Nile Rodgers to host first BRITs Viewing Party

OHMYGOSSIP — Nile Rodgers is hosting his first BRITs Viewing Party to benefit The Brit School and his We Are Family Foundation.
‘Le Freak’ hitmakers Nile Rodgers & CHIC have been nominated for Best International Group at this year’s ceremony, which takes place on February 20 at London’s The O2 arena, and to celebrate, the 66-year-old music legend is hosting his own event, which will see the band perform at the exclusive hotel The Ned on the evening of the awards show, along with special guests.
The 400 people in attendance will also be treated to a drinks reception and food.
After watching the BRITS, between 8pm and 10pm, the evenings performances will begin, before the after parties in the British capital.
Nile Rodgers and his manager Merck Mercuriadis said: “This will be an exciting night of celebration with our friends from music, film and entertainment but we really created this event and situated it at The Ned with our friends in the City in mind.
“In the 14 months we worked with our brokers and investors to launch the Hipgnosis Songs Fund Ltd we learned that there is a tremendous passion for music in the square mile and this is our way of being able to give everyone access on music’s biggest night of the year while supporting the important work of The Brit School and We Are Family Foundation.”

EastEnders’ Sophia Capasso hid behind character to disguise nerves

OHMYGOSSIP — Sophia Capasso overcame her ‘EastEnders’ nerves by hiding behind her “bold and scary” character.
The former ‘Holby City’ star admits she was anxious about her first-ever scene on Albert Square in fried chicken shop McKlunky’s, but because her no-nonsense character is so stern she doesn’t have a chance to show her “nervous” side.
She said: “It was in McKlunky’s – the scene where the phone goes flying across the screen.
“That was actually the part I was most nervous about. It was really scary.
“But because Evie comes in being bold and scary, I could hide behind that, and didn’t have to show too much of my nerves.”
While Sophia can hide behind Evie on-screen, the star doesn’t need to in auditions because she finds them more “exciting” rather than anxiety-filled.
She said: “I used to have really bad nerves, but now I get more excited than nervous.
“Breathing properly is a good tip – three seconds in, three seconds out.
“I think that’s the best help, because it gives you something else to focus on.
“And trusting in yourself that if you’ve done the prep, then there’s nothing else you can do.”
The star admits it is “great fun” portraying the drug-dealing character, but insists she isn’t much like her alter-ego.
She added to Inside Soap magazine: “I don’t think we’re much alike. It’s great fun playing Evie, though, as she doesn’t have any of the boundaries people usually have in everyday life – it’s not often you get to say the sort of things she says.
“But just like every character with a front, there’s a story behind it.”

Billy Corgan reunited with stolen guitar 27 years later

OHMYGOSSIP — Billy Corgan has been reunited with his guitar 27 years after it was stolen.
The Smashing Pumpkins frontman was devastated when his favourite instrument was pinched after the rock band’s concert in Detroit’s Saint Andrew’s Hall in June 1992.
However, on Tuesday (05.02.19), after giving up on the idea of ever seeing the Fender Stratocaster – which he played on the band’s fuzzy rock LP ‘Gish’ – again, he went to visit the guitar after a woman named Beth James got in touch to say she had been sold it at a junk sale in Michigan for $200.
The ‘Cherub Rock’ rocker told Rolling Stone: “Somebody sent me a picture a couple of weeks ago of another one of my guitars, and I wrote the guy back and said, ‘How did you get my guitar?’
“And he wrote back, ‘Oh, it’s a recreation.’
“He’d literally gotten the same stickers, worn them down in the same way and scraped the paint so it looked worn. You could have fooled me.”
A friend of Beth, who wasn’t really into Smashing Pumpkins and kept the instrument in her basement, had noticed how similar it was to Billy’s guitar after a friend showed her a picture of it.
She then decided to contact a music royalties expert she knew, Alex Heiche, who was able to get in touch with the 51-year-old star.
Billy immediately recognised it because it has very distinctive marks from cigarette burns and he’d also painted it himself.
The ‘Stand Inside Your Love’ hitmaker says that the guitar was very special to him because it enabled him to play a certain way.
He said: “It instantly changed the way the band sounded and the way I played.
“When it was stolen, it wasn’t like, ‘Oh, gee, my guitar just got stolen.’
“It was the guitar that affected the way I played and I was heavily identified with the guitar.”
He didn’t say whether or not he will be playing the instrument again when the band tour Europe later this year.

Aerosmith to receive star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

OHMYGOSSIP — Aerosmith will be inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame on February 14.
The ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’ hitmakers – who have released 15 studio album since 1973 – will receive a star on Hollywood Boulevard at a live streamed event, which will be headed up by the President and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Rana Ghadban.
The rock legends – Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer – never imagined ever getting their own sidewalk tribute.
Bassist Tom told Variety: “The only things I knew to expect from being in a band and making it were girls, money and fame.
“Oh, and being on ‘American Bandstand.’
“I never expected videos, digital recordings, playing in Russia or having a roller coaster at Disney World — never mind a star on Hollywood Blvd.”
Ana Martinez, the producer of the Walk of Fame, said: “Finally! We have been waiting a long time to honour Aerosmith with their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“Aerosmith is one of the greatest rock bands in the world and we expect many fans will be ‘Crazy’ excited to see them honoured!”
The ‘Dream On’ hitmakers will mark their 50th anniversary with an 18-date Las Vegas residency entitled ‘Deuces Are Wild’ this April.
The band will kick off their “hot, sexy rock and roll” shows on April 6 at the Park Theater at the new Park MGM in Sin City, with the final date currently scheduled for July 9.
Teasing their “epic” plans, frontman Steven and guitarist Joe said previously: “We are going to bring hot, sexy rock and roll to Vegas!!
“The residency allows us to take 50 years of performing experience and create a one of kind show with the best music, best production design, best sound, in a world-class state of the art venue. These shows will be epic!”
The special gigs will feature “never-seen-before visuals and audio from Aerosmith recording sessions” from producer Giles Martin, who was responsible for The Beatles’ ‘Love’ Cirque du Soleil concerts in the gambling capital.
And it will also see “the world’s first THX Certified live performance presented in L-ISA Immersive Hyperreal Sound”.
The ‘Sweet Emotion’ rockers had fans thinking they were quitting the road when they went out on the ‘Aero-Vederci Baby! Tour’ last year, but they later reassured them that it wouldn’t be the last they’ll see of them with the impending five-decade milestone on the horizon.
Joe said: “I think the way things are going, we are going to try and take it easy.
“We may do a couple more one-offs – maybe some festivals over the next six or eight months.
“In 2019, we will be closing in on our 50th anniversary, so we are planning some dates and a tour to celebrate that. Right now, we are pretty much laying low and finishing up some solo things before we start that.”
Fans of the band will be able to head down to Hollywood Boulevard to watch their idols being inducted into the Walk of Fame from 11.30am on February 14.

Jamie Chung has ‘unhealthy shoe obsession’

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Chung has confessed she has an “unhealthy shoe obsession”.
The ‘Sucker Punch’ actress has recently partnered with footwear brand Chinese Laundry on its new line, 42 Gold, to release her own collection and the star has revealed that the partnership was a no-brainer because “it felt right”.
Speaking to Footwear News, Chung said: “I worked in a shoe store growing up, the Athlete’s Foot. I had an unhealthy sneaker obsession, and I still do, but now it’s just all shoes. It’s my splurge. I’ll have my staples, experimental shoes, fashion forwards, and I certainly think 42 Gold is the everyday shoe.
“They [42 Gold] reached out to me, but first and foremost, it had to align with my brand and my audience – and me and my style. Footwear is a really personal thing. 42 Gold is elevated. It’s for the working woman, the woman who does it all, the multi-tasker, the mom, the business owner. It fits with the modern-day woman. It felt right.”
Jamie – who rose to fame on 2004’s ‘The Real World’ – also confessed that she likes her footwear to be “sensible” and “fashion-forward”.
Opening up about her go-to shoe styles, Jamie, 35, added: “It’s anything with a sensible heel. Something that is fashion-forward but also timeless. I am running around in flats, and when I’m traveling, I like to take a pair of heels, flats and a sandal. It really is a brand you can wear all year round. I can wear these heels all day.”

Emma Roberts to return to American Horror Story

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Roberts will return for the ninth season of ‘American Horror Story’.
The 27-year-old actress – who previously appeared in ‘Coven’ (season three), ‘Freak Show’ (season four), ‘Cult’ (season seven) and ‘Apocalypse’ (season eight) – is to star in Ryan Murphy’s next installment of his anthology series, with Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy cast as her love interest.
Creator Ryan revealed their casting on his Instagram page, sharing a photo of Gus alongside the caption: “That special moment when you realize you have an Olympic medal AND will be playing Emma Roberts’ boyfriend on American Horror Story Season 9 (sic)”
The 27-year-old sportsman – whose previous acting experience was playing himself in a 2016 episode of ‘The Real O’Neals’ and a cameo in 2017’s ‘Sharknado 5: Global Swarming’ – commented on the post: “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.”
Details about the plot for the upcoming series are being kept under wraps, but it’s likely both Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will have roles as they have featured in every other installment so far.
One person who won’t be tuning in to season nine is Julia Roberts because the ‘Pretty Woman’ star is being too afraid to tune in and watch her niece Emma in the show.
Emma previously said: “She’s too scared.”
But it isn’t just Julia whose frightened of the spooky programme, as Emma herself often watches it “with her eyes closed” because she finds some of the scenes too terrifying.
She added: “I’m basically too scared to watch it even. Because when you’re shooting it, it’s not scary and then … they add in all the effects and cut it together. I mean, I sometimes watch it with my eyes closed. I don’t blame her.”
The new series of ‘American Horror Story’ has yet to have a release date, but studio FX recently confirmed they have commissioned the programme as far as season 10.

‘Monster’ mom Melissa McCarthy

OHMYGOSSIP — Melissa McCarthy is becoming a “monster” at her daughters’ basketball games.
The ‘Can You Ever Forgive Me?’ actress – who has Vivian, 11, and Georgette, eight, with her husband Ben Falcone – is delighted the youngsters have developed a passion for sport but she gets so “crazy” and excited, she’s prone to bursting into tears and yelling at the other players while watching on the sidelines.
She said: “They’re both really into basketball, which I love, it has taken over the house, I didn’t see that one coming.
“They really like it and they both clicked in. When Georgie started, they explained guarding and she was like ‘Got it!’ She guarded their team, her own team, she was like ‘No, no, no,’ in their face…
“She made her first basket two weeks ago and… we all went crazy, my dad burst out crying, I burst out crying and there was a woman behind us going ‘I don’t know why I’m crying.’
“Something has happened, I scream and I yell like I’ve lost my mind,
“I’ve become exactly the person I always feared I would meet, a constant litany of ‘Get it! Take It! Get It!’ Once I was like, ‘She doesn’t deserve it!’ Oh my God, I’m yelling at an eight year old!
“I finally stop and I’m shaking, like, I’ve got to walk it off.
“I’m so excited because I love watching girls that age become – not more aggressive, I don’t mean it in a negative way – but seeing them go from ‘I can take that ball’ because they start off so polite, so when they start grabbing the ball, every aggressive part of me, that’s like 96% of my being is like ‘Take it from her!’
” I’m becoming a monster.”
Melissa is nominated for an Oscar for her role in ‘Can You Ever Forgive Me?’ but joked her kids didn’t let her get too excited when she got the early morning call confirming her place on the Best Actress shortlist.
Speaking on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’, she quipped: “I was on the phone and they came downstairs and were like ‘Is the toast ready?’ There’s no possible way to get overly impressed with myself in my house.”

Jay-Z paying for 21 Savage’s lawyer

OHMYGOSSIP — Jay-Z is helping to pay 21 Savage’s legal bill.
The hip hop mogul reached out to secure support after his friend was arrested by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) at the weekend, who said they had “arrested unlawfully present United Kingdom national Sha Yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph AKA ’21 Savage’ during a targeted operation with federal and local law enforcement partners” because he is “unlawfully present in the U.S. and also a convicted felon.”
Attorney Alex Spiro confirmed to E! News that he was helping in the case after being hired by Jay and Roc Nation.
The ’99 Problems’ hitmaker – who has daughter Blue Ivy, seven, and 19-month-old twins Rumi and Sir with wife Beyonce – has also branded the ongoing detainment of the 26-year-old rapper an “absolute travesty” and called for him to be released and reunited with his three kids.
He said in a statement: “The arrest and detention of 21 Savage is an absolute travesty, his U visa petition has been pending for four years.
“In addition to being a successful recording artist, 21 deserves to be reunited with his children immediately #Free21Savage.(sic)”
Alex has vowed not to stop working on the case until the ‘Rockstar’ hitmaker is released, insisting his client is a “wonderful person” who deserves his freedom.
He said: “We are not going to stop until he is released, bonded out or in front of a judge…What we have here is someone who overstayed their Visa with an application pending for four years – not a convicted criminal that needs to be detained and removed but, by all accounts a wonderful person, father, and entertainer who has a marijuana offense which was vacated and sealed.”
The rapper’s legal team have previously clarified that their client was born in London and moved to America when he was seven years old.
They explained how Savage was born in the UK and arrived legally in the US under an H-4 visa, where he stayed until 2005, when he left for around a month to visit his country of birth, before returning, again under a valid H-4 visa, in July 2005.
However, that expired the following year “through no fault” of the rapper.
The statement continued: “Mr. Abraham-Joseph has been continuously physically present in the United States for almost 20 years, except for a brief visit abroad. Unfortunately, in 2006 Mr. Abraham-Joseph’s legal status expired through no fault of his own.
“Mr. Abraham-Joseph, like almost two million of his immigrant child peers, was left without immigration status as a young child with no way to fix his immigration status. These ‘Dreamers’ come from all walks of life and every ethnicity.
“Mr. Abraham-Joseph has no criminal convictions or charges under state or federal law and is free to seek relief from removal in immigration court. ICE provided incorrect information to the press when it claimed he had a criminal conviction.”

Blac Chyna’s mom calls for Rob Kardashian to get custody

OHMYGOSSIP — Blac Chyna’s mother wants Rob Kardashian to have full-time custody of their daughter Dream.
The ‘Rob + Chyna’ star has hit the headlines several times in the last few weeks after police were called to her home to an investigate a claim she was too intoxicated to care for the two-year-old tot and later when officers attended her hotel room in Hawaii following a fight with her current boyfriend Kid Buu, and Tokyo Toni told TMZ she thinks there is something “terribly wrong” in her daughter’s personal life, so her granddaughter would be better cared for by her father.
She told the website: “It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see something is terribly wrong.”
It was previously claimed Rob was unhappy that Chyna didn’t leave Dream with him, as stipulated in their custody agreement, when she flew to Hawaii, instead leaving the youngster with a nanny.
And though the reclusive sock designer believes the little girl is better off with him and a nanny, he doesn’t want to cut contact with his former fiancee entirely.
A source recently said: “Dream is the cutest little girl. She is very happy and so much fun to be around. Rob’s family just wants Dream to be raised in the best way possible. Regardless of the issues that Rob is dealing with, it’s pretty clear that the environment that Rob and his family can offer Dream is the healthiest for her. Rob always wanted Dream to spend time with her mom, too.
“He has never wanted Chyna to be cut out of Dream’s life. But, he also doesn’t want Dream to be raised by a nanny while her mom is off partying out of state.”
However, Chyna believes Rob’s backlash is just because he is jealous of her relationship with Kid Buu and Rob was said to be “mad” after Chyna jetted off to Hawaii whilst she was meant to have custody of their daughter Dream.
A source said: “Chyna planned on having Dream stay with a nanny in LA while she was in Hawaii. Rob is mad because if either parent is out of town, the other parent is supposed to have the option to keep Dream longer. Rob doesn’t want Dream to stay alone with a nanny while Chyna parties in Hawaii. This is what he is mad about. She needs to tell him when she won’t be in LA so Rob can keep Dream longer. Rob is getting his lawyer involved.”

Ian Beale among soap characters priced out of today’s property market

OHMYGOSSIP — Ian Beale, Ken Barlow and Eric Pollard are among the soap characters who would have to up sticks if they were purchasing their properties nowadays.
Research by One 77 Mortgages has found the Albert Square resident – portrayed by Adam Woodyatt – wouldn’t be able to afford his Walford house if he had to buy the abode in the current financial climate after the price of his pad increased by a whopping 1,042 per cent.
Ian’s East End home is said to be worth an average £743,046, a fair bit more than the £65,072 it was estimated to be worth when he first stepped foot in Albert Square in 1985, and his typical small business owner salary of £28,759 would leave him a massive £119,850 short of the income required for a mortgage nowadays.
Alastair McKee, managing director of One77 Mortgages, said: “Unfortunately for our best-loved soap stars, the cost of getting on the ladder today would see many of them resigned to the rental sector.
“Luckily for them, they took that first step when prices weren’t as high and as a result have benefited from some very healthy price growth across the board.”
‘Coronation Street’ character Ken (Bill Roache) would also be in a similar situation after his Manchester terraced house soared in value from an estimated £1,664 in 1960 to £209,985 in today’s market.
And despite his wheeling and dealing, Emmerdale’s Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) would also struggle to find cash for a mortgage on his detached home in Arncliffe, which is worth an average of £459,684 now, compared to £21,389 in 1986.
However, ‘Doctors’ character Jimmi Clay (Adrian Lewis Morgan) would be OK with his GP salary of just shy of £70,000 when securing a mortgage on a terraced house in Birmingham B29.
Alastair added: “Of course, this research is just a bit of fun and in many cases mortgage affordability would be bolstered by a partner or spouses’ income, but it does raise a more serious issue.
“Regardless of property type, profession and location, there is a huge disparity between the price of UK property and the wages on offer and it highlights the struggle facing many aspirational buyers today when trying to secure a mortgage.”

Emily Ratajkowski has launched underwear line

OHMYGOSSIP — Emily Ratajkowski has launched her own lingerie collection.
The 27-year-old model created her swimwear line, Inamorata, in November 2017 and the brunette beauty announced to her Instagram followers on Wednesday (06.02.19) that she is expanding her range and releasing her own underwear collection called BODY.
Emily – who has modelled the entire collection herself – revealed that she wanted to make wearable pieces that were “comfortable” but not “high-maintenance”.
Speaking to US Vogue, Emily said: “I was trying to evoke the feeling of a confident girl who wears her bathing suit all day and how that attitude would translate when you’re not at the beach. I asked myself: How exactly does that feeling fit into our lives in New York?
“Ultimately it is about a cotton pantie that you have on around the house and then wear out to get coffee. I always want something that feels really good or comfortable but isn’t high-maintenance.”
The highly-anticipated collection includes eighteen styles of lacy bralettes, ribbed bodysuits and seamless thongs, which are all named after well-known New York City streets, in a range of fashionable colours.
The sultry beauty also confessed that she’d been working on the Inamorata BODY collection for “over a year” and is “thrilled” with the line.
Taking to her Instagram account, Emily said: “A little over a year of @inamoratawoman and I’m so thrilled to finally share what I’ve been working on for you guys. Introducing BODY, a category that is so much more than lingerie. I hope you guys love it as much as I do. Shop now. (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Louise Redknapp insists Jamie Redknapp is still her “best friend”.
The former Eternal singer – who divorced the retired soccer star in 2017 after almost 20 years of marriage – found their split “tough” but after coming through it, she is still close to her ex-husband for the sake of their sons Charley, 14, and 10-year-old Beau.
She said: “It’s been really tough, but I mean, you know, he’s my best friend. It’s been really tough but things happen and yeah, I saw him yesterday and it was all good. We had school meetings and stuff, like you do, so all good.”
The 44-year-old star isn’t looking forward to Valentine’s Day (14.02.19) now that she’s single.
Asked her plans by Heart Breakfast’s Jamie Theakston, she said: “Oh god! Do you know what, no! I hate Valentine’s Day now! I’m too old for Valentine’s Day, right?”
When co-host Lucy Horobin suggested she go out with her female friends instead, Louise replied: “Yeah that’ll be me, galentine’s, yeah I’ll be the one sat in the restaurant with my mate.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Naked’ hitmaker recently had to postpone her debut in West End musical ‘9-5’ after being injured in a fall, but she’s on the road to recovery and will be ready to get back on stage in a few weeks.
She said: “I fell over. I’d rehearsed for about two and a half weeks, it was all going fine and then I fell over. You know, that typical mum thing, rushing out the car, and I fractured my wrist and I had ten stitches in my chin, which meant that I couldn’t rehearse for a week, which then meant that I couldn’t go in for opening night.
“But I’m going back in, so by the middle of March, 25th of March I’m back in the show.”

Jemima Kirke intimidated by handsome Jamie Dornan

OHMYGOSSIP — Jemima Kirke found shooting sex scenes with Jamie Dornan “intimidating” because he’s so handsome.
The 33-year-old actress claims she is “unfamiliar” being around such a good-looking man and she got particularly flustered when the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ star had to get “really close” to her in a particularly raunchy moment in their new movie ‘Untogether’.
Appearing alongside her sister and co-star Lola Kirke on ‘Busy Tonight’, she told host Busy Phillips: “In terms of how he looks, I’d never been in that situation.
“I’m not familiar with someone who looks like that…I had to do a lot of work.
“I did because I just didn’t, he looks like a sculpture.
“It wasn’t intimidating until…so he did this one part where he’s supposed to go down on me and there was no, I was like ‘Oh my god, like wow, you really…’ He didn’t go down on me at all, at all, no, but there was no like, it was close.
“And I’m like, of course ‘Fifty Shades’ – he knows what he’s doing. He was really close.”
Meanwhile, Jamie recently insisted he doesn’t feel typecast by the ‘Fifty Shades’ saga because there are so few other characters out there like kinky businessman Christian Grey.
He said: “I don’t know how much onus I would put on me trying to step away from ‘Fifty Shades’. In some ways, I feel the opposite of typecast.
“Mostly for the fact that there aren’t a lot of scripts out there about sadomasochist men.”

Hollyoaks’ David Tag hints Breda could kill Liam

OHMYGOSSIP — David Tag has hinted Hollyoaks’ Breda McQueen will go after Liam Donovan.
The soap star wouldn’t be surprised if his alter-ego Sylver McQueen teams up with the serial killer – who is played by Moya Brady – to do away with Liam (Maxim Baldry) after she set about trying to cleanse of the village of several bad boys.
David said: “This is something Moya and I have discussed. Liam’s messing with her family and considering her motives for killing in the past, I’m surprised she hasn’t gone after Liam yet.”
While the actor claims he isn’t sure what will happen, he could certainly see a plot where his character joins forces with his evil adoptive mother to ensure Liam meets his maker.
He added to Inside Soap magazine: “I’ve no idea what will happen, but I think if Sylver found out his mum was the killer, he would say, ‘Right, let’s do Liam in.’ He definitely wants rid of him.”
Breda recently bumped off Louis Loveday (Karl Collins), and the 48-year-old actor admitted afterwards he expected his exit from the Channel 4 soap to be “less emotional”.
He said: “I thought I would be less emotional about it, actually. Four years is a good stretch of time. It’s the longest period I’ve spent in one job and I always knew that I wanted to do four years maximum. Leaving coincided perfectly with another job, which I actually started rehearsing for before I’d left ‘Hollyoaks’.
