Corrie wins Broadcast Award for best soap

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Coronation Street’ won the top prize at the Broadcast Awards on Wednesday night (06.02.19).
The ITV favourite was named the best soap or continuing drama at the annual ceremony, which looks to honour the UK’s “most groundbreaking and successful content, creators and channels”.
The soap’s episode dealing with both Aidan Connor’s (Shayne Ward) suicide and David Platt’s (Jack P Shepherd) male rape earned the programme high praise from an expert judging panel.
The hour-long episode – which was a collaboration with charities CALM and the Samaritans – put a focus on mental health, as David made the decision to speak out about his own pain and didn’t take his own life.
One judge declared: “A brutally real portrayal of grief that I’ve never seen in a soap before.”
Another described it as a “sensitively handled episode that had an impact soap rarely achieves these days”.
Aidan’s death and body were not shown on screen – following advice to the soap – as ‘Corrie’ kept the focus on the wider impact of his suicide and how it affected his friends and family.
The event also saw big wins for shows like ‘A Very English Scandal’ (best drama series or serial) and ‘Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway ‘ (best entertainment programme), while ITV was named Channel of the Year.

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Hanks is in talks to star in ‘News Of The World’.
The 62-year-old actor could be set to reunite with director Paul Greengrass – whom he worked with on the 2013 thriller ‘Captain Philips’ – for the upcoming adaptation of the best-selling novel by Paulette Jiles. According to Variety, a deal hasn’t closed yet, but negotiations are taking place.
The ‘Cast Away’ star would play Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd in the forthcoming film, a veteran who travels from town to town, reading the latest newspaper to the largely illiterate locals.
The movie will centre on the friendship between Kidd and a ten-year-old girl he’s tasked with bringing to her relatives in San Antonio, after she spent her childhood living with the Kiowa Indian tribe after she was kidnapped and her family was murdered.
The movie will be penned by Luke Davies and casting is expected to take place soon for the Fox 2000 production.
According to the novel’s official synopsis, the pair’s 400-mile journey “proves difficult and at times dangerous”
It explains: “Johanna has forgotten the English language, tries to escape at every opportunity, throws away her shoes, and refuses to act civilised.
“Yet as the miles pass, the two lonely survivors tentatively begin to trust each other, forging a bond that marks the difference between life and death in this treacherous land.”
Tom recently starred alongside Meryl Streep as newspaper editor Ben Bradlee in ‘The Post’ and will next appear in ‘Toy Story 4’, which he recorded his final ever scenes for last week, after first bringing the beloved Disney Pixar character to life in 1995.

Kendall Jenner boasts she has best skincare routine of sisters

OHMYGOSSIP — Kendall Jenner thinks she has the best skincare routine of all her sisters.
The 22-year-old model claimed that due to her struggle with acne in the past, she thinks she might be the “master” of skincare as her sisters, Kim, Kourtney, Khloe Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner all have “beautiful skin”.
In an interview with Allure magazine, she said: “I honestly might need to take credit for this one, only because they haven’t really struggled with breakouts. Khloe did a little bit when she was really young, and then Rob [Kardashian] a bit when he was really young but he’s not my sister. They all have beautiful skin. So I will talk myself up and say that I might be the [skin-care] master in the family.”
Despite the ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star’s current glowing complexion, the beauty began suffering with acne when she started high school and she’s admitted she was so convinced fellow students were always staring at her face, she’d go home devastated on a regular basis.
She previously shared a throwback photo on her Instagram Story and wrote: “#10yearchallenge I was 13 and ran home crying every day because people would stare at my skin (sic)”
These days, Kendall is delighted with the way her skin has improved and contrasted the teenage photo with a recent one of herself without make-up.
She wrote: “Yesterday on film. Zero make-up.”
Kendall also admitted her battle with her skin left her feeling “anxious, helpless and insecure”.
She shared a bare-faced photo on Instagram and in a lengthy post wrote: “While there are much bigger problems happening in the world, suffering from acne for me was debilitating. It’s something that I’ve dealt with since I was a young teen and has caused me to feel anxious, helpless and insecure.”

The 45-year-old beauty mogul revealed that her latest limited-edition Supermodel Lips collection, which includes three nudes in the brand’s Matte Revolution formula was influenced by the likes of Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss, who were “trailblazers” of the nude lip trend.
Speaking to British Vogue, she said: “The 90s were when the nudes were born! It was all about tone-on-tone – a sumptuous, pillowy, nude lipstick paired with a darker, browner lip liner – it was the Supers’ trademark look.
“Claudia, Cindy, Naomi and Kate were trailblazers for this trend. Over the years, it is a look which is ever-evolving but always relevant, always desirable, and always wearable!
“I wanted to give a nod to the 90s, channelling the effortless attitude of that natural beauty, but in a modern way. These are the ultimate fashion nude lips that everyone needs in their make-up bag.”

“So not only do they suit everyone, at every age, but the difference in colour payoff means that everyone can become the most super gorgeous versions of themselves!”

Christine Lampard missing parents ‘terribly’ after birth of her daughter

OHMYGOSSIP — Christine Lampard is missing her parents “terribly” since the birth of her first child.
The 40-year-old television host has admitted that since having her five-month-old daughter Patricia with her husband Frank Lampard she has “missed home” as her parents live in Northern Ireland whilst she is in England and she “hasn’t been brave enough” to fly over and visit as she’s afraid her baby will “cry the whole hour”.
Making her return to the panel on ‘Loose Women’ on Thursday (07.02.19) since becoming a mum, she said: “I’m lucky enough that my parents were there and very much part of that the sort of massive day.
“But since it, I’ve missed home terribly just because my parents are back home in Northern Ireland and haven’t been quite brave enough to get on a plane with the baby yet because I’m scared in case she starts to cry for the whole hour.
“So I haven’t quite ventured that yet so they’ve come to me the whole time and it makes you fully appreciate what your mum and dad have been through with you and you want your parents to be very much a part of it and she’s the first grandchild in our family so she’s very much adored.”
Although she has been missing her parents, Mina and Frederick Bleakley, they both flew over to celebrate her 40th birthday with her on February 2 and everyone was cooing over baby Patricia.
Christine admits she has been enjoying every aspect of motherhood and even though it can be challenging she feels “incredibly grateful” to be a parent.
She said: “This was just such a joy for all of us and I guess it’s why people continue to have babies and you go through that very first stage and you think, ‘I’m exhausted, am I doing this right, is she OK?’
“Here I am five months on and you kind of forget that early stage and you just think it’s so wonderful and I can’t help but feel incredibly grateful.”

Bergerac set for television reboot

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Bergerac’ is set for a new television reboot.
The hit 1980s detective drama starred John Nettles as titular character Jim Bergerac – who didn’t always follow the rules set by the fictional Bureau des Étrangers – and it has been revealed that the classic will be making an updated comeback, which is already in development.
The original Jersey-based series – which ran for nine seasons from 1981 until its finale in 1991 – was originally produced by the BBC and featured Nettles as a maverick detective sergeant.
It has been announced that Artists Studios, Endemol Shine UK and Westward Studios are planning a reboot of the classic crime series, and they have confirmed that the series will stay true to the original’s “Jersey home”.
Brian Constantine, CEO of Westward Studios, said: “I’m excited at the prospect that ‘Bergerac’ may be returning to our screens once again.
“It’s a much-loved drama and a real boost for Jersey, my home, where ‘Bergerac’ has become part of the island’s identity.”
The executive producer of Artists Studios, Gub Neal admitted that the much-loved series will be “updated for the present day” and will take the form of a series like its predecessor.
He added: “We’ve been trying to bring back ‘Bergerac’ for some time and I’m very glad that we have the next generation of such an iconic show in development.
“Updated for the present day, it will deal with contemporary stories-of-the-week that run alongside a strong serial spine.”

Justin and Hailey Bieber didn’t have sex before marriage

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin didn’t have sex they got married.
The ‘Sorry’ hitmaker has revealed he made the choice to become celibate two years ago because he had “a legitimate problem with sex” and explained that reconnecting with Hailey – whom he tied the knot with in a secret ceremony last September – was God’s way of rewarding him for “good behavior”.
Speaking in a joint interview with Hailey for Vogue magazine, he spilled: “[God] doesn’t ask us not to have sex for him because he wants rules and stuff.
“He’s like, I’m trying to protect you from hurt and pain. I think sex can cause a lot of pain. Sometimes people have sex because they don’t feel good enough.
“Because they lack self-worth. Women do that, and guys do that.
“I wanted to rededicate myself to God in that way because I really felt it was better for the condition of my soul. And I believe that God blessed me with Hailey as a result.”
The 24-year-old pop star first met the 22-year-old model 10 years ago, and they dated briefly in 2016.
Justin then rekindled his romance with Selena Gomez and he and Hailey didn’t speak for “some time” after the break-up.
It was at church in June 2018, that the pair started to become close as friends again and from there, their romance blossomed.
Hailey told the publication: “One day Justin walked into Hillsong and was like, ‘Hey, you got older.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, what’s up?’
“Over time he became my best guy friend. I was running around with him as his homie, but we weren’t hanging out [romantically].”
Although Justin regularly goes to church with Hailey – whose father is actor Stephen Baldwin, the brother of Alec Baldwin – the ‘What Do You Mean’ singer insists that he is not overly “religious” despite his Christian faith.
He explained: “I wouldn’t consider myself religious, that confuses a lot of people because they’re like, well you go to church.
“I believe in the story of Jesus – that’s the simplicity of what I believe.
“But I don’t believe in all the religious elitism and pretentiousness … I get sensitive when religion comes up because it’s been so hurtful to a lot of people. I don’t want to be thought of as someone who stands for any of the injustice that religion has done and does do.”
Hailey also admitted that it’s “hard” being married – and that she wants to make sure they maintain a “healthy relationship”.
She said: “It’s just that I’m fighting to do this the right way, to build a healthy relationship. I want people to know that.
“We’re coming from a really genuine place. But we’re two young people who are learning as we go. I’m not going to sit here and lie and say it’s all a magical fantasy. It’s always going to be hard.”

Irina Shayk says agencies have to

OHMYGOSSIP — Irina Shayk has revealed she has been told by modelling agencies she needs to “lose weight”.
The 33-year-old Russian supermodel – who has 22-month-old daughter Lea De Seine Shayk Cooper with her partner Bradley Cooper – has credited her fabulous figure to “good genes” but she has been told by some professionals in the fashion business that she should shed some pounds in order to model sample size clothes.
Speaking to February’s digital issue of Glamour UK, Irina said: “I love to eat, and I don’t believe in diets. I’m lucky with my genes. I never had a problem getting too skinny or too big. I never fit size zero and when people try to squeeze me into sample size, I have said, ‘I’m sorry guys, I have my assets, like, I cannot be in this!’
“I think that the designers who I work with really celebrate and appreciate a woman’s body. I have a curvy body and people want to use me in their shows, and for their brands, knowing I’m not a skinny girl.”
“I have had agencies who have told me I have to lose weight. But I just stick to myself, my personality and my decisions – I’m a human being as well as a model. I love to eat, I love to enjoy my life and when I’m off duty, I’m not wearing high heels or makeup and trying to fit into a size zero dress.”
Irina is proud of the fact she has always remained true to herself throughout her career and has not let fame and fortune change her as a person.
She said: “I’m just regular person. I think it’s really important to carry that through your work and personal life. You have to think about who you really are and what you want.”
The sultry star also insists motherhood has changed her as a person but having Lea in her life has made her very happy.
She added: “In this modern world, in the 21st century, I really believe that if you have a baby, it doesn’t mean that you have to wear a longer dress.
“One of my friends said, ‘Oh you just posted a sexy picture. You’re a mum now!’ And I just said, ‘So what!’ I think it’s really about who you are, who you wanna be and I really feel you just have to stick to your thing. I don’t believe anyone should have to change just because you’re a mother, no! I’m still me!”

Patrick Stewart so excited for Star Trek return

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Patrick Stewart is very “excited” to return to ‘Star Trek’.
The 78-year-old actor will again portray Captain Jean-Luc Picard – who he originally portrayed in ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ from 1987 until 1994 and a number of spin-off movies – in a new series for CBS All Access, which is described as an exploration of the next chapter of his character’s life and he can’t wait to get started on the series as he never thought he’d reprise that role.
Discussing the project, which is set 20 years after the events of ‘Star Trek: Nemesis’, on UK TV show ‘This Morning’, he said: “I thought about it and said ‘yes’. I never believed this would or could happen because there have been numerous ideas and offers to bring the character or the series back in some ways. And I’ve always said, ‘No, that is the past, I am proud of what we did but it is not going to be revived. Certainly not in the shape of Patrick Stewart.’
“I met the producers, wonderful and clever people and they told me about the idea they had for this. It’s quite different from ‘Next Generation’. It’s 20 years on which is exactly how much time has passed since we wrapped the series in Los Angeles. With every day that goes by as the production draws near I get more and more excited.”
‘The Kid Who Would Be King ‘ star also teased that the upcoming series is going to be a whole “different world” from what was shown before.
He added: “It’s going to be a different world from the world that we were in on The Enterprise. And I say we because I don’t really yet know who the we will be. We’re trying to keep it under covers as much as possible, because that we hope will entice people to then watch it and then get taken up in the new world that the next generation are inhabiting.”

Marvin Gaye’s lost 1972 LP You’re the Man set for vinyl

OHMYGOSSIP — Marvin Gaye’s lost 1972 LP ‘You’re the Man’ is being released to mark what would’ve been his 80th birthday.
Motown/UMe will release the unused follow-up to 1971’s ‘What’s Going On’ on March 29, four days before the ‘Let’s Get It On’ hitmaker’s birthday.
The record – which will be available as a 2LP vinyl and psychical CD – contains all of Marvin’s unreleased solo recordings from 1972.
Only the album title track was previously released.
The song ‘My Last Chance’ – which was remixed by Amy Winehouse producer Salaam Remi – is now available to stream.
After the success of ‘What’s Going On’, Marvin – who died from a gunshot wound at the age of 44 in April 1984 – won full creative control of his career and renewed a $1 million contract with Motown’s subsidiary Tamla.
Instead of releasing ‘You’re the Man’, which he scrapped in protest after the album title track only made it to number 50 in the Billboard Hot 100, Marvin decided to solely write and produce the soundtrack to the crime thriller movie ‘Trouble Man’ which also acted as his 12th studio album.
Among the 17 songs is a long version of Marvin’s 1972 Christmas single ‘I Want To Come Home For Christmas’ and an unreleased mix of its instrumental B-side.
Though some tracks on the release have been released on albums in the past, 15 of them will make their debut on the vinyl edition, which also features liner notes by Marvin biographer David Ritz.
From his ‘Divided Soul: The Life of Marvin Gaye’ interview, the music icon said that after ‘What’s Going On’, he felt like he was fighting his own war “inside his soul”.
He said: “Now I could do what I wanted. For most people that would be a blessing. But for me the thought was heavy.
“They said I’d reached the top, and that scared me because Mother used to say, ‘First ripe, first rotten.’ “When you’re at the top there’s nowhere to go but down.
“No, I needed to keep going up — raising my consciousness — or I’d fall back on my behind.
“When would the war stop? That’s what I wanted to know — the war inside my soul.”
Motown/UMe are also reissuing the soul star’s 1965 covers LP ‘A Tribute To The Great Nat King Cole’.

Shaggy announces first solo album in eight years

OHMYGOSSIP — Shaggy has announced his first solo album in eight years.
The dancehall king will release ‘Wah Gwaan?!’, which features reggaeton star Nicky Jam and Jason Derulo collaboration ‘Tic Toc’, on May 10.
According Rolling Stone, it will sees the ‘It Wasn’t Me’ hitmaker – who released the records ‘Shaggy & Friends’ and ‘Summer in Kingston’ in 2011 – return to his “Jamaican roots, global reach, contagious joy and introspective side”.
Dancehall stars Shenseea, Stacy Barthe and Noah Pow also make appearances on the 12-track LP.
Shaggy previously released the single ‘Use Me’ from the record.
The album follows his joint record with Sting, ’44/876′, which has been nominated for a Grammy for Best Reggae Album.
The two stars only initially planned to work on one track together but they got on so well, they recorded the entire record, and are now “inseparable”.
Shaggy said previously: “We’d known each other in the business but never really hung out y’know. And now we’re inseparable.”
One thing they bonded over was their “ridiculous” names, though they’re not sure about their collective moniker.
Sting – whose real name is Gordon Sumner – said: “We both have ridiculous names, which is helpful.
“The collective name for us now is ‘Shagging’, which isn’t inappropriate.”
Shaggy – whose real name is Orville Burrell – and Sting think their album was a success because their unlikeliness as a duo has got listeners intrigued.
Sting said: “Because it’s so dark at the moment, people need a smile.
“I think the unlikeliness of this combination intrigues people.”
The track-listing for ‘Wah Gwaan?!’ is as follows:
1. ‘Ketch Mi Up’
2. ‘Friends feat Gene Noble’
3. ‘You feat Alexander Stewart’
4. ‘Praise’
5. ‘Tic Toc’ feat Jason Derulo and Nicky Jam

Matthew Perry ‘kicked out of therapy’

OHMYGOSSIP — Matthew Perry has claimed he has been “kicked out” of therapy.
The former ‘Friends’ star – who played Chandler Bing on the hugely popular US sitcom – has logged on to Twitter to tell his 1.26 million followers that he can no longer attend his sessions.
He wrote: “I got kicked out of therapy today.”
Five months ago, the 49-year-old actor took to the micro-blogging site to reveal he was hospitalised for three months after undergoing an emergency operation to fix a gastrointestinal perforation, which causes severe abdominal pain and tenderness and can be fatal.
Sources said that he was “very sick” when he was taken into hospital, and his lengthy recovery time was needed as “healing can be complicated” following the surgery.
They said: “Matthew was very sick when he was hospitalised; his condition was very serious. A gastrointestinal surgery is very complex, and the healing can be complicated.”
Matthew left hospital a day after taking to social media to reveal the news.
He wrote: “Three months in a hospital bed. Check.”
His representative had asked for “privacy” while he recovered.
They said at the time: “Matthew recently underwent surgery in a Los Angeles hospital to repair a gastrointestinal perforation. He is grateful for the concern and asks for continued privacy as he heals.”
A gastrointestinal perforation or ruptured bowel occurs when a hole develops in the lining of the gastrointestinal tract and can be caused by illnesses such as Crohn’s disease, colitis and appendicitis.
Although it is usually repairable, doctors have to work fast to prevent the contents of the gastrointestinal tract from spilling out into the stomach and causing an infection.
Once an infection develops, it can lead to sepsis and ultimately cause death.
Exact details on Matthew’s surgery were not revealed, but he has been very open in the past about his struggles with alcohol abuse, which can contribute to digestive health issues.
The actor completed a 48-day programme in rehab for Vicodin addiction in 1997, after he turned to the drug to stop him from “drinking as much” as he was.
In 2001, he checked back into a rehab facility to recover from his use of Vicodin, methadone, amphetamines, and alcohol.
He said previously: “I’ve had a lot of ups and downs in my life and a lot of wonderful accolades but the best thing about me is that if an alcoholic comes up to me and says, ‘Will you help me stop drinking?’ I will say, ‘Yes. I know how to do that.’ ”

Cardi B refused marriage counselling with Offset

OHMYGOSSIP — Cardi B refused to go to marriage counselling with Offset.
The high-profile duo separated last year after the ‘I Like It’ rapper accused the Migos star of being unfaithful, but they were said to be trying to work things out for the sake of their six-month-old baby daughter Kulture.
The 26-year-old star has now opened up about the state of their relationship and despite reports that they have since reconciled, Cardi insists “nothing” could make her “change her mind” over her decision to leave him.
Speaking to the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar magazine, she said: “I decided on my own. Nobody makes my decisions about my life but me.
“I didn’t want to go to marriage counselling. He suggested it, but it’s like, ‘I don’t want to go.’ There’s no counsellor or nothing that could make me change my mind.”
The ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker had said that she was missing having sex with Offset in December, after they split, and the pair have since been spotted together though never have confirmed a full reunion.
Cardi has made it clear that she won’t be jumping back into bed with her husband just because she “likes sex” and is “sexual” – because she wants to be a “good example” to her baby daughter.
She said: “If you think Imma automatically hop onto you after a marriage that just means you think I’m a sleaze. And I’m not. I have a kid — I have to show an example.
“Just because I’m out there and very sexual doesn’t mean that I have to be whorish. I like to have sex. That doesn’t mean I have to have it with everybody, not that I judge women who want to have sex with the world.”
Cardi also opened up about motherhood and how she felt like “the world was heavy on [her] shoulders” when she suffered from postpartum depression.
She added: “I thought I was going to avoid it. When I gave birth, the doctor told me about postpartum, and I was like, ‘Well, I’m doing good right now, I don’t think that’s going to happen.’
“But out of nowhere, the world was heavy on my shoulders.”

“I came to the north of England and set up my original business in Holt, just in Wales, and then decided to move over to Farndon in Cheshire.
“It’s a long time to be doing flowers. I always looked upon it as a service to the community really. People like to get a bunch of flowers from me.”

Sarah Phelps adapting Agatha Christie’s The Pale Horse

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘ABC Murders’ writer Sarah Phelps is adapting Agatha Christie novel ‘The Pale Horse’ for the BBC.
The screenwriter – who penned the previous BBC Christie dramas ‘And Then There Were None’, ‘The Witness for the Prosecution’ and ‘Ordeal by Innocence’ – wanted to adapt the 1961 book for TV because she wanted to tackle that decade in Christie’s writing.
Confirming the project to RadioTimes.com, Phelps said: “When I was working on ‘And Then There Were None’ [in 2015], there was a little voice in my head saying that I could write a quintet and cover 50 years of the tumultuous blood-soaked 20th century within the genre of the murder mystery.
“Having now done the 1920s, the beginning and end of the 30s, as well as the 1950s, the next one is going to be set in the 1960s.”
The plot of the novel centres around historian Mark Easterbrook, who investigates the murder of a Catholic priest found dead in the fog after hearing the confession of a dying woman.
Phelps has faced some criticism for changing some of Christie’s stories for the adaptations, and sparked much controversy by changing the identity of the killer in ‘Ordeal by Innocence’.
But the screenwriter has defended herself by reasoning she “picks up on clues” she reads in Christie’s literature and runs with them.
She said: “Agatha Christie plants these little clues in her books and I pick them up and run with them. I’m honouring the secret, subversive Agatha. There’s something dangerous about her – and there’s a lot of academic work to be done on the tension in the novels between the book she knew the public wanted to read and the one she wanted to write. I always think I’m doing the version of the book she wanted to write.”
