Bradley Cooper retires Jackson Maine’s gravely voice

OHMYGOSSIP — Bradley Cooper will be singing as himself at the Oscars – not his ‘A Star Is Born’ alter-ego Jackson Maine.
The 44-year-old actor and Lady Gaga – who played lovers Ally and Jackson in the musical blockbuster – will perform the Oscar-nominated song ‘Shallow’ at the ceremony at The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on February 24, but Cooper has admitted he won’t be able to use his gravely southern drool as it’s “gone”.
Appearing on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ on Thursday (14.02.19), he said: “He’s (Jackson) gone. I am not going to try and get him back.
“But I will be me singing.”
However, he is making sure he hits the notes by rehearsing with his vocal coach from the movie.
He said: “I’m going to start rehearsing with this great vocal coach who I love, Roger Love, who I worked with all the time on the movie.
“I hope to be in present and enjoy it and hopefully people love the song sung that night.”
The ‘Burn’ actor recently performed the song with the ‘Born This Way’ star at her Las Vegas residency show, but he pretended to act like a rock star because he “certainly isn’t” one.
He said: “The truth is as was revealed when I went on stage at Vegas, I had to create a character because that guy certainly isn’t a rock star.
“She asked me to come up on stage at her incredible residency that she is doing for two years that you should all go and see and the jazz show, which you’ve got to go see, one night she does which is amazing.
“So I went up there and watch the video back and we went up there and sang it and I just sort of look like this idiot from Philadelphia singing with Lady Gaga…
“Luckily I was on pitch and thank God, but I was like, ‘Oh, Jackson’s gone.'”
Cooper – who also directed the movie – admitted that the thing he was “most terrified” about was getting the accent right, and he stole aspects of his co-star Sam Elliott’s (Bobby) voice.
He said: “Part of when I was knowing I wanted to do this morning and wanting to sing everything live, I had to create these guys, and I am sure you’ve had them, but they are so idiosyncratic and iconic, they are like the rock stars.
“So one of the things I knew I wanted to do, was to lower my voice.
“But I didn’t want to make it too country and Sam Elliott is from Sacramento, but his mother was from Texas, so he has this accent that you can’t quite place, but it’s so wonderfully iconic.”
The ‘Limitless’ star said that he would go to sleep with a sore throat after practicing.
He said: “First of all I would do this warm up all the time … I don’t think I could. The first six months I could only do it like this (with his head down).
“I would go to sleep and my throat would hurt and I thought, well this is never going to happen.
“That is what I was most terrified of, this voice.”

Kendall Jenner devastated to miss Stormi’s first birthday party

OHMYGOSSIP — Kendall Jenner was devastated she couldn’t attend her niece Stormi’s first birthday party.
The 23-year-old model was eager to attend the bash staged by Kylie Jenner, Kendall’s younger sister, but a scheduling conflict meant she could only follow the special occasion via FaceTime.
Kendall shared: “I was so upset. It was supposed to happen on her actual birthday, I’m pretty sure on the first, and it rained and everything got postponed so it didn’t happen until I was out of town.
“Which was very unfortunate because I would’ve loved to go and it looked really amazing.”
Kendall said Kylie, 21, made every possible effort to make sure the party was an unforgettable event.
Speaking on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, the brunette beauty explained: “She really went all out.”
Despite not being there in person, Kendall was determined to keep in touch with her family.
She recalled: “My mom [Kris Jenner] FaceTimed me right before everyone got there. I was literally on FaceTime for, I’m not kidding, 45 minutes to an hour. It was so much stuff she had to show me. It was crazy.”
Meanwhile, Kendall – who is currently dating NBA star Ben Simmons – recently admitted she doesn’t like speaking publicly about her romances.
The model explained: “I don’t want to let the world have their opinion on something and let them fully into something if I don’t even know what’s gonna end up happening in the next couple months because it’s something I’m going to have to explain.
“The amount of times I see people together for a couple months and they’re together so hardcore and they show it and they flex it everywhere and a couple months later they break up or something happens.
“They have to explain themselves to everyone. I don’t want to do all of that unless I’m completely certain in a relationship or it’s been a while.”

The 36-year-old pop star has admitted that John, 40, is a serious competitor on the upcoming season of the NBC show, which sees Kelly, John, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton compete as coaches.
Kelly confessed: “I’ve never been more terrified to be on this show with a coach than John Legend.
“He’s everyone’s threat, they don’t know it yet. He’s the threat.”
Adam, 39 – who recently performed during the Super Bowl halftime show with Maroon 5 – is also aware of John’s threat on the show.
Adam hailed the award-winning star, admitting he’s “incredibly talented and very charming”.
He told People: “John is a threat. I mean, John has like 4,000 awards and he’s incredibly talented and very charming.”
Meanwhile, Kelly previously admitted she’s turned into “a vampire” since becoming a mother.
The ‘Because of You’ hitmaker – who has a four-year-old daughter called River and a two-year-old son called Remington – revealed that since having her own kids, she’s realised she is “not a morning person”.
Kelly – who has been married to Brandon Blackstock since 2013 – said: “I’m not a morning person. I love the night. I am a vampire.”
The pop star also revealed that when she does have time to herself, she loves to take part in quilting – which is the process of sewing two or more layers of fabric together to make a thicker padded material.
Asked about her favourite hobby, Kelly shared: “I love putting on vinyl and having wine and quilting. It’s fun. I’m not great at it, but I like it.”

Sir Patrick Stewart: The US and UK are united by collective frustration

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Patrick Stewart thinks the UK and the US are united by a collective feeling of frustration.
The 78-year-old actor – who is married to American singer Sunny Ozell – thinks British and American people share many of the same annoyances.
He explained: “What links the US – my wife is American – and us [in the UK] is that millions of people have not felt connected, have felt disenfranchised and are really having a tough time of it.”
Patrick believes a country is “only as good as its leaders” – and that the rise of President Donald Trump is linked to the public’s frustrations.
He told the BBC: “When someone comes along and says we’re going to change all that right away – which is not possible to do – it’s attractive because people do not feel represented or understood.
“Surely there are more important things than building a wall between Mexico and the US, surely there’s more important things to do than throwing business out of our country?
“A country is only as good as its leaders.”
Recently, Patrick revealed he’s in favour of 14 year olds getting the vote in the UK.
The acclaimed actor plays wizard Merlin in ‘The Kid Who Would Be King’ – which follows a young boy who finds King Arthur’s legendary sword Excalibur – and Patrick praised the movie for putting young people in a position of control.
He said: “We’ve had plenty of movies that have had children in. But I can’t think of one that puts them into such a position where they have to make their own decision and their own choices which will affect the whole nation.
“People are already saying 14 year olds should have the vote and I’m in favour of that.”

J.J. Abrams reveals filming has wrapped on Star Wars: Episode IX

OHMYGOSSIP — J.J. Abrams has revealed filming has wrapped on ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’.
The 52-year-old director – who has helmed the much-anticipated sci-fi movie – has taken to Twitter to confirm that he’s finished shooting the upcoming movie, posting a behind-the-scenes photograph of the main cast sharing a hug on set.
Alongside a shot of John Boyega, Daisy Ridley and Oscar Isaac embracing each other, J.J. wrote: “It feels impossible, but today wrapped photography on Episode IX. There is no adequate way to thank this truly magical crew and cast. I’m forever indebted to you all. (sic)”
The film is the third instalment of the ‘Star Wars’ sequel trilogy, following ‘The Force Awakens’ and ‘The Last Jedi’, and is slated for release in December 2019.
Meanwhile, J.J. previously revealed he was determined to include the late Carrie Fisher – who played Princess Leia – in the upcoming movie.
The actress passed away in December 2016, but the director was still desperate to include Leia in the final chapter of the trilogy.
He shared: “Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without [Carrie] eluded us. We were never going to recast, or use a CG character.
“With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie, we have found a way to honour Carrie’s legacy and role as Leia in ‘Episode IX’ by using unseen footage we shot together in ‘Episode VII’.”

John Legend: Grammy boycott won’t fix problems

OHMYGOSSIP — John Legend doesn’t believe boycotting the Grammys fixes “the problem” of the Recording Academy’s attitude towards hip-hop.
The 40-year-old star acknowledged that there’s a lack of cohesion between the hip-hop community and the Academy – but he doesn’t think a boycott will lead to any kind of long-term solution.
Asked what he makes of artists like Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Z and Kanye West deciding to boycott the ceremony, John explained: “Historically, the Academy’s had a problem with hip-hop [so] I understand the impulse to withdraw and not participate and say, ‘this is all bull***t’ but of course that doesn’t fix the problem.
“I would love for the solution to be that we, as younger artists, as artists in the hip-hop community, got more involved and make up a larger bloc of the votes, so the music we make gets its proper dues.
“But I also understand the reactions of people that say, you know, ‘screw it, I don’t want to show up.’ It’s a conundrum.”
John has been outspoken about various social and political issues over recent years, including gun control.
And the chart-topping singer – whose new song, ‘Preach’, was inspired by negative news in the US – hopes to see some meaningful changes.
He told the BBC: “Every time there’s a gun massacre in America, which is way too often, politicians come out and say, ‘We send our hopes and prayers to the victims and their families’ and then they don’t do anything about it.
“So the song is basically a rebuke of the people in power.
“If you look at any polls, there’s only a small minority that are against background checks, a small minority that are against other regulations.
“We’re looking at 80 or 90 percent approval on a lot of these provisions. So it really is the politicians who are lagging behind the people.”

Kim Zolciak-Biermann hopes her daughters resist plastic surgery temptation

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Zolciak-Biermann hopes her daughters resist the temptation to have plastic surgery.
The 40-year-old TV star – who has kids Brielle, 21, Ariana, 17, Kroy, seven, Kash, six, and five-year-olds Kaia and Kane – has undergone surgery herself, but is keen for her children to resist following suit.
She shared: “I’m very open with my children on that.
“I am not open to any plastic surgery on my girls at this time. I tell them, you know, when you’re done having kids and all that good stuff, worry about all that stuff later on down the road, if that’s what you want to do, but you guys are beautiful and so young.”
Kim – who originally rose to prominence on ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ – feels the pressure young girls now face is “heartbreaking”.
She told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “Ariana, now, she’s lost, like, 30 lbs. She works out at the gym every day. She’s itty-bitty tiny. She’s really kind of come into her own.
“But at the time, a lot of her friends are on the smaller side … they’re, like, a size negative-zero, 99 percent of her friends, so to her, she’s like, ‘I’m fat, and I’m this…’ and it’s just hard, and it’s heartbreaking.
“People on Instagram, especially, are so f***ing rude about it that I have to monitor her page constantly because of the nasty comments, ‘You’re fat, you’ve always been fat…’ just horrible, mean, mean things.
“Now, they’re saying all she does is Photoshop her pictures, because she’s not that small. It’s a constant battle, and I always want my girls to love themselves, no matter what size they are.”

Charlize Theron: I was kissing myself at seven

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlize Theron “was making out with [herself] at seven”.
The Oscar-winning actress – who has recently been romantically linked to fellow Hollywood star Brad Pitt – revealed she mastered her kissing technique by smooching the inside of her elbow as a child.
She confessed: “I was making out with myself at seven, I made out with dolls and with myself in the mirror.”
The 43-year-old star – who has denied the rumours linking her to Brad, 55 – also joked that her childhood antics explain why she’s currently single.
Charlize – who has two adopted children, Jackson and August – told ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’: “It’s why I’m single.”
Despite being one of the most in-demand actresses in Hollywood, Charlize previously admitted she’s convinced she’ll get “fired” from every movie she works on.
The blonde beauty confessed to having some deep-rooted insecurities about her acting talents.
She said: “I still have this every single time I start a job, ‘I’m gonna get fired. They’re gonna find out I’m a terrible actor. This is gonna be the one. This is gonna be the job where they all find out I’m just a total lie.'”
However, Charlize thinks it’s important that female performers know their true value.
The ‘Tully’ star reflected: “We just need to not be so polite about it and say what we want? … The amount of traction and the amount of women who are being empowered by other women to step forward and actually speak their truth – I know in my life I’ve never seen anything like that.
“This is a rock rolling down a mountain really fast, and I’m quite enjoying watching it.”

Katy Perry thinks Orlando Bloom is the ‘right man’

OHMYGOSSIP — Katy Perry is convinced Orlando Bloom is the “right man for her life”.
The 34-year-old singer is engaged to the Hollywood actor, and the loved-up duo – who split in 2017, before rekindling their romance last year – are “over the moon” about the thought of married life.
A source explained: “Katy and Orlando have been looking forward to this day for a very long time and they are over the moon to embark on their lifetime commitment.
“They talked about an engagement even before their breakup in 2017 but Katy wasn’t ready. She just wasn’t ready at first but soon after some time away, she knew Orlando was the right man for her life.”
The pop star and Orlando, 42, rekindled their romance in January 2018, and although they’ve tried to keep their relationship out of the spotlight, they’ve been planning to tie the knot for “a very long time”.
The insider said: “They have been very hush, hush about it but have known for a very long time they wanted to be engaged. They have been preparing for this.”
And, apparently, no one is more excited about their engagement news than Orlando’s mother.
The source told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “She has wanted them to tie the knot since the moment she first met Katy. She literally can’t stop talking about it, and telling all her friends.”
By contrast, Katy previously claimed she didn’t expect to marry again.
The ‘Roar’ hitmaker – who was married to comedian Russell Brand between 2010 and 2012 – said: “I’m very pragmatic and logistical and I am less fantastical about things.
“I mean, I was married when I was 25. I’m 34. It was almost 10 years ago. I was like, ‘One person for the rest of my life,’ and I’m not so sure that that idea is for me. I’m just such a different person than I was.”

The 44-year-old singer – who was previously a member of Eternal, before launching her solo career in the 1990s – has penned a deal with the well-known record label, which is also home to the likes of Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Jess Glynne and Stormzy.
Louise – who appeared on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in the UK in 2016 – said: “25 years ago I signed my first solo deal with Parlophone, and I am so excited to be continuing my journey with the Warner Music family.
“I can’t wait for everyone to hear this new album.”
Louise took a break from the music industry in 2004, as she prepared for the arrival of her son Charley, and she subsequently turned her hand to presenting.

Liam Hemsworth almost wasn’t cast in The Last Song

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Hemsworth almost wasn’t cast in ‘The Last Song’.
The actor met his now wife Miley Cyrus when he starred opposite her in the 2010 romantic drama but Liam has revealed that he nearly missed out on the role.
Speaking during an interview with ‘Today’, Australian actor Liam, 29, said: “That was the first job I got [in the U.S.], and it was literally right at the end of my three-month visa. They cast another kid, and it didn’t work out with him.
“My agent calls me like, whispering, like ‘You’ve got to go to Disney right now. It’s not working out with the other guy. You’ve got to go in and read with Miley again.’
“I come in and everyone starts clapping like, ‘We should have gone with you first!’ It’s sort of weird how it all comes together, and then 10 years later I’m here, married.”
Meanwhile, Liam recently admitted he gets “embarrassed” about receiving acting awards as he “already feels so privileged” to do something that he loves.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight after receiving an award at the 16th Annual G’Day USA Gala in Culver City, California, recently, he said: “I was just saying, I get embarrassed I get awards for acting because I already feel so privileged to do something that I love so much. It’s such a great position to be in but I’m very thankful and grateful to receive this award. It’s really cool.”
Meanwhile, the actor also admitted the loss of anonymity that has come with fame has been difficult but being able to look after his loved ones financially is a bonus.
He said: “Initially the hardest part to adjust to is just the way people approach you now and react to you. You lose a lot of your anonymity. And I think that’s obviously something, if you are going to be successful in this business, that you are going to have to deal with one day. I still consider my life normal – it is normal to me. I guess, to some people weird stuff happens in my life that would be considered not normal. But so many great things have happened since ‘The Hunger Games’ and it has allowed me to be a lot more financially secure and help out people that I care about.”

Glenn Close loved sharing The Wife role with her daughter

OHMYGOSSIP — Glenn Close found it “very special” to share her role in ‘The Wife’ with her daughter.
The 71-year-old actress has won praise for her portrayal of Joan Castleman in the movie, and she was very proud with the work her daughter Annie Maude Starke put into playing the younger version of the character.
She told Closer magazine: “It was very special, because she really had to lay down the foundations of the character.
“There was more of a back story to young Joan in that she came from a very wealthy New York family and she fell in love with her professor who was married and it was all a big scandal.”
Glenn is hotly tipped for the Best Actress statuette at the upcoming Academy Awards, and after six other previous nominations in the past, she believes it’s the role, rather than the performance that captures the attention of the academy.
She said of her nominations: “They’re the best parts I’ve been given. I have a theory about the Oscars – I think a lot of times it’s the role.
“If you’re lucky enough to get a role where you can show what you can do, people pay more attention.”
The ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ actress doesn’t think she’s particularly like any of the characters she’s played over the years.
She explained: “I don’t think I’m like any of my characters. I’m not a hugely social person. I’ve accepted the fact I’m basically an introvert and that’s OK.”

Tom Jones would’ve quit recording if he wasn’t given It’s Not Unusual

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Tom Jones threatened to go back to Wales if he wasn’t allowed to sing ‘It’s Not Unusual’.
The legendary star admitted that although he recorded the demo for the 1694 hit, the song was originally intended for Sandie Shaw.
However, the 78-year-old musician threatened to leave London and quit recording if he wasn’t given the song for himself.
Speaking on the ‘George Ezra and Friends’ podcast, he said: “We did ‘It’s Not Unusual’ and when I heard it back I said I gotta have this song and I mean Gordon [Mills] was going, well he wasn’t fussed about it, but Les [Reed] was going ‘Well Sandie Shaw you know she’s had these number one records who the hell are you to get hold of this song’.
“I said ‘Well I gotta have this song if I don’t get this song I’m going back to Wales’. That’s how strong I felt about this song. ”
The ‘Delilah’ hitmaker went on to explain that although he was serious about his threat, Sandie didn’t take much convincing to give him the track as she decided immediately upon hearing the demo that the song belonged to Tom.
He said: “I meant it oh yeah; I mean what else could I threaten them with? What could I threaten Gordon with? Than saying I’m going back and do some shows in his worker men clubs which I was doing alright with.
“So they played it to Sandie Shaw and she said ‘Whoever’s singing this song that’s his song, I couldn’t sing it like that’.”
Tom added that the song which Sandie heard wasn’t the final version, and originally featured the voices of his manager and songwriter acting as the band.
He said: “We re-recorded it, it was just the rhythm section and Les and Gordon doing the background it was like voices…but it was like a milder version.”

Paul Young recovering from pneumonia

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Young is recovering from pneumonia.
The 63-year-old musician is preparing to embark on a UK tour but has admitted that he is still finding everyday tasks such as walking up the stairs difficult after his recent battle with the lung infection.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, he said: “I have just got over pneumonia. It has been tough, took it out of me.
“I had to admit myself to hospital in the end. It started off as a cold and then it just got worse.
“I am still recovering from it and I am still finding it hard doing stuff like walking up stairs. The tour starts in a few weeks so I will be fit by then.”
Paul’s wife Stacey Young, 52, died in January 2018, two years after being diagnosed with cancer and Paul revealed that Stacey’s illness made him look after his own health.
He explained: “When she first got ill, we all said we’d cut out sugar, because it aggravates cancer, so we did that as a show of solidarity with Stacey.
“Having said that, looking after her for those two years, I wasn’t looking after myself, so I’ve got back on the trail now.”
Young met Stacey on the video shoot for his second single, ‘Come Back and Stay’, in 1983, and they tied the knot four years later when they were living together in Los Angeles.
The couple split in 2006 and she subsequently had a fourth child, a son called Jude, with Israeli businessman Ilan Slazenger.
But they reconciled in 2009 and Young eventually became Jude’s step-father.

Ant McPartlin blasts Piers Morgan

OHMYGOSSIP — Furious Ant McPartlin has slammed Piers Morgan for questioning his National Television Awards win.
Piers questioned why 43-year-old Ant – who took a year out to focus on his sobriety – won the Best Presenter award alongside Declan Donnelly and Ant reportedly hit back with an angry email.
A source told the Daily Mirror: “Ant sent him an email saying he takes his recovery very seriously and he didn’t appreciate Piers belittling it by saying all he has done is walk the dog.
“Ant did work last year – he presented nearly the whole series of ‘Takeaway’ and all the audition shows of ‘BGT’.
“He then worked hard on his recovery. To suggest that all he did was walk the dog insults everyone who is in recovery or suffering from mental health issues. Ant pointed this all out to Piers.”
Following the win, ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter Piers lashed out at Ant live on air.
He fumed: “It’s like Ant and Dec always winning it even though Ant hasn’t worked for a year.
“It’s like ‘Come on! How did you get a nom?’ I’m sorry but how did that happen? “Dec? Sure he’s put a shift in, us? Hundreds of days at the coal face in the morning.
“Walking the dog for a year, television personality of the year. Me? Coal face every morning, hours on end, week after week…nothing, not a dickie bird.
“Imagine Britain, if that is a reasonable way to conduct the awards season business, seriously.”
