RuPaul’s Drag Race UK: Graham Norton and Alan Carr set for judges roles

OHMYGOSSIP — Graham Norton and Alan Carr have joined ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ as rotating resident judges.
The chat show hosts – who have both been big fans of the original US version of the show for a long time – have been confirmed for the UK take on the drag queen competition, and Graham is excited for his new role.
He said: “Becoming part of the drag race family makes me ridiculously happy! I can’t wait to see what the UK drag queens bring to the party, but they better weeeeerk!!!”
In a Twitter video, he quipped: “Maybe this is what the UK’s good at.”
The 55-year-old star and Alan, 42, will rotate on the BBC Three programme each week – joining regular judges RuPaul, Michelle Visage and a celebrity guest judge – while they will both appear for the finale.
While Graham has some experience after being a guest judge on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars’ in the US, Alan will be joining the team for the first time.
The ‘Chatty Man’ host said: “Wow! To be sat next to Michelle Visage and Mama Ru as a guest judge on possibly one of my all-time favourite shows EVER is a dream come true.
“I can’t wait to see what the UK Queens have got in store – it’s going to be sickening! *does death drop*”
The UK edition will follow a similar format to its predecessor in the US, with 10 contestants competing in individual and team challenges.
RuPaul – who hosted and created the show – said he was “delighted” to hear that the two stars would be joining the panel.
He joked: “I was both shocked and delighted when Graham and Alan told me they’d be wearing tucking panties when sitting at the judges’ table.
“I told them it was not necessary, but they insisted. Now that’s what I call dedication!”

James Morrison’ ‘felt like a failure’ after being dropped by label

OHMYGOSSIP — James Morrison “felt like a failure” after being dropped by his record label.
The ‘Broken Strings’ hitmaker is set to release his first album in four years, ‘You’re Stronger Than You Know’, in March, which comes after a break from the spotlight which saw him go through a testing time after his daughter Ada-Rose was born 13 weeks premature.
But as the album title suggests, he’s back and feeling “stronger” than ever before.
In an interview with The Sun newspaper, he said: “I feel really positive.
“I’ve made good music and I’m doing it for the right reasons.”
James – who won the Brit Award for Best British Male in 2007 – has admitted that his new record is his chance to showcase his soulful voice and what he is about as his previous records were always more pop-driven.
He said: “It’s the album I always wanted to make but never could.
“There’s space on this record which allows for people to hear what I am trying to say. That’s what I feel is good about being a bit older.”
The ‘You Give Me Something’ hitmaker – who also has a 10-year-old daughter Elsie with his wife Gill – felt like he was being “cast on the heap” after having so much success and then being “passed around” at his former label.
The 56-year-old star says on top of losing the backing of a major record deal, new artists of his elk, like James Bay and George Ezra, were signed by his management team, which “upset” him and made him feel like he needed to breakaway from the singer/songwriter style.
He said: “I felt like a failure. It was like being rejected and cast on to the heap.
“My A&R guy had changed about three times and I felt I was being passed around as if they were saying, ‘We don’t need you any more. We’ve used you for what we can use you for.’
“On top of that, my management company had signed George Ezra, James Bay and John Newman, so it made being dropped feel worse. It upset me a lot.”
James’ new LP – which features the Joss Stone collaboration ‘My Love Goes On’ – is released on March 8.

Charlize Theron to play immortal warrior

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlize Theron is to lead the cast of a new comic book movie.
The ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ actress is to star in the film adaptation of ‘The Old Guard’, a five-issue comic book series about immortal warriors, in which she will play the 5,000-year-old Andronika the Scythian, who is known as Andy, the Daily Mail newspaper reports.
Andy is the leader of the warriors, an Amazon from the Herodotus age of ancient Greece and has no idea why she’s still alive.
Starring alongside Charlize as another immortal warrior will be ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ actress KiKi Layne, who will portray newest recruit Nile, a US Marine. A third role will be that of a French Renaissance thief, but their casting has not been revealed yet.
‘The Old Guard’ comics were produced by writer Greg Rucka and illustrator Leandro Fernandez and the authors have described their work as a “fairytale of blood and bullets”.
‘The Secret Life of Bees’ filmmaker Gina Prince-Bythewood will direct the movie, which is due to shoot this year in a number of locations, including Morocco and London.
Charlize recently admitted she’s always convinced she’ll get “fired” on every movie she works on.
She said: “I still have this every single time I start a job, ‘I’m gonna get fired. They’re gonna find out I’m a terrible actor. This is gonna be the one. This is gonna be the job where they all find out I’m just a total lie.'”
And the 43-year-old star previously urged women not to be so “polite” when asking for equal pay.
She said: “I am in a position where I could put my foot down and say, I want equal pay to my male co-star, who I had billed another movie with. We were doing a sequel, we had done it together, why not? What was interesting about it was I had a studio that said all right. And I was like, oh? We just need to say this? We just need to not be so polite about it and say what we want? … The amount of traction and the amount of women who are being empowered by other women to step forward and actually speak their truth, I know in my life I’ve never seen anything like that. This is a rock rolling down a mountain really fast, and I’m quite enjoying watching it.”

Shane Richie reveals he was homeless at 16

OHMYGOSSIP — Shane Richie was left homeless after an acting job fell through when he was just 16 years old.
The ‘EastEnders’ star, now 54, has opened up about sleeping on the streets as a teenager when he moved to Plymouth before a potential role didn’t materialise, leaving him spending his first night in a shop doorway.
Speaking to the Mirror, he said “I slept rough for no more than 10 days before the grim reality kicked in and sent me home with my dirty, unwashed tail firmly between my legs.
“When I think back, I see a 16-year-old boy who hadn’t been abandoned by his family, who didn’t have mental health issues or drug and alcohol addictions. But what I did experience was being invisible; being looked through.”
Despite spending a relatively short time on the street before moving back to London, Shane – who plays Alfie Moon on the soap – acknowledged that he was lucky to have another option.
He added: “I didn’t choose to be homeless, no-one does, but unlike others I met in the same predicament I was lucky enough to have options to go to back in London.”
During his time on the streets, he found a homeless community, which has given him a different perspective.
He explained: “The people I’ve spoken to over the years, who are living on our streets, are not looking for pity but dignity.
“So next time you pass someone curled up in a doorway in the freezing cold, just think that whoever it is under that filthy blanket is someone’s son, daughter, brother, sister, mum or dad… and that in the blink of an eye, it could be me or you.”

EastEnders’ Cheryl Fergison wants free studio time to record debut album

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘EastEnders’ actress Cheryl Fergison has revealed plans to become a musician after writing songs for her first album.
The soap star – who played Heather Trott on the BBC show for five years until 2012 – has been working on some material for a yet-to-be recorded LP, and she has posted on social media looking for “free studio time”.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote “I’ve written the songs and now just created the album cover… What do you think? I just need to record them … any free studio time going anywhere?
“I would love to record the album in different cities I’m touring in at the moment… a song recorded in each country… Scotland, Ireland England and Wales… I’m currently in Scotland… free studios?”
Cheryl last appeared on ‘EastEnders’ seven years ago when Heather was killed off by Ben Mitchell, and she went on to have roles in ‘The Spa’ and ‘Big School’.
In January last year, she publicly called out to ITV to consider her for a part on ‘Coronation Street’ or ‘Emmerdale’.
She tweeted at the time: “It seems many of the soap watching public would like to see me on the cobbles or in the dales.
“[Emmerdale and Coronation Street] worth considering if you are thinking of new characters?
“Heather was such a great character to play. Now it’s time to create a new character. Time to see a completely different character in one of the other continuing dramas.”
She added: “If you would like to see me in one of the continuing dramas on tv, feel free to tweet to @ITV @itvcorrie @emmerdale @bbcrivercity @BBCHolbyCity”

Felicity Jones had dental crowns to play Ruth Bader Ginsburg

OHMYGOSSIP — Felicity Jones had to have her teeth capped while playing Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
The 35-year-old actress portrays Ruth, who was the second ever Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, in the 2018 legal drama ‘On the Basis of Sex’ and the Felicity admitted that to replicate the judge’s “perfectly formed American teeth” she had to receive dental crowns – a tooth-shaped cap placed over a tooth to improve appearance – over her pointed teeth.
Speaking on ‘The Graham Norton Show’, the English actress said: “I kept looking at Ruth and she had the most perfectly formed American teeth, and then I would look at mine, which are distinctly British and a little bit gnarly, so I had my pointy ones capped while I was shooting. It sounds painful but it wasn’t too bad.”
The biographical legal drama follows a young Ruth as a struggling attorney and new mother who takes on a groundbreaking tax case with her husband, attorney Martin Ginsburg (Armie Hammer), which could change the direction of her career and sets her on a path to fight for gender equality in the US.
The ‘Rouge One: A Star Wars Story’ actress went on to praise Ruth and insisted she is “so beloved” the only person who can live up to the real person is Ruth herself but she did her best as the actress telling her life story on screen.
She said: “She is so beloved that really the only person that could play Ruth Bader Ginsburg is Ruth Bader Ginsburg so I definitely had a lot to live up to.”
Armie, 32, added that his character Martin was “too good to be true” and such an “amazing person” that he didn’t know “what to do with him”.
He said: “When I read the script it described a husband that was incredibly progressive and supportive and perfect and charming and I thought, ‘This guy is too good to be true,’ so I employed a researcher to find out where the bodies were buried!
“I felt sure there was something wrong with him, but he really was the most amazing person and everyone loved him. He was so perfect that, as an actor, I found it hard to know what to do with him.”
‘The Graham Norton Show’ airs on BBC One on Friday (15.02.19) 10.35pm.

Kenny G performs for Kim Kardashian West

OHMYGOSSIP — Kanye West hired Kenny G to perform a private Valentine’s Day (14.02.19) concert for his wife Kim Kardashian West.
The 38-year-old reality star hailed her spouse as the “best husband” for his “thoughtful” gesture as she shared photos and clips of the jazz musician, 62, playing saxophone for her in a sparsely-decorated room in their Hidden Hills mansion.
One Instagram Story clip was captioned simply: “Kenny G!!!!!”
And in another, she wrote: “Best husband award goes to mine!!!! Most thoughtful gifts ever!!!! (sic)”
Kenny wore a black suit and white shirt as he played ‘Over The Rainbow’ from the film ‘The Wizard Of Oz’ and was standing in a room with no furniture, but dozens of pink, red and white roses placed in individual vases all over the floor.
Meanwhile, 41-year-old Kanye could be seen with a broad smile as he filmed the performance.
Earlier in the day, the ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star – who has children North, five, Saint, three, and Chicago, 12 months, with her spouse and is expecting a fourth via surrogate – had paid tribute to the ‘Famous’ rapper on her Instagram account.
She shared two pictures of them together and wrote: “Happy Valentines Day babe!!! I love you so much!(sic)”
Kanye’s grand gesture is in stark contrast to the minimal effort he made on Valentine’s Day in 2018.
Last year, he shared a photo of the plain homemade white card he’d made for Kim, which had “Happy Valentines Day Babe” written on the front.
But in 2017, Kim was blown away by the huge wall of flowers that surprised her when she got home from a romantic dinner at Carbone in Manhattan with her husband.
She said in a Snapchat video at the time: “Oh my God! Just walked in and look what I see — a huge flower wall with orchids and roses.”

Armie Hammer had to boost standards

OHMYGOSSIP — Armie Hammer’s wife has made him lift his “standards” since seeing him in ‘On the Basis of Sex’.
The 32-year-old actor plays Martin Ginsburg, the supportive husband of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the upcoming biopic and he admitted his character has now impacted on his marriage because his spouse Elizabeth Chambers – the mother of his children Harper, four, and two-year-old Ford – always compares him to the lawyer.
He said: “It’s a high standard to live up to, and now that my wife has seen the film, every so often if I fail to live up to his standards she casually looks at me and says, ‘Marty wouldn’t do that.’ ”
When he first received the script for the film, Armie “employed a researcher” to find Martin’s bad points because he seems “too good to be true” and he admitted, upon finding he really was as good a person as had been depicted, he found it a “hard” role to play.
Speaking to UK TV talk show host Graham Norton, he said: “When I read the script it described a husband that was incredibly progressive and supportive and perfect and charming and I thought, ‘This guy is too good to be true,’ so I employed a researcher to find out where the bodies were buried!
“I felt sure there was something wrong with him, but he really was the most amazing person and everyone loved him. He was so perfect that, as an actor, I found it hard to know what to do with him.”
Armie – who stars opposite Felicity Jones in the movie recently claimed the movie helped him become a better father and husband.
He explained: “I was blown away with how progressive their relationship would seem now, and much more so in the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s.
“It taught me how to be an even better husband and a more supportive husband and a better father.”
The full interview with Armie airs on ‘The Graham Norton Show’ on BBC One on Friday (15.02.19) night.

Karen Elson had ‘traumatising experience’ with Ryan Adams

OHMYGOSSIP — Karen Elson had a “traumatising experience” with Ryan Adams.
The 40-year-old model-and-singer doesn’t feel “brave” enough to give the “specifics” of what happened between her and the ‘Wonderwall’ singer but wanted to lend her support to the seven women – including his ex-wife Mandy Moore and former fiancee Megan Butterworth – who had spoken to the New York Times newspaper for an expose published this week about the alleged emotional abuse and controlling behaviour they experienced from the 44-year-old musician.
She wrote on Instagram: “I also had a traumatizing experience with Ryan Adams.
“While I’m not quite brave enough yet to speak about my specifics. I’m encouraged that many women have bonded and helped each other heal. This is the power of sisterhood and I’m very grateful for these women.
“I hope all those speaking out are given the grace and dignity they deserve. The trauma that lingers is often a very powerful silencer of women as is the business that enables these men to thrive without ever facing consequences.(sic)”
In response, Mandy shared a screenshot of the post on her own Instagram Story and praised Karen – who was the opening act for a number of shows on Ryan’s summer 2017 tour – for her “bravery”.
She wrote: “I [heart emoji] you so much and commend your bravery, @misskarenelson.(sic)”
After the expose was published on Wednesday (13.02.19), Karen admitted she had been left “deeply disturbed by the allegations”.
She added on an Instagram Story post: “I support all the women who are coming forward to share their experiences of trauma and abuse. These women are tremendously courageous and are advocates on behalf of all women. Please be kind to them! #MeToo and #TimesUp (sic)”
In the article, ‘This Is Us’ star Mandy alleged her former husband was “psychologically abusive” and belittled her singing talents.
She added: “Music was a point of control for him. He would always tell me, ‘You’re not a real musician, because you don’t play an instrument.’
“His controlling behaviour essentially did block my ability to make new connections in the industry during a very pivotal and potentially lucrative time – my entire mid-to-late 20s.”
However, Ryan’s lawyer told the publication that the allegations were “completely inconsistent with [Ryan’s] view of the relationship” and that he supported her “well-deserved professional success”.
Also among the women to accuse the musician of abusive behaviour was ‘Ava’, a now 20-year-old bass player who alleged she struck up an online correspondence with the musician when she was just 13 and accused him of exposing himself over Skype video chats.
The pair first connected over music, as she was and up and coming bass player but their texts soon turned graphic. In one message, he had told her: “i would get in trouble if someone knew we talked like this (sic)”
Andrew B. Brettler, the star’s lawyer, said: “Mr. Adams unequivocally denies that he ever engaged in inappropriate online sexual communications with someone he knew was underage.”
Though he’s denied the allegations against him, Ryan has apologised “deeply and unreservedly” for his “many mistakes”.
He tweeted: “As someone who has always tried to spread joy through my music and my life, hearing that some people believe I caused them pain saddens me greatly. I am resolved to work to be the best man I can be. And I wish everyone compassion, understanding and healing. But the picture that this article paints is upsettingly inaccurate.
“Some of its details are misrepresented; some are exaggerated; some are outright false. I would never have inappropriate interactions with someone I thought was underage. Period.
“I am not a perfect man and I have made many mistakes. To anyone I have ever hurt, however unintentionally, I apologise deeply and unreservedly.”

Liam Gallagher to add more Oasis songs to solo set

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher is to add more Oasis tracks to his setlist after growing demand from fans.
The ‘Wonderwall’ group’s former frontman has been answering requests for songs from his three million followers on Twitter, and has promised to play ‘Stay Young’, the B-side to ‘D’You Know What I Mean?’ from 1997’s ‘Be Here Now’, which was played 40 times by the band, but hasn’t been performed live since the year it was released 22 years ago.
When one fan asked for the song, Liam replied: “It’s happening eh how do you know these things you got me bugged. (sic)”
The ‘Wall of Glass’ hitmaker also plans on adding ‘She’s Electric’ from 1995’s seminal ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’, which was last played in 2002 on the ‘Heathen Chemistry Tour’, seven years before the band split up.
On whether he’ll play the fan-favourite, the 46-year-old rocker tweeted: “Why not eh have you bugged me how do you know these things (sic)”
However, Liam has ruled out playing ‘Four Letter Word’ by his old band Beady Eye – which he formed after Oasis broke up in 2009 – despite adding their song ‘Soul Love’ to his set every now and again.
He wrote: “Nah man don’t feel rite (sic)”
The group – which was also comprised of his former Oasis members Gem Archer, Andy Bell, and Chris Sharrock – last played ‘Four Letter Word’ from their first of two albums, ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding’, which was followed by ‘BE’ in 2013, at Zepp Namba Osaka in Japan on their final tour in March 2014.
Meanwhile, the ‘Songbird’ songwriter – who is currently working on his second solo album, following the huge success of his 2017 debut effort ‘As You Were’ – has revealed his forthcoming documentary ‘As It Was’ is finished.
He tweeted: “Just seen the film As it was and it’s mega well done to all involved as you were as it was who are ya want some d***head LG x (sic)”
The film will document Liam’s tumultuous relationship with his brother and former bandmate Noel Gallagher, 51, who he has been at loggerheads with since the guitarist quit the band after Liam hit him around the head with his guitar backstage at their final show in Paris in 2009.
Liam has teamed up with the director behind his music video for ‘Chinatown’, Charlie Lightening – who also worked on Beady Eye’s promos, including 2010’s ‘Bright the Light’ and 2013’s ‘Soul Love’, on the project.
It also takes a look back at the rock ‘n’ roll hell-raiser’s wild partying days, legal battles and journey to solo stardom.
A description for the documentary states that it “tells the emotional story of how one of the greatest rock frontmen went from the dizzying heights of his champagne supernova years in Oasis to living on the edge, ostracized and lost in the musical wilderness of boredom, booze and legal battles”.
It adds: “The film depicts Liam emerging from Noel’s shadow, managing expectations from being in the biggest band in the world to starting alone again alone, stripped bare, with nowhere to hide.”

Brody Jenner feels lucky after treatment

OHMYGOSSIP — Brody Jenner feels “pretty lucky” to have had his elbow “put back together”.
The 35-year-old reality star injured his arm after falling off a one-wheeled hoverboard earlier this month and is thankful he “lives in 2019” where medical treatment means he is able to have the damage repaired and then embark on a rehabilitation programme instead of having it “chopped off”.
Earlier this month, Brody took to Instagram to joke about the effects of anesthesia after his operation.
Alongside a picture of himself in hospital and a short video of him answering questions as he woke up after the surgery, he wrote: “Just want to say thank you to Dr Modabber and his incredible team for putting my elbow back together.
“Apparently [my dog] Shoey and I were snowboarding in Park city while I was under. Thanks for all the get well wishes!”
And Brody – who was out with his wife Kaitlynn Carter when the accident happened – has now shared an X-ray photo of his elbow as he discussed his progress.
He captioned the post: “Feeling pretty lucky to live in 2019. If this was a few hundred years ago they might of just chopped the lower half of my arm off, filled it with leeches and sent me home.
In all seriousness feeling very fortunate. Rehabilitation starts today!”
And he seems to be on the mend as shortly afterwards, his Instagram Story documented his Valentine’s Day (14.02.19) date at a museum with his wife.
The ‘Hills’ star had previously shared his accident on his Instagram Story.
In a video clip, Kaitlynn rode the motorised board on grass before her husband decided to ride it down to a beach, only to fall off. He then showed his injured arm to the camera.

Brendan O’Carroll refused to sell-out Agnes Brown to advertisers

OHMYGOSSIP — Brendan O’Carroll says he wasn’t interested in selling out his Agnes Brown character to advertisers.
The 63-year-old comedian – who is best known for playing the outrageous Irish mother in sitcom ‘Mrs. Brown’s Boys’ – refused to sell the rights to his alter ego, and he insisted he has turned down numerous offers to appear in commercials for household goods and everyday food items over the years.
He’s quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: “People wanted her for adverts but in the end I said no.
“I felt that if we do this then we would end up being tied to it for life and I didn’t want that.
“And anyway the product would have to have been really massive to make it worth it – something like a Christmas ad for M&S or Tesco.”
Meanwhile, Brendan also recently revealed that he snubbed an offer from the BBC to remake “Allo ‘Allo.’
The TV star said the broadcaster was keen for him to swap Anges Brown’s wig and Apron for cafe owner Rene Artoi’s famous waistcoat for a revival of the 1980s sitcom.
He previously said: “We were asked to remake ”Allo ‘Allo’ using our cast. I’d have been Rene. it sounded intriguing and I was tempted.
“But down the line, I’d seen some comedy remakes during the last couple of years and I just thought: ‘No. They don’t compare’. It was what it was at the time.”
Brendan also turned down the idea because he doesn’t see the need for remakes when the originals are still so beloved by the public.
He explained: “I remember one year when the TV ratings came in and during one week the most-viewed show on telly that night was a repeat of ‘Mrs. Brown’s Boys’ and the second most popular was ‘Dad’s Army’.
“It shows they still stand up! I say why re-invent Champagne. You just end up with sparkling wine.”

He said: “I’m super excited to bring ‘F*** Me I’m Famous’ to Hi Ibiza for the first time this year!
“We will bring you the same crazy party, but with some new surprising elements. I can’t wait to return to Ibiza to party with everyone!”
‘F*** Me I’m Famous!’ is a compilation series, which was created by the ‘Say My Name’ hitmaker in 2003 with his ex-wife Cathy, and has become somewhat of an institution in the clubbing capital.
A full line-up for the lengthy residency is set to be announced shortly.
On top of the Ibiza shows, it was recently confirmed that the ‘Titanium’ hitmaker’s Las Vegas residency at Wynn Nightlife’s Encore Beach Club will continue until 2020.
He’ll bring the party to Sin City every Saturday from April through to early June 2019, with more dates planned for the following year.
Guetta first started playing Vegas shows in 2012.
Alex Cordova, Wynn Nightlife’s managing partner, said: “David Guetta has been a massive asset to our programming and we are thrilled to have him maintain his exclusive Las Vegas residency with Wynn Nightlife.
“We look forward to working with him on even larger-scale productions that will continue to provide our guests with the ultimate experience.”
Super early bird tickets for his ‘F*** Me I’m Famous!’ residency are on sale now from hiibiza.com and are expected to sell out fast.
