Selma Blair wants to create disability friendly fashion line

OHMYGOSSIP — Selma Blair wants to create a “chic” fashion line for disabled people.
The ‘Cruel Intentions’ actress was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2018 and made her first public appearance at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, last Sunday (24.02.19) since going public with her condition – which affects the central nervous system, disrupting the flow of information within the brain and between the brain and body – and she proudly showed off a cane she was using to support her movement.
The 46-year-old star has now revealed that she wants to partner with Christian Siriano – who created Billy Porter’s tuxedo gown for the Academy Awards – to create a disabled friendly collection that is stylish and “comfortable”.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, she said: “Dressing is a s**t show. I would like to partner with someone like Christian Siriano on a line for everyone – not just people who necessarily need adaptive clothing – but for those who want comfort, too. It can still be chic. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice style. Like, let’s get elastic waistbands to look a little bit better. I have met so many people on Instagram who have said that they were always ashamed of their cane. You want to still be part of the living, not a shuffling person people get out of the way for because they’re queasy. A cane, I think, can be a great fashion accessory. I really feel like people with disabilities are invisible to a lot of people. Because they’re uncomfortable, or don’t have the energy to dress up, don’t want to be seen.”
Selma – who has seven-year-old son Arthur with her ex, fashion designer Jason Bleick – also insisted that following her MS diagnosis she is “happy” and wants others to feel “comfortable” in their own skin.
She added: “There’s no tragedy for me. I’m happy, and if I can help anyone be more comfortable in their skin, it’s more than I’ve ever done before.”

Claire Danes would wear shop bought dresses to red carpets

OHMYGOSSIP — Claire Danes would wear a “store bought” dress to awards ceremonies when she first started her career.
The ‘Homeland’ star started her critically acclaimed television career as a 15-year-old star in the ABC series, ‘My So Called Life’, and was later scouted for her first leading role on the big screen in 1996 for Baz Luhrmann’s BAFTA award-winning ‘Romeo + Juliet’ opposite Leonardo DiCaprio.
However, the 39-year-old star has revealed that when she would attend prestigious award shows, she would wear a dress she picked out from a shop, because there wasn’t any “stylists or makeup” artists at that point in her career.
Speaking to Mastermind magazine, she said: “The carpet thing has grown over the course of my career. There weren’t stylists when I started. We barely had a makeup person. I would wear a dress that I bought at a store. I basically just have to wear the thing with some conviction.”
The blonde beauty – who is married to ‘Confessions of a Shopaholic’ star Hugh Dancy – also admitted that she’s stopped using social media altogether because she didn’t like how much Instagram was a part of her daily life.
She added: “Love to hashtag. But I just sort of capsized … I wasn’t convinced that it was making much of a difference for me, career-wise. I know it’s easy language now, but I don’t like to think of myself as a brand. I didn’t like that I started to move through my day framing my experiences in terms of Instagram. One day I just gave up. And you know what? I’m okay.”

Maggie Gyllenhaal: Cancelling The Deuce would have been misguided

OHMYGOSSIP — Maggie Gyllenhaal thinks it would have been “misguided” to cancel ‘The Deuce’ after James Franco was accused of sexual misconduct.
The 40-year-old actor was accused of inappropriate behaviour towards five women on and off movie sets in an article published last January, prompting speculation the porn drama would be cancelled entirely.
While his co-star and producer on the HBO show believes “there have to be consequences for disrespecting women sexually, or at all”, she thinks pulling the plug would have sent the wrong message.
She told The Guardian newspaper: “The show is about misogyny and inequality in the entertainment business.
“And I feel that there are all of these fascinating women telling these stories that illuminate exactly what is on the table in terms of feminism at the moment. That would have felt misguided and confused to me.”
Maggie, who has been a vocal supporter of the Time’s Up movement, admitted her thinking on James’ role in the show “changes all the time”.
When it comes to her own work, the ‘Kindergarten Teacher’ admitted she doesn’t want to play cinema’s “fantasy version of the powerful woman” as she’d rather depict an “actual woman” with “some aspects that are powerful, and some that are confused, broken and vulnerable.”
She admitted: “I want all of it!”
Maggie previously admitted she had questioned every woman working on ‘The Deuce’ about James’ conduct towards them.
Asked if she had ignored the allegations or confronted the star and what to do in such a situation, she said: “I would’ve felt similarly as an actor, but I felt it was my responsibility to do the opposite of ignore it.
“You know, we at the time that the accusations against James came out in the LA Times we read them all, we took them very seriously.
“We spoke to every woman on the crew and in the cast to find out if they felt respected and what their experience of working with James was and everyone said that they had been totally respected by him.”
The actor has denied the allegations against him.

Ricky Gervais doubts he’d get Oscars job

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Gervais doesn’t think he’d be trusted enough to host the Oscars.
The 57-year-old comic – who fronted the Golden Globes in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2016 – would only present the Academy Awards on his own “terms”, which would mean he’d happily say “terrible things” about the star-studded audience and landing such a high-profile gig is likely to make him “more honest and braver” than play it safe.
Asked if he’s ever been asked to host the ceremony, he said: “I don’t think they ever would. Not on my terms anyway, and I don’t think they’d trust me, because I’ve said many times I would do it, but I would say what I want.
“I would do the same as I did at the Golden Globes and there’s no way the Oscars would allow that. They know I’d say that.
“Would I do it and be lovely like Billy Crystal? Not in a million years. Would I lie to them to get on there and say terrible things? No, I’d be honest, I’d say, I’m gonna say terrible things.
“Might I change and become all mellow and say nice things? Um, maybe. I doubt it though. I want to get more honest and braver if anything.”
Ricky has been in a relationship with novelist Jane Fallon for 37 years and thinks the key to their long-lasting romance is mutual respect and enjoying one another’s company.
He told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: “It’s respect, lots of things in common, enjoying each other’s company more than anyone else’s in the world, knowing how lucky you are.”
And the ‘After Life’ star insisted they lead a very quiet life together and only break their routine if a “really big thing” comes along.
He said: “I get home, work out, have a bath, downstairs, six o’clock, pop, cooking, drinking, Scandi noir box sets, that’s it. There has to be a really big thing to compete with that.”

Welshman Michael Sheen admits leeks made him vomit

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Sheen says eating leeks on St David’s Day used to make him vomit when he was a schoolboy.
The proud 50-year-old Welshman loves celebrating the feast day of the patron Saint of Wales – which falls on the first day of March – but he does not have an appetite for the vegetable, which are traditionally worn on the day along with daffodils as they are both the national emblems of the British country.
Appearing on ‘The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show’ on St David’s Day on Friday (01.03.19), he said: “I used to spend St David’s Day in Wales when I was growing up at school, we would all wear a leek, an actual leek, and through the day you’d sort of nibble at it.
“And my abiding memory of St David’s day growing up is being sick on the way home, throwing up leek all over my street!
“You’d start from the top. The leek is stuck to your jumper and you would just put your head down and eat it from the top down!”
The ‘Apostle’ actor fronts the Cardiff Homeless World Cup Bid 2019 but he won’t stepping onto the soccer pitch himself because he badly injured his knee a few years ago.
He said: “My playing days are over. I did my ACL (ligament) a couple of years ago. My leg fell apart, essentially. I was doing a fight in a film. I was doing a comedy fight. All I had to do is pretend I was throwing this young chap to the floor and my leg fell apart.
“I fell over, and by falling over it knocked it back in to place and was like, ‘Ready to go again!’ ”
Over 500 players are expected to travel to the Welsh capital and participate in the tournament this year.

Corrie’s Shelley King thinks the soap does a great job with sexuality

OHMYGOSSIP — Shelley King is pleased with the way ‘Coronation Street’ deals with “the difficulties of sexuality”.
The 63-year-old actress – who plays Yasmeen Nazir on the soap and has been open about being gay in real life – is happy to see the way Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia) and Kate Connor’s (Faye Brooks) relationship is being addressed on screen, and she thinks it can have a positive impact on other people wanting to come out themselves.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, she said: “When I was Bhavna’s age [34], it was very difficult to be gay, and people before me also found it very hard to come out.
“Things have changed and I think programmes like ‘Coronation Street’, which explore the difficulties of sexuality and transgender, are paving the way to help see that we’re all human beings.”
Shelley also heaped praise on the way ‘Corrie’ has addressed Rana’s faith too, and the views of the Muslim community.
She added: “Rana is a Muslim character, and her mum is very anti – but then you have Yasmeen, who is actually very supportive of Rana.
“And this reflects the Muslim community – there are people who understand, and there are people who do not. Their opinions must be valued and we must all learn to live with each other – that’s the lesson of this storyline.”
Rana is set to leave the soap this year in a harrowing storyline when the character is killed off around the time of her and Kate’s wedding.
Shelley – whose alter ego was Rana’s on-screen mother-in-law when she was married to Zeedan Nazir (Qasim Akhtar) – has admitted she will miss having Bhavna on set.
She said: “Well, just her being there and working with her. Yasmeen and Rana were very close because Rana reminded Yasmeen of herself.
“Yasmeen has been abandoned by her family – her son died, her grandson left, and her son’s wife died before she was on screen.
“Also, I’ll just miss the presence of a young actress to work with! Bhavna is a wonderful actor and I’e loved

Mark Wright says Michelle Keegan is the ‘most lazy person’

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Wright says his wife Michelle Keegan is the “most lazy person” when she’s off from work.
The 32-year-old presenter – who married the ‘Our Girl’ star in 2015 – has revealed that his spouse “is tired all the time” when she is off from filming different roles and insisted that he makes sure he gives her “20 minutes” to herself every morning because she is so “moody”.
Speaking to Heart Breakfast, Mark said: “She loves having me back and she’s off work right now so we’re spending lots of time together, skiing.
“Listen obviously, being an actress you work so many hours. So when you’re off…
“Well, but she definitely is [off]. She is the most lazy person when she’s off. She’s so tired all the time. What’s the time? 08:15? This is like 3am for you. She is asleep mate.
“She’s the happiest person in the world – I’ve got to make sure I say this right. In the morning, at least for the first 20 minutes I don’t say a word. I get her a coffee, and then I walk out the room and leave her to be because she’s moody in the morning. So I’m not sure I wanna call her but we could try.”
The former ‘TOWIE’ star recently quit his US TV show ‘Extra’ to return home from Los Angeles and live full-time with his wife in the UK, and Mark explained that he thinks England is the “best country on Earth”.
Opening up about the move, he added: “Yes it is done and dusted. I was debating it for a while, whether to come back whether to stay. I’m back. I’m back where I belong.
“It was hard and it is a bit of a lonely place sometimes. You know I love LA and I love the sunshine, I love what it is but the worst day of the week for me was a Saturday. I’d wake up on a Saturday morning about 8am, which is 4pm in the UK. My mates were playing football, rolling around in the mud, my dad was watching my brother who’s a pro footballer, or West Ham were playing. And I’d sit back in my house and go what am I gonna do today? The sun’s shining again – go out with some more actors or whatever – people trying to make it in the industry.
“No no but [laughs] it sounds amazing. But you just miss the normal things. Just like the things like – England I can now is the best country on Earth, it’s as simple as that.”

Duchess Meghan’s International Women’s Day panel

OHMYGOSSIP — Duchess Meghan is set to take part in a panel to mark International Women’s Day next week.
The 37-year-old former actress will be joined by the likes of pop legend and humanitarian Annie Lennox, 64, and model Adwoa Aboa, 26 – who co-founded the female empowerment organisations The Circle and Gurls Talk respectively.
The event is due to take place at King’s College London next Friday (08.03.19) and will see the women discuss the various issue women are faced with today in front of an audience of students and “opinion informers”.
A statement by Kensington Palace confirmed: “In front of an audience of students, opinion formers and young leaders, Her Royal Highness will join the panel to discuss the importance of International Women’s Day, and the spotlight it can bring to obstacles which still affect female empowerment across the world, including access to education and limitations within employment.
“The discussion will also cover the positive opportunities that come when women are given wider access and equal opportunity, whether that be in the UK or elsewhere in the world.”
Meghan – who is due to give birth to her first child with husband Prince Harry, 34, in around two months time – has been known for her feminist views and activism for many years.
In October, the Duchess of Sussex praised New Zealand on its 125th anniversary of giving women the right to vote.
The former ‘Suits’ star gave a moving speech as she visited Government House in Wellington, New Zealand, for a celebration of the historic milestone which saw the country become the first in the world to allow women to vote.
Meghan praised the country for the “impact” its decision had on other country’s views on women’s suffrage.
She said: “We are proud to be able to join you tonight in celebrating the 125th anniversary of women’s suffrage in your country.
“The achievements of the women of New Zealand who campaigned for their right to vote, and were the first in the world to achieve it, are universally admired. In looking forward to this very special occasion, I reflected on the importance of this achievement, but also the larger impact of what this symbolises.”

Khloe Kardashian hits out at ‘lying’ Jordyn Woods

OHMYGOSSIP — Khloe Kardashian has accused Jordyn Woods of “lying” and “trying to save” her own reputation.
The ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star has hit out at the 21-year-old model for “breaking up her family” after Jordyn and Khloe’s now-ex partner Tristan Thompson kissed at a recent party.
She fumed on Twitter: “Why are you lying @jordynwoods ?? If you’re going to try and save yourself by going public, INSTEAD OF CALLING ME PRIVATELY TO APOLOGIZE FIRST, at least be HONEST about your story. BTW, You ARE the reason my family broke up! (sic)”
In her ‘Red Table Talk’ interview, Jordyn alleges that Tristan was the one who kissed her.
She said: “This is where the story gets tricky. I feel like I can’t point fingers because I allowed myself to be in this position. I allowed myself to be there. On the way out he did kiss me … I wish I would not have gone with those girls to the after party and not allowed myself to be in that position.”
And Jordyn also wishes she would have told Khloe “the truth from the beginning”.
She said: “If I’d have told the truth from the beginning. I was there, I was drunk, this wouldn’t have happened … I have spoken a little bit with her [Khloe]. I let her know I’m willing to do whatever it is for her peace of mind. Not for my image. Not for my career.”
The former friend of Kylie Jenner also insists it wasn’t a publicity stunt and has ended up with “real people” getting hurt.
Speaking to her “aunt” Jada Pinkett Smith on ‘Red Table Talk’, she shared: “Unfortunately, I wish I could say this was a publicity stunt but it’s real and real people are hurting.”

Jordyn Woods says kiss was drunken mistake

OHMYGOSSIP — Jordyn Woods has dubbed her kiss with Tristan Thompson as a drunken mistake.
The 21-year-old model was spotted kissing the basketball player – who was dating Khloe Kardashian at the time – at a party and she has blamed the tryst on making “dumb moves” whilst she was intoxicated.
She said: “I’m not thinking, ‘I shouldn’t be here’. That’s my first step where I went wrong. I should have gone home after the party. I shouldn’t even have been there. Never once was I giving him a lap dance, making out with him, sitting all over him. It’s just – we’re all together. We’re in a group. Never once did we leave the public area to go to a bedroom, a bathroom – we’re all in plain sight. It was a kiss on the lips, but no tongue kiss. No making out. I don’t think he’s wrong either because I allowed myself to be in that position. When alcohol is involved, people make dumb moves.”
Jordyn – who is best friends with Khloe’s sister Kylie Jenner – wishes she would have told Khloe “the truth from the beginning” and now wants to do the best for Khloe.
She said: “If I’d have told the truth from the beginning. I was there, I was drunk, this wouldn’t have happened … I have spoken a little bit with her [Khloe]. I let her know I’m willing to do whatever it is for her peace of mind. Not for my image. Not for my career.”

Justin Bieber is ‘in a really good place’ at the moment

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Bieber is “in a really good place” at the moment.
The ‘As Long As You Love Me’ hitmaker – who has just turned 25 – is reportedly really “centring himself” and “focusing on his future”.
A source told People magazine: “He’s in a really good place. He’s got all the money he will ever need, and he’s starting to really centre himself and focus on his future … Therapy has helped empower him: he’s focusing on the positives, not the negatives. He knows that he’s beginning a new life.”
The 25-year-old singer is said to be undergoing counselling to help him “figure out his next chapter”.
An insider shared: “His emotions are raw, but he knows that his counselling – however painful – is what he needs as he moves forward with his life. He’s feeling very positive that he’s uncovering some root issues, and everyone is optimistic that this will help him figure out his next chapter. He’s going to be a dad someday, and he knows that could happen sooner rather than later. [He wants to be sure] that he’s got his act together.”
Justin had previously opened up about how becoming so famous at such a young age had a negative effect on his mental health.
He shared: “I started really feeling myself too much. ‘People love me, I’m the s**t,’ that’s honestly what I thought. I got very arrogant and cocky. I was wearing sunglasses inside … I found myself doing things that I was so ashamed of, being super-promiscuous and stuff, and I think I used Xanax because I was so ashamed.”

Amanda Seyfried more selective about roles since becoming a mother

OHMYGOSSIP — Amanda Seyfried has “no time for unnecessary nudity” scenes now she is a mother.
The ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’ star feels “really empowered” since she welcomed her daughter Nina into the world and is selective about her roles now.
She told Fox News: “I have no time for unnecessary nudity or sex because as you get older you realise it’s not easy. It can be funky and uncomfortable …
“I feel really empowered just for the fact that I’m able to present those things, and choose what I want, as opposed to what I think somebody else wants just to make them happy. It’s more about, I want to choose to do things when I leave my daughter 16 hours a day, to do something that I desperately want to do with all of my heart, and I’m just kind of more interested in doing animated film.”
Amanda recently admitted her OCD has “gotten quieter” since she became a parent.
She said: “I prepared myself before I had her by going back to CBT [Cognitive Behavioural Therapy], just to get myself in that frame of mind to notice when my OCD might be getting worse. But it turns out you’re way too busy with other things anyway. It definitely didn’t void it, but it’s absolutely gotten quieter. You have less time to worry, or to focus or obsess about things you maybe used to, and it’s so grounding. It’s real. They depend on you completely now.”

Katherine Helmond has died aged 89

OHMYGOSSIP — Katherine Helmond has passed away at the age of 89.
The ‘Who’s the Boss?’ star died at her Los Angeles home on February 23 due to complications from her Alzheimer’s disease.
Katherine was best known for her television work, starting in the early 1970s with small parts in the likes of ‘Gunsmoke’, ‘The Bob Newhart Show’ and ‘The Six Million Dollar Man’ but it was her role as Jessica Tate on US sitcom ‘Soap’ that saw her fame increase.
Speaking about why she decided to go into acting, she said: “I felt I blossomed as a person when I got a chance to act. Through all the many years now, I’ve never fallen out of love. It’s been like an incredible marriage that really worked. I enjoyed every minute of it.”
Katherine will be best known for her part in comedy, ‘Who’s the Boss?’, where she played Mona Robinson for all eight seasons.
Speaking about how her character embraced life after the death of her husband, she said: “If life dealt you some unfortunate blow, you would still be able to go out into the world, find new friends, find new jobs, find a new way of living if you knew who you were.
“I felt like I was giving a free lesson to a lot of people who are in that position … I got wonderful letters from people.”
Alyssa Milano has led tributes to the late actress.
She wrote on Twitter: “Katherine Helmond has passed away. My beautiful, kind, funny, gracious, compassionate, rock. You were an instrumental part of my life. You taught me to hold my head above the marsh! You taught me to do anything for a laugh! What an example you were! Rest In Peace, Katherine.”

Jordyn Woods couldn’t ‘eat or sleep’ after Tristan Thompson scandal

OHMYGOSSIP — Jordyn Woods couldn’t “eat or sleep” after news broke of her tryst with Khloe Kardashian’s partner Tristan Thompson.
The 21-year-old model knows she did wrong but doesn’t think she “deserved” to receive death threats after she and the basketball star – who has daughter True with Khloe – kissed during a party last month.
She said: “The crazy thing is, the arms that I thought would be around me are nowhere to be found. The first few days of this were definitely the hardest. I couldn’t eat, I didn’t eat for days. I couldn’t look at my phone, even. I just tried to sleep and hope that I’d wake up and this wouldn’t be true. Every time you refresh the page it’s another person bullying, or wishing death upon me, or telling me something like, ‘Your father deserved to die.’ I may have done something wrong, but whatever I did, I don’t think I deserved this. It’s just, it’s not fair.
“If I was a weak person, I would have hurt myself. It’s even hard for me to say this … everyone’s safety is now … we can’t leave the house. My brother can’t go to work. My sister can’t go to school. She’s 12 years old. My mother can’t even go to the grocery store.”
And Jordyn has admitted she never told her best friend Kylie Jenner and Khloe the whole truth at first because she was “scared”.
She added: “I didn’t tell the truth to the people that I loved. Not because of malicious intent, but because I was just scared.”
Jordyn feels the “mistake” she made should have been dealt with by the Kardashian Jenner family “internally”.
Speaking to Jada Pinkett Smith on Red Table Talk, she shared: “That didn’t have to be what it was turned into the biggest scandal or betrayal of the year. [It was] not a mistake that’s worth public crucifixion. It’s a mistake that should have been dealt with internally.”

Johnny Depp files a $50m defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard

OHMYGOSSIP — Johnny Depp has filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard.
The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star has submitted court documents against the Hollywood actress in relation to an article she penned for the Washington Post in December 2018.
Court documents obtained by The Blast state: “Ms. Heard purported to write from the perspective of ‘a public figure representing domestic abuse’ and claimed that she ‘felt the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out’ when she ‘spoke up against sexual violence.’ The article depends on the central premise that Ms. Heard was a domestic abuse victim and that Mr. Depp perpetrated domestic violence against her … The op-ed’s clear implication that Mr. Depp is a domestic abuse is categorically and demonstrably false. Mr. Depp never abused Ms. Heard. Her allegations against him were false when they were made in 2016. They were an elaborate hoax to generate positive publicity for Ms. Heard and advance her career.”
Whilst the article doesn’t specifically mention Johnny, she said she has personally “felt the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out” against domestic violence.
She penned: “I write this as a woman who had to change my phone number weekly because I was getting death threats. For months, I rarely left my apartment, and when I did, I was pursued by camera drones and photographers on foot, on motorcycles and in cars. Tabloid outlets that posted pictures of me spun them in a negative light. I felt as though I was on trial in the court of public opinion – and my life and livelihood depended on myriad judgments far beyond my control.”
Amber and Johnny’s divorce was finalised in January 2017.
