Morven Christie: I would be a ‘terrible detective’

OHMYGOSSIP — Morven Christie says she would make a “terrible detective” despite portraying one in new ITV crime drama ‘The Bay.’
The 37-year-old actress – who stars as DS Lisa Armstrong in the upcoming Morecambe-based show – revealed she is not nearly as shrewd in real life as her character is and would have no chance at solving the murder mysteries
Morven told the Daily Star: “My detective skills are absolutely terrible. It did surprise me [when it was revealed] who had done it.”
‘Innocent’ and ‘Homes Fires’ star Daniel Ryan will star as Lisa’s boss, alongside ‘Robin Hood’s Jonas Armstrong, ‘Coronation Street’s Tracie Bennett, ‘EastEnders’ Lindsey Coulson, ‘This is England’s Chanel Cresswell, ‘Last Tango in Halifax’s Taheen Modak and ‘Happy Valley’s Adam Long.
The gripping “whodunnit?” thriller will follow the case of twins Holly and Dylan Meredith, who disappear after a night out. And Lisa, who is a Family Liaison Officer, finds herself in a dilemma when she discovers she has a personal connection with the family.
Morven – who has previously starred in ‘Grantchester’ and ‘The A Word’ – admires the “realness” of her character, and gushed that Lisa is a “brilliant and flawed” detective.
Of her character, she shared: “Lisa is such a refreshingly real character – brilliant and flawed, trying to make everything work, and often failing. I adore her. And I loved Daragh’s scripts, rooted in the families and community of this distinctive town.”
And speaking about the television series’ twist and turns, she added: “They lay out to a load of people and dish them up on a plate and as things go on and threads get pulled – there are lots of suspects.”
‘The Bay’ commences on Wednesday, March 20, on ITV.

Jordan Peele’s favourite horror villain is Michael Myers

OHMYGOSSIP — Jordan Peele’s favourite horror villain is Michael Myers from ‘Halloween’.
The 40-year-old director – who, this month, will release his new psychological fight fest ‘Us’ – is an aficionado of the genre and admits that babysitter obsessed psychopathic killer Myers, who made his debut in John Carpenter’s 1978 classic slasher flick ‘Halloween’, is top of his list when it comes to big screen baddies because he seems curious about the effect his murderous actions have on his victims.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, he said: “I’m gonna say, Michael Myers. He’s not even evil, he’s just curious. You know you can’t talk him out of whatever he wants to do and he’d always do that thing where he’d stab somebody and he’s sort of turn his head like that, which is the international symbol for ‘fascinating’.”
Peele went on to share that the first horror movie that “really got me” was David Cronenberg’s 1986 film ‘The Fly’ – which starred Jeff Goldblum as scientist Seth Brundle who transforms into a hideous fly hybrid due to an experiment that goes wrong – as the story helped him understand “the power of horror”.
The ‘Get Out’ filmmaker said: “The first horror movie that really got me was ‘The Fly’, so scary and so inappropriate for how old I was and yet I was able to watch it and understand it and by the end I felt less scared than I did before watching it so that’s how I knew the power of horror.”
Peele’s Us stars Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke star as Adelaide and Gabe Wilson, a couple who visit their beach house in California with their two children only to be terrorised by some unexpected visitors who seem to be evil doppelgangers
He said of the film: “This movie was a way to say, ‘What if the intruder is us? Maybe the monster has our face, and we’re so obsessed with some unrecognisable monster that we’ve been blinded to the real one.’ ”

Happy Death Day 3 isn’t likely to happen says Jason Blum

OHMYGOSSIP — Jason Blum says ‘Happy Death Day 3’ isn’t likely to happen.
The 50-year-old producer admitted that although it’s “not impossible” that he’ll make another instalment of the horror franchise – starring Jessica Roth as college student Tree who, in the first film, is trapped in a time loop and is murdered on her birthday over and over again – he doesn’t think he has a story to make the series a trilogy.
During a Twitter Q&A, a fan asked: “How likely is it we’ll get a Happy Death Day 3?”
To which Jason replied: “Not very but not impossible.”
The original 2017 ‘Happy Death Day’, which was produced by Jason’s Blumhouse Productions, was a surprise critical success and earned $125 million at the global box office on a $5 million budget, however, the 2019 sequel ‘Happy Death Day 2U’ is predicted to end up grossing about half of what its predecessor did.
Although Jason isn’t keen on extending the franchise, director-and-writer Christopher Landon previously claimed that he always imagined Tree’s story as a trilogy.
He said: I have more than an idea, I always imagined this as a trilogy, so I have the third movie, but it’s just a question of whether this one does well. I would love to make the third one. I think it’s a really bonkers, fun idea.”
Christopher added that there’s a “big clue” at the end of ‘Happy Death Day 2U’ which sets up the third movie.
He said: “There’s a big clue already in [‘Happy Death Day 2U’]. There’s an end credit sequence, so people who stick around, they’ll see that. But, beyond that, mum’s the word right now.”

Bananarama announce new single and album

OHMYGOSSIP — Bananarama have released new single ‘Stuff Like That’.
The disco track – taken from their upcoming studio album ‘In Stereo’ ahead of its April 19 release – is the sound of the band taking on the kind of song they enjoyed dancing to during their schooldays.
The pop duo – made up of Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward – said: “The song was inspired by the sort of track we used to love dancing to at schools!”
For the new tune’s music video, the pair have teamed up with long time collaborator Andy Morahan, who has worked with them in the past on the likes of ‘I Heard A Rumour’, ‘I Can’t Help It’, ‘Love In The First Degree’, ‘I Want You Back’ and ‘Nathan Jones’.
It seems like it was a no-brainer for the stars – who reunited with original founding member Siobhan Fahey in 2017 for a one-off tour together – to get him on board again as they prepare for the release of their first full length album in a decade.
They added: “It was fate bumping into Andy on the very day we were having a meeting to discuss who we would make the video with.
“Having worked with him so many times before he feels like part of the family and we had such a great time filming. It was the most chilled fun video we’ve ever made.”
Next month, Bananarama will hit the road for a unique, for one time only run of shows at small, intimate venues.
The special performances will incorporate Q&As with the audience, while the band will perform the hits as well as material from the new album.
Live Dates:
Friday 26th April – Omeara, London – SOLD OUT
Saturday 27th April – Borderline, London – SOLD OUT
Sunday 28th April – Glee Club, Birmingham

Arctic Monkeys won’t wait five years for next album

OHMYGOSSIP — Arctic Monkeys don’t want to wait five years until they release their next album.
The ‘I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor’ hitmakers released their sixth studio LP ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’ last year – their first new release since 2013 collection ‘AM’ – and the band won’t be making a habit of such long breaks between records.
Drummer Matt Helders told Music Feeds: “I think that break was based on various circumstances and that was sort of what we needed at the time.
“But it’s not a pattern we’re going to get used to as a band. We like being in the studio. We’re keen on making albums.”
Although the group – which also includes Alex Turner, Jamie Cook and Nick O’Malley – don’t have a “real concrete plan” about what they will do next, Matt said he and his bandmates are looking forward to whatever comes next.
He added: “We’ll talk about what we’ll do next. There’s no real concrete plan at the moment. We’re all enjoying it a lot.
“We know we want to do some writing at some point but there’s nothing really. We haven’t really talked about it yet.
“I suppose when we’re back together on these last couple of tours we’ll start thinking about that. But yeah, there’s nothing actually planned yet.”
Meanwhile, the drummer addressed fans who weren’t pleased with the change of direction from album to album, and pointed out that the no one is taking the old releases away from people.
He said: “It always seems like quite a natural progression to us from album to album. Obviously, we still love ‘AM’ and play most of those songs live. “It’s still there for them to listen to, you know what I mean? It’s not going away but I think for us it was quite a natural thing to move on and do something else.”

Love Island’s Montana Brown wants ‘more body diversity’ on show

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Love Island’s Montana Brown has called for “more body diversity” on the show.
The 23-year-old stunner – who rose to fame after taking part in the ITV2 dating show – wants there to be a wider range of shapes and sizes on display in upcoming seasons.
Montana participated in a discussion on whether Barbie Dolls are an “unrealistic portrayal of women” on ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Thursday (08.03.19) and host Susanna Reid said: “A lot of people thought that about ‘Love Island’. Actually young girls watching ‘Love Island’ realistically only saw one type of body looking fabulous in a bikini.”
Montana replied: “I would completely agree with that. We should definitely be seeing more of a body diversity on Love Island.”
But it seems unlikely that the network will be introducing fuller women to the show as last year, ITV2 controller Paul Mortimer defended the show and said it was a “sexy” show, which needed toned contestants to fit the part.
He said: “We’re a sexy channel. We cast sexy people. I think on the body image thing, we cast very attractive people. It’s a sexy show, it is entertainment on ITV2 and in the same way Hollywood casts a certain type to get bums on seats in theatres or other shows, the ‘Strictly’ dancers or whatever.”
He also argued that in a way ‘Love Island’ encourages people to work hard at the gym and lead a healthy life so they can look as good as the people they see on the show.
He said: “We cast sexy people, we’re a sexy channel and those people by the way, they work quite hard, there’s a gym, we show people working out. There’s also another conversation going on about childhood obesity. If you want to look like the guys on ‘Love Island’ you have to work out.”

Gemma Collins will perform on Dancing On Ice this weekend

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins will be performing at the Dancing On Ice 2019 live final this weekend despite initially pulling out over her feud with Jason Gardiner.
The ‘Only Way is Essex’ star has revealed that she will be returning to the ice rink with partner Matt Evers for Sunday night’s final extravaganza, and will skate like “it’s the last day of her life” after she previously opted out of performing.
Speaking on the Jonathan Ross Show, she admitted: “I did pull out and then I thought, to everyone that has supported me, for my own self-esteem, I am not going to back down to anybody. I am going to walk back in on that show on Sunday night and I’m going to skate like it’s the last day of my life.”
Gemma had previously called for Jason to stop making “hurtful” comments about her and admitted she no longer wanted to be in the same room as him.
She fumed on Instagram: “I’m really tired of being BULLIED by this man …. I wish you would stop ….. it’s very very upsetting and hurtful let it go Jason stop bullying me ENOUGH is ENOUGH I won’t be bullied any more making me feel uncomfortable to come back to the final on Sunday ! I was looking forward to Sunday but won’t be anywhere near someone who’s BULLYING me …. this is NOT ACCEPTABLE on any level comparing any human to an electrical appliance is not acceptable #STANDUPTOBULLIES (sic)”
The choreographer – who had previously rowed with Gemma on ‘Dancing On Ice’ – came under fire for his comments when he insisted he didn’t “hold a grudge” on ‘This Morning’
When it was mentioned Gemma would be making an appearance on the ITV skating show’s final on Sunday, he replied: “Who?”
He then said: “Oh, I thought that was a refrigerator. I don’t hold a grudge, I don’t really know the woman. And in one final there are enough things to be worried about.”
Pro skater Matt also hit out at the “bullying” the 38-year-old star has been subjected to.
He tweeted: “There is no room for bullying in my world. None.”
Gemma thanked him for his support, replying: “Thank you Matt such a shame I was looking forward to Sunday x I tried my best week after week.”

Maggie Gyllenhaal says The Kindergarten Teacher is ‘hard to sit with’

OHMYGOSSIP — Maggie Gyllenhaal is proud that her new film ‘The Kindergarten Teacher’ surprises viewers.
The 41-year-old actress “loved the feeling” of her upcoming drama – a remake of a 2014 Israeli film which follows a pre-school instructor who forms an intense relationship with an unusually poetic five-year-old – surprising audiences when it was shown at Sundance Festival.
In an interview with The Guardian newspaper, she said: “I loved the feeling when it showed at Sundance, where people went in expecting one thing and the rug was pulled out from under them. The film is truthful and hard to sit with, but that’s the intention.”
The ‘Secretary’ star went on to explain that she is happier with her recent work than anything she’s done before and although she’s had to go through some “painful learning” the actress said she’s been “trusting her instinct” about what roles to accept these days.
She said: “I’ve been trusting my instinct about what jobs to take and it’s been really serving me well. But I’ve had to go through some painful learning.
“That’s the way life works – you have to go through hard, dark times to keep learning and ultimately keep moving forward.”
Maggie has previously admitted she struggles to put director Sara Colangelo’s ‘The Kindergarten Teacher’ into a specific genre because it is such a unique story.
She previously said: “It was like nothing I’d read before, and it felt impossible to categorise it, which I still feel is very true in the final product. I mean, is it a horror movie? Is it a thriller? Is it kind of like a French movie, you know? What is it? I think it is new and that is one of the things that compelled me about it.”

Annie Lennox launches new Global International Women’s Day initiative

OHMYGOSSIP — Annie Lennox has joined forces with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa Mary J Blige for a Global International Women’s Day initiative.
The Eurythmics singer’s own non-governmental organisation The Circle has partnered with Apple Music for a short film in support of “global feminism”, which is inclusive of all approaches to women’s equality.
Annie said: “Disempowerment creates an appalling way of life for millions of women and girls around the world. While physical or sexual violence affects one in three women, and two thirds of the world’s 757 million adults who cannot read or write are women … these are only two on a long list of disparity and injustice. We cannot ignore the fact that feminism must have a global reach.
“At a time when there seems to be so much polarity and division in the world, the term ‘global feminism’ offers an opportunity for people from every walk of life, colour of skin, gender or sexual orientation to understand and identify with the bigger global picture.
“We need to stand shoulder to shoulder in support of human rights, justice and equality for women and girls everywhere in the world, especially in countries where they are not even near the lowest rung of the ladder.”
The likes of Emeli Sande, Richard E. Grande, Farhan Akhtar, Richa Chadha, Eddie Izzard, Beverley Knight and Gwendoline Christie have also lent their support as they shared their favourite songs inspired by visionary women.
Appearing on ITV’s This Morning on Thursday (07.03.19), Annie opened up about giving a talk for International Women’s Day (08.03.19) and joining the Duchess of Sussex as part of The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.
She said: “It’s interesting to think that Meghan [Markle] is expecting a baby, and at this point in time the maternal mortality rate of deaths in the developing countries is 99.9% so I think that when, I wish she has a healthy wonderful child, and she will know by the time she becomes a mother – and she already has that connection, she’s an incredibly intelligent women – [but] when she becomes a mother, she’ll relate to all those women around the world.
“I’m not saying she doesn’t already, but that point of motherhood was the motivating starter for me to understand that as a mother, I’m connected to other women around the world because of my motherhood.”

Lizzo slams designers who aren’t size inclusive

OHMYGOSSIP — Lizzo has slammed designers who refuse to dress plus-size women.
The ‘Juice’ hitmaker has insisted that she is not interested in wearing a designer’s garments if they aren’t size inclusive and has praised the body-positive movement because it has “changed the game” for women around the world.
She said: “If you’re not making clothes for me, and if you don’t want to make clothes for me, I don’t want to wear your [designs]. I look good in other [things] anyway. But call me if you want to dress me. If you want to change the game and dress a fat body, call me.
“The body-positive movement is the body-positive movement, and we high five. We’re parallel. But my movement is my movement. When all the dust has settled on the groundbreaking-ness, I’m going to still be doing this. I’m not going to suddenly change. I’m going to still be telling my life story through music.
“And if that’s body positive to you, amen. That’s feminist to you, amen. If that’s pro-black to you, amen. Because ma’am, I’m all of those things.”
The 30-year-old rapper also explained that she will only wear “black hair” now because it makes a “bigger mark” in representing black women.
Speaking to Allure magazine, she added: “I wear black hair. I don’t wear any other kind of hair anymore. I think it’s really important as a black woman to do that because black women representing black things makes a bigger mark. We’re going to represent for us, by us. My brother, my sister, my mother and father – they all had completely different hair textures, and they [were] all softer than mine. My mom had really long hair that she always pressed out. My dad had a long ponytail, wavy hair.”

Anya Taylor-Joy likes ‘extra’ red carpet style

OHMYGOSSIP — Anya Taylor-Joy likes to have “fun” and be “extra” with her style on the red carpet.
The 22-year-old actress always makes sure that her awards season looks are “dramatic” and channels that both through her outfit and her hair and make up.
She said: “What I love most about red-carpet style is that I love magic and fairytales and drama and being extra. If you’re not going to have fun on the carpet, when are you? It’s such a good opportunity to be a bit dramatic. I’m an actress, I like dramatic things!
“It usually starts with a dress and then I’ll go from there. The red-carpet experience itself is a sensory overload. At the beginning I was terrified because I didn’t realise yet that it’s also a performance. It’s keeping your eyes open, trying not to look directly into the flash – or you’ll be momentarily blinded – and knowing that these events are a lot more fun if you’re going with your friends. And you only make friends in these situations if you spend time working.”
The ‘Peaky Blinders’ star has only recently started her own three-step skincare ritual and making her own face masks because she “grew up” such a “tomboy”.
She added to British Vogue magazine: “I grew up such a tomboy that I only recently learned about cleanse, tone, moisturise. It makes a difference when you’re living on a plane! I use the Chanel Mousse Confort Rich Foaming Cream Cleanser right now, which is really nice for winter. Then I love True Botanicals, which has a really nice nutrient mist.
“They’re really eco-friendly too. There’s a Prickly Pear Seed Oil by Mūn which smells so good, too. If I’m going to treat myself I make my own face mask of Bio-Oil mixed with Egyptian Magic. When you wake up the next morning you look like you’ve had 14 hours of sleep.”

To mark Barbie’s 60th anniversary on International Women’s Day, an annual event to celebrate and advocate for women’s rights, the dolls have been created in a bid to close the “Dream Gap”, which refers to the fact women are less self-assured than men in achieving their dreams or reaching their full potential.
In a statement, Aboah said: “I want to help close the Dream Gap, so that girls don’t have to question if they are smart or brave, and have no limits placed on their capabilities by society. I believe by working together we can encourage girls to find their authentic voices and that we can have an impact on the world for the next generation of girls. Through my work with Gurls Talk and partnership with Barbie, I hope we can inspire girls to try to change the world around them, through acts big or small.”
Aboah’s doll comes with two looks, the first outfit is a sentimental choice because it is a replica of the stunning ensemble she wore to accept her Model of the Year gong at the Fashion Awards in 2017, and includes a Halpern dress, Stephen Jones turban and Christian Louboutin platform sandals.
The second outfit comprises of a Gurls Talk t-shirt – an organisation which the model is the founder of – and leopard print skirt and Aboah insisted that the creation of the doll is incredibly “meaningful” to her.
She added: “I love that Barbie offers so much choice now, but to see my own doll that has my freckled skin, skin colour, shaved head and my tattoos is so meaningful to me.”

Sam Allardyce was ‘out of comfort zone’ on Celebrity Apprentice

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Allardyce was “way out of his comfort zone” on ‘Celebrity Apprentice’.
The 64-year-old former England manager admitted he was out of his depth when he featured on the BBC show – which was to raise money for Comic Relief – and struggled to handle his task, which required the groups to organise a cabaret event in a short space of time.
He said: “It was very tough indeed, way out of my comfort zone. Putting on a cabaret event is not my strongest asset. Food, tickets, alcohol, donations, advertising – we had to try to get everything for nothing.
“I got stuck into it as best I could but booking artists in 48 hours is not my forte. Yet we managed to get there in the end thanks to people’s contacts.”
The sports star also said he and his team – which included Omid Djalili, Russell Kane, Richard Arnold and Rylan Clark-Neal – “all got on OK” and did not really have time to argue on the challenge.
He added: “I didn’t know them personally but of course I knew of them. I’ve watched Omid Djalili many times on the telly, and also Russell Kane and Rylan Clark-Neal on ‘This Morning’. We all got on OK. We had our own opinions but we didn’t really have enough time to argue. We just go on with it.”
The rival female team consisted of Ayda Field, Amanda Holden, Kelly Hoppen, Tameka Empson and Rachel Johnson this year.
And even though he found the challenges difficult, Sam loved appearing on the special as he is a huge fan of Comic Relief.
He shared to the Metro newspaper: “We never miss the show. We’ve been watching it for years and always feel amazed by the generosity of this country. Even when our country’s in such a depressed state, people will still put their hands in their pockets and donate to those less fortunate than themselves.”
‘Celebrity Apprentice for Comic Relief’ airs on Thursday (07.03.19) on BBC One.

OHMYGOSSIP — Georgia Toffolo has “given up” booze for Lent.
The ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ winner “enjoyed” going sober throughout the month of January so much, that she is going extend her alcohol-free lifestyle until the end of Lent.
Writing on Twitter, she said: “I’m giving up [alcohol] for Lent! I did dry January and enjoyed it. Excited to see how I get on! Is anyone else giving something up?”
The 24-year-old reality TV star previously admitted that her tipple of choice is “absolutely everything” but she especially “loves” drinking the summertime liqueur Pimms.

The blonde beauty – who featured in E4’s reality series ‘Made In Chelsea’ – enjoys living a healthy lifestyle and explained that having a personal trainer has been “really good” for changing the “shape” of her body.
She added: “I have a trainer when I’m in London; he’s good because he does the workouts with me. I also go to this class in Fulham; it’s ballet and points and stuff; it’s really dynamic and really good for the shape of your body.
“All the other girls on the show [Made In Chelsea] are really fit and the boys go to the gym every day so I’m like, ‘oh God I need to keep up!'”
Georgia also confessed that her guilty food pleasure is anything with truffle because she is “obsessed” with how good it tastes.

Jodie Marsh gets eyebrows tattooed on

OHMYGOSSIP — Jodie Marsh has had her eyebrows tattooed on.
The 40-year-old ex-glamour model has made the decision to get her brows permanently drawn on using a method which uses a traditional tattoo gun with a rotary and coil to create a shape that lasts from between one to three years and she is very pleased with the “amazing” look.
Sharing a video on Twitter of herself undergoing the procedure, she wrote: “I had my eyebrows tattooed yesterday at @PurePigmentatio – they look AMAZING!!!! I had a different technique; instead of the tiny brush strokes I had a powder ombré and I’m soooooo happy with them (sic)”
Jodie also shared footage of the treatment on her Instagram account and revealed the procedure was so easy and painless that she fell asleep whilst it was being done.
She captioned the video: “It didn’t hurt at all, in fact I fell asleep while she was doing it. So happy with it! Thanks so much Hanna. Such a lovely day!”
The former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ star has always been completely open about her beauty secrets and any cosmetic surgery she has had, which includes a rhinoplasty and a boob job.
Jodie has previously admitted that she has considered having her breast size reduced so she could achieve a more “ladylike” image.
She said: “The only thing I would quite like done is [having] my boobs reduced. I’ve seen a couple of surgeons about it, but because of the size of them and what they’d need to do to make them look good still, they’re saying it’s quite a complicated procedure.
“I think it’s an age thing. The older you get, the more you just want to look elegant and ladylike.
“I love my boobs, don’t get me wrong. That’s why it’s not an urgent thing … I think they’re brilliant and lots of fun, big and bouncy and juicy, but I don’t want to be boobs hanging out every time.
“It’s nice to have that option to show a cleavage and feel sexy, but for me, it’s more about looking classy and not having boob everywhere.”
