Idris Elba loves quiet nights alone

OHMYGOSSIP — Idris Elba loves a quiet night in on his own.
The 46-year-old actor – who is engaged to Sabrina Dhowre and has children Isan 17, and four-year-old Winston from previous relationships – insists he isn’t a “grump” but he cherishes the time he gets at home without having to make conversation with anyone.
He said: “It’s rarer now but I do like it if I’ve got the house to myself.
“I don’t have to say anything, don’t have to talk to anybody.
“Not that I’m a grump or anything, it’s just nice sometimes, y’know.”
However, the ‘Luther’ actor feels a “responsibility” to “put on a show” when he’s out in public.
He told Red magazine: “At the core of who I am, I’d rather sit in the corner.
“[But] I think that when you’re in the public eye, you’ve sort of got this responsibility to always put on a show.
“So, if you put me on Graham Norton’s show, I’ll tell a funny story and be that guy but it’s not really who I am.
“I wouldn’t say I was shy growing up, but I was quieter. Children who don’t have siblings can spend a lot of time by themselves and I was alright doing that.”
Idris’ dad, Winston, died of cancer five years ago and the actor admitted that sparked his “drive and ambition”.
He said: “I was there. The greatest man in the world and I watched him die.
“I know he had all these dreams – some of them came alive but most of them didn’t and then just like that, he’s lying in a hospital bed, gone.
“That gave me such a profound perspective. We’re all sitting there moaning about A, B, and C, but the day your heart stops, that’s it.
“It changed my energy – my drive and ambition went through the roof. It makes you think, like, ‘F**k, I need to just go out there and do it.’ ”

Mel B gives ‘explosive’ interview about Stephen Belafonte divorce

OHMYGOSSIP — Mel B has reportedly given an “explosive” TV interview to Piers Morgan about her acrimonious split from Stephen Belafonte.
The 43-year-old pop star – who was married to Stephen for a decade prior to their divorce in 2017 – has given a tell-all interview to ITV’s ‘Piers Morgan’s Life Stories’, in which she discusses a wide range of topics, including her marriage and her relationship with fellow members of the Spice Girls.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Mel’s interview with Piers is set to be explosive, emotional and exciting. She’s a live-wire and there’s no telling what she’ll say, it’s going to be a no holds barred chat and she’ll give as good as she gets with him.
“Mel feels comfortable with Piers so is happy to open up to him, but he isn’t afraid to ask her about things she’s previously shied away from – producers know it will be revelatory.”
Meanwhile, Mel – who has Madison, seven, with Stephen, as well as Angel, 11, and Phoenix, 20, from earlier relationships – previously insisted she’s never said a “bad word” to her three daughters about their fathers.
Mel explained: “I’ve never said a bad word about any of their fathers to my daughters. Angel sees her dad [Eddie Murphy] on a regular basis.
“One thing I do with all three of my girls is make sure they know that they’re loved, and that they came from a place of a loving relationship.
“I always make it a very exciting thing when I send them off to their fathers. Angel is different, because me and her dad don’t have any problems with each other.”

Jordyn Woods returns to Instagram following cheating scandal

OHMYGOSSIP — Jordyn Woods has returned to Instagram following her cheating scandal with Tristan Thompson.
The 21-year-old model has recently been on a break from the photo-sharing platform after kissing Tristan at a party last month, which led to his split from Khloe Kardashian, the mother of his ten-month-old daughter True.
Alongside a photo of her new haircut, Jordyn wrote: “If you’re reading this.. it means God has given you another day to wake up and be grateful & better than you were yesterday (sic)”
On Friday (08.03.19), Jordyn also liked a photo of Kylie Jenner – who is Khloe’s half-sister and Jordyn’s long-time friend – on Instagram.
Despite their recent split, an insider has claimed that Khloe and Tristan – who plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA – remain “on the same page” when it comes to co-parenting their daughter.
The high-profile duo “have their issues” – but they are determined to do everything possible to give their daughter the best upbringing possible.
A source said: “Khloe has True for the majority of the time. Khloe’s able to bring True or be with her at work, where Tristan can’t.
“Also, True spends a lot of time with her big family and all the cousins are in LA so it makes the most sense for her to stay with Khloe.
“Khloe and Tristan may have their issues but Khloe will never deny Tristan a chance to spend time with his daughter. Things may change in the future, but for now Khloe and Tristan are on the same page with True being with Khloe for most of the time.”

Olivia Colman is the new Judi Dench

OHMYGOSSIP — Olivia Colman has been praised as the “Judi Dench of this generation” by Charles Dance.
The 45-year-old actress recently scooped the Best Actress Oscar for her role in ‘The Favourite’ and her co-star in ‘The Crown’ – who has known the former ‘Peep Show’ star for nearly 20 years – couldn’t be happier for her.
He said: “This couldn’t have happened to a nicer person.
“[When we first met] I looked at her and thought, ‘This girl is going to go far.’ It’s her talent, which is unmistakable but she also has the rare gift of inspiring affection.
“I’ve known Judi Dench for years and it’s the same thing with her. Olivia is the Judi Dench of this generation.”
While the former ‘Game of Thrones’ star predicted a huge wave of opportunities will now come Olivia’s way, he doesn’t imagine it will change her at all.
He told Britain’s Grazia magazine: “The word is her oyster. She can command every decent part that’s going. And an enormous amount of money!
“She’ll feel very, very lucky and she’ll giggle a lot. But Olivia is no fool. I’d be astonished if this changes her in any way.”
The actress also won praise from Dalton Wong, the personal trainer she worked with in a bid to lose the weight she’d gained to play Queen Anne in ‘The Favourite’.
He said: “She’s amazing and a lovely person.
“It was about going back to her body as it was normally. She’d come in two or three times a week and the hour would go by very quickly because she’s so lovely to be around.
“How you saw her in that Oscars speech is exactly how she is.”

Brie Larson feared playing a flawless superhero

OHMYGOSSIP — Brie Larson worried about playing a flawless superhero.
The 29-year-old actress – who stars as the titular character in ‘Captain Marvel’ – has admitted to loving her on-screen character’s relatability.
She explained: “There’s a lot to love about her, which is why I was really excited to do this. It was the idea of playing a superhero, or a female superhero, in particular, ’cause my interest is in female complexity.
“I was a little worried about playing a superhero that would be perfect because I don’t feel like that’s realistic, or something aspirational, at all.”
Brie felt it was important to play a superhero character that the movie-watching public could identify with.
She told Collider: “Even with my job, you see this beautiful finished product, where I look great, but you don’t know all of the other takes that are on the cutting room floor, when I physically landed on my face doing stunts, or I just did a bad take. That’s just how it goes.
“So, getting to play a character where the whole character arc and turn of this is watching her be this major risk-taker, which means it’s not always going to work out for the best.
“And those are the moments, the defining moments of her character, where she doesn’t lay down, she gets back up. That’s everything. That’s for everybody. There isn’t a person who can’t relate to that, I don’t think.”

Kerry Katona annoyed with Atomic Kitten

OHMYGOSSIP — Kerry Katona is “p**ed off” with her former band Atomic Kitten.
The 38-year-old star shot to fame in 1999 as an original member of the group but left when she and then-husband Brian McFadden had their first child, Molly, now 17, only to rejoin in 2013.
However, she was dropped by bandmates Natasha Hamilton and Liz McLarnon in November 2017 following a public row so she was livid to learn recently her likeness has been used on a poster for an upcoming gig.
She wrote in her column for new! magazine: “I was p***ed off that yet again Atomic Kitten used my image to advertise an upcoming gig.
“I have nothing against the girls but come on – if I’m not good enough to be on the road with you, for God’s sake stop using my picture.”
The split came following a personal appearance by Kerry in Manchester in 2017, when one person referred to Natasha and suggested she “lose the ginger”, Kerry answered: “I’m not being funny, Atomic Kitten – I always saw her as toxic ****!”
Just hours later, she wrote on Instagram: “Gutted that I am no longer apart of Atomic Kitten!! Wish the girls all the love and happiness in the world!! Was very proud to be the founder member of AK! Had some amazing times with the kittens! And gutted not to be apart of that no more! I guess I’ll keep to knock knock jokes from now on (sic).”
However, Natasha has since denied the claims she wanted Kerry out, tweeting: “I haven’t spoken to @KerryKatona7 over calling me C**t. I wasn’t there so I let it go. So don’t know where all these stories r coming … So don’t know where all these stories about us falling about it have come from.
“Liz and I have had Kerry’s back since the day she came back to the band and have been there for her through thick and thin. We always will
“As for kicking her out the band?Complete rubbish. Both Liz and I can’t do any more gigs until mid next year because we are in theatre shows (sic).”

Foals’ new album proves they’re not ‘one-dimensional’

OHMYGOSSIP — Foals’ new album proves they’re not “a one-dimensional band”, according to Yannis Philippakis.
The rock group’s lead vocalist feels that ‘Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 1’ underlines the band’s evolution over the years, and he’s thrilled that their fans have followed them on their journey.
He explained: “We’re not a one-dimensional band.
“There’s a cockiness in feeling like we can put our hand to a variety of ways of expressing what we want, while still in some way being identifiably Foals. There’s a freedom in that.
“The fan base is one that’s grown with us. They expect these jumps and expect something new.”
Yannis, 32, also confessed that the band – who released their debut studio album, ‘Antidotes’, in 2008 – have become more appreciative of their success as time as passed.
He told NME magazine: “What we have is precious: to be in a guitar band that’s still relevant and at its creative peak.
“We’re much more aware of that now than when we were young. We have an understanding that what we have is special and worth fighting for – particularly in the current musical landscape.”
Yannis added that he sees his career as “an act of resistance”.
He reflected: “Actually playing guitars and working in the way that we do is kind of an act of resistance.”

Khloe Kardashian: Hearts should be treasured not broken

OHMYGOSSIP — Khloe Kardashian claims hearts should be “treasured, not broken” in the wake of her split from Tristan Thompson.
The 34-year-old reality star broke up with Tristan – with whom she has 10-month-old daughter True – after he kissed Jordyn Woods at a party last month, and has now taken to social media to share cryptic messages which touch on the subject of heart break.
One passage posted to Instagram reads: “Maybe we held on a little too long to the people who didn’t deserve us because we had more good in our heart than they did. Maybe we saw them for how they could have been if they had a heart like ours. But they didn’t and maybe they never will. Hearts like ours are special. – They should be treasured, not broken.”
Whilst another message shared by the ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ star said everything she’s been through was “meant” to happen in order to make her who she is.
It read: “What if I told you that every single thing that has happened to you has happened exactly as it was meant to? I know a lot of things have happened. I know there are cracks in your spirit from losses too great to name, and hurts from people who should have kept you safe.
“But those cracks created a warrior. Those cracks are iridescent fissures that light you up and reflect every beautiful thing in your soul.”
Meanwhile, although the former couple are not on the best terms right now, it was recently reported they’re “on the same page” when it comes to co-parenting their daughter.
A source said: “Khloe has True for the majority of the time. Khloe’s able to bring True or be with her at work, where Tristan can’t. Also, True spends a lot of time with her big family and all the cousins are in LA so it makes the most sense for her to stay with Khloe.
“Khloe and Tristan may have their issues but Khloe will never deny Tristan a chance to spend time with his daughter. Things may change in the future, but for now Khloe and Tristan are on the same page with True being with Khloe for most of the time.”

Jussie Smollett indicted on 16 counts of filing a false police report

OHMYGOSSIP — Jussie Smollett has been indicted on 16 counts of filing a false police report, stemming from his alleged staging of a hate attack.
The ‘Empire’ actor is facing the charges after it was alleged he filed a false police report when he claimed to be the victim of a homophobic and racist hate attack on January 29.
According to Variety, a Cook County grand jury handed Jussie the indictment on Friday (08.03.19), after the actor was previously charged with a single count for the alleged false filing, which carries the possibility of up to three years in prison.
Of the 16 new counts, eight charges involve false statements given to Officer Muhammed Baig, while the other eight are for a more detailed account given to Detective Kim Murray.
Jussie had told police he was assaulted at 2am by two men who shouted homophobic and racist slurs at him and put a noose around his neck. In the more detailed account, he claimed that he fought back, and that one of the attackers was white.
The indictment read: “Jussie Smollett knew that at the time of this transmission there was no reasonable ground for believing that such an offense had been committed.”
And although he faces several charges, former Cook County prosecutor Andrew Weisberg says the number of counts won’t have an effect on Jussie’s sentence, should he be convicted.
Andrew told Variety magazine that the counts will run concurrently, so the sentencing range would still be one to three years in prison.
He added: “I would still expect a period of probation, a psychological evaluation and restitution to cover costs of the investigation. I would still be surprised if he goes to prison.”
Jussie has denied the allegations against him, and his attorneys Todd Pugh and Victor Henderson recently said a “thorough investigation” into the claims is still ongoing.
They said: “Like any other citizen, Mr. Smollett enjoys the presumption of innocence, particularly when there has been an investigation like this one where information, both true and false, has been repeatedly leaked.
“Given these circumstances, we intend to conduct a thorough investigation and to mount an aggressive defense.”

Liam Payne admits he’s ‘fortunate’ to have escaped stabbing

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Payne was robbed at knifepoint at the age of 12.
The 25-year-old singer has admitted he feels lucky to be alive after he and a friend were lured to a remote spot by a man wielding a “massive hunting knife”.
Calling on the UK government to tackle knife crime, Liam recalled: “It was one of the scariest things I have ever been through in my life.
“I was lucky, but so many aren’t … Something needs to be done. We’ve reached unprecedented levels of people losing their lives.”
Liam confessed his life flashed before his eyes in the midst of the frightening incident, which took place close to his hometown of Wolverhampton in England.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “This 6ft 2 guy says ‘I will tell you the truth, lads, you’ve been brought here today to get jacked’. My life flashed before my eyes.
“He pulled out a massive hunting knife and I felt my heart in my throat. It was really scary.
“He was pointing the knife in our faces, then sharpening the blade with a stick and making up raps.
“We ended up giving him what we had in our wallets. Eventually we just legged it and jumped on the nearest bus even though we didn’t know where it was going.”
Liam and his friend both appreciate they had a lucky escape – and that some people aren’t as fortunate.
He shared: “I often talk to my friend who was with me at the time, saying ‘we are so lucky to be here’.
“There are a lot of people who aren’t that lucky.”

Cheryl reveals her TV doubts

OHMYGOSSIP — Cheryl doubts she could handle the scrutiny of starring on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 35-year-old singer first found fame as part of Girls Aloud, after appearing on ‘Popstars: The Rivals’, and has subsequently served as a mentor on ‘The X Factor’ and ‘The Greatest Dancer’ – but Cheryl doesn’t think she’d cope well under the spotlight of appearing on the BBC dancing show.
The brunette beauty – who has a 23-month-old son called Bear with ex-boyfriend Liam Payne – told the Daily Star newspaper: “As I’ve grown up I’ve realised you should never say never. I just wouldn’t put myself through that, the every week judgement thing.”
Meanwhile, Cheryl revealed in January that she and Liam actually spent Christmas together.
The ‘Crazy Stupid Love’ hitmaker also explained that in spite of their split, they still have a “great” relationship.
She said: “There’s no animosity whatsoever. In fact, Liam spent Christmas Day with us. He cooked the turkey and everything at our home. His family came on the 23rd, and then he was in the house before I woke up on Christmas Day.
“It was lovely and things with us are great, which is lucky, really, because I have to listen to his songs 55,000 times a day. Bear’s got an obsession with the beginning of ‘Familiar’. We have to rewind it and play it all over again.”
Cheryl also insisted she’s not currently looking for love, although she’s keen to find a new boyfriend “at some stage”.
The singer – who was previously married to soccer star Ashley Cole – confessed: “Not right now necessarily but at some stage. It doesn’t matter what they do, so long as he was a good guy and treated me right. I honestly wouldn’t care.”

James McVey had engagement plan

OHMYGOSSIP — James McVey always planned to get engaged this year.
The Vamps singer popped the question to his girlfriend Kirstie Brittain during a weekend away in January but the proposal can’t have come as too much of a shock to the 23-year-old student because they have always been “open” about their future together.
He told new! magazine: “We’re very lucky that we’ve always been open about how we feel and the plans we wanted to make.
“We knew we were going to get engaged this year.
“We’ve lived together for three years and while our engagement weekend was lovely, we’ve actually gone back to how we always are.”
The couple are not rushing to tie the knot and expect to get married in late 2020 once Kirstie has finished her master’s degree in environment, politics and society and they have time to plan properly.
James said:” We think it’ll be towards the end of next year.
“Kirstie finishes uni this September and we’ve got a year of planning from there.
“[The wedding will be] definitely in the UK – somewhere in Dorset or Hampshire. There are so many venues, so we’re trying to tick them off the list.”
The 24-year-old singer admitted things being organised is the key to their big day running smoothly so he’ll be doing as much as possible in advance in order to accommodate his commitments to his band.
Asked how he’ll juggle the band with wedding planning, he said: “Planning well in advance is going to be key. Luckily, our manager Joe is getting married next weekend so we’re going to take little notes from his wedding.”
James and Kirstie want children in the future but not for some time.
He said: “I think in five years we will [have children]. Kirstie and I are quite methodical with our plans.”

Alice Cooper: I’m not nostalgic at all

OHMYGOSSIP — Alice Cooper isn’t “nostalgic at all”.
The 71-year-old singer has enjoyed a long and successful career in the music industry, but Alice has insisted his focus remains on the future, rather than reflecting on his past achievements.
He shared: “I am not nostalgic at all. I never look back.
I will sit there and go, ‘Yeah, that happened, and that happened and that was really good and that was really great and that was really fun,’ and then I go, ‘But wait ’til you see the next one.’
“I think that any artist should always think that their next album and their next song and their next show is gonna be the best one they ever did.
“If that’s not your attitude, I don’t know why you’re out there.”
Alice has also insisted he still has plenty of good years ahead of him.
The veteran star told Billboard: “I’m a healthy young man at 71.”
By contrast, Alice previously moaned that young bands are too “safe”.
The iconic star wishes current artists were more adventurous with their look, sound, and lyrics.
He said: “My pet peeve is that young bands are so introverted.
“They want to look like everyone in the mall. They don’t want to scare anyone. They sing about things that are safe.
“Where’s the swagger? Where’s the sex? Rock stars are meant to get out there and shake their butt. You should think: man, this is fun.
“I will never be this age again. I look good, I sound good, the girls are crazy about me. I tell young bands: don’t tell me about politics or pollution.
“Tell me about your girlfriend. Rock’n’roll is an attitude. It is as close to a biker band as anything. For our generation, that’s what it was all about.”

Louis Tomlinson considers quitting The X Factor

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Tomlinson is considering quitting ‘The X Factor’.
The 27-year-old pop star joined the ITV show’s judging panel in 2018, but Louis has admitted he doesn’t know whether he’ll return to the programme later this year, admitting releasing a solo album is his number-one priority.
He said: “Since the show I haven’t even spoken to Simon [Cowell].
“We’ve just kind of giving each other some space because we’ve seen every single day.
“To be honest I don’t really know what the tail end of my year looks like anyway but personally I think it’s about the public, you know what I mean? I think it should be about the public but anyway…”
Asked whether he’ll return to ‘The X Factor’, Louis told ‘The Dan Wootton Interview’ podcast: “I don’t know, honestly.
“My priority this year is to get the album out at the end of this year. So it might clash, it might clash.”
Meanwhile, Louis recently confessed he didn’t feel like he “had a solid place” in One Direction.
The singer – who starred in the chart-topping boyband alongside Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik – revealed he always felt as though he was “treading water”.
He explained: “I always pushed for the band to write as much as we could. Probably two years in, I felt like I was treading water a bit.
“I didn’t really feel like I had a solid place – what was I contributing? There were some sad times like that, so I said to myself, ‘I wanna pick myself up and be the most prolific writer in the band.'”

Chris Hughes reveals details of dramatic burglary

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Hughes’ family home was burgled for money and shotguns in February.
The reality TV star has revealed that a group of thieves stole cash and firearms from his family’s country home, having bypassed eight of their dogs en route to the money and guns.
He recalled: “It was awful, we lost so much.
“But the worst thing was one of our many dogs who was in the room they broke into was left wrecked with nerves.”
In fact, Chris revealed that one of the dogs is now being treated with a pheromone-releasing substance in a bid to ease his anxiety.
He told The Sun Online: “When we got broken into last month Buster was in the one of the rooms searched and he’s been very nervous ever since. They stole thousands of pounds and shotguns.”
Chris revealed details of the dramatic break-in shortly after he admitted he’s the happiest he’s “ever been”.
The TV star also gushed about his “best friend” and lover Jesy Nelson, who stars in the chart-topping girl group Little Mix.
He explained: “I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. It’s official, she’s my girlfriend.
“I’m so happy, she’s the nicest girl I’ve ever met, this is no exaggeration, she’s got a heart like she was your mother or something. She’s so caring. We just get on like best mates, and that’s the beauty about it.”

Ralph Fiennes not naturally funny

OHMYGOSSIP — Ralph Fiennes isn’t naturally funny.
The 56-year-old actor waited a long time to work in comedy until he got roles in the likes of ‘Hail, Caesar!’ and ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ but he credits their success to the quality of the writing.
He said: “It wasn’t me waiting [for a comedy], it was people suddenly scratching their heads and going, ‘Maybe this could work’.
“I think Martin McDonagh got some humour out of me in ‘In Bruges’, which is a lot to do with his writing.
“I always had a sense that I could do comedy, but the writing has to be right and the director has to be right.
“I’m not someone who can just be fun.
“There are actors who naturally have a thing, a spiel, a schtick. I don’t feel any of that but I can identify it in a situation.
“Wes Anderson is very particular, and comedy and timing have to be right. And the Coen brothers are very skillful at guiding you.
“So if my comedy work is any good, it’s because I’ve had great scripts and directors really.”
And Ralph admitted he was left disappointed when ‘Homes & Watson’ – in which he stars alongside Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly in the title roles – was savaged by critics because it had seemed so funny when they were shooting, though he hasn’t seen the finished movie to understand the backlash.
He told Empire magazine: “They were very, very funny on set, so I’m sad that – for whatever reason and I’ve not seen the film yet – it seems that has not carried into the finished film.
“But it was entertaining to watch them do their stuff.
“It seemed like it would be very funny. So that’s a disappointment.”
