Tiesto cancels Super Bowl show due to ‘family emergency’

OHMYGOSSIP — Tiesto has cancelled his DJ set at the Super Bowl due to a “personal family emergency”.
The 55-year-old beatmaker – who hails from the Netherlands – had been due to entertain the crowds during the big game at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday (11.02.24) but he’s now pulled out of the show and made plans to head home, admitting it was a “tough decision” but he had to put his loved ones first.
Tiesto – real name Tijs Verwest – said in a statement: “Me and my team have been preparing something truly special for months, but a personal family emergency is forcing me to return home Sunday morning.
“It was a tough decision to miss the game, but family always comes first. Thank you to the @NFL for the collaboration and looking forward to working with them to deliver something incredible together in the future.”
Variety reports a representative for the NFL has confirmed there is a plan in place to replace Tiesto at the Super Bowl, but details have yet to be announced.
The cancellation comes after the DJ admitted he was feeling the pressure of playing to such a huge audience, but was feeling excited about the big game.
He told Variety: “Two hundred million people watching? Yeah, that’s a bit of pressure. But I’m more excited than anything else. A lot of people who have never heard of Tiesto will know about me …
“I’m lucky that a lot of sports teams and stadiums already use my music during game. It’s not that far off for me to get a set together. In between quarters is not that long, so I have to mix really fast, four or five songs in that period, and keep the stadium on their toes.”

Lady Gaga shares snaps from studio as she hints at demon theme

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga has sent fans into overdrive after posting a handful of pictures from the studio.
The ‘Born This Way’ hitmaker has seemingly been hard at work on her seventh solo album – the long-awaited follow-up to 2020’s ‘Chromatica’ – and she has posted about a devil/demon, with some guessing she could be dropping a song called ‘Demon’.
However, Gaga also joked that her new album is “in the vault being protected by the devil.”
Alongside a black-and-white studio snap of herself laying down vocals and other parts, she cryptically wrote on Instagram: “Tik tok tik tok.”
Another of her playing keys was simply captioned with the demon emoji.
Although the ‘Million Reasons’ hitmaker hasn’t put out a solo record in four years, she teamed up with late music legend and dear friend, Tony Bennett, on 2021’s ‘Love for Sale’ LP, a follow-up to 2014’s ‘Cheek to Cheek’.
Gaga is yet to officially announce her seventh album.
The 37-year-old Grammy winner recently teamed up with The Rolling Stones on the duet, ‘Sweet Sounds Of Heaven’, from their latest album ‘Hackney Diamonds’.
Frontman Sir Mick Jagger shared how Gaga got “slightly competitive” in the recording studio.
The 80-year-old rocker had a “great experience” working with the ‘House of Gucci’ actress on the track – which also features Stevie Wonder on keys – because he enjoyed watching her grow in confidence as the session progressed.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, he said: “She’s a really great singer and I’d never heard her sing quite that style before. Not exactly.
“We did it live in the room and that was a great experience, her just coming in the room and her just opening up and seeing her bits and feeling her way and then getting more confident.
“And then we came back and then did some extra parts that we hadn’t done on the day and then we did some tidying up and we were just in the overdub room, really face-to-face, getting them really tight, the parts really tight, and then being slightly competitive and screaming.”

Usher’s new album Coming Home was a family affair

OHMYGOSSIP — Usher’s teenage sons were his advisors on his new album ‘Coming Home’.
The ‘My Boo’ hitmaker has revealed Usher Raymond ‘Cinco’ V, 16 and Naviyd Ely, 15 – whom he has with his ex-wife Tameka Foster – gave him lots of ideas for his latest LP, which is out today (09.02.24), and he finds it heartwarming that they care so much about their father’s work.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, he said: “By the way, they both advise me all the time.
“What’s beautiful is that they care enough to give an opinion and that they feel comfortable sharing it. That’s the other thing because parents at some point become uncool and don’t understand or don’t listen or won’t pay attention. So, I give them the space to.”
He added: “It took a minute, right? ‘Cause I’m like, ‘Man, you just sit in the room. You want to play video games and you want to make TikToks all day. ‘
“But eventually, they were beginning to come up with ideas.”
‘Coming Home’ is a star-studded collection, including ‘Good Good’ featuring Summer Walker and 21 Savage, ‘Risk It All’ featuring H.E.R., and ‘Standing Next To You (Remix)’ featuring BTS’ Jungkook.
The R’n’B superstar’s 20-track collection also boasts the title track with Burna Boy, ‘A-Town Girl’ with Latto, ‘Cold Blooded’ with The-Dream, and ‘Ruin’ with Pheelz.
Meanwhile, it was Naviyd who came up with the idea to have “Ush Bucks”, the singer’s fake currency, at his My Way Las Vegas residency.
Usher – who also has daughter Sovereign Bo, three, and son Sire Castrello, two, with partner Jenn Goicoechea – said: “Ush Bucks, that came from Naviyd.
“He’s a little genius. He’s like, ‘You should do Ush Bucks and you should like give them out like, you know, make it rain,’ My mom was like, ‘No, you gotta make it rain.’ So we came up with this idea. But it’s great that family can sit around and talk about creative ideas. How I launch my album, a lot of the creative ideas they come from my kids believe it or not.”
And they have a very clear vision for their dad’s Super Bowl VIII Halftime Show performance at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday (11.02.24).
Usher shared: “Cinco’s like, ‘You know I’m trying to turn up, man,’ and Naviyd’s like, ‘No, we gotta make sure that everybody can do the dances, you gotta play this number, you should start with this.’
“I’m like, ‘Why don’t you play the Super Bowl then?’ You know what I’m saying?”
He continued: “They have an opinion and it’s real. Like this is what I feel and this is what I look at, this is what we are. So yeah, in some way, it’s authentic but it’s not trying to just fit in, like, ‘No, this is what I like and this what I would like to see you do.'”
Usher’s little girl, Sovereign, is also featured in his music video for ‘Ruin’.

Rod Stewart takes swipe at Ed Sheeran: ‘I don’t know any of his songs’

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Rod Stewart has taken a veiled swipe at Ed Sheeran by admitting he doesn’t know any of his songs.
The ‘Handbags and Gladrags’ hitmaker, 79, took aim at the 32-year-old Grammy winner before heaping praise on pop star George Ezra, 30, for penning “really tremendous songs” that he believes will stand the test of time.
Asked if timeless songs are still being made, he told The Times newspaper: “I’m sure they are.
“You mean like Maggie May?
“Songs that will be played in 50 years?” Exactly. “I like whatshisname. Oh great, Rod. Well done. He’s British, really talented and his songs will be around. Erm …”
Asked if he meant the ‘Shape of You’ hitmaker, he replied: “No, not Ed, I don’t know any of his songs, old ginger [redacted]. Jesus …”
He then sang a lyric to George’s song ‘Shotgun’: “I’ll be riding shotgun …”
When the interviewer named him, he continued: “Yes! I think he writes really tremendous songs. He’ll be around for quite a while.”
In the joint interview with Jools Holland – who has teamed up with Rod on the album ‘Swing Fever’ – his collaborated added: “More people want to do it and fewer people are able to do it.”
The ‘Sailing’ hitmaker then took a pop at “kids” in music today just wanting fame and money and not caring about their craft.
He said: “We were brave in those days to go into the music business.
“We didn’t know where it would take us but record companies were different. They would give you a try.
Also, the people I came up with — the Stones, Elton — we all came into it because we loved the music. Money and fame didn’t factor — it was a burning ambition to sing. That may have changed. Now it’s more, ‘Ooh, let’s have a go at music. I don’t even have to play well. Maybe I’ll get rich.’ Fame comes before everything. All kids want is fame.”

David Guetta drops remix of Saltburn viral noughties hit Perfect (Exceeder) by Princess Superstar

OHMYGOSSIP — David Guetta has dropped a remix of Princess Superstar’s noughties hit ‘Perfect (Exceeder)’.
The 52-year-old US rapper – whose real name is Concetta Suzanne Kirschner – famously teamed up with Dutch star Mason on the 2006 mash-up of his 2006 instrumental dance track ‘Exceeder’ and Princess Superstar’s 2005 hit ‘Perfect’.
The remix by the world-famous French DJ comes off the back of the track being featured in the 2023 movie ‘Saltburn’, and much like Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’, which soundtracked a viral scene in Emerald Fennell’s spicy flick, it has been having somewhat of a resurgence.
The tune went viral on TikTok with 50 million videos using it and it also hit Spotify’s Viral 50 in 46 countries and is number 16 on the global chart. It has also exceeded 55 million streams and entered the UK Top 30 for the first time in 17 years.
In 2007, the song peaked at number 3 in the UK.
In the US, meanwhile, ‘Perfect (Exceeder)’ reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot Dance / Electronica Songs chart for the first time.
Princess Superstar said of the remix: “I’m so grateful for this unexpected bit of divine wind, and am super excited for this next chapter in my life as an artist. David Guetta is a powerhouse in the dance music scene, and I believe I speak for both Mason and myself when I express the honour we feel that he chose to contribute to the track. The revamped version is undeniably epic!”
Guetta, 56, commented: “Mason and Princess Superstar created something so special with the original; there is no surprise that it is gaining such momentum all over again. I’m so humbled to collaborate with both artists to elevate the track into a new realm while preserving the timeless essence of the original.”
Mason, 44, added: “I am humbled to be sharing this moment with Princess Superstar and now with David Guetta. It truly is an honour!”
Another remix by drum and bass star 1991 dropped last month.
Princess Superstar also went viral after rapper Doja Cat posted a video of her lip-syncing to her track ‘Famous’, resulting in eight million views.

J Noa releases new single Era de Cristal

OHMYGOSSIP — J Noa has released her brand new single ‘Era de Cristal’.
The Dominican rap prodigy’s new track has been produced by Trooko and focuses on common problems faced by adolescents – such as mental health, happiness and the anxiety of living in a world where suffering seems inevitable.
The music video has been directed by Lennyn Salinas and was filmed in the Dominican Republic’s capital Santo Domingo with gritty visuals bringing the track’s hard-hitting lyrics to life.
J Noa earned her first Latin Grammy nomination for Best Rap/ Hip Hop Song with her debut EP ‘Autodidacta’ with her lightning-fast rap delivery articulating the realities of her homeland.
‘Autodidacta’ was released last year – featuring the tracks ‘No Me Pueden Parar’ and ‘Betty’ – and features the self-proclaimed “daughter of rap” using her lyrics to talk about growing up as a black woman in one of the toughest neighbourhoods in Santo Domingo and being a female in the male-dominated rap game.
J Noa is set to present four showcases at the prestigious SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas next month before supporting the reggae, funk and salsa band Rawayana across their tour of the UK and Europe this April – taking in stops in Berlin, Munich, Paris and London.
The star previously declared her intention to “revive rap” with her “intentional” lyrics.
J Noa told Rolling Stone last year: “I feel like I came to revive rap. To me, most rappers should be intentional about what they write, about what they recite. Otherwise, why would rap serve them, or why would they be considered rappers if they don’t live the reality of what they’re rapping about?”

Jon Bon Jovi opening honky tank in Nashville

OHMYGOSSIP — Jon Bon Jovi is opening a honky tank in Nashville.
The Bon Jovi frontman and his bandmates have announced the bar and restaurant JBJ’s Nashville is set to open on Lower Broadway in spring 2024.
According to Rolling Stone, it will be taller than Broadway, the tallest building in the entertainment district.
The ‘It’s My Life’ hitmaker said: “When Big Plan Holdings and the team of Josh and Tara Joseph asked us if we were interested, it wasn’t because we were just another rock band.
“It was because we are a band with deep roots in Nashville. We have had wonderful times in Nashville recording several albums and working with some of the finest people in all the music business.
“I can’t wait to toast all of Broadway and get to know our neighbours!”
The rock star business owner previously opened the non-profit community restaurant JBJ Soul Kitchen in 2011, which now has additional restaurants in his native New Jersey.
In 2006, the 61-year-old musician founded the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation to assist with homelessness, poverty and hunger issues in the US by providing affordable housing, social services, job training, and much more.
And, amid the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, they set up the JBJ Soul Kitchen Food Bank to feed those in need.
He said: “Nearly two decades ago when I formed the JBJ Soul Foundation and JBJ Soul Kitchens, I saw firsthand and continue to see today the impact of charitable, community-based work.
“I know this for sure: Helping one’s community is helping oneself.”
The ‘Wanted Dead or Alive’ hitmaker was just honoured as the MusiCares Person Of The Year for 2024, for the JBJ Soul Foundation, on February 2.

Jeff Beck’s final recording is a star-studded, history-making charity single featuring world’s greatest guitarists

OHMYGOSSIP — Jeff Beck’s final recording is a star-studded Mark Knopfler charity record featuring his fellow Guitar Heroes.
The former Dire Straits rocker is set to re-release ‘Going Home (Theme From Local Hero)’ – his legendary soundtrack to the 1983 Scottish comedy-drama film – to raise funds for the UK’s Teenage Cancer Trust and Teen Cancer America.
Compacted to nine minutes long, almost all the world’s most iconic guitarists take turns on the history-making anthem.
The epic list of contributors includes Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood, Guns N’ Roses’ Slash, plus Eric Clapton, Sting, Joan Armatrading, Bruce Springsteen, The Who’s Pete Townshend, Nile Rodgers, Joan Jett, and Queen’s Brian May.
Not forgetting, Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi and Joe Walsh of Eagles, to current hero, Sam Fender, plus many more.
The late great Jeff Beck – who died after contracting bacterial meningitis in January 2023 aged 78 – opens the song with an emotional solo.
Producer Guy Fletcher said of his part: “It was absolutely meant to be.
“And what he did with it, it just brings you to tears.”
The Who’s Roger Daltrey, Teenage Cancer Trust’s Honorary Patron and co-founder of Teen Cancer America (with his bandmate Pete Townshend), plays harmonica, Beatles legend Ringo Starr and his son Zak Starkey are on drums, with the pair alternating seamlessly.
Sting completes the rhythm section on bass.
Legendary artist Sir Peter Blake – who is best known for his work for The Beatles, The Who, and Paul Weller – designed the artwork featuring cutouts of all the contributors squeezed into the backdrop of Hanks guitar shop.
Knopfler said: “What I really want to do, more than anything else, is just to thank each and every one for this sterling response.
“I really had no idea that it was going to be like this. It hit Guy and I quite early on that we had to extend this piece somehow, to take in the number of people who joined in.
“Before I knew where I was, Pete Townshend had come into my studio armed with a guitar and an amp. And that first Pete power chord…man, I tell you. We were in that territory, and it was just fantastic. And it went on from there. Eric [Clapton] came in, played great, just one tasty lick after another. Then Jeff Beck’s contribution arrived and that was spellbinding. I think what we’ve had is an embarrassment of riches, really. The whole thing was a high point.”
The recording started life at British Grove Studios, in West London, with Pete Townshend, Eric Clapton and Albert Lee.
Mark Knopfler’s Guitar Heroes release ‘Going Home (Theme From Local Hero)’ on March 15.
As well as a minimum of 50 per cent of the net proceeds (£1 per CD and 25p per download) going to the two charities, leading guitar makers have donated a total of eight guitars to be signed by the contributing artists. Half have been sold in the US for Teen Cancer America. However, the remaining guitars bear the signatures of the contributors and will benefit Teenage Cancer Trust.
Pre-order the single now via markknopflersguitarheroes.tmstor.es or the iTunes Store.

Lose Control hitmaker Teddy Swims: ‘If I had this success at 21, I would be dead’

OHMYGOSSIP — Teddy Swims says success at 21 would have left him “dead”.
The ‘Lose Control’ hitmaker finally found viral success with the track from his debut album ‘I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 1)’ last year, after years of making music, including being in metal bands in his early days.
However, the 31-year-old soul singer admits that he wouldn’t have coped with the pressures of the music industry if he’d been thrown into the chaos a decade ago.
He told Variety: “I used to be so impatient and wanted everything to happen now, but if I had this success at 21, I would be dead.
“I would’ve spun out and got strung out and thrown this all the way had it happened any moment before right now.”
On why the song is so popular, he suggested: “You don’t hear a lot of songs like ‘Lose Control’ anymore.
“It’s got roots in country, rock, Motown, and R’n’B — and it was made to be sung live.
“We’ve put money into doing regular videos before, but for us that always ends up being a waste of time. People still want to see live music.”
While it might seem like an overnight success, Teddy had been trying to write a hit like ‘Lose Control’ for several years.
He said: “I’ve actually been making—or trying to make—this kind of music for the last four years.
“‘Lose Control’ is just the first time I really hit the mark.”
He added of going viral: “I used to think that it wasn’t enough to have a good song anymore.
“Now I disagree with that.”
The heavily tattooed star also admitted that his look would have hindered his career if he had been starting out in the ’90s.
He said: “If I looked like this 30 years ago, they would have said lose 80 pounds, get rid of the face tattoos, and then we’ll think about it.”
For now, Teddy is focused on pushing ‘Lose Control’ as far as it can go, but fans can expect ‘I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2)’.

Taylor Swift vows to keep making albums as she loves making music

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift has hit back at those who criticise her for releasing “so many albums”.
The 34-year-old pop megastar announced her 11th studio album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, whilst accepting the Album of the Year prize for ‘Midnights’ at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (04.02.24), and she has now told those people to “leave me alone” and let her do what she “loves”.
Speaking to her fans at one of her Tokyo Dome shows as part of her ‘Eras World Tour’ in Japan, she said of the follow-up: “I’ve been working on it for about two years.
“I kept working on it throughout the US tour and when it was perfect – in my opinion when it’s good enough for you – I finished it and I am so, so excited that soon you’ll get to hear it. Soon we’ll get to experience that together.
She added: “I’m over the moon about the fact that you guys care about my music, it still blows my mind. Everyone’s like, ‘Why do you make so many albums?’ I’m like, ‘Man, because I love it. I love it so much.’ I’m having fun, leave me alone.”
The ‘Anti-Hero’ hitmaker shared the 17-song tracklist for the upcoming record on Monday night (05.02.24) with an image of herself alongside writing that said: “I love you, it’s ruining my life.
“From the desk of Taylor Swift.”
The album features two collaborations, with Post Malone and Florence and the Machine, and the first song on the album is Taylor’s collaboration with the ‘Circles’ hitmaker titled ‘Fortnight’.
It’s followed by the tracks ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, ‘My Boy Only Breaks His Favourite Toys’, ‘Down Bad’ and ‘So Long, London’.
Track six is ‘But Daddy I Love Him’, followed by ‘Fresh Out The Slammer’ and the Florence and the Machine collaboration ‘Florida!!!’
The ninth song is called ‘Guilty as Sin?’
Meanwhile, ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour’ concert film is heading to Disney+ on March 15.

Kylie Minogue eyes Harry Styles duet

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Minogue wants to duet with Harry Styles.
The ‘Padam Padam’ hitmaker – who now has two Grammy awards to her name after her second win for the 2023 hit at this past weekend’s ceremony – has revealed she would love to record a future hit with the former One Direction star.
She told E! News: “Harry Styles or something would be good. Wouldn’t that be good?”
That’s not all, Kylie, 55, the Princess of Pop, is still hoping to bag a collaboration with Madonna, 65, the Queen of Pop.
She said: “We would both love it.
“I know I would, she’s mentioned it before. So hey, maybe.”
In the meantime, Kylie has joined forces with fellow Aussie Sia on the dance anthem ‘Dance Alone’.
Meanwhile, the ‘Spinning Around’ hitmaker just said she would love to experiment with indie folk.
The disco-pop icon is a huge fan of the genre and would love to do a song or two in that vein.
Speaking to Billboard at the Grammy Awards this past weekend, she said: “I did a song [1995’s ‘Where the Wild Roses Grow’] with Nick Cave, which was back in the 90s. It was quite alternative, it was a murder ballad. So there’s that.
But I enjoy a lot of indie folk, which I haven’t really done myself.
“I don’t think I’ve ever said that out loud, but that would be fun.”
She then clarified: “Maybe it’s not an entire album, just a little taste.”
At the bash in Los Angeles on Sunday (04.02.24), Kylie said it felt like the start of a “new era”.
The pop idol’s club anthem ‘Padam Padam’ from her LP ‘Tension’ was the inaugural winner of the new accolade, Best Pop Dance Recording, beating the likes of David Guetta, Anne-Marie and Coi Leray’s ‘Baby Don’t Hurt Me’, Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding’s ‘Miracle’, Bebe Rexha and Guetta’s ‘One in a Million’ and Troye Sivan’s ‘Rush’.
Speaking to ‘E!’s Live from the Red Carpet’ host Laverne Cox after the win, Kylie said in a message to her LGBTQ+ fans: “I would say thank you for being with me for such a long time now, through thick and thin.
“We ride the highs, the lows, and the in-betweens, and to know that we’ve got each other’s backs and this feels like the start of the next era.”

Usher almost QUIT music

OHMYGOSSIP — Usher almost quit music and became an actor.
The 45-year-old R’n’B superstar – who is headlining the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday (11.02.24) – has revealed he contemplated giving up his career because he couldn’t emulate the success of his 2004 album ‘Confessions’.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he said: “I hadn’t had a successful record as successful as [2004’s] Confessions, and there was this analysing [thought], like, ‘Man, should I continue to do this, or should I pivot and become an actor?’”
Fortunately, he decided he couldn’t step away from doing what he “really” loves.
In 2020, the ‘Yeah!’ hitmaker announced a Las Vegas residency at the Colosseum at Caesars’ Palace, and the shows rejuvenated his career, with him landing the title of the “new King of Vegas”.
He continued: “I went to Las Vegas with no promise in a time when the world was not going anywhere because we were in a pandemic, and [I] had the hope that I could arouse people enough to come to Las Vegas and celebrate with me.
“And it turned into, not only the most successful moments of Las Vegas history, but one of the most successful moments in my life.”
Usher – who releases his star-studded album ‘Coming Home’ on Friday (09.02.24) – says it’s his sheer self-belief that has led him to the momentous milestone of headlining the mid-way slot at the major sporting spectacle.
He added: “And then to play the Super Bowl, that right there is a virtuous story of belief in self, man. I’m a 45-year-old artist who has found my way into an incredible moment as a result of belief in myself and the fact that I didn’t let anything deter it, no matter what it looked like, no matter what the comparison to previous albums were. I didn’t care about none of that. I was like, ‘I believe in making quality and quality performance matters. I want to go to Las Vegas where I can spread my wings and be creative and do things the way I want to do them; not just wait for a successful album in hopes that I’m going to be able to put together a tour and travel the world. The crescendo of that is the Super Bowl. Man, I’m so happy and blessed.”
Following the Super Bowl, Usher is set to embark on the ‘Past Present Future Tour’ this August in North America.
Usher has been inundated with requests to bring his show to the UK and beyond and even posted a GIF of a young boy raising his eyebrows when asked about a London date on X (Twitter).
Citi and Verizon presales for the North American dates begin today (07.02.24). Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general on-sale beginning Monday, February 12 at 10am local time via LiveNation.com.

Kate Nash drops new single and signs first record label in over a decade

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Nash has signed with independent label Kill Rock Stars and dropped new single ‘Change’.
The ‘Foundations’ hitmaker has spent over a decade self-releasing her music but is now embarking on a new stage in career, while her latest song has been inspired by the need to grow “to maintain good relationships”.
She said in a statement: “Change is about relationships and how they are ever evolving, constant effort is required to maintain good relationships.
“You can’t become complacent with others or with yourself. But you also have to learn to accept when a relationship is over, whether it’s a romantic relationship or a friendship or a working relationship or even something within yourself that has become toxic or negative in some way.
“Things end and that’s ok. My mum always told me to sleep on it if I was having trouble with something, she always said it’ll be easier to deal with in the morning and that thought still comforts me now.
“When the sun comes up it’s a new day and there’s a new opportunity to make changes, make your bed, make a cup of coffee and be honest with yourself.”
Meanwhile, she reflected on her decision to sign to a new label after so long.
She added: “12 years of independence as an artist has taught me so much. It’s given me a stronger sense of self and an undeniable commitment to my work. It’s forced me to face unique challenges and to practise discipline in regard to my art.
“I am so excited to take every lesson with me into this new chapter as I sign to Kill Rock Stars, who are such an important indie label with incredible music history and impeccable music taste.
“Meeting Slim, Rob Sydney made me feel like I could be at home on a label again. My favourite thing in the world is to collaborate with good people, I can’t wait to put records out together and to see where this journey takes us.”
Kill Rock Stars hailed the activist, actress and musician as someone who “makes art for the right reasons”.
They said: “She wants to make the world a better place.”
In May, Kate will perform a special headline show at London’s EartH Theatre.

The evening was packed with epic performances from the latter performing his latest single ‘Double Standards’ (featuring Sampha) to MOBO Impact Award honourees Sugababes wowing with a medley of their hits, ‘Overload’, ‘Push The Button’ and ‘Freak Like Me’.

MOBO Founder and CEO, Kanya King CBE said: “I’m still overjoyed by the celebration of black music and culture we witnessed last night at the 26th MOBO Awards in Sheffield. It’s become an instant classic in MOBO history. Since 1996, MOBO has been an unstoppable force, championing black culture, providing a platform for many unheard voices to be seen and heard, particularly in the city of Sheffield, leaving a legacy that will endure long after we are gone. Together, MOBO and our stellar array of talent elevated the scene to such heights and created a real landmark moment. Our hosts Indiyah, Babatunde and Zeze entertained us with such charisma, humour and passion. I also want to congratulate each and every winner, every nominee and performer, who all gave standout performances. You can watch it all again on YouTube and this Friday evening from the comfort of your sofa on BBC One, Access All Areas with DJ Target taking you behind the scenes. You don’t want to miss it!”

Alice Cooper returns to the airwaves with new radio show

OHMYGOSSIP — Alice Cooper has returned to radio with ‘Alice’s Attic’.
The shock rock pioneer – who just turned 76 on Sunday (04.02.24) – has made a comeback on the airwaves, two years after his long-running show ‘Nights with Alice Cooper’ wrapped.
The ‘Poison’ hitmaker has teamed up with Superadio to syndicate the show, which runs Monday through to Thursday.
In a statement, Alice said: “To all of my insane radio minions, I’m BACK.
“And if you thought 20 years of ‘Nights with Alice Cooper’ was weird, just wait until you get into ‘Alice’s Attic!’ Just think about who or what could be lurking in all these dusty old boxes. We’ve got the same team behind the new show and so you’ll find the show fairly familiar, but we’re all looking forward to getting a little more creative with introducing new elements to keep things from getting stale. Speaking of stale… what IS that smell??!””
Listeners can expect a “curated mix of classic and some obscure rock, with an occasional ‘future classic’ song, plus Cooper’s stories and commentary about the music and artists he features.”
Those in the US and Australia can currently tune in, with local stations in Canada and the UK also set to get ‘Alice’s Attic’.
Over the years, Alice interviewed the likes of Joe Perry of Aerosmith and his band The Hollywood Vampires, Brian Johnson of AC/DC, Ozzy Osbourne, Meat Loaf, Rob Zombie, and many more on ‘Nights with Alice Cooper’.
