Lady Gaga to drop Perfect Illusion on Friday

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga’s new single ‘Perfect Illusion’ is to be released on Friday (09.09.16).
The ‘Born This Way’ hitmaker’s fans – known as Little Monsters – have reportedly examined her website’s source code and discovered the release date for her hotly-anticipated fourth LP.
The homepage was changed to a colourful moving screen with the title of the new single, and fans were quick to break the coding to unveil details about the 30-year-old pop superstar’s song including four previews of the track.
However, website moderators have since removed all this information and a spokesman for the star refused to comment on the matter.
The ‘Poker Face’ singer announced last month that fans can expect ‘Perfect Illusion’ sometime this month.
At the time, she wrote: “LADY GAGA NEW SINGLE PERFECT ILLUSION SEPTEMBER ladygaga.com #PerfectIllusion #LG5 (sic)”
The track was written with Mark Ronson, Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker and producer Bloodpop.
Gaga also revealed her forthcoming song’s title on Instagram by sharing 12 separate posts which when seen altogether spell out: “Lady Gaga Perfect Illusion New Single September Perfect Illusion”
The blonde beauty dropped single ‘Til It Happens To You’ in 2015 for ‘The Hunting Ground’ – a documentary about rape – but this upcoming song will be her first solo album material since 2013’s ‘Artpop’ LP.

Axl Rose: I don't know why Izzy won't rejoin Guns N' Roses

OHMYGOSSIP — Axl Rose has admitted he doesn’t know why Izzy Stradlin won’t rejoin Guns N’ Roses.
The 54-year-old guitarist left the band in 1991, six years after being one of the founding members of the rockers.
Now, with most of the original line up reuniting for a tour for the first time since 1993, frontman Axl, also 54, says he can’t understand why Izzy won’t be a part of it.
Speaking to Brazilian news show ‘Fantástico’, the singer said: “I don’t really know what to say about Izzy. It’s like you could have a conversation and think it’s one way, and the next day it’s another way. And I’m not trying to take any shots at Izzy. It’s just his thing is kind of his thing, whatever that is.”
The original line up – which consisted of Izzy and Axl, joined by Slash, Duff McKagan, and Steven Adler – was also notably missing 51-year-old drummer Steven, who has played sparingly on tour due to injury.
Axl said: “I have no idea. When this started, Steven had just had back surgery and stuff, so I don’t have any idea about that.”
With Izzy absent from the line up of the ‘Paradise City’ hitmakers, Richard Fortus, 49, has been filling in on guitar. Frank Ferrer, who has been a member of the band since 2006, is on drums in the absence of Steven.
The continued lack of support from Izzy comes after the manager of the ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ musicians confirmed their tour would extend into 2017.
Speaking previously, he said: “I’ve been told there is no end date. I’ve seen plenty of date going into next year, far into next year.
“Everybody’s working together to keep a common goal and common direction – keep the machine going.”

Ice Cube won't shed tears for Jerry Heller

OHMYGOSSIP — Ice Cube won’t shed any tears over the death of N.W.A.’s former manager Jerry Heller.
The 47-year-old rapper famously fell out with the group’s original manager, who died last week aged 75, and while the star insisted he isn’t going to be celebrating his passing, he won’t be losing sleep over it either.
Speaking on Detroit radio station 107.5, he said: “I didn’t have no emotions. I’m just glad I’m with my brothers today. I’m glad I’m with DJ Yella, I’m glad I’m with MC Ren today, it’s only right.
“I ain’t gonna pop no champagne, but I ain’t gonna shed no tears either. It is what it is. We come here to pass, and he’s outta here. Like I said, I’m not losing no sleep over that one.”
Ice Cube previously claimed he hadn’t been paid properly for his work with the ‘Gangsta Gangsta’ hitmakers but never sued Jerry, who wasn’t convicted for any wrongdoing.
The rapper – whose real name is O’Shea Jackson Sr. – left the hip hop group in 1989 due to royalty disputes.
Jerry co-founded Ruthless Records with NWA member Eazy-E, who died from complications of AIDS in March 1995 aged 30.
He filed a defamation lawsuit last year after left being annoyed with the way he was portrayed in N.W.A. biopic ‘Straight Outta Compton’, in which he was portrayed by Paul Giamatti.
In his memoir, Ruthless: A Memoir, Jerry denied financial impropriety accusations and insisted in the book that Ice Cube didn’t understand finances.
He also claimed he was nothing but “pro Ice Cube”, despite the rapper releasing diss track ‘No Vaseline’ aimed at Jerry and his former bandmates Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, MC Ren and DJ Yella.

The Weeknd tips next LP to be his 'best'

OHMYGOSSIP — The Weeknd has tipped his new record to be the “best- sounding album” he’s ever made.
The ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ hitmaker – whose real name is Abel Tesfaye – has also teased that the record is inspired by everyone from The Smiths through to Prince and has an “aggressive” edge to it.
In an interview with VMAN magazine, Abel said: “The production feels aggressive but still sexy. The Smiths, Bad Brains, Talking Heads, Prince and DeBarge play roles.
“We wrote it all in Los Angeles. I think it’ll be the best-sounding album I’ve ever done. It’s hard to label the sound because, when I first came out, nobody would label it R&B. I just want to keep pushing the envelope without it feeling forced.”
So far all that is known is that Abel is reportedly teaming up with the French electronic duo Daft Punk on a new song, much to the delight of an executive from the singer’s record label.
Wendy Goldstein, Republic Records executive VP/head of urban A&R, recently said: “We have a session coming up in two days with The Weeknd and Daft Punk. I’m a massive Daft Punk fan, and this is the first time that I’ve actually been involved with an artist who’s going to go and work with them.”
Abel also hinted at the collaboration last month when he uploaded a photograph of two Daft Punk action figures sat on top of a speaker on his Facebook page.
Their third album will be the follow-up to 2015’s ‘Beauty Behind the Madness’.

Sean Paul calls out Justin Bieber for appropriation of Dancehall

OHMYGOSSIP — Sean Paul has called out Justin Bieber and Kanye West for ripping off Dancehall.
The ‘Let Me Love You’ hitmaker and ‘Fade’ rapper are just of two of the names the 43-year-old star has slammed for their appropriation of the popular genre that originate in his hometown of Kingston, Jamaica in the 1970s.
The ‘Get Busy’ singer also pointed out that Drake and dance production trio Major Lazer – comprised of Diplo, Jillionaire and Walshy Fire – don’t credit the traditional Dancehall sound.
Sean said: “It’s a sore point when people like Drake or Bieber or other artists come and do Dancehall-orientated music, but don’t credit where Dancehall came from and don’t necessarily understand it.
“A lot of people get upset and sour. I know artists back in Jamaica who don’t like Major Lazer, as they think they do the same thing Drake and Kanye did – they take and take and don’t credit.”
Sean went on to say that he believes the genre is well and truly back, but it has been reincarnated as an infusion of other genres including hip hop and trap.
He added: “Dancehall is back, but this time it’s also infused with Afrobeat, hip hop, trap – and that’s fine with me.”
The ‘Cheap Thrills’ hitmaker – who defined Dancehall in the early 2000s – also admitted he has worried in the past that he’s not relevant anymore and that he feels like he was once a massive star and now he’s starting over again.
He told the Guardian newspaper: “Since about 2009, I was fighting that worry that I wasn’t relevant no more.
“It does stress you out at times. I was like, ‘I was up here and now I’m nothing to people.'”

Charlie Puth records song for Alicia Keys

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlie Puth has recorded a song for Alicia Keys.
The ‘See You Again’ hitmaker got into the studio with his fellow ‘The Voice US’ mentor to work on the track and said it was one of the “most special songwriting sessions” he’s ever had.
Asked about the song, he told PopSugar: “The song is for Alicia, but I have to respect the art and not give too much away, because we only want to show the finished product. I will say, though, that it was one of the most special songwriting sessions I’ve ever had. It was a very humanistic process. It didn’t feel like record labels put us together. She’s just a people person and it made me feel really comfortable working with a superstar. And I think we wrote a superstar song.”
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old pop hunk – who teamed up with Selena Gomez on ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’ – has said he’d love to work with John Mayer in the future.
He said: “I would love to collaborate with John Mayer, who I got the pleasure of meeting a couple months ago. I think he’s fantastic. He’s another Berkeley cat. We stayed in the same dorm room — shout-out to 737 — so immediately we had something to talk about.
“And I just love his chord changes and his knowledge of what goes into a record. That was his major at Berkeley and that’s what I studied as well, so we have a lot in common.”

Katy Perry fan Stevie Nicks

OHMYGOSSIP — Stevie Nicks is massive Katy Perry and Adele fan.
The Fleetwood Mac legend loves the ‘Roar’ singer and admires the ‘Hello’ hitmaker – who has three-year-old son Angelo with her partner Simon Konecki – for being so successful that it doesn’t matter how long she takes to write an album, she will always be in demand.
Asked which other female artists she looks up to, she said: “I have so many favourites. I love Katy Perry. And I’m so happy for Adele right now.
She’ll do what I did – she’ll figure out a way to stay in the business.
“The big difference between her and me is that she has a child, and that will change things for her, but I think Adele knows what she wants and I don’t think she’s in a hurry.
“And that’s great. If she needs to go away for three years, she doesn’t feel like somebody’s going to take her place. When you believe in yourself that much, you can take as long as you want.”
Meanwhile, the 68-year-old musician also said she doesn’t think she would have been able to perform on stage for three hours back in the 80s because of the amount of cocaine she consumed.
The ‘Go Your Own Way’ hitmaker told The New York Times: “I wouldn’t want to ever go back there. Yes, it was a lot of fun between 1975 and 1990 – until it wasn’t.
“I walk onstage every night now and do a three-hour show with Fleetwood Mac, and I have a great time up there.
“I wish I had known that I actually had the energy to do this entire set totally sober and get just as excited.
“On one hand, that makes me feel great and on the other hand it makes me sad that I ever did my first line of coke.”

Rita Ora will cherish memories of Mother Teresa's canonisation

OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Ora will “cherish” the moment she performed to celebrate Mother Teresa’s canonisation “forever”.
The 25-year-old pop star delivered an incredible rendition of Christmas carol ‘What Child Is This?’ on stage at St. Peter’s Basilica on Saturday night (03.09.16) to mark Pope Francis declaring the late Roman Catholic nun and missionary a saint.
Rita was asked to be part of the event because she shares Albanian heritage with Mother Theresa and she took to her Twitter account afterwards to share her joy at being part of the once in a lifetime event.
She tweeted: “I am honoured to have been invited as an ambassador to Kosovo, to sing at the canonization of Mother Theresa … Singing What Child Is This to celebrate her life and legacy will be a moment I cherish forever. (sic)”
Rita was accompanied inside the Vatican City in Rome, Italy, by her sister Elena and their parents Vera and Besnik – who moved from Kosovo to raise their family in London.
The ‘I Will Never Let You Down’ hitmaker posted a photo of her family together on Twitter after she sang with the caption: “The Ora’s take Rome (sic)”
Pope Francis had been expected to attend the concert – which also featured performances from Albanian singers Ermonela Jaho, Inva Mula and Saimir Pirgu – but he did not appear to be among guests.
The concert took place the day before Pope Francis officially named Mother Teresa – who died in September 1997 at the age of 1987 – a saint for her work with the poor in Calcutta, India, and for setting up the Missionaries of Charity.
On Sunday (04.09.16) in front of a huge crowd that had gathered in St. Peter’s Square, he made her a saint, saying: “We declare and define Blessed Teresa of Calcutta to be a saint and we enrol her among the saints, decreeing that she is to be venerated as such by the whole Church.
“She made her voice heard before the powers of the world, so that they might recognise their guilt for the crimes of poverty they themselves created.”

Emeli Sande wanted to disappear after debut success

OHMYGOSSIP — Emeli Sande wanted to “disappear” following the success of her debut album.
The 29-year-old singer burst into the spotlight in 2012 with the launch of her chart-topping release ‘Our Version of Events’, but has admitted she did not enjoy the subsequent attention.
She shared: “Sounds a bit dramatic but I just wanted to disappear. I just had this overwhelming sensation and realisation that everything had to stop. And then slowly it did.
“In retrospect, I was like a pressure cooker waiting to pop. I had to stop and really look at myself and realise who I was. That’s been the biggest lesson for me, learning to feel comfortable in who I am and what I represent and what I stand for.”
Emeli has returned to the spotlight with the launch of her new single ‘Hurts’, and she thinks it is the perfect tune to mark her long-awaited comeback.
She said: “I wanted to release ‘Hurts’ first because it felt like everything I’d avoided saying for so long.
“It’s a real explosion. It’s everything I wish I’d said years and years ago. I didn’t want to hold anything back any more.
“I’m proud of my first album and thankful for the experiences it gave me, but I’m so much happier with my new album and with where I am in life.”
This comes shortly after Emeli admitted she had massive doubts about her second album.
She confessed that the success of her first album and personal trauma – including a marriage split – left her worried.
She said: “For a long time, I couldn’t imagine ever going there again. I wanted to sing, but I wanted to do that in a totally different way. If I was going to come back, I had to know I could be an artist and not a product.
“For me, it was an accident that it was so successful. How do you go from this awkward, shy person to being out there, trying to protect yourself, but giving enough to get the music across? It’s such a strange balancing act.
“This time, I thought, if I can do it on my own terms, where I’m physically and psychologically healthy, then, all right, I’ll do it.”

Supersonic director claims Oasis will reunite

OHMYGOSSIP — The director of new Oasis documentary ‘Supersonic’ is convinced the band will reunite.
Matt Whitecross said it is “impossible” to imagine the chart-topping group will never get back together after their much-discussed split in 2009, which centred on an argument between Noel and Liam Gallagher.
Speaking at a special preview screening of ‘Supersonic’ at Festival No 6, Matt explained: “Neither of them have discounted the idea of getting back together. It will happen, I’m sure. The idea of never seeing them again for me is impossible.”
Matt revealed Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has been leading efforts to mend Noel and Liam’s broken relationship.
Matt told NME: “Noel said everyone is always coming up to them giving them advice about how they are going to mend this relationship.
“He’s friends with Chris Martin and he said Chris should quit the music business and become a therapist because every week he goes ‘Look this is how you are going to patch up the band’.
“Noel said, ‘Look no one knows like we know each other and it will happen when it happens but we can’t force it’. Liam was like ‘He’s full of s**t’ and Noel’s like ‘He’s full of s**t’.”
Matt explained that an eye-watering offer of money could tempt Noel to reunite with his volatile younger brother.
He shared: “Noel said unless it was an obscene amount of money what would be the point in any of them getting back together. Liam is like ‘No f**k it we were great.’
“So I think they’ve still got it. They should go out and give it a go. I feel people out there want it so I hope they get it.”
Meanwhile, Noel performed on stage with Paul Weller during his headline set at Festival No 6 in Portmeirion, Wales, on Sunday night (04.09.16).
Noel invited the music icon on stage to perform The Jam songs ‘Pretty Green’ and ‘Town Called Malice’.

Bruno Mars set for album release

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruno Mars is to release his first album for four years in the coming months.
The ‘Uptown Funk’ singer’s third studio album – a follow up to 2012’s ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’ – has been in the works for the last year, but his long-term bass player Jamareo Artis has confirmed the record is to drop by the end of 2016 which will lead to a tour.
He said: “We’ve been working on it for about a year, trying different ideas and experimenting. I don’t know what’s going to be included in the final version, but it’s going to have a new sound, and so far the material is very groove-oriented.
“It’ll be out sometime this year, and then we’ll hit the road again.”
The 26-year-old bassist revealed Bruno regularly plays the piano when he is on the phone to him to gauge his opinion on a song, but admitted he finds it “challenging” when the superstar singer asks him to play a random tune on the spot.
Speaking to Bass Player magazine, he added: “Bruno will call me up and play some piano over the phone to see what I think of his ideas, and he’ll ask where he should go from there.
“Or I’ll go into the studio and he’ll have basic parts that he wants me to jam out on and do my thing. Most challenging is when he has me start a song out of nowhere, in any key with any groove or vibe.
“He’ll say to me, ‘Hey Jam, I need ‘Billie Jean’.’ That’s a lot of pressure, you know? You don’t just come up with ‘Billie Jean’ off the top of your head.
“All you can do is play what you’re feeling in that moment and hope it works. But Bruno knows how to make a hit, so if the part works for him, I know I’m in good hands.”
Last month, Bruno, 30, was said to be in talks over a Las Vegas residency for which he could earn a huge £750,000 per show.

Bjork's 'character' albums

OHMYGOSSIP — Björk says each of her albums is a “character” and she is a “private investigator” trying to work them out.
The 50-year-old singer has explained the thinking behind her eight studio albums, admitting she feels like a sleuth who has to piece together what each of her records means.
Writing on Reddit, the ‘It’s Oh So Quiet’ singer said: “i find it with each album there is a character and ive kinda been joking that they are like tarot characters and im like a private investigator throughout the album working it out. each character always has colours, elements, symbolism, moods and an emotional journey they go through. the older i get i feel i am better with connecting it all things archetypal and therefore hopefully more universal and relatable. (sic).”
The musician – who has two children, 30-year-old Sindri, and Ísadóra, 13 – also admitted she tries not to “force” creativity.
She said: “Perhaps the trick is not to force it and put it up against a wall and want it to be in a particular area, but rather with a lot of kindness sniff it out and wonder where it has gone to this time around.”
Elsewhere in the online Q&A, Björk – who’s latest album ‘Vulnicura’ was released in 2015 – opened up about her childhood and said growing up in Iceland helped her become more independent.
She said: “I prob was lucky because as a teenager in Reykjavik nothing was going on. So we kinda had to make it up ourselves and release it ourselves. So when I have been introduced to restricting claustrophobic routes, I’ve kinda just ignored them because knew they weren’t true. (sic).”

Jame Bay records duet with KT Tunstall

OHMYGOSSIP — James Bay has recorded a duet with KT Tunstall called ‘Two Way’.
The 26-year-old singer/songwriter and ‘Suddenly I See’ hitmaker – who first met on Jools Holland’s’ live Christmas show in December – recorded the track in Los Angeles after KT found out the ‘Craving’ singer is a huge fan and her “stalker”.
The 41-year-old star – who is gearing up to release her sixth studio LP ‘KIN’ on September 9 – revealed: “We met doing Jools Holland’s Hootenanny, and he knocked it out the park and blew me away.
“I knew he was a fan of my stuff and that was flattering.
“But it turned out he’d been to my gigs. I had no idea, but he was telling me all these shows of mine he’d been to.
“So I thought he would be perfect for a duet I had called ‘Two Way’ – It’s a seventies-rock-classic bit of songwriting.
“His stalking paid off, It’s all part of his master plan, to stalk.
“We spent a lovely day in LA, he could have done it in one but we recorded three.
“He’s an incredible musician, a phenomenal guitar player really natural and knowledgeable.”
Meanwhile, the Scottish star joked that you should be “wary” of a man who wears a hat, however, she assured fans that James did wear his signature black troubadour while recording on the song.
KT also said that her fans were very impressed with the fact she’s worked with the ‘Hold Back The River’ musician.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: “My fans are over the moon especially the ladies – and I can reveal James recorded with his hat on. I can tell you his hair is not attached to his hat – always be wary of a man who always wears a hat.”
