Lil Wayne releases new track

OHMYGOSSIP — Lil Wayne isn’t retired – and has released new music.
The 33-year-old rap star recently suggested he was set to quit the music industry amid an ongoing feud with the Cash Money record label – but has now released a new record, entitled ‘Grateful’, in a bid to clarify the situation.
On the new track – which references his relationship with Birdman, the co-founder of the label – Wayne says: “You don’t see Stunna right next to me/And I won’t see Stunna write cheques to me/They can’t put no more Weezy baby out/That’s that Cash Money vasectomy.”
Later, he adds: “Tell the press I’m not depressed/I just had to press reset.”
‘Grateful’ comes shortly after Wayne hinted he was poised to turn his back on rap music in light of his disagreements with Cash Money, his former record label.
He tweeted: “I AM NOW DEFENSELESS AND mentally DEFEATED & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I’m dun (sic)”
The statement prompted messages of support from Wayne’s fans and fellow musicians, such as Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
At the time, it was widely assumed that the Twitter post meant he would no longer make music.
That, however, is clearly not going to be the case after Wayne released ‘Grateful’ exclusively on Tidal.
Wayne has previously spoken about having an ambition to retire by the time he is 35 in order to spend more time with his family.
But it does not appear he will quit the music business any time soon following his new release.

James Arthur: 'Quitting drugs helped my music'

OHMYGOSSIP — Quitting drugs helped James Arthur “gain some perspective” in his music.
The former ‘X Factor’ winner went on a destructive downward spiral after finding fame on the reality TV show and a dependence on marijuana and prescription pills led to James hitting rock bottom.
He explained to The Sun: “My lowest moment was when I was going to bed, I’d take 15 pre-rolled joints and smoke one after the other, popping anti-depressants. My head was an absolute mess.”
However, he is now clean and believes that the music he has written for his new album, ‘Back From The Edge’, is some of his best work.
James said: “Quitting drugs has helped me gain some perspective. I don’t recognise that artist in my first album.
“A couple of songs are great, but I was writing for other people then.
“I was trying to write a hit, trying to be the best ‘X Factor’ winner ever – they weren’t honest songs as you didn’t hear any of my character.
“This one, there’s loads of me in it.
There is a bit of self-indulgence as I had to tell my story. People will relate to it and the message is hope, love and respect – to like yourself.”
James has come a long way from the depths of despair after ‘X Factor’ and he admitted he considered suicide in the past.
He said: “I genuinely was at the end of my tether. I’d never been a guy who suffers from suicidal tendencies but I had taken all I could take from life.
“I thought that was my chance and I’d ruined it. You never see an ‘X Factor’ winner make a comeback. It doesn’t happen.”

Taylor Swift working on new music

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift is working on new music.
Just days after the star – who is renowned for writing songs inspired by her love life – split from Tom Hiddleston, her close pal Gigi Hadid revealed Taylor, 26, is back in the studio.
Speaking at her Tommy x Gigi show at New York Fashion Week on Friday (09.09.16), which Taylor attended, Gigi told Entertainment Tonight: “She’s obviously such a great friend, and you know she is starting to go back to work in the studio again, and really made time to be here for me, and I am so grateful for that.”
Taylor’s last album ‘1989’ was released in 2014 and is widely believed to contain songs about her brief relationship with One Direction singer Harry Styles, 22.
Since then she has dated Calvin Harris, 32, for over a year and enjoyed a brief romance with Tom, 35, which ended this week.
And it was recently claimed that Taylor’s close pal Selena Gomez advised the star to put her energy into working on a new record after the split.
A source told HollywoodLife.com: “When Taylor told Selena about the breakup, the first thing Selena advised Taylor to do was slow down. Selena has known about the Taylor and Tom split for a while.
“Selena’s advice was to take a break from men and to spend some time enjoying being single.”
Selena told Taylor to “focus her energy in the studio, and drop a new album before another boyfriend pops up”.

Fazer making comeback

OHMYGOSSIP — Fazer is making a return to music.
The N-Dubz star is to make his first-ever appearance as a featured artist on Thomas Teago’s upcoming single ‘Lights Down Low’, and couldn’t resist the collaboration because the “chemistry” with the singer was “just right” and he’s incredibly excited about the track.
He said: “This is a world first for me. ‘Lights Down Low’ is my first ever single as a featured artist because this is the first ever track by another artist that I’m really excited about.
“I’ve been approached many times in the past to feature on tracks, but I’ve always turned them down. But with Thomas Teago and ‘Lights Down Low’ the chemistry was just right, I had to be part of this track.
“Our collaboration fuses Thomas’ distinctive vocals with a dash of Fazer personality – it’s a perfect combination.”
Meanwhile, up-and-coming star Thomas – who wrote the pop/dance track – always had Fazer in mind for the song and has found the musician, writer, and producer very helpful with his own growing career.
He said: “I wrote this track with Fazer in mind, having him on this track instantly lifts the song to another level. He’s mad talented, has lots of experience, gives lots of advice and I couldn’t be happier having him on this release.”
The track is Fazer’s first new music since he released ‘Fireflies’, under his real name Richard Rawson, in 2014.
‘Lights Down Low’ is released on SouthShaw Records on November 4. For more information visit www.thomasteago.com,

Britney Spears won't listen to her own music

OHMYGOSSIP — Britney Spears won’t listen to her own music.
The ‘Make Me’ hitmaker tries to never playback her own songs but relies on her sons – Sean, 10, and Jayden, nine – and her nieces to give her their verdict.
She told Flaunt magazine: “It’s funny, because I don’t really listen to my music. My kids do and my nieces do. I’m about the creative process. I’m in the moment of being creative and then I put it out there. Of course, I sing my songs every night [at my residency] and I have to listen to it that way, but I’m all about change. And new. And forthcoming.
“But, there is a part of me in my music and I hope, for my fans, that they can have that part of me when they hear me on the radio, or buy my CD, or whatever they do.”
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old singer previously revealed her new album is “very chill.”
She said: “It’s very exciting. I’ve been working on this project for a year and a half now, almost two years so it really means a lot to me. It’s my baby.
“It’s a little melodic, a little more not so poppy. It’s kind of chill. Very chill. I’m old school. I like classic rock. I like the Rolling Stones. The Lumineers are really cool. Sade is nice. I like 80s music, too.”
And Britney recently described her new music as like a “baby” to her.
She added: “I just know that the direction I’m going in is so good. It’s the best thing I’ve done in a long time. I’m just particular with this record – it’s my baby. I’m proud of the work, and it’s very different.
“It’s not what you would think at all. I’m not rushing anything. I would much rather have it be completely how I want it to be. I just want it to be done right so that my fans will truly appreciate it.”

Lady Gaga duets with Florence Welch on new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga has recorded a track with Florence Welch on her new album.
The 30-year-old singer penned a song for her as-yet untitled LP and when she decided she wanted another female vocalist to join her over the music she couldn’t think of anyone more perfect than Florence, also 30.
Speaking to Nick Grimshaw on UK station BBC Radio 1, the ‘Poker Face’ hitmaker said: “There’s a feature on the album that I think you will be very excited about. Me and Florence Welch did a duet together. I started to work on an idea for a song that I really wanted to do with a girl. You’ll see why when you see what the song is about. I just thought, ‘Who do I want to sing with?’ She’s really to me, if not the best, one of the greatest vocalists in the world. She’s incredible.”
The new album is Gaga’s first on her own since 2013’s ‘Artpop’ and follows ‘Cheek to Cheek’, the collaborative record she released in 2014 with Tony Bennett.
Gaga appeared on the show to unveil her new single ‘Perfect Illusion’ and revealed the lyrics on the track deal with the pressures of social media and the “many fake things” in the world.
Speaking about the track, she said: “People feel pressured to live up to that perfect illusion in their real lives. This is about accepting that and letting go. I’m not saying not to use your phone, I’m not that crazy. I think social media is great. But there’s also a lot of things that are on the internet that aren’t reality … So this song is about raging against it and letting it go. It’s about wanting people to re-establish that human connection.”
Gaga also revealed she composed ‘Perfect Illusion’ with producer Mark Ronson and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker and she wrote it on an old fashioned typewriter.
She spilled: “Kevin flew to us from Australia and he came with this idea, that was the beginning of a song called Illusion. I work on a typewriter and we would bounce new lyrics back and forth.
“We stripped everything away. Changed the melody, shifted it. I sat at piano, Kevin was on guitar, Mark was on the bass.”

Busted announce new LP Night Driver

OHMYGOSSIP — Busted have announced their first album in 13 years.
The pop rock trio – comprised of Charlie Simpson, Matt Willis and James Bourne – will release ‘Night Driver’ on November 11 and have teased that it will be unlike their previous material because they feel the old songs “belong to that time”.
Guitarist James said: “The last thing we wanted to do was try to recreate what we used to have.
“It belongs to that time. All real artists evolve, all real artists try things, it’s unnatural not to.”
And frontman Charlie – who quit the rock/pop group in 2005 and previously vowed never to return – added that the album is a “reflection” of themselves now.
He said: “On this record, we’re older, we’ve had completely different experiences than what we’d have been talking about ten years ago. It’s an authentic reflection of who we are today.”
Matt, James and Charlie recently confirmed that, following the success of their current ‘Pigs Can Fly’ arena tour, they are “elated” to be starting a “new chapter” as a band and will be releasing new music after striking up a deal through Warner Music.
Bassist Matt, 33, said: “We wrote some awesome songs together and now Busted are back! The three of us went into the studio with no preconceptions, and were so elated with the results that we wanted to start a new chapter of our band!
“We are having an incredible time on our arena tour and are now looking forward to releasing new music through a global partnership with East West. It’s great to see Dan, Howard and the team as excited about the new music as we are.”
Matt believes the new tracks are the best they’ve ever done and that fans may be “shocked” at first because the style is very different to their previous offerings like ‘Year 3000’ and ‘What I Go To School For’.
He said: “It’s the best s**t we’ve ever done by ten times. The first single is f***ing ridiculous. I’m more proud of our first single than anything I’ve ever done in my life. It is the most epic song, it’s ridiculous.
“I think people are going to be a bit shocked but it’s what we wanted. It wasn’t on purpose, we just started working and ended up writing these certain style of songs, in a certain type of way and it all happened.”
Busted have been playing two new songs ‘Coming Home’ and ‘Easy’, both featured on the record, at their shows including their May comeback tour and a debut performance at Isle of Wight Festival in June.
The record is the follow-up to 2003’s ‘A Present for Everyone’
‘Night Driver’ tracklisting:
‘Coming Home’
‘Night Driver’
‘On What You’re On’
‘New York’
‘Thinking Of You’
‘Without It’
‘One Of A Kind’
‘I Will Break Your Heart’
‘Kids With Computers’
‘Easy’
‘Out Of Our Minds’
‘Those Days Are Gone’

Kings of Leon on being more than 'business partners' now

OHMYGOSSIP — Kings of Leon have admitted they were too “business-minded” at their peak.
The ‘Sex on Fire’ hitmakers’ frontman Caleb Followill says relations between the band members – made up of his brothers Jared and Nathan and their cousin Matthew Followill – broke down because they became too focused on making money.
Speaking in the new issue of NME magazine, Caleb admitted: “There were a lot of moments when we weren’t talking. It was ‘Man, we’ve become business partners. We haven’t maintained our friendship and our brotherhood, everything that we are.
“After a while, it’s not ‘I’m going to do an interview with my brother’, it’s ‘I’m going to do an interview with the drummer’. When you get together, it’s never ‘We are the band’. We lost that.”
Bass player Jared also admitted that paying for each band member to have separate transport to and from gigs impacted on their relationship.
The 29-year-old rocker said: “We’d only see each other for the hour-and-a-half before a show. We went too far in the other direction. If you’re going to be friends and family, you can’t really be a band, or we can’t be this band.”
The indie group – who are gearing up to release their eagerly-anticipated LP ‘WALLS’, which drops on October 14 – also felt like their last record, 2013’s ‘Mechanical Bull’, wasn’t their best because they were too much in their “comfort zone”.
Jared said: “We were definitely going for it and trying really hard, but we got into a comfort zone. We’ve tried to peel that away on this album, by not using the same producer and doing it in our studio. We were really challenging ourselves, doing things where we were scratching our heads going ‘Holy s***, is this right? Is this wrong?'”

Izzy Stradlin: Guns N' Roses wouldn't split the loot

OHMYGOSSIP — Izzy Stradlin didn’t rejoin Guns N’ Roses for their current tour because they won’t share the money “equally”.
The 54-year-old former guitiarist – who left the band in 1991 after six years – won’t come out on the road with them because he claims the group fronted by Axl Rose weren’t willing to pay him the same figure as everyone else.
Taking to Twitter on Thursday (08.09.16), he wrote: “Bull****. They didn’t want to split the loot equally. Simple as that. Moving right along…(sic)”
It comes after ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ singer Axl Rose, also 54, recently admitted he had “no idea” why his old bandmate didn’t join him, Slash and Duff McKagan.
He said: “I don’t really know what to say about Izzy. It’s like you could have a conversation and think it’s one way, and the next day it’s another way. And I’m not trying to take any shots at Izzy. It’s just his thing is kind of his thing, whatever that is.”
The original line up – which consisted of Izzy and Axl, joined by Slash, Duff and Steven Adler – is also notably missing 51-year-old drummer Steven, who has played sparingly on tour due to injury.
Axl said: “I have no idea. When this started, Steven had just had back surgery and stuff, so I don’t have any idea about that.”
With Izzy absent from the line up of the ‘Paradise City’ hitmakers, Richard Fortus, 49, has been filling in on guitar. Frank Ferrer, who has been a member of the band since 2006, is on drums in the absence of Steven.
The continued lack of support from Izzy comes after the manager of the ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ musicians confirmed their tour would extend into 2017.
Speaking previously, he said: “I’ve been told there is no end date. I’ve seen plenty of date going into next year, far into next year.
“Everybody’s working together to keep a common goal and common direction – keep the machine going.”

Motley Crue sued over images on merchandise

OHMYGOSSIP — Motley Crue are being sued over the rights to the images used on their merchandise.
Photographers Barry Levine and Neil Zlozower claim the images, which were sold on the defunct heavy metal band’s t-shirts for their Farewell Tour, are those they took of the band in the 1980s.
According to Xpose, Levine and Zlozower hadn’t given the ‘Girls Girls Girls’ hitmakers permission to use their pictures, which were printed on several items and have been on sale from 2014 when the run of shows began.
The pair are allegedly suing the band – comprised of Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil and Mick Mars – and are demanding a portion of the profits they make from their merchandise.
A representative for Motley Crue is yet to the comment.
It comes a month after the band’s frontman Vince, 55, was charged with battery for attacking an autograph hunter.
The ‘Home Sweet Home’ singer is accused of lashing out at a woman on April 7, grabbing her by the hair and pulling her to the ground, but he has insisted he simply “pushed past” her.
However, sources told TMZ police have surveillance video showing he manhandled the alleged victim.
The 55-year-old rocker could face six months in jail if found guilty of misdemanour battery.
Meanwhile, the alleged incident sparked a row between Vince and his friend Nicolas Cage.
After the altercation, the pair – who had been having lunch together – walked out of the Aria hotel, and the actor could be seen trying to calm down his pal.
The 52-year-old rocker was heard shouting: “Stop this s**t now”, before trying to restrain Vince.
He then soothed him, saying: “You’re OK, I love you.”
It was previously reported that the woman – who had approached the ‘Face/Off’ star for an autograph – had been “left stunned, and suffered a sore neck … as well as pain in her lower back and hip” after Vince allegedly grabbed her by the hair from behind and pulled her to the ground.

James Dean Bradfield: I don't regret Britpop

OHMYGOSSIP — James Dean Bradfield has “no regrets” about the Britpop era.
The 47-year-old musician reflected on the era – a musical and cultural movement most prominent in the mid 1990s – as he celebrated 20 years since his band, Manic Street Preachers, descended on a field in Knebworth to support Oasis, alongside other big names such as The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, and The Charlatans.
He said: “[I have] no f***ing regrets about that time whatsoever. I never understood when bands came out the other end of Britpop and said, ‘Oh, it was such a tiresome time – we got pigeonholed into something. We got coerced into something that wasn’t us’. It’s like, yeah, but you were selling 500,000 records you d***wad! And then you never sold anything close to that ever again after Britpop, so stop f***ing moaning!”
The ‘A Design For Life’ hitmaker also discussed the band’s upcoming 13th studio album – which is yet to have a name or release date – saying that although getting former Smiths frontman Morrissey involved would be “beyond a dream”, it wasn’t something he could see happening.
Speaking to Digital Spy, he said: “If [we] did ask Moz [Morrissey] inevitably there would be a rejection. But that would be beyond the dream really because there’s not many people who sing like him. I don’t want to sound too muso but his choice of notes are just so f***ing different to anybody else’s. His phrasing is different to anybody else’s. His voice would transform any band. But I don’t think we’re ever going to ask, because like I said, it would just be like that school disco moment – you know the girl’s going to say no.”

Kanye West confirms Drake collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — Kanye West has confirmed he is collaborating with Drake.
The 39-year-old music mogul teased the team up with the 29-year-old rapper last month when a billboard was put up in Los Angeles showing Kanye’s GOOD Music record label logo with Drake’s OVO emblem and now the ‘Gold Digger’ hitmaker has finally confirmed suspicions they are working together.
He told Vogue magazine: “We’re just working on music, working on a bunch of music together, just having fun going into the studio. We’re working on an album, so there’s some exciting things coming up soon.”
The ‘Famous’ rapper held off on giving any more information on the potential collaborative album but it wouldn’t be the first time the rap stars have worked together. Drake helped co-write ’30 Hours’ from Kanye’s ‘Life of Pablo’ album, and Kanye lent his vocals to the original version of ‘Pop Style’ – alongside Jay-Z – from Drake’s album ‘Views’. Both rappers have also done collaborative albums in the past, with Kanye working with Jay-Z on ‘Watch The Throne’ and Drake teaming up with Future for ‘What a Time to Be Alive’.
Meanwhile, during a surprise appearance during Drake’s set at Canada’s OVO Festival in early August, Kanye once again teased the possibility of a collaboration.
He asked the crowd: “Toronto, I got one question for you.Is y’all ready for this album? Now, I’m not talking about ‘Pablo’. I wasn’t talking about ‘Views’. I wanna ask y’all right now, y’all ready for this album?”
Whilst Drake added: “What my brother was asking before was, are you ready if we make an album? That’s what he was asking.”

Clean Bandit's Jack protects his laptop

OHMYGOSSIP — Clean Bandit’s Jack Patterson is paranoid about losing his laptop because it has so much music saved on it.
The 28-year-old songwriter has been busy working on his band’s new album – the follow-up to 2014 smash hit ‘New Eyes’ – and has all of the fresh tracks on his portable computer.
Jack also has the songs he is working on with other artists and the raw footage from Clean Bandit’s videos so he makes sure he knows where the laptop is at all times.
Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, he said: “My laptop has so much of our stuff on there. I also have this big bin bag full of hard drives. I have to have it near me.”
Jack almost lost his digitised archive once but luckily he was able to save his music and videos with the help of an unlikely hero.
He revealed: “We make all our own music videos so I have all the raw footage from them. We did have a disaster once though. We were editing one of the videos and my laptop died.
“I freaked out and sent it to a data recovery place, paid a load of money and they said there was nothing we could do. It had gone.
“I then found this guy around the corner from our flat in London. He had this tiny workshop, he took it apart and managed to recover the whole lot. I’ve been so careful ever since.”
Jack and his bandmates – brother Luke Patterson, Grace Chatto and Neil Amin-Smith – so far have “30 to 40” tracks completed for their next LP but they are struggling to settle on a final tracklist.
Although Clean Bandit are working hard to finish their record, they are still finding the time to have breaks from their hectic recording schedule.
Grace said: “I went to a friend’s 30th birthday in a castle in Yorkshire recently. We actually get more days off now than when we started.
“Four years ago we never had any time off because we were constantly trying to get the music out there. There’s now more structure to what we do.”

Fatboy Slim: Adele was a gracious neighbour

OHMYGOSSIP — Fatboy Slim says Adele was a “perfect and gracious neighbour”.
The DJ-and-producer – real name Norman Cook – and his wife Zoe Ball lived nearby the ‘Hello’ singer in Brighton and got on well with her and her partner Simon Konecki.
Norman and Zoe joined Adele for coffee at her home and he has nothing but nice things to say about the singing superstar and he is sad that she has now moved out of the English seaside city.
In a web Q&A with The Guardian website, he said: “She was a perfect and gracious neighbour, though sadly has recently sold up down here.”
The ‘Right Here, Right Now’ hitmaker is still busy performing gigs around the world and is one of the most in-demand DJs in the world.
However, at 53, Norman can see a time in the future when he will stop spinning records but he plans to carry on performing and making music for as long as it is feasible to do so.
He was asked if he thinks “there is an age when DJs are just too old to do it? What age would that be?”
To which he answered: “I think there is, and I aim to find out exactly what it is. I will tell you as soon as I hit it, I hope…”
Adele sold her townhouse in Brighton in August and now plans to spend more time with her family, Simon and their three-year-old son Angelo, in Los Angeles where she owns a 6,500-square-foot home in the gated and guarded community of Hidden Valley in Beverly Hills.
A source previously said: “Adele spent a lot of time in Brighton with Simon and their son but she’s moving on.
“She has fallen in love with LA and will be spending a lot more of her time out in the States. She still has a number of properties in London so she will always have a home in England.”
