Busted unveil lead single from Night Driver

OHMYGOSSIP — Busted have dropped lead single ‘On What You’re On’ from their new LP ‘Night Driver’.
The reunited pop rock trio – comprised of Charlie Simpson, James Bourne and Matt Willis – teamed up with Charli XCX producer Alex Metric for the track, which features on their first record in 13 years.
Of the song, frontman Charlie said, “We can’t wait for people to hear this song and be able to share what we have been working so hard on for the past twelve months.”
The 31-year-old star – who quit the rock/pop group in 2005 and previously vowed never to return – previously said that the album is a “reflection” of themselves now.
He said: “On this record, we’re older, we’ve had completely different experiences than what we’d have been talking about ten years ago. It’s an authentic reflection of who we are today.”
While guitarist James recently admitted they were “worried” it would come across “too throwback”.
He said: “I’m actually pleasantly surprised to hear you say it sounds current, because I was worried it sounded too throwback.”
The ‘Coming Home’ band have also shared how they were influenced by chart-topping electronic producers Skrillex and Diplo for the new LP.
Charlie said: “We’ve all been talking about loving stuff that Skrillex and Diplo and what those guys have been doing, but it wasn’t really like, ‘Oh we want to sound like that’. Maybe that’s what makes it sound like it’s modern because we’ve taken influences from stuff that isn’t what we used to be like, but what we enjoy listening to.”
The trio’s next record will see them ditch the guitars and head in an electronic direction.
‘Nigh Driver’ is out on November 11.
Night Driver track-listing:
1. Coming Home
2. Night Driver
3. On What You’re On
4. New York
5. Thinking Of You
6. Without It
7. One Of A Kind

Robbie Williams censors Russain-themed comeback single

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams had to censor his comeback single which pokes fun at Russian president Vladimir Putin.
The 42-year-old pop star has released ‘Party Like A Russian’ and revealed he removed a lot of the lyrics so he wouldn’t upset the people of the Eastern European country.
He said: “I had my chisel and whittle at the lyrics.
“There’s 147 million people in Russia and I don’t want to upset them in any way and I don’t know what kind of sense of humour they’ve got
“I’m not making fun of anybody but I had to take a few things out just to make it more PC – and this is the PC version you’re getting.”
On the track, he sings: “It takes a certain kind of man with a certain reputation to alleviate the cash from a whole entire nation, take my loose change and build my own space station.”
When asked if he thinks the 63-year-old politician will come after him for the song, he said he doubts he will because it’s a tongue-in-cheek song, which just pokes funny at Russian’s being party animals.
He replied: “I doubt that very much. I hope not. I think the of the record is saying party like a Russian. And we as Brits or you as a New Zealander think that we party really hard.
“I can assure you we’re nothing compared to the Russians who are ridiculously good partiers.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Rock DJ’ hitmaker said he thinks there should be more artists like former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher making “pop with dysfunction”.
He told The Sun newspaper: “There doesn’t seem to be a lot of personality out there.
“There should be a Liam Gallagher making music and being dangerous.
“Everyone seems to be politicking and sticking to scripts.
“We seem to be getting Olympic-scale pop stars.
“They’re great too and a sight to behold, but I like my pop with dysfunction.”
‘Party Like A Russian’ is from Robbie’s 11th studio LP ‘Heavy Entertainment Show’, which is out on November 4.

Metallica don't always get on

OHMYGOSSIP — Metallica have admitted they sometimes “hate” one another.
The rockers will release their first album for eight years, ‘Hardwired… To Self-Destruct’ in November, and they admit one of the reasons for the delay has been “communication” issues.
Singer James Hetfield explained: “Anything worthwhile takes work. You know, a marriage is tough enough but being married to three other guys in a band for 30-odd years?
“We’re guys and we all have our own agenda – and we can be cynical about each other’s agendas. We’re creative, too, so we make up tons of stuff in our heads if we don’t communicate. So communication is pretty huge.
“We love each other and we hate each other and sometimes it’s really easy, sometimes it’s really hard but it’s always worth it.”
Though they may have been together for 35 years, the ‘Enter Sandman’ hitmakers have no plans to retire any time soon.
Guitarist Kirk Hammett told BBC 6 Music’s Matt Everett: “It doesn’t feel like we’re in the twilight of our career.
“From what I can gather, collectively, we still have a lot to say, music that we want to create and everything that comes in the wake of that. If I was just to stop now it would it would feel like coitus interruptus or something. I’m not finished yet!”
However, the group – which also includes Lars Ulrich and Robert Trujillo – do admit they are “blown away” by the fact they are still together and have a strong fan base.
James said: “We’re still blown away by the fact we’re still going, and that people like what we do. That’s bizarre to me!”

Barry Gibb: 'It was time to start writing again'

OHMYGOSSIP — Barry Gibb admits it was time to “get off his backside” and start writing music again.
The sole surviving member of the Bee Gees – whose youngest sibling Andy died in 1988 aged 30, while twin siblings Maurice and Robin passed away in 2003 and 2012 respectively – wasn’t sure if he could make it as a solo artist again after losing his siblings but says the time was right to try.
He said: “”I didn’t really retire. I kept talking about it and thinking it was all over.
“I feel energised. I needed to get off my backside and I’ve always needed to write and play music.
“I’ve been writing music since I was eight years old – they were pretty bad songs then but, as time moved on, I got better…”
So he wrote ‘In The Now’, his first solo album in 32 years, and it is another family affair as he made it with his sons Stephen and Ashley.
He told The Sun newspaper: “Working with my sons is not unlike with Maurice and Robin – though they are quite different types of people. Stephen is very heavy metal and a gentle giant whereas Ashley is very analytical and very concerned with everything we do and every lyric. In that way Ashley is like me, a little intense.
“But they are great and I love them both. And my daughter Ali is involved in publishing and licensing I just want the Bee Gees’ music to end up in a good place where they are looked after and presented in a big and bright way.”
And he’s certainly making the most of his return to music, saying: “It’s just wonderful to have this chance again. Everyone has been so positive and I try to seize every moment in life. And that’s what making this album has allowed me to do.”

Niall Horan's album set for 2017

OHMYGOSSIP — Niall Horan won’t release an album until “early summer” next year.
The One Direction singer shocked fans when he released debut solo single ‘This Town’ without warning on Thursday (29.09.16), but he has admitted it is the only track he’s completely finished.
Asked when fans can expect an album, he said: “I wouldn’t say it was this year, his is probably the only song that’s fully finished. I’ve been writing songs but I’ll turn them into tracks later on so I still have to record the guitars and the drums, that sort of thing.
“It’s still early doors, but you can expect something, probably like end of spring, early summer next year.”
The 23-year-old star admitted he had always intended to spring the tracks on his fans as the lead-up to a release can be “boring”.
Speaking to Capital FM DJ Roman Kemp, he said: ” I wanted to do it this way, I didn’t want marketing plans or teasers, it just gets a bit boring after a while. So I was like, alright let’s just drop it and get the reaction.”
And Niall was very excited to hear the song on the radio for the first time, admitting it reminded him of when One Direction released their debut single.
He said: “Today reminded me of when we first released ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ – hearing the song on the radio for the first time was incredible.”
While Niall and his bandmates, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, and Liam Payne are currently busy with their own projects, he insists One Direction will “definitely” get back together eventually.
He said “Basically for the foreseeable we’re doing our own thing, we still keep in touch all the time, it’s very much still there. There’s no doubt about it, I don’t know when, it could be a year, it could be two, but it’ll definitely happen.”

Sia to release new music

OHMYGOSSIP — Sia is planning to release seven new tracks later this year.
The 40-year-old singer has announced that she’s making a Deluxe Edition of her ‘This Is Acting’ album and is keen to add her recent single ‘The Greatest’, which features Kendrick Lamar, and three previously unheard songs called ‘Confetti’, ‘Jesus Wept’ and ‘Midnight Decisions’ to the listing.
Sia – who is known for disguising her face behind her signature blonde wig – dropped ‘This Is Acting’ in January and it has so far climbed to number three in the UK charts.
The ‘Chandelier’ hitmaker revealed ahead of its release earlier this year that the album features songs that she’d written for other artists but they’d been rejected.
She said at the time: “I’m calling it ‘This Is Acting’ because they are songs I was writing for other people.
“I didn’t go in thinking ‘this is something I would say’. It’s more like play-acting. It’s fun.”
Meanwhile, Sia recently admitted doesn’t enjoy being in the spotlight because it has a negative impact on her self-esteem.
She said: “It literally f**ks with my sanity. I stop feeling authentic because I’m trying to find ways to say the same thing differently. And after a while, you can’t. It becomes bad for my self-esteem.
“People say, ‘Enough of this s**t where she doesn’t show her face’…I’m trying to do this differently, for serenity. And it’s a fun game for me as well. I have nothing to lose.
“But of course I want to be loved. So when people say, ‘Show your face, you’re not ugly.’ I want to say, ‘I know. I’m not doing it because I think I’m ugly; I’m trying to have some control over my image. And I’m allowed to maintain some modicum of privacy. But also I would like not to be picked apart or for people to observe when I put on ten pounds or take off ten pounds or I have a hair extension out of place or my fake tan is botched. Most people don’t have to be under that pressure, and I’d like to be one of them.”

Benedict Cumberbatch joins David Gilmour on stage

OHMYGOSSIP — Benedict Cumberbatch joined David Gilmour on stage to sing ‘Comfortably Numb’ on Wednesday night (28.09.16).
The 70-year-old musician was playing the third of his five-night residency at London’s Royal Albert Hall and performed a rendition of the iconic Pink Floyd song from the band’s 1979 album ‘The Wall’ with the ‘Sherlock’ star.
The track was originally sung by former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters – who left the band in 1985 – and although David has included the track in his solo sets since the band ended in 1994, he often recruits a guest vocalist to perform with him.
Aside from the 40-year-old actor, David Bowie has been among the vocalists to perform the track with Gilmour, as he stepped up to take part during a performance at the same venue in 2006.
And the ‘Star Trek: Into Darkness’ actor is no stranger to music, as he previously sang ‘Can’t Keep It Inside’ for his film ‘August: Osage County’ in 2013, and is a regular attendee of gigs in London when he isn’t filming.
The pair were introduced by mutual friends, and Benedict has said he was “only too happy” to accept the challenge of singing with David, when the veteran rocker approached him about the subject.
Many famous faces were in attendance for the show, with some taking to Twitter to express their excitement at the collaboration.
Gary Kemp of Spandau Ballet tweeted: “At the David Gilmour gig. If anyone needs me I’m in Heaven. (sic)”
Richard E. Grant shared a photo of himself and Benedict smiling, with the caption: “With Bruce&Sophie Robinson, Benedict Cumberbatch & pair of wandering hands at Dave Gilmour’s Albert Hall concert. (sic)”

The album, entitled ‘Before The Dawn’, will mark the star’s first release since 2011’s ’50 Words for Snow’.
The compilation is billed as a triple album, with each one marking different sections of the run of concerts she performed.
‘Act One’ consists of a seven song set of hits from throughout Kate’s career including tracks such as ‘Hounds of Love’ and ‘Running Up That Hill’.

It will also feature ‘Never Be Mine’, a track which Kate didn’t actually perform at any of her Hammersmith Apollo dates.
It is thought that the recording of this track came from her rehearsals leading up to the shows and was originally featured on the 1989 album ‘The Sensual World’.

Liam Gallagher might 'f*** off forever' if his solo LP flops

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher says he might “f*** off forever” if his solo album doesn’t do well.
The 43-year-old rocker recently landed a major deal with Warner Bros UK to release a record in 2017, and when quizzed on whether he would like to get back together with Oasis, the band’s former frontman said he would like to see it happen because aside from making his own record he has nothing else on his schedule.
However, if his own album is a flop commercially, the former Beady Eye frontman says he may call time on his music career altogether, but if it is a success he will hit the studio to make another one.
Asked if there is a chance of him reforming Oasis with his bitter rival and brother Noel, 49 – who walked out on the group following a massive bust-up with Liam on stage in August 2009 – he said: “As long as you’re still breathing there’s always a chance. Obviously I’d like to do it ‘Cos there’s a f*** all else to do. In the meantime a solo record will have to do.
“I’ve done the Beady Eye thing and that didn’t come off and I thought maybe I’ll just have a break, but I wrote these songs, and I thought, what else can I do? This album if it does well we crack on and do another one.
“If it doesn’t [laughs] I don’t know what I’ll do. I probably will f*** off forever but we’ll see.”
The ‘Live Forever’ singer was speaking in promotion of the forthcoming Oasis documentary, ‘Supersonic’, and said watching it back was “emotional” and he was glad it showed the funny side of his long-running feud with Noel.
In an interview with the Metro newspaper, he admitted: “A few bits were emotional, nothing I can’t handle. I’m glad they got the funny side out of it – a lot of people think we take ourselves seriously, but the other side of it can go to hell.”

Kanye West fan Bruce Springsteen

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruce Springsteen is a Kanye West fan.
The 66-year-old rocker admires the 39-year-old ‘Fade’ rapper for his creativity and has listed him among some of his favourite artists.
Speaking at Apple’s SoHo store in New York City on Wednesday (28.09.16), he said: “I like Kanye West.
“He makes great records. They are creative, amazing records.”
As for fellow rock bands, the ‘I’m on Fire’ hitmaker says fellow American punk rockers Green Day and his pals U2 are killing it by always being “consistently great”.
He added: “Green Day make great records. They are always thoughtful and intense. They play great together. My old friends U2 are playing just fine. They are consistently great.”
Bruce – whose last album was 2014’s ‘High Hopes’ – also revealed he has had a new album finished for some time.
However, he didn’t say when his fans can expect it.
He said: “It’s been done for a while and it’s pretty good, It’s kind of a solo record.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Hungry Heart’ singer, who is currently promoting his new memoir ‘Born to Run’, says he wanted to release the book so that people would learn what other artists and musicians inspire him.
He said: “I wanted to let people know what were the influences on my music. I wrote songs to figure out who I was.”
The tome also sees Bruce – who has three children with wife Patti Scialfa – open up about his battle with clinical depression, and he admitted that writing songs has always been like therapy for him.
He said: “As a child, it didn’t register. When I was a kid, it was a deep mystery. I think my music is the first thing that centered me. It was medicinal. … It rooted you.”
‘Born to Run’ the memoir is out now.

M.I.A. quits music

OHMYGOSSIP — M.I.A. is quitting music.
The ‘Paper Planes’ hitmaker is planning to step away from the studio for the time being following the release of her new album ‘AIM’, which she dropped earlier this month, because she wants to make sure she doesn’t fall into the trap of following everyone else in order to fit into a popular brand.
Speaking to NME magazine, she explained: “I just need time away from it. I don’t want to change how I think creatively, to brand myself into an acceptable brand.”
However, this isn’t the first time the 41-year-old rapper has announced she’s turning her back on music as it’s a phrase she’s thrown around constantly since her first album in 2005.
She said: “I’ve been saying this from the first album really. ‘Oh my God, ‘Arular’ [the first album], I quit!’ It’s just, as we go on and on in time, I feel like I’m in this really weird situation because I straddle three generations of music.
“I came through the britpop era. Then there was this turn-of-the-millennium era which I was part of, and then you’ve got this weird era where everything’s been corporatised to the max and you’re only allowed five, 10 pop star brands, who are as corporate as Sky. It just needs a little bit of rewriting.”
M.I.A. – whose real name is Mathangi ‘Maya’ Arulpragasam – got her big break just over a decade ago but she hasn’t always been riddled with luck, as she and her family were forced to flee war-stricken Sri Lanka with her family when she was nine years old and had to take refuge in London.
She explained: “If you’re coming from the war zone, you definitely got an issue. You have to adapt to a new place, you have to start new schools – every kid is going to go through all the things I went through.
“They’re gonna be in a council flat, they have to fill out the forms, sit in the waiting rooms, get housed, wait for your voucher for your school uniform.
“And you had to come up with how to make luncheon vouchers look cool because you’re the only kid that’s got them! It’s my experience I had in England, this weird fabric of communities I experienced, that are all part of my sound in the end.”

Robbie Williams drops Alan Carr from song

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams dropped his friend Alan Carr from his comeback single.
The 42-year-old singer had asked his presenter pal to record a line on ‘Heavy Entertainment Show’ – the lead single from his upcoming album of the same name – but decided at the last minute to replace him with a female vocalist instead.
A source said: “Alan and Robbie have been mates for years and Rob had this idea to get him to sing on the new record.
“The song is about light entertainment so he thought Alan would be perfect for it.
“Robbie invited him into the studio in London earlier this year to record his line and it was on the track.
“But at the last minute he made the decision to drop the recording and replace him with a girl’s voice.”
Luckily, the 40-year-old presenter – who had recorded the line, “He’ll give it all, and a little bit more”, for the song – isn’t going to hold a grudge about the snub.
The source added to The Sun newspaper: “Thankfully Alan took it all in good humour.”
While Alan might not feature on the record, a track written by Ed Sheeran does and Robbie recently revealed he begged the ‘Thinking Out Loud’ hitmaker to send him a “hit” to complete the LP.
He explained: “[I thought,] days are running out for the album, ‘Have I got enough hits? Are there enough hits? I’ve got Ed Sheeran’s email. I’ll send him an email and see what happens. One last hope.
“[I wrote,] ‘Dear Ed, Robbie Williams here. Do you have any spare hits?’ And he sent me this song about ‘Pretty Woman’. I added a chorus and I think the song is fully formed.”
The ‘Kids’ singer is thrilled that Ed agreed to give him the song as he thinks the flame-haired star is a “phenomena and “incredibly talented”.
He added: “I’m honoured that he said yes and I’m honoured that I get to be in Ed’s thoughts. You can’t not be a fan of Ed.
“He’s a phenomena. And also the nicest guy. He’s incredibly talented.”

Pete Doherty announces new solo LP

OHMYGOSSIP — Pete Doherty has announced his first solo album in seven years.
The 37-year-old singer is to release ‘Hamburg Demonstrations’ on December 2 and has already unveiled the lead single ‘I Don’t Love Anyone (But You’re Not Just Anyone)’.
He recorded and mixed the album with The Libertines and Babyshambles producer Johann Scheerer in the German city of Hamburg.
Pete moved there for six months to make the record after stumbling across Clouds Hill Recordings studio, which he fell in love with.
Among the songs on the tracklist is a brand new version of Pete’s tribute to the late singer and his close friend Amy Winehouse, ‘Flags Of The Old Regime’, which has now become ‘Flags From The Old Regime’.
Another track is ‘Hell To Pay At The Gates of Heaven’, which was inspired by the November 2015 Paris terrorist attacks and makes reference to the late Beatles legend John Lennon’s guitars.
On the song, Peter sings: “Come on boys choose your weapon J-45 or AK-47.”
It is fitting as the former drug addict will be the first act to perform at Le Bataclan, the venue in the French capital which was stormed by extremist gunmen, who killed 89 fans at an Eagles of Death Metal concert.
Pete, who toured the UK in May (including two sold-out shows at London’s Hackney Empire), will be touring Mexico, Chile, Brazil and Argentina with his band The Libertines in October, before heading out on his own for eight shows in France.
The ‘Broken Love Song’ hitmaker feels more involved in his new solo project and really “believes” in the music.
He previously said: “These new songs, this new line-up – I’m part of it, you know? It’s a small group. There’s more people in the band than there are in the whole crew plus management … I’m really inside these new songs. I believe in them.”
Pete released his acclaimed debut solo album ‘Grace/Wastelands’ in 2009.
He has released three albums with The Libertines – 2002’s ‘Up The Bracket’, 2004’s ‘The Libertines’ and 2015’s ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth’.
And three records with Babyshambles – ‘Down In Albion’ in 2005, ‘Shotter’s Nation’ in 2007 and ‘Sequel To The Prequel in 2013.
The full track-listing for ‘Hamburg Demonstrations’ is:
‘Kolly Kibber’
‘Down For The Outing’

Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs keen for Oasis reunion

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs would be there “like a shot” if the original members of Oasis reformed.
The former guitarist and founding member of the group – who left in 1999, during the recording of their fourth album, ‘Standing on the Shoulder of Giants’ – has said that if bitter siblings Noel and Liam Gallagher ever decided to reunite the ‘Wonderwall’ group he definitely wouldn’t turn down the opportunity.
He said: “There’s never a day goes by when I’m not asked by someone about a reunion. But nothing has been said to me about that. If I was asked? Then absolutely, like a shot.”
At the time, Bonehead claimed he parted ways with the band because he wanted to spend more time with his wife Kate and their children, 21-year-old Lucy – who Noel is godfather to – and son Jude, 23.
The 51-year-old musician – who was replaced by guitarist Gem Archer until Oasis disbanded in 2009 – was speaking to promote the group’s eagerly-anticipated documentary, ‘Supersonic’, and said watching it brought back all of the “incredible” memories they shared.
He told the Manchester Evening News: “It was a pretty incredible film to watch. There was stuff on there that even the band members are thinking how did they get that? It’s a brilliant, brilliant film, really portrays it all.
“I think it really brought it back to me. At the time everything was happening so quick and we were reaching those heights, you really don’t get a day to sit back and think, where are we going?
“When we were doing it then there was no YouTube, Facebook or Twitter, so to sit and back and watch those early years, growing up to walking out with the band at Knebworth, it was a pretty incredible thing.”
Bonehead and Liam have reunited on several occasions over the years including the launch of the ‘Chasing the Sun’ exhibition in London in 2014, and at a special charity gig with The Charlatans in 2013.
Meanwhile, chances of a reunion are looking slim as Noel – who broke up Oasis in 2009 when he walked out of the group following a bust-up with his brother Liam – claimed there is about a “one per cent” chance of a reunion as he doesn’t need the money.
The 49-year-old rocker previously said: “Oh one, there’s a one per cent chance it might happen, but I don’t think so.
“There would have to be extraordinary circumstances, cause I wouldn’t do it artistically, I don’t need the money, I don’t need the record sales. I can’t think of a reason that I would look to do that. What would be the point? I don’t know. I don’t see what the point would be.”
However, Liam – who recently signed a record deal with Warner Bros Records UK to release a solo LP in 2017 – recently admitted he would be open to a comeback “for the fans”.
He said: “I believe Oasis will sail again and it’ll be glorious. If it’s really about the fans, Noel, let’s do it – because they want it. One year. Tour for a year.
“We’d smash it. My bags are still packed from my last tour, so I’m ready.”

Britney Spears gets 'naughty' at Apple Music Festival 10

OHMYGOSSIP — Britney Spears was determined to perform a “naughty” set at the Apple Music Festival 10 in London on Tuesday night (27.09.16).
The 34-year-old pop superstar and her entourage of 13 dancers put on a risque performance at the Roundhouse in Camden all scantily dressed as the ‘Piece of Me’ hitmaker stormed through a 90-minute set of her Las Vegas show at her first concert in the UK in five years.
Before performing the sexy smasher ‘Freakshow’, the blonde beauty asked the crowd: “Do you want to get Naughty? Let’s get really naughty in here.”
Britney also brought a fan up on stage during the song, who was tied to a leash and dragged around by the dancers, continuing the show’s S&M theme.
The pop beauty opened her set with ‘Work Bitch’ and went on to perform all of her biggest hits from ‘Oops I Did It Again’ right through to her song ‘Make Me’, from her latest LP ‘Glory’, which features rapper G-Eazy who was notably absent.
There were plenty of opportunities for Britney to bring guests on stage as she performed her song with will.i.am, ‘Scream and Shout’, ‘Boys’, which she did with Pharrell Williams and her huge hit with Madonna, ‘Me Against The Music’.
However, she decided to have her own moment at her first concert across the pond since her O2 Arena show on her ‘Femme Fatale Tour’ in 2011.
While there were no celebrity guest visible on stage, a whole host of stars attended the concert including super fan Sam Smith who managed to sneak backstage to meet his idol.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Sam was really excited. He’d never met Britney before and wasn’t going to let the opportunity slip.”
Other stars in attendance included Rita Ora, Daisy Lowe, Millie Mackintosh and Laura Whitmore.
For those who were unavailable to catch Britney in person, the show – and the rest of the festival gigs – is available live and on-demand to Apple Music members in 100 countries.
Michael Buble will perform on Wednesday night (28.09.16) and Chance The Rapper will bring the Apple Music Festival 10 to a close on Friday night (30.09.16).
