Sting won't reunite with The Police

OHMYGOSSIP — Sting won’t reunite with The Police again.
The 65-year-old singer – whose real name is Gordon Sumner – has ruled out the possibility of getting back together with his old bandmates, drummer Stewart Copeland and guitarist Andy Summers.
He told The Sun newspaper: “I haven’t gone back, this is part of my musical life. I play rock ‘n’ roll every night of my working life so It’s not like I am going to return and be just like The Police. I am the f***ing Police.”
The ‘Every Breath You Take’ hitmakers last performed together on a worldwide tour in 2007, which ended in 2008.
Sting said in 2010 he didn’t want to rejoin the group because he found the music they were making was uninspiring.
At the time, he said: “It wasn’t easy. There was nothing new in it – no new songs, no new energy, no desire to take that as a platform and move somewhere else.”
Sting – who is gearing up to release his first rock solo album in three years, ’57th & 9th’, on November 11 – also compared a reunion to a divorced couple reuniting and said nothing could tempt him to do it again.
He explained: “People reacted to The Police coming back as if mum and dad had got together, you could see that emotion in the audience. But who really wants to go and live with the wife you divorced? I won’t do it again. But I don’t need to I’ve done it now.”
Despite his negative feelings, Sting didn’t regret the reunion in 2007.
He said: “I had an instinct that it was the right time to realise that asset, and I was right. It was purely an exercise in nostalgia.”

Bruno Mars announces new single 24k Magic

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruno Mars is to release new song ’24k Magic’ on Friday (07.09.16).
The ‘Uptown Funk’ hitmaker shared with his 7.1 million followers that he will share the first song from his as-yet-untitled third album, his first in four years, at the end of the week and has teased that it is a “party” anthem.
In a series of posts revealing the single’s artwork on Instagram, he wrote: “Excited to announce 24k Magic’, out this Friday!! You can call it my first single, but I call it the invitation to the party. #24KMagic (sic)”
The LP is the follow-up to 2012’s ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’ and has been in the works for the last year.
The 30-year-old singer’s long-term bass player Jamareo Artis previously confirmed the record is to drop by the end of 2016 which will lead to a tour.
He said: “We’ve been working on it for about a year, trying different ideas and experimenting. I don’t know what’s going to be included in the final version, but it’s going to have a new sound, and so far the material is very groove-oriented.
“It’ll be out sometime this year, and then we’ll hit the road again.”
The 26-year-old bassist revealed Bruno regularly plays the piano when he is on the phone to him to gauge his opinion on a song, but admitted he finds it “challenging” when the superstar singer asks him to play a random tune on the spot.
He added: “Bruno will call me up and play some piano over the phone to see what I think of his ideas, and he’ll ask where he should go from there.
“Or I’ll go into the studio and he’ll have basic parts that he wants me to jam out on and do my thing. Most challenging is when he has me start a song out of nowhere, in any key with any groove or vibe.
“He’ll say to me, ‘Hey Jam, I need ‘Billie Jean’.’ That’s a lot of pressure, you know? You don’t just come up with ‘Billie Jean’ off the top of your head.
“All you can do is play what you’re feeling in that moment and hope it works. But Bruno knows how to make a hit, so if the part works for him, I know I’m in good hands.”

Kelly Clarkson's new LP will be 'super soulful'

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelly Clarkson’s new album will be “super soulful”.
The ‘Beautiful Disaster’ hitmaker has opened up about her eighth studio LP, which she says is a return to the music she performed as a contestant on ‘American Idol’ in 2002.
She explained: “It’s the album I’ve always wanted to make since I was in junior high. It’s super soulful, fun, and more along the lines of urban pop.
“It’s definitely what people heard me sing on ‘American Idol’ – more of that soulful sound.”
The 34-year-old singer – who went on to win the US talent show – is to lock herself away in the studio in the coming months to record songs for her follow-up to 2015’s ‘Piece by Piece’ and said that it will be unlike anything she’s ever done before.
She told the Toronto Sun: “We already have a few songs and we’re going to Los Angeles in a few weeks to cut a bunch more.
“I love all the music I’ve done over the past 14 years.
“I’ve just never really been able to make the album I’m making now.”
Kelly – who signed to Atlantic Records in June after 14 years at RCA Records – previously revealed she was inspired to write a song for the record after reading the book ‘Big Little Lies’ by Liane Moriarty.
Kelly has written lyrics from the main character’s perspective of going through domestic violence, which enabled her to understand what it must feel like.
She said: “I actually wrote a song that might go on this next record about one of the characters, Celeste.
“know this is going to sound horrible, but I’ve just never understood domestic violence. And Liane did such a great job at depicting the emotional state, what exactly is going through peoples’ heads, why they make the decisions they do, what traps them, what they’re holding on to.
“So I wrote the song from the character’s perspective. I have more empathy for that situation [now].”

Moby retires from touring

OHMYGOSSIP — Moby has announced he will never tour again.
The dance music star is getting ready to release his 13th studio album ‘These Systems Are Failing’ later in October which he has recorded with The Void Pacific Choir.
However, any fans looking forward to seeing Moby, 51, live once the record is out will be disappointed as he has no intention of ever playing a show again because he hates life on the road.
Speaking to the BBC, he said: “Most musicians put out a record with the intent of touring and my intention is to never tour again as long as I live because I hate touring. I love playing music but going to the same airports and the same hotels and the law of diminishing returns, as you age you play smaller venues and you try and play new songs but the audience just want to hear the hits which I understand because when I go to see middle-aged musicians, I want to see the hits.”
Moby – real name Richard Hall – previously revealed touring left him with numerous health issues such as “depression and insomnia”.
The ‘Find My Baby’ hitmaker believes the gruelling touring schedule of most musicians is what makes them turn to alcohol and drugs.
Moby – who is teetotal said: “I’ve never gone on a tour and not experienced anxiety, depression and insomnia. In the early days, it seemed like a small price to pay. But at this point in my life, I can’t in good conscious punish myself and my body and my mental health out of obligation to go on tour.
“[Planes and tour buses] are unhealthy, toxic spaces, to pretend otherwise is why so many touring musicians become alcoholics and addicts and eventually die. If you look at the mortality rates of people who tour, it is an incredibly dangerous profession – people die really young.”

The Killers ditch plans to fly into space

OHMYGOSSIP — The Killers have ditched their plans to travel to space because they’re worried about dying.
The four members of the American rock band all had confirmed seats on the first Virgin Galactic commercial space flight but now guitarist Dave Keuning has revealed they have now decided to change their plans because they’ve got “nervous” about how safe the voyage is.
In an interview with Little Village Magazine, Keuning shared: “It’s something I’m still interested in, but Virgin has kept pushing that date back. They said it was going to be 2010, and then ’11, and then ’12, and they still haven’t done it. It’s actually made me a bit nervous about being on the first one. Whenever it happens, I’ll probably let other people do it first for a few years because I don’t want to be the one who blows up.”
Keuning, 40, admits it is still his dream to travel into space and he hopes that one day there will be a hotel on Mars which he can stay at.
However, the ‘Mr. Brightside’ hitmaker doesn’t think he will live to see the day it happens.
Keuning – who is joined in The Killers by Brandon Flowers, Mark Stoermer and Ronnie Vannucci, Jr. – said: “It’s definitely a dream of mine to go to space. It’s unfortunate how slow the space program is moving. That’s my biggest reason for wanting to live a long life, to see what happens. Will we get to Mars? Will there be a hotel on the moon someday? I don’t know. Stuff like this fascinates me.
“It’s moving really slow when you think about how long ago we were on the moon landing and what we’ve done since. I don’t know if we’ll ever come close to what you see in movies.”

Lady Gaga's new album is inspired by 'all the men' in her life

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga’s new album has been influenced by “all the men” in her life.
The ‘Bad Romance’ hitmaker – who recently broke off her engagement to actor Taylor Kinney in July this year after dating for five years – has admitted the LP titled ‘Joanne’ after her aunt was inspired by her split from ‘The Other Woman’ star.
Speaking to The Mirror Online about her music, the blonde beauty said: “When you listen to the album, it’s clear the influence that all the men in my life have made on this record. That’s at the middle of it, as well: I always wanted to be a good girl. And Joanne was such a good girl.
“I’m figuring out all of those relationships in my life through the music, and going very deeply into it.”
The 30-year-old musician has also revealed her father is also referenced to on the album because she was trying to “understand him” through music.
She explained: “But I have such a rebellious spirit, and my father was always very angry. He drank because of his sister’s death. I was trying to understand him through making this record, and in that, also trying to understand why I love men that are cowboys.”
Meanwhile Lady Gaga has revealed despite the solemn undertones and underlying influences, the album is not a “sad album”, but is a compilation of music, which will allow her fans to get to know her better.
She said: “But in a totally beautiful way. It’s not a sad album. It’s an album that is very revealing of me as a woman.”
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga has admitted her and Taylor’s split was amicable and she still classes the dark-haired hunk as her “soul mate”.
Speaking previously, she said: “Taylor and I have always believed we are soul mates.
“Just like all couples, we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break.
“Please root us on. We’re just like everybody else, and we really love each other.”

Her told The Sun newspaper: “I’d love to headline in the Pyramid Stage, that’s one of my main goals. I played for the first time last year and the place erupted. Doing it on an even bigger stage would be an honour.”
The ‘Fill Me In’ hitmaker made his his Glastonbury debut last year in front of 20,000 fans on the Silver Hayes stage, but thousands of people were turned away because it had reached capacity.
But Craig loved every moment of the festival and wants to do more.
He added: “I was playing Glastonbury on the Silver Hayes stage, one of the smaller stages.
“I walked out to go and get a feel of Glastonbury. I didn’t want to be that thing of being backstage the whole time, because you haven’t been to Glastonbury if you stay backstage.
“So I went out and went in the mix. I was just feeling it out. I saw all the little spots where people were doing their little rave and the little food spots.
“Literally when I was on stage I looked out, from where I was the crowd didn’t end for what looked like a mile from where I was. I was just like, ‘This is Glastonbury!’

“I have so much love for Glastonbury.”
Craig also revealed how he has cut down on drinking as he wants to focus on his music.
He said: “I pick the time to go out and do my thing.
“I go for meals and hang out with mates, but if you want to give 100 per cent you can’t burn the candle at both ends.
“I’ve been given this opportunity to sing. When I wake up at 5am and I’m warming up, people think that’s crazy time to get up, but I haven’t got that attitude of ‘poor me’.
“There are doctors, firemen, servicemen, making a difference. I get to sing and write songs. I’m so grateful.”

Diplo wants artists to make songs that last 'a lifetime'

OHMYGOSSIP — Diplo wants artists to make songs that last “a lifetime”.
The 37-year-old American DJ – whose real name is Thomas Wesley Pentz – has admitted he thinks electronic dance music is in “decline”, and urges musicians to create songs that will last “longer than the summer” and not just for “another radio cycle”.
Speaking about the music industry to EDMsauce.com, Diplo – who is the co-creator and frontman of Major Lazer – said: “Some of these [artists] are great that are part of [dance music] and make great music but for the most part you already see that it’s in decline.
“There hasn’t been a dance song on the radio except Calvin Harris and Rihanna this while year.
“[You have to think] What’s going to make people think about my band or my songs longer than the summer? You know, that’s what you should think about your position. How can this song last another lifetime not just another radio cycle?”
And the music producer believes the industry is making a U-turn and moving back to a surge in hip hop music.
He explained: “I think people have moved on. They’ve moved on to hip-hop again.”
Meanwhile Diplo has admitted he has tried exploring other career paths but was never any good at anything other than music.
He explained: “I’ve tried doing jobs I was just bad at them, I couldn’t keep one. I think music was the release. I don’t think was great at it. You’re kind of faking it until you make it.
“If you can learn how to survive and make music and be a creative person in Philly [Philadelphia], you can make music anywhere. It’s so tough just to make a living.”
And the ‘Cold Water’ hitmaker has revealed Philadelphia and singer songwriters Spank Rock and Plastic Little inspired him.
He said: “Philly was very inspirational. It helped me to have the courage to do what we do.
“[Spank rock and Plastic Little ] which are two bands who are very very influential to me, they were part of this upcoming genre.”

John Lydon misses former manager Malcolm McLaren

OHMYGOSSIP — John Lydon misses his former manager Malcolm McLaren.
The 60-year-old rocker won a case against the impresario – who died from cancer in 2010, aged 64 – over unpaid royalties and the control of the Sex Pistols brand in 1987, which the pair famously fell out over.
However, Lydon has now admitted he wishes he was still around and misses him just as much as his own parents, Eileen, who died in 1978, and father, John, who passed away in 2008.
Speaking to website Calibrequarterly.com, he said: “Malcolm, what have you achieved, no one liked you, and they liked each other even less! That’s not a legacy is it? Leave well alone.
“And yet I miss him, I miss his company y’know? We’d have great rows, great rows.
“And no human being, once their place has gone in life, can be replaced so, for me, death of any kind, of anybody, no matter how extremely different we are, is a great loss.
“And I’d put it on an equal level with the death of me own mum and dad, of my friends, it hurts, it personally hurts.”
The ‘God Save The Queen’ hitmaker once labelled McLaren the “most evil man in the world” and they feuded right up until his death six years ago.
Meanwhile, Lydon says it has taken him 40 years to find the “perfect blend” of bandmates.
Lydon – who quit the iconic group mid-way through a troubled American tour in 1978 – is the happiest he’s ever been in his band Public Image Ltd because the members all “respect” their art and aren’t just in it for stardom.
Lydon – who is joined by Keith Levene, Jah Wobble and Jim Walker in the post-punk band – told the publication: “It’s taken me 40 years to find the perfect blend of people who truly do respect each other. Every band does when they first start, but it can very quickly turn to ego. There’re far too many people in the music business who want to be superstars, rather than enjoy what it is that they’ve been given!”

Iggy Azalea put her album on hold because her life 'fell apart'

OHMYGOSSIP — Iggy Azalea was forced to put her album on hold because her personal life “fell apart”.
The 26-year-old rapper has admitted she “needed a lot of time” to deal with her split from her ex fiancé Nick Young, after she allegedly caught him having sex with another woman, which led her to delay the release of her LP ‘Digital Distortion’ for a year.
Speaking to PEOPLE about the track, which was set to be unveiled this year but had been pushed back to January next year, the blonde beauty said: “It’s no secret, I kind of had my personal life fall apart … I needed a lot of time.
“I mean, you wake up one morning and your fiancé is having a baby with someone else, you’re going to need some time, right?”
And the ‘Fancy’ hitmaker – who ended her relationship with the Los Angeles Lakers player in June this year after it was revealed his ex-partner Keonna Green was expecting a second child with Nick – has admitted she didn’t want the focus of interviews during the time of promoting her new tracks to be about her relationship.
She explained: “I don’t want to go and promote my album and get asked about my relationship that has just crumbled.”
However, Iggy – whose real name is Amethyst Amelia Kelly – has revealed her break-up has led her to change the direction of the album to suit her current relationship status.
Speaking about the songs on her album, she said: “I just kind of felt like, on top of me needing the personal time, then feeling, ‘Okay, I’m single now. I want to have sexy songs. I want to say stuff about being single’.

Speaking to The Sun Online about the band’s comeback, Matt – who has six-year-old daughter Isabelle and four-year-old son Ace with his wife Emma Willis – said: “I think everything’s different when you have a kid.
“Working is a little bit harder because when you’re away that’s the down side of being in a band – that you have you have some time away from your family.
“But that’s just our job and we get to do something really cool for a living, which is awesome but then we go home.”
Meanwhile, the 33-year-old singer has revealed his brood share the same interests as him and have “quite [a] good taste” in music, although he thinks he has forced them to like certain artists.

“They watch this horrible thing called the descendants it’s on all the time, it’s horrible stuff.”

Van Morrison wows at BBC Radio 2 In Concert show

OHMYGOSSIP — Van Morrison played an intimate gig for just 400 lucky fans in London on Thursday night (30.09.16) for the ‘BBC Radio 2 In Concert’ series.
Over 30,000 applications for tickets were received as fans scrambled for one of these priceless tickets but only one in 75 were lucky enough to secure a spot for what proved to be a magical evening.
Van, 71, was on truly magnificent form and turned the BBC Radio Theatre into what seemed to be an intimate nightclub.
The legendary musician was backed by a very small band; just four musicians and one backing singer.
But the sound he managed to achieve was passionate, powerful and mellow. It was the aural equivalent of bathing in spicy honey.
The concert was mainly a showcase for his brilliant new album ‘Keep Me Singing’, and the first single ‘Too Late’ is another Van masterpiece and with which Van opened the show.
The set lasted for 75 minutes and Van mesmerised the crowd by working through 18 songs from across his entire 50-year career.
These included early hits from his first band Them including ‘Baby Please Don’t Go’, more songs from his new album including ‘Let It Rhyme’ and well as old Van classics such as ‘Wild Night’, ‘Whenever God Shines His Light’ and ‘Brown Eyed Girl’.
The songs were a wonderful mix of pop, soul, jazz, blues, amazing musicianship and vocal gymnastics.
Those lucky 400 who saw the show for free realised it was worth the weight of the whole audience in gold and those unlucky 29,600 who missed it weren’t that unlucky – they and millions more were able to listen to it live as it was broadcast on BBC Radio 2
The concert is also available to watch at bbc.co.uk/radio2and on the BBC Red Button.

Robbie Williams censors Russian-themed comeback single

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams had to censor his comeback single which pokes fun at Russian president Vladimir Putin.
The 42-year-old pop star has released ‘Party Like A Russian’ and revealed he removed a lot of the lyrics so he wouldn’t upset the people of the Eastern European country.
He said: “I had my chisel and whittle at the lyrics.
“There’s 147 million people in Russia and I don’t want to upset them in any way and I don’t know what kind of sense of humour they’ve got
“I’m not making fun of anybody but I had to take a few things out just to make it more PC – and this is the PC version you’re getting.”
On the track, he sings: “It takes a certain kind of man with a certain reputation to alleviate the cash from a whole entire nation, take my loose change and build my own space station.”
When asked if he thinks the 63-year-old politician will come after him for the song, he said he doubts he will because it’s a tongue-in-cheek song, which just pokes funny at Russian’s being party animals.
He replied: “I doubt that very much. I hope not. I think the of the record is saying party like a Russian. And we as Brits or you as a New Zealander think that we party really hard.
“I can assure you we’re nothing compared to the Russians who are ridiculously good partiers.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Rock DJ’ hitmaker said he thinks there should be more artists like former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher making “pop with dysfunction”.
He told The Sun newspaper: “There doesn’t seem to be a lot of personality out there.
“There should be a Liam Gallagher making music and being dangerous.
“Everyone seems to be politicking and sticking to scripts.
“We seem to be getting Olympic-scale pop stars.
“They’re great too and a sight to behold, but I like my pop with dysfunction.”
‘Party Like A Russian’ is from Robbie’s 11th studio LP ‘Heavy Entertainment Show’, which is out on November 4.

Ryan Tedder on Adele's 'unused' hits

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Tedder has revealed Adele has potentially “massive” hits waiting to be used.
The 37-year-old hitmaker worked on the British songstress’ latest LP ’25’ with songwriter to the stars Max Martin and says there were loads of tracks the 28-year-old ‘Hello’ hitmaker decided not to include on the record.
Speaking to The Times newspaper, he said: “She [Adele] passed on a lot of hits for this album [25].
“Max Martin and I are both sitting on songs that could be massive. This the power of Adele and Beyonce: When you can cast aside hit after hit in exchange for pure honesty.”
The OneRepublic frontman also said that he won’t work with just anyone.
He said: “I only work with people I genuinely listen to or like.
“Even if I’m not a card-carrying album-buyer of them, if I admire their talent, then I’ll make it happen.”
The hunky tunesmith previously admitted he found it “difficult” to produce Adele’s music because everything she does sounds like “a hit.”
He explained: “It’s difficult to produce Adele because everything she sings sounds like a hit, so it’s a lot harder on the songwriting process. She could sing ‘Feliz Cumpleaños’ in Spanish and somehow you go: ‘That is probably a top 10’.
“Her voice is that damn good. So you have to be harder on yourself and the songs, because her voice will convince you that what you’re writing is better than it is.”
Meanwhile, Blur frontman Damon Albarn recently said he also has music he made for Adele, which she rejected, and he may use it for himself.
When asked if he plans on using material recorded with the singer/songwriter, he said: “I never waste anything.”
