Lady Gaga asked her audience to call her 'Joanne' during her Dive Bar tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga asked her audience to call her “Joanne” during the first night of her three-city tour.
The 30-year-old singer songwriter started her Bud Light x Lady Gaga Dive Bar performances in Nashville, Tennessee, on Wednesday (05.10.16), but prior to plaing tracks from her latest album ‘Joanne’, which was named after her late aunt, the ‘Bad Romance’ hitmaker requested the concert-goers do her “one favour” and not call her Lady Gaga, according to The Rolling Stones website.
Speaking at the gig, the blonde beauty said: “If you could do me this favour. Tonight if you could just call me ‘Joanne.'”
Prior to the concert all phones and mobile devices were confiscated from fans to enable Lady Gaga to stream the event via Facebook Live.
Lady Gaga kicked off her show at 9.15pm whilst clad in a rhinestone jacket and pink hat to perform four tracks, including ‘Sinner’s Prayer’, ‘A-Yo’, ‘A Million Reasons’, before finishing off with ‘Perfect Illusion’.
During the show a group of 15 hearing impaired people, who represented Not Impossible, attended the gig and wore a custom-made vest, which vibrated with the beat of the music to enable them to follow each single, whilst a person performed in sign language on the stage wings.
Despite singing only four songs during her set, the powerhouse revealed she kept her gig short so as not to reveal “too much” from her upcoming LP.
She explained: “We can’t give away too much tonight, so we’ll see you next stop.”
Lady Gaga’s next show will take place one day before her LP will be released, on October 20th, and again one week later on October 27th.
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga has revealed her album is about “all the men” in her life, including her ex-fiancé actor Taylor Kinney – who she broke up with in July this year after dating for five years – and her father.
Speaking previously about her forthcoming record, she said: “When you listen to the album, it’s clear the influence that all the men in my life have made on this record.
“But I have such a rebellious spirit, and my father was always very angry. He drank because of his sister’s death. I was trying to understand him through making this record.”

Liam Gallagher's movie therapy

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher found filming the new Oasis documentary “like therapy”.
The 44-year-old rocker was forced to relive the past in interviews for ‘Supersonic’ and director Mat Whitecross says the outspoken star found an unexpected benefit to their on-camera sessions.
He recalled: “Liam kept saying, ‘This is like therapy I never had; I’m going to come back next week’. I kept on saying we should pretend the film’s not coming out!”
Liam and his older brother and former bandmate Noel Gallagher – who have rarely spoken since their row which split the group in 2009 – wouldn’t be interviewed together for the film, but the director found that to be beneficial.
He explained to the Independent: “When I look back on the archives of them together, it’s very funny and scandalous, but it’s relatively superficial. When we got them separately, we could dig deeper, revisit stuff and not worry one of them might walk out at any moment.”
For Mat, who was a huge Oasis fan, the group’s music played a big part in the film but he would only include a song if it was relevant to the story he wanted to tell.
However, because of licensing costs, he was unable to include the group’s cover of The Beatles’ ‘I Am the Walrus’ in the finished documentary.
He laughed: “We had a list of every song on the wall. The golden rule was it’s not enough for a song to be good – it’s got to tell a story.
“I wanted their version of ‘I Am the Walrus’ in there so we could start talking about The Beatles’ influence. The music supervisor went, ‘Let’s put it this way: you can have the entire Oasis back catalogue or ‘I Am the Walrus’ – which is more important to you?’
“I was like, ‘f**k it, I’ll take that one out’.”

Kanye West praised by festival bosses

OHMYGOSSIP — Kanye West has been praised by the Meadows Music & Arts Festival organisers for how he dealt with cutting short his set.
The 39-year-old rapper stopped his headline performance at the New York event after an hour on Sunday (02.10.16) evening, citing a “family emergency”, after his wife Kim Kardashian West was robbed at gunpoint in Paris, and event bosses think the fact he gave a reason for an early departure made the crowd more understanding.
Founders Entertainment’s Jordan Wolowitz said: “I happened to be backstage when it went down, so we all dealt with it in real time. I think the team handled it as smoothly as they could in terms of getting Kanye out of there safely and, to Kanye’s credit, having the instincts to say that he had a family emergency before he dropped the mic and walked off stage really helped things.
“If he had said nothing and just walked off, there could have been potential crowd issues so the situation went about as well as it could in terms of everyone’s safety and well-being.
“The news, as the whole world knows, broke within the hour, so I think that for people leaving the festival looking at social media, it just blew up everywhere.
“We’re just really happy that his family is OK and everything seems to be good with them.”
The event had earlier been hit by a blow when The Weeknd pulled out as he was also performing on ‘Saturday Night Live’ but organisers don’t hold a grudge and would happily put him on the bill at another of their festivals in the future.
Jordan told Billboard: “The Weeknd made a choice to cancel his appearance at the Meadows, and we have to respect the artists’ wishes at the end of the day.
“From what we gather, it was totally a scheduling situation, and a difficult one for him. He’s a world class artist, and we have discussed his coming to play other events of ours in the future.”
And Jordan and his business partner Tom Russell think the fact few fans were disappointed enough to ask for refunds shows how strong the festival bill – which also included Tygo, Cage The Elephant, the 1975, Chromeo and J. Cole – was.
Jordan said: “We had very few requests for refunds, which I think is a testament to the strength of the overall line-up.”

Trent Reznor teases new Nine Inch Nails music

OHMYGOSSIP — Trent Reznor has teased the possibility of new Nine Inch Nails music.
The 51-year-old rocker first teased fans at the end of last year when he took to Twitter to claim that the band would be releasing new music at some point in 2016, along with “other stuff too”.
He tweeted at the time: “New NIN coming in 2016. Other stuff, too. (sic)”
The ‘Closer’ hitmakers – completed by Robin Finck, Alessandro Cortini, and Ilan Rubin – are still yet to release any new music since Trent first teased the possibility, though he insists that the year “is not over yet” and fans should be patient.
One restless fan eventually took to the Instagram comments on a photo the musician posted on Wednesday (05.10.16) to ask: “What’s the word on new NIN for 2016 like you said?”
To which Trent simply replied: “2016 is not over yet.”
And the continued news of possible new music from the band comes after Trent – who also penned soundtracks for films such as ‘Between the Flood’ and ‘Patriot’s Day’ – took to Twitter in August to shut down rumours of a new single from the ‘Head Like a Hole’ musicians, after a song called ‘Dive and Slam’ appeared on the online music database Discogs.
Trent simply tweeted: “Not true.”
On top of his work with the metal band and as a soundtrack writer, Trent also served as a Chief Creative Officer for Beats before the company was bought by tech giants Apple.
Since then, he’s maintained a similar role at Apple Music, helping design the Beats 1 radio station.
Speaking at the time, the star said he would keep working with Apple because “anything that makes music more important to people is worth it”.
Nine Inch Nails haven’t released any new material since 2014’s remix EP ‘Seed Eight’. Their last full album was ‘Hesitation Marks’, released in 2013.

Bros comeback inspired by family tragedy

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt and Luke Goss’ Bros comeback has been inspired by their late mother.
The 48-year-old twins recently announced their return to the music industry following a 24-year break and have revealed that the loss of their mum Carol in 2014 was the reason behind their comeback.
Matt explained: “We lost our mother. That took a great toll on both me and my brother.
“That is the day you truly become men. What it has done is made us very deeply realise that we are such a family.
“You mess with my brother, you mess with me. We’re proper double trouble.
“It’s a beautiful thing to have each other’s back in the way we do. And that intensity will make its way on stage too.”
Luke explained that his mum’s death was especially hard to accept because they are such a close family.
He told The Sun newspaper: “We have a very small family so when you lose people you love – sister, our mother, grandfathers who raised us with our mother – you start to put great value on it.
“Family has become a priority now.”
Meanwhile, Matt admitted that his mum’s death nearly sent him over the edge.
He shared: “There have been times when it’s been dark.
“I had to make a decision when mum passed, I was either going to spiral out of control into nothingness or honour her blood and teaching, which was, ‘Stay strong and keep moving, left foot, right foot, but remember to dance along the way’. That’s exactly what I’ve done.
“Then I’ve come together with my best friend. Luke is my best friend and I trust him with my life.”
The ‘When Will I Be Famous?’ hitmakers will return to the stage in 2017 at London’s O2 Arena for a reunion concert.

Quincy Jones pays tribute to Rod Temperton

OHMYGOSSIP — Quincy Jones has been left with a “heavy heart” following the death of Rod Temperton.
It was announced on Wednesday (05.10.16) that the legendary songwriter – who penned songs including Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’, ‘Off The Wall’ and ‘Rock With You’ – had died of cancer last week, and the acclaimed producer has been left devastated by the death of a man he described as “the best” at his job.
Quincy told Rolling Stone magazine: “There are simply no words to express how heavy my heart is at the news of the passing of my friend, brother and colleague Rod Temperton.
“It all starts with the song, and Rod was one of my go-to songwriters. He was one of the best, period.
“Not just for Michael [Jackson], but for James Ingram, Patti Austin, Rufus and Chaka Khan, Herbie Hancock and a host of others.
“His creativity just never stopped. He had an excellent compositional instinct and wrote great music because he had absorbed it to such an extent that it just came straight out of him as if it were second nature.”
The 83-year-old producer remembered how “insanely” prolific a writer Rod was when they were working on the ‘Thriller’ album and vowed to “forever treasure” their friendship and time working together.
He added: “He wrote three songs for ‘Thriller’…’Baby Be Mine,’ ‘The Lady in My Life’ and ‘Thriller’; and wrote the Vincent Price intro to ‘Thriller’ in the car on the way from the airport to the studio.
“To say his talent was insane is an understatement. He was the best friend and brother you could ever work with, and I will forever treasure our friendship and all those decades together in the studio.”
A number of other stars have also paid tribute to the late songwriter.
Guitarist Nile Rodgers has credited the star for making the world “funkier” with his records,
He tweeted: “Your genius gave us a funkier world! (sic).”
And Boy George has also praised Temperton for his contribution to the industry.
He said: “Sad to hear about the passing of Rod Temperton, a great British songwriter who gave us so much great music. R.I.P (sic).”
Whilst The Weeknd – whose real name is Abél Tesfaye – has also paid his respects to the “legend”.
He wrote: “R.I.P to the legend Rod Temperton Abél Makkonen Tesfaye (sic).”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga has debuted three new songs from her upcoming album ‘Joanne’.
The 30-year-old singer performed ‘Sinner’s Prayer’, ‘A-Yo’ and ‘Million Reasons’ on the opening night of her three-date dive bar tour in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday (05.10.16) and also announced ‘Million Reasons’ as her new single.
This follows ‘Perfect Illusion’, which was the first single from the eagerly-anticipated album.
Gaga tweeted after the show: “OMG. THANKU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO JUST WATCHED THE LIVE STREAM OF MY PERFORMANCE IVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG I [LOVE] U more than you could know! (sic).”
Meanwhile, Gaga’s new album was named after her late aunt but she recently revealed the track ‘Just Another Day’ was inspired by David Bowie.
Speaking with Ryan Seacrest on his radio show ‘On Air with Ryan Seacrest’, the blonde beauty said: “It’s probably the most New York-glam-pop song on the album.
“It’s influenced by [David] Bowie and Marc Bolan [of T. Rex] and then maybe from some obscure London metal stuff, the Beatles. It also kind of comes from the electroclash movement from New York and that’s kind of when I started coming up, was right after that.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Bad Romance’ hitmaker – who broke off her engagement to actor Taylor Kinney in July this year after five years of dating – admitted her split from ‘The Other Woman’ actor inspired her album, but it was also influenced by “all of the men” in her life.
Speaking previously, she said: “When you listen to the album, it’s clear the influence that all the men in my life have made on this record. That’s at the middle of it, as well: I always wanted to be a good girl. And Joanne was such a good girl.
“I’m figuring out all of those relationships in my life through the music, and going very deeply into it.”
‘Joanne’ will be released on October 21.

Rod Temperton has died aged 66

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Jackson’s songwriter Rod Temperton has died aged 66 years old.
The creative mastermind behind the late musician’s 1982 hit ‘Thriller’ passed away “last week” after enduring an “aggressive battle” with cancer, although the news was announced on Wednesday (05.10.16), and it has been reported his funeral was a “private” affair, according to The Mirror Online.
The Chairman and CEO of Warner/Chappell, Jon Platt, announced the news in a statement. He said: “Rod Temperton, British Composer and Musician, died last week at the age of 66 in London following a brief aggressive battle with cancer.
“His funeral was private. He was often referred to as The Invisible Man.”
Temperton had penned a number of tracks for the former Jackson Five band member including ‘Off The Wall’, and ‘Rock With You’, as well as many others.
According to Platt, Temperton’s family have requested “total privacy” surrounding the matter during this tragic time.
He added: “His family is devastated and request total privacy at this, the saddest of sad times.”
Temperton launched his career when he joined the R ‘n’ B group Heatwave as their keyboard player and songwriter, alongside Johnnie Wilder, Keith Wilder, Mario Mantese, Ernest Berger, Eric Johns and Roy Carter.
However, prior to boasting a successful career in the music industry, which saw him work with ‘Heartbreaker’ hitmaker Mariah Carey and Karen Carpenter, Temperton worked in a frozen fish factory in Grimsby, England.
And a number of tributes to Temperton have flooded in via social media.
Guitarist Nile Rodgers has credited the star for making the world “funkier” with his records,
He tweeted: “Your genius gave us a funkier world! (sic).”
And Boy George has also praised Temperton for his contribution to the industry.

Bros confirm reunion

OHMYGOSSIP — Bros are reuniting for their first show in 28 years.
Brothers Matt and Luke Goss last played together as Bros – known for their huge hit ‘When Will I Be Famous?’ – at Wembley Stadium in August 19, 1989, and they will head back to the stage on the same date in 2017 at London’s O2 Arena for a reunion concert.
Matt said: “The most memorable moments for me in Bros so far is Wembley Stadium and without question our final global tour.
“Both of these experiences were just with Luke and myself. As the lead singer of the band, my musical connection has always been with Luke. Bros is Matt and Luke.”
Luke added: “Bros has been part of my life for 30 years. I’m deeply proud of it. Our biggest show was at Wembley Stadium, Bros Into Summer, it was just Matt and I so I feel comfortable saying with great pride that Matt and I are Bros.”
Bros were together from 1987 to 1992 and played 19 shows at Wembley back in their heyday, and were the youngest band to ever headline Wembley Stadium.
As well as ‘When Will I Be Famous?’, the group had hits with the likes of ‘I Owe You Nothing’ and released three studio albums, ‘Push’, ‘The Time’ and ‘Changing Faces’.
They have since dropped three greatest hits records, with their final one, ‘I Owe You Nothing – The Best of Bros’, coming in February 2011.
Bros split in 1992 when their singles began to plunge in the charts and Luke called time on the group, which Matt has since admitted was “heart-breaking”.
He previously said: “We felt we needed a break from each other. Luke to this day is still one of my best friends.”
Matt, 48, has gone on to reinvent himself as a singer in Las Vegas, performing a residency at the city’s Caesar’s Palace.
Luke, 48, has forged a movie career which has seen him star in ‘Blade 2’, ‘Hellboy 2’ and TV mini-series ‘Frankenstein’.
Their former band member Craig Logan departed the group in 1989 and will not be returning for the reunion.

Charlie Puth doesn't worry about perfect vocal

OHMYGOSSIP — Charlie Puth no longer worries about sounding perfect live.
The ‘Marvin Gaye’ hitmaker used to “cringe” if he hit a flat note, but has now realised his “energy” can carry him through so vocals are not as important as they are in the recording studio.
He said: “It’s something I’ve been trying to tackle over this past year. … When I first started rehearsing for my first tour last year, I would get discouraged — ‘Why were my vocals not 100 percent pitch perfect?’
“It’s totally normal, but it bothered me. I used to cringe on stage when I would hit a flat note, but I’ve learned that doing things live is a lot more forgiving than doing things in the studio.
“It’s all about the energy live, and that can make up for the imperfections that might not be on the records.”
Charlie thinks we are in a “golden age of songwriting” and has advised aspiring performers to pen their own material, rather than cover other people’s songs.
He told amNewYork: “My advice would be to not do just covers. Don’t just go to Google, type in ‘Justin Bieber Cold Water instrumental’ and sing over it.
“Make your own version, make it unique, and write original music. I think we’re going into a golden age of songwriting, and people are appreciative of it. So just write songs.”
When it comes to his own music, the 24-year-old singer says it is a “constant learning process” trying to figure out his own sound.
He said: “I’ve been producing songs for other artists, so I can stretch myself in different ways, but [my album is] also me trying to figure out what the sound of the moment for Charlie is going to be. It’s a constant learning process.”

Liam Gallagher: Solo LP won't be as good as Oasis

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher doesn’t think his solo album will be as “good or important” as anything Oasis did.
The 44-year-old rocker is keen for his former band – who split in 2009 following an explosive row between him and his brother, guitarist Noel Gallagher – to reunite but thinks he needs to wait for his older sibling to “lighten up” before that will happen.
So in the meantime, Liam is keeping busy in the studio working on his debut solo LP.
He said: “Being out of Oasis has been like a big f***in’ hole, but that’s life. And I’m dealing with the f***in’ guy that likes to be in f***in’ control so I’ll have to wait for him to lighten up. Or for his missus to let him join a rock ‘n’ roll band again.
“I’m ready to go, my f***in’ suitcases are packed. I know for a fact I could still whip me a**e out of them songs. If it happens it happens if it doesn’t it doesn’t.
“In the meantime I’m doing a f***in’ record on me jacks. And that won’t be nearly as good or as important.”
While Oasis haven’t been together for over seven years, the ‘Cigarettes and Alcohol’ hitmaker still thinks they are the “best band” in the world.
Speaking to ‘Supersonic’ director Mat Whitecross for online publication Little White Lies, he said: “We’re still the best band today even though we’re not together. No one’s f***in’ come near us. Musically we were f***in’ great. Noel had the best songs, I had the best voice. We had attitude, we had flair and we didn’t give a fuck. Like it or f***in’ lump it. There was none of what’s happenin’ in today’s music where everyone’s just a f***in’ soppy little b*****d sitting there going, ‘Ohh I can’t swear, I can’t say how I’m f***in’ feeling in case I don’t get me download at the end of the week.’ Do one.”
Liam thinks the state of modern music is “rubbish” and believes artists are too worried about their public image and record sales to behave like true rock ‘n’ roll stars.
Asked what he thinks of the current music scene, he said: “It’s rubbish mate. It’s rubbish and I’ll tell you why, cos’ everyone’s got their f**in’ camera out all the time so everyone has to behave themselves.
“There’s no rock ‘n’ roll antics any more and that’s important to me cos’ it’s not just about the music y’know what I mean. Everyone just seems really f**kin’ miserable. It’s like the music industry is being run by a bunch of nuns.
“All the bands just seem to be in it for a career. That’s not me having a pop at ’em, I just think they should f**in’ be ashamed of themselves.”
But the ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Star’ hitmaker insists he wouldn’t have calmed his own behaviour if he’d been under so much scrutiny.
Instead, it would have only made him more outrageous.
He said: “If someone had put a mobile phone in my face back then I’d have f***in’ stuck it up someone’s a**ehole or I’d of ate it or something. That’s what people want from their rock ‘n’ roll bands. If you like The 1975 or whatever that’s fine but come on man, they’re just in it for the f***in’ money mate.”

John Legend was rejected by 'every major record label'

OHMYGOSSIP — John Legend was rejected by “every major record label” when he tried to break into the music industry.
The 37-year-old singer songwriter – who first signed to Kanye West’s record label GOOD Music – has admitted he struggled to make it in the music industry when he first started out as a musician but was persistent in the hope of securing a record deal.
Speaking in Issue 74 of NOTION magazine, the ‘Ordinary People’ hitmaker said: “I got turned down by every major record label who I met with – including Sony [Legend’s current record label] – and you know, I had to keep persisting despite the no’s and wait till I got to yes.”
However, Legend – who released his debut album ‘Get Lifted’ in 2004 – has admitted he thinks it was “helpful” he became famous when he had matured into an adult because he was already aware of the “real world”.
He explained: “I think it was helpful for me to become famous when I was an adult already; I was twenty-six years old. I think it’s harder for people that become famous when they’re a lot younger because you never had to be an adult without being in this very unrealistic world. It is unrealistic if you don’t know what the real world is like and me having lived in the real world for a while was very helpful.”
Meanwhile Legend – who is set to release his new single ‘Love Me Now’, which will be the first track unveiled from his upcoming fifth studio album – has teased his forthcoming LP has more of a “live band sound”.
He said: “I don’t think it’s a dramatic change.
“That’s what we focused on; trying to write great songs that told my story. It’s a bit more of a live band sound than previous albums, we used a live drummer more than we used to, so on a sonic side that’s one of the biggest differences, it gives it a more soulful feel I think.”

Speaking with Ryan Seacrest on his radio show ‘On Air with Ryan Seacrest’ on Tuesday (04.10.16), the blonde beauty said: “It’s probably the most New York-glam-pop song on the album.

Lady Gaga has also revealed her father is also referenced to on the album because she was trying to “understand him” through music.
She explained: “But I have such a rebellious spirit, and my father was always very angry. He drank because of his sister’s death. I was trying to understand him through making this record, and in that, also trying to understand why I love men that are cowboys.”
‘Joanne’ will be released on October 21.

Bastille cancel New York gig

OHMYGOSSIP — Bastille were forced to cancel their New York show last night (04.10.16).
The ‘Pompeii’ hitmakers had to postpone their concert at The Bowery Ballroom hours before they were due to play after frontman Dan Smith “strained” his voice, and the star admitted he was “reluctantly” taking medical advice to rest his vocal cords.
He wrote on his Instagram page: “Hi New York People. I’m absolutely gutted to be writing this, but unfortunately we have to reschedule tonight’s show. I’ve strained my voice and the advice I’ve been given – which we’re very reluctantly taking after deliberating all afternoon – is to postpone the show and rest my voice so it doesn’t risk further damage.
“This isn’t something we’ve ever done in years of touring so I feel very weird writing this. We’ve been so excited about playing at The Bowery again and I can’t apologise enough for messing you guys around.”
The band – who are also made up of Kyle Simmons, Will Farquarson and Chris Wood – plan to reschedule the concert.
Dan added: “We’re working on a rescheduled date which I hope you can all make. More info on that will be shared as soon as possible.
“Huge apologies again from me and the guys
“Dan x (sic)”
Bastille didn’t give any indication whether they will be able to play their show at Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall on Wednesday night (05.10.16).

Dolly Parton to receive Lifetime Achievement award at CMAs

OHMYGOSSIP — Dolly Parton is set to receive the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award at the CMAs.
The 70-year-old country legend will be given the prestigious prize at the ceremony next month in an honour bestowed upon her by the Country Music Association during the 50th Annual CMA Awards.
In a description of the accolade, the CMA said: “[The award goes to] an iconic artist who has attained the highest degree of recognition in Country Music… an artist who has achieved both national and international prominence and stature through concert performances, humanitarian efforts, philanthropy, record sales, and public representation at the highest level.”
The prize is named after the ‘Always On My Mind’ hitmaker, who was the first recipient of the gong in 2012.
Since then, Kenny Rogers has been honoured in 2013, and in 2015 the accolade went to Johnny Cash.
TV host Jimmy Kimmel broke the news to the ‘Jolene’ singer, who recalled the first time she met the 83-year-old country rocker.
She said: “Willie and I go back all the way to 1964, when I moved to Nashville. [We] got to town about the same time. We both wrote for Combine Music. He looked like a schoolteacher.”
And the ‘9 to 5’ hitmaker also recounted the time they worked together on ‘From Here to the Moon and Back’, which featured on Willie’s 2013 duets LP ‘To All the Girls…’.
She said: “We did a duet of a song I wrote, ‘From Here to the Moon and Back’. He put his vocal down first, sent it to me to go in the studio in Nashville to do my part. Trying to sing with him? I was everywhere! I called him up and said, ‘Willie, send me a sack of that grass you’re smokin’, ’cause I can’t follow you.'”
The 50th Annual CMA Awards will air live from Nashville on November 2.
