Justin Timberlake dedicates concert film to Prince

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Timberlake has dedicated his new concert film to Prince.
The 35-year-old pop star is releasing ‘Timberlake + and the Tennessee Kids’, which is a recording of the final 2015 performance of Justin’s ’20/20 Experience World Tour’ at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling’ hitmaker has made no secret of the fact that the late ‘Purple Rain’ singer’s music had a massive influence on his own career and insists it “just feels right to dedicate the film” to Prince – who passed away in April at the age of 57.
Justin said: “His influence, and I have this in common with I think every musician of my generation and the generations to come, his influence is all over everyone’s music and there’s so much that I feel like I’ve maybe consciously and unconsciously borrowed from him that it felt … right. It just feels right to dedicate the film to him.”
And director Jonathan Demme also agrees with Justin’s decision to offer the movie to the ‘Purple Rain’ songwriter.
Demme said: “The film’s been blessed with that name and that spirit.”
The film captures Justin in his element on stage entertaining his adoring fans, but he admits he was a little embarrassed to see how much he sweats when he’s on stage.
Speaking about his profuse perspiration to E!, he said: “I don’t know how you would have hid that.”
Demme added: “I love when the disco towel comes out!”
‘Justin Timberlake and the Tennessee Kids’ is to premiere on television steaming service Netflix on Wednesday October 12.
Justin’s next big screen project ‘Trolls’ – an animated movie based on the popular toy range created by Thomas Dam which has been popular in the 60s, 70s and 90s – is out in November.
Other stars to voice characters include Anna Kendrick, Gwen Stefani, Jeffrey Tambor, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, James Corden and Zooey Deschanel.

Busted announce Night Driver tour

OHMYGOSSIP —
Busted are heading out on tour in support of their forthcoming LP ‘Night Driver’.
The reunited pop rock trio – comprised of Charlie Simpson, Matt Willis and James Bourne – will perform 21 shows across the UK and Ireland including a show at London’s Hammersmith Eventim Apollo on February 3, 2017.
The string of dates follows their highly-successful ‘Pigs Can Fly’ arena tour which took place in May.
It comes hot off the release of their new single ‘On What You’re On’, which debuted a new electronic sound for the group.
‘Night Driver’ is released on November 11 and the boys teased that it will be unlike their previous material because they feel the old songs “belong to that time”.
Guitarist James said: “The last thing we wanted to do was try to recreate what we used to have.
“It belongs to that time. All real artists evolve, all real artists try things, it’s unnatural not to.”
And frontman Charlie – who quit the rock/pop group in 2005 and previously vowed never to return – added that the album is a “reflection” of themselves now.
He said: “On this record, we’re older, we’ve had completely different experiences than what we’d have been talking about ten years ago. It’s an authentic reflection of who we are today.”
The record is the follow-up to 2003’s ‘A Present for Everyone’.

John Legend: My new album is coming soon

OHMYGOSSIP — John Legend has teased his musical comeback.
The 37-year-old musician dropped new single ‘Love Me Now’ last week and has now hinted that his first album in three years, ‘Darkness & Light’, will arrive soon.
He hinted: “The album’s coming real soon, nothing is certain but I have an inkling of the date.”
The ‘All of Me’ hitmaker has taken some time out from making music to film scenes for the forthcoming movie ‘La La Land’, which stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, but has assured fans he will always put music first.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: “For me, music still comes first. I love working with my production company.
“I don’t want to do a lot of acting, but I think there are times when some of the stuff we are producing calls for me to be involved as an actor in it as well. So I’ll get involved in that way but most of the time I’m just going to be making music and going out on the road.”
The hunky pop star also said that he has no plans to stop putting records out as he still feels it is a “powerful” format despite being outdated by streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music.
He said: “For me, I still love the format of the album, as it gives you a chance to live in an artist’s vision for 45 minutes to an hour, I think that’s still such a powerful experience to have.”
John also quipped that he was penned lyrics whilst sitting on the toilet.
He laughed “I’ve definitely written some lyrics on the toilet, for sure.”
And the new album doesn’t shy away from the odd collaboration either, with names such as Chance the Rapper, Alabama Shakes, Miguel, and Blake Mills all securing guest spots on the LP.
‘Darkness & Light’ is the follow-up to 2013’s ‘Love in the Future’.

Solange tops Billboard 200 chart

OHMYGOSSIP — Solange Knowles has topped the Billboard 200 chart with ‘A Seat at the Table’.
The 30-year-old singer kept Bon Iver’s ’22, A Million’ off the number one spot, after selling 72,000 digital-only albums, ahead of Bon Iver’s 71,000.
Solange and her sister Beyonce, who topped the charts with ‘Lemonade’ earlier this year, now join an exclusive club of siblings who have both had number one albums. Others include Michael and Janet Jackson, and Master P and his brother Silkk the Shocker.
And they become the first siblings to both have number one albums in the same year since Michael and Janet reached the top spot in 2001 with ‘Invincible’ and ‘All For You’ respectively.
Solange and Beyonce’s proud mother Tina took to Instagram after the record was released, to praise her youngest daughter.
She wrote: “I’m sorry Solange I’m a let you finish , but I have to say that I have to finish and Beyonce and myself and Kelly and Angie have often had conversations about you saying “we will cherish the day that the world knows how talented and creative and amazing an artist you are”! I do believe that the day has arrived thank you Almighty God!!! You are-awesome and thank you to all the fans who supported this record you are awesome also !! (sic).”
Meanwhile, Solange recently said that there are similarities between her new record and ‘Lemonade’, which she believes is due to them growing up around the same influences.
She said: “We have the same mother and the same father. We grew up in the same household, and so we had and heard the same conversations. It shouldn’t be surprising that two people who grew up in the same household with the same parents who are very, very aware – just like everyone else is – of all of the inequalities and the pain and suffering of our people right now, would create art that reflects that.”
And she revealed how proud she is of her 35-year-old sister, saying: “I’m really proud of my sister and I’m really proud of her record and her work and I’ve always been.”

Paul McCartney opens Desert Trip set with Beatles song

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Paul McCartney opened his Desert Trip set with the Beatles’ song ‘A Hard Day’s Night’.
Paul headlined the second night of the all-star festival in Indio, California on Saturday (08.10.16), where he wowed the crowd with a mixture of Beatles, Wings and solo tracks during his set.
Highlights included ‘Day Tripper,’ ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’, ‘Lady Madonna’, ‘Eleanor Rigby’ and I’ve Got A Feeling’, while he also included an instrumental version of Jimi Hendrix’s ‘Foxy Lady’.
Paul, 74, performed ‘My Valentine’, which he wrote for his wife of five years, Nancy Shevell, and he later sang ‘Maybe I’m Amazed’, written for his late wife Linda.
Neil Young, 70, opened for Paul and he joined his pal on stage as they performed ‘A Day In The Life,’ John Lennon’s ‘Give Peace A Chance’ and ‘Why Don’t We Do It In The Road?’ together.
On Friday (07.10.16), the Rolling Stones also kicked off their show with a Beatles song.
The veteran rockers – Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood – performed a cover of ‘Come Together’ when they took to the stage on the first night of the all-star festival in Indio, California.
Mick told the crowd: “This may be strange to you now. We’re gonna do a cover song of a sort of unknown beat group. I think you might remember [them], we’re gonna try a cover of one of their tunes.”
Mick, 73, also poked fun at the advanced ages of the musicians on the bill over the weekend, saying: “Tonight we’re not going to do any age jokes or anything, OK? Welcome to the Palm Springs retirement home for gentle English musicians.”

Niall Horan: 'There are plenty more 1D concerts to come'

OHMYGOSSIP — Niall Horan says there are “plenty more One Direction shows to come”.
The 23-year-old singer recently launched his solo career with the single ‘This Town’ but insists that One Direction’s hiatus is not a permanent split and he and bandmates Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson will reunite for more concerts in the future.
When asked during an interview on ‘Most Requested Live with Romeo’ if he had to choose between playing a winning game at Augusta, one of the most famous golf courses in the world, or getting back on stage with One Direction, golf-enthusiast Niall insisted there was no need to make a choice.
He said: “There’s going to be plenty more One Direction shows, that’s a guarantee so it’s not a case of one more show. There’s definitely more than one more 1D show coming up, that’s a fact.”
However, right now Niall is concentrating on his solo career and he is thrilled with the reception to his new track.
He said: “I’ve been sitting on it since March so it’s exciting to have it finally out there for everyone to hear.
“‘This Town’ was actually one of the first new songs that I wrote where I thought, ‘Oh actually maybe I can do something with this’.”
And he says the recording process was different to what he is used to.
He explained: “It was strange. The vocal on the track, that was take number two. I’ve never done a straight vocal before, that was the maddest part. It was daunting.”
Before launching his solo career, Niall enjoyed some time off to travel and spend time with his loved ones and he was thrilled to have a few relaxing months after a busy schedule with One Direction over the past few years.
He said: “That’s the best part, being able to do the things I haven’t been able to do and go home and see everyone. And to also do some writing.”

Craig David: I've helped connect two different generations

OHMYGOSSIP — Craig David feels like his comeback has helped to connect two different generations of music fans.
The 35-year-old singer has achieved his first UK number one album since ‘Born To Do It’ in 2000 with his new record ‘Following My Intuition’ – and Craig thinks his fanbase now spans different generations.
He said: “I’m seeing two generations connecting – the people who have been with me since 1999 and the crew who are just discovering me, both connecting on the same music.”
Despite the popularity of some of his most-recent tracks, Craig admitted to being overwhelmed by the support of his fans.
He told the BBC: “Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. I don’t know what’s going on right now.”
The album success comes shortly after Craig revealed his ambition to headline Glastonbury.
The singer said he is hoping to be given a slot on the Pyramid stage at the world famous festival.
Craig said: “I’d love to headline in the Pyramid Stage, that’s one of my main goals. I played for the first time last year and the place erupted. Doing it on an even bigger stage would be an honour.”
The ‘Fill Me In’ hitmaker made his Glastonbury debut last year on the Silver Hayes stage and he relished the experience.
He added: “Literally when I was on stage I looked out, from where I was the crowd didn’t end for what looked like a mile from where I was. I was just like, ‘This is Glastonbury!’
“I had this applause at the end, people clapping but it was getting louder and louder. I was like, ‘What is happening here?’
“I have so much love for Glastonbury.”

Alex James: 'Precious' Oasis should reform

OHMYGOSSIP — Alex James thinks it would be a “disaster” if Liam and Noel Gallagher decided not to reform their band Oasis.
The 44-year-old former Beady Eye frontman has made no secret of the fact he’d restart the group “tomorrow” if his older brother – who he fell out with in 2009 and has had a bitter feud with ever since – decided to jump on board.
And the Blur singer – whose band split in 2003 but reformed in 2008 – really hopes the related rivals can put their differences aside for the sake of their “precious” talent.
Speaking to Yahoo Celeb, Alex, 47, said: “I really do hope they do get back together. It’s a wonderful thing. When you’ve got something that’s so important in your life it’s really horrible to be estranged from it really.
“It is kind of heartbreaking. It would be a shame to think it was lying dormant or it was never going to happen again. It’s a really precious thing, it’s a craft and it would be a disaster to think it would go to waste.”
Alex’s determination to bring the brothers back together for the sake of music will no doubt come as a surprise to fans seeing as Blur and Oasis were once huge rivals, but he’s adamant they now have a lot of respect for each other.
He explained when asked if he bumps into Liam or Noel: “Yeah occasionally, I think both bands sort of really earned each other’s respect in the end. I certainly respect them.”
Since Blur – comprised of Alex, Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon and Dave Rowntree – reformed eight years ago, they continue to sell out gigs but Alex accepts that they may never write music like they did when they were younger.
He said: “Pop music is the dreams of youth expressed by the voices of youth. I think a lot of people in bands can suffer because if success is going to come in music it tends to come quite quickly and quite young. And you can spend the rest of your life being defined by something you did when you were really, really young. A lot of people in bands suffer with that, you know Led Zeppelin aren’t going to write another ‘Stairway To Heaven’ are they?
“But I do sort of firmly believe that I might invent the best cheese in the world, ever.”

Chance The Rapper keen for more Kanye West collaborations

OHMYGOSSIP — Chance The Rapper could make a collaboration album with Kanye West.
The hip-hop duo – who have previously worked together on Kanye’s ‘Life of Pablo’ track ‘Ultralight Beam’ and ‘All We Got’ from Chance’s latest record ‘Coloring Book’ – have spoken at length about the possibility of making an album together called ‘Good Ass Job’.
Chance shared: “We were working a while ago – I came to his spot probably the day before me and the band [The Social Experiment] released ‘Surf’ in 2015 – and we had a long sit-down and talk and he did some narration for ‘Surf’ that we decided not to use but was so dope.
“And after that, the next time we met up I was starting my ‘Coloring Book’ project and we talked about collabing, and I brought up ‘Good Ass Job’ to him. And, you know, we talked about it, and during ‘Coloring Book’ we worked on a few songs that didn’t make it on the project.
“And there’s one that I will say is very crucial. It’s a very dark cut.”
However, Chance admitted that despite being a friend of Kanye, he does not know what the outspoken rap star has planned next.
He told Billboard: “I have no idea the timeline of Kanye albums. Kanye, from what I’ve heard from the media, he has a ‘Turbo Grafx’ album, right?
“He has a Drake album, and he has ‘Cruel Winter’. What I’m talking about is something me and Kanye talked about in the studio and worked on as a skeletal track, you know?
“It could only be for ‘Good Ass Job’. It definitely is not for any of those three albums that I just talked about.”

Emeli Sande wants her album to inspire women

OHMYGOSSIP — Emeli Sande wants her new album to inspire women to tell the truth.
The ‘Read All About It’ hitmaker performed her LP ‘Long Live the Angels’ at St John at Hackney in London on Thursday night (06.10.16) and opened up about the message in her fresh batch of songs.
Speaking to the Metro newspaper, Emeli said: “The message of the album for me is just you gotta tell the truth, you don’t have to be ladylike about it but tell the truth and stand up for what you believe in. We can’t be passive anymore.”
Emeli endured a shock split from her childhood sweetheart Adam Gouraguine in 2014, after just 12 months of marriage.
Speaking about where the album concept came from, the Scottish singer/songwriter explained: “The whole kind of concept is a heavy dark time and I feel that truth and love and honesty, it’s kind of not encouraged any more, it’s under attack if anything.”
Emeli hopes that her album can reach out to anyone who feels like they don’t have a voice in society.
Emeli’s latest work follows on from her debut ‘Our Version of Events’ which went on to become a global success.
The success of her first LP made Emeli worry about her follow-up record but her trusted producer Naughty Boy and her sister helped her calm down about her new collection of tracks.
She told Apple Music Beats 1 radio: “I got stressed out thinking about it. I hung out with Naughty Boy and my sister and they were like ‘Listen, you need to chill out, just go back to how you made it the last time.’ ”

Pitbull wasn't worried about pop switch

OHMYGOSSIP — Pitbull didn’t worry about losing credibility when he switched from rap to pop.
The 35-year-old musician originally started out as a rap artist but when he made the switch to more mainstream pop he saw his fan base explode and earnings increase and he’s very happy he did change genres.
In an interview with The I newspaper, Pitbull said: “People thought it would take away from my credibility, but if you’re worried about your credibility, you were never credible in the first place. It created new fans, it created a whole new genre of music.”
He added: “The things I was seeing on the streets, I was painting in my records. Everyone was doing the same hustle. I had to find something different.”
Pitbull has used his success to give back to his community where he grew up in Miami. He has helped build a school and opened the Sports Leadership And Management Academy (Slam) in Miami’s Little Havana Area in 2013.
He explained: “I wanted to give the kids a safe spot. A lot of them come from broken homes. They love to be around people who believe in them and want to see them succeed.”
And his new album ‘Climate Change’ follows on from his other LP’s ‘Global Warming’ and ‘Globalization’ which he hopes will help people in another way.
He added: “I didn’t think I could make a record about climate change and people are going to listen to it, so I’d rather give them a record that they can use to escape, dance and have fun but at the same time there is a deeper message.”

The three artists, along with Clean Bandit – who will be singing at the event for the first time when they team up with Best Newcomer nominee Anne-Marie – will join previously-announced duo Chase & Status in playing at the awards, which take place on November 4 at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow.
The ‘When The Bassline Drops’ hitmaker – who is nominated for Best Male and Best Song – is thrilled to be making a return to the awards ceremony after first wowing the show in 2000.
He said: “I first performed at the MOBO Awards 16 years ago and walked away with three awards that night. I’m back with new music and it’s only right that I celebrate this by joining MOBO as they celebrate their 21st birthday.”

Laura and Kano lead the nominations with four each, with Skepta narrowly behind with three nods.

Justin Timberlake is a 'softie'

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Timberlake gets emotional looking out at his fans on stage.
The 35-year-old singer is a “softie” and can’t help but being overwhelmed by the “energy” and the fact people have chosen to see him as a way to escape and “check out from life”, while also wanting to engage and connect with his performance.
He said: “I’m a softie. It happens some nights because you’re only one man standing up there, and you’re getting all of this. I feel like I look out in the crowd and see all these different walks of life, ages, sexes, races, and it makes me wonder, ‘What are they going through? What is their life like?’
“We think we go to concerts so we can check out from life, but the truth is we want to relate; we want to connect. You say, ‘Oh, I need a night out,” and you think you’re going away from your life.
“But you show up there and sing these lyrics, and even though they remind you of your life, you’re thinking somewhere in the back of your mind, ‘Five years from now, I’m gonna remember this moment.’
“There’s all that energy: the synchronized clapping, the lyrics you wrote in a box of a room being sung back to you with such joy — it’s a lot to take in.”
Justin’s upcoming concert film, ‘Justin Timberlake + The Tennessee Kids’ features the final stop of his ’20/20 Experience World Tour’ in Las Vegas and he is glad they chose the last shows because he had been through so much with his band by that point.
He told Billboard: “When you spend two years with people, there’s good and bad scar tissue, right? More texture, more wrinkles and more heart because of all that shared experience. I’m glad we did it this way.”

Robbie WIlliams not friends with Take That

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams isn’t “friends” with the rest of Take That.
The 42-year-old singer previously reunited with his former group for a tour and album in 2011 and is expected to do so again in the future, and though he knows he’ll always have a bond with Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and former member Jason Orange, he doesn’t know when he’ll work with them again because he is a “lone wolf”.
Discussing getting back with Take That again, he said: “I’m agoraphobic so I’m a lone wolf — which sounds appealing but isn’t. I do have an email relationship with the boys but a friendship? There’s an eternal bond that will go on until we all pass away but I’m not friends with anybody apart from the wife and the kids.”
The ‘Party Like A Russian’ singer – who has children Teddy, four, and Charlton, 23 months, with wife Ayda Field – admitted he has a number of regrets about his career and can’t bear playing his hugely successful single ‘Millennium’ live.
He told The Sun newspaper: “When people say they have no regrets they don’t know what the f*** they’re talking about.
“There’s so many things I would’ve done differently. Like ‘Millennium’. It’s one of my greatest hits but I wouldn’t play that song again if it was up to me.
“‘Millennium’? What the f*** does that mean? On my last tour I added the beat of Jay Z’s ’99 Problems’, just to make it more interesting for me to perform. But it’s not about me. I’m not there to be entertained. I’m here to entertain. That’s my job.”
Robbie has worked with collaborator Guy Chambers – his co-writer on his chart-topping first five albums before they fell out – on his new album ‘Heavy Entertainment Show’ after they resolved their differences in 2012.
And the ‘Angels’ hitmaker now attributes their feud to him feeling unappreciated and their early success “running away” with Guy.
He said: “I’ve always loved Guy, he is my musical brother but I think the success of our first albums ran away with him a little bit. And it annoyed me. I wasn’t getting enough recognition, which was important to me then.
“When our musical relationship broke up I discussed it with him. Well, it wasn’t a discussion. It was me shouting and pointing my finger at him while he cowered in a corner. But now Guy knows what I bring to the table and we have love and respect for each other.”

John Legend unveils new single 'Love Me Now'

OHMYGOSSIP — John Legend has unveiled his new single ‘Love Me Now’.
The 37-year-old musician first teased the single earlier on Thursday (06.10.16) when he took to Instagram to share a snippet of love song in a video that saw him sing some of the lyrics.
The caption on the video read: “My new single ‘Love Me Now’ is coming this Friday! Tune into my Facebook LIVE premiere of#LoveMeNow this Thursday at 10:30pm ET. (sic)”
After the premiere of the single, the ‘All of Me’ hitmaker stuck around for a Q&A session with his fans where he branded his upcoming album ‘Darkness & Light’ his “best work yet”.
He said: “The music is really, really, good. I think it’s my best work yet.
“It’s not really preachy. I don’t like to preach too much in my songs. I preach in my tweets.”
And the new album – which is yet to have a release date – doesn’t shy away from the odd collaboration either, with names such as Chance the Rapper, Alabama Shakes, Miguel, and Blake Mills all securing guest spots on the LP.
The ‘Tonight’ singer also treated fans to a live performance of his heartfelt new ballad, with his wife Chrissy Teigen – with whom he had his first child Luna in April – giving him a cheer at the end.
John then told the camera: “It’s weird doing it without an audience here. But I’m sure you’re out there.”
The sensual artwork for ‘Love Me Now’ features Chrissy, 30, alongside John himself. The pair married in 2013, and between producing work for American slavery drama ‘Underground’ and the Obamas’ love story ‘Southside With You’, this marks the first piece of new music the star has released in those three years since his marriage.
‘Love Me Now’ is out now.
