Camila Cabello releasing solo single with Machine Gun Kelly

OHMYGOSSIP — Camila Cabello is to release a solo single with Machine Gun Kelly.
The Fifth Harmony singer has teamed up with the 26-year-old rapper for her second song without her bandmates – after she released ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ with Shawn Mendes – on the track called ‘Bad Things’, which comes out on Friday (14.10.16).
The 19-year-old beauty took to Twitter to share lyrics from the song in a moving clip, which read: “Am I out of my head? Am I out of my mind?”
The new song comes a month after Camila – who is joined by Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui in the girl group – was forced to pull out of the ‘Work from Home’ hitmakers’ concert in Missouri due to anxiety.
However, she managed to make her return for their Dallas show a few days later on September 9th.
Camila previously took to Snapchat to say sorry to fans after she left her bandmates to perform without her.
She said: “Hi Missouri, sorry I couldn’t finish the set last night. Was having too much anxiety and couldn’t finish it. I love u. I’m truly sorry. (sic)”
Meanwhile, Camila previously admitted she suffered from “terrible nonstop anxiety” during their rise to fame.
She shared: “I’ll start with the low because that led to the high. I was having terrible anxiety, nonstop. My heart would beat really fast the whole day. Two hours after I woke up, I’d need a nap because my body was so hyperactive.
“It was so f***ed up. I was scared of what would happen to me, of the things my brain might tell me. I realised the stuff I thought was important isn’t worth my health. Now I write in a diary every day, work out and meditate.”

Badly Drawn Boy impressed by Zayn Malik's anxiety honesty

OHMYGOSSIP — Badly Drawn Boy has praised Zayn Malik and Ellie Goudling for sharing their mental illness struggles with the world.
The ‘Once Around the Block’ singer – real name Damon Gough – has battled depression throughout his career and he believes his symptoms were intensified by his gruelling touring schedule and the loneliness he felt on the road when he was away from his children.
Former One Direction star Zayn has been open about his anxiety attacks which have stopped him from performing as a solo artist, while Ellie has blamed life on the road on her ‘Delirium World Tour’ on her being signed off with exhaustion earlier this year.
Damon believes their openness about their problems will help any of their fans going through the same things and hopefully inspire them to seek the help they need.
When asked if the pop pair’s openness is a good thing, the songwriter said: “I think in the last 15 to 20 years a lot has changed in a lot of ways, especially with regards to mental health … People don’t generally empathise with people in the public eye, whether they’re Zayn Malik or anyone else, because they think everything is fine for them, they’re like, ‘You’ve got loads of money mate.’ But money only does so much, it just facilitates things in your life, but it doesn’t solve inner problems and everybody has got those to deal with no matter walk of life they’re in. I don’t think I was ever scared of my personal situation 15 years ago, I probably just wasn’t aware of it, I think the depression was there before for me. I admit my life has been great and being comfortable financially does help you take the world on and its challenges. But you can only really take the challenges on when you’re happy with you are and that can take a lot of time to learn. I’m getting there definitely, especially in the last few years … Living the life you lead when your famous and touring the world and being away from home, intensifies the feelings you were having anyway. My kids are nearly 15 and 16 now and my early stages of being on tour in America and Europe and Japan was hard; it was tough being away from my children when they were young. Everything sort of happened at once for me so you have no way of learning what you’re doing, you just have to deal with it and learn on the spot. It’s the same for a lot of people in this type of job.”
One of Damon’s musical heroes is Bruce Springsteen and he was “comforted” to discover ‘The Boss’ had experience his own battles with depression.
The 44-year-old musician got to meet Bruce, 67, after a concert he played in Manchester and he took the opportunity to thank him for his honesty about his illness.
Damon explained: “Recently, Bruce Springsteen admitted he’s had depression. I met him when he played in Manchester and I thanked him for bringing that up. I’ve been a fan of his since I was a teenager and when someone else mentions that they have a similar issue it’s comforting.”
Damon is getting ready to perform at the unique See Through Sound Concert at Cadogan Hall in London this Friday (14.10.16) at which he will be joined on the bill by Kevin Simm and Newton Faulkner among others .
The show is being held in support of Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and audience members will be given ‘sim specs’ (glasses simulating sight-loss) to wear on the evening to give them an insight into life with sight-loss.
Damon intends to perform at least part of his set whilst wearing the ‘sim specs’ and thinks it will be a unique experience for everyone involved.
He said: “I think it’s going to be such a rewarding experience. The audience is going to be wearing glasses to emulate what it’s like to be blind and I think I’ll be doing it on stage too. I feel like I’m there to learn and anything that helps you learn is worth doing.”

Jamie T postpones tour dates due to illness

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie T has had to postpone a series of tour dates due to illness.
The 30-year-old British singer/songwriter is currently on his UK and Ireland ‘Trick’ tour and after already calling off his third scheduled night at the O2 Academy Brixton he has now had to reschedule his shows in Bournemouth and Liverpool this week due to a “bout of flu”.
Revealing what’s wrong in a handwritten note on his Twitter account, the ‘Power Over Men’ singer shared: “I’m sorry to say that I’m still unwell. It’s nothing serious, just a bout of flu that’s affected my voice. The doctor has ordered me to rest my voice for a few days (sic)”
Further to his note, Jamie apologised for having to cancel more upcoming shows but assured his fans he will be back at those venues.
He continued: “All shows that have been postponed are being rescheduled as we speak so don’t worry. My apologies to anyone who was counting on these dates. I wish I could solider on but the vocals need rest to rock again (sic)”
Jamie previously took five years out from the music business due to his anxiety going “through the roof” in the wake of the success of his first two albums, 2007’s ‘Panic Prevention’ and 2009’s ‘Kings and Queens’.
Jamie returned with his third album ‘Carry on the Grudge’ in 2014 before bringing out ‘Trick’ in September and although he is now in a position to be on stage he readily admits he still finds crowds “difficult”.

Nicki Minaj planning three more albums

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicki Minaj will “feel complete” if she does three more albums.
The ‘Superbass’ hitmaker has teased she may turn to acting full time once she releases three more LPs.
She told the November issue of Marie Claire magazine: “I at least want to do three more albums. If I can do that, I’ll feel complete.
“One day, when I start getting a couple gray hairs, maybe it will all be only acting. I just never know … I’ve kind of become the poster child for doing the things that no one expects.”
Things are going well for the 33-year-old rapper in her personal life too and her boyfriend Meek Mill previously revealed they have a “dream” relationship.
He said: “I wake up in my bed and I just look at Nicki like, ‘Man, this s**t has gotta be a dream because we used to dream all this s**t and it’s just going on right now.’ I always seen it like this. I always seen it like me having one of the top hustling, prettiest girls in the game. That’s how my account was set up.
“Where I come from. I can’t just be from the hood and have a total opposite girlfriend, she don’t know nothing about where I come from. She don’t understand me. Somebody that’ll understand me. Somebody that hustle. You know what I’m saying? Somebody that’s aggressive. These are things I like.”
However, it may be some time before the couple have children as Nicki previously revealed she wants to get married before having a baby.
When asked when she would be having a “little Nicki”, she told the fan: “When I walk down a little aisle and wear a little white dress.”

Joe Jonas was 'envious' of Nick Jonas going solo

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Jonas was “envious” of his brother Nick going solo.
The DNCE singer has opened up about the breakup of the Jonas Brothers – who went their separate ways in 2013 – and revealed at the time he was having therapy and wasn’t speaking to the ‘Jealous’ hitmaker and his brother Kevin.
Answering fans’ questions in a Reddit AMA, he shared: “I was seeing a therapist and I wasn’t on speaking terms with my brothers. And maybe I was a little envious of Nick because I knew that he already had kind of a leg up and had plans to work on music already and he was creating and producing… I closed myself off and we cancelled the tour and didn’t really know what was going on.”
It comes after Kevin, 28, said he thinks being related pulled apart the group.
He previously said: “I think we had a different connection just because we were brothers.
“When we were on the road or at home, we were still together, and I think that made us stronger. But at the same time, I think that’s what pulled it apart, which I think is inevitable when you’re working with your family for so long.”
Meanwhile, Joe has said he is thankful the current climate within the music industry allowed him to reinvent himself.
He said: “[I wanted to form another band during Jonas Brothers] but the time never seemed right.
“[I’m thankful] we’ve come to a place where you can re-create yourself in the music industry.”

Master P: The game is missing Solange

OHMYGOSSIP — Master P says the music industry has been “missing” Solange Knowles.
The 49-year-old record producer teamed up with the 30-year-old singer, the younger sister of Beyonce, on her Billboard 200 chart-topping LP ‘A Seat at the Table’ and says her success has long been overdue.
He said: “Solange is someone I think the game is missing.
“People been talking about Beyonce, even though Beyonce is a big star but Solange been working hard too.”
“She’s been putting together her team of people and I feel like we all a part of that support team.”
The president of No Limit Records, whose real name is Percy Miller – also thinks the ‘Losing You’ hitmaker is a role model for other female musicians and has proved that she can shine despite being in the “shadows” of her multi-award-winning superstar sibling.
He told Billboard magazine: “I think all women should chase their dreams and goals too. She’s gonna be motivation for women that have been through a lot and want more out of life without being in the shadows of someone else. I think it’s good for the culture and I’m glad I was a part of it.”
Solange – who released her debut LP ‘Solo Star’ in 2003 – has also taken to Twitter to thank her fans for her third album reaching number one.
The brunette beauty says that making the record has made her a “better” person and is the most important art she has made.
In a series of tweets, she wrote: “Also, thank YOU guys so much for this. Truly only a testament to your connection to the music and the storytelling. I thank you for this … And I thank you and everyone else who has been a voice for the project … endlessly. So much gratitude. All love … all love … but most of all. I feel like a better human after releasing A Seat AT The Table. A better woman, a better mom, a better wife, Thank You. (sic)”

Jess Glynne working with Beyoncé songwriter

OHMYGOSSIP — Jess Glynne is working with Beyoncé producer Toby Gad on her new album.
The ‘Hold My Hand’ hitmaker’s long-time collaborator, Janee Bennett, has revealed work has already started on the pop beauty’s second studio album and she has songwriter Gad, who co-wrote the R&B superstar’s massive hit ‘If I Were a Boy’, on board.
Jess has also recruited EDM star Skrillex – most noted for collaborating with Justin Bieber and Diplo on ‘Where Are Ü Now’ – and PARTYNEXTDOOR, who wrote Rihanna and Drake’s smash hit ‘Work’.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Janee said: “We’ve started [Jess’] new album now. We’ve been working with some amazing producers and writers, including Toby Gad – who’s done loads with Beyoncé – Skrillex and PARTYNEXTDOOR. I’ve been doing quite a few things with Jess for the second album.”
Janee – who has also worked with Olly Murs and Little Mix – says Jess’ follow-up to 2015’s ‘I Cry When I Laugh’ will continue to focus on the 26-year-old singer’s real life experiences, which makes her easy to work with.
She explained: “When we first started out writing with Jess, it wasn’t the intention to have a particular sound,” Janee explained.
“It’s literally about her life and what she’s going through. She always remains true to that and what she wants to say, so it makes it a bit easier as a writer.
“When somebody has such a clear vision, it makes it much more enjoyable collaborating with them.”
The ‘Real Love’ star has made no secret of her admiration for Beyoncé and admitted she isn’t “psychotic” but if she had the chance to be invisible, she would use her new-found super-power to spend a day with her idol.
She previously said: “If I was invisible for a day, I’d probably follow Beyoncé around as she’s my hero.
“I wouldn’t break into her house or anything – I’m not psychotic.”

The Strokes confirm work on sixth album

OHMYGOSSIP — The Strokes’ Nick Valensi has confirmed they are working on a new album.
The 35-year-old guitarist says the group are in the “early stages” of writing for their first full-length since 2013’s ‘Comedown Machine’ and are tucked away in a studio in New York.
Speaking to DIY magazine, he shared: “We are slowly but surely working on an album. I don’t know when it’s going to be released, we’re kind of just in writing sessions. We’re writing. I’m actually in New York at the moment, at a studio in New York for that.”
The ‘Last Nite’ hitmakers – also comprised of Julian Casablancas, Albert Hammond Jr., Nikolai Fraiture and Fabrizio Moretti – unveiled new single ‘Threat of Joy’ earlier this year, and at the time, frontman Julian hinted that the indie rock band would tour if they record their sixth album.
He said: “I don’t think there’s anything planned, but, I mean, we always do stuff.
“No specific news, sorry. It’s never… I feel like we play every year or two years or something like that. I think the idea was if we can get our stuff together to do a record, we can do more proper tours.”
But the 37-year-old singer admitted he is “in a bubble” and tries to avoid the commercial side of the group’s music once it has been recorded.
When asked if it felt good to release music again, he replied: “I mean, sure, I don’t know. I’m in a bubble. I don’t know, I try not to pay attention. I worked on it and it’s done. I don’t, like, check the internet or anything.”

Norah Jones: I'm no jazz musician

OHMYGOSSIP — Norah Jones always “corrects people” from labelling her as a jazz musician “out of respect” for the genre.
The 37-year-old singer/songwriter is a massive fan of the style of music, so much so she used to consider herself a “jazz snob” during her younger years, but doesn’t think her records do the description justice.
She said: “I come from that world. I used to be a jazz snob when I was younger. If I heard something I did classified as jazz, I’d be like, ‘That’s not jazz.’ Any time I’ve corrected people from labelling me jazz.
“It’s been out of respect for that music, not because I have a problem with being labelled that way. I really don’t.”
Norah doesn’t agree with classifying an artist with a certain genre and loves experimenting on her records.
Speaking about the style of her latest album, ‘Day Breaks’, she said: “Let’s just call it music. I don’t see why you can’t just do different things all the time.”
Norah teamed up with the likes of rapper Common and drummer Karriem Riggins on her latest record, and admits she enjoys performing with versatile artists.
She added to Vogue.com: “I love playing with musicians who can do anything.
“Then you’re not limited when you go in.”
Norah has sold more than 45 million records worldwide throughout her career and won a host of awards, including nine Grammys, but recently admitted she was “way more” ambitious before she was famous.
She said: “It happened too fast. It felt insane and stressful, people knowing who you are, people critiquing you. And then the haters come out and hate you, and you’re like, ‘this is what people dream of, so why does it feel so weird?'”

Sting is honoured with the BMI Icon Award

OHMYGOSSIP — Sting was honoured with the BMI Icon Award on Monday (10.10.16).
The 65-year-old singer songwriter received the accolade during the 2016 BMI London Awards, which took place at London’s The Dorchester hotel last night, and has admitted he feels privileged his songs have been a “soundtrack” for people’s lives, although he thinks his title is “premature”.
On receiving the award, the ‘Englishman in New York’ hitmaker said: “Your real job as a songwriter is to provide a soundtrack to people’s emotional lives, touchstones for their emotional landscapes, their memories. And that’s an unexpected and unanticipated honour as well as a privilege.”
However, the star doesn’t credit himself as an icon.
He said: “Don’t call me an icon, please. I don’t want to be called an icon. … It’s a bit premature, it’s very nice.”
The musician – who was formerly a band member in the popular English rock band The Police – was recognised for the title because of his “indelible influence” on musicians throughout his 40-year run at the helm of the music industry.
BMI President and CEO Mike O’Neill presented Sting with the award, which has previously been gained by Bryan Ferry, Queen and Sir Tim Rice.
He said: “[Sting’s] unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers.”
After receiving the prestigious gong, Sting performed a rendition of ‘Message In A Bottle’, which was followed by a debut performance of a track on his upcoming album ’57th & 9th’ called ‘Heading South On The Great North Road’ before ending his short set with The Police’s 1983 hit ‘Every Breath You Take’.
The music bash also celebrated Ed Sheeran, who received the Song of the Year Award for his 2014 track ‘Thinking Out Loud’, whilst Rudimental landed the Pop Award for ‘Lay It On Me’, which the flame-haired vocalist co-wrote with the group.
Meanwhile, Snow Patrol were credited with the BMI Million-Air Award for their 2006 hit record ‘Chasing Cars’, alongside Sir Paul McCartney for his 1976 song ‘Live and Let Die, Howard Jones’ ‘No One Is To Blame’ and Elton John for ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’ and ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’.

Katie Melua says her breakdown was a 'wake-up call'

OHMYGOSSIP — Katie Melua says being hospitalised in 2010 was “one of the best things” that has happened to her.
The ‘Closest Thing to Crazy’ hitmaker spent six weeks in hospital after having a breakdown and suffering from exhaustion and while it was a scary time in her life she looks back on it in a positive light because it made her realise she isn’t invincible and able to do everything.
In an interview with The Independent newspaper, she admitted: “It was one of the best things that ever happened to me. It was petrifying, but it put a stop to the fantasies of being able to do anything. The oddest thing about this job is the sense of superiority you get It was a huge wake-up call.”
The Georgia-born beauty is gearing up to release her new LP ‘In Winter’ on Friday (14.10.16) and has teamed up with the Gori Women’s Choir – a group of 23 female singers, who are masters of the Georgian tradition of polyphonic singing – for the record and Katie, 32, says they taught her that music is the most important thing, not having an ego.
Reflecting on that time in her life, she said: “I was completely out of it for two weeks, and in hospital for six. There was a bunch of things going on, things at home and crazy work schedules, and you really believe the world revolved around you and it doesn’t.
“What I’ve picked up from working with the women in the Gori choir is that they don’t have egos. All that matters is the music.”
Katie will head out on a tour in support of the new album – her first since 2013’s ‘Ketevan’ – with the Gori Choir in November.

Radiohead's Ed O'Brien recording solo LP

OHMYGOSSIP — Radiohead star Ed O’Brien is releasing a solo album next year.
The 48-year-old guitarist is recording his first LP away from the band and he wants to indulge his inner rock god.
In an interview with UK radio station BBC 6 Music, he revealed: “We’ve attempted to do something like a full solo album – you know, stand there on the mountaintop with the hair going and the Les Paul and create a whole Ed O’Brien. I haven’t up until two years ago but I am going to now. I’m gonna do one next year.”
Ed first got the idea for the record while he was living in Brazil with his wife Susan Kobrin and their two children, son Salvador, 13, and daughter Oona, 10.
The family lived in the countryside of the South American nation and the simplicity of his life their inspired him to write the bulk of the songs that will feature on his solo album.
He shared: “It starts in Brazil … the kids were born 2004 and 2006. And I said to the guys, in five years time, me and my wife are gonna go and live in Brazil for a year … I was really aware that I’d had so many adventures with this band; I wanted to have an adventure with my family … So we went to live in Brazil, in the middle of the Brazilian countryside, and we lived on a little farm in basically a hut. Life was really simple. The kids went to the local school. No one could speak English, so they picked it up, the language of play and stuff. And life was reduced to its simple parts. For me, it was music and my family. And I would go each day, walk up the hill to this beautiful little hut next to this lake, and I started writing. All I wanted to do was sit there and play guitar.”
Ed also took a trip to Brazil’s famous Rio Carnival and the joyful nature of the music that is played at the event had a “profound” effect on him and he wants to replicate that on his solo tracks.
Radiohead – fronted by Thom Yorke – released their latest album, ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’, in May.
