Kings of Leon announce surprise London show

OHMYGOSSIP — Kings of Leon have announced a surprise show in London on Tuesday night (18.10.16).
The ‘Sex on Fire’ hitmakers will perform at the intimate 229 club on Great Portland Street to celebrate the release of their new album ‘WALLS’.
Tickets go on sale at 1pm and those wanting to catch their set at the small venue will only be able to purchase a single ticket.
However, there will be the chance to win tickets on the band’s social media channels.
Meanwhile, the indie rock group – comprised of brothers Caleb, Jared and Nathan Followill and their cousin Matthew Followill – are dead set on playing Glastonbury Festival, which is held at Worthy Farm in Somerset, south west England, next year because it is due to go on a break in 2018.
Singer Caleb told the BBC: “We love Glastonbury.
“I think that was the first festival we played in Europe. Do they still do it where it’s on one year, off one year to the grass grow? … OK, then we’ll have to get on it in 2017. I’ll have to text Mr Eavis.”
The band last headlined the music extravaganza in 2008.
Kings of Leon worked on the follow-up to 2013’s ‘Mechanical Bull’ with Coldplay and Florence + The Machine’s producer, Markus Dravs.
The album is full of “personal stories” including a song about Caleb’s alcohol addiction and a haunted house stay experienced by his wife Lily Aldridge.
The 34-year-old rocker previously explained: “There are a lot of personal stories on this album… We’re still hungry and still young at heart.”
He says his supermodel spouse’s brush with the supernatural inspired love song ‘Find Me’.
He said: “She stayed in this hotel in Los Angeles. This is going to sound weird and a lot of people will roll their eyes, but she felt like it was haunted. When she tells the story, it’s the scariest thing. So I took that and turned it into a love story.”
‘WALLS’ is out now.

Paolo Nutini's only festival performances of 2016

OHMYGOSSIP — Paolo Nutini is to perform two shows for Edinburgh’s Hogmanay.
The ‘New Shoes’ hitmaker is to take to the stage at the ‘Night Afore Concert with Paolo Nutini’ at West Princes Street Gardens in the Scottish capital on December 30 and December 31, due to the demand for tickets.
The 29-year-old Scottish singer found out that that the first show had sold out while in the desert and is “overwhelmed” that so many fans are keen to see him play.
He said: “I was in the desert when I heard about the response to the first show. I was overwhelmed and am incredibly grateful for the support of all you great people. I was then asked if we would do a preceding show on the 30th as there could be others who never got tickets. I said I was up for it and I hope that we get to play to as many as we can that weekend.”
Paolo is looking forward to ringing in the New Year to celebrate the good things that have happened this year and to put to bed all of the “sh***” that has gone on in the world over the last 12 months.
He’s also teased there will be some support acts for the concerts announced “soon”.
He added: “It will be a time to make some music, have a dance and celebrate a lot the good that’s been done this year and hopefully celebrate a lot of the sh*** being resigned to the past. Also, there will be more acts to be announced as soon as possible. Happy Daze. Can’t wait.”
Tickets will go on sale at 10.00am on Friday 21 October through www.edinburghshogmanay.com

Lady Gaga unveils new single A-YO

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga has unveiled her new single ‘A-YO’ from her eagerly-anticipated fifth studio LP ‘Joanne’.
The 30-year-old pop beauty is to drop the second song from her new record at 12pm [9am PST] on Tuesday (18.10.16).
Sharing the artwork on Instagram, in which she is topless and covers her face in an oversized camel-coloured hat, Gaga wrote: “A-YO out 9pm PST tomorrow! The next sneak peak into the world of #JOANNE !! #AYO #JoanneVibes #LadyGaga #newmusic (sic)”
Gaga – whose real name is Stefani Germanotta – sings on the track: “Can’t wait to rev you up faster than you say Ferrari … Tearin’ up the gravel, watching you unravel – now it’s a party.”
And on the chorus, she belts out: “Light me up, I’m breathin’, mirror on the ceiling/A-YO, A-YO.”
The ‘Poker Face’ singer says the song is inspired by country music legends including Johnny Cash but she insists she doesn’t consider herself to be a country artist.
Of her influences on the song, she told Rolling Stone magazine: “I have a general deep respect for all country musicians, but I myself am not a country musician. I’m just a musician period. I love all different kinds of music and this is just what I wrote.
“Everyone thinks of rock ‘n’ roll and country in different ways. Rock ‘n’ roll, country and blues – they all have babies. So I love Johnny Cash, I love Neil Young. I love Garth Brooks.”
Meanwhile, Gaga recently admitted she finds it difficult to write music when she gets caught up in “negative thoughts”.
‘Joanne’ is a tribute to her father’s sister, who died from lupus when she was just 19, and Gaga has explained she finds it hard to work when all she can think about is her “own trauma”.
She said: “I get blocked by my own trauma sometimes.
“The darkness, the loop of negative thoughts on repeat, clamours and interferes with the music I hear in my head. When I’m making music, I can hear all the parts, all the instruments. I can hear what it should be.”
‘Joanne’ – the follow-up to 2014’s ‘Artpop’ – is released on Friday (21.10.16).

ABBA could be reuniting in virtual 3D form

OHMYGOSSIP — ABBA are set to reunite – in virtual 3D form.
The Swedish pop superstars split up in 1982 after 10 years together and have been the subject of reformation rumours for years, and now it seems fans who want to see the quartet back on stage could get their wish, thanks to Spice Girls’ former manager Simon Fuller.
The pop mogul is said to have been in talks with former members Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson about a hologram-based stage show, though discussions are currently in the “early stages”.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “It’s all in the early stages at the moment. Using holograms on stage is not a new thing concept. The technology is already available and it has previously been used for shows featuring stars like Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and Frank Sinatra.”
Benny and Bjorn – who were joined in the band by Anni-Frid (Frida) Lyngstad and Agnetha Faltskog – want to base the planned shows on ABBA’s tours from 1977 to 1979.
And after the pair were recently pictured with Simon in Las Vegas, it has led to speculation that’s where any shows will take place.
The news comes after the quartet made a rare appearance together in June, marking the 50th anniversary of Benny and Bjorn’s first meeting at a private party at the Berns Salonger hotel in Stockholm.
However, though the foursome appeared on stage, only Agnetha and Frida sang, treating guests to a rendition of ‘The Way Old Friends Do’.
The last time they were all together was for the opening of Stockholm’s ‘Mama Mia! The Party’, which was held on January 20 but they didn’t perform on that occasion.
The 70s group had previously been offered a mind-blowing $1 billion to reform for a reunion tour.
However, the turned it down because they weren’t interested in going on the road again.
Frida, 70, admitted: “No amount of money would change our minds. Maybe we sometimes say it would be good to do a song together again, just a recording and nothing else, but I don’t know if that will happen – so don’t say that we will.”
The group also opted not to perform at their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.

The Vamps inspired by Justin Bieber

OHMYGOSSIP — The Vamps have taken musical inspiration from Justin Bieber.
The ‘Oh Cecilia’ hitmakers have decided to ditch their guitars and following the 22-year-old singer down the EDM pop route after their recent anthem ‘All Night’, which they dropped last week, proved such a hit with fans.
The band’s lead singer Bradley Simpson explained: “We’ve definitely changed sonically. Not exactly changed, but we have developed. The album sounds a bit more current. Obviously the whole music industry has shifted a bit. So it’s a bit more current in the sense that it’s a bit more dancy, a bit more Justin Bieber/Skrillex kind of sound. So we’ve taken influence from that but kind of put our print on it.”
Although they’re desperate to have the same success as the Canadian star and his latest album ‘Purpose’, the foursome – comprised also of James McVey, Connor Ball and Tristan Evans – have no interest in making it into the headlines for bad behaviour and outrageous antics, like their idol Justin.
Speaking to Fault magazine, Bradley explained: “Somehow – I don’t even know how – we ended up in a leopard-printed limousine [after a night out on the town]. That’s probably the most rock star thing we’ve ever done.”
Although they seem to have so much admiration for Justin, the boy band aren’t interested in persuading him to collaborate with them on a song for their album.
However, they do have their eye on former soccer player David Beckham’s oldest son Brooklyn Beckham, 17, because of his well-known rapping skills.
Bradley said recently: “We want to get him involved. He can spit bars. He’s going to be rapping on the album. We’re probably two-thirds through the album. It’s been fun. We just want to get more music out.”

Frank Ocean misses Grammy deadline

OHMYGOSSIP — Frank Ocean cannot win a Grammy in February after missing the deadline to submit his album.
The 28-year-old star released two records in August, visual album ‘Endless’ and his second studio record ‘Blonde’, but he will not be named among the nominees for the prestigious ceremony, which are announced on December 8, 2016.
A source confirmed to Billboard that neither of his records were submitted for consideration by his management, record labels or other representations.
This is despite the albums dropping before the 2017 Grammy cut-off point of September 30, 2016.
It is unclear whether there was an oversight or if there was never an intention to submit either of the records for a potential Grammy prize.
A rep for Frank confirmed to the publication that the records were not submitted for consideration.
The ‘Pyramids’ hitmaker earned six Grammy Award nods for his debut solo album ‘Channel Orange’, which was released in 2012, and he won a gong for Best Urban Contemporary Album.
The record also took home Album of the Year at the 2012 Soul Train Music Awards.
Frank spent four years making ‘Blonde’, which he dropped just days apart from 17-track visual LP ‘Endless’ in August, and later revealed he was inspired after travelling the world.
He wrote on Tumblr: “I found it romantic, sometimes, editing this project. The whole time I felt as though I was in the presence of a $16m McLaren F1 armed with a disposable camera. My memories are in these pages, places closeby and long ass-numbing flights away.
“Recording in Tokyo, NYC, Miami, LA, London, Paris. Stopping in Berlin to witness Berghain for myself. Trading jewels and soaking in parables with the many-headed Brandon aka BasedGod in conversation.”

Little Mix's Perrie Edwards: New album was like therapy

OHMYGOSSIP — Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards says the recording of the girl group’s new album was a very “therapeutic process” for her.
The band have unveiled the first single ‘Shout Out to My Ex’ from their upcoming fourth LP ‘Glory Days’ and the track seemingly contains several lyrics which are about Perrie’s former fiancé Zayn Malik – who dumped her in August 2015.
Perrie – who is now dating ‘Our Girl’ hunk Luke Pasqualino – is yet to confirm whether or not the girl power song is about the ex-One Direction star but she has said the whole recording process for ‘Glory Days’ was cathartic for her.
In an interview with her bandmates on Capital Breakfast with Dave Berry, George Shelley and Lilah Parsons, the 23-year-old singer said: “I think the whole album has been like that for us. I feel like we’ve all had therapy on this album. We wrote about everything possible and we’ve been so honest and open about everything.”
On the topic of whether or not the song is about Zayn, 23, the other girls, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall, claimed it is about lots of different exes.
Jesy, 25, said: “It’s about everyone’s exes. Everyone’s got an ex.”
The girls – who performed ‘Shout Out to My Ex’ on ‘The X Factor’ results show on Sunday night (16.10.16) – also shared their top tips to dealing with a break-up.
Jesy – who is engaged to Rixton singer Jake Roche – said: “It’s a healing process. Sit indoors, eat some ice-cream, eat a load of rubbish. Pour your heart out. And then when you’re done with that, get your glad rags on, go on a night out and party the night away!”
Leigh-Anne, 25, added: “And then put ‘Shout Out To My Ex’ on and all your troubles will be solved!”
You can tune in to Capital Breakfast with Dave Berry, George and Lilah, weekdays from 6.00am – 10am and Saturdays 6am – 9am.

Phil Collins announces comeback with European tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Phil Collins is coming out of retirement after 10 years to go on a European tour.
The 65-year-old musician will perform a five-night residency at London’s Royal Albert Hall in June followed by two nights in Cologne, Germany, and a further pair of concerts in Paris, France, as part of his ‘Not Dead Yet: Live 2017 Tour’.
The ‘Against All Odds’ hitmaker will be joined on tour by his 15-year-old son Nicholas who will play the drums, and Phil cannot wait to get back on stage.
Speaking at a press conference at the Royal Albert Hall today (17.10.16) hosted by Jools Holland, Phil said: “I’m looking forward to it.
“I’ve bitten the bullet because I did those three truncated shows at these charity events and when you first go out and haven’t done it for 10 years certainly on your own, the reaction was very warming.
“The band play better than I do so it’s really something I’m looking forward to, especially having Nicholas on the drums because of his influences, [John] Bonham and Chas Smith and me.
“There’s a great communication between us. He doesn’t get offended. He’s a fantastic drummer.”
Phil admitted his fans can expect some impulsiveness in between his songs, but warned supporters not to expect much spontaneity while he and his 12-piece band are performing his collection of hits.
He added: “When you’ve got a 12-piece band you can’t be too spontaneous. The show grows and things develop during the rehearsal period.
“When you’ve got a song I played on my own on record then you give it to 12 great musicians it’s going to sound great.
“What can happen in between tunes can be spontaneous.”
Phil hinted there could be further shows to come after the nine announced today, but admitted he will need to have a rest following the upcoming run of gigs after 10 years away from the stage.
He said: “We’re doing a week here. Five nights anyway. Then five in Cologne and five in Paris. Then I’m going to have a lie down. That’s as far as we’ve got anyway.
“I was brought up old school when going on tour was like going to war – you never knew when you’d come back. But that’s different now.”
Phil Collins’ Not Dead Yet: Live 2017 Tour dates:

Liam Gallagher it's No-el stopping Oasis reunion

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher insists it’s his brother Noel Gallagher who is preventing an Oasis reunion.
The 44-year-old singer and his 49-year-old sibling have barely spoken since Noel quit the band in 2009 following a huge backstage bust-up between the pair.
Since then, they have engaged in a war of words in interviews and on social media but Liam is adamant it is not his Twitter jibes that are stopping them reforming but Noel’s desire to be a solo artist.
Taking part in a Q&A with Johnny Vaughan at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium for Radio X, the ‘Songbird’ songwriter was asked to get Oasis back together.
To which Liam replied: “This is a serious question and I’m not bringing the mood down. Our kid’s (Noel’s) going around like I’ve stabbed his f***ing cat. He wants to be in a solo band. If people think me having a dig on Twitter is what’s stopping the band getting back together, they’re mad. If they want the band to get back together they’ll have to ask our kid. It’s down to our kid.”
Liam has accepted that Oasis aren’t going to reunite any time soon and so is currently recording his first solo album, signing a deal with Warner Music and is expected to release the LP next summer.
The musician – who formed Beady Eye in the wake of Oasis’ break-up before calling time on the group in 2014 – is excited to bring out his own collection of songs but insists there’s nothing better than being in a rock ‘n’ roll band.
He said: “You can do your solo records, you can be wherever you want, but when you’re in a band and you’re playing your music to four, three geezers playing back to you, there’s no better feeling.”
Liam was taking part in the event – which sold out in a matter of minutes – to raise money for Global’s Make Some Noise charity.
Make Some Noise – which was created in 2014 – aims to help British youngsters and their families cope with illness, disability or lack of opportunity.

Rihanna perfroms with Sir Paul McCartney at Desert Trip

OHMYGOSSIP — Rihanna joined Sir Paul McCartney on stage at Desert Trip on Saturday night (15.10.16).
The 28-year-old singer made a surprise appearance at the six-day music festival, held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, when she rocked up to perform their hit song ‘FourFiveSeconds’.
The pair, who co-wrote the track with Kanye West, have both featured the single in their set lists since the single was released, but they haven’t actually performed it together since the 2015 Grammy Awards.
Rihanna appeared to be having the time of her life as she walked out on stage in a pin-striped baggy suit and kicked off the catchy track while McCartney strummed the tune on his guitar.
Once the track was over, the 74-year-old Beatles legend joked that Rihanna, who at this point had headed backstage, was the youngest artist to appear at Desert Trip – which brought together music legends The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Roger Waters and The Who on one bill.
He said with a chuckle: “We finally found someone under the age of 50!”
The ‘Diamonds’ hitmaker wasn’t the only artist to join McCartney on stage as Young, 70, was also on hand to perform ‘A Day in the Life’, which was combined with the late John Lennon’s ‘Give Peace A Chance’ and The Beatles’ ‘Why Don’t We Do It in the Road?’
McCartney was watched by daughter Stella McCartney, his daughter with his late first wife Linda McCartney, as he performed his show which covered his entire career.
On Friday (14.10.16), The Rolling Stones and Dylan, 75, rocked the festival again with 73-year-old Sir Mick Jagger’s band playing a set packed with hits such as ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’, ‘Get Off My Cloud’ and ‘Gimme Shelter’.
The six-night event – which took place over two weekends – was closed on Sunday (16.10.16) by former Pink Floyd star Waters, 73, and The Who.
At one point, Who guitarist Pete Townshend challenged the audience to match the energy levels of himself and frontman Roger Daltrey, 72.
After performing ‘The Seeker’, Townshend, 71, said: “Are you f***ing tired or something? Strange, we’re not!”

Emeli Sandé: My new album is 'more grown up'

OHMYGOSSIP — Emeli Sandé’s new album is “more grown up”.
The 29-year-old musician is due to release her second album ‘Long Live the Angels’ next month, and although she has admitted she was getting so “impatient” about releasing new music, she is happy it’s finally on its way.
She said: “I think the new [album] is just a lot more grown up. I think I really know myself a lot better and have confidence in who I am and I think that’s reflected in the music.
“I’ve been so impatient to share new music and perform new music so it feels really great to get it out there and get real life opinions back.”
Only two tracks on the album feature guest vocals. The recently released ‘Garden’ contains spoken word verses from Ainey Zion and Jay Electronica, whilst the track ‘Tenderly’ features the voice of Emeli’s father – whom she visited in his home country of Zambia.
Speaking to Billboard, she said: “I visited Zambia three years ago and we would always sing and my dad was recording lots of things so I really wanted that to be part of the album,” she said. “That track just made sense naturally.”
But the release of a second album comes with some worries for the ‘Next to Me’ hitmaker, as she previously admitted the success of her first album ‘Our Version of Events’ brought her so much attention that she want to “disappear”.
She said: “Sounds a bit dramatic but I just wanted to disappear. I just had this overwhelming sensation and realisation that everything had to stop. And then slowly it did.
“In retrospect, I was like a pressure cooker waiting to pop. I had to stop and really look at myself and realise who I was. That’s been the biggest lesson for me, learning to feel comfortable in who I am and what I represent and what I stand for.”
Emeli Sandé’s second album ‘Long Live the Angels’ is due for release on November 11.

Kanye West believes artists are 'stealing his stages'

OHMYGOSSIP — Kanye West believes artists are “stealing” his stage design.
The ‘Famous’ rapper, who is currently on his Saint Pablo Tour, has revealed he thinks fellow rappers are “copying my s**t”, trying to replicate his “stages” and emulating his “original” set design as their own.
The 39-year-old musician turned to the crowd during the Edmonton gig to share his views.
He said: “This the original! Accept no imitations! You with the rap God right now!
“N****s be copying my s**t, bro. Stealing our s**t, stealing our stages. Copying our s**t one-to-one.”
Meanwhile, Kanye – who has three-year-old daughter North and 10-month-old son Saint with his wife Kim Kardashian West – interrupted his at the Meadows Music and Arts Festival in New York earlier this month after he heard the news his spouse had been robbed at gunpoint whilst in France during Paris Fashion Week.
Speaking previously at his gig, he said: “I’m sorry, there’s a family emergency, I have to stop the show.”
However the father of two has returned to the stage on October 7 in his hometown of Chicago, and has rescheduled dates he had to cancel. Kanye’s show in Philadelphia, which was due to take place on October 4, is now due to commence on December 13, and the Detroit gig on October 6 has been pushed back to December 22.
And Kanye is solely focusing on his music and current tour because it has been a record breaking success for him.
Speaking previously about the star’s tour, an insider said: “The tour is breaking attendance records. It’s been amazing for Kanye.”

Mel C: 'Little Mix are too sexy'

OHMYGOSSIP — Mel C has slammed Little Mix for being “too sexy”.
The Spice Girls star is unhappy that the girl group have adopted a raunchier image and has urged them to back to the way they were.
She told the Sunday People: “I love Little Mix. I loved them from ‘The X Factor’. I just thought they were so different.
“But they are getting more provocative. To me, they were kind of the closest thing to the Spice Girls we’ve seen. “They are all gorgeous and great singers. But they weren’t sexy and it’s got more and more that way. I love them – but I just say, ‘Stay you’.
And Mel also revealed she has stopped her seven-year-old daughter Scarlett from watching the group’s music videos, because they are too racy.
She said: “She is a massive Little Mix fan but I’ve started to be more sparing in what I show her. I don’t let her watch videos by artists that aren’t appropriate for her. That makes me a bit sad.
“All young women want to look sexy and hot so I understand it’s hard. But I think it’s such a shame. We live in a narcissistic age – it’s 100 per cent worse than when I was in the Spice Girls.
“It was a more innocent time, although we were slammed for wearing crop tops.”
And although there have been reports of feuding among the Spice Girls after Mel and Victoria Beckham refused to take part in a reunion with Emma Bunton, Geri Horner and Mel B, Mel C insisted she loves them all.
When asked about a feud with Mel B, she told the Daily Star Sunday: “I love Melanie. My relationships with some of the girls are difficult at times but I’ll never not love them.”

Beyonce slays despite on-stage injury

OHMYGOSSIP — Beyoncé continued to perform at the TIDAL X: 1015 concert on Saturday (15.10.16) even after she started bleeding.
During her performance of ‘Haunted’ at the star-studded concert at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, Beyoncé’s long braid appeared to catch on her earring and rip it out, leaving her with a bleeding ear.
However, the 35-year-old singer – who performed with holograms of herself during the show – calmly wiped away the blood and continued her performance, to the delight of the crowd.
TIDAL, the subscription-based music service owned by stars including Jay Z, Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and Calvin Harris, held the concert in New York on Saturday to benefit education.
Featuring performances from Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Lauryn Hill, T.I., Alicia Keys, Common, Lil Yachty and Dave East, 100 per cent of ticket sales will be donated to charities including Jay Z’s Sean Carter Foundation and Usher’s New Look.
The Robin Hood Foundation, which works to “to raise awareness, and funds in order to create positive social impact focusing on education initiatives around the world”, also benefits from the concert.
This is the second show of its kind; in 2015 TIDAL X: 1020, featured stars including Lil Wayne, Usher and Nick Jonas.
Meanwhile, earlier this week Nicki spoke about her previous collaborations with Beyoncé, saying: “Every time Bey and I do something together, I see how women are inspired, and it has nothing to do with how we look.
“It has to do with how we are owning who we are and telling other women you should be the boss of your own career and the brains behind your life or your decisions or your art. I just love that feeling.”
