James Arthur to duet with Nicole Scherzinger

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicole Scherzinger is to duet with James Arthur.
The former Pussycat Dolls star – who mentored the 28-year-old singer to victory on ‘The X Factor’ in 2012 – has agreed to provide vocals on a reworked version of her pal’s track ‘Let Me Love The Lonely’.
The song appears on James’ album ‘Back from the Edge’ and he originally recorded the track with Marina Luczenko – whose wedding to soccer player Wojciech Szczesny he performed at earlier this year – and had it distributed in Poland, where he has a huge fan base.
James told The Sun newspaper: “We had a session booked but she was unwell so we haven’t done it yet.
“We originally got a girl in Poland to sing it. It went really well so we thought we should give Nicole a shout.”
James is as yet undecided whether to release the duet with Nicole as a single or simply putting it out as a bonus track online
The ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ singer recently revealed he had asked former lover Rita Ora and ‘Starry Eyed’ hitmaker Ellie Goulding to appear on his album, but heard “nothing” from them in response.
He shared: “It was tough to get people involved in this one because I don’t think anyone expected me to come back.
“I was calling Ellie Goulding and Rita Ora, all these guys saying, ‘Do you want to sing this line?’ I got nothing.”
But the singer admitted his successful comeback has brought familiar faces out of the woodwork, who insist they never doubted him, although he hadn’t heard from them when he was on a break.
He added: “They have all come crawling back saying, ‘Well done, we always believed in you’, I’m like so when I was calling trying to get a feature …
“At least people are humble and have come back and said congratulations.
“I used to speak to Ellie a bit when I first came on the scene. She expressed she was a fan. I didn’t hear from her for a while, so to have her come back and say that is amazing. She is super unique and that’s inspiring to me.”

System of a Down announce 2017 album

OHMYGOSSIP — System of a Down will release new music in 2017.
The heavy metal band last released a studio 11 years ago, shortly before their split in 2006 and subsequent reunion in 2010.
Now, the rockers – comprised of Serj Tankian, Daron Malakian, Shavo Odadjian, and John Dolmayan – say they already have around 15 songs that are “album worthy” after spending six months in the studio.
Drummer John Dolmayan told Kerrang! Magazine: “I want everyone on board and feeling good about it, that’s what we’re trying to accomplish right now. There’s a tremendous amount of pressure on us, though, because it’s been 11 years – at least 12 by the time it comes out.”
The ‘Toxicity’ hitmakers last released two albums ‘Hypnotise’ and ‘Mesmerise’ in 2005 but they believe their lengthy break from the studio has been for the benefit of their sound, and say their “playing ability” will be “better than it ever has been” on their sixth studio album.
John, 43, added: “Our playing ability is better than it ever has been and we’re trying new things. We’re not trying to make ‘Toxicity Part II’, just because it was by far our biggest album. This needs to be something for a new generation of SOAD fans, so everyone can see we’re not resting on our laurels. I’m not gonna put my name on an album I’m not 100 percent proud of.”
The news of an upcoming new album comes after the ‘B.Y.O.B’ musicians announced last month that they will be heading out on a European tour in June. The mini-tour sees them play four dates in France, before heading off to Spain, Poland, and the Czech Republic.
The band have also been announced as headliners for the 2017 Download Festival in England.

Johnny Marr: It was amazing being in The Smiths

OHMYGOSSIP — Johnny Marr has nothing bad to say about his time in The Smiths.
The 58-year-old musician – who was formerly a member of the rock band from their formation in 1982, to their split in 1987 – didn’t feel it was necessary to “settle scores” about his time in the group in his new memoir, ‘Set The Boy Free’, because he has nothing but “amazing” memories despite what other people have said.
He explained: “I had no interest in rewriting history to settle scores. That’s not really my style. I had no interest in writing about it in any other way than saying it was amazing, because it was. How would anyone imagine otherwise? We were so young, and we were in a great band and lots of amazing things were happening to us. That’s been misrepresented by people with different agendas.”
Meanwhile, the ‘This Charming Man’ hitmaker has revealed he is working with TV actress Maxine Peake on a “project” and he hopes to go on a solo tour in 2017.
He told NME magazine: “I want to get out again and do some shows. The band will resume at the start of next year, and I’m doing a new project with [the actress] Maxine Peake. We’ve wanted to do something together for a while. She’s an amazing artist and I think we have a lot in common. We haven’t quite worked it out yet, but I have this idea for music and words. Hopefully we’ll turn it into a show of some kind. We haven’t quite worked it out yet, but we have started and it’s going to be great.”
Johnny also wrote about the time he met up with his former bandmate Morrissey at a pub in 2008 and discussed the possibility of a reunion.
He wrote: “Suddenly we were talking about the possibility of the band reforming, and in that moment it seemed that with the right intention it could actually be done and might even be great.
“I was genuinely pleased to be back in touch with Morrissey, and [current band] the Cribs and I talked about the possibility of me playing some shows with The Smiths. For four days it was a very real prospect.”

Kasabian for Glastonbury Festival 2017?

OHMYGOSSIP — Kasabian are rumoured to be headlining Glastonbury Festival next year.
The ‘Fire’ hitmakers are tinkering away at their sixth studio album, which is expected to be released early next year, and when a representative for the band was asked if they could be performing on the legendary music festival’s Pyramid Stage next June, they didn’t say no.
The spokesperson told NME magazine: “The band are currently finishing their new album.”
Frontman Tom Meighan – who is joined by Sergio Pizzorno, Chris Edwards and Ian Matthews in the indie rock band – has said that they decided to go back to their roots and write a guitar album rather than sticking with electronic sound of their last offering, 2014’s ’48:13′, for the new album.
He shared: “I said to Serge [Pizzono], ‘Let’s go back to our roots, let’s go back to guitars.’ He said, ‘That’s what I’ve done.’ He played me the demos and I was like, ‘F***ing hell! That’s great that is.’ It’s nothing like ‘48.13’, there’s not f***ing interludes or any of that s**t.”
Meanwhile, guitarist Serge has revealed that they were inspired by John Lennon’s theory that rock ‘n’ roll is like a chair and you have to create your own version of that chair.
He said: “I heard this John Lennon interview and he talked about the chair. He said what rock ‘n’ roll is, it’s just a chair and The Beatles’ version of rock ‘n’ roll was the chair. So I thought, ‘Wow, I want to make my version of that chair.'” ‘Creep’ rockers Radiohead are the only band confirmed for the music festival, which is held on Worthy Farm in Somerset, South West England.
And the festival’s organiser Emily Eavis recently poured cold water on speculation that Daft Punk and The Stone Roses are to perform.
She said: “As ever, 99 per cent of the rumours are untrue.”

David Bowie was planning secret band

OHMYGOSSIP — David Bowie was planning on forming a secret band, according to Tommy Hilfiger’s new memoir.
In his new tome, ‘American Dreamer, the 65-year-old fashion mogul claims that the late music legend – who sadly passed away in January at the age of 69, following a secret battle with cancer – had a “dream” to get a group of musicians together to jam and record songs off the cuff in a “raw state”.
In the extract obtained by The New York Post’s PageSix Column, he wrote: “His [Bowie’s] dream was to gather incredible musicians and create music that they had never rehearsed, read or even seen before.
“They’d simply go into a studio and play something for the first time and record it in that raw state. I found the idea thrilling.”
It comes following the news that a campaign aiming to raise £100,000 for a statue of the ‘Starman’ hitmaker has generated more than £25,000 so far.
A Kickstarter campaign created by music club Friars Aylesbury is hoping to raise the huge sum to put towards a life-size figurine of the late musician to be placed in the market square in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, south east England.
To mark the achievement of raising a quarter of the total, Holy Holy – a supergroup which performs Bowie songs – will play the late legend’s fifth studio album, ‘The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars’ in full at Friars Aylesbury on April 3, 2017.
The group features drummer Woody Woodmansey, formerly of Bowie’s backing band The Spiders from Mars, and his long-time producer Tony Visconti, as well as Heaven 17’s Glenn Gregory.
It will be the first time Woody has played the Ziggy album in the town since Bowie’s show there on July 15, 1972.
Friars Aylesbury had a special place in the late music legend’s heart as he performed world debuts of two of his albums, ‘Hunky Dory’ and ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars’ at the club in 1971/72.
While £25,000 of the £100,000 has been raised, the campaign is aiming to generate the full amount by December 6, 2016.

James Arthur wants to make hip hop album

OHMYGOSSIP — James Arthur wants to make a hip hop album.
The 28-year-old singer – whose comeback LP ‘Back from the Edge’ went straight to number one in the UK official charts – has revealed he is excited about making new music and he hopes to make a record inspired by ‘Famous’ rapper Kanye West.
He said: “I want to just go a bit crazy and bit more Kanye next. I would love to do something more left (field) and maybe make an R&B hip-hop thing.
This one was quite guitar-based, vintage Motown, really honest and raw. But I’m excited to make new music.”
The ‘Recovery’ hitmaker says his second record is his most meaningful to date, and for his next outing he wants to step away from the guitar and have some fun experimenting.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: “I think it will be nice to be presented as a new artist. I’m not ashamed of my history but they don’t know my background, which will be interesting.”
The ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ star also said there is no bad blood between himself and his ex-girlfriend Rita Ora, who he recently revealed snubbed him to collaborate on his new album.
He said: “It was made out that I’d called her a bitch or something. But I’d never want to paint her in a bad light – she’s such a lovely person. We were just seeing each other and getting to know each other. She’s super busy and I’m super bus and it just sort of fizzled out.”
The ‘Body On Me’ hitmaker- who he had a brief fling with in 2013 – ignored all his calls for a possible duet for ‘Back From The Edge’ and so did ‘Still Falling For You’ songstress Ellie Goulding.
He previously shared: “It was tough to get people involved in this one because I don’t think anyone expected me to come back.
“I was calling Ellie Goulding and Rita Ora, all these guys saying, ‘Do you want to sing this line?’ I got nothing.”

The ‘Hymn for the Weekend’ hitmakers – comprised of Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, and Will Champion – will take to the stage at the inaugural festival in Mumbai, which has previously been held in New York City every year since 2012.
Frontman Chris Martin, 39, is the creative director of the event, which will take place on November 19 and see the likes of Jay Z and Demi Lovato wow crowds with their performances.
Oscar-winning Indian composer A. R. Rahman – as well as local musicians and Bollywood celebrities – will also make appearances throughout the one-day festival.
The festival aims to use crowdfunding initiatives to raise money for orphaned children, and is hoping to raise enough funds to build 25 new children’s homes across the country.
Global Citizen India spokesperson Arnav Sahni said in a statement: “Our festival combines music with social causes that have an impact and Miracle Foundation has had a huge impact on vulnerable children. Fuelled by Ketto’s remarkable crowdfunding platform, we hope to raise money and awareness so the Miracle Foundation can continue to do their inspirational work.”

Kelly Clarkson to drop album in June

OHMYGOSSIP — Kelly Clarkson is to release a new single in April and album in June.
The ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’ hitmaker insists her forthcoming record is the “favourite thing” she’s ever done musically because she is no longer tied down to an ‘American Idol’ contract after winning the inaugural series in 2002.
Kelly – who left RCA after 14 years in June to sign with Atlantic – said: “We are hoping the single will be in April, and then the album in June.
“It’s my favourite thing I’ve ever done. It’s the first time I got to pick my label, because I just got out of my [‘American] Idol’ contract. I’ve been dying to make this record since ‘Idol’.”
The 34-year-old singer has teased fans that the style of her upcoming record will “definitely” be different, and she finds it odd that nobody knows her sound despite her being on the scene for 14 years.
She said: “We’re still working on it, but we have a good batch of songs already and I can’t wait to sing them live.
“They’re amazing. After having a career for so long, it’s so weird that nobody knows [my sound] yet, so it’s going to be so good. It’s definitely a different chapter.”
Kelly has taken inspiration from the likes of Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Tina Turner for her upcoming album and admits fans who watched her on the talent show will make a comparison to then and her new music.
She added to PEOPLE: “It’s very much my personality. I think it’s very much what people expected from me off of watching me on ‘Idol’.
“I sang all these Aretha things, I love Tina, I love Mariah, I love Whitney. I think it’s very much what people expected in the first place.
“I love all my stuff that I’ve done but this is the record that has been in me since junior high. And that music from when I was in junior high is now coming back [into style] – like our 15-year-old listens to R&B that I listened to in high school.”

We’re looking forward to having time off to be creative again. But we’re definitely feeling inspired and ready to go. We played a lot of big stages on tour in the past year, and that’s something I’m sure will come through in the next album.”

Christine and the Queens 'potting next album'

OHMYGOSSIP — Christine and the Queens is “plotting her next album”.
The 28-year-old French singer, whose real name is Héloïse Letissier, has admitted she hates to think about the success of her debut record ‘Chaleur Humaine’ and is instead focusing all of her energy on writing a follow-up to the critically-acclaimed album, which was released in 2014.
She explained said: “Chaleur Humaine’ was so beautiful to work on and seeing it blossom.
“But it is something I’m afraid to dwell on, because it is a debut album. It’s like an introduction. ‘Hello, it’s me’.
“But then you need a second verse.
“I’m actually plotting the next album. Rubbing my hands together alone in my room, laughing creepily.”
The ‘Saint Claude’ hitmaker has had an extremely successful 2016 having joined Sir Elton John on stage at London’s Roundhouse for Apple Music Festival and she was nominated for Best Breakthrough Act at the 2016 Q Awards.
However, Héloïse won’t be reflecting on the great things that have happened to her this year, because she finds she writes her best songs when she is feeling like “s***”.
She told DIY magazine: “All the great things that happened to me this year, I’m trying not to think about.
“I don’t want to sit on it. I want to doubt and feel like s*** so I can write songs.
“I’m exaggerating, but you see what I mean.”
Meanwhile, Héloïse – who was brought up on stage by Madonna, who spanked her during her Paris ‘Rebel Heart World Tour’ show last year – previously admitted she’ll never be the “perfect” pop star like Beyonce or Adele and has been inspired to “create a new way” to “be a woman” in the music industry.
She said: “Perfect has never been my thing, so I had to find another way. I always say on stage that I am like a broken flower compared to perfect pop singers like Beyonce, who I love, actually. I am trying to create a new version, a new way to be a woman in this industry and on stage.”

The ‘Sex on Fire’ hitmakers’ frontman Caleb Followill has revealed he has been a close pal of the 26-year-old ‘Shake It Off’ singer for some time and he has teased that they may have already been in the studio together.
He said: “I’ve been a friend of Taylor Swift since she was young. I wouldn’t be surprised if we hadn’t already written together.”
It comes after the pop beauty attended their surprise concert at New York’s Le Poisson Rouge lounge last month.
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old rocker – who is married to Victoria’s Secret Angel Lily Aldridge, 30 – has poured cold water on rumours the indie rock group are performing at next year’s Glastonbury Festival at Worthy Farm in Somerset, South West England.

Caleb – who is joined by his brothers Nathan Followill and Jared Followill and their cousin Matthew Followill in the group – previously said he was planning on phoning up the iconic music extravaganza’s organiser Michael Eavis to get them on the bill, before learning they were fully booked for next year.
He previously said: “We love Glastonbury.
“I think that was the first festival we played in Europe. Do they still do it where it’s on one year, off one year to the grass grow? … OK, then we’ll have to get on it in 2017. I’ll have to text Mr Eavis.”

Lorde teases new album in letter to fans

OHMYGOSSIP — Lorde has teased new music in a heartfelt letter to fans to mark her 20th birthday.
The ‘Royal’ singer – who turned 20 on Monday (07.11.16) – has produced “the best lyrics” she’s ever written and is desperate to release the follow up to her hit 2013 debut album ‘Pure Heroine’.
The lengthy post titled ‘A Note From The Desk Of A Newborn Adult’ shared on her Facebook page begins “Tomorrow I turn 20, and it’s all I’ve been able to think about for days.”
It goes on to reveal: “Writing ‘Pure Heroine’ was my way of enshrining our teenage glory, putting it up in lights forever so that part of me never dies, and this record – well, this one is about what comes next.
I want nothing more than to spill my guts RIGHT NOW about the whole thing – I want you to see the album cover, pore over the lyrics (the best I’ve written in my life), touch the merch, experience the live show. I can hardly stop myself from typing out the name. I just need to keep working a while longer to make it as good as it can be. You’ll have to hold on. The big day is not tomorrow, or even next month realistically, but soon. I know you understand.”
Her letter comes after a fan took to Instagram earlier this year and moaned about how long it is taking for her to release new music.
The furious star replied: “Give up on me if you want to! I’m an artist, I write a record when I have enough special stories to tell, and it’s all me, every melody every lyric, not some team who just start the machine up every eighteen months like clockwork.”
