Robbie Williams claims 12th UK solo number one

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams has claimed his 12th UK solo number one.
The 42-year-old singer songwriter became the UK’s most successful-ever solo artist when his latest record ‘Heavy Entertainment Show’ reached the top spot and he is “chuffed and humbled”.
He told The Sun: “I’m chuffed and humbled by these amazing statistics and facts.
“I’m as proud of this album as much as any other, and hope that the fans enjoy it as much as I loved making it – this is for the friendlies.”
Meanwhile, Robbie recently insisted no other musician has an “entertaining temperament” like him.
The star – who boasts over 20 years at the helm of the music industry – has admitted he is confident about taking to the stage for his upcoming European tour and believes he is the ultimate entertainer.
Speaking in a press conference to promote his forthcoming stadium tour for his latest album, the ‘Rock DJ’ hitmaker said: “If you say things enough it becomes true.
“This tour is going to be huge, my temperament is incredible, nobody has got an entertaining temperament like me and nobody respects women more than I do.”
And the star – who married his wife Ayda Field in 2010 with whom he has four-year-old daughter Theodora and two-year-old son Charlton together – believes he will prove his talent in his two-hour shows next year.
He explained: “Which you shall see from my two-hour performance each evening when I shall be respecting women then, nobody does that like me.
“Nobody sings ‘Let Me Entertain You’ or ‘Angels’ like me.”

Ne-Yo: My wife is my best friend

OHMYGOSSIP — Ne-Yo’s wife is his best friend.
The 36-year-old singer knows he can always turn to spouse Crystal Renay for support and advice and loves her “drive and ambition” – as well as her bottom.
Asked who his best friend is, he said: “My wife Crystal. She’s the one person on the planet I can talk to about anything and everything. She’s the person I know will never judge me …
“I am a sucker for a woman with some drive and ambition. Confidence is the sexiest thing in the world to me. I don’t discriminate in regards to race, colour or creed, but I’m a booty guy.”
The ‘So Sick’ hitmaker – who has kids Madilyn, five, and four-year-old son Mason with ex-girlfriend Monyetta Shaw and son SJ, seven months, with Crystal – also admitted one of his most extravagant purchases came on Father’s Day, when he bought a luxury car for himself.
He said: “One Father’s Day, I went out and bought myself an SLS Mercedes-Benz, the one with doors that come up like wings. It’s honestly the most expensive thing, next to my home of course, that I have purchased.”
The 37-year-old singer prides himself on being a “gentleman”, but admits it makes people mistakenly think he’s a “pushover”.
He told Grazia magazine: “I think a lot of people think I’m a pushover because I’m a real gentleman. That’s not drue, don’t get it twisted.”

James Bourne: It took me 5 years to get over Busted split

OHMYGOSSIP — James Bourne took five years to get over Busted splitting up.
The 33-year-old singer admits he felt like he “didn’t have a life” when the group went their separate ways in 2005 so Charlie Simpson could pursue a career with his rock band Fightstar and it took him a long time to come to terms with the fact the ‘Year 3000’ hitmakers wouldn’t be making a new album.
He said: “There’s an adjustment thing that goes on and for me it was quite a long time. Your life is on a certain track and the track ends, and it feels like you don’t have a life for a little bit, because the life you did have is over.
“So I spent a few months in my apartment just playing video games and not really seeing anybody. It probably took about five years actually. I spent a good few years doing other things, but there was still a part of me that thought, ‘Hopefully we can do another album’. And it took about five years for me to give up on that and make peace with the fact that it was never going to happen.”
Busted thrilled their fans when they reformed in November 2015, two years after James and Matt Willis had joined McFly to form supergroup McBusted.
And Charlie insists he was never upset at not being involved with McBusted as he was busy with his solo project and was already making plans with his pals for the Busted reunion.
He told heat magazine: “It was fine. I think that was a completely separate thing and we were already in conversation at that point about doing Busted again anyway, and I was about to release a solo record, so there was never any talk of me doing McBusted. I think the focus was really on the end game, which was to get to this point.”

Pixie Geldof's album sells just 197 copies in first week

OHMYGOSSIP — Pixie Geldof’s debut album only sold 197 copies in its first week of release.
The 26-year-old former model – whose father is Boomtown Rats singer Bob Geldof – had a disappointing start to her music career when her record ‘I’m Yours’ failed to break the UK Top 200 after disappointing sales.
Pixie’s album has made a total of £1,600 and a source told The Sun: “Once you take off the retail cut and then the distributor costs to put a record out, as well as any marketing and promo, she’s definitely making a loss.
“A sum of £1,600 can barely even get you someone to promote your music on the radio.
“And that figure doesn’t take into account the money that she ploughed into studio time, song writing sessions or producers.
“She released the album through West Country independent label Stranger Records, but they will hardly be raking in the big bucks either.”
Pixie’s album contains a song she wrote in memory of her sister Peaches, who was found dead at her home on April 7, 2014 at the age of 25 from an accidental heroin overdose.
An inquest found that Peaches died of a heroin overdose. The death hit Pixie hard but it also inspired her to finish her debut album ‘I’m Yours’.
Speaking about the track ‘Twin Thing’, she said: “Writing it was very precious, and it was important to be accurate and to do it justice. It was difficult. ‘I’m Yours’ isn’t full of songs about Peaches. Only ‘Twin Thing’ addresses her directly.”
The touching track contains the lyrics “Wish I’d known you like my own skin, so I could feel the hurt you were in / Wish we had that twin thing” and the words are inspired by the relationships twins share.
Pixie explained: “The lyrics are a reference to how they say twins can feel each other. We were very close. When I wrote it I didn’t understand what was going on for at least the first verse. I remember being surprised.”

Professor Green curbs partying

OHMYGOSSIP — Professor Green has curbed his partying ways.
The 32-year-old rapper – whose real name is Stephen Manderson – has long traded in boozy nights in favour of going home early after he came to realise early this year that no one is in a “happy” state of mind when they are off their face on drugs and alcohol.
In an interview with The i newspaper, he explained: “Nowadays people talk about ‘sesh life’ and getting on it [drink and drugs], and everyone is. It’s frightening. It’s not all right. I’ve sat in rooms before and people are ‘having fun’ but no one’s happy. Then you realise that you’re in that room as well. So there came a point this year when I just cut off everyone. I started going home early. I don’t really want to be on my own, but I’d rather that and try and be OK with my own company.”
Pro has just released the video for his tenth single ‘One Eye On The Door’, which tells the story of the rapper’s “messy” night out with mates at a squat party.
In the short his conscience – which is depicted by a ghoulish apparition in a female form – is telling him to head home, but he keeps ignoring it and the more he ignores it, the more it haunts him.
The video was produced by Diztortion and directed by his long-term collaborator Henry Schofield, and features Pro’s real-life friends, IQ, Dream McLean, Damian Brambley and Memet Mustard, to name a few.
Speaking about the video, he said:”I thought the only way to depict a convincing party in the video, was to have a party. So I invited my mates along to the shoot. Luckily the camera men didn’t drink as much as we did …”
And in order to help him switch off from the outside world, he’s even invested in a retro phone that only makes and receives calls and texts.
He said: “It’s a ball ache writing out texts, but beyond that it’s nice not to have a connection to the digital world.”
‘One Eye On The Door’ marks his first single since the release of the 2014 platinum hit ‘Lullaby’ (featuring Tori Kelly) and is available to buy now on iTunes and to stream across all platforms.

Sir Cliff Richard 'wont be cheap' if Glastonbury Festival want him

OHMYGOSSIP — Cliff Richard says he won’t be “cheap” if Glastonbury Festival want him to play.
The 76-year-old music legend recently said it would be “great” to perform at the annual music extravaganza, which takes place on Worthy Farm in Somerset, South West England, but he’s now said he’d only be up for doing it for a large sum of money.
Speaking on UK TV show ‘Lorraine’, he said: “They have never asked me – if they asked I’d seriously think about it. Maybe there will be a spot. If you are the owners of Glastonbury Festival, please feel free to ask but I may not be available and what’s more, I’m not cheap!”
Speaking about the potential gig, the ‘Devil Woman’ hitmaker, who is set to perform a series of outdoor concerts next year, previously said: “They are like festival shows; open air concerts.
“We’re doing two in Denmark, one in Ireland and nine in Britain.
“If they invited me to Glastonbury I would seriously think about doing it. Then I’d either plan a tour to start there or end there. It would be great.”
However, the ‘Summer Holiday’ actor has revealed he wouldn’t want to camp because he doesn’t like to get dirty and covered in mud.
He explained: “Camping’s not for me. I’m too old for that – I wouldn’t want to get dirty.”
But the veteran musician has admitted he has “admiration” for all of the concert-goers who embrace the weather conditions and the lack of showers and washing facilities to watch the acts regardless of who is performing.
He said: “I have admiration for all those folk that go. Apparently there have only been seven years when it didn’t rain.
“They seem to have great fun all sloshing about in the mud. It doesn’t even matter what bands are there – although they love their bands – it could be anybody playing.
“They’re just there having a good time. It’s wonderful to see.”

Coldplay release stripped-back version of Everglow

OHMYGOSSIP — Coldplay have reworked their new single ‘Everglow’.
The British rockers have today (11.11.16) released the fifth song from their critically-acclaimed album ‘A Head Full Of Dreams’, with in a new style inspired by the band’s performance of the track at the world famous Glastonbury Festival in June, where frontman Chris Martin had to deliver an impromptu version after a technical glitch.
The ‘Up&Up’ hitmakers fell in love with the new stripped-back edition and decided to make it available to buy.
The updated song also features an audio excerpt of Muhammad Ali speaking to a live studio audience in Newcastle upon Tyne in North East England, in 1977.
A video clip of the 39-year-old rocker recording the vocals has been uploaded to the group’s Instagram page.
Coldplay previously released a special Surround Sound version of ‘A Head Full of Dreams’.
The band – also comprised of drummer Will Champion, guitarist Jonny Buckland and bassist Guy Berryman – presented the record in 5.1 Surround Sound, which Coldplay’s producer Rik Simpson says is the ultimate format in which to listen to the record.
Rik – who co-produced the album with Stargate – previously said: “The album was always conceived by the band as a dreamlike, kaleidoscopic sweep of music so it was fantastic to be able to take it to its furthest conclusion with a trip into a surround-sound dreamscape.”
‘Everglow’ is out now.

Emeli Sande's parents still call her Adele

OHMYGOSSIP — Emeli Sande’s parents still call her by her real name Adele.
The ‘Hurts’ hitmaker, whose full name is Adele Emily Sande, was forced to change her name when pop superstar Adele became a household name, but her parents and those close to her don’t refer to her as Emeli.
She said: “My parents call me Adele. Everyone that knows me before I moved to London and started music calls me Adele.”
The 29-year-old singer had never known another Adele until the ‘Hello’ singer came along, but she has learnt to enjoy her new moniker.
Emeli told The Sun newspaper: “It was weird, I had never met someone called Adele before and then that happened. Adele is me when I’m not singing. But Emeli is fun – I’m enjoying it.”
The Scottish songstress was a renowned songwriter under her real name before Adele stole it.
Asked why she made the name change, she previously said: “I just thought, you’ve kind of taken the name now, so I went with my middle name. She was just getting bigger and bigger, so I thought I just really need it.”
In November 2015, Adele released her album ’25’, which forced Emeli to delay her new LP, which comes out on November 11, so it didn’t clash with Adele’s.
The singer’s longtime producer Naughty Boy previously revealed: “They can’t go against each other. Nobody wants to.
“Adele’s album is coming in September and labels have cleared their schedules because they know it’s going to wipe the floor.
“Emeli’s album is coming out next year now. It sounds amazing.”

Foo Fighters to headline Open'er Festival

OHMYGOSSIP — Foo Fighters have been confirmed as headliners of Open’er Festival 2017.
The rock band – comprised of Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Pat Smear, Nate Mendel, and Chris Shiflett – will take to the stage at the Polish festival which is held in Gdynia from June 28 to July 01.
Foo Fighters will join the previously announced Radiohead on the festival’s bill, with no other acts having been confirmed to appear as of yet.
The appearance of the band at the same festival as Radiohead has sparked rumours about the possibility of the ‘Everlong’ musician’s performing at Glastonbury Festival, as the ‘Creep’ hitmakers are also making an appearance at the iconic English festival five days before they make their way to Poland.
The news of the Open’er slot comes after the ‘Best of You’ hitmakers recently announced they would also be making an appearance at Portugal’s Nos Alive Festival next year, with fans now speculating a string of European live dates to follow.
And the promise of new shows for the ‘Walk’ musicians will be well received by fans, after it was previously speculated that frontman Dave Grohl was working on material for a project separate to Foo Fighters.
Producer Butch Vig said previously: “I just met with Dave and he’s been writing some songs, but there are no plans for more Foos. I know he talked about another ‘Sonic Highways’, but nothing’s come to fruition yet … But hopefully I’ll be in the studio again in the fall. If I’m back in with the Foo Fighters again, that … I don’t really know.”
At the start of the month, drummer Taylor Hawkins also announced a solo debut entitled ‘KOTA’, which will be released on Friday (11.11.16).
Tickets for Open’er Festival are on sale now through the festival’s website.

Leonard Cohen remembered by Recording Academy

OHMYGOSSIP — The Recording Academy have hailed Leonard Cohen’s “extraordinary talent”.
The organisation of music professionals, which hands out the prestigious Grammy Awards, have paid tribute to the legendary singer and poet, following his death at the age of 82.
Chief Executive Neil Portnow said in a statement on behalf of the Recording Academy: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Grammy Award winner and 2010 Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement recipient Leonard Cohen.
“During an influential career that spanned more than five decades, Leonard became one of the most revered pop poets and a musical touchstone for many songwriters.
“His extraordinary talent had a profound impact on countless singers and songwriters, as well as the wider culture.
“We have lost a cherished artist and our sincerest condolences go out to Leonard’s family, friends, and collaborators. He will be missed terribly.”
Meanwhile, Montreal mayor Denis Coderre has said the city will lower its flag to half-mast to mourn the singer, who was born in Westmount, Quebec, in 1934.
He said: “We will pay tribute as we should to one of our greatest Montrealers.”
Leonard – who never married but had children Adam and Lorca with former partner Suzanne Elrod – released his first album in 1967 and is regarded as one of the most influential singer-songwriters of his era, alongside Bob Dylan.
As well as his own music, his work was also recorded by the likes of Judy Collins, James Taylor, Jeff Buckley and Willie Nelson.
In 1995, he retreated from the spotlight and became an ordained Buddhist monk, but returned to music with ‘Ten New Songs’, a collaboration with Sharon Robinson, in 2001.
Despite his advancing years, the ‘Bird on a Wire’ star continued to work hard in his 70s, performing an impressive 387 concerts between 2008 and 2013.
He then retreated from the spotlight again before returning just last month with his 14th and final studio album, ‘You Want It Darker’.

The ‘Boulevard Of Broken Dreams’ hitmakers will join already-announced acts Linkin Park, System of a Down and Blink-182 at the annual music event, held in Paris from June 9 until June 11.
The band, which is comprised of Billie Joe Armstrong, Tré Cool and Mike Dirnt, will take to the stage on the final day Sunday 11, just after Prophets of Rage rock the arena, but it’s not yet known if they’re planning to jet across to the UK beforehand to play at the British version as well – like the System of a Down are.
The UK version of the festival, which is held on the same three days at Donington Park, Leicestershire, will see Aerosmith, Biffy Clyro and System of a Down headline, with the ‘Toxicity’ hitmakers closing the first night on Friday, June 9.
The band, who will be headlining for the second time after heading up the main stage in 2011, said: “It’ll have been a couple of years since our memorable ‘Wake Up The Souls’ show at Wembley, so returning to the UK to headline Download, a festival we always love to play, is really exciting for us.
“The energy and atmosphere there is always electric.”

Kate Bush unsure if she will tour again

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Bush is not sure if she will tour again after being “terrified” by her live comeback shows in 2014.
The ‘Wuthering Heights’ hitmaker performed 22 sold-out shows at London’s Hammersmith Apollo to critical acclaim, for what marked her first gigs since her one and only tour in 1979.
And now the 58-year-old musician says while she is working on live album ‘Before The Dawn’, which is comprised of performances from the concerts, she has no idea if she will return to the stage.
Of the shows, she said: “Yeah, I was terrified. The idea of putting the show together was something that I found really interesting and really exciting … but to actually step into it was something that I had to really work hard on because I was terrified of doing live work as a performer again.”
And asked if she plans on performing live again, she told BBC 6 Music: “The thing about that show is that most of the material was already written. And to start something like that from scratch is another whole world of work, isn’t it?
“It was an extraordinary thing to be involved in, especially to have got the response that we did. It was really magical.
“But I don’t know. I don’t know what I’m going to do next. I want to just do something new. I’ve been working [on] this project for a really long time now.”
The LP will mark the star’s first release since 2011’s ’50 Words for Snow’.
The compilation is billed as a triple album, with each one marking different sections of the run of concerts she performed.
‘Act One’ consists of a seven song set of hits from throughout Kate’s career including tracks such as ‘Hounds of Love’ and ‘Running Up That Hill’.
‘Act Two’ features the songs from side two of the 1985 album ‘Hounds of Love’, in a sequence of songs collectively titled ‘The Ninth Wave’.
Finally, ‘Act Three’ is made up of the songs from side two of Kate’s 2005 album ‘Aerial’, collectively known as ‘A Sky of Honey’.
Kate’s live album ‘Before The Dawn’ will be released on November 25.

“It’s really a commitment, being on the road; you almost put everything on hold – seeing family, seeing friends. I’ve missed so many weddings and births.
“It will be nice to wake up and know I don’t have anything to do.”
