Rick Ross announces new album Rather You Than Me

OHMYGOSSIP — Rick Ross has announced his new album will be called ‘Rather You Than Me’ and will be released in early 2017.
The 40-year-old rapper and DJ Khaled attended the American Music Awards together on Sunday night (20.11.16) and Ross took the opportunity to confirm his LP is coming soon.
Ross wore a black sweat shirt with the album’s title emblazoned across it in white writing and as he entered the ceremony he was reading a copy of Khaled’s new book ‘The Keys’.
The ‘Purple Lamborghini’ hitmaker also logged on to his Twitter account to share the news and reveal the cover for his ninth LP to his followers as well as a short video showing the title being spray painted.
In tweets he wrote: “There will be bloodshed. Early 2017 … Rather You Than Me … I pray you live rich forever.”
Speaking on the red carpet at the AMAs, Ross – also known as Rozay and Renzel – offered reporters a riddle about Khaled’s tome ‘The Keys’ when discussing what his advice would be to aspiring rappers.
He said: “A lot of times people ask me, Rozay, what advice can you give me to get where you at? This has the keys.”
At the ceremony, Ross and Khaled performed ‘Do You Mind’ from the latter’s latest album ‘Major Key’ along with Nicki Minaj, Future and August Alsina.
‘Rather You Than Me’ is Ross’ first record since ‘Black Market’, which was released in December 2015.
It is his first release on new label Epic Records who he signed with after leaving Def Jam.

Francis Rossi blames 'wild' partying on Rick Parfitt's heart attacks

OHMYGOSSIP — Francis Rossi says Rick Parfitt’s four heart attacks were “payback” for years of “wild” partying.
The 68-year-old guitarist spent several days in a coma after Status Quo’s gig in Turkey in June, but his band mate Francis, 67, admits years of drug and alcohol abuse – which saw him spend £1,200 a week on cocaine – are to blame for his ill health.
He said: “We always said it, and he said it himself, it is the quid pro quo – it’s the payback for being the wild person.”
Meanwhile, frontman Francis admits that when he saw Rick laying clinically dead as he watched medical staff resuscitating him, he thought to himself that if it was him he wouldn’t want to be brought back to life.
Recalling Rick laying cold out on the floor after collapsing backstage, Francis said: “I saw him lying there and what they were doing to him and I thought ‘Oh sh**’.
“They were pumping his chest with so much effort his arms were flailing.
“He was gone.
“I almost said, ‘Oh leave him alone’. I wouldn’t want people doing that to me. But it wasn’t my call. It could be seen as one partner trying to bump the other partner off.
“I was just stood there. We all felt for him. But you do think ‘Oh, Rick, don’t be a d***head’.”
Despite being shook up from Rick’s heart attack, Francis couldn’t help but think about the rest of their tour as they couldn’t afford to cancel.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “When Rick fell over – that’s what we always call it – we all went ‘Oh f***, now what?’. We could never have cancelled.
“In the 70s you could cancel and just leave the venue. Whereas now the punter wants his money back, the hall want their money, the crew, the buses… everyone wants paying.
“And then the promoter would sue you for loss of earnings. We couldn’t cancel – we can’t afford to do that.”
‘Whatever You Want’ hitmaker Rick previously admitted he is wary of ever returning to the stage at all.
He said: “I’m just aware of the nervousness I get before I go on stage. It does pump your heart slightly when you start to pace up and down the room, and you’re about to go in front of thousands of people. Obviously it’s going to have some effect on you. ”
Rick’s first heart attack was in 1997, after which he had a quadruple heart bypass. He had a further two in 2011 and 2014 prior to his fourth in June.

The ‘Famous’ rapper axed the concert, which he had rescheduled after he cut his set short on November 3 at the same venue due to a sore throat, hours before he was expected to to go on stage.

During his performance on November 3, Kanye paused while performing ‘Only One’ to inform the crowd he was unable to carry on singing and said he would “do better next time”.

Una Healy: 'The Saturdays will reform'

OHMYGOSSIP — Una Healy insists The Saturdays will reform.
Although the girlband are currently on hiatus and the members are working on solo projects, Una is confident that they will make a pop comeback.
She told YOU magazine: “We’re doing our own projects for now. But we’ll be back together again at some point.”
In March Una fuelled reports of strife in her marriage to rugby player Ben Foden when she changed her professional name from Foden back to Healy but she insisted that it was purely for work reasons.
She explained: “I just wanted to go back to who I was before The Saturdays. I’ll always be Mrs Foden at home and it was important to me to take Ben’s name. Going back to Healy is just me returning to the original path I was on.”
And indeed Ben has inspired a number of songs on Una’s solo album.
Speaking about her debut single ‘Stay My Love’, she explained: “Some nights I’m with Ben and either he’ll be leaving for a rugby tour the next day or I’ll be leaving on a trip,’ she says, ‘and you want that night to last for ever. We do really miss each other when we’re apart but we understand that we both have to be away for work and that we don’t have the same structure in our lives that most people have. It is hard.”
‘All You Ever Need is Love’, was also partly inspired by Ben, with Una explaining. It’s about having that person you can hug, who tells you everything is going to be OK.
“I think when he’s warming up for games he’s secretly listening to it. The album isn’t an autobiography – it deals with universal emotions.”

Taylor Swift praised for 'honest' music

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift has been praised for her “honest” music.
Singer Alessia Cara, 20, is a huge fan of the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker and hopes that she can build the same connection with her own fans.
Speaking at the Alessia Cara Event at The Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, she said: “Taylor’s one of those people who just puts out honest music, and people don’t ever forget that, people don’t ever lose that connection once you make it with them, and she’s always been so, so great at just being honest and real with her fans and with her music. And if that’s something I can do, that’d be awesome, because I’d rather have fans for that reason, for the right reason.”
Alessia also praised Coldplay’s Chris Martin for giving her invaluable advice when she supported the band on tour.
She explained: “Chris basically said, ‘The crowd always gives you what you give them, so if you give them all your energy and all your love and you connect with them as much as possible easily they’ll give that back to you. It’s like a conversation’.
“When you have an opening slot, that’s a lot harder because oftentimes you just think, ‘All right, let’s get to the real stuff’. Everyone was actually very receptive in a great way. The whole audience, like, every place we went to, from Europe to the U.S., they really embraced us and the music and it was really nice to see that. It was a mature audience.”

Robbie Williams taking kids on tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams is taking his children on tour.
The 42-year-old singer recently unveiled plans for his ‘Heavy Entertainment Show’ stadium shows in Europe in 2017 and is thrilled four-year-old Teddy and two-year-old Charlton -his kids with wife Ayda Field – will be joining him on the road.
He said: “The children will be coming on tour with me – I’m glad.”
However, Robbie is unsure how impressed the youngsters will be with his shows.
He admitted: “Teddy watched my performance on ‘The X Factor’ and looked at Nicole Scherzinger and said, ‘What is that lady thinking?’ And I thought, ‘What is she thinking?’ ”
The ‘Party Like A Russian’ singer has promised the tour will be “huge”.
He said: “My tour is going to be huge. And my temperament is huge – nobody has got a temperament like me.
“My respect for women, nobody respects women like I do. And nobody sings ‘Let Me Entertain You’ or ‘Angels’ like me.”
Robbie’s homecoming shows in Manchester are very close to when his sometime group Take That also play the city, but he is unsure whether it would be possible to join them on stage to mark the band’s 25th anniversary.
He said: “I don’t know if it would be easy. Right now I don’t think it would happen but at some point there will definitely be a reunion.”
The ‘Angels’ hitmaker is also keen to perform at Glastonbury, and would hope his new friend and collaborator Ed Sheeran – who penned a track for his new album – would join him on stage.
He told Britain’s HELLO! magazine: “I would like to be on stage in front of a record-breaking amount of people, so yes, I would love to do Glastonbury.
“It’s not like an arena is more intimate than a stadium, I’m just happy there is an audience who want me, to be honest.
“I would love Ed Sheeran to come and sing with me.”

Michael Stipe 'saved' people with song

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Stipe is proud to have “saved” lives with his music.
The former R.E.M. frontman admits hearing how the group’s song ‘Everybody Hurts’ has touched their fans’ lives is as good as winning an Oscar for him.
He said of the song: “It saved a few [lives]. People have told me. And I love hearing that.
“That for me, that’s my Oscar, that’s my gold on a shelf right there… that something we did impacted someone’s life in such a profound way. That’s a beautiful thing.”
R.E.M. split in 2011 and Michael thinks it was the right time to call it a day as he has retained his friendships with Peter Buck and Mike Mills.
He said: “I think we did pretty well. I man, I actually think our time was pretty spot on.
“Now I get to hang out with Mike and Peter and we’re friends and we have this whole thing to share together.
“But there’s none of the bad tension that we had at our worst of times. All the good tension is there.”
And Peter thinks it was important to quit while they were ahead.
Peter added to MOJO magazine: “The good thing is we’ve kept our friendship so I don’t miss them as people. You know, every band, whether it’s U2 or The Rolling Stones, you get to a point where your past is more important than your present.
“As much as you fight against it, that’s what happens. I just don’t think any of us are the kind of people that want to be doing our greatest songs from 25 or 30 years years ago. The celebration of what we used to do.
“That’s great, but I’ll let other people do it.”

Alicia Keys has self-belief

OHMYGOSSIP — Alicia Keys “always knew” she was talented.
The ‘Empire State of Mind’ singer believes the key to being successful is to be “strong, crazy and belligerent”, and has always believed in herself.
She said: “You have to be strong and a little crazy and belligerent.
“I always knew I was good and what I was doing was going to be good.”
But the 35-year-old star admits she has relaxed a little bit and enjoys her career more now that she has stopped taking things so seriously.
She said: “I used to be very much head down and eyes only on getting ahead and moving forward, but I’ve now realised you can actually achieve more when you lighten up and relax and stop taking everything so seriously.
“I am pleased I had that discipline and you have to be very self-motivated.
“But now I know you need a little magic and it is that mix of intention, action and magic that makes [working] fun.”
But the ‘Girl on Fire’ hitmaker always promises herself she will be “great” at whatever she does.
She said: “I always ask myself, ‘Do you want to be good or do you want to be great?’ Then I tell myself I am going to allow myself to be great. It is very simple, once you say it, you have no option but to do it.”
Alicia admits she can be introspective, but thinks that is good for her work.
She told Britain’s ELLE magazine: “I am definitely more introspective. I am a swallower, not a reactor.
“My mum was a reactor, which is why I am definitely not one. I take things in, it churns and burns into all these emotions and then later I figure out how to verbalise it. OFten, it’s through a song.”

Sharon Jones dead at 60

OHMYGOSSIP — Sharon Jones has died.
The soul singer and bandleader of the Dap-Kings – who was diagnosed with Stage 2 pancreatic cancer in 2013 – passed away at a hospital in Cooperstown in upstate New York on Friday (18.11.16) at the age of 60.
Her representative Judy Miller Silverman said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened to announce that Sharon Jones has passed away after a heroic battle against pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones, including the Dap-Kings.”
Chaka Khan took to Twitter after news of Sharon’s death broke, to say: “My deepest condolences. She was the real deal in this industry.”
Despite Sharon’s diagnosis in 2013, she returned to touring with the Dap-Kings in 2014, after undergoing her first round of treatment.
Speaking earlier this year after the cancer returned as Stage 4, she said: “This cancer is here, and I have to take the chemo. But I want to perform. I just want to be able to get onstage and move.”
She also explained: “When I walk out [onstage], whatever pain is gone. You forget about everything. There is no cancer. There is no sickness. You’re just floating, looking in their faces and hearing them scream. That’s all that is to me.”
Sharon – who was a backup singer and session musician before founding the Dap-Kings in the early 2000s – has been called a “female James Brown” and received her first Grammy Award nomination in 2014 for the album ‘Give the People What They Want’.
The Dap-Kings’ final album with Sharon, ‘It’s a Holiday Soul Party’, was released in 2015.

Mat Whitecross heard Liam Gallagher's demos on helicopter

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher played demos from his solo album to ‘Supersonic’ director Mat Whitecross on a helicopter.
The ‘Live Forever’ hitmaker decided to share the music he is working on for his debut record as they arrived to the premiere of the Oasis film in Manchester and the filmmaker says it’s sounding “epic”.
Mat said: “Well, I’ve got to say one of those bucket list moments in my life was when we got a helicopter to go to the ‘Supersonic’ premiere, he just turns to me and goes ‘Shall we listen to the new album then?’, then he pulls out these speakers and blasted it out as we were approaching Manchester.
“It was epic. It just blew me away. I think everyone’s in for a treat. It’s fantastic.”
Matt echoed Liam’s comments that it is “stripped down” and said he thinks it sounds like ‘Sunday Morning’ rockers The Velvet Underground.
He said: “I probably shouldn’t talk about too much because it’s not my place to say, and it was demos that I Listened to, he hasn’t finished it yet [but] it was very stripped down, very raw.”
Mat also said that he thinks people should give Liam’s record a chance even if they aren’t keen on him because of his outspoken nature.
He told NME magazine: “I know it’s not very fashionable to put people down in the public eye, but I think Liam’s passionate about music now as he ever has been.
“If people gave the new album a proper fair and proper listen, they’re in for a treat.”
Liam Gallagher’s debut solo album is a collection of acoustic tracks inspired by John Lennon.
The 44-year-old rocker recently gave fans a taste of what to expect from his eagerly-anticipated record and one thing he was keen to get across was that it’s nothing like Oasis and has a “vibe” of the late Beatles legend John Lennon.
He said: “It’s a pretty Working Class Hero kinda thing – Lennony vibe, you know what I mean. It’s like acoustic.
“Then there’s a couple of rock and roll tunes on there, but it’s not Oasis man. It’s not f*****g stadium rock, you know what I mean?”

The rock band – comprised of Brandon Flowers, Dave Keuning, Ronnie Vannucci, Jr. and Mark Stoermer – teamed up with frontman Brandon’s school teacher, Ned Humphrey Hansen for the song, who taught him the reason behind the classic Yuletide tune.
The ‘Brightside’ group recently marked the 10th anniversary of their LP ‘Sam’s Town’ with a vinyl reissue and a two-day Las Vegas “extravaganza” and they are currently working on a follow-up to 2012’s ‘Battle Born’.

“I don’t know if we wanna reveal who that is.”
However, that person could be Sir Elton John, who previously revealed his plans to head out to Las Vegas to lend his expert songwriting skills to The Killers.
Elton, 68, said “I’m hoping to go to Las Vegas and write with Brandon Flowers for the new Killers record. So that’ll be interesting.”
Fans can digital download the record now and a limited edition physical LP will be available on December 9.

Metallica's album was inspired by Amy Winehouse's death

OHMYGOSSIP — Amy Winehouse’s tragic death inspired Metallica’s new album.
The heavy metal band’s LP ‘Hardwired… to Self-Destruct’ – their first studio release in eight years – is set to drop on Friday (18.11.16) and features a song called ‘Moth Into Fame’, which is based on a pop star who crashed and burned, and the group have admitted the documentary ‘Amy’ on the ‘Rehab’ singer helped them pen the track.
Singer James Hetfield, 53, explained: “The film about Amy Winehouse inspired me to write that song. It’s a sad movie. Fame can be a dark, dangerous drug. Everybody wants a piece of you. It totally changes your view of the world.”
But, although the majority of the inspiration came from the ‘Valerie’ singer – who sadly died of a drugs overdose in 2011 – the band, which formed in 1981, understands the battle of fame.
James said: “Fame has followed me around since we formed the band. It’s a Pandora’s box that often makes you wonder: ‘Okay, how do I now become unfamous?'”
It’s taken the ‘Enter Sandman’ hitmakers eight years to pen this release and, although James and Lars Ulrich are the founding members of the group, bassist Robert Trujillo, 52, was also allowed to give his two cents this time round.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, Robert said with a chuckle: “At the end of the day, it’s their baby but I was there for the conception.”
Asked why it’s taken them so long to drop a new LP, James – whose band has toured every year since 2011 – joked: “We had a lot of laundry to do after our last tour.”
Metallica remain the biggest metal act on the planet – with more than one billion streams on the digital music service Spotify – and they’re very much aware of that.
Asked who their biggest fans are, James said: “We are our biggest fans, and Lars is the biggest fan of all of us. His entire house is full with Metallica merchandise.”

John Mayer will release 'more music' than ever in 2017

OHMYGOSSIP — John Mayer is set to release “more music” than he’s “ever” released in one year in 2017.
The 39-year-old singer songwriter unveiled his first single in two years titled ‘Love on the Weekend’ on Thursday (17.11.16), which will feature on his forthcoming LP ‘The Search for Everything’, and the star has revealed the compilation features “a lot of songs”, which is more than can be squeezed onto a “standard sized album”.
Speaking in a Facebook Live yesterday, the dark-haired musician said: “There’s a lot of songs for this record. “I’ll put it this way, not to be overly cryptic … but there are more songs that can fit in your standard sized album.”
“[Next year I’ll release] more music than I’ve ever put out in any one year.”
And the Connecticut-born star has revealed he is often left “flattered and moved” when he scrolls through Instagram hashtags about himself.
He explained: “I get the most flattered and moved when I look at Instagram hashtags. I feel like that’s a kinder, gentler Internet.”
Mayer has revealed he is “always” discovering music, both as a composer and listener.
He said: “The day you come online as a person with their own tastes in music, you’ve got a lot of catching up to do.
“For me. I was always discovering music … as a listener and processing it as a writer.”
Although the ‘Gravity’ hitmaker has not confirmed a set release date for his upcoming album, he has admitted it will be “very soon”.
Speaking about the big unveil, he said: “Very soon, I promise.”
Meanwhile Mayer – who dated Katy Perry on and off for three years since 2012 – has hinted he would be “open” to making music with his ex-girlfriend in the future.
Speaking previously about a collaboration, he said: “If the right song came around. I look at great musicians – you write the right song, you send it to somebody, but I don’t have anything in mind at the moment.”

Bruno Mars enlists Halle Berry for album help

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruno Mars enlisted the help of Halle Berry for his new album.
The 31-year-old singer released his first album in four years, ’24k Magic’, on Friday (18.11.16), and has featured the ‘Catwoman’ actress on one of the record’s songs.
Halle, 50, lends her voice to a track called ‘Calling All My Lovelies’, and can be heard speaking the words of her voicemail recording as the Grammy Award winner tries to contact her.
According to People, the lyrics read: “I’m calling all my lovelies (calling all my lovelies) / ‘Cause I can’t get a hold of you / Since you ain’t thinking of me (since you ain’t thinking of me) / Oh, look what you making me do.”
The ‘Die Another Day’ actress then says: “Hi, you’ve reached Halle Berry. Sorry, I can’t get to the phone right now, but if you leave your name and number, I’ll get right back to you.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Just The Way You Are’ hitmaker has said he believes dressing up in his “finest” clothes to head into the studio “kept the motion” of his album going.
He said: “I made it a point: I’m showing up to the studio, we working, but I’m not showing up in sweats ’cause you’re going to get what sweats sounds like … so I’m going to wear every jewellery piece I collected, and my finest shoes, and write some songs. It just helped keep the motion (going).”
The release of ’24k Magic’ comes just days after the ‘Grenade’ singer announced he would be heading out on a whopping 85-date world tour next year in support of the record.
The tour kicks off in Antwerp, Belgium, on March 28, and will see ‘The Lazy Song’ hitmaker travel around Europe before heading to North America to start a lengthy leg of tour dates from July 15 in Las Vegas, all the way through to a four-night stint at The Forum in Los Angeles on November 8, 9, 10, and 11.

The Weeknd to drop two new songs

OHMYGOSSIP — The Weeknd is to release two new songs from his forthcoming album ‘Starboy’ on Thursday (17.11.16).
The ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ rapper – whose real name is Abel Tesfaye – took to Instagram on Wednesday night (16.11.16) to share the artwork for two new tracks both with the caption, “tomorrow (sic)”
One of them is the R&B star’s second single with Daft Punk called ‘I Feel It Coming’ – the follow-up to lead track ‘Starboy’ – and ‘Party Monster’.
Tesfaye recently spoke of his latest studio experience with the ‘Get Lucky’ hitmakers and how their recording studio is very “technical” and like a spaceship.
He shared: “Their studio is like a spaceship, there’s a lot of gear, but the way they make music, the way they explain it, is very cinematic.
“It’s like they’re reading a page out of a novel – ‘We want to make sure that at the end, it feels like the sun’s coming up, and maybe there’s a car chase.’ They can get technical, but it was interesting how they visualise making music.”
The 26-year-old singer has a busy schedule ahead with his album release looming and his first fashion range soon to launch.
The Weeknd’s eagerly-anticipated follow-up to 2015’s ‘Beauty Behind the Madness’ is slated for release on November 25, and also features the single ‘False Alarm’.
