Lil Wayne cancels SummerFall show

OHMYGOSSIP — Lil Wayne cancelled his set at SummerFall in Curacao.
The 34-year-old rapper failed to attend his headline slot at the concert on the Caribbean island on Saturday night (26.11.16), where he was supposed to have joined acts such as Rick Ross, Meek Mill, and French Montana.
According to TMZ.com, festival organisers claim the ‘Sucker For Pain’ rapper suffered from a seizure in Miami on Friday night (25.11.16), as the star has previously dealt with a number of seizures this year including two in the same day whilst on an aeroplane.
However, a representative for the ‘Forever’ musician has denied these claims, instead telling the publication that Lil Wayne – real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr – wouldn’t be showing up to the event due to a “breach of contract”.
No other information was given by the representative, and no reason for his cancellation has been confirmed by either party.
The news comes after the rapper took to Twitter earlier this year to hint at his retirement. The star – real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. – admitted to feeling “defeated” and said he was “done”.
He wrote: “I am now defenseless and mentally defeated & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I’m dun
“ain’t lookin for sympathy, just serenity … I’m good y’all don’t trip (sic).”
Meanwhile, the rapper recently released his memoir ‘Gone ‘Til November: A Journal of Rikers Island’, in which he documents his eight-month stint in the New York prison complex which he served for possession of a firearm in 2010.
In the book, the ‘Mirror’ hitmaker details the brief time he spent within the jail working as a suicide prevention aide.
He wrote: “The job is basically to monitor the top tier [of the jail] for an eight-hour shift and if someone wants to hang up (meaning to kill themselves), to not negotiate with them or try to talk to them out of it, but just to alert and officer.
“You get paid $50 if you stop the person from actually hanging themselves and $25 if you find them hung up. Yeah, it’s that real.”

Jamie T recalls his musical 'fight'

OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie T had to “fight” to make the music he wanted to make.
The 30-year-old singer-songwriter admits that his music has evolved over the years, and Jamie believes he’s earned the right to make the music he’s always wanted to.
He said: “I think that I’ve had to fight for that – the privilege to be able to do whatever I want.
“People always want you to do a certain type of thing, but I’ve always wanted to do something different. I feel like a lot of artists get caught in that. Not just solo artists – bands, too.”
Jamie said that even the likes of David Bowie will have had to go through the same process in order to realise their long-term ambition.
He told MusicFeeds.com.au: “I’m sure even someone like Bowie had it at some point. There are times where I do wish it was a band – you can take certain liberties if it’s just a band name and not just your own name.
“Still, I guess when you’re in a position like mine, there’s no-one to tell you you’re wrong. You’ve got no-one to fall out with but yourself – the problem there is that it could actually happen!”
Jamie performs with a band these days, but initially performed solo with an acoustic bass. He admits that his record label were initially unaware of his ambitions.
He said: “When I got signed, the record label had no idea that I had any greater ambition to make something with a full-band sound.
“I’ve come a long way since then, but it’s definitely something I’d be interested in doing it again. I miss that rapport you have with an audience when you’re on your own – there’s something really fun about that.”

Keith Richards takes swipe at Sir Mick Jagger

OHMYGOSSIP — Keith Richards has taken a swipe at Sir Mick Jagger’s songwriting skills.
The 72-year-old rocker doesn’t care that his Rolling Stones bandmate has already penned 40 new tracks for a potential new record as he would rather do something “really interesting” than be as “prolific” as the singer.
He told Uncut magazine of Mick’s 40 songs: “Being prolific don’t mean s**t.
“I’ve got three songs and they’re dynamite. I don’t want to make any decisions about this until the record comes out because I think it might change Mick’s attitude, it might change mine.
“I want to see the fallout from this record before I decide whether I want to record 40 of Mick’s songs or whether he wants to sit down with me and record some songs together. That’s my thing. That’s my ball there.
“I’ve got a few songs on the back burner and so does Mick – he writes a lot. I don’t.
“I tend to concentrate on two or three really interesting riffs or ideas, rather than being prolific.”
And after returning to their roots with upcoming blues covers album ‘Blue & Lonesome’, Sir Mick is now keen to take the band in a new direction.
He said: “I was writing last night at the end of the baseball match.
“I sat watching the World Series, playing my guitar. But I think it would be nice to do new songs and go in a new direction with them.”

Sex Pistols memorabilia worth millions burned

OHMYGOSSIP — The son of the late manager of the Sex Pistols has burned memorabilia worth millions.
Joe Corre, the son of Malcolm McLauren – who passed away in 2010 – and Vivienne Westwood, set fire to the extensive piles of punk memorabilia on a boat in central London to mark the 40th anniversary since the iconic band’s hit single ‘Anarchy in the UK’.
The total value of the merchandise is thought to be somewhere between £5 million and £10 million, and consisted of clothes, posters, and other music based memorabilia.
Joe – who co-founded lingerie retailer Agent Provocateur – decorated his boat with flags bearing the names of global corporations, as well as burning effigies of British politicians wearing Sex Pistols clothing stuffed with fireworks.
Addressing the crowd of around 100 people on the bank of the River Thames, 48-year-old Joe said: “Punk was never meant to be nostalgic.
“Punk has become another marketing tool to sell you something you don’t need.”
According to reports, Joe’s collection began burning a few days ago, and he plans to continue destroying memorabilia for the next few weeks. He claims his collection even includes rare Sex Pistols recordings, which he also plans on destroying.
Sex Pistols guitarist Glen Matlock dubbed Joe as a “nincompoop” – a foolish or silly person.
He said: “I want to paraphrase Monty Python – he’s not the saviour, he’s a naughty boy. I think that Joe is not the anti-Christ, I think he’s a nincompoop.”

Steps will reform for New Year's Eve

OHMYGOSSIP — Steps are set to reform on New Year’s Eve (31.12.16) to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
The Brit Award-winning pop band – consisting of Claire Richards, Faye Tozer, Lisa Scott-Lee, Ian ‘H’ Watkins, and Lee Latchford-Evans – are set to make a come back for their first stage performance in four years at London nightclub G-A-Y in order to bring in the New Year and celebrate a whopping 20-year anniversary.
It isn’t the first time the ‘Tragedy’ hitmakers have reformed either, having come together in 2011 – ten years since they announced their split – for the documentary series ‘Steps: Reunion’.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “They had a blast getting back together in 2011 and were blown away by the public reaction . . . especially when their arena tour sold out.
“Steps still have such a special place in all their fans’ hearts and they want to celebrate everything they’ve achieved over the past two decades.”
Steps first formed in 1997, and were known for catchy dance-pop singles such as ‘5, 6, 7, 8’, and ‘Chain Reaction’.
During their career, Steps went on to sell over 20 million records, and score 10 singles within the top five of the UK charts.
The band announced their split on December 26 in 2001, and since then the members have split off to create their own projects. Most notably, Claire Richards and H formed a duo named H & Claire, who disbanded when they re-joined their old band mates in 2011.
It is expected the New Years Eve reunion show will spark another tour for the popular group, but it is unknown yet whether that will be the case.

Mel C reveals the benefit of her new relationship

OHMYGOSSIP — Mel C’s new relationship has given her “confidence” in her career.
The former Spice Girls singer – who has seven-year-old daughter Scarlet with former partner of 10 years Thomas Starr – has never felt as supported as she does with Joe Marshall, and is even open to the idea of having more kids.
The 42-year-old star said: “My partner gave me confidence. He challenges me but respects and loves me.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been in a relationship where someone has got my back.
“I’ve never wanted to get married but maybe I’ve never met the person. Life’s complicated. So no plans!
“It would be lovely to think about more children in the future.”
And Mel admitted it took becoming a parent to Scarlet before she felt properly settled for the first time.
She explained to Closer magazine: “It’s a cliche but becoming a mum is life-changing. It was really good for me.
“It made me feel settled, gave me roots.
“I left home at 16 for London and then the Spices happened, so I never really had a home until I had a child.”
Mel would support her daughter if she wanted to follow in her footsteps but she is reluctant to let Scarlet join any form of social media because she thinks the sites are “dangerous”.
She explained: “My mum let me do everything I wanted so I would support Scarlet, but I would air my concerns.
“I’ll keep her away from social media for as long as possible because it worries me. I think it’s a dangerous thing.”

David Bowie was working on more music before death

OHMYGOSSIP — David Bowie was working on another album prior to his death, according to his saxophonist Donny McCaslin.
The iconic musician passed away from liver cancer in January this year, just two days after the release of his last album ‘Blackstar’. Whilst many believe the album was a farewell to his fans, 50-year-old Donny says it “didn’t seem” like ‘Blackstar’ was the end.
Speaking to The Times newspaper, Donny said: “It certainly didn’t seem that it (‘Blackstar’) would be his last record.
“He was going to start writing new music – or maybe he had started; it wasn’t quite clear – but he was in the process of planning a new recording with us. I don’t think ‘Blackstar’ was this goodbye thing.”
Donny also claimed that the ‘Life on Mars’ hitmaker was planning on appearing on stage for the first time in a decade, although he wouldn’t have done a full tour of the album.
He added: “Clearly there wasn’t going to be a ‘Blackstar’ tour but he was going to sit in with us at (New York jazz club) the Village Vanguard. It would just have been him turning up unannounced after rehearsing during the day.”
Earlier this year, Donny and other former collaborators of the ‘Space Oddity’ singer – including bassist Tim Lefebvre, drummer Mark Guiliana and Jason Lindner – announced they would be releasing their own album inspired by Bowie.
The album – entitled ‘Beyond Now’ – includes a number of original tracks written by Donny, as well as cover versions of songs by Bowie, Deadmau5, and The Chainsmokers.
Donny said of the record: “David Bowie was a visionary artist whose generosity, creative spirit, and fearlessness will stay with me the rest of my days. ‘Beyond Now’ is dedicated to him and to all who loved him.”

Keith Richards: I saw Brian Jones' ghost while making new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Keith Richards saw the ghost of Brian Jones when recording the Rolling Stones’ new album.
The group have recorded covers of their favourite blues tracks for new LP ‘Blue & Lonesome’ and the studio sessions brought back strong memories of their late bandmate – who drowned in his swimming pool a month after he quit in 1969 – because they used to play the songs with him.
Keith told Uncut magazine: “The last time I ever played ‘Little Rain’ was with Brian Jones. Now, I’m playing ‘Little Rain’ in the studio and suddenly Brian is looming in front of me…”
Sir Mick Jagger added: “Exactly! You can feel them around you.
“Keith probably thought, ‘I’d better get this right.’
“I just wanted to get the harmonica solo right, I must have learned that from Brian.”
While former member Mick Taylor – who made a number of appearances on the group’s 50th anniversary tour – is a respected blues guitarist and many fans hoped he’d appear on the covers record, the group insist he would have “dithered” too much and hampered the recording process.
Ronnie said: “He would have analysed it too much I think.
“He would have dithered around too much. What he does best is play. Talk about it? No.”
But one special guest who does make an appearance is Eric Clapton, who was recording in the studio next door and agreed to contribute to the Stones’ versions of Little Johnny Taylor’s ‘Everybody Knows About My Good Thing’ and Otis Rush’s ‘I Can’t Quit You Baby’.
Ronnie said: “We maintain that Eric never plays as good as when he plays with us. Something comes out of him. He likes to be a part of a band I think it is.”

Kate Bush didn't intend to stay off stage so long

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Bush never intended to take a 35-year break from performing live.
The ‘Hounds of Love’ hitmaker undertook a 22-date residency at London’s Hammersmith Apollo in 2014, her first set of shows since her initial tour in 1979, but she insists her reputation as a recluse wasn’t deliberate, it is just that she spends so long recording and making videos.
She said: “It wasn’t designed that way, because I really enjoyed the first set of shows we did.
“The plan at the time was that I was going to do another two albums’ worth of fresh material, and then do another show.
“But of course, by the time I got to the end of what was ‘The Dreaming’ album, it had gone off on a slight tilt, because I’d become so much more involved in the recording process.
“And also, every time I finish an album, I go into visual projects, and even if they’re quite short pieces, they’re still a huge amount of work to put together.
“So I started to veer away from the thing of being a live performing artist, to one of being a recording artist with attached visuals.”
But the 58-year-old singer admitted her long hiatus from performing meant she felt “very nervous” about getting back on stage because she worried she wouldn’t be “any good”.
She admitted to the Independent: “Yes, I was very nervous. I wasn’t sure if I would be any good, that was my concern.
“I knew that I would enjoy putting the show together – in a lot of ways, I approached it as if I was making a really long video, because a lot of my visual work is quite theatrical, so this theatrical work would be quite filmic, it would be a natural progression.
“But I was very nervous about going onstage and performing.”
Thankfully, the ‘Running Up That Hill’ singer received a positive reception every night.
She added: “But the response was just beyond anything I could have wished for, every night, the audiences were so excited and so responsive.”
Two shows from the tour were filmed, but Kate has no intention of releasing the performance on DVD, and thinks her live album, ‘Before the Dawn’, is much more “exciting”.
She said: “People are surprised that there’s no DVD of the show, but I’d like to mention this live album that Elton John put out, ’17-11-70′, which was something that I loved so much.
“To have an album where you could imagine what the show was, I found that incredibly exciting, and in a way, this live album is almost more representative of what it was like to be at the live show.”

Matt Healy thinks 1975's album is perfect

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Healy thinks The 1975’s latest album is “perfect”.
The outspoken singer loves the group’s “cinematic” LP ‘I Like It When You Fall Asleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It’ – which was released in February – and says he and his bandmates went on a “really exciting creative bender” in the recording studio.
Matt – who is joined in the band by George Daniel, Adam Hann and Ross MacDonald – is so impressed by his own work, he thinks there is little that could be done to make the record better.
He said: “We wanted it to feel very cinematic and it is almost the length of a film. We got to the point where we were told it wouldn’t fit on a CD if we carried on. It was just this really exciting creative bender, and the more ridiculous it got, the more subversive it got.
“There’s f**k all wrong with the album. Nothing. It’s perfect for me. I could spend another two years on it and maybe make it three per cent better.”
Though he hasn’t been approached to do so, Matt insists the 1975 will headline both Glastonbury and the Reading and Leeds festivals in the next few years.
Outlining his plans for the group, the 27-year-old frontman told the new issue of NME magazine: “We’ll put something out next year, whether it be a single or an EP, album in 2018.
“[We will] headline Reading and Leeds that year, headline Glastonbury the year after or the year after that..
“I mean, I haven’t got the offers yet. But I tell you now, I’m doing it. Who else is going to do it?”

Emma Bunton confirms leaked Spice Girls track is real

OHMYGOSSIP — Emma Bunton has confirmed the leaked Spice Girls GEM song ‘Song For Her’ is the real deal.
The 40-year-old beauty – who is better known as Baby Spice in the group – has revealed the track, which was posted online on Tuesday (22.11.16) and sent social media into overdrive is them, but it was not planned to be their big comeback single.
She told MailOnline: “We wrote something and it got leaked and it got stolen which is not great but we’ve had nice feedback.”
Asked if it is the lead single, she added: “No, it was just a great fun song we wrote together.”
However, as it was “stolen”, the three-minute upbeat pop tune marks the musical return of Emma, Geri Horner and Mel B, who have come together again without bandmates Victoria Beckham and Mel C, who have refused to participate in the comeback.
‘Song For Her’ is a chorus-heavy track about female empowerment, with the girls repeatedly singing in harmony: “This is a song for her/ You know you light it up/ You know who you are/ Stand up, stand up/ She’s got that boom-boom pop/ That’s something they can’t stop/ She’s got that song for her.”
The girls were originally tipped to reunite this year, which would have marked the release of their breakthrough hit ‘Wannabe’, but Mel B admitted they are still finalizing the details of their comeback.
She previously shared: “We are going to do something, us three. We’re going to perform and celebrate together for the people.
“I think because we’re a British band, we’re probably going to start in London and work our way round.”
The girls returned to the recording studio in November, but the specifics of their plans are still to be confirmed.
It has, however, been revealed that Victoria and Mel C will not participate in the project.

Alan McGee believes Oasis will reform without Noel Gallagher

OHMYGOSSIP — Oasis will reform in 10 years’ time but Noel Gallagher will not be involved, the band’s former manager Alan McGee believes.
The iconic rock group split in 2009 following a massive backstage bust-up between brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, but Alan has predicted a scenario in which singer Liam leads a reunion without his older sibling.
He mused: “I think it will get to a stage when Liam takes them back on the road, maybe in 10 years or something. There is a massive fan base of younger people who never had the chance to see them live.”
However, Alan cannot see Noel returning to the band given the bad blood that still exists between the 49-year-old singer/songwriter and Liam, 44.
Alan told The Scotsman newspaper: “He’s my pal, I know how he thinks, and he doesn’t need it. The two of them don’t get on. It’s not an act.”
Acknowledging the bad blood that exists between Liam and Noel, Alan – who signed Oasis to his Creation Records label and helped them become the biggest band in the world – has claimed the recently released documentary film ‘Supersonic’, which charts their phenomenal rise, reaffirmed his belief that the brothers cannot work together again.
He previously said: “I can’t see Noel Gallagher going back and doing it. If anything came out of that film [‘Supersonic’], it was that it’s done, it’s finished, don’t spoil the f***ing legend.”

Robbie Williams tunes out pop for sport when driving

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams prefers to listen to sports radio than music now.
The 42-year-old pop star doesn’t enjoy tuning in to modern pop when he’s driving around with his wife Ayda Field and their two kids, daughter Teddy, four, and two-year-old Charlton, and prefers to set the dial to UK sports chat station talkSPORT to keep up to date with the latest soccer news.
When asked what he likes to listen to in the car when he’s with his children, he told The Sun newspaper: “Ah, talkSPORT! I have control of the radio. I’m such a guy I listen to football. But the kids now have got their own little iPad and they’ve got ‘Peppa Pig’ going on, ‘Sofia the First’ and Chuggington. I am such a guy I’m listening to football at the front.”
It seems Robbie’s no-music rule in the car is closing his kids off from the wealth of music in the charts.
The ‘Party Like A Russian’ singer recently revealed little Teddy thinks he’s the “only” singer in the world.
He said: “Teddy, my daughter, thinks that the only person who sings in the world is me.”
The part-time Take That member says having a family has completely transformed his life for the better and has helped him overcome many of his personal demons.
He said: “Having kids is an emotional atomic bomb. It’s a reason to live and a reason to go to work. And this is the best job in the world, but it’s a job.”
