Bruce Springsteen 'to dedicate the next four years to Donald Trump'

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruce Springsteen has pledged to spend the next four years speaking out against Donald Trump.
The 67-year-old singer-songwriter is an outspoken critic of the new US President and has promised to dedicate the next four years as part of “the new American resistance” to Trump.
Speaking during a show in Perth, Australia, he said: “The E Street Band is glad to be here in Western Australia.
“But we’re a long way from home, and our hearts and spirits are with the hundreds of thousands of women and men that marched … in every city in America and in Melbourne who rallied against hate and division and in support of tolerance, inclusion, reproductive rights, civil rights, racial justice, LGBTQ rights, the environment, wage equality, gender equality, healthcare, and immigrant rights. We stand with you. We are the new American resistance.”
Earlier, the rock legend said his band will continue to shine a light on perceived social injustices.
Bruce explained: “We observe and we report, we witness and we testify, and hopefully through doing so we lift up and help people transcend and we try to inspire people during tough times.
“It’s been our job for 40 years and it will continue to be so in the next coming years.”
Meanwhile, Bruce recently confessed he finds it “frightening” when he plays new music for the first time, despite being one of the best-selling artists in history.
The ‘Born in the USA’ hitmaker shared: “You work on an album in a hermetically sealed environment. One of the most frightening things is playing it for someone else. For the first time you’re hearing it through their ears.
“They’re just sitting there, but you’re hearing the thing totally brand new through their ears. And you’re recognising all its faults and all its strengths. So the thing about coming out in front of an audience every night is that I’m hearing what I’m doing through that audience’s ears.”

Céline Dion records 'original' song for Beauty and the Beast remake

OHMYGOSSIP — Céline Dion will perform an “all new original song” for the upcoming ‘Beauty and the Beast’ movie.
The 48-year-old singer famously sang a version of the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ theme song for the soundtrack of the original 1991 animated Disney feature, and has now revealed she will once again lend her voice to the franchise with a new track ‘How Does A Moment Last Forever’, which will appear in the upcoming live-action remake.
Taking to Facebook on Thursday (19.01.17) to share the news, Céline wrote: “I am thrilled to announce that I’ll be performing an all-new original song, ‘How Does A Moment Last Forever’, for Disney’s live-action ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Being a part of the original film was such a magical experience in my life, and I’m truly honored to be a part of this film again. – Céline (sic)”
And whilst the ‘My Heart Will Go On’ hitmaker is busy recording her own music for the soundtrack, the task of creating a revamped version of the theme song – which was originally performed by Angela Lansbury before being recorded by Céline – has fallen to Ariana Grande and John Legend.
Meanwhile, ‘Harry Potter’ actress Emma Watson will also be singing as part of her starring role as Belle, something which she previously admitted she was nervous about.
Emma explained that whilst she was “excited” to be given the iconic part, she was nervous about lending her voice to the role because she’s been out of practice for so long.
She said: “It’s so crazy. I was so excited. It was nerve-wracking for me because I’ve sung as a child in plays and I loved it, but I just hadn’t done it in such a long time, it was like learning to ride a bike again.”
‘Beauty and the Beast’ is expected to hit theatres in March.

Clean Bandit admit they almost split

OHMYGOSSIP — Clean Bandit had “problems” that almost led them to split.
The ‘Rockabye’ hitmakers once considered going their separate ways, but Luke Patterson insists it wasn’t as a result of bandmates Grace Chatto and his brother Jack Patterson ending their romantic relationship, although their split did make life in the band awkward for a while.
Luke recalled to Q magazine: “It was a bit weird. With Jack and Grace, I always had to pick and choose when to stay out of the way and when to try and help, but that time [when they split] I totally stayed out of the way. It was turbulent.”
Asked if they had considered splitting, he added: “No, not in relation to that…[Why?] Just other problems.”
In order to curb the difficulties of being so close after ending their romance, Jack opted out of a tour with the band, which had some positives.
Grace said: “When Jack and I broke up, we decided that Jack would stay at home and start writing the second album, rather than tour with us.
“The happy side of that is that Jack wrote loads of amazing stuff.”
Last August, the ‘Rather Be’ hitmakers saw the departure of violinist Neil Amin-Smith, who quit by email.
But the remainder of the band weren’t too surprised as they knew it hadn’t been Neil’s long-term goal to stay in the group.
Grace explained: “There has always been a lot of strings to his bow…
“We’ve always been quite committed to making it a big project. [Wasn’t Neil?] Well, he was when he was.”
Luke added: “He’d had enough.”
And the trio haven’t seen much of Neil since he left, apart from a few unplanned meetings.
Of his encounter with the musician, Luke laughed: “I was half-naked to be honest. The wrong half too.
“We were in the changing room at the gym.”

Paul Young: 'I used to take Rohypnol to wind down after concerts'

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Young used to take Rohypnol to wind down after concerts.
The ‘Everytime You Go Away’ singer admitted that he used to be so full of adrenaline after gigs that he needed sleeping pills to relax but he had to quit taking Rohypnol, now commonly known as the date rape drug, when it got banned.
He told the Sunday Mirror: “When I perform I still feel quite youthful, about 35, but it’s very different from back in the day. Then, if I was playing to 10,000 people, the adrenaline level was so high it took me a long time to wind down after a show. I would get slightly pissed, and if that didn’t work I would drop a sleeping tablet.
“I used to have Rohypnol. If you took half a tablet you slept for exactly four hours, if you took a whole tablet you slept for exactly eight hours. But it got banned because it became known as a date rape drug. I’m still on a real high after being on stage, but these days I will have a couple of glasses of wine and I’ll be ready for bed.”
Paul, 61 will reunite with stars including Martika, Toyah and China Crisis for the ’80s Invasion Tour’ and while he genuinely loves performing for his fans, he also admitted he tours for the cash.
He said: “I love touring and being on the road, I’ve done it for so long it’s part of who I am. But I do it for the money too, not just the love. You don’t make money from making a record these days, you have to tour. I always need more spare cash!”

John Mayer's ambitious album

OHMYGOSSIP — John Mayer wanted his new album to be as ambitious as possible.
The 39-year-old singer/songwriter is releasing his latest record ‘The Search For Everything’ in stages, starting with four songs and he believes it is some of his best work.
He told Rolling Stone: “My starting point is, ‘I want to leave the Earth as a writer’. I wasn’t interested in doing anything I’ve done before, and I wanted to stoke the fire of abstraction and just start punching hard.”
John also hopes that people will be so impressed with his first four songs that they will want to buy more.
He explained: “The price of admission is four songs. If you don’t like these, don’t get the next four. But if I’ve engendered some kind of trust that you think I’m onto something, get the next four, and come along with me on every single wave.”
And John says working on the track ‘Love On The Weekend’ was particularly special as he knew he was creating something great.
He explained: “Writing ‘Love On The Weekend’ was the experience of all the best songs I’ve ever written, when you’re going to go home and obsess all night because you know you’re onto something and you know it’s only going to get better when you go back and work on it the next day.”

U2 struggling with song selection

OHMYGOSSIP —
U2 admit choosing songs for their album is an “ordeal”.
The ‘One’ rockers have been working hard on the follow-up to 2014’s ‘Songs of Innocence’ and though they are not short of material, it will be a challenge to narrow down what they have to the tracks that will make the final cut.
Bassist Adam Clayton said:” We’ve an abundance of great ideas and it’s really about identifying what to finish and how to finish it.”
The Edge added: “That’s the gift and the curse of this record.
“The ordeal is getting all four members to agree on the same dozen songs.”
The group have never been shy about speaking up on political issues, but with controversial candidate Donald Trump about to be inaugurated as US president and the UK agreeing to leave the European Union, the band insist they don’t feel a “responsibility” to raise the issues in their work – but still want to “have a go”.
The Edge said: “I don’t know if we feel a responsibility so much.
“Just that there are moments where you just feel like, ‘Wow, someone has got to write a great song about this and hopefully it will be us, so let’s have a go.’
“Coming out of the post-punk era, we were inspired by The Clash, Patti Smith, Television – innovators who also had one foot in the worlds of poetry and literature and the other in political activism. That’s deeply embedded in our band.
“One of the reasons we write a song is to crystallise something of significance for ourselves and, hopefully, other people.”
However, Adam is unsure whether rock music is now the right platform on which to take a stand because the political climate is so complicated.
He told Q magazine: “I think the world has changed a bit. I’m not sure that within the culture that music is the best medium any more.
“There’s so much noise out there anyway, people saying this, that and the other, that I think music is a little bit insecure as regards what its role is in these situations.”

One Direction songwriter hits out at Trump

OHMYGOSSIP — A One Direction songwriter is “heartbroken” that ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ was played at the Inaugural Ball.
Savan Kotecha – who co-wrote the group’s debut single – is not happy that The Piano Guys performed his song to celebrate Donald Trump’s presidency and took to Twitter to share his disappointment.
He tweeted: “They were absolutely NOT given permission to use WMYB at the inaugural ball. I will be looking into taking action (sic).”
He later added: “There’s nothing I can do re WMYB now, but the song was written out of love for my wife. It’s just heartbreaking that it was used to celebrated a man who stands for divisiveness (sic).”
And he told Billboard: “I wrote ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ for my wife. To me the song is about love, joy, and acceptance. The fact that it was used to celebrate a man who stands for divisiveness and bigotry breaks my heart. I am the son of immigrants. My children are biracial. A ‘Trump America’ makes me worried for their future.
“I’m sure there is nothing I can do about the use of the song at the inauguration now, but i felt I needed to express my disappointment.”

Paul Weller's birthday album goal

OHMYGOSSIP — Paul Weller is determined to release two more albums before he turns 60.
The ‘Changingman’ hitmaker is close to releasing his 13th solo record, ‘A Kind of Revolution’, and is already working on an acoustic-based follow-up that he wants to get out before his milestone birthday in May 2018.
He said: “I wanna try and get it out for my 60th.
“I can’t f**k about man. I gotta get on with it. There’s so much to do.”
The former Jam frontman is calling for a “spiritual revolution” on his next record.
He said of ‘A Kind of Revolution’: “I think it’s more to do with human or social politics really.
“It’s like, ‘Where’s the new peace movement?’ It feels like the stirrings of World War III and obviously we can’t let that happen.”So really, it’s about having some kind of spiritual revolution born out of love, compassion and hope, as opposed to a revolution where everyone slaughters even more of each other.”
One track on the record, ‘One Tear’, features guest vocals from Boy George and Paul is thrilled with their collaboration.
He told Q magazine: “I really love George’s voice and I think he’s just got better with age and time.
“Our voices work really well together.”

Louis Tomlinson's 'accidental' solo career

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Tomlinson’s solo career was an “accident”.
The 25-year-old One Direction singer admitted he wasn’t even sure he wanted to release his own music when the band went on hiatus last year but after meeting and working with Steve Aoki, 39, they came up with new track ‘Just Hold On’.
Speaking to Carson Daly on 97.1 AMP Radio, Louis said: “It kind of happened by accident, if I’m being honest. I didn’t really know that I wanted to do anything on my own. We just started trying things, and actually, this is one of the first songs that we wrote and recorded, so we got lucky, really.”
And their collaboration started with a simple Twitter follow.
Louis explained: “We went to go watch a Calvin Harris show. Calvin pulled out and then Steve did the set and, yeah, we were absolutely blown away. We had an amazing night.
“And then after that night, I messaged Steve on Twitter and said, ‘Great show. Do you want to work together?’ And here we are…It’s quite romantic!”
The pair debuted their track with a performance on ‘The X Factor’ in the UK, just days after Louis’ mother passed away following a battle with leukaemia and the star admitted having Steve by his side was reassuring.
He said: “Especially with the emotion and everything, it all just whizzed by so quickly. I mean, I was terrified at the time, but yeah, it was a real moment and it really helped me going out on my own by having Steve there with me. You know, as my first performance, I wasn’t completely alone.”

Ozzy Osbourne to continue solo career

OHMYGOSSIP — Ozzy Osbourne has vowed to go solo once Black Sabbath complete ‘The End Tour’.
The heavy metal group are coming to the end of their last ever concerts together but the legendary singer – who has enjoyed a successful solo career alongside his role in the band – insists that doesn’t mean he will be retiring altogether.
He said: “It’s not one of those bulls**t retirements – this is it [for the band]. I’m not stopping, but for Sabbath, it’s over.
However, while their last concert is slated to take place on February 4 in their hometown of Birmingham, England, the group may return again for a one-off 50th anniversary gig later this year.
Geezer Butler said: “It would be nice to do one-offs. We’ve got the 50th anniversary coming up soon! You do just have to say, ‘This is the last one. Be nice to do something for the 50th though. If we’re still here.”
And guitarist Tony Iommi still isn’t ruling out the possibility of new material from the ‘Paranoid’ hitmakers in the future.
He told MOJO magazine: “There might be a one-off, but we won’t be touring again. It really will be strange. I’ve lived this since day one. Ozzy had his own thing, Geezer’s come and gone, Bill’s come and gone, but I’ve been there all the time. I hope we can do something in future, a recording or something. We’ll see.”
