'Perfectionists' Nicki Minaj and Madonna

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicki Minaj and Madonna are “perfectionists”.
Diplo worked with Madonna on her ‘Rebel Heart’ album and recently collaborated with Nicki on the song ‘Run Up’ and he says the two stars are incredible to work with because of their attention to detail.
He told Billboard: “[Nicki] seems like so untouchable to me, like she seems so far away and untouchable. But when you get in reach of her, she’s so down to earth. It’s really cool to finally meet an artist like that who really understands how to perfect a verse. Because I have so many songs now, like four or five a week, and go through them real quick. And she takes her time on the record – I like that vibe too. Artists like her or Madonna, some of the people I’ve worked with, are perfectionists and I can appreciate that a lot more when some hip-hop artists just run through songs so quickly. It’s cool to take some time to finish a song.”
However, he admitted that Nicki’s perfectionism meant that she was changing the song right up until they recorded it.
He explained: “I was happy with the first [verse]. I was definitely like, ‘Ooh, I’m good,’ but she was like, ‘Nah, let me try again, let me try again,’ and it kept going until the last time when I was like, ‘Yo, we’re mixing this tomorrow.’ I was like, ‘You can’t write any more, I gotta mix this, we gotta release this now. This is it.’ But the final one’s perfect. She’s so good with her timing and style and adding an extra bar or whatever. She’s the master. ”

Colin Hanks' healing documentary

OHMYGOSSIP — Colin Hanks made the documentary ‘Eagles of Death Metal: Nos Amis (Our Friends)’ to help the band cope.
The new film follows the group on their journey back to perform in Paris in February 2016, following the terror attack at their gig in the city’s Bataclan in 2015 and Colin said he wanted to make the documentary so that his friends could finally move on from the tragedy.
He told Entertainment Tonight: “I’ve known these guys in the band for a long time. They’re my close friends.
“When they were going back to Paris to finish their concert and resume their tour, I thought it would be an interesting opportunity to show something positive and to show people collectively coming together and moving on with their lives. From that initial idea sprung this movie that really sort of transcends the subject matter and is really a story about friendship and people who care about each other and the lengths that people will go to, to help their friends.
“And, selfishly, it’s also an excuse for me to be able to help my friends move on with their lives so they don’t have to speak about this publicly again.”
Josh Homme tried to talk Colin out of making the movie at first but is happy his friend went ahead with it.
He said: “Because I like him. I told him, you don’t have to be part of this. Stay away. And he chose not to, which I think is an extremely kind and noble and giving thing to do for your friends.
“I trust Colin and I love Colin, and I hope that you like it. … [The terrorists] may have started the sentence, but the punctuation needs to be something more and something beautiful, and that’s what’s important.”

Charlie XCX release After the Afterparty Rita Ora remix

OHMYGOSSIP — Charli XCX has released a new remix of her single ‘After the Afterparty’ featuring Rita Ora.
The 24-year-old pop beauty has teamed up with her ‘Doing It’ collaborator on the new rendition of the hit song along with rising stars Stefflon Don and Raye – who were both nominated for the MTV Brand New Award 2017 – and she says they are the most “badass superstars” she’s ever met in the music business, which she admits is “weird”.
On the new version, she said: “I only wanna work with people who know how to party, so Raye, Steff and Rita were the ONESSSSS! I love collaborating with girls, and these three are honestly three of the most talented, badass superstars I’ve met in this weird industry. This song is fire.”
Both London-based MC Stefflon Don and XCX have been in the studio with the producer of ‘After The Afterparty’, FRED, who returns on production duties for the stellar VIP mix, which is out now.
The ‘Boom Clap’ hitmaker is currently working on her new album, which she previously teased is a “big pop party album to get f***ed up to”.
The buxom brunette is known for her party animal persona and she has teased that her next record – the follow-up to 2014’s ‘Sucker’ – will emulate that rather than her hatred towards the music business.
She said: “On my previous record, I was really annoyed at the music industry and felt like I had something to prove.
“After that, I didn’t feel I had anything to prove anymore.
“Also one of my favourite hobbies is partying, and I realised that I never actually made a party album.
“I never made an album that I would want to hear at a club.
“It was very indulgent in that sense because I just wanted to make an album that I could get f****d up to.
“It’s the soundtrack to might nights.”

Rag'n'Bone Man isn't interested in fame

OHMYGOSSIP — Rag’n’Bone Man isn’t interested in fame.
The ‘Skin’ hitmaker – whose real name is Rory Graham – wishes he could “erase” the celebrity aspect of his job and admits has even blocked people online who have said negative things about him.
Although, he admits that he has a “temper” and has had to learn to rein in his anger towards people who say mean things on social media, he accepts that there are always going to be “d***heads” who don’t like you.
He told the latest issue of NME magazine: “In fact, I don’t really want it. If I could erase that side of it, then that’d be cool, but … I think you can’t concern yourself with the fame thing, or with what people say about you, because there’s a lot of d***heads in the world and unfortunately social media has given those d***heads voices. I just block everybody now. I’ve got a bit of a temper and sometimes I’ll just bite, so I’ve had to learn to be like, ‘OK, instead of that I’ll just f***ing block you straightaway. I don’t want to know your b******s’.”
The 32-year-old soul singer is gearing up to release his debut LP ‘Human’ and says he’s happy he signed with Columbia Records because other labels wanted to mould him into a certain style, and he admits he is impossible to “put in a box” because he’s not “box-sized”.
Asked about his first major singing, he said: “They want to make you the next someone else, and I’ve never heard that about myself, which is nice. It’s never been ‘You’re the next such and such’ because they can’t figure it out. They can’t fit me in a box, which is good. I’m not really box-sized, am I?”
Rag’n’Bone Man’s album drops on February 10, and he is nervous that people who like his smash hit single ‘Human’ might be surprised by the rest of the record, which has a lot of hip-hop sounding tracks.
He explained: “There are really three parts to the album and there’s, like, quite a lot of hip-hop on there. I guess it is a worry that people who love ‘human’ might think they’re buying the album and that’s a blueprint for it, but it’s definitely not. Hopefully they’ll be pleasantly surprised.”

Serge Pizzorno researching ancestry

OHMYGOSSIP —
Serge Pizzorno has been inspired to start researching his ancestry after seeing Danny Dyer on ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’
Kasabian’s guitarist and songwriter is on a mission to find out if he is also related to a member of the royal family after seeing that the ‘EastEnders’ star’s ancestors are William the Conqueror and Edward III and Thomas Cromwell on the BBC TV show, but fears his will be crooks and criminals.
The 36-year-old rocker told The Sun newspaper: “I watched Danny’s episode and I was buzzing.
“I think everyone deep down must have some royal connections.
“The reality is, it’s probably a load of criminals and wrong-uns.
But I’ve got Italian family so I’m delving in there, who knows what I’m going to learn.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Fire’ hitmaker says the group – also comprised of Tom Meighan, Chris Edwards and Ian Matthews – worked best recording their new album by sticking to “office hours” for once, and found the sessions much more productive, meaning Serge has had plenty of time to look into his family’s history.
On recording their hotly-anticipated follow-up to 2014’s ’48:13′, he previously said: “I changed the way I worked this time because I usually keep horrendous hours. I tried giving myself office hours.
“It’s amazing what you get done when you’ve got to be finished – ‘It’s got to be done because it’s f***ing home time, mate.’
“Usually at half four, you’d have a spliff and watch films for seven hours and then you’d put some guitar on a track at three in the morning, but this time I was like, ‘S**t, it’s half four I’ve got an hour and a half left. That bass needs to go on.’ ”

Mariah Carey working on new music

OHMYGOSSIP — Mariah Carey is working on new music.
The ‘We Belong Together’ hitmaker dropped her new single, ‘I Don’t’, on Thursday (02.02.17), which was inspired by her break up from James Packer, and promised she was working on more new music already.
She said: “I’m gonna be doing singles, because it’s more fun for me to just write singles and not focus totally on doing one whole album. It seems like a lot more fun to just sit down, write a single, collaborate.
“Hopefully, at the end of that process, there will be an album and I can give it to you guys with some new songs as well as the songs that I’ve been working on.
“I’m working on another song [right now], it’s a secret project with a friend of mind that’s an incredibly talented artist. I’m not gonna say his name, but you’ll hear about it soon and we’re going to be working on the video soon.”
The song was first unveiled on last week’s episode of Mariah’s E! reality show ‘Mariah’s World’ and the singer confirmed the music video would be coming out on Friday (03.02.17).

Wyclef Jean 'stalked' Emeli Sande before their collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — Wyclef Jean “stalked” Emeli Sande to convince her to appear on his new album.
The 47-year-old star is a long-time fan of Emeli and has revealed he was desperate for her to appear on his new record ‘Carnival Vol. III: Road to Clefication’, saying she is one of the best writers he’s ever worked with.
He shared: “Emeli Sande is one of my favourite singers in the world. I stalked Emeli Sande. We started actually working at Puffy’s studio, Bad Boy and then after that we went to my studio.
“I think John Lennon had ‘Imagine’ and I think Wyclef and Emeli Sande got ‘Carry On’.
“Emeli as a writer is one of the best I’ve ever worked with hands down. And trading bars and trading rhymes was amazing. Her melody schemes are just incredible.”
Meanwhile, Wyclef has hailed former US President Barack Obama’s influence on hip-hop, arguing that the culture owes him a debt of gratitude.
He told XXL magazine: “Obama will go down as the voice of our generation because we could not be in Congress. We could not be in those dinners.
“Nah, we didn’t have that executive order to pass the pen. I think that Obama has made us better people. What seemed too unrealistic to me, to my daughter is so natural. And I love that.”
Wyclef said the genre should appreciate President Obama and his influence.
He said: “I think that hip-hop owes Obama gratitude. Like I said, certain things we would do, because of Obama, we wouldn’t do them anymore because we owe him that gratitude.
“Like, don’t put the gun on that Instagram. You don’t need to. Really think about these things because he has pardoned a lot of people, you know what I mean? So, gratitude, let’s really be thankful.”

Kaiser Chiefs use Nerf guns to keep fit on tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Kaiser Chiefs use Nerf guns to keep fit on tour.
The ‘Parachute’ hitmakers – comprised of Ricky Wilson, Simon Rix, Nick ‘Peanut’ Baines, Andrew White and Vijay Mistry – like to have fake battles backstage with the toy gun which fires foam ammunition.
Speaking to Absolute Radio’s Christian O’Connell, frontman Ricky admitted: “We’ve got loads of Nerf guns, we’ve got a case … a flight case full of them. It’s a good way of keeping fit, we find.”
The craze has been part of their fitness regime over the last six months and works best at venues with “lots of rooms and corridors”, and the 39-year-old vocalist joked that if Nerf was around in the 60s, The Beatles wouldn’t have split up.
He quipped: “It’s kind of like a Laser quest set up but you change allegiances to whoever’s annoying you within the band. If only The Beatles had had Nerf they would have stayed together. Stay Together – new album from the Kaiser Chiefs.”
Ricky says he was the one that got the band into Nerfs and his influence led to his bandmate Simon spending over £100 on the toys.
Ricky recalled: “Well, I was the instigator of the Nerf war. I was the Trump of the whole thing. I had my finger on the button. So, I started it and then everyone’s kind of got addicted. Simon started being a bit hands-off, cos he’s a pacifist but then he went to Toys R Us immediately and spent about 120 quid, which is a lot of Nerf.”
Kaiser Chiefs are gearing up for their 2017 arena tour in support of their sixth studio LP ‘Stay Together’.

Kylie Minogue's BMG record deal confirmed

OHMYGOSSIP — Kyle Minogue’s record deal with BMG has been confirmed.
The Australian pop superstar is said to be “better than ever” since inking the deal, according to label boss Alex Cory-Smith.
The blonde beauty – who parted ways with Jay Z’s Roc Nation management company in 2015 following a series of professional disappointments – will join her former Parlophone boss Jamie Nelson at the label, following a frantic bidding way.
It was reported that Universal were also keen to get Kylie to sign to them for her comeback but the star opted for BMG UK because of her previous working relationship with Jamie.
Kylie’s last album under-performed in the charts and she was reportedly also disappointed that many promised sponsorship deals and endorsements never materialized so she has decided to make a break from Jay Z’s company last year.
A source said at the time: “The deal just didn’t work out for either side and she thinks they didn’t ever understand her as an artist. Her last album was nowhere near as successful as she hoped. She now wants go in a different direction.”
Kylie’s contract with Jay Z’s firm – which is home to stars such as Rihanna, Calvin Harris and Shakira – ended after the Australian leg of her ‘Kiss Me Once’ tour.
Kylie is looking to reclaim her crown as queen of dance pop and wants to build on the success of the single ‘Right Here, Right Now’ which she recorded with legendary Italian producer Giorgio Moroder.
The source explained: “Kylie’s got new music ready to go that she’s made with Nile Rodgers, Disclosure and Giorgio. She wants to take more control of her career. Kylie’s also keen to do more acting. She has signed with a big name agent in the US.”
The 48-year-old singer sparked speculation she’s started recording vocals for her much-awaited 14th studio album by sharing a picture of her microphone on Instagram last week.
Alongside the photo, she wrote: “So, yeah…… this is happening (sic)”, along with the microphone emoji.
The ‘Locomotion’ star has a lot of things she wants to achieve with her professional life over the next year as she previously revealed she wants to make a follow-up to 2014’s ‘Kiss Me Once’.
Before the festive period, she said: “I’d love to make a new pop album and go on tour.”

Drake offers free gig after Travis Scott falls off stage

OHMYGOSSIP — Drake has promised to refund 20,000 fans after Travis Scott fell off stage at his gig at The O2 in London on Wednesday (01.02.17).
The Canadian rap star has made the generous pledge to his fans after Travis suffered the embarrassing fall while performing ‘Goosebumps’ on the latest leg of Drake’s Boy Meets World tour.
Travis, 24, tripped into a hole in the middle of the stage, damaging part of the set, and then disappeared for a short while before Drake helped him back out.
Although Travis didn’t appear to be seriously injured, his tumble broke a huge globe, which formed a key part of Drake’s on-stage performance.
Consequently, the rapper told his fans he was doing the show “for free”.
The ‘Hotline Bling’ star repeated the generous offer later in his performance, telling the crowd: “London England, I love you, I hope you enjoyed your free show.”
Meanwhile, Drake is rumoured to be one of a number of high profile artists who is considering snubbing this year’s Grammy Awards.
The 30-year-old star is said to consider the annual awards bash to have become irrelevant, especially to younger artists.
Drake has received as many as eight nominations for the show on February 12, but will apparently persist with his tour rather than fly back to the US to attend the Grammys.
Other big-name stars rumoured to be considering skipping the event include Justin Bieber, who has received four nominations, but reportedly intends to be somewhere else on the night as he regards the ceremony as unrepresentative.
Meanwhile, it’s been suggested Kanye West will also shun the Grammys in protest against perceived racism.
A source recently said that the trio consider the Grammys to be “out of touch”.
