Mariah Carey: YG was the 'perfect' collaborator

OHMYGOSSIP — Mariah Carey says YG was the “perfect” collaborator for her new single ‘I Don’t’.
The 46-year-old singer teamed up with the ‘Why You Always Hatin?’ rapper for the single – which was teased on the final episode of her reality show ‘Mariah’s World’ and officially released on February 3 – and has said the star was the perfect person to work with because he was so “focused in the studio”.
She said: “[YG] was very focused in the studio. He wrote his rhyme and then out of nowhere, he came up with the ‘I know you love me’ part and I loved that section. I feel like he was a perfect collaboration because he really focuses on what he’s doing.”
And the ‘Without You’ hitmaker admits she always knew she wanted someone to join her on the track, but was only put in touch with YG, 26, after her agent Chris Hart recommended him “24 hours” before the song was finished.
Mariah added: “I knew we would want someone featured on it but it wasn’t until Chris Hart, my agent, was like, ‘Do you know YG? We rep him. Would you want to put him on a song?’ And I was like, ‘Of course.’
“So we got together, and it was literally 24 hours from the intro to the completion of the whole thing. I loved working with him in the studio as well.
“He actually got the idea to do that little singing part in the middle of recording and then we kind of moved it around afterwards.
“I loved starting the record off with him because it feels like more of a collaboration.”
The ‘We Belong Together’ singer also recently dropped the video for ‘I Don’t’ which sees her set fire to the dress she was supposed to marry ex-fiancé James Packer in before they cancelled their engagement.
Now, the beauty says she’s “always wanted” to perform the stunt in a video.
She told Billboard magazine: “I’ve always wanted to burn a wedding dress in a video. So we took this opportunity to do that because in the ‘We Belong Together’ video, I told [director] Brett Ratner in post, I wanted to burn the train of the wedding dress, which was actually the real wedding dress that I wore in one of my many endeavours into marriage. He wouldn’t light the train up so I was like, ‘You know what? I’m gonna do this myself.'”

Carly Rae Jepsen admits Donna Summer is her musical inspiration

OHMYGOSSIP — Carly Rae Jepsen’s new album is inspired by Donna Summer.
The 31-year-old singer is currently in Sweden working on her latest record and has offered fans an insight into what they can expect from the album, admitting that it’s got a strong disco sound.
Asked if she’s still inspired by a 70s vibe, having previously cited ABBA and the Bee Gees as influences, Carly said: “I would say more Donna Summer than the Bee Gees. That would be the disco inspiration that’s leading the pack at the moment.
“That said, some of the songs that have surprised me have not been in the disco realm as much. I can’t really put my finger on what it is, but that’s exciting too. There’s so much music out there right now and so much quality stuff, so I’m trying to find out what I have to offer that’s different.”
And while Carly remains some way off finishing her new album, she is relishing the creative process.
The chart-topping star told Entertainment Weekly: “I’m just really enjoying being in the thick of it. I’d say there’s a lot of work left to do, but I’m definitely finding some new sounds for me, which is always the goal: to challenge what you did last time, to break some rules, and to discover new places where you want to go musically.
“I categorise myself as a bit of an over-writer. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, but it definitely has become part of my process.
“I can’t quite seem to just write eight or nine songs and call it a record. I think on this record alone I’m up to at least 42 songs. I’m like, ‘Okay, narrowing it down!’ but I’m still continuing [to write and record].
“I know that by the time I’m finished I’ll have a whole little catalogue – the secret ones that nobody hears, and the ones that I feel are really special and put out there.”

Zara Larsson was too scared to meet Beyoncé

OHMYGOSSIP — Zara Larsson was too scared to meet Beyoncé when she supported the R&B megastar for the London dates of her ‘Formation World Tour’.
The ‘I Would Like’ hitmaker joined the R&B megastar for her concerts at Wembley Stadium which she was honoured to be asked to do because the former Destiny’s Child member is one of her pop idols.
However, when Zara, 19, was presented with the chance to speak to Beyoncé, 35, she chickened out because she didn’t know what to say to her hero.
In an interview with Newsweek Europe, the Swedish star said: “As soon as I heard, ‘Beyoncé’s coming in the hallway! Beyoncé’s coming!’ I just went straight back to my dressing room. I was hiding because I was so scared. I thought, ‘I can’t meet her. What am I supposed to tell her? I just can’t explain enough how much I love her … everything’s just going to be corny.’ I said, ‘F**k it, I’m not going to do it because I don’t know what to say and I’ll start crying hysterically. I’ll be professional and try to keep it together this time.’ I couldn’t though – I cried all concert.”
Zara admits the shows had a lasting impression on her.
The blonde starlet has always wanted to emulate Beyoncé and watching her incredible live performances gave Zara the drive to match her.
The ‘Ain’t My Fault’ singer shared: “You can wake up tomorrow and feel like, ‘I don’t want to do this anymore.’ But as long as I care to remember, that’s been my dream. Sometimes it stresses me out because people are like, ‘You’re so young, you’re only 19,’ but I’m not even close to where I want to be. I’m on my way but I just want to release my album, go out on tour, and do all of these things. I hope I have the drive. For me it’s all or nothing in a lot of situations. Beyoncé is all. It’s good to have someone like that to look up to.”

Keisha Buchanan wants to become a rapper

OHMYGOSSIP — Former Sugababes star Keisha Buchanan wants to launch a career as a rapper.
The 32-year-old singer has revealed she has a dream of becoming an MC and has spilled that she and her ex-bandmate Mutya Buena came close to creating a rap group similar in style to 2000s UK garage ensemble So Solid Crew before they formed the Sugababes with Siobhan Donaghy.
In a series of posts on Twitter, Keisha revealed: “I low key wanna be an MC so bad. Every time I listen to Giggs, Kano, Stormzy etc I just picture myself battling … Weird fact: Just b4 the Sugababes started Mutya & I tried to start a crew … kinda like a smaller female version of So solid lol And I still have our lyric book LOL! I just need to stick to singing. But there is a small part of me that would soooo join a crew (if the world wasn’t so bloody honest LOL) (sic)”
The ‘Push the Button’ hitmaker’s rap plan was met with a mixed response on the social networking site with some followers urging her to go for it and others telling her to stick to singing.
In response to the haters, Keisha tweeted: “Jokes, See what I’m saying?!! Lol you don’t rate me already! This is exactly why I need to let this dream go … You’re hating! Mans could of been one of the top MC’s … chat bout (sic)”
However, one person who is very supportive of Keisha becoming a rapper is her famous friend and fellow singer Dionne Bromfield.
Dionne, 21, posted: “Please make this happen somehow!”
Prompting Keisha to reply: “Will you be there when I get boo’d?! Or disown (sic)”
The ‘Mama Said’ singer then tweeted her pal: “Ok, ok… how about a private show. Just for me?! (sic)
To which Keisha promised: “Deal.”
Although she may not be rapping yet Keisha is due to release new music in 2017 with her fellow original Sugababes Siobhan and Mutya under their new name MKS.
MKS released the song ‘Flatline’ in 2013 but have been quiet ever since, but Siobhan, 32, revealed last year the trio had been busy in the studio and intended to have songs out this year.
Siobhan spilled: “Sugababes have got a record coming out. I can’t tell you the exact date.”
The first ever album released by the girls was 2000’s ‘One Touch’, which included the hits ‘Run For Cover’ and ‘Overload’.
However, shortly after the album was released Siobhan quit the group with Heidi Range taking her place.
In 2005, Mutya left stating she could no longer commit to the band after giving birth to daughter Tahlia Barrymore in March of that year.
Mutya was replaced by Amelle Berrabah, which meant Keisha was the only original Sugababe left.
However, she quit in 2009 to be replaced by Jade Ewen before the final incarnation of the pop group disbanded in 2011.

Chas and Dave singer Chas Hodges vows to beat cancer

OHMYGOSSIP — Chas and Dave singer Chas Hodges has vowed to beat cancer.
The 73-year-old star, who was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus, is determined to battle the disease and has called it an “unwelcome visitor” that won’t be around for “long”.
He said: “At the minute, I feel fantastic. The good news is that it’s been caught early, it hasn’t spread and they can do something about it. As far as I’m concerned, this cancer is an unwelcome visitor that won’t be staying long. It’s turned up and I’m thinking, ‘You’re gonna be out on your ear, chum.'”
The ‘Ain’t No Pleasing You’ hitmaker first realised something was wrong when he struggled to swallow anything on tour with his bandmate and musical partner in crime, Dave Peacock, shortly before Christmas, but he says doctors will be able to treat it by unblocking the tube.
He recalled: “I was having trouble swallowing. I remember drinking a glass of water and it wouldn’t go down quickly. I couldn’t guzzle it down.
“I thought, ‘That ain’t right.’ They checked me out, and they found the tube was a lot smaller than it should be. It was a bit like going down a blocked sink. I just have to unblock my sink and I’ll be alright.”
Despite the difficult news, Chas – who has children, Nik and Kate with his wife Joan – remains positive that the cancer will be treated successfully and so are his family.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “I’m not putting on a brave face, I actually feel up about it and I think the feeling is going through my family. I feel optimistic and so do they, that’s the genuine feeling. I feel good about it. I feel up because something is being done about it, I feel up because it’s been caught early. I’m touching wood.”
Since the news broke on Monday (06.02.17) Chas has had further tests at hospital with more planned for Friday (10.02.17) and they he’ll start chemotherapy.
He explained: “I’ve had a tube down my throat to look at the oesophagus, where they spotted the cancer. Then they’re going to have a look around my stomach on Friday. The doctor said he ‘doesn’t expect’ he’ll find anything, but they’re going to have a look – they just want to be sure. Then I start the course of chemo next week. I’m hoping to be up and running at the beginning of next month. Fingers crossed, that’s the plan.”
The ‘Snooker Loopy’ singer is prepared for the side-effects from treatment and isn’t worried about losing his hair as he is more focused on getting it “sorted”.
He said: “But I’m(not) bothered one way or another, really. I wear a hat anyway. It’s how I feel, that’s the main thing. I’ve known people who have had chemo and they can feel sick and groggy. They said it affects different people in different ways but I’m ready for it. I can’t wait to get in there and them to get it sorted.”
The pair were about to go on tour again later this month but the Potter’s Bar, Norwich and Milton Keynes dates have been postponed following piano player-and-singer Chas’ medical issue.
But he is confident that his vocals will be back up to speed once he’s on the road to recovery.
He added: “I won’t lose my voice. In actual fact, the older I get, my voice is better now than it’s ever been. I can hit higher notes. I don’t know why, but I’m not going to argue with it. It’s nice to know certain things get better when you get older.”

Liam Gallagher set to perform tracks from Oasis' Be Here Now

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher is reportedly set to play Oasis tracks at his upcoming solo shows that haven’t been performed live in 20 years.
The 44-year-old singer formerly fronted the super-group – which also included his brother Noel Gallagher before he quit in 2009 – and after announcing a number of festival appearances later this year including Lollapolooza in France, Exit Festival in Serbia, and Spain’s Benicassim, the star is starting to put together a set list littered with Oasis tunes.
According to UK radio station Radio X, an insider has revealed Liam is rehearsing a number of tracks from the band’s 1997 album ‘Be Here Now’, including ‘D’You Know What I Mean?’, ‘Stand By Me’, ‘My Big Mouth’ and ‘Don’t Go Away’, in a bid to attract fans desperate to hear some of their favourite Oasis tunes.
He is also said to be rehearsing ‘Born On A Different Cloud’ – which he penned for the group’s 2002 album ‘Heathen Chemistry’ – ‘Bring It On Down’, ‘Whatever’ and beloved B-side ‘Listen Up’.
Liam’s decision to pick these Oasis tracks is believed to be because he wants to do something different to 49-year-old Noel, who regularly performs singles such as ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ and ‘Wonderwall’ during his performances with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
The insider added: “He wants to give fans something they’re not getting from Noel.”
Liam has a busy year ahead as he’s currently working on his debut solo LP, and according to his pal Richard Ashcroft, he is to play a show with the former Verve singer later this year.
Asked whose offer he would accept if both Liam and Noel – who have barely spoken to since Oasis ended in 2009 – asked to perform with him, Richard said: “I would have to politely tell them both that I had something else on and stay at home.
“I played a show with Noel a few months ago and I’m playing with Liam later in the year.”

Tony Iommi on possibility of new Black Sabbath album

OHMYGOSSIP — Tony Iommi says Black Sabbath haven’t ruled out the possibility of recording new music despite finishing their final tour.
The ‘Paranoid’ hitmakers have not long wrapped their ‘The End’ tour with their last-ever hometown show in Birmingham, which saw the iconic heavy metal group perform on Saturday night (02.05.17) with a two-hour concert at the NEC Arena, and the 68-year-old lead guitarist says they may even do the odd gig in the future.
Speaking on Planet Rock radio, he said: “I’m going to miss playing on stage because that has been my whole life, the band and playing on stage. I like [playing on stage] and I’m sure it’s not going to end like that; I’m sure we might do a one-off show somewhere.
“It’s just the touring for me – It’s time to stop roaming the world and be at home for a bit … I’m still going to write and put stuff out.”
Quizzed on whether they’ve decided there won’t be a follow-up to 2013’s ’13’ LP, Iommi said: “No, I don’t think we’ve ruled anything out apart from me not wanting to tour anymore on that scale, but who knows, we may do something. We haven’t spoken about it.
“That’s another thing – we haven’t talked about anything, really, that’s to do with what’s going to happen afterwards.
“But I’m sure something can happen somewhere.”
Iommi made the decision to give up travelling on the road with the band – also comprised of frontman Ozzy Osbourne and bassist Geezer Butler – after being diagnosed with lymphoma cancer in 2013.
The guitar hero says he is looking forward to spending some time at home and plans on writing and recording music still and he has some other “exciting” projects in the pipeline.
He said: “It’s nice to take some time off and really think about it.
“I’ve been offered quite a lot of stuff at the moment, It’s quite exciting. There are lots of different things coming in, things I would never have thought, to be honest. It’s all there and needs some thought. I don’t want to rush into anything.
“Thing is, when you’re touring, you’ve got to go out for six, eight, 12 months or whatever and you’ve got a schedule that you have to do. Now … If I want to do some TV for a month, I can do that.”

McFly have 'a good chunk' of their album done

OHMYGOSSIP —
McFly have finished a “good chunk” of their new album.
The ‘All About You’ group – which also features Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones and Dougie Poynter – haven’t released a new record since ‘Above the Noise’ in 2010, and the hunky bass player says they are well on the way to completing their sixth studio effort, but he says they won’t be rushing to release it.
He told The Sun newspaper: Writing is fun but it’s hard.
“It takes a lot of time but we were away for a while.
“It won’t be out until it’s ready but we got a good chunk done.”
Meanwhile, the 29-year-old rocker is set to star in upcoming British film ‘The Academy’ after he landed the part after taking acting lessons and successfully auditioning to play superhero Hale, who is “captured in a big plot twist”, and has teased that he has more movie work in the pipeline.
He added: “I’ve started shooting the film.
“That’s here in the UK. There are other things too, but I can’t say. I’m very excited.”
A previous update on their eagerly-anticipated record came from drummer Harry, 31, in December, who said their break made them a better band.
At the time, he said: “We definitely want to keep progressing and growing as a band. Danny has been working a lot in the studio this year in production, Tom is a brilliant writer and Dougie has been out acting and doing other things so he’ll be bringing in some new influences and stuff.
“There are already a couple of songs that I think we’ve got that we all love, and hopefully we’ll all be going in the same direction.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Metallica’s James Hetfield is on vocal rest.
The heavy metal group were forced to cancel their show at Copenhagen in Denmark on Sunday (05.02.17) due to the 53-year-old rocker suffering with his throat.
The ‘Enter Sandman’ hitmakers were scheduled to perform four shows at the city’s Royal Arena and managed to perform the first one on Friday (03.02.17), but had to inform fans that the first date would have to be rescheduled to September 2, due to Hetfield’s doctor’s orders.

OHMYGOSSIP — Black Sabbath have played their last-ever gig in Birmingham.
The iconic heavy metal group – who were formed in the city – brought down the curtain on their legendary career on Saturday night (04.02.17) with a two-hour concert at the NEC Arena, where they ended the evening’s entertainment with a performance of their first hit, ‘Paranoid’.
The gig brought the band’s The End Tour, which began in the US in January last year, to its conclusion and Ozzy Osbourne thanked fans for their loyal support of the group.
Ozzy, 68, said as he left the stage: “Thank you, goodnight, thank you so much.”
Ozzy formed the band alongside guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward back in 1968.
The so-called Prince of Darkness quit the group in 1977 and was replaced by Rainbow’s Ronnie James Dio, but the original line-up made their return in 1997.
Ozzy, Tommy and Geezer were joined on stage at the final shows of the tour by drummer Tommy Clufetos and keyboard player Adam Wakeman, and their last-ever song was broadcast live over Black Sabbath’s Facebook page.
Speaking prior to the final gig, Ozzy admitted he was experiencing “a whirlwind of emotions”.
He told the BBC: “I remember playing the Crown pub in Birmingham and thinking, ‘This’ll be good for a couple of years – drink a few beers and have a jam’.
“But it was the beginning of the most incredible adventure you could think of. I’ve had the best life out of it.”
He insisted, too, that there was no chance the band will make a comeback in the years to come, insisting the Birmingham gig represents the end of the road for them.
He said: “This is definitely it. It’s run its course.”
However, fans of the iconic rock group have already been asked to contribute memorabilia towards an exhibition celebrating the band’s legacy, which will tour internationally next year.

Lady Gaga announces world tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga has announced a world tour.
The 30-year-old singer took to Twitter in the early hours of Monday (06.02.17) morning to share an image with her fans which alluded to a world tour in support of her recently released album ‘Joanne’.
The image, posted with no caption, features the ‘Perfect Illusion’ singer wearing a pair of sunglasses which feature the word “Joanne” in the reflection.
More text on the image simply reads: “Lady Gaga world tour.”
As of the time of writing, no dates have yet been announced and no further news has been made public.
The tweet comes just hours after the ‘Born This Way’ musician wrapped her action packed performance at the Super Bowl half-time show at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, which saw her glide across the field attached to a harness, drop her mic, catch a football, and exit the stage by jumping off of it.
After her performance, the ‘Million Reasons’ singer was reportedly spotted backstage by the locker room bursting into tears.
A source said: “She was so happy with her performance. It was everything and more than what she expected.
“She is so emotional now and so pleased. She thanked everyone involved with this production. She is so kind and thankful to everyone working with her.”
Meanwhile, the upcoming tour will serve as Gaga’s seventh stint on the road, and has previously told fans they can expect more extravagant shows the next time she takes to the road.
She said back in October 2016: “What I would say to those who are terrified that I’ll never again embrace absurdity or the avant-garde is ‘think again’ because that is my favourite thing.”
