BRIT Award nominee Stormzy gets his door kicked in by police

OHMYGOSSIP — BRIT Award nominee Stormzy had his door smashed in by police.
The 23-year-old Croydon rapper is shortlisted for a gong at the 2017 BRIT Awards next week (22.02.17) after he was nominated in the Best Breakthrough Artists category alongside Anne-Marie, Blossoms, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man and Skepta.
But the hip hop star – real name Michael Omari – was on the receiving end of a break-in rather than a breakthrough during the early hours of Tuesday (14.02.17) when he was woken by the sound his door being smashed in by police.
The grime artist, from Thornton Heath, had attended the ELLE Style Awards on Monday night (13.02.17) but just hours later he took to Twitter to vent his frustration over the “mistaken identity” forced entry.
He tweeted a picture of his broken front door, with the caption: “Woke up to Feds destroying my front door coz apparently I’m a burglar who burgles his own home. @metpoliceuk need your bank details still (sic).”
The Met Police are yet to officially comment on the incident.
But he isn’t confident he will be refunded the cost of the damage. In a reply to a fan who claimed they too previously had their door smashed in by mistake, Stromzy wrote: “Bro trust me I ain’t holding my breath lol proper d**kheads. (sic)”
Stormzy gained a name for himself of the underground grime scene, went on to perform on Later with Jools Holland, won two MOBOs and declared that he will be the “biggest thing to come out of Croydon”.
Stormzy is set to start his ‘Gangs Signs & Prayer Tour’ next month (23.03.17).

Chance The Rapper 'very involved' with DJ Khaled album

OHMYGOSSIP — Chance The Rapper is “very involved” with DJ Khaled’s new album.
The 41-year-old record producer is set to release his 10th studio album ‘Grateful’ later this year, and although the ‘No Problem’ rapper is unable to divulge any details because the project is “super top-secret” he says he plays a large part in the making of the record.
When asked about his work on the album, Chance said: “It’s actually super top-secret, but I’m very involved in the project and shout-outs to DJ Khaled for coming up on 10 summers.”
The 23-year-old rapper also gave insight into what it’s like to work with DJ Khaled.
Asked by Billboard magazine what advice he was given whilst in the studio with the producer, he said: “Love more. That’s his thing. Love is key and that’s real.”
The news comes after DJ Khaled recently dropped a new single entitled ‘Shining’ -which features married couple Beyoncé and Jay Z – in the aftermath of the Grammy Awards on Sunday (12.02.17).
On the uptempo track, Beyonce takes the lead and she adopts a boastful tone, singing: “All of this winning/I’ve been losing my mind.”
Later, she says: “Money don’t make me happy/ And a fella can’t make me fancy/ We smiling for a whole ‘nother reason/ It’s all smiles through all four seasons.”
Jay, meanwhile, makes reference to the couple’s recent announcement that they are expecting twins later this year.
The New York-born rapper says: “One ain’t enough, I need two.”
Jay goes on to say: “Ran to the dealer, bought twin Mercedes’/ The European trucks for the twin babies/ Don’t let me have a son, I’m a
fool/ Send him to school in all my jewels/ I want a boy and girl I fight for truth/ Whatever God give me, I’m cool.”
As of yet, no release date has been confirmed for ‘Grateful’.

Ryan Tedder feels it's a 'slap in the face' when he doesn't get a hit in his home country

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Tedder thinks getting a hit single everywhere in the world except his home country is a “slap in the face”.
The 37-year-old singer and songwriter – who is the lead vocalist of OneRepublic – has vowed never to pick the singles he plans to release and has given that responsibility to his manager, his wife Genevieve, his friends, and people with “good ears” in a bid to make his music more successful in America.
He told PEOPLE: “We’re the worst at picking our singles. I’ve basically told the label, my manager: ‘From now on, I’m gonna ask you, I’m gonna ask my wife, I’m gonna ask a couple good buddies of mine who have really good ears, and that’s it’. I’m not even gonna have a vote anymore because I have no idea. It is frustrating when you have a song that’s a hit everywhere else but your home country — it almost feels like a slap in the face.”
And the ‘Counting Stars’ hitmaker – who co-wrote and produced Adele’s singles ‘Rumour Has It’ and ‘Remedy’ – has credited the ‘Hello’ hitmaker as a “singular talent” and a “unicorn” among a group of musicians who want to be on her level.
Speaking about the 28-year-old British star, he said: “Adele is just a singular talent; she’s a unicorn amongst a sea of people that want to be unicorns. She’s a true original, and I think part of her success lies in the fact that she sounds like nothing else on radio.
“She has a once-every-couple-decades voice.”
And Tedder has praised Taylor Swift, 27, as being “the most talented writer” he has ever worked with.
He explained: “Taylor is more high-energy, more intense and active, like I am.
“She’s probably the most talented writer I’ve been in the room with. Taylor’s constantly switching between left brain and right brain. A lot of artists I work with are very right-brain, just artistic – it’s hard for them to think any more like cerebral fashion, they’re just purely artistic right brain. Some of the most successful people you’ll find are equal left and right brain.”

Camila Cabello: I want to collaborate with Ed Sheeran

OHMYGOSSIP — Camila Cabello wants to work with Ed Sheeran.
The 19-year-old star, who walked away from Fifth Harmony in 2016, has revealed she is a huge fan of the British pop singer and has admitted she would relish the opportunity to collaborate with Ed in the future.
She shared: “He’s incredible at putting love, emotion, and feeling into words. I would love to see him go into a room and watch how he makes his magic.
“He always talks about how he loves making songs from the heart, and that’s something that I’ve pushed myself to do in my songwriting process, too.”
Meanwhile, Camila has also opened up about her relationship with fellow pop star Taylor Swift, revealing she turns to the ‘Blank Space’ hitmaker for love advice.
However, she also observed that they both share a passion for making music.
Camila told Seventeen magazine: “Taylor is always the person that I go to for boy advice.
“The reason we became friends was purely because we think the same way about a lot of things: We’re both really sensitive and emotional when it comes to love. We love love, and we love writing songs about love.”
And despite her seemingly acrimonious split from Fifth Harmony, Camila has insisted she wishes the band nothing but success in the coming years.
She explained: “I’ll continue to wish them all the best, and I’m happy they are continuing their journey as Fifth Harmony.
“I’m also looking forward to hearing new music from the group and their solo endeavours.”

Big Sean: I'm honoured to work with Eminem

OHMYGOSSIP — Big Sean says it “meant a lot” to him to work on his own music with Eminem.
The ‘Blessings’ hitmaker has collaborated with the 44-year-old rapper before but it has always been on his music so he was thrilled when Eminem agreed to work on ‘No Favors’ off Big Sean’s latest album ‘I Decided.’
He said: “It meant a lot to me because it was my album. Last time, it was for his project, which was an honor too, but I’m just happy that he got to be a part of it. It means so much to me and to our city, I feel like it’s going to be big.
“Just the things he’s talking about on there and brought to the table were things that definitely needed to be said. I was glad that he could bring that perspective to it. The true meaning of a feature is to add something that’s not already there to a song and he more than did that.”
And the 28-year-old rapper also revealed he doesn’t write his raps before heading into the studio and prefers to just “freestyle” instead.
He told Time magazine: “I made the commitment to lay it all out on the table as an artist. It’s a sacrifice and a privilege to be able to do that. It’s a privilege to be able to talk about my life, it’s therapeutic for me. If I can motivate somebody else or excite somebody else or inspire somebody else, that’s the whole purpose of it.
“The process is just me being real with myself on every song. I also always meditate before I go to the studio – I feel like it’s a spiritual process, the inspiration kind of goes through you. I don’t even write my raps, I just get in the booth and think them … Not necessarily a freestyle process, but I’ll think of one line, I think of the next line, I just kind of lay it down, do a little more.”

Ed Sheeran's Teenage Cancer Trust show

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran will perform at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the Teenage Cancer Trust gig series.
The ‘Shape of You’ hitmaker will take to the stage at the iconic London venue on March 28, completing the week’s line up, which also includes The Who, Paul Weller, Pet Shop Boys with Johnny Marr and Olly Murs.
He said: “It’s an honour to be asked back by the Teenage Cancer Trust for their fundraising week of live gigs. It’s such an important cause and one that I’m extremely proud to be a part of. See you on March 28 and let’s raise loads of money for young people with cancer.”
The 25-year-old singer had a triumphant return to the spotlight after taking a year away from the industry.
The flame-haired singer set rumours swirling he was making a comeback when he started to post blue pictures all over his social media accounts.
Ed’s blue posts were soon followed with a video of him holding a sign, saying “New music coming Friday” and from there, in a set of teasing Instagram posts, Ed announced the title of his two new singles – ‘Castle on the Hill’ and ‘Shape of You’ – as well as the name of his brand new LP, ‘Divide’.
The new music topped the charts following its release and Ed took to social media to thank his fans for their support.
He wrote: “Truly overwhelmed with the reaction to these new songs. I’ve never had anything like this, thank you for all your wonderful messages.
“Now please blast them out as loud as you can from every speaker you can find, as many times as you can!”
Ed’s new chart success and the announcement of a UK and Ireland tour came nearly a year to the day after he revealed he would be spending some time away from the spotlight.
He said at the time: “Hello all. I’m taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while, I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last five years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed. (sic)”
Tickets for Ed’s Teenage Cancer Trust show go on sale on February 17 at 9am.

Jay Z and Beyonce star on new DJ Khaled track Shining

OHMYGOSSIP — DJ Khaled released a new track featuring Jay Z and Beyonce in the aftermath of the Grammy Awards on Sunday (12.02.17).
The 41-year-old record producer – who previously collaborated with Jay on the hit single ‘I Got the Keys’ in 2016 – released ‘Shining’ via the streaming service Tidal after Beyonce won two Grammys at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Jay goes on to say: “Ran to the dealer, bought twin Mercedes’/ The European trucks for the twin babies/ Don’t let me have a son, I’m a fool/ Send him to school in all my jewels/ I want a boy and girl I fight for truth/ Whatever God give me, I’m cool.”
Beyonce revealed she is expecting twins in a recent Instagram post, which quickly became the most liked photograph in the website’s history.
The ‘Drunk in Love’ hitmaker’s post smashed the previous record set by Selena Gomez, who had garnered 6,315,187 likes for her picture of her drinking a can of Coca Cola.
Displaying her baby bump, Beyonce captioned the record-breaking photograph: “We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. – The Carters (sic)”

Prince's estate to release 'unreleased gems' from back catalogue

OHMYGOSSIP — Warner Bros. Records is set to release a number of “unreleased gems” from Prince’s back catalogue.
The ‘Little Red Corvette’ hitmaker tragically passed away last year from an accidental overdose of fentanyl at the age of 57, and Warner Bros. Records has now announced it will be opening the Paisley Park vaults to bring fans two albums worth of previously unheard tracks to keep the memory of the late singer alive.
Alongside the new songs, the Paisley Park estate will also release a re-mastered version of the star’s 1984 smash hit record ‘Purple Rain’, as well as having plans to unveil two new concert films.
In a statement posted to Pitchfork, the record company said: “When we make any of Prince’s music available to fans – from the hits to unreleased gems – we are committed to upholding Prince’s high creative standards and we know fans will be thrilled when they hear these albums and see these films.”
All of the new material – as well as the re-mastered album – will be made available on June 9.
The announcement comes as the star’s full catalogue was made available on all streaming services including Spotfiy, Apple Music, and Google Play on Sunday (12.02.17) in celebration of the 2017 Grammy Awards.
Previously, Prince’s music was pulled from all services except Tidal in 2015, but Paisley Park estate sued Jay Z’s Roc Nation – who own the service – after claiming it didn’t have exclusive rights to stream Prince’s discography.
A statement from Cameron Strang, chairman & CEO of Warner Bros. Records, read: “Prince recorded his most influential and popular music during his time with Warner Bros. and we are deeply aware of our responsibility to safeguard and nurture his incredible legacy.
“Warner Bros. is thrilled to be able to bring Prince’s music to his millions of fans around the world via streaming services, fittingly on music’s biggest night.
“We’d like to thank Prince’s estate, Universal Music Publishing, the Grammy Awards and all of the streaming services for their great collaboration in making this landmark event possible.”

David Bowie and Adele lead Grammy winners

OHMYGOSSIP — The late David Bowie and Adele led the winners at the Grammy Awards with five each.
The ‘Starman’ hitmaker – who died of cancer in January 2015, just days after releasing his final LP ‘Blackstar’ – had never triumphed at the annual ceremony during his lifetime, but on Sunday (12.02.17) evening, he was named as the winner in every category he was nominated for.
Bowie scored wins for Best Rock Song, Best Rock Performance, Best Alternative Music Album, Best Recording Package and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical.
His son, Duncan Jones, later shared a throwback photo on Twitter and wrote: “So proud of you dad! Would hold you up forever. #grammys2017 (sic)”
Meanwhile, Adele was stunned to beat out Beyonce for the coveted Album of the Year prize and insisted her idol’s ‘Lemonade’ album should have picked up the accolade instead of her own ’25’.
She broke down in tears on stage at Los Angeles’ Staples Center and said: “I can’t possibly accept this award.
“I’m very humbled and I’m very grateful and gracious, but my artist of my life is Beyoncé and this album to me, the ‘Lemonade’ album, was just so monumental.
“It was so monumental and so well thought-out and so beautiful and soul-baring. We all got to see another side to you that you don’t always let us see and we appreciate that. All us artists here adore you. You are our light!”
And speaking backstage after accepting the accolade – which she snapped in half in order to share it with Beyonce – Adele admitted a piece of her had “died” when she realised she’d won.
She said: “A piece of me died inside. I felt like it was her time to win. What the f**k does she have to do to win album of the year?”
As well as Album of the Year, Adele also scooped Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year for ‘Hello’, and Best Pop Vocal album.
She also performed a tribute to the late George Michael, which she had to start again after becoming overwhelmed with emotion.

Frank Ocean slams Taylor Swift's 1989 LP as he fires back at Grammy producers

OHMYGOSSIP — Frank Ocean slammed Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ record as he fired back at the Grammy Award bosses who blasted his performance on the show in 2013.
The 29-year-old singer admitted his appearance at the annual awards bash three years ago was “absolute s**t” but insisted “the most faulty” TV moment ever was, in fact, seeing Taylor’s LP scoop the prestigious Album of the Year gong over Kendrick Lamar’s ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ last year.
Writing in a post on Tumblr on Saturday (11.02.17) night after producer Ken Ehrlich and writer David Wild blasted him for refusing to submit his 2016 LP ‘Blonde’ for consideration in the category this year, he said: “Winning a TV award doesn’t christen me successful. Yea yea my 2013 performance at the Grammys was absolute shit. Technical difficulties, blah blah.
“F**k that performance though. You think that’s why I kept my work out of the Grammy process this year? Don’t you think I would’ve wanted to play the show to ‘redeem’ myself if I felt that way?
He went on: “I’ve actually been tuning into CBS around this time of year for a while to see who gets the top honour and you know what’s really not ‘great TV’ guys? ‘1989’ getting album of the year over To Pimp A Butterfly. Hands down one of the most ‘faulty’ TV moments I’ve seen.(sic)”
Frank added that the ceremony puts millions of people “to sleep” and they’re being forced to turn to YouTube to watch their favourite performers from the night.
He added: “Believe the people. Believe the ones who’d rather watch select performances from your program on YouTube the day after because your show puts them to sleep. Use the old gramophone to actually listen bro, I’m one of the best alive.”
Grammy bosses Ken and David hit out at Ocean after he said the show was “dated” and out of touch with young black artists, but they believed his gripe was actually over his shoddy 2013 appearance.
They told Rolling Stone: “We executed his vision knowing that it was faulty. And we tried to tell him that, we tried to tell his management that, we tried to tell the record label that. So, his feelings about the Grammys right now, I would imagine, probably go back to that in one way. But honestly, it wasn’t us.”

Ed Sheeran ditched half the songs he wrote for his new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran scrapped half the songs he’d recorded for his new album.
The ‘Shape of You’ singer hadn’t had the reaction he’d hoped for on his third LP when he finished it last summer, so acted on the advice he was given by producer and frequent collaborator Rick Rubin and ditched some of the tracks.
He recalled: “[Rick Rubin] walked out of the house and said, ‘Write more songs.’
“I was like, ‘Oh, ow.’ No one was jumping for joy at the label and I thought there must be a reason. So I looked at it again and scrapped six songs.”
And the 25-year-old star wasn’t upset by the criticism as he knows the key to longevity is to be willing to take advice.
He told GQ magazine: “It is my vision – but the reason those artists who have a light that shines for five years then disappear is they don’t listen to other people.
“I can’t think I know everything. I know how to write a song and put together an album of good songs, but sometimes it’s difficult to tell which songs should or shouldn’t be on an album.
“But ultimately the album has improved because of it.”
Ed – who is in a relationship with former school friend Cherry Seaborn – often writes songs that he has no intention of recording because he finds it a useful way of venting his feelings.
He explained: “I get out the darkness in my life through a song.
“There’s loads of songs that never get recorded that are just me being in a mood.
“Instead of sending a long email or having an angry phone call, I write a song then bin it. It happened on this album. It’s a very good outlet for emotion.”

Grammy producers slam Frank Ocean

OHMYGOSSIP — The Grammy Awards producers have slammed Frank Ocean.
Ocean refused to submit his 2016 album ‘Blonde’ for considering for the annual awards show, calling it “dated” and out of touch with young black artists but the Grammy Awards broadcast’s producer Ken Ehrlich and writer David Wild have hit out at Frank and his 2013 performance at the ceremony.
Speaking on the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast, David said: “Frank had a very definite idea of exactly what he wanted to do and how he wanted to do it. Ken said, that’s not great TV, and what he’s taught all of us is, We’re not putting on a radio show … you have to make it a TV moment. And he knew from the start that that was not one of those moments.”
Ken added: “We executed his vision knowing that it was faulty. And we tried to tell him that, we tried to tell his management that, we tried to tell the record label that. So, his feelings about the Grammys right now, I would imagine, probably go back to that in one way. But honestly, it wasn’t us.”
The pair also admitted they are disappointed that Drake and Kanye West will not be performing at the ceremony but said they are still working on Justin Bieber.
Ken said: “If they’re concerned about the representation of hip-hop on the show, they need to respond and say ‘Yeah, of course I want to do it’. They’ve all done it in the past. Without overstating it, I think we were very instrumental in the growth of Kanye West’s career. He did epic performances on our show going back to ‘Jesus Walks.’ We know that he’s had his problems this past year, but we pursued him. We would love to have had him here. Same with Drake. But early on, before nominations came out or anything, Drake had already locked in his schedule to be in Europe. So, there’s nothing I can do about that. Justin Bieber, we’re still talking to him – he may or he may not be there.”

James Arthur won't face legal action from The Script

OHMYGOSSIP — James Arthur says he won’t face legal action from The Script.
Last year it was claimed the former ‘X Factor’ star’s song ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ had a number of similarities to the Script’s ‘Man Who Can’t Be Moved’ but James insists nothing ever came of the controversy.
He told The Sun: “Nothing ever came of it. There was no case. It’s 2017, there’s only seven notes in music.
“Every blues song sounds the f***ing same. People get a bit wound up about these things for no reason.”
In 2016, it was claimed that The Script had hired a music expert to prepare a report on the similarities between the two songs.
A source said at the time: “‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ is already one of the biggest singles of the year so this is a real hammer blow.
“There is no doubt the songs sound alike and have a similar chord progression.
“James has just got back on the straight and narrow after a difficult few years and a lawsuit is the last thing he needs.”
Meanwhile, James recently admitted he “hit the self-destruct button” when he first found fame.
The star – who had a successful comeback last year – feels he succumbed to the pressure of his rise to fame and coupled with not being “mentally in a good place”, he found himself spiralling out of control.
He shared: “I wasn’t really mentally in a good place before I did ‘The X Factor’. The pressure got to me – I was having these bad anxiety attacks all the time. The way that I would deal with that was by self-medicating; it spiralled out of control. I hit the self-destruct button.”

Jonas Blue recalls his BRIT Awards disaster

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonas Blue poured a full cup of hot chocolate over himself after last year’s BRIT Awards.
The 27-year-old singer has been nominated for the British Single and British Artist Video at this year’s forthcoming event, but he has admitted he won’t be hitting the booze this time around because last year ended up in disaster after he got drunk and tipped the sticky drink over his shoes.
He explained to OK! magazine: “I kind of got drunk last year and it ended really badly! I’ve learnt my lesson and I can’t deal with the handovers anymore, so I probably won’t get as drunk. I was so drunk that I decided to go to McDonald’s for a hot chocolate – as you do.
“I was wearing a pair of really expensive suede loafer slipper things and I fell asleep in the back of the car and ended up pouring the whole cup down me. It went all over the guy’s car too. I never told him but I’m sure it absolutely stank! I ruined my shoes. I won’t be going anywhere near McDonald’s again this year and I’ll be avoiding hot chocolate.”
Although his parents are so proud of him for carving out a career in the music industry, he has admitted his mother was really “p****d off” with him for not going to school.
He said: “I really p****d my mum off because I never went to school. I started as a musician at the age of seven or eight and then, when I was 13 or 14, I just stopped going t school because I was up late working on music of DJing and I couldn’t wake up for 7am. That was hard on my mum but I just said: ‘Look, trust me.'”

Katy Perry launches 'purposeful pop era' with new single

OHMYGOSSIP — Katy Perry has launched her “purposeful pop era” with the release of her new single ‘Chained to the Rhythm’.
The 32-year-old singer unveiled her track on Friday (10.02.17) – the first song from her upcoming new album coming on Capitol Records/Virgin EMI – which she recorded with Max Martin, Sia Furler, Ali Payami and Skip Marley.
Katy tackles society’s obsession with social media and the current political climate in America in the song.
In what seems to be a reference to social media, she can be heard singing: “Are we crazy / Living our lives through a lens
Trapped in our white picket fence / Like ornaments / So comfortable, we’re living in a bubble, bubble / So comfortable, we cannot see the trouble, trouble / Aren’t you lonely / Up there in utopia / Where nothing will ever be enough / Happily numb / So comfortable, we’re living in a bubble, bubble / So comfortable, we cannot see the trouble, trouble.”
Then seemingly airing her anger over the election of Donald Trump as President last year, Katy – who campaigned for Democrat candidate Hilary Clinton to get to the White House – later on sings: “It is my desire / Break down the walls to connect, inspire / Up in your high place, liars / Time is ticking for the empire / The truth they feed is feeble / As so many times before / They greed over the people / They stumbling and fumbling / And we about to riot / They woke up, they woke up the lions.”
Katy took to Twitter to her 95.7 million followers that the track is available now to stream and download and also reveal that her new LP is going to deal with more heavyweight subjects than love and partying.
She tweeted: “We gonna call this era Purposeful Pop … question everything … Evolution right on track (sic)”
Katy – who is in a relationship with Orlando Bloom – will perform ‘Chained to the Rhythm’ for the first time at the 59th Grammy Awards that take place on Sunday night (12.02.17).
