Lorde will release a new album this Spring

OHMYGOSSIP — Lorde is rumoured to release a new album this Spring.
The 20-year-old singer and songwriter – whose real name is Ella Yelich-O’Connor – released her debut album ‘Pure Heroine’ in 2013 and her record label Republic Records has teased the brunette beauty will be unveiling her upcoming track on July 3.
This news was publicised on the company’s website repuiblicrecords.com, and it read: “Lorde (Confidential Title) 3/7 (sic).”
The page also detailed other “Upcoming pop acts”, including Julia Michaels and Ariana Grande, are due to be launching their forthcoming LP’s this year as well.
The site read: “Julia Michaels ‘Issues’ 2/7
“Ariana Grande ‘Everyday’ 2/14 (sic).”
The ‘Royals’ hitmaker teased she was working on new material in November last year as she posted a photograph of Apple headphones on her Twitter account, in which she admitted to enjoying listening to music in the way her audience does.
Speaking previously she said: “[I] listen to the record on these every day. [I] wanna hear it exactly how you will”.
And the vocalist has revealed when she wrote the tracks on ‘Pure Heroine’ because she wanted to preserve “teenage glory” to ensure her youthful side “never dies”.
She said: “I’m not a kid any more, and more and more I’m realizing that the weirdness of those Mylar balloons is going to be okay. Writing ‘Pure Heroine’ was my way of enshrining our teenage glory, putting it up in lights forever so that part of me never dies, and this record – well, this one is about what comes next.”
Meanwhile, Lorde has credited fellow musician Phil Collins, 66, for making “magic” with his tracks in a “world of sin”.
Speaking previously about the ‘Against All Odds’ hitmaker, she said: “Phil Collins thanks for making your magic in this world of sin (sic).”

Rag'n' Bone Man doesn't have 'perfect voice'

OHMYGOSSIP — Rag’n’Bone Man doesn’t have the “perfect voice.”
The ‘Human’ hitmaker – real name is Rory Graham – may be this year’s recipient of the Brits Critics’ Choice Award, but he believes he still has a lot of work to do on his vocals because he was never trained by a coach and picked things up as he went along.
Speaking on Beats 1 radio station on Wednesday (15.02.17) night, he said: “I don’t have a perfect voice, it is rough around the edges, and I didn’t have training, so certain bits to other people might sound a bit here and there, a little bit because, I don’t know harmonies or stuff, I have to learn everything by ear, and I’m constantly learning when I’m doing stuff. So I will probably listen back to it in 10 years and go, well, I could have done better on that, but it’s a representation of me right now.”
However, the 32-year-old singer must be doing something right as Sir Elton John got hold of his number and rang him up recently to tell him how much he likes his music.
He explained: “He called me up on the phone, he’s Elton John, he can get anyone’s number. He wanted to call me to tell me how much he liked my music, which I thought was really nice coming from one of the best song writers of all time, he didn’t have to do that, it made my day. Yes Elton.”
Prior to his success, the ‘Skin’ hitmaker was making ends meet by working long hours as a carer in Brighton, East Sussex, when he got a phone call one day from Mark Crew – a longtime friend, who worked on Bastille’s debut LP ‘Bad Blood’ – who offered him the chance to make his own record at his London studios.
He said recently: “I’d started recording with a producer friend of mine called Mark Crew who believed in me so much that he paid my rent for three months.
“I was working as a care worker at the time and the people there were great but it was long hours and I couldn’t go to play a festival in Cornwall then get back in time.
“Something had to give and then I got a publishing deal, which helped me.”

Louis Tomlinson working with Matoma on EDM track

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Tomlinson is set to release another EDM track as his second single.
The 25-year-old 1D star released his debut solo song ‘Just Hold On’ with Steve Aoki in 2016 and he has now been in the studio with tropical house DJ/producer Matoma, who has previously collaborated with Sean Paul and Coldplay, to “connect” and “have some fun” while making a potential hit.
Matoma, real name Tom Stræte Lagergren, told the Daily Star newspaper: “I can’t really tell too much. I remixed ‘Perfect’ for One Direction and Louis wanted to something so we went to the studio to connect and had some fun. My impression is he’s a passionate, talented person and is a really nice guy. The big thing is that he is humble and down to earth so maybe something will come.”
Louis previously revealed his global hit ‘Just Hold On’ came about by chance after Steve replaced Calvin Harris at a show in Las Vegas which the One Direction heartthrob saw and he was so impressed he got in touch with the DJ for a collaboration.
Louis previously said: “I was on holiday with my friends in Vegas, and we were meant to see Calvin Harris’ show … [My friends and I] had an incredible night at [Steve’s show]. It was really, really fun. The show was amazing.”
Meanwhile, Louis recently teased that a reunion with bandmates Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Niall Horan is still on the cards, although they are all currently busy with their solo projects.
He said: “There’s time for that. Nobody knows when. I think we’re enjoying a bit of time to ourselves, exploring our own solo things.”

Speaking about the song, Frances – real name Sophie Frances Cooke – said: “It was amazing. We wrote a song a few weeks ago for his second album so it was really fun.”
But the ‘Stay With Me’ hitmaker is keeping his new material under wraps for now, as Frances revealed she is yet to hear any of his other new tracks.
She told The Sun newspaper: “He didn’t have any on his phone. I’m sure I’ll hear it at some point.”

He said: “I’m putting my heart even more out on the f***ing line. I’m going even deeper. I can’t believe I’m even doing it, but I’m going even deeper.”
Speaking of his first album, he previously said: “The core of the album, songs like ‘Stay With Me,’ ‘I’m Not the Only One’ – actually all the songs except ‘Money on My Mind’ – I really love and I’m really proud of the classic-ness of the way they sound, because I still listen to them now and I still love them.”

Pusha T disagreed with Kanye West meeting Donald Trump

OHMYGOSSIP — Pusha T tried to stop Kanye West from meeting US President Donald Trump.
The 39-year-old rap star, who serves as the President at Kanye’s GOOD Music record label, has revealed he objected to the ‘Famous’ hitmaker’s decision to meet with the outspoken billionaire at Trump Tower in New York City in December.
He said: “This is not the first thing that me and Kanye disagree on. We disagree on a lot.
“I was like, ‘Man, there ain’t nothing to go talk about.’ But he has a perspective – and we were definitely polar opposites – but he was like, ‘Man, you gotta talk. We gotta talk. And there’s some things that I want to get across in regards to education’ and so on and so forth.”
Despite Kanye’s reasoning, Pusha admitted he still disagreed with his decision to meet with the President.
He told 93.9 WKYS: “He’s like ‘Bro, he’s in there. We either gotta communicate or we ain’t gonna be heard.’ So that was his stance on it. My stance on it was, ‘Listen, I can’t do it.'”
Shortly after his meeting with the US President, Kanye took to Twitter to reveal what they discussed.
He wrote: “I wanted to meet with Trump today to discuss multicultural issues.
“These issues included bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago. I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future President if we truly want change. (sic)”
Meanwhile, President Trump also praised the rap star following their meeting in New York.
He said: “He’s a good man. We’ve been friends for a long time.”
And when he was asked about what they’d discussed, President Trump simply said: “Life.”

Ed Sheeran to release new track

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran will release a new track from ‘÷’ on Friday (17.02.17).
The 25-year-old singer took to Instagram on Wednesday night (15.02.17) to share the news that a new song entitled ‘How Would You Feel (Paean)’ – which he stressed was “not the next single” – would be released from his upcoming album, which is due on March 3.
Posting a picture of piano keys on a blue background, Ed wrote: “How Would You Feel (Paean) comes out at midnight on Friday wherever you are in the world, it’s not the next single, but is one of my favzzzzz (sic)”
The new track will be the third released from ‘÷’ so far, and follows singles ‘Shape of You’ and ‘Castle on the Hill’ which debuted number one and two respectively on the Official UK Chart after their release last month.
Meanwhile, Ed – who is in a relationship with his former school friend Cherry Seaborn – previously admitted to having “scrapped six songs” from the record at the request of frequent collaborator Rick Rubin.
He recalled: “[Rick Rubin] walked out of the house and said, ‘Write more songs.’
“I was like, ‘Oh, ow.’ No one was jumping for joy at the label and I thought there must be a reason. So I looked at it again and scrapped six songs.”
And the ‘Thinking Out Loud’ singer wasn’t upset by the criticism as he knows the key to longevity is to be willing to take advice.
He said: “It is my vision – but the reason those artists who have a light that shines for five years then disappear is they don’t listen to other people.
“I can’t think I know everything. I know how to write a song and put together an album of good songs, but sometimes it’s difficult to tell which songs should or shouldn’t be on an album.
“But ultimately the album has improved because of it.”

Guy Garvey's suicidal lows

OHMYGOSSIP — Guy Garvey’s lack of success with Elbow made him suicidal.
The 42-year-old singer formed the group in 1990 while at sixth form college and shunned university to focus on his musical ambitions, but the band didn’t achieve mainstream success until much later and he admitted at his lowest points the idea of becoming a “posthumous hero” appealed to him.
He said of his feelings: “It’s so common. I do have a natural penchant for the dramatic.
“But there were genuine feelings of loss there and futility.
“At that age you hero-worship musicians and quite often they’re dead. And that becomes an avenue of potential, y’know. Thinking, ‘Maybe if I pop my clogs I’ll become one of these posthumous heroes. Ridiculously selfish. Terrifying.
“And it wouldn’t have f***ing mattered if i’d gone ahead with it, y;know?”
Guy – whose wife Rachael Stirling is pregnant with their first child – saw his fortunes change with 2008 album ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’ and though he and his bandmates turned down “millions” from advertisers wanting to use anthemic track ‘One Day Like This’, he admitted he won’t rule out licensing the song in future.
He laughed to Q magazine: “Never say never. Somebody swings in and says, ‘Your kids will never have to worry again.’? No one buys records any more, y’know?”
Guy admits he has a “strange” sensitive relationship with his bandmates, Craig and Mark Potter and Pete Turner.
He said: “The root of it is, we’re pretty sensitive blokes.
“We float ideas and melodically, lyrically, where we meet is at the sensitive stuff.
“We’re blokes who talk to each other, tell each other we love each other and hug each other. I do love a hug.
“I suppose it’s strange, we’re from a post-industrial town which is pretty hard really.”

Niall Horan plans tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Niall Horan is going on tour.
The ‘This Town’ hitmaker has confirmed he and his One Direction bandmates Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson will be getting back together at some point, but for the time being, they are busy with their own ventures, which for him will include a stint out on the road in support of his solo material.
He said: “It will definitely happen, of course. As I’ve said many times, we’d be stupid not to.
“It’s going to be good when it happens… when it happens I don’t know.
“I’m doing this, going to go do a bit of a tour, Harry’s got his movie coming out, Louis is doing his thing and Liam’s doing his thing.”
While fans will be excited at the thought of seeing the 23-year-old pop star on tour, they’ll have to wait a little bit longer to hear his new music as he has pushed back the release of his album in order to work on perfecting the record.
He told Kent ‘Smallzy’ Small on Nova’s Smallzy Surgery: “I’m looking forward to bringing it out, but again I want to get it right and I don’t want to just half a*s it, you know?”
Niall released his debut solo single ‘This Town’ in September to reassure his fans he had been working hard since his group went on hiatus in 2015, but admitted he wasn’t expecting the reaction the record received.
He said: “We just put it out to kind of let people know that I was actually doing something… I knew the song was good when I wrote it… but the reaction to it has been insane.”

Grammy boss denies 'race problem' amid Beyonce row

OHMYGOSSIP — The Grammy Awards does not have a “race problem”, according to President of the Recording Academy Neil Portnow.
The annual ceremony has recently been criticised by a number of artists, including Frank Ocean and Solange Knowles, for a perceived lack of diversity – but Neil has rubbished their suggestions, insisting the Academy is blindfolded to the issue of race.
Responding to accusations of racial bias, he said: “I don’t think there’s a race problem at all … It’s always hard to create objectivity out of something that’s inherently subjective, which is what art and music is about. We do the best we can.”
The discussion was brought into sharp focus after Adele’s ’25’ beat Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’ to the Album of the Year crown, only for the London-born singer to subsequently admit that the 35-year-old beauty was more deserving of the accolade.
However, Neil has claimed that factors like race are never considered when it comes to handing out the awards.
He told Pitchfork: “We don’t, as musicians, in my humble opinion, listen to music based on gender or race or ethnicity. When you go to vote on a piece of music – at least the way that I approach is – is you almost put a blindfold on and you listen.”
Neil also said he retained confidence in the voting process, despite criticism from a number of high-profile artists.
He said: “We stand 100 percent behind the process: It’s a democratic vote by majority. So somebody could either receive or not receive a Grammy based on one vote. It could be that tight.”
Despite this, Neil admitted efforts are being made to ensure there is greater diversity among the Academy.
He shared: “We are always working on increase diversity in membership, whether it’s ethnicity, gender, genre, or age. In order to maintain our relevance, we have to be refreshing all the time and we have to be doing that across the board.”

MTV EMAs 2017 to be held in London

OHMYGOSSIP — The 2017 MTV European Music Awards (EMAs) will be held in London.
The annual glitzy award show – which was last held in London 21 years ago in 1996 – will return to the English capital in November at The SSE Arena, Wembley, to celebrate the year’s musical highlights with some of the world’s biggest artists.
David Lynn, CEO of Viacom International Media Networks, said in a statement: “London is arguably the world’s musical epicentre and it’s both a huge privilege and opportunity to bring the MTV EMAS 2017 to the UK’s capital city.
“The EMA creates an incredible buzz wherever it lands it; that will be amplified tenfold in London.”
The event – which was held in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, last year – hopes to be “bigger and louder” than in years past, with show bosses hoping to put on a “killer” show.
EMAs executive producer Bruce Gillmer added: “The MTV EMAs are one of the biggest and most unforgettable nights in music globally. We anticipate this year’s event in London will be even bigger and louder than ever before.
“The city’s incredible musical heritage along with the local fan’s robust energy will undoubtedly make this one killer show.”
This year will mark the sixth time the awards have been held in a British city, with Edinburgh, Liverpool, Belfast, and Glasgow having previously hosted the ceremony.
Last year, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Twenty One Pilots came away from the awards as the biggest winners, having secured two gongs each.
The 22-year-old singer – who racked up five nominations – walked away with the trophy for Best Song for his hit ‘Sorry’ and the Biggest Fans category for his loyal supporters, Beliebers.
Gaga – who’s known for her eccentric style – was equally successful with the award for Best Look and Best Female, while the ‘Heathens’ hitmakers, comprised of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, swiped Best Alternative Act and Best Live Artist.
The MTV EMAs will take place on November 12, 2017.

Vanessa White unveils new 'sexual' song Good Good

OHMYGOSSIP — Vanessa White says her new song ‘Good Good’ is about “being honest with your sexuality”.
The Saturdays star has unveiled her latest solo track on website The FADER which will be part of her hotly anticipated second solo EP ‘Chapter Two’ which will drop this spring.
Vanessa – who last year released her debut EP ‘Chapter One’ which she followed up with the single ‘Low Key’ featuring hip hop artist Illa J – worked with rising London producer Mkulu on the tune and penned all the lyrics which she happily admits talk about her own sexuality.
She told The FADER: “It’s a song about being honest with your sexuality and going for what you want without holding back and not having to listen to other people’s opinions. I’ve always been that way and most probably always will be. I’m not afraid to be sexual. I think that’s the Scorpio in me. With relationships, people always have something to say but I always prefer to find out for myself rather than listening to others, and the song touches on that.”
Vanessa – who is joined in The Saturdays by Frankie Bridge, Una Healy, Rochelle Humes and Mollie King – hopes her fans will hear the growth in her as a songwriter on ‘Good Good’ and she insists there is “no more sugar coating” on her new music.
She added: “I’ve grown so much as a writer over the last year and I think you can really feel that in ‘Good Good’. In the past I’ve been worried about showing this side of me in my music and have even been scared to be this free in the studio but I’ve learnt the less you care and the more open you are, the more real and relatable the end product is. So no more sugar coating! The ‘Chapter Two’ EP is my most honest music ever. It’s so personal and draws from my own experiences so I can’t wait for everyone to hear this new phase.”
Vanessa has been busy working in the studio with a host of in-demand producers and musicians including the likes of PRGRSN, Wizzy Wow, Shakka, Musicman Ty and Snakehips and has also been collaborating with Rob Heppell, Charlotte Rutherford and Stephanie Sian Smith.
