Robbie Williams: My Brits win is 'odd'

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams thinks it’s “f*****g odd” that he’s won 18 Brit awards.
The ‘Candy’ hitmaker will pick up the Icon lifetime achievement trophy at the star-studded music ceremony on Wednesday (22.02.17) and, although he’s thrilled by the gong, he can’t understand why other artists like Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Elton John haven’t had the same success at the event.
Speaking to Digital Spy, he said: “It’s kind of that big an achievement that it’s hard to work out why I’ve got 18 Brits and no-one else has. It’s f**king odd.
“Why hasn’t Paul McCartney got 18? Why hasn’t Elton John? Why has a half decent singer who can’t dance from Stoke got 18? It like a glitch in the Matrix.”
And the 43-year-old hunk is so chilled out about his success that he usually gives away his accolades to his close friends and family but he wants more.
He explained: “Why do you give the Brit Awards away? It’s because it’s a monument to something that’s already happened and finished, and I want more.
“So I gave one to Wayne Rooney, Paddy McGuinness, some to my dad and my mum. That’s how I see any award really, it’s a monument to something that’s dead. That may be a weird way to look at it, but I want more!”
Robbie was planning to take a break at the end of last year following months of travelling in a bid to promote his latest album ‘The Heavy Entertainment Show’.
But his well-deserved rest is yet to happen and it doesn’t look like it’ll take place any time soon as he goes on tour in a few months’ time.
He said: “In classic fashion, I’ve got a tour to do in June, so I’ve decided to f**king go for it. I’ve stopped eating meat, I’ve stopped smoking. But now I’ve f***ed everything up, my back’s out, I’ve had the man flu. I should take it slowly sometimes, I’m not a teenager any more. And I try to do everything all at once.”

Drake feels 'alienated' from Grammys

OHMYGOSSIP — Drake feels “alienated” from the Grammy awards, despite having picked up two gongs this year.
The 30-year-old musician took home the awards for Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Performance both for his hit single ‘Hotline Bling’ at the glitzy ceremony earlier this month, but has now said he “doesn’t even want them” because he says the track “is not a rap song” and believes he was only put into the rap category because of the colour of his skin.
He said: “I am referred to as a black artist. I’m a black artist… I’m apparently a rapper, even though ‘Hotline Bling’ is not a rap song. The only category they can manage to fit me in is in a rap category, maybe because I’ve rapped in the past or because I’m black. I can’t figure out why.”
And the ‘One Dance’ hitmaker says his wins feel “weird”, as he believes he should have been placed in the pop category instead, and says he “never gets any credit” for writing pop songs.
Speaking on his OVO Sound radio show on Apple Music, Drake said: “There’s pop obligations they have, and I flunked out. I flunked out and got one of the biggest songs of the year that is a pop song and I’m proud of that. I love the rap world and I love the rap community.
“I write pop songs for a reason. I want to be like Michael Jackson. I want to be like artists that I looked up to. Those are pop songs, but I never get any credit for that.
“By the way, I’m speaking to you as a winner. I won two awards, but I don’t even want them because it just feels weird for some reason. It just doesn’t feel right to me. I feel almost alienated, or like they’re trying to purposely alienate me by making me win rap awards or pacify me by handing me something and putting me in that category because it’s the only place where you can figure out where to put me.”

Drake blasts Kanye West, Meek Mill and Grammy Awards

OHMYGOSSIP — Drake has hit out at Kanye West.
Last year, during a concert on his ‘Saint Pablo’ tour, Kanye slammed Drake and DJ Khaled, claiming their music was overplayed on radio stations, and Drake admitted he was puzzled by the comments.
During an interview on OVO Radio with DJ Semtex, Drake said: “I think everybody has their own little things going on, I’m not really sure what he’s referring to half the time, cos in the same breath, I went from being… like working on a project with him, to him sorta publicly s****ing on me and DJ Khaled for being on the radio too much. But yeah I’m not really sure, everybody’s got their own thing going on. Again me when I hear that, I just distance myself from it you know, alright if that’s what it is I don’t really even understand the point you’re trying to make but whatever it is that you’re going through, I accept it, I don’t respect it at all. You know cos I feel like me and Khaled are just good people, I’m not sure why we’re the target of your choice that you made that night.”
Drake also opened up about Meek Mill’s “terrible and impulsive” decision to start a feud with him by claiming Drake used a ghostwriter.
He said: “My mind was going a thousand miles a minute, I didn’t know who was going to be on a diss track or what he had ready. I thought this was three months in the making. When I dropped ‘Charged Up,’ just to kinda see what the preparation level was, I saw–‘oh wow you’re not ready.'”
Explaining his own subsequent diss track, he added: “I respect revenge when it’s warranted. It’s not something that I’m proud of because it took just as much of an emotional toll on me–maybe not as much as it did on him–but you always gotta hear about it… and just seeing people get so riled up on negativity, it doesn’t feel great… It was just embarrassing to witness, you know? If he had revealed some huge thing, you know, you would have heard a lot more people, peers of mine chime in.
“You can ask Meek if he thinks it was worth it and I’ll bet he tells you no.”
During the interview, Drake also hit out at the Grammy Awards.
He said: “Even though ‘Hotline Bling’ is not a rap song… the only category they can manage to fit me in is a rap category. Maybe because I’ve rapped in the past or because I’m black, I can’t figure out why… I won two awards –but I don’t even want them, because it just feels weird for some reason.”

Bastille want to rock the moon

OHMYGOSSIP — Bastille want to perform on the moon.
The ‘Pompeii’ hitmakers – comprised of Dan Smith, Chris ‘Woody’ Wood, Kyle Simmons and Will Farquarson – are interesting in being a part of tycoon Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic commercial space travel scheme in order to achieve their ambition.
Asked what world record they would like to break, frontman Dan told Q magazine: “It would be fun to be the first band to play on the moon. We’d sign up for Richard Branson’s space flights and play.”
And there could be space for Bastille on the first flight as The Killers recently revealed they had cancelled their seats on the voyage because they felt “nervous” about it.
Guitarist Dave Keuning previously said: “It’s something I’m still interested in, but Virgin has kept pushing that date back. They said it was going to be 2010, and then ’11, and then ’12, and they still haven’t done it.
“It’s actually made me a bit nervous about being on the first one. Whenever it happens, I’ll probably let other people do it first for a few years because I don’t want to be the one who blows up.”
The 40-year-old musician admits it is still his dream to travel into space and he hopes that one day there will be a hotel on Mars which he can stay at.
However, the ‘Mr. Brightside’ hitmaker doesn’t think he will live to see the day it happens.
Keuning – who is joined in The Killers by Brandon Flowers, Mark Stoermer and Ronnie Vannucci, Jr. – said: “It’s definitely a dream of mine to go to space. It’s unfortunate how slow the space program is moving. That’s my biggest reason for wanting to live a long life, to see what happens. Will we get to Mars? Will there be a hotel on the moon someday? I don’t know. Stuff like this fascinates me.
“It’s moving really slow when you think about how long ago we were on the moon landing and what we’ve done since. I don’t know if we’ll ever come close to what you see in movies.”

Lana Del Rey drops new track Love

OHMYGOSSIP — Lana Del Rey has released a new song.
The 31-year-old singer has been working on a follow-up to her 2015 album ‘Honeymoon’ and has just dropped the track ‘Love’, which was produced by her longtime collaborator Rick Nowels, alongside contributing producers Benny Blanco and Emile Haynie.
Lana said: “I made my first four albums for me, but this one is for my fans and about where I hope we are all headed.”
The singer first teased fans that she was working on a new album in March 2015, when she posted a photo of herself working in a studio on social media.
Lana also revealed she has gradually been putting ideas together for her fifth album for some time and she gave an update in December 2015.
At the time, she said: “I do have early thoughts about what I’d like to do with [the album].
“My label, Interscope, is pretty flexible and open to my records coming out at any time, so I don’t have that pressure. I’m just happy to be able to keep on making music I can stand behind. That’s enough for me.”
Meanwhile, in 2015, Lana toured with Grunge rocker Courtney Love for her concert series, ‘The Endless Summer Tour’, and she was inspired by her “entrancing” performance.
She said: “Touring with Courtney was great, we have some things in common that might not be visible from the outside.
“I think the most important thing I learned was that some people just have it when it comes to performing. She’s totally entrancing, a born performer.”

Debbie Harry: I'm no pop icon

OHMYGOSSIP — Debbie Harry hates being described as a pop icon.
The 71-year-old Blondie frontwoman was “horrified” when she first had the accolade bestowed on her and even now would rather be known as a “star”.
She said: “The first time I heard that phrase was in the nineties, and I was sort of horrified. All I could think of was, you know, a religious figure or something. And, oh God, I can’t bear that. I don’t know if I believe that’s a good word for it.
“I think I like the idea of being a star, a superstar or a pop star. It seems more in keeping with your real, relative value. Icon is like, you need to die first, right? You should be dead and then you can become an icon. And I’m not dead yet.”
On Blondie’s new album, ‘Pollinator’, the group have teamed up with the like of Sia, Charli XCX and Johnny Marr, and Debbie thinks it was the “perfect” move for them to collaborate with other artists for the first time.
She told ELLE magazine: “It was a fresh approach for us to bring in so many outsiders. And it’s kind of perfect for the stage in our career to do that.
“One of the comments I hear a lot from people my age is, ‘Oh, there’s no good music these days.’ It’s unfathomable to me how anybody could say that. There’s so much great music.
“People’s lives change when they start having families I guess. They’re not going to experiment so much. [As for Blondie], maybe we just have delayed adolescence or something.”

Mariah felt 'vilified' after NYE disaster

OHMYGOSSIP — Mariah Carey felt “vilified” after her disastrous New Year’s Eve (31.12.16) performance.
The ‘Hero’ hitmaker was left embarrassed during the Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest telecast after her performance was plagued by technical difficulties and she admitted that the criticism was tough to deal with.
She said: “I didn’t obsess over the New Year’s Eve thing. I mean, I was upset about the fact that people didn’t understand, but it’s like, I can only explain it like this to you.
“It’s like I’m the only one that has to make five million comebacks… For me there are different rules, I don’t know why. I don’t know why it’s not OK that I was just victimised and vilified by the situation.”
Mariah, 46, also admitted that staying relevant in the music industry for over 20 years has not always been easy.
She said: “It’s very difficult, especially the way the business is now. I truly love music and always have. It’s not like … “Oh, here’s a way to get famous.” It wasn’t any of those things. It was my release, it was my everything and it still is. So I think that I’m just grateful that people still tune in.”
Meanwhile, Mariah is currently preparing to hit the road with Lionel Richie for the ‘All the Hits’ tour which runs from March 15 to May 27 and her children, five-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe, will join her.
She said: “Roc and Roe do get to come. They love to go onstage and actually they are very musical already.
“They have their school, and they have their teacher. They are doing really well but they don’t love the school, let’s just put it that way. But they are happy when they get to go with me on tour and there’s other kids there, too, so it’s good.”

Shawn Mendes: 'Camila Cabello will take over the world'

OHMYGOSSIP — Shawn Mendes says Camila Cabello will “take over the world”.
The pair collaborated on the 2015 single ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ and now that Camila has left Fifth Harmony to launch her own solo career, Shawn is tipping her for huge success.
He told Billboard: “It would take a big force to stop her from taking over the world. She was such a great writing partner. I barely had to speak and she knew exactly what I meant.”
Camila’s manager Roger Gold is also excited for what the future will bring for his client and he called Fifth Harmony an “incredible school”.
He explained: “She has done her 10,000 hours. Fifth Harmony worked incredibly hard 11-and-a-half months of the year. It was an incredible school.”
Producers Andrew “Pop” Wansel and Frank Dukes admitted they were surprised by her “vision” for her solo career.
Andrew said: “I never underestimated her talent, but I was not expecting her to have such a powerful vision,” and Frank added: “It’s a real collaboration. Sometimes it’s like a band just jamming.”
Meanwhile, Camila insisted she’s “only got love” for her former Fifth Harmony bandmates.
The 19-year-old singer hasn’t spoken to Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane Hansen and Normani Hamilton since she dramatically quit the group two months ago to launch her solo career, and wishes they were on better terms.
Asked if she is still in touch with the other girls, she said: “No. I don’t want to get into the details of that, because it was really intense and it’s hard for me to talk about. It makes me sad.
“I hoped that it would be a peaceful turning of the page and we would root for each other. But I only got love for them.”

Lady Gaga had a 'cuddle buddy' for Super Bowl

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga had four masseuses, an eyelash monitor and a “cuddle buddy” for her dog on hand at the Super Bowl.
The ‘Million Reasons’ singer put on a spectacular show at the NFL showpiece game earlier this month, and her stress levels were kept low ahead of the performance by having a team of experts on hand to attend to her every need.
A source said: “It takes a village to keep Gaga looking and feeling her best especially during a high pressure performance like the Super Bowl.
“She had her usual entourage of 25 people with her, but most of them were there just to pamper her.
“At least 10 of them were her glam squad, including a false eyelash specialist, who was simply there to monitor her lashes.
“On top of that, she had four masseuses following her around. Any time she sat down they began dutifully rubbing her.
“Another person was there to de-shine Gaga’s brow – mopping her face during the quick wardrobe changes – while someone else reapplied that glittery foundation with a sponge.
“Even her bulldog Koji had a specially assigned cuddle buddy. She didn’t want her baby feeling neglected, so someone was there to pet, feed, and talk soothingly to the dog.”
And the 30-year-old singer had an “army” of assistants on hand from the minute she woke up in order to help her up and around.
The source added to heat magazine “Even before she got out of bed on the day of the show, she had an army of assistanta preparing things.
“They propped her up among the pillows and sheets with her sleeping dog at her feet for promo photos.
“At the venue, she needed someone nearby at all times to pull her up off the turf during another photo shoot.
“She was wearing a high-split skirt with a very unruly train before the show, and one assistant’s role was to unravel the material whenever it was needed.”

Robbie Williams surprises fan by dueting with her daughter

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams surprised a fan by duetting with their daughter in a secret gig.
The 43-year-old musician and BRITs Icon winner took part in Mastercard’s Priceless Surprises campaign prior to his appearance at The Brit Awards on Wednesday (22.02.17), which saw him join forces with supporter Danielle’s nine-year-old child, Grace, to put on an unexpected performance for her at their local cinema.
The pair took to the fore to belt out the dark-haired hunk’s recent release ‘Love My Life’, which is one of the tracks from his new album ‘The Heavy Entertainment Show’.
And Robbie has admitted he loved seeing the reaction on Danielle’s face when he appeared behind the theatre curtain.
Robbie – who has four-year-old daughter Theodora and two-year-old son Charlton with his wife Ayda Field – said: “It was brilliant to surprise Danielle and spend time with her friends and family. Singing with Grace and seeing Danielle’s reaction was priceless.”
And Danielle – who met her long-term partner, Mike, at one of the musician’s concerts – has blown away with the shock appearance but had described the moment as one of “the craziest but most amazing days” of her entire life.
She explained: “This has been one of the craziest but most amazing days of my life! I have been a fan of Robbie for years and met my long-term partner, Mike, at one of his concerts. You could say that without Robbie, I wouldn’t have met my soul-mate and had our lovely daughter. Then to see her sing on stage with Robbie Williams is just out of this world and brought a tear to my eye! It was a beautiful moment and I’ll never forget it.”
Meanwhile, former Take That member Robbie – who has received 18 BRIT awards during his three-decade spanning career – will be performing at the music extravaganza, which will take place at The O2 arena in London on Wednesday (22.02.17) and will be broadcast on ITV at 7.30pm.

Roger Waters tackles modern politics on new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Roger Waters says his new album is a commentary on the current political climate in the world.
The former Pink Floyd musician took the opportunity at the launch of the upcoming ‘Pink Floyd Exhibition: Their Mortal Remains’ in London to announce his first studio album of totally new material for 25 years will be called ‘Is This The Life You Really Want?’ and will tackle the rise of right wing politics in the US and the UK and the division of people that is occurring across the world.
Waters – who has been an outspoken of critic of Donald Trump both before and after he became America’s 45th President – hopes people will listen to what he has to say on the record because he insists rock music should be an avenue for political protest.
The 73-year-old bassist-and-vocalist said: “I’m just in the process of finishing my new album. It’s called ‘Is This The Life You Really Want?’ and whether it will have an impact and whether anyone will listen to it I have no idea, I hope so … It is about the things that I’ve been spouting on about. Is there is a place anymore in rock ‘n’ roll for protest, or comment, or politics? Yeah, I think there is, I know there is and there always has been.”
When in Pink Floyd, Waters was responsible for tackling politics and subjects such as mental health and isolation on the band’s acclaimed albums ‘Dark Side of the Moon’, ‘The Wall’ and ‘The Final Cut’.
However, he believes that many listeners missed his lyrical messages and believed the psychedelic rockers – also comprised of drummer Nick Mason, guitarist-and-singer David Gilmour and late keyboard player Rick Wright – were just singing about “drugs and space”.
Waters said: “Most of the work we did in Pink Floyd was very political. A lot of people didn’t notice it; they thought it was out of space and drugs, but it wasn’t! It was about the problems that human beings have relating to one another and developing our potential to empathise with one another and to realise that we’re all brothers and sisters and that we need to help one another and co-operate with one another because it’s only by doing that that we are able to provide a future for our children and our grandchildren.”
After announcing his new album, Waters’ official Facebook page was updated to reveal the LP is “coming soon” with a 40-second tease of music.
Waters’ other three solo records – 1984’s ‘The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking’, 1987’s ‘Radio K.A.O.S.’ and 1992’s ‘Amused to Death’ – were all concept albums.
Waters is heading out on his ‘Us and Them Tour’ across North America in 2017 and kicks off his run of shows on May 26 at the Sprint Center in Kansas City.
He will be touring the rest of the world in 2018.
‘The Pink Floyd Exhibition: Their Mortal Remains’ runs at the V&A Museum in London from May 13 to October 1.

In a series of posts, he spilled: “In 2017 I’m making music to make your soul happy !!!! Not feel good music. Feel INCREDIBLE music More joyful music in 2017. I feel like it’s missing from the world. And it was missing from my life. So I created it !!!!”

Mick Jagger refuses to have his memoir published

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Mick Jagger has written a 75,000-word memoir – but he refuses to publish it.
The 73-year-old icon penned the memoir in the late 70s, when the Rolling Stones co-founder was handed as much as £1 million for the project before he decided against publishing it and handed the money back.
The memoir is currently in the hands of writer and publisher John Blake, who revealed in an article for The Spectator magazine he has it stored in a “secret hiding place”.
Of the memoir, John explained: “So far as I have been able to ascertain, a publisher rejected the manuscript because it was light on sex and drugs. In the early 1980s, when it was written, shock and awe was a vital part of any successful autobiography.
“Read now, however, it is a little masterpiece. A perfectly preserved time capsule written when the Stones had produced all their greatest music but still burned with the passion and fire of youth and idealism.”
John also claimed the book showed a more considered version of the rock legend.
He shared: “The book shows a quieter, more watchful Mick than the fast-living caricature. He describes the little room he’d retreat to backstage before a performance, where he’d hide away, sizing up the audience.
“All that famous partying had to wait till afterwards. Those extravagant feasts that rumour had it the Stones demanded backstage: caviar, vintage champagne, stuffed quails … they never ate any of it. They took their shows far too seriously for that.
“He had carbs for an early lunch. Then water, ‘maybe eight pints’, because he’d lose ten pints on stage.”
Meanwhile, Joyce Smyth, The Rolling Stones’ manager, has confirmed the existence of the book, but insisted John would not be allowed to publish it.
A statement read: “John Blake writes to me from time to time seeking permission to publish this manuscript. The answer is always the same: He cannot, because it isn’t his and he accepts this.
“Readers will be able to form a view as regards the matters to which John Blake refers when Sir Mick’s autobiography appears, should he choose to write it.”

Roger Waters wants to headline Glastonbury without Pink Floyd

OHMYGOSSIP — Pink Floyd legends Roger Waters and Nick Mason are both up for headlining Glastonbury – but not together.
The two musicians reunited on Thursday (16.02.17) in London to launch the upcoming ‘Pink Floyd Exhibition: Their Mortal Remains’ and were quizzed on whether or not one more great gig beckoned for the psychedelic legends at Michael Eavis’ world famous festival, which they never played at as a band.
Roger quit the group back in 1985 citing Pink Floyd as a “spent force creatively” and since has only performed with Nick and the other surviving member David Gilmour back in 2005 at the Live 8 charity concert in London, and during Waters’ performance of ‘The Wall’ at The O2 arena in 2011 on a rendition of ‘Comfortably Numb’.
Despite the clamour from fans, he he has no interest in playing at Pilton Farm in Somerset, South West England, under the Pink Floyd banner but is keen to do so as a solo artist.
Speaking during a Q&A session, Roger said: “I did Glastonbury once, I think. It was really cold. But there were a lot of people and it seemed very jolly and I liked it. Yeah, I would do it again.”
Speaking about his unfulfilled ambition to top the bill on the Pyramid Stage, Nick, 73, said: “It would be nice to add it to the list of things. I’ve never played Glastonbury. It would be fun to do it. I don’t think it would be very likely.”
The pair also seemed to think that 70-year-old David’s semi-retirement status would be a stumbling block to any Glastonbury performance for Pink Floyd.
Roger said: “The last I heard, David had retired.”
Nick then quipped back: “I heard he retired, then he seemed to un-retire.”
Roger, 73, admits he is tired of people asking him if Pink Floyd – whose keyboard player Rick Wright passed away in 2008 at the age of 65 – will ever get back together as he’s as focused as ever on his solo career, with a new album coming this year.
The LP is called ‘Is This The Life We Really Want?’ and it’s getting close to completion.
Referring to the chances of a full reunion, the ‘Another Brick In The Wall’ singer said: “People ask all the time. It’s boring isn’t it?”
Then discussing his next record, he added: “I’m just in the process of finishing my new album. I finished the vocals yesterday and Nigel Godrich who is producing it has begun mixing it. It’s called ‘Is This The Life You Really Want?’ and I’m going on the road this summer, taking a tour called ‘Us And Them’, around America and then around the world throughout 2018.”
‘The Pink Floyd Exhibition: Their Mortal Remains’ runs at the V&A Museum in London from May 13 to October 1.
