Lorde's Green Light is about her first 'major heartbreak'

OHMYGOSSIP — Lorde’s new single ‘Green Light’ is about her first “major heartbreak”.
The 20-year-old singer dropped her eagerly-anticipated first song since 2014’s ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’ on Thursday (02.03.17), and has now revealed the lyrics were her way of processing her feelings towards an ex-boyfriend.
The ‘Royals’ hitmaker says the contrast between the “intense” words and the “happy” dance sound is because she imagined herself being the “drunk” girl at a party drowning her sorrows.
Speaking about meaning behind the track, which will feature on her second studio LP, “Melodrama’, she told Zane Lowe on his Apple Beats 1 Radio show: “The song is actually about a heartbreak. And it’s not something that I really am used to writing about. It took me a while to be able to figure out how to write about that. It was my first major heartbreak. And the song is really about those moments kind of immediately after your life changes and about all the silly little things that you gravitate towards. I say, ‘She thinks you love the beach, you’re such a liar’. What the f**k, she thinks you like the beach?! You don’t like the beach! It’s those little stupid things. It sounds so happy and then the lyrics are so intense obviously. And I realised I was like, ‘how come this thing is coming out so joyous sounding?’ And I realised this is that drunk girl at the party dancing around crying about her ex-boyfriend who everyone thinks is a mess. That’s her tonight and tomorrow she starts to rebuild. And that’s the song for me.”
Lorde – whose real name is Ella Yelich-O’Connor – says it’s a really “special” record for her to listen to as it reflects her transition from a teenage to an adult.
She explained: “I think I had that year. Everyone has that first year that feels like the first proper year of adulthood. I moved out of home and all of a sudden I was kind of figuring out who am I when I’m alone? Who am I when I’m doing things just for myself? And I feel like you can really hear that on this record. There’s definitely moments where it’s like ‘oh, she really went there.’ That’s what that is. I had to tell the truth so starkly to myself and to my friends and people around me. It’s an amazing feeling. It’s amazing actually listening to this body of work and being like, ‘wow, that is that year of my life in all of its kind of glory and disgusting …’ All the gross moments, all great moments. It’s really special for me to listen to.”
‘Green Light’ is the lead track from her follow-up to 2013’s ‘Pure Heroine’ and is slated for release this summer.

Harry Styles won't record Ed Sheeran track

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Styles won’t be recording a song he wrote with Ed Sheeran.
The One Direction hunk previously “jammed out” a track with his close friend, but the ‘Shape of You’ singer says his pal has now “gone in a totally different direction” but when he does release his long-awaited solo material, Ed thinks it will be “massive”.
He said: “He came round like two years ago and we jammed out a song. I think he’s gone in a totally different direction now.
“It’s really good. Anything he puts out is going to be massive, let’s be honest. But I think it’s very good musically as well.”
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old star gave another song he’d written, ‘Love Yourself’, to Justin Bieber, and though the track was a huge hit for the Canadian pop star, Ed has no regrets about not keeping it for himself and is just thankful that and ‘Cold Water’ – the Major Lazer track he co-wrote which also featured the ‘Believe’ hitmaker – kept him in the public consciousness during his hiatus last year.
He told The Sun newspaper: “A lot of people say, ‘Do you wish you finished that and kept it for yourself’. But in my year off I had that song and ‘Cold Water’, and both kept me in the public eye without me being in the public eye.
“So it came as a blessing. I don’t think Justin owes me. I think that song did quite well. I think I’m alright.”
Ed is expecting his close friend Taylor Swift to release a new album this year – her first since 2014’s ‘1989’ – though doesn’t think she’s in a rush to get new material out because she’s enjoying her own career break.
He said: “I don’t know the ins and outs of it but if you look at the trend of how many years are between each album then it does seem likely. But I think she is enjoying her time off – I don’t think there’s any rush. She has kept a very low profile and the music will speak for itself.”

Nine Inch Nails gift fans with envelopes of black powder

OHMYGOSSIP — Nine Inch Nails have sent fans envelopes filled with black powder.
The electronic metal group – Trent Reznor, Robin Finck, Alessandro Cortini, Ilan Rubin and Atticus Ross – caused a stir among their devoted following by having the wrapped substance posted out with direct purchases of their new EP ‘Not The Actual Events’ from their website.
The bizarre freebie was teased on the site as a so-called “physical component” to be included with copies of the record and shocked fans have been left delighted and bemused to discover the mystery dark powder scattered over a series of band photos and texts.
It was also came with a sticker that warned the EP “may contain subversive elements that produce feelings of euphoria and [which] may be harmful and unsettling to the consumer”.
The sticker also advised: “This will make a mess.”
Fans hope that the band will announce a tour later this year after they revealed they’ll perform for the first time in three years at Panorama Festival in New York in July.
But when asked if there were plans to take any new music on the road in 2017, Trent kept tight-lipped on the matter.
In December, he said: “Not in the immediate future, but we are discussing it.”
However, fans can expect another musical offering from the ‘Closer’ hitmaker this year as Trent teased they’ve completed “two new major” records due for release in 2017.
The frontman teased: “I’m teeing up the next quote I’ll have to live up to, but the idea has been for two new major works come out next year.”

Billy Corgan: I wanted to die over success of Nirvana and Pearl Jam

OHMYGOSSIP — Billy Corgan became suicidal when Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’ and Pearl Jam’s ‘Ten’ albums were released because they overshadowed the Smashing Pumpkins’ LP ‘Gish’.
The 49-year-old rocker’s band – also comprised of D’arcy Wretzky and Jimmy Chamberlin – found huge success with their debut album, but when Kurt Cobain and Eddie Vedder’s groups stormed the music scene just a year later, he fell into a spiral of depression and felt totally “inadequate” among his peers.
He said: “The Smashing Pumkins had put out one album (‘Gish’) which was very successful but as we were promoting our album, ‘Nevermind’ came out and as everyone knows, it was a massive album, and then Pearl Jam came out too in that time and they were massive.
“So within a short span of time, I went from thinking I was very successful within my given field, to all the rules had changed.
“I went into a very strange depression because I felt like something had been, not taken, but the change made me feel kind of inadequate in a way I wasn’t prepared for.
“I couldn’t write songs and struggled for a breakthrough. It really came off the heels of a suicidal depression.”
Corgan says he showed signs of following through on his desire to kill himself when he started to give away his possessions and was obsessed with his eulogy.
Speaking on Amy Jo Martin’s podcast ‘Why Not Now?’, he added: “I was either going to jump out a window or I was going to change my life. I know that sounds very dramatic but that’s literally what happened. I couldn’t meditate on death anymore. And I had even gotten to the point where, they say it’s very troubling in suicide land, if you start giving away your possessions. And I had already been through those stages. I was giving away stuff and planning my eulogy. And all sorts of weird self absorbed things. ”
The ‘1979’ hitmaker admitted he was saved by a sudden realisation that he needed to concentrate on living in the moment, which led him to writing the Smashing Pumpkins’ familiar 1993 hit ‘Today’.
He added: “I woke up one morning, and I kind of stared out the window and thought, ‘Okay, well, if you’re not going to jump out the window, you better do whatever it is you need to do. That morning I wrote, I think it was the song ‘Today,’ which people would probably be fairly familiar with. It’s the ice cream truck video song. It’s sort of a wry observation on suicide, but in essence the meditation behind the lyric is that every day is the best day, if you let it be.”

Ed Sheeran would love to do a James Bond theme song

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran would be honoured to do a James Bond theme song.
The 26-year-old singer/songwriter would love to follow in the footsteps of Sam Smith, Adele, Dame Shirley Bassey, Sir Tom Jones, Duran Duran, Sir Paul McCartney and more, who have been picked to record the title track for a 007 movie, but he’s not keen on the intense auditioning process that is involved in landing the gig.
Speaking to Roman Kemp on London’s Capital radio station, he said: “Do you know what, I would do it, but I heard when they do the Bond tracks, they ask like, a bunch of people to do it and I think I wouldn’t wanna put like loads and loads of time and effort into a song that was like, part of like five different people going up for it. You know, cause I heard Radiohead went up for it, and I don’t think I would.
On the auditioning side of it, he added: “Obviously it’s a big honour to do, but I would like to be trusted enough that if I ever got bestowed an honour like that, which I do think is a massive honour to do, I would like them to trust me enough that I would be able to do it right.”
However, if he was invited to do it he wouldn’t say no.
Asked if they gave it to him on a plate, would he accept an offer to write it, the flame-haired hunk said: “Err…yeah of course. I don’t think anyone would say no to that. That’s something I definitely would do.”
The ‘Shape of You’ hitmaker also joked with Roman about how he could be the first ever ginger James Bond.
The 24-year-old presenter teased: “Mate you could be the next James Bond.”
To which, Ed laughed: “Imagine, the first ginger James Bond actually no. Roger Moore was ginger wasn’t he?”
Roman added: “Kind of.”
And Ed concluded: “Kind of. We took it as a win.”

Avril Lavigne signs to BMG US for sixth album

OHMYGOSSIP — Avril Lavigne has signed a new record deal with BMG US to release her first album in four years.
The ‘Complicated’ hitmaker had been on hiatus from the music industry after the release of self-titled record in 2013 and in the last two years she battled with Lyme Disease.
But now she has confirmed that she is to put out her sixth studio LP this year and the whole process has been like therapy for the pop rock chick.
Sharing her excitement at joining the label – which looks after her ex-husband Chad Kroger’s band Nickelback, as well as, The Rolling Stones and Janet Jackson – she wrote on Twitter: “Incredibly excited to be a part of the @BMG_US family & working with them on the release of #AL6! So excited to share more with you guys! (sic)”
The 32-year-old beauty also shared a black and white video of herself playing the piano and talking about how emotional this record has been to make and how it came about by accident.
in the short clip, she said: “For this album I have a new team behind me and I’ve just signed with BMG. I’ve been working really hard on new music and it is a reflection of my journey over the last few years. At this point in my career and in my life, I just wanted to just put fresh energy around me and I feel like I’ve had somewhat of a rebirth in my life.
“I’ve been faced with a lot and gone through a lot emotionally.
The whole writing process has been therapeutic and empowering without trying to make an album, I’d made one.”
Avril previously insisted she is “coming out on the other side” following her battle with Lyme Disease, which can affect the skin, joints, heart, and nervous system.
Sharing a picture on Facebook, she wrote at the time: “Overcoming Lyme Disease. Feels good to have my Dr. smile and tell me how much progress I am making. I’m coming out on the other side batches!!! ‪#‎Fighter‬ ‪#‎F**kLymeDisease‬ (sic)”

Ed Sheeran up for Sam Smith collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran hasn’t ruled out collaborating with Sam Smith.
The ‘Eraser’ hitmaker and the 24-year-old singer performed Sam’s hit ‘Stay With Me’ live in Manchester back in 2014, when their albums ‘x’ and ‘In The Lonely Hour’ respectively were doing well in the charts, and the flame-haired hunk would love to team up with him on a track as he thinks he is a “fantastic bloke”.
Asked if it would be an honour to work with Sam – who has an Oscar to his name for the James Bond ‘Spectre’ theme song ‘Writing’s On The Wall’ – he told Roman Kemp on Capital radio station: “Yeah, I think so. I performed with him at one of his shows in Manchester and we sung ‘Stay With Me’ together and it very much felt like, it’s quite weird, we both grew up like really liking Elton John and George Michael, and they obviously did that amazing collaboration together, and at that one time, we were both very successful with both our albums and kind of coming together to sing a song on stage felt really cool. It felt like sort of what it probably felt like with two artists who were doing well at that time, sort of getting together. So I would definitely never rule it out. Um I think he’s amazing. He’s a fantastic bloke and I’m really excited to see what he does next coz I don’t think he’s gonna do what people are expecting.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Castle on the Hill’ star has ruled out auditioning to write a Bond theme like his pal Sam, although he’d love to do it he’s not keen on the intense process artists go through to be considered.
He said: “Do you know what, I would do it, but I heard when they do the Bond tracks, they ask like, a bunch of people to do it and I think I wouldn’t wanna put like loads and loads of time and effort into a song that was like, part of like five different people going up for it. You know, cause I heard Radiohead went up for it, and I don’t think I would…
However, if he was invited by the panel to do it he wouldn’t say no.
Asked if he’d agree to the gig if asked, he said: “Err…yeah of course. I don’t think anyone would say no to that. That’s something I definitely would do.”

Stormzy has a 'duty' to reveal his 'own truths' in his music

OHMYGOSSIP — Stormzy believes he has a “duty” to reveal his “own truths” in his music.
The 23-year-old rapper has described himself as a “social commentator” because he strongly believes he “needs” to address topics that are both negative and positive in his tracks, although he has tried to be “more careful” about his songs.
Speaking to Shelagh Fogarty on LBC radio on Wednesday (01.03.17), the ‘Shut Down’ hitmaker – who won the British Breakthrough Act at this year’s BRIT Awards – said: “The reason why we speak about, like, these things [such as crime], because these are things that go on in our communities, so we’re just being social commentators basically. But I feel like that is such a far-fetched statement.
“So every time I write a lyric or I make music, I firstly I’ve got, I have the responsibility and the duty to tell my own truths. Like firstly, so whatever that is, whether that’s something positive or negative, I need to tell my own truths.
“Secondly, now that I’ve progressed to a certain stage, I try to be more careful, but I don’t like to just like put some censor and say OK I’m not going to say that, because everything I talk about is truth, it’s things that I’ve done in the past or things that my friends have done, or things that we were immersed in, like so I have a responsibility to tell my own truth.”
And the artist – whose full name is Michael Omari – decided to feature grime MC Crazy Titch, who is in prison and convicted of murder, on his debut studio album ‘Gang Signs & Prayer’ because he is a “legend in the grime scene”.
He explained: “I included Crazy Titch because he’s a legend in the grime scene in terms of like, what he stood for and what he done for grime at that moment in time … because of the fact that he’s come from a similar place, he’s now in an unfortunate situation where he’s gone to jail for a very, very long time for a serious, serious crime and it’s something that he regrets, it’s something that he doesn’t endorse, he doesn’t, he’s not proud of it. But that’s someone who meant something to me in my childhood, me growing up.”

Kendrick Lamar reveals the concept behind his new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Kendrick Lamar’s next album will focus on the idea of acceptance.
The chart-topping rap star is currently working hard on a new record following the success of 2015’s ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’ and Kendrick has revealed the album will centre on the idea of learning to accept situations he may not necessarily like, such as when a father has to watch his daughter date a boy for the first time.
Using the concept of parenthood to explain his thinking, Kendrick said: “One day, I may have a little girl … She’s gonna grow up. She’s gonna be a child I adore, I’m gonna always love her, but she’s gonna reach that one point where she’s gonna start experiencing things. And she’s gonna say things or do things that you may not condone, but it’s the reality of it and you know she was always gonna get to that place. And it’s disturbing.
“But you have to accept it. You have to accept it and you have to have your own solutions to figure out how to handle the action and take action for it.”
Kendrick explained that he hopes to articulate those concerns on his new album, and revealed he is making the record as urgently as possible.
He told the New York Times newspaper: “When I say ‘the little girl,’ it’s the analogy of accepting the moment when she grows up. We love women, we enjoy their company.
“At one point in time I may have a little girl who grows up and tells me about her engagements with a male figure – things that most men don’t want to hear. Learning to accept it, and not run away from it, that’s how I want this album to feel.”

Lorde announces new single Green Light

OHMYGOSSIP — Lorde has announced her first single in two years.
The ‘Royals’ hitmaker took to social media to confirm she would be releasing ‘Green Light’, her first track since 2014’s ‘Yellow Flicker Beat’, on March 2.
She wrote on Twitter: “i am so overjoyed to finally announce that my first single, GREEN LIGHT, is coming out tomorrow at 8am nz / 2pm nyc …
“i am so proud of this song. it’s very different, and kinda unexpected. it’s complex and funny and sad and joyous and it’ll make you DANCE …
“it’s the first chapter of a story i’m gonna tell you, the story of the last 2 wild, fluorescent years of my life. this is where we begin …
“GREEN LIGHT debuts with a video directed by the inimitable @grant_singer – tomorrow, 8am nz / 2pm nyc (sic)”
It comes after the 20-year-old singer – whose real name is Ella Yelich-O’Connor – installed clues around her hometown of Auckland in New Zealand to reveal the name of the new track.
She installed artwork at Herne Bay, Ponsonby and Auckland town hall, which included a car lit up with a green light that had smoke coming out of it. The words ‘I do my makeup in someone else’s car’ were posted on one of the car windows.
Meanwhile, at the town hall, the single’s title was projected onto a wall, whilst a short video was on repeat with two dates on it.
Lorde first teased new music as she penned a lengthy message on her Facebook account to celebrate her birthday.
She wrote at the time: “Writing Pure Heroine was my way of enshrining our teenage glory, putting it up in lights forever so that part of me never dies, and this record – well, this one is about what comes next.
“I want nothing more than to spill my guts RIGHT NOW about the whole thing – I want you to see the album cover, pore over the lyrics (the best I’ve written in my life), touch the merch, experience the live show.
“I can hardly stop myself from typing out the name. I just need to keep working a while longer to make it as good as it can be. You’ll have to hold on. The big day is not tomorrow, or even next month realistically, but soon. I know you understand. (sic)”

Tom DeLonge named UFO Researcher of the Year

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom DeLonge has been named UFO Researcher of the Year at the 2017 International UFO Congress.
The former Blink-182 guitarist and co-vocalist parted ways with the ‘All The Small Things’ hitmakers in 2015 in order to focus on his research surrounding unidentified flying objects (UFOs), and he’s now been honoured with the OpenMinds.tv 2017 UFO Researcher of the Year Award at the 2017 International UFO Congress.
Tom, 41, was not present at the ceremony, but recorded a message that teased his research is not yet over, as he said he’s “not done” with his exploration into flying objects which could lead to the confirmation of life on other planets.
He said in his speech: “There’s a lot that I can’t say, but there’s some that I can. And I’m so appreciative that I’ve been acknowledged for this stuff, but I’m not done.”
The ‘What’s My Age Again?’ musician also called for rallying support of his next project – which is expected to be announced within the next two months – as he urged those watching to “be a part of it”.
He continued: “I want you all to know in the UFO community that whoever’s passionate about this kind of paradigm-shifting subject matter, I need you all to look really really closely at that announcement and I need you to be a part of it.
“I want you as an educated group of people to read between the lines and look at the history of what I’ve been doing over the past couple years and get a sense for what the hell I’m getting ready to do. If you guys come along for the ride, it’s going to be pretty fantastic.”
Tom closed his speech by teasing “some big s**t” on the horizon within his research.
He said: “I’ll leave you with one thing: My job has only just begun on this subject matter and there’s some big shit planned and I’m excited about it. Just remember whatever happens in the civilian world, it’s game on.”

Mumford and Sons to headline Latitude Festival

OHMYGOSSIP — Mumford & Sons are set to headline Latitude Festival.
The ‘Little Lion Man’ hitmakers will take to the Obelisk Arena as Saturday night’s headline act in Suffolk’s Henham Park in July, in what will be a UK festival exclusive for the band.
Speaking about their appearance in a statement, the band said: “This collaboration with Latitude is one of the most exciting things we’re doing this year. Ever since we started working on Gentlemen Of The Road Stopovers we’ve really enjoyed curating line ups and sharing not only our own music but also sharing music of artists who we love and are listening to regularly. It’s almost like creating a mix tape with a best friend, but instead it’s a whole day of music, across multiple stages, with 40,000 people!”
Joining Mumford & Sons as headliners are BRIT Award-winning band The 1975 – who will take to the stage on Friday night – and Fleet Foxes, who will close the festival on Sunday and are marking their first British performance in five years with the UK festival exclusive performance.
Fleet Foxes said of the news: “After being holed up in the studio for a year, there’s nothing we’re more excited about than performing new songs and revisiting our catalog at Latitude!”
Other performers taking to the Obelisk stage across the weekend include Goldfrapp, The Horrors, Lucy Rose, and Glass Animals.
Meanwhile, the BBC Music stage will see performances from the likes of Placebo, Fatboy Slim, Jack Garratt and Declan McKenna, whilst the Sunrise stage will welcome acts including Temples, Sunflower Bean, and Honeyblood.
Latitude Festival takes place in Henham Park in Suffolk from July 13 to July 16. Tickets are available now.

Ed Sheeran: I have a song that's better than 'Thinking Out Loud'

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran says he “definitely” has a song that’s better than ‘Thinking Out Loud’.
The 26-year-old musician is due to release his third album ‘÷’ on Friday (03.02.17), and has said there was “no worry” of having to live up to the expectations of his previous album ‘x’ – specifically the heart-warming hit single ‘Thinking Out Loud’ – as he’s convinced his as yet unreleased track ‘Perfect’ is even better.
He said: “I felt that with the first album. I remember thinking I would never write a song as good as ‘A Team’. And then ‘Thinking Out Loud’ came, and I was like, ‘Oh, OK, well maybe it’s not impossible.’
“So going into this album, there was no worry at all because I knew I’d done it before. It’s not like Thinking Out Loud will be the peak of my career. It’s definitely happened on this album. There’s definitely one that’s better.”
And the ‘Shape of You’ hitmaker – who wrote ‘Thinking Out Loud’ with the help of folk singer Amy Wadge – was determined to write more songs completely on his own, as he wanted just his name on the credits of his next big hit.
He added to BBC News Online: “If I had another song as big as that, I wanted it to just say my name on the credits. So I did a lot of solo writing, and that was one of the things that came out of it.
“I had in my mind what sound should be on what song, and which subject matter would be on which song – so I’d write 10 songs for that [idea].
“So there’s six or seven songs about Suffolk, but ‘Castle On The Hill’ was the best one. And then there was a bunch of wedding songs, I guess, and ‘Perfect’ was the best one.”

Lil' Kim's album due 'this year'

OHMYGOSSIP — Lil’ Kim says her new album is “definitely coming out this year”.
The 42-year-old rapper has been working on her fifth studio venture – her first since 2005’s ‘The Naked Truth’ – entitled ‘Black Widow’, and has said she doesn’t have a “specific date” for the release of the record because she’s still working on getting people in the studio to collaborate with her.
She said: “I don’t have a specific date, but it’s definitely coming out this year. I have a couple people I want to work with. I’m not gonna tell you who but there’s a few people I want to work with, so I’m just getting those people together and getting them on the album. With me traveling, performing and doing music, it’s kind of hard. Plus, I got my baby so I’m just levelling everything now. But I’m going hard.”
And the ‘How Many Licks’ hitmaker – who has two-year-old daughter Royal Reign with fellow rapper Mr. Papers – says being a mother hasn’t changed her “approach” to making music, but admits it has had an impact on “how” she has to work.
When asked if being a mother changes her approach to making music, the ‘Crush on You’ musician said: “Nah, it doesn’t change how I approach music, but it changes how I have to work, because I got a baby now. Before, I could be in the studio long, long hours. I could stay in the studio from one o’clock in the afternoon to one o’clock the next afternoon and it’s all good but I got a baby now.”
Lil’ Kim – real name Kimberly Denise Jones – also admits she’s “not changing anything” about her sound just because she has a child.
She told Billboard magazine: “So I’m gonna work and I’m gonna do what I do. But I’m not changing anything because I don’t hide anything from my daughter. I also don’t allow her to be disrespectful. I don’t allow her to do certain things. A child should stay in a child’s place and a baby should be babied.
“I can’t change who I am because that’s when things change. I’m not gonna become a gospel rapper. That’s the only thing left I could do, and it’s not that. So at the end of the day, I’m still gonna be who I am, and I will teach my child as we grow, the difference between certain music.
“Being a mom is not going to change my content in my music, but it will change the approach in how I work. I’m a mom and I’m always with my baby, and I got to make sure my baby is good myself because nobody is gonna make sure my baby’s good the way I do.”

Geri Horner signs to Dolly Parton's management

OHMYGOSSIP — Geri Horner has signed to country music legend Dolly Parton’s management CTK.
The former Spice Girls singer – who was better known as Ginger Spice in the girl group – has been focused on relaunching her solo career for some time now and has landed a new deal with the company based in the home of country, Nashville, Tennessee, after her first stab at a country record leaked last year.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Geri was gutted when her first country album leaked last year.
“But some of the tracks were eight years old and she now sees the mishap as a form of cleansing.
“Geri is really excited about her new music. It will have a country theme but there’s going to be a pop influence.”
The flame-haired beauty previously revealed she was inspired to get back into the studio after riding a horse with her husband Christian Horner – with whom she has one-month-old son Montague – and she is hoping to use the song she sang on horseback for her record.
The 44-year-old beauty – who also has 10-year-old daughter Bluebell with her ex Sacha Gervasi – shared: “I’m back in the studio. Oh my God, I’m so excited. The strangest place that I’ve done recording is on horseback in Austin, Texas. Christian was ahead of me and I was singing to the horse. If I’ve got a melody I want to keep it.”
Geri – who released a number of singles including ‘It’s Raining Men’ and ‘Lift Me Up’ following her departure from the Spice Girls – has enlisted the help of some well known songwriters to help re-launch her music career
Geri has been working with Amy Wadge, who co-wrote Ed Sheeran’s hit single ‘Thinking Out Loud’, and Eliot Kennedy – who penned the Spice Girls song ‘Say You’ll Be There’.
Speaking about working with Eliot, she said: “It’s beautiful. Elton John and [lyricist] Bernie Taupin, how they have that collaborative feeling, we’ve been able to do that.”
Geri’s new record will be the follow-up 2005’s ‘Passion’.
