Pat Benatar is making new music

OHMYGOSSIP — Pat Benatar has announced she’s recording new music.
The 64-year-old American singer/songwriter recently released songs for the first time in more than a decade and she has revealed there’s more tracks in the pipeline.
In January she unveiled ‘Shine’ for the Woman’s March and to raise funds for B.A. Rudolph Foundation and she will next release ‘Dancing Through the Wreckage’.
In an interview with Billboard, Pat said: “We have so much stuff written; it’s just that we’re [touring] so much, and it’s really impossible to record and work at the same time. I think we did 160 shows last year, so it’s nuts. But this year we’re going to cut back a lot so we can make another record. We just told management and the agent, ‘That’s it! We’re not going to do this ridiculous amount of live shows this year. We’re just going to stay home and record these songs.”
Pat’s husband and partner-in-rock Neil Giraldo wrote ‘Dancing Through the Wreckage’ with Linda Perry and the couple are planning on making another album which will mark their first since ‘Go’ in 2003.
Pat said: “I don’t know if we’re going to do an EP or a full [album]. We’re just gonna do ’em and wherever they go, they go. You have to get ’em out. The point of making records now is simply for the fact of getting the songs out there. It’s not the same things as it was. It’s not that pressing. But you still want to make records. You want to record new songs because you need to do that. For the songs to come to their full fruition or to evolve to what they need to be, you must record them. And there’s so many ways to get music out now, so that’s good.”
Pat and Neil are also celebrating 35 years of marriage this year – having been together since recording her debut album 1979’s ‘In the Heat of the Night’.
Benatar quipped: “I don’t know how he does it. We’ve got it down now. It’s been a long time, and it’s the way we began. It’s the only way we know how to do it. So it just rolls along. You get into a really good rhythm, which we got into a long, long time ago. Not that it doesn’t have challenges; it does, but we’re committed. It’s good.”

The Chainsmokers got Chris Martin's opinion of their music

OHMYGOSSIP — The Chainsmokers got Chris Martin’s opinion on their new songs when they worked with Coldplay on their collaboration ‘Something Just Like This’.
The electronic pop duo – Alex Pall and Drew Taggart – were thrilled when they got to work with their idols on the EDM track which will feature on their upcoming debut album ‘Memories… Do Not Open’ and which they unveiled at the BRIT Awards in February.
When they had Chris, 40, in the studio they took the opportunity to play him some of their other songs but didn’t always take his advice.
In an interview with NME magazine, Alex said: “We’re writing songs about ourselves that feel raw … and those guys all did that at one point. But their music’s become global. Chris would be like, ‘This is a great song. But does the world need this song?’ And I’d be like, ‘I guess not. But it’s important to us.’ ”
Praising Chris’ backcatalogue of classic hits, such as ‘Fix You’, ‘The Scientist’ and Paradise’, Drew added: “As a songwriter he nails that hopeful, melancholy feeling that I grew up on.”
Drew, 27, who writes most of The Chainsmokers songs, wrote ‘Closer’ about the sense of regret after hooking up with an ex. And he has promised that the tracks on the new album will document more real life dilemmas.
He said: “There are songs about great moments and ugly moments and tempting moments. There are people who’ll hear a song and have an idea it’s about them. It’s Drew writing Drew. Talking about those times when you’re not your best self and owning it. No one should feel that they have to be perfect. And we can be role models if we own our mistakes.”
Meanwhile Alex, 31, has acknowledged the importance of using the band’s fame to make a difference.
He explained: “I think it’s important that we use our platform to do good and our music to connect with people on a real level. For example, yesterday, we got this email about a nine-year-old kid who was diagnosed with… I don’t want to say a terminal disease, but he was going to be incredibly ill for the rest of his life. His brain was unresponsive and the parents were devastated. But they played a video of us performing ‘Closer’ and it was the first time that he responded to anything. He was dancing around in his wheelchair. And the parents were crying.”
He added: “I can’t believe our music made this moment. The song means something so different to that family than it does to the frat kid in Delaware.”

Olly Alexander: Songwriting's healing

OHMYGOSSIP — Olly Alexander says songwriting has been a “real healing process” for him.
The Years & Years frontman has been penning tracks about his “personal life and identity”.
He said: “I’ve been writing a lot of songs about my personal life and identity. That can be a real healing process.
“If you’re making something tangible, whether it’s clothing, a song, a piece of art … when you create something that’s outside of yourself you take a bit of the pain and it’s released, you let it out a little bit. That’s my Oprah Winfrey moment.”
And the 26-year-old singer admits he struggled with anxiety and depression when he first started out in the music group.
He added: “With anxiety and depression, what’s been most helpful to me has been learning a toolbox – a set of skills I can use when I’m in periods of low mood or feel an anxiety attack coming on. When Years & Years took off it felt like I needed that toolbox really quickly.
“[I was lucky to] have a good support network and access to therapy and medication. That’s how I coped. I’m sure anyone can imagine what being exposed in that way is like.”
And Olly is happy to open up about mental health as he sees a “strength in being honest” about his own struggles.
He told London’s Evening Standard newspaper: “It doesn’t make me uncomfortable because these are all areas which I feel are very authentic. I think there’s strength in being honest and open about yourself and your struggles.
“But it can also be a challenge. This is my life, I live with my own mental health, and that is happening to me every day. I can talk about it from a position of ‘Oh, I’ve done this’ but I’m still living that existence.”

Louisa Johnson's grime song

OHMYGOSSIP — Louisa Johnson wants to record a grime song.
The ‘Tears’ hitmaker is gearing up to release her debut LP but would love for her second album to explore different music genres.
She said: “I love so many different styles of music, where I grew up it was always about rap music. I always grew up listening to rap, Eminem before he even became commercial and garage I absolutely love, it would be great to explore and consider doing that.
“I would love to try different things with my second album, as the pop route might not work. I’m seeing what things people are picking up on. I’ll do an album of pop and people might not like that, so why not do one full of R&B as people may like that more?”
For now though, the 19-year-old singer is releasing her new single ‘Best Behaviour’, which she says is very “honest”.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: “The song is about being on your best behaviour, well trying to be, it’s a bit naughty.
“It’s about trying to be good in the early stages of a relationship. I don’t really worry about what I say. It’s not a song for five-year-olds. I quite like to be honest and give a lot away in my music, it proves I’m real.”
Meanwhile, Louisa previously revealed she will be collaborating with Clean Bandit once again on her new album.
She said: “I’ve got a few collaborations coming up, I can’t tell you about all of them but they’re on the album.
“I’ve got another song with Clean Bandit. I’m a huge fan of their music so I’m really excited about it.
“If I could work with anyone it would be Eminem. I always loved rapping growing up.”

Justin Timberlake: Frank Ocean should've won a Grammy

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Timberlake says Frank Ocean’s LP ‘Blonde’ should’ve won Album of The Year at the Grammys.
The ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ singer has seemingly taken a swipe at British pop superstar Adele after telling his 58.2 million followers that he thinks the 29-year-old rapper was the “real” winner of the prestigious accolade and that the ‘Hello’ hitmaker’s record ’25’, which won, wasn’t as good as the ‘Swim Good’ singer’s release.
Congratulating Ocean on his new song with Calvin Harris called ‘Slide’, he wrote in a series of tweets on the micro-blogging site: “That Calvin Harris/Frank Ocean/Migos tho…….. While I’m at it … Frank Ocean had the REAL Album Of The Year with BLONDE. #NotFakeNews (sic)”
However, there was no way that Ocean could have picked up the prize as he didn’t submit his record for consideration because he felt the system was outdated, and out of touch with young black artists.
At the time, he said: “I think the infrastructure of the awarding system and the nomination system and screening system is dated.”
He then became involved in a feud with the producers of the bash after he said that the ceremony puts millions of people “to sleep” and they’re being forced to turn to YouTube to watch their favourite performers from the night.
He said previously: “Believe the people. Believe the ones who’d rather watch select performances from your program on YouTube the day after because your show puts them to sleep. Use the old gramophone to actually listen bro, I’m one of the best alive.”
Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich and writer David Wild hit out at Ocean after he said the show was “dated”, but they believed his gripe was actually over his shoddy 2013 appearance.
They said: “We executed his vision knowing that it was faulty. And we tried to tell him that, we tried to tell his management that, we tried to tell the record label that. So, his feelings about the Grammys right now, I would imagine, probably go back to that in one way. But honestly, it wasn’t us.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lorde is set to release her new album ‘Melodrama’ in June.
The 20-year-old singer has publicly announced on social media her upcoming LP will be officially unveiled on June 16, and the star teased the exciting news with the release of an entirely separate “sister” track to the compilation titled ‘Liability’.
The brunette beauty posted a string of tweets to broadcast the news. She wrote: “oh, and also, Melodrama has an official release date: JUNE 16. you can preorder it here https://lorde.lnk.to/melodrama
“i wanted you to have a new song from Melodrama, a new chapter of the story – this is Liability (sic).”
The ‘Royals’ hitmaker has been left feeling “big and intense” after dropping the record.
She continued: “wow feels big and intense having liability out in the world strange part of myself for a lot of people to look at
“good though
“ps. not a single for those asking, just a strange little sister of this album really. but i love it (sic).”
And the star has admitted producer Jack Antonoff “pushed” her a lot whilst creating the album.
She reflected: “remember being in a big beautiful verdant studio in la with jack and those falling chords sounding like the music i grew up on
“jack truly pushed me to a place i’d never been with this album i couldn’t love him more for it (sic).”
However, Lorde – whose real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor – has admitted she was not a fan of her recently released record because it “freaked and grossed” her out at first.
She added: “this song freaked & grossed me out at first
“& i remember my synesthesia was really blaring in the session, this swirling combo of high school and recent and private and public memories
“felt like when i walk down the hall kind of drunk at a party and shut myself in a bedroom to mumble something happy or sad into my phone (sic).”
Meanwhile, the New Zealand-born star has revealed Rihanna’s single ‘Higher’, which she first heard in the back of a taxi, inspired ‘Liability’.
Speaking previously about how the track was formed, she said: “I had a little cry and I was just like ‘It’s always going to be this way, at some point with everyone it’s going to be this way’. But the song kind of ended up turning into a bit of a protective talismans for me. I was like, you know what, I’m always going to have myself so I have to really nurture this relationship and feel good about hanging out with myself and loving myself.”

Jon Anderson to perform with Yes

OHMYGOSSIP — Jon Anderson will perform with Yes at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
The former frontman of the progressive rock band hasn’t performed with the group since May 2008 when their 40th anniversary ‘Close to the Edge and Back Tour’ was abruptly cancelled after Jon suffered an asthma attack and was later diagnosed with acute respiratory failure.
The remaining members of the ‘Owner of a Lonely Heart’ hitmakers then reportedly grew tired of waiting for Jon to return to the band, and in September of that year they announced he had been replaced by Benoît David.
Now, the 72-year-old rocker has confirmed the band are to let bygones be bygones as they are set to reunite to perform together when they are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 7.
Jon will join current members Steve Howe and Alan White, as well as Yes alumni Rick Wakeman, Tony Kaye and Bill Bruford, to accept the band’s trophies and also perform.
Speaking about his performance with the band, Jon said: “We’re definitely connected. It’s a family. There’s always animosity. People that you love you don’t always like, and there’s always going to be that. But when you’re celebrating who you truly are, you forget about all that and just get on with meeting each other and seeing each other, and it’s just one of those things. It’s not a problem; We’ll just get together and have fun. Music is a healing force on every level.”
Jon also spoke about the passing of founding Yes member Chris Squire, who died in 2015 after suffering from leukemia. He will be represented at the ceremony by his widow, Scotland.
He said of his former band mate: “He always believed that we should have been in the Hall of Fame. It wasn’t high on my agenda. ‘It happens when it happens’ was my mantra. But we know Chris will be there in spirit, in energy. I loved the guy very much. Without him I wouldn’t be here, that’s for sure. And I can’t believe it’s nearly 50 years ago when me and Chris started the band. You think you’re gonna be together two, three years maybe, if you’re lucky, and here we are. Yes’ music is still surviving.”
And the star also hinted that Rush’s Geddy Lee – who is set to appear at the ceremony to give the induction speech – would be filling in for the late bassist for their performance of ‘Roundabout’, however the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation later released a statement claiming this is not the case.
They said via Billboard magazine: “Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson were only confirmed to do the induction speech for one of their favourite bands and not perform. They, like all the other Yes fans, look forward to honouring them and watching them perform at the induction ceremony on April 7 and the HBO broadcast on April 29.”

Speech Debelle to release cook book alongside album

OHMYGOSSIP — Speech Debelle will release a cook book alongside her new album.
The 33-year-old rapper is set to release her third full length record – titled ‘tantil before i breathe.’ – later this month, and has now revealed plans to accompany the LP with a cook book and memoir entitled ‘tantil before i breathe: a cookbook and memoir by Speech Debelle’.
In a statement written on her website, Speech – real name Corynne Elliot – says “music and food are art” which she believes go hand in hand as they both “heal and inspire”.
She said: “I’ve been an open book since the beginning, it made sense to put that into something tangible. I’ve experienced so much in my career that I wanted to share some of the stories. These are the lessons I’ve learnt about the business and myself; the journey with the two has been parallel.
“The healing happens when we’re ready. There’ll be that one lover that’ll show you what you need to show yourself. The conversation you’ve been waiting your whole life to have with your mother or father without even knowing it. That look in the mirror one day when you see yourself as beautiful. Your skin, bones and soul.”
Speech first rose to prominence in 2009 when she bagged the Mercury Music Prize for her debut album ‘Speech Therapy’, despite being considered an outsider at the time.
After releasing her second album ‘Freedom of Speech’ in 2012, the ‘Go Then, Bye’ hitmaker stepped away from the music scene in order to “grow and develop her other passions”, including cooking.
She appeared on cooking competition ‘Celebrity Masterchef’ in 2013, where she managed to become one of the final five contestants before she was kicked out after creating a vegetarian meal.
Speech Debelle’s cook book will be available as a digital download, and is to be released at the same time as her album on March 17 2017.

P. Diddy launches campaign in memory of The Notorious B.I.G

OHMYGOSSIP — P. Diddy has launched a social media campaign in the memory of The Notorious B.I.G.
The ‘Mo Money Mo Problems’ hitmaker – real name Christopher Wallace – was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting 20 years ago, and to mark the anniversary of his death his friend and collaborator P. Diddy has taken to social media to launch the “#WeMissYouBIG” campaign.
Diddy – real name Sean Combs – is urging fans of the late star to post a video of themselves rapping their favourite Notorious B.I.G lyrics, alongside the “#WeMissYouBIG” hashtag. The 47-year-old rapper will then take these clips and edit them into one video to commemorate the legacy of his late friend.
In a video posted to his Twitter page, the ‘I’ll Be Missing You’ hitmaker said: “Check this out, this is what I want you to do. I want you to rap your favourite Biggie verse and post it with the hashtag #WeMissYouBig.
“I’m going to chop it up and everything and we’re going to put out something special with all the fans and friends and family involved to celebrating The Notorious B.I.G.’s life.
“We definitely miss you.”
Diddy accompanied the video with a tweet which read: “20 years ago today we lost the greatest rapper of all time, The Notorious B.I.G. #WeMissYouBIG (sic)”
The rapper also took to Instagram to share the same video clip, and said: “20 years ago today we lost the greatest rapper of all time, The Notorious B.I.G. We’re celebrating his life through his music and through his legacy today. I want everyone to get involved and rap your favorite Biggie verse, tag me and use the hashtag #WeMissYouBIG @badboyent (sic)”
The social media campaign comes as one of many projects announced for the anniversary of Biggie’s death, including a posthumous duet album with his widow Faith Evans – with whom he shared son, Christopher Wallace Jr., 20 – slated for release in May called ‘The King & I’.
Biggie – who also had daughter T’yanna with Jan Jackson – was just 24 when he was shot by an unknown assailant in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles on March 9 1997.
The ‘Juicy’ rapper – who is highly regarded as one of the most influential rappers of all time – was shot four times before he died later in hospital from ballistic trauma.
His murder – which remains unsolved – came just six months after fellow rapper Tupac Shakur was killed in similar circumstances.

Drake makes surprise appearance at The Weeknd's concert

OHMYGOSSIP — Drake made a surprise appearance at The Weeknd’s concert on Wednesday (08.03.17).
The 27-year-old singer and songwriter – whose full name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye – took to the stage at London’s O2 Arena last night to perform his hit tracks, but the artist stunned the audience when he welcomed the 30-year-old rapper on to the platform during his gig.
The Canadian hunk put on an unforgettable display as he performed a new version of his 2016 hit ‘Fake Love’, his 2015 single with Future titled ‘Jumpman’, and ‘Energy’.
However, Drake – who is also known as Aubrey Drake Graham – made sure not to steal the limelight during the concert, and took the time to praise the ‘Starboy’ hitmaker in a heartfelt speech, which saw him reminisce on their partnership and when he first heard The Weeknd’s debut mixtape ‘House of Balloons’.
Speaking at the event about the musician, who he joined forces with on his 2011 hit ‘Take Care’ featuring Rihanna, he said: “You played me ‘What You Need’. After that, we met up at the studio and I heard ‘House of Balloons’.”
And Drake has revealed the 2011 mixtape is one of his favourite LP’s “of all time”.
He continued: “[It] is in my top five albums of all time.
“OVO and XO forever, it doesn’t matter where we are.”
The pair – who are currently on their European tour together – have regularly accompanied one another on stage in the past; Drake invited the dark-haired vocalist out whilst he was singing in Germany, and at London’s Wireless festival in 2012 the duo paired up to sing ‘Crew Love’.
And there is growing speculation Drake and The Weekend will join forces again as the Ontario-born record producer is reportedly set to feature on the ‘One Dance’ singer’s ‘More Life’ album, which is rumoured to be in the final stages and soon to be released.

Sia and Pink team up on new single Waterfall

OHMYGOSSIP — Sia and Pink have teamed up on new song ‘Waterfall’.
The 41-year-old Australian pop beauty and the ‘Trouble’ hitmaker have provided the vocals for the track, which has been co-written by superstar producers and songwriters Stargate – Tor Erik Hermansen and Mikkel Storleer Eriksen – Sia, Major Lazer’s Diplo and Jr Blender, and has a dancehall feel to it.
Sharing a clip of the song on their Instagram account, Stargate wrote: “Setting fires with @pink and @siathisisacting! hit that link in the profile to pre-save our new song #Waterfall to your @spotify #whoisstargate (sic)”
Stargate – who are famed for their work with Rihanna, Beyonce and Coldplay – have recently inked a new deal with Sony RCA for an album, which the track will be released on.
It is the first new music from Pink, 37, since last year’s ‘Just Like Fire’.
Sia has been owning the charts with ‘Cheap Thrills’ and ‘Living Out Loud’.
And Stargate have been busy working on Charli XCX’s new record with producer SOPHIE.
The ‘After the Afterparty’ pop singer has teamed up with both of her longtime collaborators for her third studio LP.
The ‘Doing It’ hitmaker said she got them together because she wanted to mix their different styles to make a record of “progressive pop music”.
She previously said: “I think it always needs a shake up and I think multiple artists do that but I want to push it.
“I’ve been collaborating with people from PC Music so that’s been very inspiring for me – the way they think about music and the way that they create music and transferring that into like a more pop realm is something that is cool and yeah, it’s next level! I’m not really saying too much about it right now because I just want it to talk for itself. And it will.”
‘Waterfall’ will be released on Friday (10.03.17).

Black Sabbath confirmed The End of the group

OHMYGOSSIP — Black Sabbath have confirmed “the end” of the group.
The iconic heavy metal group might have wrapped up their final tour last month, with a two-hour concert at the NEC Arena in their hometown Birmingham, West Midlands, but they officially brought down the curtain on their 49-year career with a post on social media on Tuesday (07.03.17).
Alongside a picture with the words, “Black Sabbath 1968 – 2017”, posted on Facebook, they wrote: “#TheEnd (sic).”
Despite rumours that they would continue to make music and just stop touring, it appears the ‘Paranoid’ rockers – frontman Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler – have decided to call it quits after almost a decade together.
Sabbath brought the band’s ‘The End Tour’, which began in the US in January last year, to its conclusion on February 5, and Ozzy, 68, thanked fans for their loyal support.
As he left the stage, he said: “Thank you, goodnight, thank you so much.”
Ozzy formed the band alongside Tony, Geezer and drummer Bill Ward back in 1968.
The so-called Prince of Darkness quit the group in 1977 and was replaced by Rainbow’s Ronnie James Dio, but the original line-up made their return in 1997.
Ozzy, Tommy and Geezer were joined on stage at the final shows of the tour by drummer Tommy Clufetos and keyboard player Adam Wakeman, and their last-ever song was broadcast live over Black Sabbath’s Facebook page.
Speaking prior to the final gig, Ozzy admitted he was experiencing “a whirlwind of emotions”.
He said “I remember playing the Crown pub in Birmingham and thinking, ‘This’ll be good for a couple of years – drink a few beers and have a jam’.
“But it was the beginning of the most incredible adventure you could think of. I’ve had the best life out of it.”
He insisted, too, that there was no chance the band will make a comeback in the years to come, insisting the Birmingham gig represents the end of the road for them.
He said: “This is definitely it. It’s run its course.”
However, fans of the iconic rock group have already been asked to contribute memorabilia towards an exhibition celebrating the band’s legacy, which will tour internationally next year.

Steve Aoki says 'expect the unexpected' with Lauren Jauregui collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — Steve Aoki says fans should “expect the unexpected” with his upcoming collaboration with Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui.
The DJ-and-producer – who, in December, released ‘Just Hold On’ with One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson – has been busy in the studio with Lauren and he has been very impressed with her pop ideas.
Speaking about to Billboard about their musical hook-up, he teased: “It’s going to be something people won’t expect.
“We’re definitely working on stuff in the studio and I want to nail it. She’s one of my favourite singers, so for me it’s really exciting to work with her because I really love her ideas and we’re on the same page about so many different things that it’s going to be an exciting record that we do together … Expect the unexpected.”
Steve and Louis’ tune – the 1D hunk’s debut solo single – has become a global hit, but the EDM star admits he was surprised by just how well the track did in the charts.
Steve, 39, said: “I knew it was a great song but you just don’t know. I always feel like whenever I finish a song it’s a great song but what song is really going to connect with people, there is so many different reasons why it connects with people, lyrically it’s a song everyone goes through – when you go through a hard time, just hold on and move forward in life. And I think the unexpected collaboration was pretty exciting for a lot of people … Louis’ a really creative guy who’s got a lot of ideas up his sleeve, he brings a lot to the table and he’s just a really good guy. He became a really good friend and one of my favourite collaborations.”
Steve said the most unexpected thing about that collaboration was getting all the attention from the ‘Directioners’ as he’s not used to such hardcore fandom.
He said: “When we’re two guys in the studio trying to finish music, you forget about the past and what was happening … then you’re in the motion, on a moving train that’s moving so fast and it’s like how do you process – like, ‘Woah’, there’s all this happening – especially me – he’s used to all the fans because that’s his world but I was like, ‘Wow’, I couldn’t believe what was going on.”
Steve – who has a new album coming out later this year – now feels as though he is an ‘adopted’ member of 1D and an honorary ‘Directioner’ thanks to ‘Just Hold On’.
He explained: “They adopted me, I’m part of their gang now, I’m accepted. It means a lot because there’s a lot of them and they all work together so well in really propping up songs and being the best street team in the world – there’s nothing stronger than all of them combined in pushing to get this song charted and it’s incredible.”

Halsey's new album will be Hopeless Fountain Kingdom

OHMYGOSSIP — Halsey has announced her new album will be called ‘Hopeless Fountain Kingdom’.
The 22-year-old American singer/songwriter – real name Ashley Nicolette Frangipane – has updated her fans on the release of her new album, which is a follow up to her debut LP ‘Badlands’.
She took to Twitter on Tuesday (07.03.17) to tell her 4.02 million followers that her new album would be out in June.
She uploaded a topless photo of herself holding a rose over her shoulder and wrote: “I’m pleased to announce my upcoming album, this june, is titled: hopeless fountain kingdom. see you soon (sic)”
When fans asked whether the topless picture which accompanied the announcement was her album cover, she replied: “Nope! When I’m ready for you to have the album cover, I’m gonna make you find it (sic)”.
Her first album, released in August 2015, peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 chart. The debut record which featured hits like ‘New Americana’ and ‘Colors’, earned 1.14 million equivalent album units in the US (through March 2) according to Nielsen Music. Of these, 497,000 were in traditional album sales.
Most people will recognise Halsey for her vocals on The Chainsmoker’s smash hit ‘Closer’.
In the run up to her new music announcement, Halsey has been dropping various hints – including having invited 100 fans to a London church in February to get a taste of what ‘Hopeless Fountain Kingdom’ will sound like.
The lucky group heard four of her new tracks of which are set to feature on the upcoming album.
She also previously hinted on Twitter “There are big things coming. And I didn’t hold anything back.”
