Sister Sledge to release new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Sister Sledge are set to release a new album.
Sisters Debbie and Kim Sledge have been left devastated by the sudden death of their sister and band mate Joni – who died on March 10 from natural causes at the age of 60 – and they’ve not only vowed to continue performing together as a duo, but they are reportedly set to release their first record since 2003’s ‘Style’.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: “Kim and Debbie plan to continue as a duo and they are considering releasing the music as a tribute to honour Joni.”
The ‘We Are Family’ hitmakers said they are fully “committed” to continuing Joni’s legacy and will fulfil all of their upcoming shows.
They recently said in a statement: “Sister Sledge will continue with their 2017 concert schedule. Sister Sledge – Debbie, Kim and the Sledge family – would like to express our deepest gratitude to all who have extended their love and support during this difficult and challenging time of mourning, in the wake of the passing of our beloved sister Joni Sledge.
“Joni was a beautiful person, phenomenal artist and producer, a brilliant business woman and a powerhouse! One of her greatest loves and joys was performing live with her family. In the spirit of Joni’s powerful strength of character, zest for life and spreading joy through music, we are committed to continuing her legacy.
“Therefore, in this new 2017 concert season, and in the true Sister Sledge family tradition, we will embrace and celebrate Joni, dedicating every concert in honor of her remarkable and beautiful life. WE ARE SISTERS. We are one… We are Flo’s daughters. We are Family! WE ARE WAMOWS! (sic)”
Joni’s tragic passing brings the group down to a duo after sister Kathy left the group in 1989.
Amongst other shows, Sister Sledge will take to the stage at SpringFest Official at Edinburgh’s Corn Exchange on May 27 and 28, dedicating their main stage performance to their late sibling.

Frank Iero urges fans to 'respect boundaries'

OHMYGOSSIP — Frank Iero has urged his fans to “respect boundaries” during his tour.
The 35-year-old singer is currently on tour in Russia with his band Frank Iero and The Patience, and suggested in a lengthy Twitter post that his fans had been involved in “high speed taxi chases” and “following [them] to train stations” in order to meet the star.
Frank – who was formerly the guitarist for My Chemical Romance before their split in 2013 – highlighted the need for “privacy” in order for the band to be able to put on “the best show possible”.
Taking to the social media site to post a picture of his open letter, the ‘Weighted’ singer wrote: “Dear friends, I truly appreciate your love & enthusiasm for the patience coming to tour your cities, please know we are excited too! However high speed taxi chases to our hotels & following us to train stations where we have to load & account for gear in a small amount of time is not only extremely unsafe, it adds an incredible amount of stress to our work & travel, & strips us of the small amount of privacy we so desperately need in order to put on the best show possible for you. I hope you understand this request or at least can respect these boundaries as I believe it will benefit all of us and the performances.I look forward to seeing you all at the shows! xofrnk (sic)”
Frank captioned the picture with a tweet which read: “Important, please translate and share. Thanks xofrnk (sic)”
He then later tweeted another picture of the same letter, this time translated into Russian.
He captioned that image: “Important message from yesterday translated. Please share, thank you xofrnk (sic)”

Nile Rodgers feels 'heartbroken' by Joni Sledge's death

OHMYGOSSIP — Nile Rodgers found Joni Sledge’s death “heartbreaking”.
The 64-year-old star co-wrote and co-produced Sister Sledge’s 1979 breakthrough album ‘We Are Family’ and has admitted to being devastated by the recent passing of Joni, who died from natural causes on March 10 at the age of 60.
He shared: “It’s really heartbreaking. To me, they always felt like our younger sisters. How can they die before us, you know?”
Nile said Joni’s outspoken nature marked her out as being different from her sisters, Debbie, Kim and Kathy.
He told Billboard: “She was sort of like the leader of the group, the most outspoken.
“Even though Kathy had that magical voice, Joni was the one who, when you ask a question she’s the one who gives the answer, ’cause all four people can’t speak. It would be a cacophony.”
What’s more, Nile revealed he still considers the ‘We Are Family’ album to be “the best record I ever made” – even though he has worked with some of the biggest-selling artists in history.
He explained: “That was the record that proved [Chic] could do what we do for ourselves for others, that we could look inside someone’s soul and put our version of their truth onto them and superimpose it onto them and create this new entity we believed we understood.
“There’s no filler on Sister Sledge; Every song is awesome. It was a record that was really incredible to us.”
Meanwhile, Nile is currently putting the finishing touches to ‘It’s About Time’, his first Chic album in 25 years – and he’s told fans they can expect to hear it “soon”.
The music icon – who co-founded the band with Bernard Edwards – said: “It hit me that 2017 was the 40th anniversary of Studio 54 and the 40th anniversary of Chic. We started together.
“So I’m thinking that’s a good omen for putting this thing out soon.”

Blossoms to support Stone Roses at Wembley

OHMYGOSSIP — Blossoms have been announced as the main support act for The Stone Roses at Wembley.
The ‘Charlemagne’ rockers – Tom Ogden, Joe Donovan, Charlie Salt, Josh Dewhurst and Myles Kellock – will be joined by Sleaford Mods and The G-O-D as they support their heroes on June 17.
Announcing the support slot on Twitter, Blossoms wrote: “WE’RE VERY PROUD & EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE WE’LL BE MAIN SUPPORT TO @thestoneroses @wembleystadium on SAT 17th JUN (sic)”
The group no doubt didn’t tag Sleaford Mods in the post as in May last year they were involved in a Twitter spat.
Rock duo Sleaford – Jason Williamson and musician Andrew Fearn – slammed the group hailing them a “s***” version of punk rock band Savage Garden.
They wrote on the micro-blogging site: “Blossoms sound like Savage Garden, with a little bit of sh** in it. F***in Jesus (sic)”
And Blossoms fired back calling them “old”.
They quipped: “@sleafordmods up early tomorrow for pension day? Careful out there (sic)”
And they didn’t stop there, Sleaford added: “@BlossomsBand ffs. the irony being in ‘youth’ you are absolutely f***kin useless. Boardroom kiss arse tick w***rs (sic)”
Blossoms were lucky enough to share a stage with the ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ hitmakers – Ian Brown, John Squire, Alan Wren and Mani – at their Etihad Stadium show in Manchester in June and found it “surreal” supporting for their idols.
The indie pop band felt honoured to not only support the legendary Manchester-based group at the Etihad Stadium, but to get to perform at their favourite football team, Manchester City’s ground.
Speaking after their set, frontman Tom said: “Being on stage was surreal. Part of me couldn’t wait for it to finish so that we could get off and see the Roses.”
And drummer Joe added: “We’re Manchester City fans. I saw Sergio Aguero’s goal that won us the Premiere League here. For us to be playing at City’s ground, that’s special.”

Kasabian tease new song You're in Love With A Psycho

OHMYGOSSIP — Kasabian have teased their new single ‘You’re In Love With A Psycho’ from their forthcoming album.
The rock band – comprised of Tom Meighan, Serge Pizzorno, Chris Edwards, and Ian Matthews – have been giving fans brief updates on their hotly-anticipated follow-up to 2014’s ’48:13′ over the last 12 months, and now guitarist Serge has revealed the lead track was written in 15 minutes and is a “weird anthem” for everyone who has either been in love with a psycho or is one.
In an audio clip shared on the ‘Club Foot’ group’s Instagram, Serge explained: “You’re In Love With A Psycho is one of the first tunes I wrote on the album, for the album. It took about 15 minutes. It just flowed. I didn’t really think and all the lyrics came.
“It’s a weird anthem for everyone. You’ve either been in love with one or you are one. It sort of celebrates that. You know it’s not sort of … dark.”
It’s not the first song Kasabian have shared with their fans on social media as they shared another one seemingly called ‘Pressie’ on Christmas Day (25.12.16).
Posting a link to their SoundCloud.com account on Twitter, the ‘Fire’ hitmakers wrote: #merrychristmas from Kasabian … here’s your #Pressie: (sic)”
Although the link took fans to an audio clip entitled ‘Pressie’, it is unknown as of yet whether that is the actual track name, or if it just represented the shortened word for present.
The ‘Fire’ hitmakers revealed in May 2015 that they had almost completed work on the LP, but after the record never materialised, Serge admitted he made a lot of changes following a relaxing summer break that left him feeling rejuvenated.
At the time, he said: “In May the record was done but I’d never had any time off, so I thought, ‘You know what? I’m going to have the summer off for the first time in my life.’
“It was incredible. I got married, went on holiday for ages and just lived a bit. When I came back in September, I decided to graffiti over everything.
“I’d done everything on an acoustic for the first time and had these beautiful crafted tunes but started graffiting over the lot, just taking it to another level.
“I wrote another tune which is incredible and then two weeks ago I wrote one of the best tunes I’ve ever written.”

Joe Jonas contemplated quitting music

OHMYGOSSIP — Joe Jonas contemplated giving up music because of the pressures of growing up in the spotlight.
The 27-year-old singer shot to fame as one third of the Jonas Brothers in 2005 at the age of 12 – along with his siblings Nick, 24, and Kevin, 29 – and has admitted he was tempted to give up on his music career, but each time he tried to do something different such act or DJ, he realised how important music was to his life.
However, that hasn’t stopped the DNCE singer having ventures outside of music, as he now co-owns a number of restaurants in Los Angeles.
He explained: “There were moments when I thought about hitting the reset button and doing something else. I’ve done acting, done DJing, but I always come back to music because that’s what I enjoy the most.
“I have a restaurant with two business partners in Santa Monica and we’re about to open another one in West Hollywood. We’re also opening some coffee shops. It’s a totally different thing but it’s great to have a creative outlet away from music – it’s an art form in itself.”
Joe fronts pop group DNCE and says he feels “more comfortable” being in a band as it has taken the “pressure” off him and allowed him to be himself.
He said: “It definitely takes the pressure off. I prefer to be in a band – I feel more comfortable and feel I can be myself.
“And I’m doing it with a great bunch of people I love and appreciate.”
Meanwhile, Joe said that he thinks the reason teen stars crumble is because of the immense amount of surveillance they under, and although he’s experienced that he was “lucky” to have a support network around him.
He told the Metro newspaper: “It’s a lot of pressure and you have to grow up fast while there are a lot of eyeballs on you. It’s not easy having your life put under a microscope and your ups and downs are there for everyone to see.
“I was lucky to have good people around to help me.”

Paramore register new album?

OHMYGOSSIP — Paramore have reportedly registered an album’s worth of songs.
The pop punk trio – consisting of singer Hayley Williams, guitarist Taylor York, and drummer Zac Farro – are believed to have registered 12 new tracks to the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) ACE Repertory, suggesting their long-awaited fifth studio album is finally complete.
A Twitter fan account for the band reportedly stumbled upon the tracks on Tuesday (14.03.17) when they took to the social media site to share an image of the listing which shows 28-year-old Hayley and 27-year-old Taylor to be the primary writers.
The account captioned the tweet: “Paramore registered 12 new songs on ASCAP. Check out the list below. #5more (sic)”
The news comes after the ‘Misery Business’ hitmakers – who last released a studio album in 2013 with their self-titled venture – took to Instagram to explain that writing the follow-up has not been “an easy task”.
In a lengthy post, Hayley wrote: “about a year ago, we began writing & demoing songs for #5 / / / following up our self-titled album didn’t seem like it was going to be an easy task and, unsurprisingly, it was not. the problem about comparing yourself to… yourself… is that even though it’s better than looking elsewhere, you’re still looking in the wrong direction. for me, it wasn’t until i trusted that the past is finished with me that i could go looking for what’s next. our pasts can be a great comforter, or a horror movie; a noose, or a shield… but it is “past” for a reason. after a rest, we have to go looking for what’s supposed to come after that. – h (sic)”
The struggle for the ‘Still Into You’ rockers comes after their bassist Jeremy Davis quit the band in 2015, following the departure of brothers Zac and Josh Farro in 2010.
Earlier this year, Zac was confirmed to be returning to the band as the official drummer, after it was originally stated he would only be working on the drums for the recording of the album.

Ed Sheeran: I wasn't comfortable taking my shirt off

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran “wasn’t really comfortable” taking his shirt off for his ‘Shape of You’ music video.
The 26-year-old singer-songwriter has adopted a more health-conscious lifestyle over the last 12 months, which has led to a dramatic weight loss – but Ed admitted he still felt uncomfortable appearing bare-chested in the video.
He said: “My lifestyle changed. I realised I needed to start exercising, not necessarily to be slim but have a healthy heart. By exercising and not having such a wild lifestyle, you end up being a healthy human being.
“Having my shirt off in the video wasn’t my idea, though. It was the director’s and it kind of happened very last minute. I wasn’t really comfortable with it but he lit it in such a way that it ended up looking quite cool.”
Meanwhile, Ed also revealed how how his girlfriend Cherry Seaborn inspired his ballad ‘Perfect’, which appears on his new album ‘÷’.
He told Us Weekly: “‘Perfect’ was the first song that I wrote for the album. It was inspired by Cherry.
“The line that goes, ‘Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favourite song’ was about when we were in Ibiza listening to Future’s ‘March Madness’ literally not wearing any shoes and going mental on the lawn, which was quite a nice time.”
And thankfully for Ed, Cherry – who he has known since his school days – was a fan of the track.
He shared: “I didn’t see her first reaction to the song because she lived in New York at the time. So I just emailed it to her but she did really like it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Joni Sledge reportedly died from natural causes.
The Sister Sledge star – who passed away at her home on Friday (10.03.17) – will have her cause of death listed as “natural causes” after her doctor signed off on the cause of death.
Whilst it has not been made public what caused her tragic death, it is thought an autopsy won’t have to take place but it is thought it could be related to a pre-existing medical condition, TMZ reports.
It comes after the remaining members of Sister Sledge – Debbie and Kim – vowed to carry on performing without their late sister.
They said in a statement: “Sister Sledge will continue with their 2017 concert schedule. Sister Sledge – Debbie, Kim and the Sledge family would like to express our deepest gratitude to all who have extended their love and support during this difficult and challenging time of mourning, in the wake of the passing of our beloved sister Joni Sledge.
“Joni was a beautiful person, phenomenal artist and producer, a brilliant business woman and a powerhouse! One of her greatest loves and joys was performing live with her family. Hanson announce 25th anniversary tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Hanson have announced a 25th anniversary world tour.
The ‘MMMBop’ hitmakers – comprised of brothers Isaac, 36, Taylor, 34, and Zac, 31 – couldn’t let more than two decades as a band go by without something kind of celebration and just for their fans they’ve decided to hit the road for the special milestone.
They will kick off ‘The Middle of Everywhere 25th Anniversary Tour’ in May at Hop Jam Beer and Music Festival in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Taylor said: “Making music together for 25 years is a milestone that we had to acknowledge, and what a better way to do it than with an anniversary tour.
“This year is not only about the two decades of music, it’s about celebrating the incredible community of fans who have been with us, singing along year after year.”
The tour announcement comes after they revealed in December that they’d “just finished” working on a new festive LP following their success 20 years ago with ‘Snowed In’, which is slated for release in 2017.
The trio revealed tracks including ‘Winter Wonderland’ and ‘Blue Christmas’ will feature on their compilation.
They announced the news via social media, which saw them post links to their 1997 album, including never before seen footage of when they joined forces to record the popular record.
The group shared a string of tweets, which read: “20 years ago we made Snowed In. Just finished a new Christmas album for 2017 -Z https://youtu.be/ueRMiD-busY via @YouTube
“HANSON’s New Christmas Album: Ooh Christmas -Z https://youtu.be/1ZvBr3bJZgQ via @YouTube
“Live version of Winter Wonderland, studio version will be on the new Christmas album in 2017 -Z https://youtu.be/86kfYFNDtNA via @YouTube
“Just posted a new Christmas Song on http://Hanson.net part of the members Super Digital Pants album -Z #Merry #ChristmasBall (sic).”
Although Hanson have teased the album will be out next year, a set release date has yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, the brothers have admitted they would love ’24K magic’ hitmaker Bruno Mars to cover their 90s classic ‘MMMBop’ because they think he would do the song justice.
Speaking previously, Isaac said: “People can’t sing the chorus right. Most of the time they syncopate it wrong.
“But if Bruno Mars were interested, he’d probably find a way to kill it.”
Whilst Taylor added: “Someone needs to either make it totally their own in a genuinely unique way, or it needs to be a band that has a sensibility for old R&B. Fitz and the Tantrums could maybe do it.”

And while in the middle of the TV talent show, the former Pussycat Dolls star was reported to be recording a song with the Black Eyed Peas – Will.i.am, Fergie, apl.de.ap and Taboo – last year.

The 24-year-old singer-songwriter has recently been working with Camila in the recording studio and Charli has admitted to being surprised by the former Fifth Harmony star’s singing skills.
She said, according to The Sun newspaper: “She is so talented, I was floored.”
Camila, 20, has been working on her debut album since leaving the girl band in December 2016, and she has already turned to some of the biggest names in the music business for her solo record.
The Cuban-American singer has teamed up with the likes of Max Martin, who masterminded Taylor Swift’s hit singles ‘Bad Blood’ and ‘Shake It Off’, as well as Katy Perry’s ‘California Gurls’.
What’s more, Camila has been busy penning tracks with Major Lazer’s Diplo and Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, who has previously collaborated extensively with Adele.

The Who announce Las Vegas residency

OHMYGOSSIP — The Who have announced a six-show Las Vegas residency.
The British rockers – led by 71-year-old guitarist and songwriter Pete Townshend, and 73-year-old singer Roger Daltrey – took to Facebook late on Monday (13.03.17) to announce they are set to take to the stage at the famous Caesars Palace for a six-show residency which kicks off on July 29.
Posting on the social media site, the ‘Baba O’Riley’ hitmakers said: “Vegas! We’re coming to rock The Colosseum at Caesars Palace with a six-show residency July 29 – Aug 11. Tickets go on-sale Fri at 12pm. (sic)”
Although the residency is fairly short, The Guardian newspaper reports the six shows were originally described in a statement as a “first run”, meaning extra dates could be on the horizon.
The ‘My Generation’ rockers will become the first ever rock band to perform at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace music venue since it opened its doors in 2003, and will join the likes of Mariah Carey, Sir Rod Stewart, Sir Elton John, and Celine Dion, who have all performed residencies in the past.
Meanwhile, The Who are set to perform an acoustic version of their rock opera ‘Tommy’ in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust charity at two shows at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 30 March and 1 April, marking 28 years since the band last performed the tracks together.
Teenage Cancer Trust Honorary Patron Daltrey has been supporting the charity for over 22 years and he has played a major role in bringing the organization to the US.
Speaking about his work with the charity, Daltrey has said: “We’re had so many incredible musical moments at these shows over the years but these moments are made even more special by the wonderful young people I have met. They shouldn’t have to stop being teenagers just because they have cancer. They are young people first – cancer patients second. With their incredible vigor and positivity as inspiration, we aim to keep Teenage Cancer Trust leading the world in cancer care for this age group.”
Tickets for The Who’s Las Vegas residency go on sale on Friday March 17.
