“Yet it’s the most fun and most comfortable album we’ve ever made.
“This album, more than any other, is bringing the New Kids and the fans full circle.
“It’s about hope and possibilities and being ourselves.”
McIntyre added: “It says a lot about any band to make a record that has energy and passion and lightness and fun and depth – after almost 40 years together? It’s crazy.”

John Carpenter shares My Name Is Death video

OHMYGOSSIP — John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies have shared the first single from their upcoming album.
The trio have shared ‘My Name Is Death’ and released a video for their new single, which features the likes of Natalie Mering, Staz Lindes and Misha Lindes. The single will appear on their new album, ‘Lost Themes IV: Noir’.
Discussing the inspiration behind their new record, Daniel said: “Sandy [King, John’s wife and producer] had given John a book for Christmas, of pictures from noir films, all stills from that era.
“I was looking through it, and I thought, ‘I like that imagery, and what those titles make me think of. What if we loosely based it around that? What if the titles were of some of John’s favourite noir films?'”
The video for the new single has been likened to a miniature noir movie.
John, 76 – who wrote and directed ‘Halloween’, the iconic slasher film from 1978 – said: “Noir is a uniquely American genre born in post-war cinema.
“We grew up loving noir and were influenced by it for this new album. The video celebrates this style and our new song, ‘My Name is Death’.”
Meanwhile, John believes that each of them brings something distinctive to their new album.
He explained: “This is who we are, I think.
“Daniel’s the adventurer. He pushes for new sounds, new directions. He tries things that I haven’t thought of. He’s a lot more daring than I am, and he enriches the whole thing.
“Cody’s the musician. He’s a savant at music. He understands music. We depend on him to rescue us.”
Asked what he brings to the collaboration, John replied: “I’m the experience. I’ve done music for movies before.”
‘Lost Themes IV: Noir’ will be released on May 3.

Selena Gomez teases release date for new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Selena Gomez “hopes” to release a new album in 2024.
The 31-year-old star – who recently dropped new single ‘Love On’ after treating fans to ‘Single Soon’ over the summer – has given fans an update on her upcoming record.
Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine, Selena admitted while she “hopes” the new collection will be released this year, she’s not entirely sure just yet.
However, she did reflect on her recent singles, and insisted despite fan speculation that they could feature prominently on her next LP, they also stand alone.
She explained: “I guess it’s safe to say that ‘Single Soon’ and ‘Love On’ might not be really reflective of the project that I’m working on.
“They are in spirit, but I’m excited to explore more styles of music, and I think people will hopefully be surprised by the contrast.
“I like releasing songs that I love and I care about. I just released them into the world and later comes the full album.”
She noted that while “both of them stand alone in their messaging”, she still stands by “each of them, for sure”.
For ‘Love On’ – which she completed during an inspiring stint living in Paris for two months – she reunited with songwriter and frequent collaborator Julia Michaels, who she has been working with since 2015 album ‘Revival’.
She said: “I don’t think there’s a world where I would ever start to crack an album code without Julia.
“She and I have this soul connection where we are experiencing things in our lives at the same time sometimes.
“She’s really able to know my voice, and then we try to make songs that have a fun, unique twist to it.”
The ‘Only Murders In The Building’ star recently teased the likelihood of her next album being her last, but she’s taking a different stance now.
She added: “It’s not that it’s ‘no, never’ [to music], it’s more that I would like to explore that world [of film and TV] a bit more and have the time to actually do that.”

‘Watch this space!’ Kylie Minogue hints at new musical direction as she seeks collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Minogue has told fans to “watch this space” as she seeks out a new collaboration.
The 55-year-old pop star is keen to try something new with her next tune because she “likes all change”, and enjoys how each collaboration she’s ever done has taken her down a path the music legend “didn’t know [she’d] go”.
She told NME: “I just love collaboration and stepping into different [genres]. Being malleable and seeing what’s possible.
“I like all change. Who would’ve thought I’d do a murder ballad with Nick Cave [1996’s ‘Where The Wild Roses Grow’]?
“Or sing with Kermit the Frog?
“There are so many artists I love, and every collaboration takes you somewhere you didn’t know you’d go. So watch this space!”
Kylie recently hinted she might experiment with indie folk music for her next tune, and has admitted it is one of her “happy places”.
Speaking at Saturday’s (02.03.24) BRIT Awards with Mastercard, where she performed a medley of her greatest hits, she added: “I just listen to playlists of one song I like, which leads me down this trippy path.
“Who should I seek out tonight? Just putting it out there that indie pop folk is one of my happy places.”
Kylie also received the Global Icon Award at the ceremony, and became emotional when she accepted the accolade.
She told the crowd at London’s O2 Arena: “I really tried hard to think about something to say but I knew I couldn’t plan anything. I knew it would be all about the emotion.
“For some of you, it’s been a lifetime – 36 years and counting. The thing that really gets me is a love of music and connection with people. Wherever you are, watching at home … I have people in this room who I’ve worked with for years. There’s a part of me that’s still a 14-year-old girl in her room dreaming of making music and being in this industry. I met some of the BRIT students before and I feel you, I feel your promise and I’m so excited. Here I am with this so anything is possible. You have my heart forever and always, thank you so much.”

The Boss has announced he will release the career-spanning ‘Best Of Bruce Springsteen’ on April 19.
Fans can expect songs from 1973’s ‘Greeting From Asbury Park, NJ’ all the way to 2020’s ‘Letter To You’.
The physical version contains 18 tracks, and 31 songs make up the digital release.
Meanwhile, Springsteen and his E Street Band are set to tour the UK and Ireland this year, including two nights at London’s Wembley Stadium in July.
In other news, Springsteen is said to have been hired as a consultant on a feature film about the making of his 1982 album ‘Nebraska’.
The 74-year-old rock legend was reportedly hired by ‘Black Mass’ director Scott Cooper, who is probably best known for his 2009 film ‘Crazy Heart’ starring Jeff Bridges as a washed-up country singer.
Showbiz 411 reported the rumoured collaboration and added: “Austin Butler is a possibility (to play Bruce) but after playing Elvis Presley he might not be the right choice.”
Sources also said Cooper does not have Timothée Chalamet in mind to play Springsteen, as the actor is about to play Bob Dylan in another film.
‘Nebraska’ was lauded as an introspective turn for the ‘Born to Run’ rocker, and is said to have been inspired by a bout of depression.

Blackberry Smoke founding member Brit Turner dies aged 57

OHMYGOSSIP — Blackberry Smoke drummer Brit Turner has died aged 57.
The sticksman battled an aggressive form of brain tumour, glioblastoma, which he was diagnosed with in 2022.
In August of that year, he also suffered a heart attack at his home in Atlanta, and later had a stent fitted in his coronary artery before he was able to return to the stage.
Late last year, the band’s founding member underwent brain surgery but was replaced by Kent Aberle for their 2024 shows.
A social statement from the band – comprising Paul Jackson, Charlie Starr, Richard Turner, and Brandon Still – read: “It is with the deepest sorrow that we inform everyone that our brother Brit Turner has moved on from this life.
“If you had the privilege of knowing Brit on any level, you know he was the most caring, empathetic, driven and endearing person one could ever hope to meet. Brit was Blackberry Smoke’s True North, the compass that instituted the ideology that will continue to guide this band.”
The American country rock group also launched a fundraising page for Brit’s family.
They added: “Brit has battled glioblastoma since his diagnosis in the fall of 2022 and fought every day. We ask for prayers for his family and band brothers. More information on arrangements will be forthcoming. Thank you to everyone who has supported and been there for Brit and his family through this fight.
“If you would like to continue to support Brit’s family at this time, please visit the factrelief.org link in our bio.”
Tributes have flooded in for Brit, with Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash among those to pay their respects.
The axe-slayer, who shared a stage with Blackberry Smoke, posted to Instagram: “We lost a great guy and musician today, #BritTurner He will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to Brit’s family, friends and band mates. RIP.”
Country star Luke Combs wrote: “Damn. Can’t believe it. Brit was so awesome to me when he didn’t have to be. RIP.”
Black Stone Cherry posted: “We walked off stage last night to the devastating news of the passing of Brit Turner. BSC and Blackberry Smoke go way back to 2004 and this is a huge loss. We ask you to join us in sending so many prayers and so much love to Brit’s family, his band mates, and their families.”

Calvin Harris knocks back SIX raw egg yolks on flights to help cure jet lag

OHMYGOSSIP — Calvin Harris drinks six raw egg yolks to combat jet lag.
The jet-setting superstar DJ left an air hostess astounded when he cracked open the eggs mid-flight, but he claims they work wonders on boosting his energy levels when he’s extremely tired from travel.
Speaking on BBC Radio 2’s ‘The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show’, he said: “I was on a British Airways flight just a few weeks ago and the air hostess told me she had never seen anybody crack eggs and pour them into their mouth at their seat before.
“But that was me – that’s what I do. I had six. I like to get rid of the whites, so I just do the raw yolk. I find it gets rid of jet lag.”
Asked if he was pulling her leg, Calvin insisted: “I just stick them in my bag. I’m surprised they get through security because for me, that’s liquid. But it’s never been flagged!”
The ‘Miracle’ hitmaker – who just performed the mega-hit with Ellie Goulding at The BRIT Awards – previously shared how he felt re-energised again when he started eating bone marrow and liver again.
The 40-year-old studio wizard – who is married to BBC Radio 1 star Vick Hope – told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1: “You know, I lost the f*** you juice for a couple years. I did lose it.
“I don’t know how I got it back, I think it was when I started eating bone marrow again and liver. And it just all came rushing back as soon as I had those bones and got those amazing fats in my body. And then I felt energised enough through my primal diet.”

Ice Spice spills on the advice Taylor Swift gave her

OHMYGOSSIP — Ice Spice has revealed the advice Taylor Swift gave her.
The 24-year-old rapper – whose real name is Isis Naija Gaston – previously refused to spill on the exact advice she received from the 34-year-old pop superstar, however, she has now revealed that the ‘Anti-Hero’ hitmaker told her to just “keep making music and everything will be fine.”
Speaking to Billboard, she said: “When I was in the studio with Taylor, like, I’ll never forget.
“She told me, ‘No matter what, just keep making music and everything’s going to be fine.'”
She previously told The Guardian newspaper: “I was like: ‘You [mess] with my project?’ Like, what? She’s so sweet – I was so obsessed with how humble she was and willing to work. She gives me so much advice – we talk all the time and she’s so funny… But I can’t say what she be telling me.”
The pair teamed up on the remix of Taylor’s hit ‘Karma’ last May.
Ice Spice also revealed that her debut album, ‘Y2K’, is nearing completion.

She said: “She be telling me to learn from her mistakes – just watching her in general, if you pay close enough attention, you gonna see what you should do. I love to talk to her about things that I can’t talk about publicly – it just means so much to be able to have somebody like her.
“I’m just happy to be a part of such a big movement and to be able to contribute to the culture. I’m willing to try whatever, you know what I’m saying? I’m young – I’m gonna try everything.”

U2 close Sphere shows

OHMYGOSSIP — U2 closed their residency at Las Vegas’ Sphere by performing a virtual duet with Crowded House star Neil Finn.
The veteran rockers played 40 gigs at the futuristic venue with the run coming to an end on Saturday night (02.03.24) and they made the show special by performing a version of ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ with a recording of Finn after he emailed over vocals for them to use onstage.
Frontman Bono revealed they love the new version of the classic track and they are going to attempt to record it. He told the audience: “The other day we got a beautiful e-mail from Neil Finn, who wrote this bewilderingly beautiful song.
“Attached to the e-mail was a version of the song he said we could play whenever we wanted. It’s a new version that he did, and we’re going to try and record it.”
He added: “Neither party has spoken to our record label [about releasing this], so this might be the only recording that might ever exist. Please take your phones and send it to whoever loves freedom you know. Maybe send it to people that don’t [too]. There’s a few of them around.”
The band also thrilled fans by playing their 1983 track ’40’ for the first time since 2016 – revealing it had a special meaning for the final show of the residency.
Bono explained: “It’s been 40 days and 40 nights in the desert. What’s a fellow with a messianic complex going to do? Here’s a song we wrote in 40 minutes. I opened up the sacred text of the Psalm of David. I just kind of read it out. That was the lyric.”
The final show also included an appearance by their collaborator Daniel Lanois, who joined them onstage for a rendition of ‘One’.
Phish will be the next band to perform at Sphere with four booked for shows April 18, 19, 20 and 21 and they will be followed by Grateful Dead spin-off group Dead and Company who will take over for six weeks from May 16 through June 22.

Bring Me The Horizon’s delayed album is ‘nearly finished’

OHMYGOSSIP — Bring Me The Horizon’s delayed album, ‘POST HUMAN: NeX GEn’, is “nearly finished”.
The BRIT Award-winning rockers – who won their first-ever BRIT for Best Rock/Alternative Act at the weekend – were forced to push back the follow-up 2020’s ‘Post Human: Survival Horror’, which was originally set for release on September 15, 2023, due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
Then, in December, it was announced that programmer and keyboardist Jordan Fish – who was instrumental in their evolved sound – had departed the group.
In a new update, the ‘Kool-Aid’ hitmakers admit they don’t want to “rush” the record and have added some new songs.
Speaking to NME, Oli said: “It’s nearly finished, but it’s not finished.
“Every time we think we’ve got it; we get another song.
“It’s going to be right good though, it’s our best album ever… Worth the wait.”
Drummer Matt Nicholls continued: “It’s not quite finished yet, but it’s closer than it ever has been. We came back off tour and – we’ve got a studio in Sheffield – just cracked on. Got our heads down with everyone all together and we’re getting there. It’s this close…
“It is really good, and we’re really happy with it but it takes time, doesn’t it?
“You can’t rush these things.”
Announcing the delay in a statement on Instagram last August, Oli wrote: “So I got some bad news… nex gen won’t be coming September 15th.
“Unforeseen circumstances rendered us unable to complete the record to the standard we’d be happy with.”
He had been “hoping” the band would still be able to make the planned launch for the record, but he doesn’t want to put out the collection “until it’s nailed”.
Oli added: “I was hoping despite the setbacks we could pull it off in time for you guys but there’s still so many little details I want to be perfect and until it’s nailed I’m just not willing to give it to you guys.”
The singer/screamer insisted the release is “close” but stopped short of giving a firmer update, while saying “sorry and thanks for understanding”.
He continued: “We can’t give a new date just yet but just know it’s close… and I know you guys have been so patient but you just gotta be a lil more.. (sic)”

Charli XCX teases ‘gossipy and hardcore’ club album Brat

OHMYGOSSIP — Charli XCX has described her new album as “gossipy and hardcore”.
The ‘Von Dutch’ star is set to release her sixth studio album, ‘Brat’, this summer, and she has teased that it’s made for the girls who love to “party and sweat and rave”.
She told NME: “It’s kind of bitchy and gossipy and hardcore and very club feeling.
“It’s definitely one for the girls who like to party and sweat and rave.”
She continued: “I feel good about the music. Every artist says this about their new record, but I really do feel like this is my best music [yet]. I’m super excited.”
The follow-up to 2022’s ‘Crash’ also features a song about dealing with grief following the passing of her fellow pop pioneer and collaborator, SOPHIE, in 2021.
Charli told the outlet in a previous interview: “It’s probably not as simply put as [a tribute] but there is a song on the record which talks about my relationship with SOPHIE. Essentially, dealing with grief is what the song is about. It’s very real. All the lyrics are things that I would text my friends – the kind of dialogue and the voice of this record is very conversational and very diar-etic for sure.”
Meanwhile, Charli, whose partner is The 1975’s drummer George Daniel, says both her and the Matty Healy-led indie pop group have “really intense” fan bases.
She said: “Good question! I think the super fans of both parties really do have something quite intense about them.
“I think it would be a fight to the death to be honest, which I hope never happens…”

BLACKPINK’s Jennie and Brockhampton rapper Matt Champion preview duet

OHMYGOSSIP — BLACKPINK star Jennie and former Brockhampton member Matt Champion have seemingly teased a duet.
The 28-year-old K-pop star – whose music video for her debut solo single, ‘Solo’, recently hit a billion views, following in the footsteps of Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ – posted a preview clip of the song on her Instagram Story and tagged the 29-year-old rapper, but they’ve yet to confirm when it will be released.
They sing: “Slowly… trying upside down, you’re my escape… a reality / You know what you mean to me ’cause I’m leaning on my way making my heart cry / Nothing is love.”
The teaser comes after Jennie launched her own record label, Odd Atelier.
Jennie wanted to release her solo work independently.
She announced on her Instagram Story in December: “This year was filled with many accomplishments, and I’m so thankful for all the love I’ve received.
“I’m also about what’s to come, as I start my solo journey in 2024 with a company that I have established called OA. Please show lots of love for my new start with OA and of course BLACKPINK.”
On the label’s Instagram Page, she wrote: “OA, which stands for ODD ATELIER, is a space that aims to create new things that attract attention in a different way from what is usual or expected. It is a label founded by artist JENNIE in November 2023.”
Hip-Hop outfit Brockhampton announced their indefinite hiatus in 2022.

SZA set to headline BST Hyde Park 2024

OHMYGOSSIP — SZA is the latest headliner confirmed for American Express presents BST Hyde Park.
The ‘Kill Bill’ hitmaker will top the bill at the summer concert series in London on Saturday, June 29.
Among the special guests joining the Grammy winner are Sampha and Snoh Aalegra, with the full line-up to be confirmed in due course.
The chart-topping star’s return to the British capital comes after the superstar’s four back-to-back nights at London’s O2 Arena, as part of her global ‘SOS Tour,’ last summer.
Tickets for SZA’s date go on sale Friday 8 March, 10am GMT available at www.bst-hydepark.com.
Although she has not confirmed a release date yet, SZA’s ‘SOS’ reissue, ‘Lana’, which will feature new songs, is expected to drop sometime this year.
The ‘Snooze’ hitmaker originally set out for the collection to be a deluxe edition of her Grammy-winning album comprising songs that didn’t make the final tracklisting, but she later confirmed that it turned into a whole other album.
SZA – whose real name is Solána Imani Rowe – decided not to describe the songs on ‘Lana’ because it could all change direction before she’s finished.
She told The Hollywood Reporter recently: “You know, this round, I actually don’t want to say anything. Just because I feel like I do myself a disservice because you can shift the energy of the album. You got to let it form itself. Because I’m not really forming anything.
“I’m just kind of here while energy is forming and I’m just trying to allow it to do what it needs to do, and my voice just follows whatever the frequency is.
“So I feel like I want to allow it to finish shaping itself and form itself before I speak on it and possibly change the trajectory of what it could be. But I will say I’m in a beautiful space creatively and I feel just very new.”
Meanwhile, Stevie Nicks was also just confirmed to headline BST on July 12.
The Fleetwood Mac legend said: “Anything that draws me back to London – and therefore to England – fills my heart with joy.
“And to be able to visit and make music… is always a dream come true…”
Tickets for the ‘Edge of Seventeen’ hitmaker’s date go on sale on Wednesday 6 March, 10am GMT.
Kings Of Leon, Andrea Bocelli, Robbie Williams, Shania Twain, Kylie Minogue and Stray Kids are also set to headline their own dates.

Cardi B promises new album this year

OHMYGOSSIP — Cardi B has vowed to release her long-awaited new album this year.
The ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker has vowed not to let “anxiety” or other people’s opinions stop her from finally bringing out her long-awaited second record, the follow-up to her 2018 debut ‘Invasion of Privacy’.
After returning with new single ‘Like What (Freestyle)’ this week, Cardi took to her Instagram Story to share a short video in which she scrolled through numerous music files on her computer, some of which were dated as far back as 27 January 2023.
She said: “Look how long I’ve had this record for.
“I’m not letting my anxiety, I’m not letting what haters say, I’m not letting what fans say [stop me]. If I do a song, I’m gonna just drop it.
“Well I’ve got no choice because I’m dropping my album this year, so stay tuned for the announcement.”
In a caption to the clip, the ‘WAP’ hitmaker claimed to have “100 songs” recorded for the record.
She wrote: “January 2023 …. I really got like 100 songs [cry laughing emojis].”
Cardi’s update comes six months after insiders teased the 31-year-old rapper’s second album was “almost” ready for release and she was looking forward to launching a “new era” for her career.
In the wake of her collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion, ‘Bongos’, being released, a source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “It’s been a long time coming but Cardi is finally ready to kick off her new era.
“She has pulled out all the stops with the video, money wasn’t an object.
“Cardi has made sure it has been well worth the wait. The album is almost ready and will be out soon.”
