Girl Power! Madonna and Kylie Minogue unite to perform TWO duets in Los Angeles

OHMYGOSSIP — Madonna and Kylie Minogue wowed fans by performing Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive’ and ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ at The Queen of Pop’s Los Angeles concert on Thursday night (07.03.24).
The pop powerhouses came together to sing the girl power anthem in time for International Women’s Day and a cover of Australian pop princess’ Kylie’s noughties hit, much to the delight of gig-goers attending the ‘Celebration Tour’ stop at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.
The ‘Vogue’ hitmaker, 65, revealed her “very special guest” and then embraced the ‘Padam Padam’ hitmaker, 55.
Madonna said: “Now, this is what we call survival.
“It’s a privilege for me to be up here singing with you… God bless you, never give up.”
The pair had always wanted to perform together but just never got around to it – until now.
Kylie – who rocked a top emblazoned with Madonna’s name – shared a clip of herself in the audience on X (Twitter) and wrote: “Madonna It’s been a long time coming!!! Loved being with you!!!! Celebration Tour and it is now International Women’s Day …. Thank you and Love Love Love.”
The surprise duets come after Kylie recently said she would jump at the chance to collaborate with Madonna.
The ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ hitmaker says she is open to the idea and joked that they would have to give plenty of “warning” about the two icons being in the same building together.
Speaking to New York’s 1035KTU radio station, Kylie said of collaborating with Madonna: “I would. Of course, I would! She’s going on tour. I don’t have Madonna’s number but if I was in town and she was in town it would be amazing. The building would probably fall down. We’d need to send our warnings!”

Elton John kept cardboard cut-outs of husband and sons in dressing room

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Elton John used to have a cardboard cut-out of his husband and sons in his dressing room.
Country star Kacey Musgraves, 35, has claimed the 76-year-old music legend missed David Furnish and their boys, Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11 so much when he was touring that he kept the sweet memento backstage.
In an interview with The Times newspaper, she said: “I’ll never forget Elton playing in Nashville and getting to catch up with him in his dressing room after with all the Gucci and sunglasses lying around. And a big cardboard cut-out of his husband and kids.”
Elton wrapped up his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour and retired from performing after more than 50 years but insiders recently claimed that the ‘Candle in the Wind’ singer has been working on a “top secret” new album that could be released later this year.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “It’s all been very top secret, but Elton is back in the studio working on a new album.
“Time frames are always movable, but the fourth quarter has been pencilled in terms of a release date.
“He adores music and that will never change but the desire to be as busy as he was has waned.”
The insider added that Elton will continue with his other ventures but just wants to spend more time with his family after such a mammoth world tour.
The source added: “Elton will still have a Rocket Hour radio show on Apple Music and his finger is very much still on the pulse; he just wants to slow down a bit and spend the time with his family but the new album is coming.”
The ‘Crocodile Rock’ signer has released a total of 31 studio albums since beginning his career in the late 1960s and his latest record came in the form of ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ in 2021, on which he collaborated with Miley Cyrus, Stevie Wonder, Nicki Minaj and Brandi Carlile.
That same year, he duetted with Dua Lipa on ‘Cold Heart’ and wrapped up the year by joining Ed Sheeran for the festive track ‘Merry Christmas’ before collaborating with Britney Spears on ‘Hold Me Closer’ in 2022.
Elsewhere, Kacey – who releases her album ‘Deeper Well’ on March 15 – praised Beyonce for going country on her next record and pointed out that many before her have crossed over.
She said: “The more the merrier.
“Ray Charles made a country record and was friends with Willie Nelson, and Dolly Parton crossed over with 9 to 5.”

Norah Jones struggled with ‘scrutiny’ at height of career

OHMYGOSSIP — Norah Jones struggled with the “scrutiny” and “stress of “overthinking” during the height of her career.
The 44-year-old jazz star is back with her new album, ‘Visions’, and she has reflected on the pressure she was under when she released her 2002 debut album ‘Come Away With Me’, which peaked at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and received Grammy Awards for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.
She told Reader’s Digest: “It was definitely a crazy time. I look back on it and some of it was really fun, some of it wasn’t and some of it was just confusing. Playing music all over the world and travelling—that was really fun.
But there was a lot of stress, a lot of scrutiny and a lot of overthinking of something that was supposed to just be fun and from the heart.”
The nine-time Grammy winner is “glad” she’s not starting out now as it’s harder to sell albums.
Asked if she feels “free” to make the music she wants to make, she replied: “Yeah, I’ve always felt really free in that way and I’ve always felt really excited to try different things and collaborate with different people. The best part of this job is not knowing where it’s going to take you and then being surprised by yourself.
Norah continued: “Of course, the industry has changed a lot. Streaming and social media are the biggest changes.
I’m just glad that I sold albums when you still could. I feel really lucky about that because I think it’s hard for people to make money now. They have to be their own managers and PR machines. It’s a lot more work now.”

King Princess details meeting with ‘mean’ Christina Aguilera

OHMYGOSSIP — King Princess loved meeting “mean” Christina Aguilera.
The 25-year-old singer/songwriter (real name Mikaela Straus) recounted being in the studio with their friend Tao when Christina accidentally walked in on their session.
Straus told ‘Queer the Music’ podcast: “I love when a pop girl is mean. One time I was in the studio with my friend Tao and Christina Aguilera was working with Mark in the same studio next. And she walked in and she saw us and was like, ‘Oh,’ and she walked out and I was like, ‘Oh my God, that was Christina Aguilera’. And then I walked out to leave because it was clearly our time to go. She’s here, time to get out of the studio. It’s her time now.
“And Mark goes, ‘Did you meet Mikaela and Teo?’ And [Aguilera] goes, ‘Yeah, I saw the children.’ That meant a lot to me.”
Meanwhile, Straus previously praised Mark for respecting their perspective as a “young, queer woman”.
They told Grammy.com: “It’s like I think that he is really respectful of the fact that I have the perspective of a young, queer woman, and I’m a young person. He’s just always been like, ‘That’s [what] that people listen to.’ People listen to ‘1950’ because you feel like you’re in my shoes, and that’s a hard thing to do when you’re trying to appeal to a demographic of people who are completely different from you. He was just like, ‘I felt it.’ That meant the world to me, just hearing that my instincts about my production and sounds were right.
“Him and I have a really interesting relationship, because I think he probably thought that I was more of an artist and less of a producer. It turns out I’m probably more of a producer and less of an artist. I think my brain functions in the studio like a producer’s. It’s just like working with him, is like sometimes we butt heads, and sometimes we clash because I’m like an apprentice producer under him. That’s kind of like our relationship.
“He’s a master of sound. So, we get in these weird tiffs about how long he takes to get the perfect sound. I’m just like making everything so fast, and he’s like, ‘No. You have to wait, get everything right.’ Which I appreciate because it teaches me how to slow down and really take time to make something because then you get a record like his record that sounds tailored.”

Trent Reznor celebrating The Downward Spiral at 30

OHMYGOSSIP — Trent Reznor is celebrating ‘The Downward Spiral’ at 30.
The Nine Inch Nails record was released on March 8, 1994, and on its 30th anniversary, Trent revisited the album and shared his thoughts with fans.
He wrote: “SPENDING TOO MUCH TIME LOOKING BACKWARDS FEELS DANGEROUS TO ME, BUT THIS DAY ON THE CALENDAR CAUGHT MY ATTENTION. HAS IT REALLY BEEN THAT LONG, OLD FRIEND?
“I JUST SPENT AN HOUR LISTENING TO THIS TIME CAPSULE OF WHAT 28 YEAR OLD ME HAD TO SAY, AND IT STILL EXCITES ME AND BREAKS MY HEART.
“BE KIND TO YOURSELVES. HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON. TR 3.8.24.”
Meanwhile, last year, Reznor, 58, insisted he has no plans to tour again as he doesn’t want to be away from his family.
He told Rick Ross’ podcast ‘Tetragrammaton’: “I don’t want to be away from my kids. I don’t want to miss their lives to go do a thing that I’m grateful to be able to do, and I’m appreciative that you’re here to see it, but I’ve done it a lot, you know?”
And, surprisingly, he admitted he struggles with songwriting.
He said: “To me, the hardest thing is the songwriting. Having something to say, something to say with truth, that has reason to exist rather than just a thing.
“It really reminded me of the art of writing a well-crafted song — I teared up listening to a Dua Lipa track. Because it was just a really well-done piece of music, you know? It was clever. It felt good.
“It’s a difficult thing to do. I don’t know how to do that. When I’m trying to think of what to say, I’m saying it from the unvarnished me. And that requires me thinking about who I am and where my position is now and all of that together becomes something that feels the stakes are higher.”

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds unveil ‘joyous’ new album Wild Gold

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have unveiled their new album, ‘Wild God’, and shared the title track.
The 66-year-old star’s music can often be dark and melancholy, but fans can expect a “deeply and joyously infectious” batch of songs that reflect their happiness.
Cave said of the follow-up to 2019’s ‘Ghosteen’: “I hope the album has the effect on listeners that it’s had on me.
“It bursts out of the speaker, and I get swept up with it. It’s a complicated record, but it’s also deeply and joyously infectious. There is never a masterplan when we make a record. The records rather reflect back the emotional state of the writers and musicians who played them. Listening to this, I don’t know, it seems we’re happy.”
A press release read: “Across ten tracks, the band dance between convention and experimentation, taking left-turns and detours that heighten the rich imagery and emotion in Cave’s soul-stirring narratives. It is the sound of a group emboldened by re-connection and taking flight. There are moments that touch fondly upon the Bad Seeds’ past but they are fleeting, and serve only to imbue the relentless and restless forward motion of the band.”
As well as the Bad Seeds, Colin Greenwood plays bass and Luis Almau the nylon string guitar and acoustic guitar.
Nick said: “Wild God…there’s no [redacted] around with this record. When it hits, it hits. It lifts you. It moves you. I love that about it.”
‘Wild God’ will be released on Bad Seed in partnership with Play It Again Sam on streaming, CD, and standard and limited edition vinyl on August 30.

The track listing is:
1. ‘Song of the Lake’
2. ‘Wild God’
3. ‘Frogs’
4. ‘Joy’
5. ‘Final Rescue Attempt’
6. ‘Conversion’
7. ‘Cinnamon Horses’
8. ‘Long Dark Night’
9. ‘O Wow O Wow (How Wonderful She Is)’

Jack Antanoff wonders ‘how much longer’ he will find ‘the magic’ with Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey

OHMYGOSSIP — Jack Antonoff often wonders “how much longer” he can still find the “magic” with Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey.
The songwriter, producer and musician has noticed the special bond he has with bond singers, but he finds himself expecting it to diminish as time goes on.
He told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1: “It’s almost like, the more we do, the less I expect it.
“Because I often think to myself, well, how much longer could we really keep having this spark?
“And I’m just grateful that it’s there, and I don’t know where it comes from or where it goes, but the one thing that I’ve noticed is that anyone who claims to know where it comes from and where it goes burns out pretty quick.”
He insisted there is “no reason” for the magic to “keeping coming” each time.
He said: “Every time we do something new, I joke, ‘I guess we still got it,’ because there’s no reason for it to keep coming the way it does. “There’s a lot of magic there. I feel that way with Taylor, I feel that way with Lana.”
Jack co-wrote most of the songs for Lana’s 2019 album ‘Norman F****** Rockwell’, and has kept up that partnership on 2021’s ‘Chemtrails Over the Country Club’ and last year’s LP ‘Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd’.
With Taylor, their working relationship goes back to 2013 when he wrote and produced her track ‘Sweeter Than Fiction’ with her for the movie ‘One Chance’.
He worked on three songs with her for her album ‘1989’ the following year, and that partnership continued with ‘Reputation’ (2017), ‘Lover’ (2019), ‘Folklore’ and ‘Evermore’ in 2020 and 2022’s ‘Midnights’.
He also worked as a producer on the Taylor’s Versions of ‘Fearless’, ‘Red’, ‘Speak Now’ and ‘1989’.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lindsay Lohan would make a music comeback – but to support her younger sister, Aliana Lohan.
The ‘Mean Girls’ star’s debut single, ‘Rumors’, turns 20 in September, and although the 37-year-old actress-and-singer has no plans to release new solo music anytime soon, she would love to record a duet with her 30-year-old sibling.
Asked if she will ever revisit her music career, she replied to ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “Um, we’ll see, you never know.”
She continued: “I think if I did, It would be doing a song with my sister because that’s the path she is on and I want to support that.
“So maybe we would do something together, and that’s when it would happen.”
Lindsay stars in the Netflix movie ‘Irish Wish’, which features her brother Cody Lohan, 27, and the latter joked that he could do some ad-libs for his sisters during their red carpet interview.
In 2021, Lindsay entered the NFT (non-fungible token) market with her single ‘Lullaby’, which she made available via the FansForever digital platform.
Those who accessed the song were able to hear Lindsay’s first new music since her 2020 single ‘Back to Me’.
Meanwhile, Lindsay delighted fans by confirming plans for ‘Freaky Friday 2’.
The ‘Parent Trap’ star revealed a highly anticipated sequel is in the pipeline for the iconic 2003 body swap comedy, and she’s “excited” to reunite with Jamie Lee Curtis on the project.
She told People magazine the movie is “in the process”, adding: “[I’m] just excited to work with Jamie again and see how much further we can take it.
“Because we talk almost every other day in general, so I think we’re going to have a lot of fun with this.”
She also addressed the news on SiriusXM’s ‘Andy Cohen Live’ on Monday (04.03.24), noting that “it is” in the works.
However, she insisted: “I don’t want to say too much.”
It sounds like it’s still early days, but a script is reportedly being handled by rising screenwriter Elyse Hollander.
Lindsay made her big-time return to the movie business in 2022, when she starred in the Netflix film ‘Falling for Christmas’.
She also made a cameo appearance in the recent ‘Mean Girls’ musical revival.

Kesha weeps as she celebrates regaining ownership of her voice by previewing new music

OHMYGOSSIP — Kesha wept as she played a clip of her new song on Instagram Live.
The 37-year-old was streaming with happy tears as she celebrated “owning her voice” for the first time in 19 years on Wednesday (06.03.24).
The ‘Tik Tok’ hitmaker – who released the album ‘Gag Order’ last year – was seen wiping away her tears as she treated fans to a preview of the unnamed new track.
Kesha – who has stripped bare to express her freedom in a series of photographs – has also sent fans to the website keshaiswaitingforyou.com to sign up for information regarding her new era.
She also posted to her Instagram Story: “March 6, 2024.
“First day I’ve owned my voice in 19 years.”
Kesha departed Dr Luke’s Kemosabe – which is distributed by RCA Records – in December, six months after her long-running legal battle with the producer came to an end and she is excited about her “brand new and very exciting chapter”.
She told V magazine: “There is a day – although I won’t say the day – but there is a day marked on my calendar when I am free to release music.”
Asked what she wants to tell her fans, she added: “So just know that she is out here in the woods writing and singing till four in the morning, ferociously. I am being a feral wild woman out here. So just know that.”
The ‘Praying’ hitmaker insisted she is in a good place in her life right now.
She said: “I’ll say this: I’ve never felt happier, more excited, more at peace and had such a purpose in my entire life. And I feel like I have earned the right to be this happy for sure. So letting that be…I am loving every minute of what feels like a brand-new and very exciting chapter.”
Kesha and music producer Dr. Luke, 50, had been locked in a legal dispute for years after she filed a lawsuit accusing him of drugging and raping her after a party in 2005, prompting the music executive – who denied the allegation – to file a defamation case.
But in June last year, they settled out of court after nearly 10 years, just weeks before they were set to go to trial.
The pair said in a joint statement shared on Kesha’s Instagram stories: “Kesha and Dr Luke have agreed to a resolution of the lawsuit, and have agreed to issue and post a joint statement regarding that resolution.”
It went on to give two separate statements from the pair.
Kesha, previously known as Ke$ha, said: “Only God knows what happened that night. As I have always said, I cannot recount everything that happened.
“I am looking forward to closing the door on this chapter of my life and beginning a new one.
“I wish nothing but peace to all parties involved.”
Dr. Luke, whose real name is Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald, maintained his innocence in his statement below Kesha’s message.

Jade Thirlwall recorded ‘cool music’ with Jax Jones that he hopes will see light of day

OHMYGOSSIP — Jade Thirlwall is “sitting on a good song” she worked on with Jax Jones.
The Little Mix star hit the studio with the producer and DJ in 2022, and the ‘Never Be Lonely’ star says the pair made some “cool music” together that he hopes could be released one day.
He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “It’s a good song. If she wants to use it, it’s there.
“Miley Cyrus and Pharrell Williams released Doctor, which was recorded years ago, so you never really know what will happen.
“But I know I have written some cool music with Jade, and we are still cool and we vibe.”
Last year, Jade was said to have penned songs with Bastille’s Dan Smith.
The pair are believed to have formed a songwriting partnership after attending a writers retreat together, and they allegedly came up with a number of tracks which have been offered out to other artists.
A source told The Sun at the time: “Jade and Dan have met each other a few times over the years when they’ve been at the same events.
“But they weren’t really mates until they ended up on this retreat together with a load of other songwriters and they teamed up to come up with ideas.
“They hit it off and produced some strong tracks. Some of them have already been offered to other artists, so it’s only a matter of time before they get snapped up.”
Jade is said to be working on her debut solo album after Little Mix went on hiatus while Dan is believed to be busy with Bastille’s next record, and the source suggested some of the songs they have written together could end up being used.
The insider added: “They have both been busy writing for their own projects too, with Jade making her debut solo album and Dan shaping Bastille’s fifth LP, so they could well pop up with those records too.”

Jay Weinberg joins Suicidal Tendencies

OHMYGOSSIP — Former Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg has joined Suicidal Tendencies.
The 33-year-old musician was left “heartbroken and blindsided” when he was axed from the band last year after almost a decade behind the drums, but he’s now moving on with his music career by joining the thrash group which also includes Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman and Tye Trujillo – who is the son of Metallica bassist Rob Trujillo.
Weinberg announced the news in a post on Instagram, writing: “When I think of the culture and community of heavy music that I’ve loved and considered my creative home for 20 years, I think of Suicidal Tendencies: a foundational pillar and source of inspiration ever since I fell in love with punk, metal, and hardcore.
“Having toured and played shows together all over the world, I’ve been so fortunate to become friends with my musical heroes who have been a part of this band’s incredible history.
“It’s an absolute honour and privilege to play with Suicidal Tendencies, and I can’t wait to start this incredibly exciting new chapter in just one week. See you all in the pit!”
He captioned the post: “You can’t bring me down!”
Weinberg – who is the son of Bruce Springsteen’s drummer Max Weinberg – joined Slipknot in 2014 after taking over from former member Joey Jordison, but his exit was confirmed in November when the band released a statement telling fans he was no longer part of the line-up.
The musician later admitted he had no idea he was about to lose his job, writing in a post on Instagram: “I was heartbroken and blindsided to receive the phone call that I did on the morning of November 5th; the news of which, most of you learned shortly after …
“This is not the ending to the journey I’d dreamt of, and committed myself to seeing through – not by a long shot. But, despite the confusion and sadness, there is something that’s provided an equal amount of comfort. For many of you reading this: 10 years ago, we weren’t yet acquainted. And now, we are. For that, I’m thankful in ways I’ll never be able to fully express.
“I love playing the drums. I’ll always love playing the drums. I’ll always have a passion for music, art, and creative expression. Nothing will ever change that.” The remaining members of Slipknot previously confirmed Jay’s departure in a statement, which read: “We would like to thank Jay Weinberg for his dedication and passion over the past ten years.
“No one can ever replace Joey Jordison’s original sound, style or energy, but Jay honoured Joey’s parts and contributed to the last three albums and we, the band, and the fans appreciate it …
“Slipknot is intent on evolving. The band has decided to make a creative decision and to part ways with Jay. We wish Jay all the best and are very excited for what the future holds.”

He said in the Instagram clip: “I’m a rock guitar player that’s firmly rooted in blues.
“Blues guitar is really something that I got turned on to when I was a kid. If you were to listen to anything that I do, you can see how big the blues influence is, and I’d always thought that I’d want to record a record at some point. And we got together and did it.”

Zayn Malik shares preview for ‘raw’, self-penned new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Zayn Malik has wiped his social media pages clean, leaving only a teaser of what to expect from his upcoming solo album.
The former One Direction star has revealed fans can expect a deeply personal collection of songs penned entirely by himself.
In a teaser clip, he shared: “I think the intention behind this album fully is for the listener to get more insight on me [personally] as a human being.
“My ambitions, my fears…and for them to have a connection with that.
And that’s why it’s so raw, you know, it’s just me writing this.
“I didn’t want anyone else to be in between me and the music, and the music and the people listening to it.”
A little preview of a soulful new song was played at the end, with Zayn singing: “If I told you I loved you, would you say that it’s f***** up.”
Zayn is working with country music producer Dave Cobb on his upcoming album.
It was suggested that Zayn could jump on the country bandwagon like Beyonce after the studio wizard behind his follow-up to 2021’s ‘Nobody Is Listening’ spilled on working with the star.
The producer told Rolling Stone: “What got me about Zayn was his voice, you can hear love, loss, pain, triumph and humanity in it. I feel as if this record is removing the glass from his spirit directly to his fans.
“Zayn has really created his own universe on this record, he really has no fear and is speaking straight from his soul.”
