Louis Tomlinson praises ‘legend’ Steve Aoki after TCAs win

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Tomlinson praised Steve Aoki as a “legend” after the pair won a Teen Choice Award on Sunday (13.08.17).
One Direction singer / songwriter Louis and EDM DJ Steve won the Choice Music Collaboration for their song ‘Just Hold On’ and Louis paid tribute to his pal in an emotional Instagram video after the ceremony.
He said: “Me and Steve won the best collaboration award and that’s unbelievable. I just want to thank everyone for their continued support. And obviously a massive thanks to Steve, what a legend you are. Thank you very much.”
Louis, 25, also closed the show, taking to the stage with Bebe Rexha to perform their single ‘Just Hold On’ and he praised fans for all of their support.
Louis said: “That was absolutely amazing, the crowd were great, people were great so thanks so much.”
Immediately after his performance, Louis tweeted fans to thank them and explained he would record a video as soon as possible.
He wrote: “Got 1% battery but that was soooo sick. Gonna put up a video message soon saying thanks, just gonna charge my phone! Love you all (sic).”
He later added: “Thank you so much again! You’re all amazing.”
As One Direction are currently on hiatus, Louis is preparing to release his debut solo album next year.
He recently said: “I’ll probably do one, maybe two more singles and then the album. But the album in general is just very honest and conversational. In the early sessions I’ve had, a lot of songwriters love to write about fairytales and situations that just don’t really feel like the bands that I grew up listening to. They speak very matter-of-fact and honest, and I think that’s cool and that’s interesting. Although the fans know loads about me, they’ll definitely learn a bit more after the album.”

Rachel Stevens wants S Club 20-year reunion

OHMYGOSSIP — Rachel Stevens expects S Club 7 to have a 20-year reunion.
The 39-year-old singer, who went on to have a successful solo career after the band split in 2003, knows fans want the ‘Bring It All Back’ hitmakers to mark the two decades since their 1998 formation next year, so will be getting together with her former bandmates to discuss their options soon.
In an interview with The Sun newspaper, Rachel said: “The hardcore fans want a 20-year reunion and I could see that happening. It will be something we’ll have to talk about.”
The ‘Don’t Stop Moving’ group – which also features Hannah Spearritt, Paul Cattermole, Tina Barrett, Jo O’Meara, Bradley McIntosh and Jon Lee – all reunited in 2014 for Children In Need and an arena tour.
Speaking about that reunion, Rachel said: “It was so fun when we did the reunion tour a few years ago, it was absolutely brilliant and it was so lovely to see everyone again. Nostalgia is a big thing to people and we really felt that. It was perfect for what we wanted to get out of it for the fans.”
S Club 7 scored four number one singles, sold more than 13 million albums worldwide and had a hit TV show.
And 2018 is a big milestone for Rachel too because she turns 40, but the ‘Sweet Dreams My L.A. Ex’ singer – who has daughters Amelie, six, and Minnie, three, with husband Alex Bourne – insists she doesn’t feel her age, though getting older has made her more confident.
She added: “It’s lovely that people still view me as a sex symbol.
“But I definitely feel like I’ve got more confident and sexier as I’ve got older.
“Your body is always changing, which is great, but you know more what you want out of life, too, and that inner confidence gives you more sexiness. It makes you feel more confident and that’s where it comes from. I can’t believe I’ll be 40 next year, I don’t feel it.”
Meanwhile, S Club 7 fans can catch Rachel cooking up a storm on ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ when it starts later this summer.

Fifth Harmony urge fans ‘not to grow up too quickly’

OHMYGOSSIP — Fifth Harmony have urged their young fans not to “grow up too quickly”.
The chart-topping girl group – which features Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui – have implored their fans to embrace their youth and resist the temptation to behave in a way that’s unnatural to them.
Asked what she’d advise the band’s fans, Ally said: “Definitely love yourself. Take in every moment, don’t try to grow up too quickly.”
Dinah, on the other hand, revealed she’s currently guiding her teenage sister through a particularly troublesome period in her life.
The 20-year-old star told ‘Entertainment Tonight’: “I have like a teenage sister right now, and she’s going through a rough time of like, she’s all about [her] figure right now, because that’s what you see.
“I’m like trying to calm her down like, ‘Regina, just live in your teenage years. Like, live in he moment. That’s the last thing you should be worried about right now. You should be living your youth.'”
Normani echoed her bandmate’s sentiment, and also revealed she already feels old at the age of 21.
She explained: “I would definitely say to be present. Because I look back now, and I’m like, ‘Man, I just wanted to be 21 so bad, or 18.’ And now that I’m actually 21, I’m like, ‘Man, I feel old.’
“I feel like time is not being kind to me, so I would definitely say be present.”
Meanwhile, Fifth Harmony recently claimed their new album is their most “raw” yet.
The group are poised to release their first LP since the departure of Camila Cabello in December 2016, and have revealed the lyrics are all based on their own real-life experiences.
Normani previously said: “We wanted to be raw and draw from our experiences.
“Every time we stepped into the booth it was something that we believed in, not something we were forced to sing. This is all us.”

Louis Tomlinson planning album after 2 more singles

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Tomlinson is planning to release “two more singles” before his first solo album.
The 25-year-old singer has admitted he is hoping to release his debut record soon and insists fans will “definitely learn a bit more” about him when his album drops, but it certainly won’t be all about “fairytales”.
Asked if he has an album in the pipeline, he said: “I’ll probably do one, maybe two more singles and then the album. But the album in general is just very honest and conversational. In the early sessions I’ve had, a lot of songwriters love to write about fairytales and situations that just don’t really feel like the bands that I grew up listening to.
“They speak very matter-of-fact and honest, and I think that’s cool and that’s interesting. Although the fans know loads about me, they’ll definitely learn a bit more after the album.”
Louis recently teamed up with Bebe Rexha for his second solo single, ‘Back To You’, but insists his next release, which he already has in place, will sound more like him “lyrically”.
He said: “I think my next single will sound the most like me lyrically. I suppose I’m constantly looking at the results of the [current] single, but for me I am really excited to release that one because it feels the more like me lyrically.
“I think we do have the next single, it’s just working out when the best time to release that is and that’s depending on how this single goes.”
Louis recently admitted he felt “forgettable, to a certain degree” when he was part of One Direction alongside Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Niall Horan, but he is now growing in confidence as a solo singer.
He added to Billboard: “I just feel like I’m getting stronger and more confident with each single, and I’m definitely still learning as a songwriter and an artist on my own as well. It’s exciting for me, and to have the support of the fans is always amazing – I definitely feel like they’ve got my back.”

Fifth Harmony’s raw record

OHMYGOSSIP — Fifth Harmony’s new album is their most “raw” yet.
The American girl group – which features Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui – are poised to release their first LP since the departure of Camila Cabello in December 2016, and have promised the lyrics are all based on their own experiences and they truly “believe” in the songs.
Normani told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: “We wanted to be raw and draw from our experiences.
“Every time we stepped into the booth it was something that we believed in, not something we were forced to sing. This is all us.”
Two of the songs are based on their relationships but Lauren insists they haven’t drawn reference from her rumoured romance with Ty Dolla $ign.
She said: “No ma’am. Those were songs we all related to at some point, not necessarily now.
“We want people to listen to it and feel the love.”
And one track, ‘Bridges’, takes a swipe at US president Donald Trump and his controversial plans to build a border wall with Mexico as the quartet sing: “We build bridges, not walls.”
The song means a lot to the group.
Normani said: “Bridges is our most personal song, because it’s a commentary on what’s going on in the world right now.”
Ally recently explained why the new record feels more personal to them than their two previous albums, ‘Reflection’ and ‘7/27’.
She said: “It’s cool because for this record we were able to be in pairs for the most part to write the songs.
“For example, Normani and I would go in to [the studio] and that’s how we created ‘Messy’ … so you kind of have that extra personal attachment when it’s coming from you.”

Rita Ora thanks Ed Sheeran

OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Ora has thanked Ed Sheeran for helping her tell her “stories”.
The 26-year-old singer hasn’t released an album for five years because of a lengthy dispute with her old record label, Roc Nation, and she has praised the ‘Castle on the Hill’ hitmaker for supporting her and co-writing and lending backing vocals to her comeback single, ‘Your Song’.
She said: “Ed is one of my really good friends, I’ve known him for about five years now and that song actually happened towards the end [of recording].
“I think people were excited when they heard I was working on stuff again and I just needed to find a team of people who I could be myself with and open up to, people I could tell my stories…
“I am really grateful for the support. It’s such a different time for me now.”
The ‘How We Do’ singer had a high-profile relationship with Calvin Harris from April 2014 to June 2015 that ended in a break up so bitter, he blocked her from performing tracks he’d written.
However, despite the fascination surrounding their relationship, Rita – who has also dated Richard Hilfiger and Rob Kardashian – insisted gossip about her personal life was off limits when it came to writing her new material.
She told Australia’s Sunday Telegraph newspaper: “I didn’t want to talk about the tabloids or the gossip stuff when it came to writing songs. There’s maybe one song that addresses the past … but I am more for being positive and moving forward.
“At the beginning, I was more sensitive to [trolling] but as you get used to it, it’s not so much you become numb to it as you know yourself more so it means less.
“The people around you know what’s true. And there is so much of that stuff out there, people get bored with it.”

Wyclef Jean’s life saved by music

OHMYGOSSIP — Wyclef Jean believes music saved his life.
The ‘Gone Till November’ singer – who moved from his native Haiti to Brooklyn, New York, when he was 13 – found his favourite songs gave him a “refuge” and allowed him to retreat from scary situations when he was growing up.
He said: “Music can save your life. Literally.
“When I first started to play music it saved my life. When you’re in these communities as a teenager, music gave me a refuge.
“I was finding myself through poetry, through sounds and that distracted me from being on the block.
“At times when a shooting was going on, I missed it by 15 minutes because I’d decided to practise this Jimi Hendrix solo.”
For Wyclef, when it comes to making music, he always strives to create a “cultural phenomenon”.
He told Q magazine: “When I do music, I’ll be like, ‘In 10,000 years will people still like this song?’ People say, ‘What’s bigger than a hit?’ I say, ‘A cultural phenomenon’. When you create that, it don’t have no colour, it don’t have no creed, no nothing. Everyone in the country is just singing it.”
And the former Fugees star insists money isn’t important.
He said: “Money isn’t everything. What’s the value of life? Is it billions of dollars?
“You can have someone who is working a nine to five job, they come home, they’re happy as hell. The true essence of life is family and friends.”

Stevie Nicks gushes over Harry Styles

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Styles has “the world at his fingertips”, according to Stevie Nicks.
The 69-year-old Fleetwood Mac star is good friends with the ‘Sign of the Times’ singer and believes he has the talent to sustain a long-lasting career in both music and movies.
Speaking to Mike Hosking on New Zealand’s Newstalk ZB, she said: “I’m a big fan of Harry’s, and I think he’s a fan of me.
“I believe in Harry Styles. I think he’s really good. I think he’s funny, I think he’s a good actor. I think he has the world at his fingertips and he’s going in the right way. And I’m really happy for him and I’m glad to be a part of that.”
Stevie performed on stage with Harry during his solo show at The Troubadour in Los Angeles earlier this year and she believes he asked her to join him for some moral support.
She explained: “He called and asked me if I would come and sing at the Troubadour with him. And I’m like, sure I will, but a) sing what? and b) why are you asking me? I know we’re friends and everything… And he said, ‘because I’m doing this alone and I would just love it if you would come and do this with me’. And I knew what he was saying, it’s like, ‘it would make me feel better and stronger.'”
Stevie also repeated her previous assertions that her Fleetwood Mac bandmate has “adopted” One Direction singer Harry, 23.
She said: “[Mick Fleetwood] has always wanted a son, and I think he adopted Harry. It’s Harry Styles-Fleetwood now.”

Brandon Flowers’ kids hadn’t seen The Killers until their Hyde Park show

OHMYGOSSIP — Brandon Flowers’ children had never seen The Killers perform until last month.
The 36-year-old frontman has three sons, Ammon, nine, Gunnar, seven, and six-year-old Henry with wife Tana, and though the trio are well aware of their dad’s work, they are usually in bed by the time his gigs take place.
However, jet lag had left their schedule in chaos when the group performed in London’s Hyde Park recently, so the boys were able to stay up and see their dad in action.
Brandon said: “It was the first Killers concert for any of them, even my nine year old. He’s been to some solo gigs and seen us do soundchecks, but it’s always too late.
“You play at 9pm and they’re in bed but they were screwed up on time in the UK so they were staying up later and got to see their first Killers gig.
“They were into it, they know the words to a couple of songs.
“Gunnar fell asleep by the end of the gig, but the other guys held on. They were pretty positive.
“Henry told me, ‘I know I’ve told you this already, Dad, but you did a really good job on your gig.’ He’s sweet.”
Brandon and his bandmates had been feeling “nervous” about the concert because the huge show came so early in their touring schedule.
He said: “I was a bit nervous. We’d known about this gig for a few months. We’ve played big gigs but usually they are at the tail-end or right in the middle of a tour when we’re a very well-oiled machine.
“And we’ve been old, basically. We played the ‘Sam’s Town’ anniversary in October and had eight gigs before this, but it’s not the same.”
And the ‘Mr. Brightside’ group aren’t used to playing in the daylight, which also added to their concerns.
Brandon told Q magazine: “We’re spoiled because we usually play in the dark when people let their guards down and lose their inhibitions.
“I knew that half the gig was going to be in daylight and I was a little bit anxious about how the crowd were going to respond.
“But it didn’t matter, they were with us from the beginning.”

Liam Gallagher: Dave Grohl’s ruined it for musicians

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher thinks Dave Grohl has “ruined it” for musicians.
The 44-year-old singer believes the Foo Fighters frontman’s professionalism and refusal to take time off when he broke his leg after falling off stage two years ago has made it harder for other singers to postpone shows if they are not feeling up to performing.
He said: “Ruined it for all of us. Broke his leg and still toured. Who does that? Now if I have a ‘cold’ I can’t cancel because I’ll look like a wuss.”
But the ‘Wall of Glass’ hitmaker feels relieved he has always been a static frontman as he thinks Sir Mick Jagger will have to put on an energetic show whenever the Rolling Stones perform because that’s what fans expect.
He said: “Fair play to ol’ dinosaur hips, but I’m not that mad. I’m anti-entertainment. Poor sod, he’s got to dance until he’s 108.”
One singer who Liam does admire is The Who’s Roger Daltrey.
He said: “Top frontman. Hard as f***ing metal. I reckon he was the first lad in a band.”
But he was left decidedly unimpressed by U2 singer Bono.
He told GQ magazine: “I had the Bono chat, yeah. Wish I’d had an out of body experience instead. Not in my top 50.”
The ‘Live Forever’ singer has slammed Bono a number of times recently, as U2 have recently been supported by his brother and former Oasis bandmate Noel Gallagher.
He said recently: “I dunno what planet they’re on, but they’re not on mine. They’re in a bubble. I’m walking the streets keeping it real. The likes of U2, when they call themselves a rock ‘n’ roll band I find that highly insulting.
“They play guitar music and they hit the drums and all that but they’re not a rock ‘n’ roll band. They’re a band that use guitars. They haven’t done anything rock ‘n’ roll in their life.”

Fiona Apple sends support to Sinead O’Connor

OHMYGOSSIP — Fiona Apple has shared a supportive video message for Sinead O’Connor.
Just days after the 50-year-old singer broke down in tears in an emotional video shared on her Facebook page, in which she admitted she is suicidal, Fiona, 39, shared her own video message in which she sent her support to Sinead.
She said: “I want you to know that you are my hero as well. I just saw the video of you and I don’t want you to feel like that. I don’t want you to feel like that. You’ve given so much. And I wish I could be there. I wish I could be of some use to you… I’m your friend, that’s all I want to say, and you’re my hero.”
Singer-songwriter Fiona added a video of O’Connor’s performance at the 1989 Grammy Awards.
Fiona’s message came just days after Sinead sparked fears for her life after admitting three mental illnesses have made her “suicidal” and her doctor is the only thing “keeping [her] alive”.
In the 12-minute clip, which she captioned “#OneOfMillions”, she said: “I am now living in a Travelodge motel in the a**e end of New Jersey, I’ve got a f***ing kidney stone.
“I’m all by myself. And there’s absolutely nobody in my life except my doctor, my psychiatrist – the sweetest man on earth, who says I’m his hero – and that’s about the only f***ing thing keeping me alive at the moment … and that’s kind of pathetic.
“I want everyone to know what it’s like, that’s why I’m making this video.
“Mental illness, it’s like drugs, it doesn’t give a s**t who you are, and equally what’s worse, it’s the stigma, it doesn’t give a s**t who you are.
“Suddenly all the people who are supposed to be loving you and taking care of you are treating you like s**t. It’s like a witch hunt.
“Three f***ing illnesses made me suicidal … my whole life is revolving around just not dying.
“And I’m not going to die, I’m not going to die but still this is no way for people to be living.”
Sinead – who has four children from different relationships – revealed on Facebook in 2015 she had taken an overdose at a hotel in Ireland but she was later found safe.

Green Day split from manager

OHMYGOSSIP — Green Day have reportedly brought an end to their 21-year relationship with longtime manager Pat Magnarella.
The ‘Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)’ punk rockers first started working with him in 1996 after the release of their now-iconic album ‘Dookie’, and he was at the helm to oversee the band’s career as they went from strength to strength with hit singles like ‘American Idiot’, ‘Holiday’, ‘Warning’ and ‘Revolution Radio’.
According to Variety, the trio – made up of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool – are expected to sign with Jonathan Daniel at Crush Music, who looks after huge artists such as Lorde, Fall Out Boy and Sia.
Mangarella also worked with Green Day as a producer on many of their side projects, including the official cast album for the ‘American Idiot’ musical.
The management boss – who has worked with the likes of Goo Goo Dolls, All-American Rejects and AFI – also ran Billie Joe’s own independent record label Adeline Records.
The website noted that he chose not to comment on the reports.
Daniel established Crush in 2003 and in the last 14 years the roster has expanded to include the likes of Courtney Love, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, Panic! at the Disco and many more.
Among them is Weezer, who were represented by Mangarella in the mid-1990s when they released their debut self-titled album.

Eddie Van Halen’s Glen Campbell request

OHMYGOSSIP — Eddie Van Halen once asked Alice Cooper to book him a guitar lesson with Glen Campbell.
Alice has revealed the Van Halen lead guitarist was so in awe of the country music legend – who sadly lost his battle with Alzheimer’s Disease on Tuesday (08.08.17) aged 81 – that he was desperate to pick up some tips from the star.
He said: “Eddie Van Halen asked one time, he said, ‘Could you get me a guitar lesson with Glen?’ Most rockers would go, ‘What?’ That’s the kind of guitar player he was.
“He was considered one of the five best guitar players out there.
“He was one of the premier guitar players in rock and country. A lot of people don’t know the respect he had in the rock and roll world.”
Glen was diagnosed with the disease six years ago, and Alice admits it was a “relief” for the ‘Rhinestone Cowboy’ hitmaker that he was able to say goodbye to his fans.
Speaking on TV station Fox 10, he added: “I think it’s a relief for Glen and the family. I’m sure if it were up to Glen, five years ago would’ve been fine with him. [His wife] Kim was so faithful taking care of him. His kids were so faithful taking care of him. They’re in that period now of grief that’s unexplainable.”
Several stars have paid tribute to Glen since his passing, including Billy Ray Cyrus, who praised the late singer for being a huge inspiration throughout his career.
He wrote: “Glen Campbell was such a huge influence on me. Growing up, I studied his writing, songs and how he was an ‘entertainer’s entertainer.’ Along with Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner, Glen Campbell was one of the first to parlay country music into mainstream television and broaden the entire country music fan base across the globe. Ride on Rhinestone Cowboy. God Bless. (sic)”
Dolly also took to her Twitter account to pay tribute to Glen, insisting he had one of the “greatest voices” ever, and could playing “anything”.
In a 20-second video, she said: “Glen Campbell was special because he was so gifted. Glen is one of the greatest voices that ever was in the business and he was one of the greatest musicians.
“He was a wonderful session musician as well, a lot of people don’t realise that.
“He could play anything and he could play it really well, so he was just extremely talented.”

2 Chainz’s broken leg

OHMYGOSSIP — 2 Chainz kicked off his tour in a pink wheelchair after breaking his leg.
The rapper – who began his ‘Pretty Girls Like Trap Music’ tour on Wednesday night (09.08.17) in Tuscon, Arizona – underwent surgery after he suffered the painful injury almost two weeks ago, and he has revealed he was never going to entertain the idea of postponing or cancelling his run on the road.
Writing to his loyal fans on Instagram, he said: “So I broke my leg 11 days ago , and had surgery 10 days ago .. when I woke up from sedation the doctor told me ” well looks like your gonna have to cancel your tour ” so I told him maybe it means God wants me to use my mind and be creative !
“So after all the morphine and pains meds wore off I called management and said somebody find me a ” pink wheelchair ” I can’t let my fans down besides I’m passionate about this s**t !! Tucson, Arizona thank you for supporting me and rocking with the campaign !!

It comes after both Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Guns N’ Roses legend Axl Rose opted for similar solutions when they suffered their own injuries.

Liam Gallagher’s new single

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher’s new track ‘For What It’s Worth’ is reportedly an apology to ex-wife Nicole Appleton.
The former Oasis singer has released his new single, and the lyrics appear to allude to his split from his former flame, which came after her fathered a child, Gemma, four, following a fling with journalist Liza Ghorbani.
Singing on the song’s big chorus, Liam says: “I’ll be the first to say I’m sorry, I made my own mistakes. For what it’s worth I know it’s just a word and words betray. Sometimes we lose our way.”
It comes after Nicole and her All Saints band mates appeared to take aim at her ex with ‘One Strike’ – and Liam hasn’t held back with his own musical response.
He sings: “Behind the lenses is a poison picture you paint, let’s not pretend you were ever searching for saints, because I’ve been crucified for just being alive. First bird to fly gets all the arrows, let’s leave the past behind with all our sorrows.”
Liam’s fans are said to be stunned by his latest song’s similarities to Oasis’ big hit ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ – one of their most popular tunes, penned by Noel.
With string arrangements and a guitar lick seemingly inspired by George Harrison, it has a hint of the iconic anthem.
A source told the Daily Star newspaper: “Liam was threatening to sing Don’t Look Back In Anger live to prove he could sing it better.
“Now he doesn’t have to. It proves that Liam can write a song every bit as good as Noel’s.”
