Scouting for Girls set to ‘surprise’ fans with new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Scouting for Girls are hoping to “surprise” fans with their new music.
The pop-rock band are this year celebrating the tenth anniversary of their eponymous debut album in 2007, but lead singer Roy Stride has promised fans their new material is worth waiting for.
Roy said: “I think it’s some of the best stuff we’ve done.
“‘Dancing in the Daylight’ is the one track which everyone is saying: ‘Oh my god, it’s like Scouting for Girls at their best; revitalised!'”
The band’s new album, ‘Ten Add Ten’, features ten tracks from the past and ten new tracks to coincide with their anniversary.
And Roy has jokingly admitted to revelling in the gimmick-like aspect of their new release.
Speaking to the Metro newspaper, he quipped: “It’s our tenth anniversary and we love a gimmick.
“The first album had ten tracks on it, it’s ten years, I love a ten track album.”
Bass player Peter Ellard admitted the new album is sure to “surprise” a few of their long-time fans.
He explained: “There’s saxophone. There’s a big 80s synthy song with a big dirty saxophone, which is a bit mental.
“There’s also a couple of songs which are very like the first album. It’s nice to surprise fans.”
Roy also revealed he sought inspiration from their earlier albums while writing the new material.
He shared: “I went back to ‘She’s So Lovely’, and ‘Heartbeat’, and asked ‘what made people love this song so much?’
“It’s always been the same, you need a hit single if you’re ever going to sell records, so you just write loads of stuff until you get one.”

U2 send cryptic letters to fans

OHMYGOSSIP — U2 fans received a cryptic letter teasing news on Monday (21.08.17).
The Irish rock band have sent out pieces of paper featuring the words “Blackout … It’s clear who you are will appear … U2.com” and a line, which reads: “U2 will announce [blank] on [blank].”
Over the text, which appears to be an abstract from William Blake’s collection of poems ‘Songs of Innocence and Experience’, the inspiration for their last album ‘Songs of Innocence’, is a silhouette of a boy and girl holding hands.
Several fans have taken to social media to share the mail, but still have no idea what it’s meant to mean.
The ‘With or Without You’ rockers recently admitted choosing songs for their album has been an “ordeal”.
Bassist Adam Clayton – who is joined by Bono, The Edge, and Larry Mullen Jr. in the group – said: “We’ve an abundance of great ideas and it’s really about identifying what to finish and how to finish it.”
The Edge added: “That’s the gift and the curse of this record. The ordeal is getting all four members to agree on the same dozen songs.”
Meanwhile, the band insist they don’t feel a “responsibility” to raise political issues in their work – but still want to “have a go”.
The Edge said: “I don’t know if we feel a responsibility so much.
“Just that there are moments where you just feel like, ‘Wow, someone has got to write a great song about this and hopefully it will be us, so let’s have a go.’
“Coming out of the post-punk era, we were inspired by The Clash, Patti Smith, Television – innovators who also had one foot in the worlds of poetry and literature and the other in political activism. That’s deeply embedded in our band.
“One of the reasons we write a song is to crystallise something of significance for ourselves and, hopefully, other people.”
However, Adam is unsure whether rock music is now the right platform on which to take a stand because the political climate is so complicated.
He said: “I think the world has changed a bit. I’m not sure that within the culture that music is the best medium any more.
“There’s so much noise out there anyway, people saying this, that and the other, that I think music is a little bit insecure as regards what its role is in these situations.”

Foals start work on 5th album

OHMYGOSSIP — Foals have started work on their new album.
The band’s frontman Yannis Philippakis took to his Instagram account to confirm the news about their upcoming fifth studio record while posting a picture of himself carrying two bags of flowers.
He wrote: “Off to write the next record brb (sic)”
Yannis’ post comes just a day after he uploaded a picture of their concert in Paredes de Coura, Portugal, and didn’t give fans any sort of rough schedule when they might next be in action.
He wrote: “Last show of the summer see ya when i see ya. @daveast (sic)”
A post on the group’s official Instagram account thanked the Portuguese crowd.
It read: “Obrigado Portugal! Thankyou for the energy (sic)”
This news comes just a month after the indie rockers’ – also made up of Jack Bevan, Jimmy Smith, Walter Gervers and Edwin Congreave – admitted the group hadn’t quite started work on their new record but were in the “conception stage”.
Yannis said: “We’re in the marinating stage of thinking about getting onto the next record. We have a couple of bits written but it’s in the very early stages. We’re in the conception stage, we’re not pregnant yet, we’re just trying to have the kid.
“I think it’s good to be hungry and want to make big leaps between records and keep things surprising and keep it unpredictable and to grow. It’s important for bands to evolve and I think it’s one of the reasons that it’s still exciting for us after having done four records.”
Foals’ new album will be a follow up to 2015’s ‘What Went Down’. They previously released ‘Antidotes’ in 2008 followed by 2010’s ‘Total Life Forever’ and ‘Holy Fire’ in 2013.

DJ Khaled wants Adele collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — DJ Khaled wants to collaborate with Adele.
The ‘I’m the One’ hitmaker has teamed up with a number of high-profile artists, including Beyonce, Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Chance the Rapper, but he has the ‘Hello’ hitmaker at the top of his wish list along with rappers Dr. Dre and Eminem.
He told Billboard magazine: “I want to work with Dr. Dre. I want to work with Eminem. I want to work with Adele.”
In the meantime, Mark Wahlberg revealed last month that he has been working on a project with the ‘Wild Thoughts’ hitmaker.
The 46-year-old actor was a member of New Kids On The Block before they hit the big time and quit in 1988, but he could be set to return to the studio as he and the hip-hop star have been talking about working together.
The ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ star said: “I’ve spoken to [DJ Khaled] a couple times. We’re working on some other things.”
Mark was part of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, a hip-hop outfit signed to Atlantic Records from 1989 to 1993, who had a hit with ‘Good Vibrations’, which made it to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1991.
Khaled, 41, released his star-studded 10th studio album ‘Grateful’ in June.

Rick Astley and Foo Fighters prank Japan crowd

OHMYGOSSIP — Ricky Astley left Foo Fighters fans gobsmacked when he joined the band on stage for a rendition of ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’.
The 80s pop legend had never met the US rock band until moments before he joined them on stage at Summer Sonic Festival in Japan on Sunday (20.08.17), but they hit it off straight away.
Dave Grohl and his bandmates started playing his former band Nirvana’s grunge hit ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ and then halfway through the frontman introduced Rick to the crowd.
The ‘Everlong’ hitmaker said: “Ladies and gentlemen, would you please welcome our new best friend, Rick Astley.
“This is f***ing crazy. I just met him two minutes ago.”
They then turned the 1991 classic into the 51-year-old singer’s track.
It was no coincidence that the band would team up with Rick for the duet.
A prank involving the music video for the 1987 song, a phase known as Rickrolling, saw a click bait clip which would change using a hidden hyperlink.
People thought they were clicking on something entirely different and then they were “rickrolled”.
In 2015, Foo Fighters famously put the song on loudspeaker whilst driving past a demonstration at Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, known for its hate speech, especially against LGBT people and other religions.
So the live performance at Summer Sonic turned out to be a real life version of being “rickrolled”.

Louis Tomlinson’s mind-blowing album

OHMYGOSSIP — Steve Aoki says Louis Tomlinson’s debut solo album will “blow people’s minds”.
The EDM superstar teamed up with the One Direction hunk on his debut solo single ‘Just Hold On’ and has been so impressed with his record that he plans on getting back into the studio with the 25-year-old singer when he has a space in his schedule.
Asked if the pair are going to work together again, the ‘Lit’ hitmaker said: “We’ve been talking about doing future music as well and we always try and figure out time between schedules. Plus he’s crushing it with Back to You. I love that track.”
On what to expect from the record from what he has listened to, Steve told The Sun Online: “I think he’s going to blow people away with his new album. His album’s incredible.
“I’ve heard some songs and everyone is just mind blowing to me.
“All I can tell you is they make me feel something incredibly human.”
The pair won the Choice Music Collaboration prize at the Teen Choice Awards last weekend for the hit song and the ‘Back to You’ hitmaker paid tribute to his pal in an emotional Instagram video after the ceremony.
Louis said: “Me and Steve won the best collaboration award and that’s unbelievable. I just want to thank everyone for their continued support. And obviously a massive thanks to Steve, what a legend you are. Thank you very much.”

Dizzee Rascal: Stormzy stole a verse from me

OHMYGOSSIP — Dizzee Rascal says Stormzy stole a chorus from one of his songs.
The London-born grime star has revealed he almost collaborated with Stormzy on his track ‘Return Of The Rucksack’, but Dizzee decided against it because the song features one of his own verses.
Dizzee, 32 – whose real name is Dylan Mills – explained: “Me and Stormzy were going to get in the studio but I didn’t feel it was right.
“The song he sent me was ‘Return Of The Rucksack’. The chorus, that’s actually a verse from one of my songs – ‘Seems 2 Be’.
“I’ve had a lot of artists do that, sampling my stuff and wanting me to jump on it. He quotes so many of my lyrics but the new generation won’t know that.”
During his time in the music industry, Dizzee has worked with a host of big-name acts, including the likes of Calvin Harris and the Arctic Monkeys.
But, improbably, Dizzee could soon appear on a record with three-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton, whose love of music is well known.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Dizzee explained: “I did an event last year and he was telling me he was making music.
“He’s one of the most legendary racing drivers on the planet ever, so why are you going to drop that and put out rap songs?
“But he wouldn’t be the first athlete that’s done it and been successful. [Retired basketball star] Shaquille O’Neal has got two platinum albums.”

Adam Lambert pays tribute to George Michael

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Lambert performed a three-song tribute to George Michael at a charity show.
The 35-year-old singer praised the late star – who died on Christmas Day (25.12.16) last year aged 53 – as having a “God-gifted voice from the heavens” while performing at the Project Angel Food’s 27th annual Angel Awards Gala, a charity George donated $25,000 a year to since 1993, in Los Angeles.
Speaking at the event, Adam said: “George Michael was a God-gifted voice from the heavens.
“And he raised half a million dollars for this organisation.”
Adam performed George’s hits ‘Faith’ and ‘One More Try’ as well as Queen song ‘Somebody to Love’, which the late singer sang with the band on 20 April 1992 during The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert following the frontman’s passing.
Speaking to the crowd on Saturday night (19.08.17), the ‘Ghost Town’ hitmaker – who is currently on a world tour with Queen – said: “Now, I know my way around a couple of Queen songs.
“Actually, round circle here, is that he recorded this song for the Freddie Mercury tribute in 1991, after Freddie had passed, and the song became a huge hit, so I’m going to connect the circle and we’re going to do “Somebody to Love’.”
During the event, George was posthumously awarded the Elizabeth Taylor Leadership Award for his work as a Project Angel Food benefactor.
The charity delivers meals to people who are critically ill.
More than 470 people were in attendance at the event after they forked out between $500 and $2,500 for a ticket.

Jay Z’s tribute to Chester Bennington

OHMYGOSSIP — Jay Z paid tribute to Chester Bennington during his V Festival performance on Saturday (19.08.17).
The 47-year-old rapper ended his headline set at Weston Park, Staffordshire with a rendition of his 2004 Linkin Park collaboration ‘Numb/Encore’ and he asked the crowd to “make some noise” so Chester could hear.
He said: “Can I get some love for Chester tonight?” before asking them to “make some noise so he can hear you in heaven”.
Chester, 41, died by suicide in July at his home in Palos Verdes, California.
And, earlier this month, Jay Z’s close pal Chris Martin paid tribute to Chester with a solo piano version of Linkin Park’s 2000 hit ‘Crawling’ at a Coldplay concert in New Jersey.
Chris made a mistake at the start of the song but began again, after saying: “I know this is probably going to end up on YouTube so I want to do it right, and I want to do it respectfully.”
He dedicated the performance to musicians and to people everywhere, who are missing loved ones.
He added: “This is to everybody who misses someone you know. This is for our whole community of musicians.”
Chester’s bandmate, Mike Shinoda, shared a video of the emotional recital on Instagram and wrote: “Thank you @coldplay. It sounded beautiful.(sic)”
Chester was laid to rest earlier this month at an intimate funeral with just a few hundred people in attendance.
Chester’s family wanted a private memorial for the star and the service was attended by family members, friends, bandmates and musicians he had worked with over the years.

Pink forgets song lyrics

OHMYGOSSIP — Pink says she needs “four years” to remember her song lyrics.
The 37-year-old singer wowed crowds at this year’s V festival, which took place at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, on Saturday (19.08.17) by performing her classic hits ‘U + Ur hand’, as well as ‘Raise your Glass’.
The American powerhouse started her 90-minute set by singing her 2001 hit ‘Get The Party Started’ after she was suspended above the crowds on a large fishhook.
And Pink was thankful that her fans were able to remember the lyrics to her tracks, which she admitted she had forgotten
Before singing her latest single, ‘What About Us’, she said: “Usually takes me about four years to learn a song. I wish I’d stop shaking thank you for having me 10 years later. I forgot so many words tonight.”
Pink continue to sing ‘Like A Pill’ as well as ‘Trouble’ before she thanked the audience for their support throughout her career,
She said: “So good to hear that. First of all, I want to say thank you for having me back. I’m forever grateful for all the years and all the love.”
Pink continued her set by belting out her 2008 single ‘Funhouse’ and ‘Just Give Me a Reason’.
The star went on to perform ‘Don’t Let Me Get Me’ with James Gillespie, but prior to the duet with her fellow musician, she admitted the 2001 single used to be her least favourite song.
She explained: “I don’t like it that much. James Gillespie has made me like it again. He was nice enough to come out tonight. He was absolutely amazing.”
Pink – whose full name is Alecia Beth Moore – also sang ‘Who Knew?’, ‘F**kin Perfect’ as well as ‘Sober’, before singing her own rendition of Bishop Briggs’ ‘Rivers’.
Speaking about the track, she said: “There’s some songs you wish you wrote and there’s some people you wish you were friends with.”
Pink ended her set by performing ‘So What’ whilst suspended in the air on a harness.
Earlier in the day Madness entertained crowds with a string of their classic hits, whilst George Ezra also performed his 2014 hit single ‘Budapest’ on the Supervene stage.
Sigala also had the crowd on their feet as he remixed ‘In the Name of Love ‘ with Coldplay and The Chainsmokers’ ‘Something just Like this’, followed by Daft Punk’s ‘One More Time’.
Sigala was later joined on stage by “special guest” Ella Eyre to perform their latest single ‘Came Here For Love’.
Jess Glynne performed ‘Hold My Hand’, ‘Take Me Home’ and ‘Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself’ as well as other singles.
And earlier in the evening Craig David wowed his fans by performing ‘Ain’t Giving Up’ and ‘Fill Me In’.
Speaking during his performance, the star said: “It’s an absolute honour to be here today.”
Craig David went on to sing ‘Nothing Like This’ as well as ‘Rise & Fall’, which he collaborated on with music icon Sting in 2003, ‘Seven Days’ and his own rendition of Justin Bieber’s ‘Love Yourself’.
Ant the vocalist has admitted throughout his career he has had his fair share of high and “low” moments.
He said: “Genuinely this is the best journey I’ve been on. In 17 years there were moments when I was low and now this standing up on stage it all feels so worth it,”
Craig’s TS5 set saw him remix R Kelly’s ‘ bump and grind’ with other hit tracks.
And the vocalist has praised his supporters for “rolling with [him]” over the years.
He said: “This has been an absolute honour to be up here. Everyone’s been rolling with me for years. And there’s a whole new generation who’s waiting for the new album to drop this year.”
Sean Paul entertained crowds with his performance on the MTV stage with ‘I’m Still In Love’ before he was joined by Anne Marie, who performed earlier in the day, to belt out ‘Rockabye’.
And Rudimental was accompanied by James Arthur on the MTV stage to perform ‘Sun Comes Up’.

Peter Andre plotting duet with son

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Andre is going to record a charity single with his son.
The ‘Mysterious Girl’ hitmaker is a big fan of 12-year-old Junior’s “beautiful voice” and though he won’t be putting pressure on the youngster to launch his career, he’ll give him as much support as he can when he decides to take the plunge.
He revealed: “Junior has decided he wants to be a singer. He’s actually got a beautiful voice and I’ve said to him he’s got to promise me I’ll be the first person to record his vocals.
“I’m not going to pressure him but I’ve told him when he’s ready we can record a track for charity.
“I was actually around Junior’s age when I decided I wanted to be a singer, so it’s nice that history is repeating itself.”
However, the 43-year-old singer – who has Junior and his sister Princess, 10, with ex-wife Katie Price, and three-year-old Amelia and Theo, eight months, with spouse Emily – won’t be allowing his son to neglect his studies in favour of his pop ambitions.
He added: “He’s such a sweet boy and although he’s turning into a bit of a teenager, I’ve said to him that as long as he keeps his manners and finishes school, then he can do anything.
“I’ve got him extra maths and English lessons and he’s doing really well at school at the moment.”
The ‘Behind Closed Doors’ star thinks it is important his kids also help out around the house.
Writing in his latest column for new! magazine, he explained: “I can’t bear clutter. I like a home to feel like a home, but if we don’t need it, I say get rid of it.
“The kids have a playroom where all their oys are kept and the other day Emily said she was going to tackle it.
“But I said the kids need to help clean it otherwise they won’t learn. In the end, we all tackled it.”

Liam Gallagher wants to play We Are Manchester show

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher wishes he could perform at the ‘We Are Manchester’ benefit show on September 9.
The former Oasis frontman’s brother and bitter rival Noel Gallagher is headlining the first concert at Manchester Arena following the terrorist attack at Ariana Grande’s concert in May, and though Liam is playing in Spain that day he’d love to make the show.
The ‘Wall of Glass’ singer wrote on Twitter: “I would love to play that gig in MCR on sept 9th but I’m afraid I’m playing in Spain saying that though it’s only a hop skip n a jump LG x (sic)”
Noel’s High Flying Birds will be joined by local acts including Blossoms, The Courteeners and Rick Astley at the concert following the atrocity, which saw 23 people were killed and 250 were injured.
All money made from ticket sales will be donated to the Manchester Memorial Fund, which has been setup to fund a memorial for the people who tragically lost their lives.
It is only fitting that the 50-year-old rocker should perform at the show as Oasis’ 1996 hit ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ has became an anthem for the city in the wake of the horrific terrorist bombing.
Liam, 44, performed the song at Ariana’s One Love Manchester benefit concert in June.
And even though Noel donated the royalties from the track to the victims, Liam blasted his former bandmate for not performing the song with him at the Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground.
At the time, he said: “He’s made it clear that a reunion is not at the top of his priorities and right now it’s not the top of mine. I would prefer it if I was in Oasis, but that’s not what the Manchester concert was about. He could have got up and done ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ and never even had to see me.
“Are you telling me that if Noel Gallagher rocked up with his guitar and knocked on the door they would say, ‘You’re not invited, mate’? So he can f**k off on that one. I don’t care if he was in the Amalfi Coast or wherever, it lacked sympathy on his behalf. We have family and friends in Manchester and me mam’s still there, and it would have been nice to do it for his people. End of.”

Selena Gomez confirms Marshmello collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — Selena Gomez has recorded a song with anonymous DJ Marshmello.
The 25-year-old pop beauty will be putting the untitled track with the EDM superstar – who has previously collaborated with Noah Cyrus – on her eagerly-anticipated third studio album and says she brings her own vibe to the ‘Chasing Colors’ hitmaker’s electronic dance sound.
Speaking to San Diego’s Energy 103.7 radio station, she said: “It’s really cool. It’s kind of in that world, his world, and I’m stepping into it and bringing my style too.”
The single will follow ‘Fetish’ featuring rapper Gucci Mane, which was released in July.
The ‘It Ain’t Me’ singer previously promised her fans – who are known as Selenators – that new tunes are “coming for sure” as she is making headway in the studio.
She said recently: “I spent a year in the studio, and now I’m putting all of these pieces together, and it’s coming a lot faster than people think. But that’s what makes it great, because there’s a little mystery to it, and it sounds so separate from everything else I’ve done. I mean, from the Kygo record, to ‘Bad Liar’ and the next thing that’s after ‘Bad Liar’ is so separate from that, it’s just me trying to figure out where it’s gonna go. And I don’t really have a set plan, but a lot of new music is coming for sure.”
The brunette beauty – who is dating ‘Starboy’ rapper The Weeknd – admitted she needed some space to work out what she enjoys most in life as an actress, singer and as executive producer on hit Netflix series ’13 Reasons Why’.
She explained: “I kind of hovered away a little bit because I really tried to find the balance in my life. I think it’s really important for me to figure out what makes me happy, and I don’t really want to be all over the place.
“I want to pick the things that I’m passionate about, and I want to make them great, and I think that’s where I’m at in my life and in my career. So, I take the moments for myself.”

Ryan Adams has recorded a duet with Taylor Swift

OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Adams and Taylor Swift have recorded a duet.
The 42-year-old musician previously covered the ‘Shake It Off’ singer’s entire ‘1989’ album and explained he did so because he was fascinated by her writing process, and he also found the lyrics struck a chord when he was going through a divorce from Mandy Moore.
He said: “Taylor is my friend – she and I had recorded a song together that no one’s ever heard – and I wanted to know how far she went from acoustic to her finished songs.
“I wanted to break it back down to the acoustic. It took five or six days and never stopped being fun.
“Plus it was kind of cathartic because her words were actually matching s**t I was going through.”
Ryan channelled his own heartbreak into his most recent album ‘Prisoner’ and though there are still a lot of songs he didn’t put on the record, he took a break from recording that to focus on his ‘1989’ project because he was “tired” of his own work.
He told Vanity Fair magazine: “I was in New York at Electric Lady Studios and being back and in that zone opened me up.
“I wrote so many songs for ‘Prisoner’ – there are still 22 that people don’t know yet and are much more f***ed up – but I was getting tired of playing my own stuff.”
Ryan previously praised Taylor’s songwriting abilities and claimed covering her tracks made him step up his own work.
He said: “[It was like] being in Ghostbusters or something, and then all of a sudden I have to go do Shakespeare…
“Those songs are popular for a reason. She’s a popular artist for a reason.”

Miley Cyrus channels Elvis in music video for Younger Now

OHMYGOSSIP — Miley Cyrus channels Elvis Presley in the music video for her album-titled track ‘Younger Now’.
The 24-year-old pop beauty’s third single, following on from ‘Malibu’ and ‘Inspired’, is now available and features lyrics about feeling at her best.
She sings: “Feels like I just woke up/ Like all this time I’ve been asleep/ Even though it’s not who I am/ I’m not afraid of who I used to be.”
The promo for the track sees the ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer rock a number of looks, including a rhinestone-encrusted all-in-one with her hair in an Elvis-esque quiff while she prances around with puppets.
Miley has also taken to social media to unveil the full track-listning for the 11-track record, which includes a special collaboration with her godmother, country music legend Dolly Parton, on ‘Rainbowland’.
If the song titles are anything to go by, Miley seems to be wearing her heart on her sleeve and has no doubt written several of the tracks about her fiancé Liam Hemsworth.
They include ‘I Would Die For You’, ‘Miss You So Much’ and ‘Love Someone’, all carrying strong themes of love.
The album will be released on September 29, and is the first studio LP from the ‘Hannah Montana’ actress since 2015’s ‘Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz’.
The star is set to perform at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on August 27.

ABBA’s Benny Andersson announces Piano album

OHMYGOSSIP — Benny Andersson has re-imagined ABBA songs for a new solo piano album.
The Swedish pop group’s chief songwriter, who will release ‘Piano’ via iconic classical music label Deutsche Grammophon on September 29, has taken the classic track by the ‘Eurovision’ winners ‘Thank You For The Music’ and several others from his career spanning more than 40 years and stripped them back with just himself playing the keys for the 21-track LP.
The ‘Dancing Queen’ hitmaker says it feels like he is telling his story through the songs he’s selected to perform.
Benny said: “In the process of recording this album, I have come to realise that the pieces I have chosen to play are an integral part of me.
“In endeavouring to reach for some core within them, I have found that the more I strip away the clothing, the closer I feel to the music, regardless of whether it was created last year or 40 years ago. In a strange way, I feel like I am playing my memoirs.”
Benny says seeing each song develop a whole new sound and meaning with just an instrumental was “very pleasing”.
He said: “It was very different to how I’ve made records in the past, and that was part of the joyfulness of it all.
“Even without the bass, drums, guitars, strings and vocals on these songs, I think there is still substance in all of them. That was very pleasing to realise.”
Sir Lucian Grainge, Chairman & CEO, Universal Music Group commented: “This new collection of solo piano recordings will reinforce Benny’s legacy as one of the finest contemporary composers of our time.”
ABBA – also comprised of Björn Ulvaeus, Anni-Frid (Frida) Lyngstad and Agnetha Faltskog – split up in 1982 after 10 years together, but Benny went on to release nine albums with his band BAO – an acronym for Benny Andersson’s Orchestra.
The track-listing for ‘Piano’ is as follows:
1. I Let The Music Speak
2. You And I
3. Aldrig
4. Thank You For The Music
5. Stockholm By Night
6. Chess
7. The Day Before You Came
8. Someone Else’s Story
9. Midnattsdans
10. Målarskolan
11. I Wonder (Departure)
12. Embassy Lament
13. Anthem
14. My Love, My Life
15. Mountain Duet
16. Flickornas Rum
17. Efter Regnet
18. Tröstevisa
19. En Skrift I Snöen
20. Happy New Year
21. I Gott Bevar
