Justin Timberlake records with Foo Fighters

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Timberlake appears on the new Foo fighters album.
The ‘SexyBack’ singer ran into the group when they were recording their new LP ‘Concrete and Gold’ at EastWest studios in Los Angeles and quickly hit it off with frontman Dave Grohl, prompting him to ask if he could add his vocals to one of their songs so he had something to boast about to his friends.
Dave said of Justin: “We’d drink whiskey in the parking lot. He was really, really cool. Then the night before his last day, he says, ‘Can I sing on your record? I don’t want to push it, but – I just want to be able to tell my friends.’
The ‘Learn to Fly’ hitmakers agreed and the 36-year-old star recorded some ‘la la la’ sounds for one track.
Dave quipped in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine: “He nailed it. I’m telling you – the guy’s going somewhere.”
And Justin isn’t the only famous star to appear on the record because Dave asked his friend Sir Paul McCartney to play drums on one track after the Beatles legend requested to work with their producer, Greg Kurstin, during their recording sessions.
Paul initially replied: “You’re crazy, man!”
But he quickly agreed, having previously enjoyed jamming with the band on Dave’s ‘Sound City’ documentary in 2013.
He said: “Even if it had been banjo, I think I probably would have showed up.”
And the 75-year-old musician impressed the band with his drumming skills, with his first take of two being used on the finished track.
Drummer Taylor Hawkins said: “You don’t generally think of him as a drummer. But he laid that track so f***ing effortlessly. He never even heard the song – Dave kind of explained it to him with an acoustic guitar. And he was like, ‘Yeah, yeah. I think I know what you’re doing.’ ”
Paul had such a great time in the studio, he was keen to do more with them.
Dave recalled: “He was so f***ing good.
“We played for an hour, then took a break and had bagels and tea. I thought we were done – I didn’t want to rag him out – so I was out having a cig, and someone goes, ‘Hey, Paul wants to jam some more.’ He rounded everybody up, and we jammed for hours: ‘Let’s write some songs, man!’ ”
Paul quipped: “Well, you know. Once you get the meter running.”

Ed Sheeran, The 1975 and Adele to go head to head at Q Awards

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran, The 1975 and Adele will go head to head at the Q Awards 2017 to be named Q’s Best Act In The World Today.

“The shortlists are certainly the Q Awards’ most robust and diverse – perhaps because we left their finessing to our astute readers. They’ve voted for the first time, and in enormous numbers, to reduce our longlists to these final berths.
“In doing so they’ve revealed an accurate map of the very best music of the last ten months or so, an era where the divide between alternative and mainstream is ever more blurred: the best music finds a path, whether that’s Ed Sheeran, Sleaford Mods or Stormzy. And that’s the space where Q Magazine resides.”
The public can cast their votes and choose the winners for the following categories over at www.Qthemusic.com, with voting closing on Friday, 6 October.

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Jackson’s new posthumous album ‘Scream’ will be released on September 29.
Speculation about the late King of Pop’s forthcoming LP went into overdrive since his official Twitter page released a 15-second Halloween-themed video teaser earlier this week, but he has now been confirmed the record will drop at the end of the month.
‘Scream’ – a 13-track record – will be packed with the legendary star’s all-time most electrifying and dance worthy tracks including ‘Ghosts’, ‘Torture’, ‘Thriller’ and ‘Dirty Diana’ as well as the the bonus track ‘Blood on the Dance Floor X Dangerous’, which is a high-energy five-song mashup from the acclaimed remixer The White Panda.
‘Scream’ is the title of the 1995 duet Michael – who died in 2009 of acute Propofol intoxication – released with his sister Janet Jackson, 51.
While ‘Scream’ doesn’t feature any new tracks, the co-executor of the ‘Thriller’ hitmaker’s estate said never-heard-before tracks could be released in the future.
John Branca said previously: “Now we have a ‘Thriller 3-D’, and two more announcements are coming up in the next couple of weeks.
“Michael had an expression; ‘The quality goes in before the name goes on.’ So we are not ready to announce them yet.
“I don’t foresee us releasing any more unreleased music for quite some time. That doesn’t mean there won’t be interesting new record releases in the very near future.”
This isn’t the first time records have been released since Michael’s death, as ‘Michael’ dropped in 2010 and then ‘Xscape’ was released four years later in 2014.
The official track listing for ‘Scream’ is as follows;
1. ‘This Place Hotel’

Rival Sons, The Struts, Kaleo, John Lee Hooker Jr., Los Zigarros, de Staat, The Hellacopters, Leon Bridges and Cage The Elephant are the lucky bands getting to join the ‘Satisfaction’ rockers on the European run.

Guitarist Keith, 73, said previously: “Hey Guys, here we come. See you there!!!”
And frontman Mick, also 73, added: “I’m so excited to be touring Europe this autumn and returning to some familiar places and some we’ve never done before.”
They’ll no doubt treat fans to some of the songs they covered for their latest record, ‘Blue & Lonesome’, considering the number of blues bands supporting.
An insider teased last year that the ‘Satisfaction’ hitmakers were planning to hit the road this year as they show no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
At the time, the source said: “Mick will never lose that bug for performing.
“He’s keen to go back on the road and play in huge stadiums, and some have already been secretly booked out in preparation for a possible show.”

Louis Tomlinson finds solo career ‘easier’

OHMYGOSSIP — Louis Tomlinson finds being a solo artist “easier” than being in One Direction.
The ‘Just Hold On’ hitmaker is loving being “in control” and getting to make choices for himself now he is on his own because he would always have to compromise with his bandmates.
He said: “It’s easier, it’s easier because from a writing perspective or even a marketing perspective or anything like that. We’d all have to be on the same page which takes a bit of working out before we get there.
“So it’s nice to be kind of in control of my destiny completely and there’s more pressure obviously but again it makes me feel like I can be open. ”
The 25-year-old singer is gearing up to release his debut solo album and said fans can expect some real “honest” and “vulnerable” songs unlike the majority of pop music, which Louis says is oversubscribed with “fairy tale” storylines.
Speaking to Jim Hill on 4Music’s Trending Live’, he said: “It’s for me important across my lyrics very matter of fact, very honest, vulnerable cause actually I don’t think there’s enough of that in pop. Everybody writes about these fairy tale scenarios when in reality I think life’s pretty interesting.”
Louis released ‘Back To You’ with Bebe Rexha and has praised the pop beauty for making the song what it is.
He said: “The track went another place when we got Bebe on the single because it definitely lead to a collaboration and the emotion is really driven between the two of us. It really was a perfect match.”

A new Michael Jackson album is on the way

OHMYGOSSIP — A new Michael Jackson album called ‘Scream’ is reportedly set to be released this month.
The late King of Pop’s official Twitter page teased the project with a 15-second Halloween-themed video featuring his spookiest hits such as ‘Dirty Diana’, ‘Blood On The Dancefloor’ and ‘Ghosts’ on Monday night (04.09.17).
The post was simply captioned: “#MJScream (sic)”
Adding to the speculation, several posters with the release date of September 29 have been spotted around Germany.
‘Scream’ is the title of the 1995 duet Michael – who died in 2009 of acute Propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication – released with his sister Janet Jackson, 51.
While little else is known about the album, the co-executor of the ‘Thriller’ hitmaker’s estate said it will not include never-heard-before music, but that new songs could be released in the future.
John Branca told Variety: “Now we have a ‘Thriller 3-D’, and two more announcements are coming up in the next couple of weeks.
“Michael had an expression; ‘The quality goes in before the name goes on.’
“So we are not ready to announce them yet.
“I don’t foresee us releasing any more unreleased music for quite some time.
“That doesn’t mean there won’t be interesting new record releases in the very near future.”
Since the ‘Earth Song’ hitmaker’s death, two posthumous records have been released; 2010’s ‘Michael’ and 2014’s ‘Xscape’.
Taking into consideration that the teaser video on Twitter was Halloween-based, it could be a new compilation album or a remix record, of which the music legend released 72 and seven of respectively.

Rita Ora’s mum provides vocals on her album

OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Ora’s mum sings on her new album.
The ‘Your Song’ hitmaker has revealed her eagerly-anticipated second studio album has a real family vibe to it and so she wanted the person that gave her life and her loved ones to play a part in it.
She said: “It’s fun cos I wanted to talk on it and my mum to talk on it. And everything has an interlude.
“It’s a record that’s like a photo album. The artwork has a lot to do with where I came from.”
The 26-year-old beauty recorded parts of the record – which is the follow-up to her 2012 debut ‘Ora’ – in her family’s pub and has confessed there may be one or two numbers that she sung whilst intoxicated.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: “I wanted people that I’ve know my whole life to be around me while I was in that creative process.
“My dad owns a pub, so I would got to the pub all the time and like chill, it was the first time I made music without people screaming down my neck.
“I even recorded some of the album while drunk.
“I went home to record this album and went out and got drunk with friends that I’ve know my whole life.”
The record is due to be released next month, but in the meantime, Rita is working on her collaboration with Charli XCX called ‘Girls’ which she hopes will bring “girl power” back.

Robbie Williams cancels remaining European tour dates due to illness

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams has cancelled the rest of his European tour due to “illness”.
The 43-year-old singer was due to perform three dates in Russia in St. Petersburg and Moscow as part of his ‘The Heavy Entertainment Show’ tour, and at the New Wave singing contest in Sochi.
In a statement, the ‘I Love My Life’ hitmaker’s publicist said: “Due to illness, the final two dates of the European leg of ‘The Heavy Entertainment show Tour’, St. Petersburg and Moscow, have been cancelled.
“Robbie Williams will also not be appearing at The New Wave event in Sochi.”
The pop star is unlikely to return to the stage until February next year, when he is due to resume his tour in Australia.
The statement concluded: “Robbie Williams has played to over 1.1 million fans this summer and recently announced an Australian leg of the tour which is happening in February and March 2018.”
It comes after the ‘Rock DJ’ singer opened up about his battle with agoraphobia and how most days he’s been staying inside whilst on the road.
The heartthrob also said that his “cocky” stage persona is just a facade to mask the fact he is petrified.
In a recent interview, he admitted: “The more cocky and arrogant I look onstage, the more terrified I am.”
Other than depression, which he insists is brought on by being in the spotlight, Robbie has also complained of back problems caused by arthritis.
He explained: “I don’t know if I’d be this mentally ill without fame. I don’t think it would be as gross or as powerful if it hadn’t have been for fame.
“You get a magnifying glass in the shape of the world’s attention and your defects will obviously magnify too.”

Charli XCX: Boys music video was inspired by Joe Jonas

OHMYGOSSIP — Charli XCX’s ‘Boys’ music video was inspired by Joe Jonas.
The 25-year-old singer released the second single from her upcoming as-yet-untitled third studio album back in July, and has now said when she first thought of the accompanying music video – which she self-directed and which features a group of men “being really sexy” – the scene in which the DNCE singer is seen eating piles of pancakes was the first thing she imagined.
She said: “This idea popped into my head of all these guys being really sexy. I think the first person who popped into my head was Joe Jonas. Just, eating really sexily, which is a weird thought for me to be thinking – sorry, Joe.
“Joe eating had set me on a train of thought of all of these guys doing different sexy, kind of, things. I basically wanted to hit up as many people as possible.”
And Charli loved having the chance to work with “stereotypically sexy scenes” which she believes women are often cast in for music videos or movies, and “flip the male gaze on its head” by placing males in those scenes instead.
Speaking to Billboard’s ‘How It Went Down’ series, she said: “I guess the idea was to take these stereotypically sexy scenes that women are often stereotyped to be doing in music videos or movies, and then having the guys act them out. I basically wanted to flip the male gaze on its head. You know, that obviously wasn’t the total main focus of the video, but it’s definitely something I wanted to tap into.
“I also just wanted to make a next level pop video that would be really fun.”
Meanwhile, 27-year-old Joe previously said he enjoyed being objectified as part of the video.
He said: “Charli reached out to me and came up with this idea. I was like, ‘Yes! The roles should be reversed. It’s about time. Let’s just make this like, over the top!'”

And when ‘Wall of Glass’ singer Liam took to the stage after one too many glasses of fizz, he told the room: “A lot of people have got a lot to say these days and obviously I have, but not tonight because I’ve drunk a little bit too much champagne.
As Stormzy said, you’ve got a selfie with Ronan Keating, I got a handshake off him.”

Leona Lewis recruits Calum Scott for new music

OHMYGOSSIP — Leona Lewis has been discussing a duet with Calum Scott.
The 32-year-old singer was last heard on the Grenfell Tower charity single, a cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’, alongside the likes of Stormzy, Rita Ora, Robbie Williams, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne, which was released in June to benefit the victims of the blaze at the block of flats in west London, which killed over 70 people.
However, the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ alumni has revealed he’s been messaging the former ‘X Factor’ winner about getting together for a new song, though he didn’t say if it would be for his debut album or Leona’s next offering.
He told The Sun newspaper: “Me and Leona have been texting recently. She was like, ‘Maybe you’d like to do this song with me?’ So we’re going back and forth.
“It’s times like that where I’m like, ‘I’m messaging Leona Lewis about a possible duet. What is going on with my life?'”
In 2016, Leona was dropped from her label, Island Records, and experienced a bumpy ride in the charts, despite their best efforts to propel her career.
The ‘Bleeding Love’ hitmaker signed to the label in 2015, following her split from Simon Cowell’s Syco.
A source said at the time: “It simply didn’t work out with Island. She made a great record and the label really championed her but something just didn’t click.”
Leona’s first single ‘Fire Under My Feet’ from her fifth studio album ‘I Am’, released under Island Records, flopped in the charts and the LP sold just 8,500 copies in its first week in September 2015.
As for Calum, his cover of Robyn’s ‘Dancing on My Own’ released last year sold over 600,000 copies, making it platinum in the UK.

Boyzone ditch love ballads for new urban sound

OHMYGOSSIP — Boyzone have ditched the love ballads and gone urban for their big comeback album.
The Irish quartet – Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham and Shane Lynch – will mark their 25th anniversary in 2018 by hitting the road to celebrate with their fans and releasing new music.
Ronan says Shane has taken the lead with writing the new tunes and that they will be a little different from their usual love balladry.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, he said: “Shane has been working so hard, there has been a lot of Shane influence rather than Boyzone.
“He’s from an urban background with his style and taste in music, and that’s been a huge influence on this record and our music.”
Fans of the ‘No Matter What’ group could see the new record – their first since 2013’s ‘BZ20’ – could be released later this year, but definitely in time for the tour.
Ronan, 40, said: “The album will be out either this year or next, we’re trying to get it finished, it’s been really enjoyable.”
Boyzone announced their return in May and have done a number of shows this summer, their last one is at Derby County Cricket Ground on September 16.
They wrote on Instagram: “2018 will see Boyzone celebrate their 25th anniversary! That’s something that Ronan, Keith, Mikey & Shane are incredibly proud of. Plans are being hatched for new music and lots of touring throughout the year. But next year still seems a long way off so in case you can’t wait, the Boyz are hitting the road for some exclusive UK shows later this summer. Dates and ticketing details will be announced here soon… #boyzone2017 (sic).”
In addition to releasing new music and going on tour, it has been claimed that the band have also discussed writing a tell-all book and even creating their own West End show.

Ringo Starr reveals his spiritual routine

OHMYGOSSIP — Ringo Starr reads spiritual books to get himself “through the day”.
The 77-year-old former Beatles member has revealed the secrets to his good health, admitting his vegetarian diet and spiritual routine have been keys to his longevity.
He explained: “I have a meditation practice. I pray to the god of my understanding, and I read spiritual books – day-at-a-time books, things like that that help you get through the day.”
Ringo’s new album, ‘Give More Love’, is released later this month, and the music icon says he’s still living his life-long ambition.
And Ringo insisted his passion for making new tracks remains undiminished.
He told the Los Angeles Times newspaper: “I only ever wanted to play – that was my aim from 13.
“I worked in factories and on the railway, but I played at night and made decisions that got me where I was. I didn’t know I was going to get there [into the Beatles]. But I knew I wanted to play. So I got into a Liverpool band, then I got into Rory [Storm & the Hurricanes], then I got into the biggest band in the land.
“I just always wanted to play, and to play with good people. I’m sitting here, at 77, still talking about it. And I’m still playing.”
Ringo has been working with former Eurythmics guitarist Dave Stewart on his new music.
But he recently revealed that regardless of who he’s collaborating with, he always tries to direct the tunes towards a feeling of “peace and love”.
Reflecting on the collaboration process, Ringo explained: “What usually happens is – it doesn’t matter what people are doing. I direct it to the place I want it to be. Which is usually peace and love.”

Danny O’Donoghue lost his voice for two months

OHMYGOSSIP — The Script frontman Danny O’Donoghue has revealed he almost completely lost his voice after having an operation to remove nodules from his vocal cords.
The 37-year-old singer was unable to talk for two months after having surgery to correct the problem which was affecting his ability to perform live.
Danny admits the medical problem occurred because the band had taken on too much work and were “burning the candle from both ends”.
Appearing on UK TV show ‘Loose Women’ on Monday (04.09.17), he said: “It was from partying and burning the candle from both ends. We’d done like 300 shows in one year and all those other days we were travelling. Fame came to us at a later stage so were grateful for everything we have, and we just weren’t able to say no to anything – because we didn’t know if it was going to come again or going to stop. So God has a way of making you kind of stop. I’m really lucky to have come out the other end.”
Following the surgery Danny had to learn how to sing again, and his bandmates Mark Sheehan and Glen Power have had to be patient with him as he had to build up his vocal stamina again.
He said: “It’s taken us six months to build the stamina back up. I’ve had to learn how to relax more when I’m singing. No tension around the neck area. I couldn’t cough and I couldn’t burp! I had to stay deadly silent. I went through the surgery once, then the doctor had another look and said we didn’t get everything out. So I had to go back in again.”
Discussing how his family and friends reacted to his enforced vow of silence, he added: “They were like, ‘When was the last time you’ve been silent for this amount of time?’ ”
