Kesha to play London’s Electric Brixton

OHMYGOSSIP — Kesha will play a special show at London’s Electric Brixton in November.
The ‘Praying’ hitmaker has announced she will be taking to the stage in the UK once again for a one off special show at the London venue on November 14.
The show will form part of her ‘Rainbow Tour’ in support of her album of the same name, which is set to start making its way across North America later this month.
Kesha said in a statement: “My new album ‘Rainbow’ is dedicated to my fans. And I’m so excited to be able to invite you all to come boogie with me on my new ‘Rainbow Tour’. I would not have made it to this point without my animals and supporters so now come out and join the celebration with me.”
The 30-year-old singer’s tour comes as she has made a triumphant return to the music scene after having taken time off during her gruelling legal battle against former producer Dr. Luke, whom she accused of of sexually abusing her during their time working together.
Kesha previously revealed her highly anticipated album ‘Rainbow’ has been instrumental in pulling her out of the dark place she was left in by the court case.
She said: “This record has quite literally saved my life. I think colour symbolises hope … I’ve always just found the hope in the bright colours and I wanted to bring that more into my everyday life.
“It’s so personal. I’ve written every song on this album and they’re all so personal. This song [‘Praying’], I think, is just really important because it talks about me personally going through something very hard – lots of very hard things – making it through, not giving up, and finding empathy on the other side, which is incredibly hard sometimes.”
Tickets for the Electric Brixton show will go on sale this Friday (15.09.17), and will be available from LiveNation.com

Foo Fighters to open London pub for five days

OHMYGOSSIP — Foo Fighters are opening a pub in east London.
The Foo Fighters Arms will be functional from September 15 and September 20 to coincide with the release of the US rock band’s new album ‘Concrete and Gold’, which drops on Friday (15.09.17).
Fans will be able to pick up exclusive merchandise and limited edition items at the venue on 339 Cambridge Heath Road, including the ‘Run’ hitmakers’ very own beer.
There will also be special events planned during the five-day extravaganza.
Announcing the news on the pub’s website foofightersarms.com, Dave Grohl and co said: “Foo Fighters are proud to announce the opening of the Foo Fighters Arms in London for one week only. Doors will open to the public on 15th September to celebrate the release of their new album Concrete and Gold and will host a series of events for both fans and the general public. There’ll be Foo Fighters beers and exclusive merchandise on sale throughout the week. Keep an eye on the band’s social media channels to find out more. (sic)”
And alongside a poster on their Twitter page, they wrote: “KEEP CALM AND COME ON
http://www.foofightersarms.com/
#ConcreteandGold (sic)”
It comes after it was revealed that Justin Timberlake appears on their ninth studio album.
The ‘SexyBack’ singer ran into the group when they were recording their new LP ‘Concrete and Gold’ at EastWest studios in Los Angeles and quickly hit it off with frontman Dave Grohl, prompting him to ask if he could add his vocals to one of their songs so he had something to boast about to his friends.
Dave said of Justin: “We’d drink whiskey in the parking lot. He was really, really cool. Then the night before his last day, he says, ‘Can I sing on your record? I don’t want to push it, but – I just want to be able to tell my friends.”
The ‘Learn to Fly’ hitmakers agreed and the 36-year-old star recorded some ‘la la la’ sounds for one track.
Dave quipped recently: “He nailed it. I’m telling you – the guy’s going somewhere.”
And Justin isn’t the only famous star to appear on the record because Dave asked his friend Sir Paul McCartney to play drums on one track after the Beatles legend requested to work with their producer, Greg Kurstin, during their recording sessions.

Gary Numan’s global warming anthem

OHMYGOSSIP — Gary Numan has released new song ‘When The World Comes Apart’ about the harsh realities of global warming.
The 59-year-old musician has also dropped an accompanying music video, which was filmed at his recent show in Liverpool.
Gary said of the track from his upcoming LP ‘Savage: Songs From A Broken World’: “‘When The World Comes Apart’ looks at life in a brutal future, in a world devastated by global warming.”
The ‘Cars’ singer has been working on a novel for some time, which has been the inspiration for a lot of the songs on his new record.
And he’ll spend next year touring the album and hopefully getting his head around his “futuristic” tome, though he admits he’s put himself under a lot of “pressure” now he’s spoken about it.
He said previously: “I’ve had my ups and downs but things are going well for me.
“I will be touring this album to the end of 2018 then that’d be a good time to start the next one. Then maybe I’ll get this book finished.
“I need to finish it as it feels like a cop out that I’ve not been able to turn it into a cohesive story yet — even though the album is really that.
“I talk about it so much that I have given myself so much pressure. I want it to be a broad epic.
“For now I will just concentrate on this album as I am proud of what I’ve achieved.”
A description of the narrative of the record reads: “‘Savage: Songs From A Broken World’ is an album with a narrative that’s set in an apocalyptic, post-global warming Earth in the not-too-distant future.
“There is no technology left and most of the planet has turned to a desolate desert wasteland.
“Food is scarce, water even more so and human kindness and decency are just a dim and distant memory.
“Western and Eastern cultures have merged, more because of the need to simply survive than any feelings of greater tolerance or understanding.
“It’s a harsh, savage environment, as are the survivors who still roam across it.”
‘When The World Comes Apart’ is available as instant grat to those who have pre-ordered ‘Savage’ – the follow-up to 2013’s ‘Splinter (Songs from a Broken Mind)’ – which is released on September 15.

Avicii documentary hits screens in October

OHMYGOSSIP — Avicii is set to release a documentary about his meteoric rise to fame and his decision to quit touring.
The 27-year-old Swedish DJ – real name Tim Bergling – took a break from the music industry in early 2016 after he announced he would no longer be playing live shows due to the gruelling schedule affecting his health.
However, the ‘Wake Me Up’ hitmaker recently returned to the spotlight with a five-track EP – which saw him team up with the likes of Rita Ora, Sandro Cavazza, and AlunaGeorge – which fans can listen to on the star’s specially-curated YouTube playlist.
‘Avicii: True Stories’ features guest appearances from Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Nile Rodgers, David Guetta and Wyclef Jean.
It tells the cautionary tale that explores the taxing nature and intensity of fame from the artist’s point of view as much as it is a film for Avicii’s die-hard fans.
Filmmaker Levan Tsikurishvili has helmed the film and said it was important that the movie was “brutally honest” and showed the real man behind the stage name.
He explained: “I wanted to do a brutally honest film about Tim as a person and not only about Avicii.
“Everybody knows Avicii but very few people know Tim.
“I think this documentary really shows Tim’s struggle and strength of character. Being a worldwide superstar artist is not as easy as it looks on Instagram.”
Piece of Magic Entertainment will be premiering ‘Avicii: True Stories’ worldwide on October 26 in selected cinemas.
The showings will be followed by a 30-minute concert film of Avicii’s final show in Ibiza from August 28, 2016.

Rag ‘n’ Bone Man’s hip-hop album

OHMYGOSSIP — Rag ‘n’ Bone Man’s next album will be hip-hop heavy.
The ‘Skin’ hitmaker – who recently welcomed his first child, baby son Reuben with his girlfriend Beth Rouy – has declared his love for the genre and can’t wait to get back into the studio to start working on ideas.
He said: “I get to back into the studio really soon and etch out what the new album is gonna sound like.
“What I really want to do is a hip-hip album.”
The 32-year-old singer – whose real name is Rory Graham – has been heavily influenced by the American hip-hop production trio Organized Noize and plans on emulating their style.
He told NME: “Even though they were a hip-hop outfit, they have an arranger on the keys and they used the same bass player on everything. I think that’s how they came up with such a distinctive sound. I have one of the best bass players I have ever heard in my band. My keys player is incredible at coming up with parts. So I’m like, ‘Why don’t I utilise those amazing people.”
Rory has had a phenomenal year with the success of his critically-acclaimed debut LP ‘Human’ and has won countless awards including the Best British Breakthrough BRIT Award. and he’ll top it off by headlining Edinburgh’s Hogmanay 2018 on December 31.
10,000 tickets to Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Concert in the Gardens will go on sale on Tuesday 12 September at 9.00am at edinburghshogmanay.com
Support acts will be announced in due course.

Drake reveals his improbable inspiration

OHMYGOSSIP — Drake’s music career was inspired by basketball star Vince Carter.
The chart-topping rapper has been credited with helping to put the Canadian city of Toronto on the map, but Drake believes the American basketball player – who starred for the Toronto Raptors between 1998 and 2004 – should take much of the credit.
Speaking in promotion of the new documentary ‘The Carter Effect’, Drake explained to Billboard: “It just let me know that it was possible. It was confidence. It was the realisation that it was attainable.
“This guy could come over here and lift us up. Imagine if it was one of us that could make it out there.”
Despite being one of the best-selling artists in the world, Drake revealed earlier this year that he also has aspirations outside of the music industry.
The Canadian star admitted he would love to become a respected actor in the coming years.
He said: “Acting is another thing that I just can’t wait to really dive into, I think after I release ‘More Life’, which is this playlist I’m working on and finish this tour.
“I think I’m going to really start to position myself in the acting world and, hopefully, take some great roles.”
Drake also suggested he’d like to become a late-night TV talk-show host.
He explained: “I hope to get there one day where I put on amazing suits every night.
“Just put on Tom Ford every night, sit with a glass of wine, and laugh with people that I’ve spent years with in the business, or friends of mine, and give people something to watch every night that makes them feel good and laugh.”

Ronnie Wood returns to stage after cancer battle

OHMYGOSSIP — Ronnie Wood returned to stage for the first time since his battle with lung cancer on Saturday night (09.09.17).
The 70-year-old guitarist was told he had the disease in May and underwent successful keyhole surgery, but he was back on form when he joined his Rolling Stones bandmates – Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts – for the opening night of their European ‘No Filter’ tour at the Stadtpark stadium in Hamburg, Germany.
The ‘Satisfaction’ hitmaker said it was a “gift” to be back doing what he loves after spending four months getting through treatment, and how they were overjoyed with the reaction to their return.
Ronnie – who was joined by his wife Sally and their 16-month-old twins Gracie and Alice at the gig – said: “We’re all equally surprised at how great the vibe is, because we love to make people happy with our music, and it seems to work.
“It’s like a gift that can’t be bought. It’s an amazing feeling.”
Keith, 73, previously reassured fans that the veteran rock band – who have been going strong for more than five decades – still have plenty of life in them yet.
He said: “We haven’t finished yet. It’s still too early for me to talk about the Stones’ legacy. There’s one thing that we haven’t yet achieved, and that’s to really find out how long you can do this.
“It’s still such a joy to play with this band that you can’t really let go of it. I’m more interested in learning how far this bunch can take it.”
Frontman Sir Mick, 74, concluded that he is blessed to still be performing with his best friends, but admitted he had no idea quite how they’ve come so far.
He added: “It’s incredible to think about working with the same band for more than 50 years.
“Of course, members have come and gone, but it is still the Rolling Stones. Inevitably it makes you think about the mortality of it. But here we are making plans.”
The Stones debuted their brand new stage design and set list at the concert, which included ‘Just Your Fool’ and ‘Ride ‘Em On Down’ from their latest record ‘Blue and Lonesome’.
Fan requested ‘Under My Thumb’ and early numbers ‘Play With Fire’ and ‘Dancing With Mr D’ from 1973’s ‘Goats Head Soup’ were also among 23 songs played.
The Stones continue their tour on Tuesday (12.09.17) at the Olympic Park in Munich.

Liam Gallagher slams emotional Noel

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has slammed his brother Noel Gallagher’s emotional performance at the We Are Manchester benefit concert, insisting his sibling “doesn’t give a f**k” about the victims of a terrorist attack in their home city.
The 50-year-old rocker was tearful as he sang ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ at the reopening of Manchester Arena on Saturday (09.09.17) and while he urged the crowd to sing along to the “anthem of defiance” in a showing of solidarity towards those affected by the bombing at the venue after an Ariana Grande concert in May, his younger sibling and former Oasis bandmate insists Noel wasn’t being sincere.
He tweeted: “NG broke down in tears cmon you seriously ain’t buying that. He doesn’t give a f**k.
“Don’t buy into his PR stunt. He doesn’t give a f**k. If the same thing had have gone on in Edinburgh he’d been up there like a shot ahem.(sic)”
The 44-year-old singer had previously blasted his brother for not taking part in the One Love Manchester show, which was organised by Ariana on June 4.
He tweeted after the show: “What an amazing night last night pure love vibrations nobody comes close to Manchester love forever LG x
“Oh and if anybody’s seen rkid tell him he can come out now as you were LG x
“Manchester id like to apologize for my brothers absence last night very disappointed stay beautiful stay safe LG x
“Noels out of the f***ing country weren’t we all love get on a f***ing plane and play your tunes for the kids you sad f**k (sic)”
However, it was later claimed that Noel – who donated the profits from ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ to the Manchester Memorial Fund – wasn’t actually invited to perform at the event.
A source said: “Noel has been getting a real bashing for not being at the gig, which is totally out of order. He’s been hugely supportive of the cause but hasn’t gone public as, in his mind, it’s not about him.
“The fact he wasn’t asked to even perform at any point by any of the organisers makes a mockery of Liam’s claims.”

Paul McCartney arranged Dave Grohl’s leg surgery

OHMYGOSSIP — Dave Grohl “would not be walking” without the support of Sir Paul McCartney.
The Foo Fighters frontman suffered a broken leg after falling off stage in Sweden in 2015 and he revealed that not only has the Beatles legend always been a huge source of inspiration to him, the ‘Hey Jude’ hitmaker also arranged for him to have surgery to repair his damaged limb.
He told the Herald Sun newspaper: “He and his family basically set up my entire surgery in London after I broke my leg. It still blows my mind.
“I wouldn’t be playing music if it wasn’t for Paul McCartney because I learned how to play guitar with Beatles songbooks and playing along to Beatles records.
“But I also would not be walking right now if it was not for Paul McCartney. He knows some good f***ing doctors.”
Dave recently revealed Paul appears on the new Foo Fighters album, ‘Concrete and Gold’.
He asked his pal to play drums on one track in exchange for freeing their producer, Greg Kurstin, to work with him.
Paul initially replied: “You’re crazy, man!”
But he quickly agreed, having previously enjoyed jamming with the band on Dave’s ‘Sound City’ documentary in 2013.
He said: “Even if it had been banjo, I think I probably would have showed up.”
And the 75-year-old musician impressed the band with his drumming skills, with his first take of two being used on the finished track.
Drummer Taylor Hawkins said: “You don’t generally think of him as a drummer. But he laid that track so f***ing effortlessly. He never even heard the song – Dave kind of explained it to him with an acoustic guitar. And he was like, ‘Yeah, yeah. I think I know what you’re doing.’ ”
Paul had such a great time in the studio, he was keen to do more with them.
Dave recalled: “He was so f***ing good.
“We played for an hour, then took a break and had bagels and tea. I thought we were done – I didn’t want to rag him out – so I was out having a cig, and someone goes, ‘Hey, Paul wants to jam some more.’ He rounded everybody up, and we jammed for hours: ‘Let’s write some songs, man!’ ”
Paul quipped: “Well, you know. Once you get the meter running.”

Nicole Scherzinger insisted on a solo deal

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicole Scherzinger insisted on a solo deal when she joined Pussycat Dolls.
The brunette beauty was happy to join the all-girl band, having previously rejected will.i.am’s offer for her to be a part of Black Eyed Peas, but her ultimate dream was to be a singer in her own right and she saw the group as a stepping stone to achieve that – so was surprised at how much success the ‘Don’t Cha’ hitmakers achieved.
She explained to Cosmopolitan magazine: “When I got offered The Pussycat Dolls, I said, ‘I will be in the group but I want a solo deal as well.’ I knew that was my dream.
“I didn’t realise how big Pussycat Dolls was going to be.
“Anybody who has made sacrifices knows that you have to do it on your own. Ambition is incredible, you need it to get anywhere in life.”
However, the 39-year-old singer was devoted to the group and she finds it frustrating that people don’t give her the “respect” she feels she deserves as an artist and performer, insisting she is more than just a “senseless pop star”.
She said: “Over the years, I’ve had to earn people’s understanding and respect for what I do as an artist and vocalist.
“People don’t realise the Pussycat Doll albums were my babies – I did everything from executive producing to vocally arranging them.
“It still frustrates my friends and family when they hear people say, ‘Oh wow, she can sing?’ I have studied my craft and there is meaning, heart and soul in what I do.
“People can overlook you and think you’re just some senseless pop star who can’t really sing.
“If you come to one of my shows, you would never think that. I feel like girls have to work extra hard to earn respect.”

Avril Lavigne returns to stage

OHMYGOSSIP — Avril Lavigne made her first appearance on stage in three years on Friday (08.09.17).
The ‘Complicated’ hitmaker joined her ex-husband Chad Kroeger and his band Nickelback at their concert at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, California, to perform their song ‘Rockstar’ along with a fan named Owen, who had been pulled out of the crowd by guitarist Ryan Peake.
Nickelback tweeted afterward: “You never know who will join us for ‘Rockstar’ karaoke. And tonight we got super lucky with these two rockstars. It just might be you next!”
They later added in a post retweeted by Avril: “Any stage @AvrilLavigne graces is instantly better off for it. Blessed to have had her join us.”
The ‘Boyfriend’ singer – who was previously married to Deryck Whibley for three years until 2009 and Chad for two years until 2015 – recently revealed fans will be able to hear new music soon.
The 32-year-old star has stayed largely out of the spotlight over the last two years after contracting debilitating Lyme Disease, but has been working hard on her comeback.
“To my fans. I just want to thank everyone for their patience as I work on putting together this new album. It’s been a long recovery and I want to make sure that this is perfect for you guys!!
“You only deserve my best effort and that’s what I’m going to deliver! I can’t wait to share the new music I’m working on, I promise it’ll be here before you know it!! Love you, Avril. (sic)”
Avril hasn’t released a new record since her 2013 self-titled fifth studio album, and in December the star revealed plans to drop music this year and admitted her fight against the disease will be reflected in the lyrics.
She wrote: “It hasn’t just been a hard battle but it’s also been enlightening and will reflect in my new music, artistry, life, and personally.
“I will always continue to make it a priority to fight and raise awareness about Lyme Disease with the Avril Lavigne foundation. I’m really happy to announce that I am now working on new music and I will be releasing a new album in 2017. I can’t wait to open up and share my heart with you! I’m excited for you guys to hear the new songs. It’s going to be an amazing 2017! (sic)”

Noel Gallagher leads emotional singalong

OHMYGOSSIP — Noel Gallagher led the crowd in an emotional rendition of ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’ at the We Are Manchester benefit concert on Saturday (09.09.17).
The former Oasis frontman headlined the reopening of Manchester Arena – which has been closed since a terrorist attack at an Ariana Grande concert in May – in a fundraising show honouring the victims of the bombing, and used his set to hail his home city as the “greatest in England”.
Before performing ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’, he said: “So for any of you that doubt it-and some people doubt that Manchester is the greatest city in England…
“I was sat watching Sky News and watching the minute silence. And one girl that was there and sang this song. And I don’t know if you’re here tonight, but I love you.”
He described the 1996 track as becoming an “anthem of defiance”.
He added: “And every time you sing we win. So sing like you’ve never sung”.
The 50-year-old rocker performed a nine-song track, featuring a selection of solo material, including hit singles ‘Everybody’s On the Run’ and ‘Heat of the Moment’, and Oasis classics including ‘Champagne Supernova’, ‘Wonderwall’, and b-side ‘Half the World Away’.
Noel was introduced to the stage by comic Peter Kay – a former steward at the venue who went on to play over 40 gigs there – with a heartfelt speech.
He said: “There’s been a lot of joy in this room over the years, including the night of 22 May, right up until the terrorist attack.
“These last four months have been incredibly painful. Horrendous is putting it mildly. But that’s why you’re here – because we can’t let terrorists win.
“And I know the memories of that night will stay with us for a very long time but we’ve got to remember the good times and let them outweigh the bad.
“The victims will never ever be forgotten, but we’ve got to move forward with love and not hate, and that’s how we win.”
The night began with Mayor Andy Burnham taking to the stage to read the names of the 23 victims who lost their lives whilst Poet Tony Walsh read out a poignant tribute.
Reciting ‘This is the Place’, he said: “The world is watching, the world is listening and the world now knows that this is the place. We are beautiful, we are multi-cultural, we are Manchester, we are magnificent and we are back.”
Other artists who performed included Blossoms, The Courteeners, Pixie Lott, and Rick Astley, who sang Foo Fighters’ hit ‘Everlong’.
The event – which was attended by 14,000 people – was staged in aid of raising funds for a permanent memorial for those who lost their life in the devastating attack.

Brandon Flowers: I cancelled a tour because my wife was suicidal

OHMYGOSSIP — Brandon Flowers cancelled a tour because his wife was suicidal.
The Killers frontman pulled out of a string of solo concerts in August 2015 and he has now revealed it was because his spouse Tana was in the grip of an extreme form of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), known as Complex PTSD, and she needed his support.
He said: “I cancelled that tour, because she got to a point – this is really hard for me to even say the words – but she was having suicidal thoughts. That was as bad as it got.”
The ‘Man’ singer admits he and his spouse – who have sons Ammon, Gunnar and Henry together – have been through a “horrible” time and wouldn’t have “made it” if Tana hadn’t sought treatment.
He said: “It’s been… wild. It’s been horrible…
“What separates Complex PTSD from other forms is that it involves multiple traumatic events.
“It’s not just one thing that triggers it. There are so many things that have happened to her. I didn’t understand it before. And no way would we have made it without her getting help.”
As a result of Tana’s struggles, the family are moving away from Las Vegas to Utah, where Brandon spent much of his childhood.
He explained to Q magazine: “The whole town in tainted for her. I’ve got these streets and areas that I’m nostalgic about. But to her it might remind her of something different that triggers [her illness]. So I’m leaving my town because it’s going to be better for her.
“It’s bittersweet. But I also have great memories of being a kid in Utah. There’s a little bit more freedom there, so I’m excited. I’m looking forward to the snow with my kids and bringing home our first Christmas tree.”
Much of The Killers’ new album, ‘Wonderful Wonderful’, was inspired by Tana’s condition, and though she was initially reluctant to have her problems made public, the 36-year-old singer believes the record has brought them closer together.
He shared: “It helped me understand what she was going through because I could put words to it, wrap my head around it and really navigate it. A lot of relationships fall apart when these things happen. As a songwriter, I had to dissect it.”

Sam Smith’s voice has improved since cutting dairy

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Smith thinks his voice is at its “best” because he’s given up alcohol and cheese.
The 25-year-old singer recently released his new single ‘Too Good at Goodbyes’ from his upcoming second album – which he has teased will be released before Christmas – and has said he’s proud of his vocals at the moment as putting down the bottle and stopping himself from indulging in the dairy product has helped his voice be “the best its ever felt”.
Sam said: “My voice is good. Best it has ever felt. I’m not drinking at the moment. I’m not having dairy which is super boring. I miss cheese. I just miss cheese so much.”
And the ‘Stay With Me’ singer is hoping to hold off on the booze until Christmas.
He added to The Sun newspaper: “I’ve made a bet with my manager that I’m not going to drink a drop of alcohol until Christmas Eve, which is really difficult.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Writing’s on the Wall’ hitmaker recently revealed his upcoming album is set to be “so personal”, and he’s nervous about releasing the record because its like “publishing [his] diary”.
Asked why he’s nervous to drop the album – which is the follow-up to 2014’s ‘In The Lonely Hour’ – Sam said: “Do you know what? It’s because the music is so personal. And more than ever with this album and this song, it’s like I’m publishing my diary. That’s how it feels. It’s more personal, this record, as album, than the first one.”
Sam didn’t intend to make his album so emotional, but says he writes from personal experiences and happened to have “a deep few years” whilst penning the record.
When asked if he meant to be so personal, he said: “It’s just something that happens. It’s whatever happens in my life, you know? And it was quite a deep few years.”

Shania Twain: Contracting Lyme Disease was a ‘blessing in disguise’

OHMYGOSSIP — Shania Twain thinks contracting Lyme disease was a “blessing in disguise” as the illness forced her to take a break.
The ‘Still the One’ hitmaker was left fearing for her career when she contracted the debilitating condition because it affected her vocal chords, and though she was distraught at the idea of not making another record, she’s grateful it forced her to take time out as she was able to help her 16-year-old son Eja – who she has with ex-husband Robert ‘Mutt’ Lange – have a “normal upbringing”.
She said: “I was able to do performances but couldn’t commit to recording an album, which is different; it’s a permanent imprint of your instrument.
“But it was a blessing in disguise. I have appreciation for the break – I love domestic life and would have regretted missing it.
“My son Eja has had a normal upbringing – it’s been the best of all worlds, in the end.”
And the 52-year-old singer – who is now married to Frederic Thiebaud – admits she’d have mourned for the rest of the life if she’d had to quit singing.
She told the Radio Times: “It was devastating. I would have grieved every day for the rest of my life if I hadn’t got [my voice] back.
“I knew I’d always have a life in music, because other people could record my songs, but I was sad to lose the joy of singing.”
The Canadian singer feels she’s faced a long battle to be accepted in country music and now feels more “respected” than ever before.
She said: “I feel more part of the Nashville scene that I ever did.
When I first went there I wasn’t accepted, I was an outsider.
“I wasn’t American, I wasn’t traditional, and they didn’t know what to think of me, so I wasn’t embraced quickly or easily.
“Now I have a large display in the Hall of Fame museum in Nashville and I’m openly respected, it’s an accomplishment.
“I’ve finally got their attention – it’s a wonderful feeling.”

Plan B: Fame left me feeling ’empty’

OHMYGOSSIP — Plan B was left feeling “pretty empty” by fame.
The 33-year-old musician took a break from the spotlight after six years of huge success between 2006 and 2012, and admitted he was left with nothing to write about because of the lack of “real relationships” in his life.
He said: “The industry of fame. Being famous, being in demand, doing gigs – just doing that s**t all the time.
“You don’t have any real relationships – you have no time for a private life.
“I was sitting down going, ‘What do I write about now?’ You think about what you’ve experienced, getting on planes, getting the red carpet rolled out, partying, hanging with beautiful women you never see again, drinking … I needed to turn my back on that. I was feeling pretty empty inside.”
However, the ‘She Said’ hitmaker’s break didn’t turn out as exactly how he’d planned because after making the decision to take time out, he found out his girlfriend was pregnant.
But he was delighted with the news and having the chance to “reconnect spiritually” and achieve a new focus.
He told Q magazine: “Just as I made that decision, my partner turns round and says we’re having a baby.
“I thought, ‘There goes those three years!’ Ironically it was exactly what I asked for.
“I wanted to reconnect spiritually and nothing gets more real than that.
“That completely aligned me on a path of what’s most important. Everything is laid out on a plate for you, not just women throwing themselves at you, it’s parties, it’s alcohol – it’s all of that.
“I’ve got a kid that I need to be there for, I can’t be out all night getting smashed. I want my daughter to grow up having a father in her life.”
