Jennifer Lopez sings better in Spanish

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lopez thinks she “sings better” in Spanish.
The ‘On the Floor’ hitmaker feels more comfortable singing in English but had a great time recording her new Latin album ‘Por Primera Vez’ because the language is more “romantic and passionate”.
She said: “Obviously I’m more comfortable in English and that’s no secret to anybody, but I really love singing in Spanish.
“There’s just something about it that is more romantic and passionate to me, and that’s such a core part of who I am. I feel like I sing better in Spanish.”
And Jennifer relished the “challenge” of pushing herself to try new things on the record.
She told Britain’s HELLO! magazine: “We’re all interpreting songs as we go through life, right?
“The song ‘Ni Tu Ni Yo’ was difficult – I’m attracted towards things that seem impossible. I’m more complex now.
“I love hit songs but I also want to be at another level where I feel, again, that I’m growing and challenging myself.
“It really comes down to, ‘Do I respond to what the song is saying? Is it what I want to say?’ And then I say, ‘This is hard’. But then I go, ‘OK, let me try it.’ ”
The 48-year-old singer worked with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony – the father of her nine-year-old twins Max and Emme – on the album, and his different way of recording helped her get something different out of the songs.
She explained: “He records everything in ballad form first, just with the piano.
“We approached it like he approaches his albums, even though we weren’t making a salsa album.
“He feels you should be able to play great songs simply on a piano, just like that. And so we started from there with everything.
“We didn’t know what sound to go for and how we were going to produce the album as far as making these up-tempo songs because he takes all these ballads and makes them into salsa songs, and now he takes these ballad songs and finds the songs for me.”

Marilyn Manson influenced by Rihanna

OHMYGOSSIP — Marilyn Manson’s new album is influenced by Rihanna.
The 48-year-old rocker spent a lot of time listening to the ‘Work’ hitmaker’s 2016 record ‘Anti’ during breaks from recording his own new LP ‘ Heaven Upside Down’.
He said: “The most surprising record that people won’t think I listened to when making my new album and that had an influence on me in a strange, very distracted, not literal way is Rihanna’s last album.
“I felt like it was the rawest thing I’d heard. It seemed like she was being for real.
“Being a bitch when she wanted to be a bitch and being honest when she wanted to be honest.”
And the ‘Beautiful People’ hitmaker can see similarities between Rihanna and his former mentor, Nine Inch Nails singer Trent Reznor.
He told Q magazine: “In the past [Trent and I] had a falling out but we’re close again now.
“He still believes in why he signed me to his label.
“I was really impressed by his performance in the new ‘Twin Peaks’. He still likes danger and there is nothing dangerous in music any more, except a few things like Rihanna. She’s dangerous.
“And I am, especially if you get me drunk. I’ll fight you.”
Manson previously hailed Rihanna as “hardcore”.
He said: “All of her videos are. I love the ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’ video the most because A, it’s hardcore, B, because it puts a bitch having her money type, and C, because Mads Mikkelsen of ‘Hannibal’ the TV show, my favourite show, is in it. And then, D, if I’m still doing letters; that she swings a girl naked back and forth, gives her crack, kills her and has a yacht, she has a flare gun. And somehow my video is more offensive?”

Liam Gallagher hits out at brother Noel over ticket prices

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has slammed his brother Noel for charging up to $350 for a ticket to see High Flying Birds in America.
The 44-year-old rocker has been feuding with his older brother ever since their band Oasis split in 2009, and in his latest Twitter rant, Liam slammed the star for placing the hefty price tag on an “enhanced experience” VIP ticket for the dates on his upcoming North American tour.
Liam tweeted: “350 dollars to go and see rkid in USA what a **** when will it all stop as you were LG x (sic)”
In a second tweet, the ‘Wall of Glass’ hitmaker branded Noel’s band High Flying Birds as “Beady lite”, after former Oasis members Chris Sharrock and Gem Archer – who formed Beady Eye with Liam after the break-up of the ‘Wonderwall’ rockers – recently joined the line-up.
He wrote: “3 hundred and 50 f***ing dollars to go see Beady lite you lot need your heads testing as you were LG x (sic)”
Beady Eye released two albums, ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding’ in 2011 and ‘BE’ in 2013, before Liam announced their split in 2014.
The tweets come just days after Liam previously hit out at his 50-year-old sibling for claiming his upcoming third record ‘Who Built The Moon?’ is “psychedelic”, as he compared it to “vegetarian trying to sell you a kebab”.
The ‘For What It’s Worth’ singer also said that Noel will need more than his pals Paul Weller and Johnny Marr to make an “out there” record.
In a series of tweets, Liam wrote: “Psychedelic music by a beige drip is like a vegetarian trying to sell you a kebab as you were LG x … It takes more than wheeling out your old mate uri geller and har mar superstar to make a so called out there record snoozer as you were LG (sic)”
Weller plays the organ on ‘Holy Mountain and guitarist Marr has recorded guitars and harmonicas on ‘If Love Is The Law’ on the LP.

Jessie Ware ‘lost herself’ writing her latest album

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessie Ware was warned she’d “lost” herself as a songwriter during the making of her new album.
The 32-year-old singer – who is set to release her third album, ‘Glasshouse’, in October – has revealed that after playing some of her new music to her long-time collaborator Benny Blanco, he told the ‘Wildest Moments’ hitmaker that the material didn’t sound like her.
The singer shared: “He said it sounded like I’d lost myself a bit.
“I was pregnant and scared about providing for my child, so my first thought was, ‘I have to write a hit’.
“Then I threw all of that out of the window and tried to make music I enjoyed. That’s when I feel like my personality came back. I don’t know if I wrote a hit but I definitely wrote music that I like more.”
Jessie gave birth to her first child – a baby girl – with husband Sam Burrows in September last year, and she admitted it’s transpired to be a turning point in her musical career.
She told the i newspaper: “It was the best thing that could have happened for my work. I wrote eight of the 12 new songs since she’s been born.
“She’s made me more focused and more driven. I’m more decisive now.”
Jessie – whose song about her husband, called ‘Sam’, was co-written by Ed Sheeran – revealed that much of her new album will focus on her family life.
She explained: “It’s about Sam, it’s about my mother, it’s about waiting to be a mum.
“[Sam] is so oblivious that I’ve written a lot of songs about him. He doesn’t need this adoration or acknowledgement, he’s pretty secure in our relationship.
“But I rely on him. He makes it all possible.”

Lady Gaga mistook The Killers for Brits

OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Gaga once mistook The Killers for being British.
The 31-year-old star cited the chart-topping band from Las Vegas in America as one of her favourite British groups and, looking back on the incident, lead singer Brandon Flowers can now understand why Gaga made that error.
He explained: “I once saw an interview where people asked Lady Gaga who her favourite British bands were, and she said The Killers and the Pet Shop Boys.
“We didn’t think like that at the time. That was the type of music we wanted to make and that was what was coming out of us.
“Now, looking back on it, I see it. There’s a melancholy to it that kind of exists in Britain that we don’t necessarily tap into in the US.”
The band freely concede that their Brit-friendly sound was a pure accident, but Brandon also acknowledged it’s unlikely they will ever be able to distance themselves from it.
Brandon – whose group released their fifth studio album, ‘Wonderful Wonderful’, earlier this month – told Vevo: “We weren’t joking when we said that British music has become part of our DNA. It’s in there now and I don’t think it’ll ever go away.”
Brandon also previously slammed the quality of music being produced in the US, saying what he hears on the radio is “awful”.
He explained: “Some bands are scared of success, but I can’t understand that.
“To some people, success means having a record deal and being able to pay the bills. This band want to take things as far as we can.
“But, ultimately, we just want to make good records. The music I hear on the radio in America is awful, so we have to do something. And, in terms of confidence, I’m slowly getting there.”

Macklemore: There’s few great white rappers

OHMYGOSSIP — Macklemore doesn’t think there are many “great” white rappers.
The ‘Marmalade’ hitmaker insists there are far more caucasian acts making hip-hop music than people think, but they don’t have the talent to take it further.
Asked by talk show host Chelsea Handler why there aren’t “more white rappers”, he hesitantly said: “Oh God… White rappers, I think there’s a lot of us, I think there are not a lot of great ones.”
When the ‘Chelsea’ host quipped that there was him and Eminem, he replied: “There’s more than that, there’s definitely more than that. I takes a lot of… It takes a lot of, I don’t know…”
While Macklemore, 34, struggled to answer that question, he had no problem explaining the difference between rap and hip-hop, insisting the latter was more of a lifestyle.
He said: “Rap is something that you do, hip-hop is something that you live – that would be like from the purest hip-hop standpoint.
“Rap is an element of the culture so it’s a part of the craft.”
Meanwhile, Macklemore recently revealed he is expecting his second child with wife Tricia, a sibling for their two-year-old daughter Sloane.
In a video posted on Instagram, the ‘Thrift Shop’ star played a trick on fans when he claimed they would be cutting a gender reveal cake – but instead pulled out a piece of paper which announced he would be adding an additional date to his tour in his native Seattle.
He said: “I woke up today, and I had an idea. You guys have been such a huge part of our lives, that I wanted to let you in on a little secret. Tricia is pregnant, and today we’re going to find out the gender of our child.
“We’re having a second night at Key Arena! Oh my god! Key Arena night two, tickets on sale tomorrow!”

Krept and Konan release two tracks from their new mixtapes

OHMYGOSSIP — Krept & Konan have released the first two tracks from their mixtapes ‘7 Days’ and ‘7 Nights’.
The British rap duo – whose real names are Casyo Johnson and Karl Wilson – have decided to release new material and the accompanying music videos simultaneously, with both tracks, ‘Wo Wo Wo’ and ‘For Me’, debuting on BBC 1Xtra.
‘7 Days’ and ‘7 Night’s represent a landmark moment for the UK’s music industry, with no homegrown artist having ever previously released two mixtapes on the same day.
The new tunes are intended to represent the two distinctly different sounds of Krept & Konan.
‘7 Days’, for example, features a harder edge and gritty club records, as well as guest appearances from the likes of J Hus, Skepta and Stormzy.
On the other hand, ‘7 Nights’ boasts a smoother, sultry sound, with Jhene Aiko, Hudson East and Tory Lanez all making cameos on the record.
Krept & Konan released their debut album, ‘The Long Way Home’, in 2015 and the record entered at Number 1 on the UK R&B Chart and UK Digital Chart.
Since then, the duo have been on a sold out headline UK tour, as well as a pan European double headline tour with Ty Dolla $ign.
Konan previously claimed that although their early success has increased the expectations surrounding their music, they both feel as though they thrive on pressure.
Speaking previously, the hip-hop star explained: “I feel like we win when we’re under pressure.
“We’re hard workers as it is so there being under pressure just pushes us to our limits. I feel like pressure is a good thing. Having pressure is just a bonus for us, because we can’t lose. We can’t afford to lose. We’ve got to get this right, we’ve got to win.”

Elton John announces new greatest hits

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Elton John will make 50 years of his working partnership with Bernie Taupin with a new greatest hits collection.
The ‘Rocket Man’ hitmaker will release ‘Diamonds’ – described as his “ultimate” collection – on November 10 and has paid tribute to the “amazing respect and love” he shares with his songwriting partner.
He said: “We are at 50 years, and our relationship is healthier than it’s ever been. There have been times in our relationship when we’ve written with other people, but it still didn’t stop the love.
“I love Bernie more than I’ve ever done and I think he probably feels the same way about me, because we’ve both led separate lives; we both write in separate rooms.
“We have an amazing respect and love for each other that’s only grown.”
And Bernie, 67, thinks working with Elton, 70, still feels as unique and fresh as ever.
He said: “We still get a kick out of what we do; it’s what we do – when we come together and write something, it still has that magical quality to it – it doesn’t get any better than that. That feeling hasn’t aged.”
‘Diamonds’ will be available on 2CD – featuring 34 tracks and a 10-page illustrated booklet – 2LP gatefold vinyl, a 3CD limited-edition box set, and digital formats.
The box set contains 34 tracks over two discs, plus 17 bonus tracks of personal favourites curated by Elton himself.
And fans will also love the included 72-page hardback book, which contains annotations for the stories from each song, plus a set of five postcard illustrations of Elton.
The LP contains 21 tracks.
All illustrations are by contemporary artist Richard Kilroy.

Lance Bass would never say never to *NSYNC reunion tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Lance Bass would “never say never” to a *NSYNC reunion tour.
The 38-year-old singer hasn’t ruled out the possibility of the band reuniting and heading back out on the road.
He said: “I mean, anything is possible, of course. It’s not something that we’re talking about, but never say never.”
Whilst there are no plans for a tour as of yet, Lance did reveal the group are getting back together to attend the ceremony for their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
He explained: “We’ll be getting back together in a few months when we get our star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We’re just planning that celebration right now. It’ll be really fun!”
The band like to stay in touch regularly and Lance has a group chat with Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick where they reminisce about the old times.
He shared to InStyle magazine: “Joey sent around an old video where he was flipping Chris onstage, and Chris landed on his head. It was a major flip fail that I don’t even remember happening because I was on the other side of the stage. So we’ve been having a lot of fun with that one.”
It comes after Justin Timberlake revealed he had left *NSYNC because he felt he was “growing out of it”.
Speaking about the split, he said recently: “We were on a stadium tour, and I just felt like the whole thing was too big. It started as a fun snowball fight that was becoming an avalanche.
“And, also, I was growing out of it. I felt like I cared more about the music than some of the other people in the group. And I felt like I had other music I wanted to make and that I needed to follow my heart.”

Chris Cornell planned Audioslave reunion

OHMYGOSSIP — Chris Cornell planned an Audioslave reunion before his death.
The band’s frontman took his own life in May aged 52 but after the US rockers had reunited at the Anti-Inaugural Ball concert in Los Angeles, their first gig together for 12 years, he told his band members he would be keen to hook up again for more concerts.
Lead guitarist Tom Morello said: “Just that night, the last thing Chris said to me was, ‘I had a great time, let’s do this again, just let me know when.’ And we started talking about maybe doing some sort of similar thing where maybe it would be a Prophets Of Rage show and then we would drop an Audioslave set into the middle of it, and we’d have a ball.”
Tom admitted Chris’ sudden passing was a “horrible tragedy”, but he is so glad he and fellow Audioslave members Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk got to share one last moment on stage with him before he departed.
He said: “I just say ‘thank god we played it’, you know? Audioslave hadn’t played in 12 years, although I’d played another show with Chris about a year before that.
“And it was wonderful to be close friends and to rock again and to play some Audioslave songs and stand next to him onstage with his – you know – his rock god powerful self, and his amazing voice and his amazing hair and his amazing whole thing, you know? It was wonderful.
“And we hung out afterwards and it was lovely, and we talked about doing it again. And now he’s gone. It’s a horrible tragedy for those of us who knew and loved him and it’s a horrible tragedy for music. Because he’s one of the best of all time.”
What’s more, Tom revealed there are some previously unreleased Audioslave tracks which will probably drop one day – but not just yet.
Speaking to digital magazine Music Feeds, he added: “From each of the three records there are some really great songs that did not – for reasons that had nothing to do with quality of song – did not make the cut on those records. And I’m sure they’ll come out at some point. But, you know, not right now.
“There are no plans to put it out but it does exist and I don’t think anyone’s opposed to it coming out at some point.”

The ‘Starship Trooper’ rockers – comprised of Steve Howe (guitars), Alan White (drums), Geoff Downes (keyboards), Billy Sherwood (bass) and Jon Davison (vocals) – have combined the songs from their 1980 album ‘Drama’ and side one and four from 1973’s double-LP ‘Tales From Topographic Oceans’, as well as, fan favourites recorded from their 2016 US tour.

When Yes were inducted into the Hall of Fame in April, former frontman Jon reunited with his bandmates for the first since May 2008, when their 40th anniversary ‘Close to the Edge and Back Tour’ was abruptly cancelled after he suffered an asthma attack and was later diagnosed with acute respiratory failure.

Liam Gallagher releases Greedy Soul

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has released ‘Greedy Soul’ from his debut solo LP ‘As You Were’.
The former Oasis frontman performed the song live on ‘Later… With Jools Holland’ earlier this week, and the fourth single from the record is now available to stream on Spotify and purchase on iTunes.
After performing the track on the BBC Two music show, the 45-year-old rocker took to Twitter to reveal legendary songwriter Jimmy Webb told him the lyric, “And it’s a long way down, when you’re the wrong way round”, is “one of the finest lyrics”.
Liam wrote: “Jimmy Webb said tnight that it’s along way down when your the wrong way round was 1 of the finest lyrics he’s ever heard as you were LG x (sic)”
‘Greedy Soul’ was co-written with Adele and Foo Fighters producer Greg Kurstin and has been speculated to be about the ‘Songbird’ songwriter’s bitter rival and sibling Noel Gallagher – who he has barley spoken to since the ‘Some Might Say’ rockers split in 2009 after an on-stage bust-up at a show in Paris, but regularly throws jibes at on Twitter – but Liam is yet to confirm if it is or not.
The song follows ‘Wall of Glass’, ‘Chinatown’, and ‘For What It’s Worth’, all from the record due out on October 6.
Liam also worked on several tracks with Dan Grech-Marguerat, who has previously done songs with Radiohead, Mumford and Sons and Circa Waves.
And ‘For What It’s Worth’ was co-written by Simon Aldred of Cherry Ghost.
Towards the end of the recording process, Liam spent a day at the legendary Air Studios, which was founded by late Beatles producer Sir George Martin in 1969.
There he added orchestration to ‘For What It’s Worth’, ‘Paper Crown’ and ‘Greedy Soul’.
At the time, he wrote on Twitter: “Had a lovely day in air studios yesterday recording three songs with orchestra fwiw paper crown greedy soul the things i do for you as you were (sic)”
In June, Liam performed ‘Wall of Glass’, ‘Greedy Soul’ and ‘Bold’ all backed by a full brass section and a trio of female singers at Glastonbury.

Shania Twain’s therapy album

OHMYGOSSIP — Shania Twain’s new album was like therapy.
The country pop legend has been through major ups and downs, including being left devastated after she found out her ex-husband Robert Lange and her best friend had an affair, and she found out she had contracted bacterial infection Lyme disease, which nearly saw her lose her voice completely.
The ‘Still The One’ hitmaker sought solace in making her first record in 15 years, ‘Now’, which helped her put everything into perspective and “overcome” a bad period in her life.
The 52-year-old singer explained: “There are a lot of songs that refer to that period so it is completely included.
“But it was never going to dominate the whole record.
“If I had focused on writing an album closer to that period it would have been way more about that.
“‘Poor Me’ – that’s my dwelling song.
“As a songwriter I found that a very good experience. It was extremely therapeutic, it helped me a lot, it was basically my won diary.
“It helped me overcome so much, you know, pour me another.”
Shania says she has no regrets about pouring her heart out on the album – which is released on Friday (29.09.17) – as she has nothing to hide.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: “I’m not ashamed, I don’t need to apologise for what I’ve been through.
“It’s just what it is, I think transparency is sometimes the best way to go.”
The ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’ star previously admitted she “grieved” for her career after contracting Lyme disease.
She said: “It’s a very debilitating disease, very degenerative. So I was very lucky at all that it affected the nerves on my vocal cords, not the vocal cords. I lost my voice for several years and I could speak but I couldn’t yell. I could never yell for my dog or my son or whatever.
“I also felt that I was never going to make another album – that was probably my truth. It was devastating. I really grieved about that. It did bring me down and I struggled with it every day.”

Paloma Faith nearly didn’t record her biggest hit

OHMYGOSSIP — Paloma Faith almost didn’t record one of her biggest hits.
The 36-year-old singer was handed ‘Only Love Can Hurt Like This’ by legendary songwriter Diane Warren – most famous for writing Aerosmith’s ‘I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing’ – but she has always been skeptical about taking songs not written by herself, and so it wasn’t until she heard the track and was blown away by it that she decided to release it in 2014.
However, it was the right decision as it ended up reaching number six in the UK chart and has had over 55 million streams.
She told Music Week: “Diane was like, ‘Do you not even want to hear the song?’ And I said, ‘Not really. I just don’t want it – because it’s not written by me’. I think she was a bit put out by my response.
“Obviously, she’s done a million times better than me in her career and is probably used to people saying, ‘Diane’s written a song, I’m just going to sing it,’ regardless of what it sounds like.
“Anyway, she insisted and when I heard it, I was like, ‘I hate you!’ She said, ‘It’s really good, isn’t it?’ And I replied, ‘Yeah.'”
The ‘Crybaby’ hitmaker is gearing up to release her new album ‘The Architect’ – the follow-up to 2014’s ‘A Perfect Contradiction’ – on November 17, and recently revealed recorded some of the songs as she pumped breast milk.
Paloma welcomed her first child – whom she has with partner Leyman Lahcine – into the world in December, and revealed the sound she made whilst preparing her baby’s meal was nearly sampled on a track, but she rejected her producer’s idea because she can’t stand using the mechanical device to extract milk from her lactating boobs.
She shared: “As I was recording I was pumping breast milk and the producer I was working with at the time was like, ‘Shall we sample that because it’s so familiar?’
“I really just want to say how much I hate pumping breast milk and I am so glad that I’m not doing it anymore. It is absolutely delicious!”

Rita Ora set to host the MTV EMAs

OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Ora will host and perform at the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) in November.
The 26-year-old singer is returning to her home city of London to host the annual awards show at the SSE Arena, Wembley, and Rita is already looking forward to the ceremony on November 12.
She explained: “I’m so excited to be hosting this year’s MTV EMAs in my hometown.
“I still remember how much fun my first EMAs was in Frankfurt in 2012, when I performed ‘RIP.’ I can’t wait to get back on the stage to host and perform. Worlds will collide on this global stage come November 12, so get ready.”
The ‘Your Song’ hitmaker said that following a series of terrorists attacks in the UK capital earlier this year, she is determined to help stage a memorable show for music fans.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about the event, Rita shared: “We just really want to focus on what the show is about, which is MTV Europe Music Awards.
“We plan to bring a form of spirit and hope into a music awards show, especially being in London. There are a lot of things that have happened this year, and it’s really important to just be proud of where you are from.”
The EMAs – which are to be aired live across MTV’s TV, social and digital platforms this year – were first staged in London in 1996.
And Bruce Gillmer, the Head of Music and Music Talent at Viacom, believes Rita is the perfect host for the awards show.
He said: “Rita is a multi-talented star who’s been an MTV core artist for over half of a decade.
“She’s the perfect hometown hero to lead the 2017 MTV EMAs, which promises to be the year’s ultimate global music celebration.”
Meanwhile, MTV plans to reveal the names of other performers and presenters at the show over the coming weeks.

Taylor Swift sends flowers to Cardi B after dethroning her on chart

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift sent Cardi B flowers after she knocked her off the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The 24-year-old rapper – whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar – secured her first-ever US number one with her track ‘Bodak Yellow’, which displaced Taylor’s ‘Look What You Made Me Do’.
Pop megastar Taylor, 27, showed there were no hard feelings by popping the gift in the post, which Cardi was overwhelmed with as she is a huge fan of the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker’s music.
Alongside the bouquet of pink roses, Cardi captioned her boomerang post on Instagram: “Sooo beautiful and lovely .Thank you @taylorswift for the flowers … and I freaking love your music (sic)”
However, not everyone was pleased with Cardi’s success.
Outspoken hip-hop star Azealia Banks compared Cardi to a “poor man’s Nicki Minaj”.
Azealia wrote in a series of now-deleted tweets: “I’m sorry. Black industry men are too hype for this Latina girl I’ve never seen them jump like this for Remy [Ma] or Nicki [Minaj].
“Spinning this ‘for the culture’ story when they are simply letting white men at Atlantic buy them into hating their own women. (sic)”
The ‘212’ hitmaker, 26, subsequently wrote that Cardi – who is of Trinidadian and Dominican descent – was “only black when black want to include themselves in a success story”.
The controversial star later added: “I wanted spicy Latina and she gave me poor mans Nicki. (sic)”
