Niall Horan wants One Direction reunion

OHMYGOSSIP — Niall Horan is definitely up for reuniting with One Direction and insists the boys would be “stupid not to” reform.
The ‘Slow Hands’ singer has just released his debut solo album ‘Flicker’ and is enjoying being out on his own but he still misses his bandmates, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne, and is sure that their hiatus, which started in January 2016, won’t be a permanent thing.
Speaking to Australian chat show ’60 Minutes’, the Irish pop star said: “[We’d be] stupid not to … I’m up for it, yep, 100 per cent, I’ve said that on multiple occasions.”
Niall, 24, has earned rave reviews for his solo output, which he admits is influenced by The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac and his pal Ed Sheeran.
But the ‘Too Much To Ask’ hitmaker would never distance himself from his boy band past because he knows he wouldn’t have ever got the opportunity to make his record if he hadn’t been a member of 1D – which also previously included Zayn Malik and was formed on UK TV talent show ‘The X Factor’ in 2010.
Speaking about his pride at being part of One Direction, he said: “I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for it.”
Although Niall is keen to reform One Direction in the future, he has previously stated he doesn’t think it will happen in the near future because the boys are all busy with solo projects and were exhausted by the time they headed off to pursue other projects.
He previously said: “We were knackered by the end of One Direction… I wouldn’t stick a date on it.”

Snoop Dogg announces 16th album

OHMYGOSSIP — Snoop Dogg has announced his 16th studio album, ‘Make America Crip Again’.
The 46-year-old rapper has released audio of the title track which references his on-going feud with US President Donald Trump, who has previously hit out at the star on Twitter.
In the song, Snoop raps: “The president said he wants to make America great again. F**k that shit, we gon’ make America Crip again.
“Don’t pretend like I’m with that bulls**t your president been tweetin’ (sic)”
Explaining his album title, Snoop told CNN: “Certain people feel like we should make America ‘great again,’ but that time they’re referring to always takes me back to separation and segregation, so I’d rather make America Crip again.
“What I mean by that is, in my lifetime, that’s when young black men in impoverished areas organized to help their communities and to take care of their own because society basically left them for dead.”
Trump hit out at Snoop’s “failing career” on Twitter in March after the rapper pulled out a gun on a man pretending to be the US President in his music video for tune ‘BADBADNOTGOOD’.
The politician tweeted: “Can you imagine what the outcry would be if Snoop Dogg, failing career and all, had aimed and fired the gun at President Obama? Jail time! (sic)”
His lawyer, Michael Cohen, said at the time: “It’s totally disgraceful. Snoop owes the president an apology. There’s absolutely nothing funny about an assassination attempt on a president, and I’m really shocked at him, because I thought he was better than that.”
‘Make America Crip Again’ – which is slated for an October 27 release – is a follow up to his 15th studio album ‘Neva Left’, which Snoop dropped in May this year.

The 22-year-old pop babe took home the Best Single prize for her hit ‘New Rules’ and she thrilled the fans in attendance with a performance of the girl power anthem.

Linkin Park to live stream Chester Bennington tribute concert

OHMYGOSSIP —
Linkin Park fans will be able to watch the Chester Bennington tribute concert on a live-stream online.
The remaining members of the rock band are set to perform together at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Friday (27.10.17) for the first time since the frontman tragically took his own life in July aged 41.
Supporters will be able to watch the live show – featuring an all-star line-up including Blink-182 and members of Korn, and System of a Down – on Linkin Park’s official YouTube page.
The sold-out ‘Linkin Park & Friends Celebrate Life in Honour of Chester Bennington’ tribute concert will be a heartfelt farewell from his bandmates.
Also performing at the show are Korn frontman Jonathan Davis, Avenged Sevenfold members M. Shadows and Synyster Gates, several members of System of a Down, Yellowcard singer William Ryan Key, and solo artist Kiiara, who featured on Linkin Park track ‘Heavy’.
The live-stream will begin at 7.45pm PST (2.45am, Saturday October 28 GMT).
Proceeds from the charity concert will go to Music for Relief’s One More Light Fund.
Linkin Park singer Mike Shinoda recently revealed he was unsure about performing at the concert until he spoke to legendary producer Rick Rubin.
Mike said: “I had gone to Rick Rubin as a source of guidance. He said, ‘I think you guys need to get onstage.’ I think that’ll be the thing that’ll feel good. It’ll be super, super hard. We haven’t gone out together in public, we haven’t played.
“[He said] ‘The fans want to see you. Not because they want to see a show, there’s a cathartic experience that needs to happen and it’ll inform what you guys are doing.'”

London Grammar make triumphant return to hometown at Eventim Apollo

OHMYGOSSIP — London Grammar made a triumphant return to their hometown at Eventim Apollo on Saturday night (21.10.17).
The Indie pop trio bounced back from the stage fright and exhaustion they suffered following the release of their debut album, ‘If You Wait’, in 2013, and showed they have come of age, performing romantic tracks from their recent number one album ‘Truth Is A Beautiful Thing’ alongside fan favoured hits.
Guitarist Dan Rothman spoke for the Ivor Novello winning group – which includes singer Hannah Reid and drummer Dot Major – when he told the crowd: “It feels so good to be home … We’re really happy to be here.
“This is one of those venues that I dreamed of playing when I was a little boy when I had a poster of Ziggy Stardust on my wall.”
The former Nottingham University friends have steered their sound in a lighter direction this year and showcased their highly anticipated progress, delivering introspective songs ‘Who Am I’, ‘Truth Is A Beautiful Thing’, and ‘Hell To The Liars’, but ‘Strong’ and ‘Wasting My Young Years’ received a huge reaction from their beloved fans inside the sold out venue.
Following an impressive collaboration with visual artist and ‘American History X’ director Tony Kaye earlier this year on two videos for the song ‘Oh Woman Oh Man’, the band stood strong in front of a superb ocular treat that flowed into new hazy scenes with each song, morphing ambient soundscapes, and making them appear to be inside their own cinematic music videos.
When their audience wasn’t singing along, Hannah’s voice, with its operatic and almost celtic-folk edge, soared through the venue and brought them to silence on tracks like ‘Rooting For You’, in the chillingly brilliant moments when she sat at the piano and sang acapella.
London Grammar continue their tour at Birmingham’s 02 Academy on Monday (23.10.17), Nottingham’s Rock City on Thursday, Bristol’s Colston Hall on Friday and Newcastle upon Tyne City Hall on Saturday before returning for a triumphant end in their hometown at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on Sunday night.

Niall Horan excited for 1D’s successors

OHMYGOSSIP — Niall Horan is excited to see One Direction’s successors.
The 24-year-old singer found fame and fortune with the boyband – which also features Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne – but Niall believes that another band will come along and find equal success.
He told The Sun on Sunday’s Fabulous magazine: “We’re not untouchable! I suppose we came along at a [pivotal] time with social media, but I imagine it’ll happen again somewhere along the line. It’ll be fun seeing someone else go out and do it.”
And with One Direction currently on hiatus, there is a gap in the market for a new boyband.
Meanwhile, Niall has just released his debut solo album ‘Flicker’ but insists that he will never be as successful alone as he was with One Direction.
He said: “It’s really liberating. We all know that nothing I do will ever be as big as One Direction. But that means there’s no expectation and it’s quite nice to be able to just spread the wings.
“Obviously I want my stuff to do well, but I also know that playing stadiums for two years is pretty much impossible.
“It’s nice to surprise people. And it’s been great to play smaller venues and see the whites in people’s eyes, you know?
“The album has taken a year and a half to write, whereas with One Direction we’d have six weeks, so it’s been a very different experience. I’ve had time to make mistakes and I’ve written a lot of s**t. But I’m pretty honest with myself; I know what’s good and what’s bad.”

Liam Gallagher planning second solo album

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher is planning another solo album.
The former Oasis frontman is thrilled with the success of his LP ‘As You Were’, which topped the UK album charts, and he says he will release a follow-up.
Speaking to Absolute Radio, he said: “I’m made up that the album’s been received really well. There’s a lot of people who get a number one with like 3,000 copies these days, and that ain’t f**king good enough for me. Obviously it sold well, and it seemed like people really want a Liam Gallagher record, so that’s made me happy. I guess we’ll go and do another one!”
However, Liam has made no secret of the fact he would rather still be in Oasis with his older brother Noel Gallagher.
Speaking previously, the 45-year-old singer said he believes the world needs him and Noel, 50, to put aside their differences because the world is such a crazy place now.
The band split in August 2009 after a huge backstage bust-up which resulted in Liam swinging a guitar at Noel’s head, resulting in him quitting the group stating that he couldn’t go on working with his younger sibling.
Liam said: “Oasis ain’t getting back together, but The Verve might be. But I think with all the s**t that’s going on in the world. It’s like United King f**king doom not United Kingdom isn’t it? This is not me putting it out there going I need my brother, I’m quite happy doing what I’m doing. I’m having a nice time, I’m sure he is, but I just think sometimes … we’ve got such a f***ing great life, I think we should put all our s**t aside and just all have a f**king good time.”

Nadine Coyle wants Sarah Harding collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — Nadine Coyle wants to duet with Sarah Harding.
The ‘Go To Work’ singer isn’t really in touch with her other former Girls Aloud bandmates, Cheryl Tweedy, Kimberley Walsh, and Nicola Roberts, but she’s still pals with the ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ winner and would love to collaborate with her on a new song.
She said: “I’d love to duet with Sarah. We sang together for years in the band, so why not? If we’re allowed to, I’d love to.
“I’ve not seen her since ‘CBB’ but I will be seeing her soon.”
And Nadine – who has three-year-old daughter Anaiya with fiance Jason Bell – approves of her friend’s new romance with fellow ‘CBB’ contestant Chad Johnson
She told Closer magazine: “I think Chad is a good egg – a very good-looking egg too.
“Sarah always likes a nice good-looking guy, so I think they may be a great match.”
Though the 32-year-old singer doesn’t have contact with all her former bandmates, she’d love a full reunion one day.
She said: “I’d love a reunion, I really would – whether it’s in two years or 20 years.”
The ‘Biology’ singer has previously claimed that tensions arose in the group – which was formed on TV talent show ‘Popstars: The Rivals’ in 2002 – when she was given more lead vocal parts on their hit songs.
She said: “It was fine at the start but there’s always politics in any band.
“It just happened that I always got more vocals than everybody else, so in terms of people wanting their voice heard, that wasn’t happening. And it made people, very bitter. They didn’t like that … So yeah there was [a divide]. We’re all very, very different characters.”

Adele, Abba and Katy Perry songs banned from Karaoke

OHMYGOSSIP — Adele, Abba, and Katy Perry songs feature on a list of tracks that have been banned from being performed at Karaoke.
The London born star’s smash hit single ‘Hello’, Abba’s ‘Dancing Queen’ and Katy’s ‘Roar’ are some of the classic tunes that Karaoke lovers will be prohibited from singing, as 100 bands and performers are no longer issuing new licenses for their music, the Daily Mirror reports.
The order already applies to online streaming services but will be extended to discs from January.
Jay Taylor, director of karaoke disc-maker Vocal-Star, said the move, which also affects home karaoke machines, is set to devastate the industry.
He told the Mirror: “We can’t understand why they’re doing it, it makes no sense.”
It’s not clear exactly why the music is being restricted, but Rob Kempton, of music rights consultancy Footprint Music, said it could be a variety of reasons, including the stars’ personal preference, that prompted the ban.
He said: “Artists might want to negotiate their own deal with karaoke companies, or it might be they don’t want songs overplayed and put people off.
“Maybe some just don’t like karaoke.”
Meanwhile, Adele will pay tribute to the late George Michael with a heartfelt version of his hit single ‘Fastlove’ in his upcoming posthumous documentary ‘Freedom’.
The 29-year-old singer will be seen performing the track during the opening credits of the documentary – which George was working on prior to his passing on Christmas Day (25.12.16) last year at the age of 53 – after she wowed audiences with a slowed-down cover of the song at the Grammy awards earlier this year.
And insiders also believe the ‘Hello’ hitmaker could be set to release her cover of the 1996 track as a single in memory of the late former Wham! singer.

Michael Jackson wanted advice from Blue

OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Jackson asked Simon Webbe for songwriting advice.
The late King of Pop turned to the Blue singer – whose band have duetted with the likes of Sir Elton John, Stevie Wonder and Angie Stone – for help on knowing when to stop working on a track, and even Simon admits it was “weird” for such an iconic performer to seek him out.
Simon said: “Michael asked, ‘When do you know when a song’s finished?’ Weird him asking my advice, but it was very special.”
The group found working on ‘Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word’ with Elton a dream come true and will always value the advice he gave them.
Lee Ryan said: “As a kid I used to pray I’d sing with Elton John. It was a big ask, but it happened.”
Bandmate Duncan James added: “He advised us to forget the fancy dance moves. He said we were in a different class to the other boybands and gave us all a gold pendant with our initials.”
Fourth member Antony Costa’s favourite memory of the ‘All Rise’ hitmakers’ hey day was meeting his idol George Michael, and he admits he was left heartbroken by the ‘Careless Whisper’ hitmaker’s passing last December.
He told Britain’s HELLO! magazine: “The songs take me back there. Like the time we appeared on ‘Top of the Pops’ in 2004 and I bumped into my all-time hero, George Michael, who called me his ‘fellow North London Greek boy’.
“It has broken my heart that he has left us but I’m so glad I managed to meet him.”

No 2017 album for Louisa Johnson

OHMYGOSSIP —
Louisa Johnson won’t release her album this year.
The 19-year-old singer won ‘The X Factor’ in 2015 but still hasn’t released her debut LP, and has suggested any recordings she has made won’t be made public because she’s had a “change in direction” with her sound.
Asked if she’ll release her album this year, she said: “I’m not sure. Probably not. We’ve kind of had a change in direction with the music.”
However, the ‘Best Behaviour’ singer is keen to get the album out and get on the road to perform for her loyal fans.
She said: “I really just want to get the album out and tour. Touring is the main thing because I always just want to sing my songs for people.”
The blonde beauty also revealed there’s a surprising artist at the top of her wish list for collaborations.
She told LOOK magazine: “[I want to work with] Eminem. I just love him and his music – he’s great lyrics-wise.”
Since finding fame, Louisa admits it can be difficult to cope with being in the public eye all the time, but she tries to just accept the attention and not get too hung up on it.
She said: “It’s difficult to get used to – no one wants to have an unexpected photo taken, everyone wants to look their best. I just try to go with it.”
And even if she’s having a bad day, the ‘So Good’ singer tries not to let it upset her too much.
She said: “I’m all or nothing. If I’m having a bad day I’ll just get on with it – it’s just life.
“But music picks me up.”

Foals are ready for ‘violent change’ on next album

OHMYGOSSIP — Foals have admitted that they need “violent change” on their next record to avoid “extinction”.
NME has reported that the band’s frontman Yannis Philippakis opened up about their progress on writing their follow up to 2015’s LP ‘What Went Down’ and said the musicians are confident they will be able to evolve and stay relevant in the charts by ensuring their next offering is unlike its predecessors.
Speaking during their show at Oxford University’s student union on Friday (20.10.17), he said: “What we need to do is go through some sort of violent change and make sure, whatever the next record is, it’s not friends with the last two… We’ve built a wide palette that we can draw from. It would be a shame not to keep pushing that. It’s evolution vs. extinction.”
Yannis joked that their early drafts of their future tracks don’t “sound good yet” but they are excited to be back in the studio.
Discussing their break from writing after their last tour, NME reports that he said: “We’ve just started writing the new record. We’ve taken a year out – we needed it. We’d been on tour for a long time. It was fun, but sometimes the more fun a tour is, the more of a toll it takes on you.
He continued: “Me and Jimmy [Smith, guitarist] have come up with some sketches and some early ideas. We’re actually writing on the road at the moment. It doesn’t sound good, yet … ”
The band – also made up of Jack Bevan, Jimmy Smith, Walter Gervers and Edwin Congreave – admitted earlier this year that they were gearing up to give birth to a new record.
Yannis said: “We’re in the marinating stage of thinking about getting onto the next record. We have a couple of bits written but it’s in the very early stages. We’re in the conception stage, we’re not pregnant yet, we’re just trying to have the kid.
“I think it’s good to be hungry and want to make big leaps between records and keep things surprising and keep it unpredictable and to grow. It’s important for bands to evolve and I think it’s one of the reasons that it’s still exciting for us after having done four records.”
Foals’ new album will be a follow up to 2015’s ‘What Went Down’. They previously released ‘Antidotes’ in 2008 followed by 2010’s ‘Total Life Forever’ and ‘Holy Fire’ in 2013.

‘Dirty Dancing’ soundtrack to be released on vinyl

OHMYGOSSIP — The ‘Dirty Dancing’ soundtrack is to be released on vinyl for the very first time to celebrate the cult film’s 30th anniversary.
Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey starred in the timeless dance movie – featuring ‘that lift’ – which was first released in cinemas in 1987.
Now to mark three decades of nobody putting Baby in the corner and carrying watermelons, a brand-new CD and vinyl edition of the soundtrack, titled ‘The Ultimate Dirty Dancing’, will be released on December 1 by Sony Music.
The limited edition vinyl will feature much-loved favourites ‘Hey Baby’, ‘Hungry Eyes’ and of course the unforgettable ‘(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life’, as well as including a pop-up photograph of the iconic lift scene from the movie inside the cover.
Patrick, who died of cancer aged 57 in 2009, wrote and performed the track ‘She’s Like The Wind’ for the original soundtrack.
Since its original release the ‘Dirty Dancing’ soundtrack has sold more than 32 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time.
The film has gone on to become a West End musical and a remake starring Abigail Breslin, Nicole Scherzinger and Debra Messing was released earlier this year.

Julian Casablancas isn’t sure Strokes fans will like The Voidz

OHMYGOSSIP — Julian Casablancas isn’t sure if fans of The Strokes will embrace the latest record from The Voidz.
The 39-year-old singer formed the group four years ago, and as he prepares to release the follow-up to 2014’s debut album ‘Tyranny’ next year, he admitted the project is still quite different to the ‘Last Nite’ indie band’s sound.
Speaking to website Noisey, he said: “If you’re interested in the evolution of music, then I’d say yes, definitely. If you want to listen to mainstream indie rock, maybe not.
“I don’t understand some of those people from the old school who grew up loving The Strokes and are now criticising this new exploration.”
Meanwhile, Julian – who formed The Strokes in 1998, and most recently released ‘Comedown Machine’ in 2013 – has commented on the state of modern rock music, and insisted there’s nothing to worry about.
He explained: “I don’t think, ‘Oh, rock is dead’. There’s some hip hop music that’s inspiring. There’s a lot of old music to rediscovered. As long as music moves forward, who cares if rock is no longer what it was?”
The singer also took the opportunity to shoot down rumours about a new LP from The Strokes, after band member Albert Hammond Jr.’s father revealed earlier this year that the group have been back in the studio recording their sixth studio LP with producer Rick Rubin.
The band denied it at the time, and now Julian has added: “I’m really focused on The Voidz right now. Some new stuff will come out soon. With The Strokes, I don’t know – there’s no news right now.”

Robert Plant reflects on his career

OHMYGOSSIP — Robert Plant has described his life and music career as “a wardrobe of attempted personality changes”.
The 69-year-old Led Zeppelin legend is fast approaching his 70th birthday and has just released his 11th solo studio LP ‘Carry Fire’.
Plant has found himself pondering on his artistic output and believes his musical journey has been a succession of “remarkable gifts and experiences” all of which feed into his songwriting.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, he explained: “You know, this is not a career. It’s an assembly of remarkable gifts and experiences. If I’m going to weave some words around three or four-minute pieces of music, it’s got to be what’s going on in me and around me. I’ve tried a lot of guises as a man and it’s been like having a wardrobe of attempted personality changes.”
On a slightly less profound note, Plant admits he loved recording his cover of the song ‘Bluebirds Over The Mountain’ – which he made with Chrissie Hynde, 66, for his latest album – because it gave him the opportunity to sing his favourite word ‘baby’ once again.
He added: “I haven’t done enough of that for a while. In 1972, I think somebody in the back of Melody Maker counted the number of ‘babys’ that were uttered on one of our [Led Zeppelin’s] albums.
“As a kid, I was into the Ritchie Valens version of ‘Bluebirds Over The Mountain’. It’s stunning and so simplistic. I was born in 1948, so in the middle of everything else happening today, what a relief to just sing a song that goes, ‘Bring my baby back to me.’ ”
