Liam Gallagher doesn’t know meaning to Oasis hits

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher doesn’t know the meaning behind Oasis’ biggest hits.
The 45-year-old rock legend is in the dark about what the lyrics refer to in many of the tracks penned by his older brother and former bandmate Noel Gallagher, who quit the band in 2009.
And it’s not just his sibling’s songs that he struggles to decipher as he isn’t even sure what some of his solo efforts such as ‘Bold’ from his hit album ‘As You Were’ are talking about.
Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, he said: “I certainly don’t know what half of them mean. ‘Supersonic’? I don’t know what that means. ‘Champagne Supernova’? I don’t know what a lot of stuff that means. I don’t even know what ‘Bold’ means!
“I can sing anything and it’ll mean something because of the way I sing it. I sing it with passion and that means something. When I look at the lyrics I don’t go, ‘What’s this about?’ ”
Despite not quite understanding the lyrics to all of the band’s big hits Liam had no problem turning up to the studio to do his part, and give someone control over the songwriting because Noel, 50, always wrote the majority of Oasis’ tracks.
His attitude meant he had no problem working with co-writers Andrew Wyatt, Greg Kurstin, Simon Jons and Michael Tighe on his first solo LP.
He explained: “I didn’t ask Andrew Wyatt or those other guys, ‘What’s all this about?’ I just got on with it and sang it and it kind of means things, you know what I mean?”
“In Oasis, Noel would do most of the writing. It wasn’t always about me, so I’m quite easy about handing over the baton to people to help make a record.”
Liam – who did pen several songs in Oasis including hit singles ‘Songbird’ and ‘I’m Outta Time’ – enjoys penning songs but he readily accepts he’s not a prolific writer, and has to rely on moments of inspiration to create his music.
He said: “I don’t cast myself as a songwriter, I cast myself as a singer more than anything else. As long as there’s people out there willing to work with me and write me a few tunes, I’m alright. I do enjoy writing songs, but I don’t sit there and have sleepless nights like some songwriters who think, ‘Oh, what if I never write a song again?’ That doesn’t happen to me.”

Kid Rock announces new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Kid Rock is releasing a new album – but it won’t be sound-tracking his political ambitions as he has no plans to run for the Senate
The ‘All Summer Long’ singer had made waves in September when he posted a bizarre campaign statement on his official website, but now he’s revealed that it was a joke to promote his upcoming record ‘Sweet Southern Sugar’.
Speaking to radio host Howard Stern on his Sirius XM show, he said: “F**k no, I’m not running for Senate. Are you kidding me? Who f***ing couldn’t figure that out? I’m releasing a new album. I’m going on tour too … Are you f***ing s****ing me?”
The 46-year-old musician described the stunt as the “most creative thing” he’s ever attempted, and said it gave him an insight into peoples’ “true colours”.
He added: “[Pretending to run was] the worst advice I ever gave myself, but it’s been the most creative thing I’ve ever done. And I’ve gotten to see everyone’s true colours.”
While the political aspirations weren’t genuine, Kid Rock – whose real name is Robert Ritchie – is set to release his first album since 2015’s ‘First Kiss’ next month.
His 13th record – the first LP he’s recorded in iconic music city Nashville, Tennessee – ‘Sweet Southern Sugar’ will come out on November 3, featuring recent singles ‘Greatest Show On Earth’, ‘Po-Dunk’ and ‘Tennessee Mountain Top’.
He will then embark on a huge US tour in 2018, kick starting in Nashville on January 19 and concluding the long run on the road in March with a show at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
‘Sweet Southern Sugar’ track list:
1. Greatest Show On Earth
2. Po-Dunk
3. Tennessee Mountain Top
4. I Wonder
5. American Rock N’ Roll

Noel Gallagher doesn’t need Oasis reunion

OHMYGOSSIP — Noel Gallagher insists reforming Oasis would be the “death” of him “as a person”.
The 50-year-old rocker has no interest to return to the group – which split in 2009 as a result of tensions between himself and his younger brother, singer Liam Gallagher – because they had no “unfinished business” and he can’t see any value in a reunion.
Noel – who has teamed up with DJ and producer David Holmes for his new solo album, ‘Who Built The Moon?’ – told Q magazine: “I’ve been very consistent about it. I don’t need the money, I don’t need the glory, I don’t need to relive the memories. If I was to get Oasis back together tomorrow and then do a tour, I’d have a hundred million dollars in the bank but I’d have learnt f**k all.
“I’d have actually wasted a year of being in the studio with a person like David Holmes. It would be the death of me as a person
“I could understand if we were a band who’d been going for five years and were just at out peak, but Oasis have got no unfinished business. We did it. We f***ing did it, and then some. It’s done.”
Instead, Noel would rather keep pushing himself in new directions.
He said: “I’m 50 now. Everything I do from here on is for the experien ce of doing new things.”
Noel even suggested he thinks the ‘Live Forever’ group should have split after their record-breaking gigs in Knebworth in 1996, but admitted they were “too caught up” in their popularity to even consider walking away at their peak.
He said: “Imagine if we’d have walked off stage at Knebworth and that would have been it.
“It would have been the greatest story of all time. A better story than the Beatles, Elvis, all that s**t. But we were too caught up in the thing.
“You’re like, ‘F**k this, we’ll come back next year and do five nights.’ ”
And the ‘Holy Mountain’ singer admitted he is frustrated that some of his songs such as ‘Acquiesce’ and ‘Talk Tonight’ were used as B-sides by Oasis because he didn’t realise his inspiration would eventually run dry.
He said: “I regret not having the wherewithal to think, ‘Actually this run of tunes cannot go on.’
“But you’re high on f***ing coke most of the time, when anything is possible. No one is going to say, ‘Hang on a minute, it might dry up at some point’.
“The one bit of advice Paul Weller gave to me, I didn’t take it and I regret that. He said, ‘If it goes, don’t chase it. And I spent three albums chasing it.’ ”
The ‘Heat of the Moment’ singer spent the summer supporting U2 on tour and though he enjoyed the experience, it made him realise he’s no longer interested in headlining stadiums himself anymore.
He said: “Doing this has made me realise it’s not for me. In Oasis, it was f***ing unbelievable but I’ not dumb-a**e enough to think we’ll get back there one day.”

Glastonbury dates revealed for 2019

OHMYGOSSIP — Glastonbury Festival has been confirmed to be returning in 2019 after taking a break next year to allow the farm land time to recover from the annual influx of music fans.
The iconic festival – which takes place at Worthy Farm in Somerset, South West England – will be back after a fallow year, which the music extravaganza takes to help with the upkeep of the site.
The event’s official website has been updated to confirm the news that it will take a break in 2018, while fans will be excited to know it will be back the following year from June 26 to June 30.
This year’s festival was a hit with punters as Radiohead, Foo Fighters and Ed Sheeran all headlined the iconic Pyramid Stage.
The announcement comes after co-organiser Emily Eavis admitted that even though there’s no event to organise for next year she and her dad, founder Michael Eavis, will still have a busy 12 months ahead.
She recently said: “Well the years off are normally quite busy actually… We spend a lot of time looking at everything and doing bigger, long-term projects. Looking at tickets and passes and things like that.
“There will be a lot of work to be done, but it’s sad to think about it at the moment, because it’s been such an amazing festival. I can’t really remember one quite like this.”
The disappointment in taking a year out has been echoed by Michael, who admitted over the summer that he was “already regretting” the decision.

Eminem wins New Zealand copyright case

OHMYGOSSIP — Eminem has won a legal battle with a New Zealand political party after they used a song very similar to ‘Lose Yourself’ in an election advert.
The ‘Love The Way You Lie’ hitmaker sued the country’s National Party over copyright issues regarding their use of an instrumental track which had a similar melody and rhythm to the hit single, and they had to pay NZ$600,000 – the equivalent of almost US$482,000 – in damages.
According to a court ruling, the song only bore minimal differences to the original – which was including on the soundtrack to the rapper’s 2002 film ‘8 Mile’ – and ruled in favour of music publisher Eight Mile Style, who filed proceedings in May after the song was used in a 2014 campaign advert.
Although the National Party’s lawyers argued the song was not actually ‘Lose Yourself’ – instead, a track called ‘Eminem-esque’ from a stock music library – the court ruled that it was “sufficiently similar” to the star’s “highly original work”.
It was decided on Wednesday (25.10.17) that the song did infringe copyright laws, with the judgement stating that the drum patterns, background chords and violin tones were considered, and all of them were said to bare “close similarities”.
The judgement added: “The nature of the use is not what Eminem or Eight Mile Style would endorse.”

Nicki Minaj convinced Kanye West to include Monster on his album

OHMYGOSSIP — Nicki Minaj had to convince Kanye West to include ‘Monster’ on his 2010 album ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’.
The 34-year-old rap star features alongside Kanye, Jay Z and Rick Ross on the popular track, and her verse is widely considered to be one of the high points of Nicki’s career – but she’s revealed she needed to make a lengthy call to Kanye in order for the single to make the cut on his album.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Nicki wrote: “7 year anniversary of #Monster Kanye called me to tell me Jay put a verse on this song & that he was still deciding if he would put it on his album. Haha. It was like an hour long call where I tried to convince him to let the song stay on his album. He felt this verse would end up being the talk of the album. I said: YOU’RE KANYE WEST!!!! (sic)”
Nicki also gave her fans an insight into how she appeared on the track in the first place.
She recalled: “I became the first female rapper to perform @ Yankee Stadium on the JAY/Eminem stadium tour. When I saw him, Jay said: ‘when u got so nice’? I said: ‘I been nice’! Ha! Kanye, thank you for being the genius you are. You always put others first. I fought u every step of the way but it worked out. (He wanted me to add more of that growling monster voice and I felt it was over kill.) He wouldn’t give in. In the end, maybe he was right. Ha! (sic)”
Nick said that Kanye’s ex-girlfriend Amber Rose also helped to convince the rapper of her talents.
She explained: “Amber had spoken highly of me to Ye n pushed for him to meet with me. The rest is history. Ye, Jay, Em…All 3 of them helped me in some way. Love (sic)”

Paloma Faith’s song inspired by tragic ex

OHMYGOSSIP — Paloma Faith’s song ‘Kings and Queens’ was inspired by her teen sweetheart’s tragic life.
The 36-year-old singer – who welcomed her first child with partner Leyman Lahcine last year – explained that her ex boyfriend was the victim of discrimination when he was younger and ended up going down a bad path.
She explained to the Daily Star: “It’s quite hard for me to talk about it, because I always get emotional talking about it.
“I had a boyfriend from when I was 13 to when I was 16. We were both brought up in Hackney. He was always getting arrested – not because he was badly behaved. He was getting arrested because he was black and fit a criteria.”
The man has since been in trouble with the law, and even ended up in jail, but Paloma feels that this never would have happened if he had not been discriminated against.
She revealed that her new song was inspired by a chance meeting between them a few years ago, when she and Leyman were out walking in Dalston, London, and they saw her ex getting arrested.
She said: “I heard through the grapevine that he ended up in jail for things he did do, but I knew in my absolute heart that this wasn’t him.
“And about two or three years ago, I was walking in Dalston -where we basically grew up – and I was holding hands with my current boyfriend, who’s now the father of my child.
“There was a big clearing, lots of police cars, with an area cornered off and someone was getting their face shoved into the wall… and being handcuffed quite aggressively.
“I met eyes with the person, who then bowed his head in shame. It was my ex-boyfriend.
“I just felt so sad, because I know that he could have been where I am now. He was super talented. Totally on my level creatively. He played the saxophone, he was super great at art, and he could have been anything.”

Camila Cabello wants Kendrick Lamar collaboration

OHMYGOSSIP — Camila Cabello would love to collaborate with Kendrick Lamar.
The former Fifth Harmony singer is set to release her debut solo album ‘The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving.’ in 2018, and although she might have finished recording the tracks for the album, she has admitted she’d love to join forces with the ‘Humble’ rapper.
When asked who she’d most like to collaborate with, she said: “A lot, all of them. Kendrick Lamar, Chance The Rapper. I’m gonna say that.”
Camila would also love to see Chance The Rapper live in concert, as well as chart-topping rockers Coldplay.
Asked which acts she’d like to see live, she said: “I would love to see Coldplay live! I’d love to see John Mayer live, and I’d love to see Chance the Rapper live.”
And whilst the ‘Havana’ hitmaker admits that her go-to karaoke song is “any Nicki Minaj song”, she says she would love to cover Queen’s ‘Somebody To Love’, even though she thinks the track is “untouchable”.
When asked by Buzzfeed which song she’d most like to cover, Camila said: “I would never do this, because I feel like it’s an untouchable thing and it’s better left untouched, but ‘Somebody to Love’ by Queen.”
The ‘Crying In The Club’ singer parted ways with ‘X Factor’ finalists Fifth Harmony in 2016, and recently said going solo has allowed her to voice who she really is.
The American-Cuban beauty said: “Making my own music now, it truly is my voice, I’m able to actually talk about who I am, and a big part of that is my culture and my family … How I’m able to represent other people that are Latin is better because now I actually get to talk from my voice.”

Weezer influenced by The Cure and The Clash

OHMYGOSSIP — Weezer’s new album is their “biggest departure” from their original sound.
The band release their 11th LP ‘Pacific Daydream’ later this month and frontman Rivers Cuomo believes fans will be surprised by the new sound, which is inspired by The Cure and The Clash.
He told NME magazine: “‘Pacific Daydream’ is the biggest departure we’ve made from our ’90s Beach Boys grunge sound. We really went for some different things. On guitar, we were really influenced by a lot of British bands like The Cure and The Clash. Instead of stepping on the distortion pedal in the chorus, we’re stepping on the reverb pedal. We listened to a lot of Phil Spector and ‘Pet Sounds’ to give it more of an orchestrated approach. It’s long been a goal of mine to break away from distortion, but I’m delighted that we’ve finally achieved it. At the same time, it still sounds like a sing-along, beach bar party album, mixed with sadness and alienation.”
And he revealed that the band’s follow-up ‘The Black Album’ will be even “darker” and “wildly negative”.
He explained: “‘The Black Album’ is darker. It’s more experimental and wildly negative. It’s experimenting with more modern electronic elements. It has one foot in the future and one foot in the past. The foot in the past would be like The Jesus & Mary Chain.”
Meanwhile, Weezer are set to support Foo Fighters on their upcoming tour and Rivers revealed he considers Dave Grohl and his bandmates to be their “friendly bitter rivals”.
He said: “We’re friends and rivals. Friendly bitter rivals. I don’t think they think of us as rivals because they’re 10 times bigger than us, but that’s how I feel because we came up at the same time and they put their pedal to the metal, became gigantic, and now we’re opening for them on their stadium tour. It’s all good, because they’re obviously amazing and we love the music. We were about to sign off on our own New Zealand and Australia tour, and they gave us a call and were like ‘do you wanna come with us?’ We were like ‘damn, stadiums? Where do I sign? Let’s do this’.”

Marilyn Manson pays tribute to ex-bandmate Daisy Berkowitz

OHMYGOSSIP — Marilyn Manson has paid tribute to his former guitarist Daisy Berkowitz following his death.
The 49-year-old guitarist – whose real name was Scott Putesky – has passed away following a battle with colon cancer, and while the ‘Beautiful People’ hitmaker admitted they didn’t always get along, he recalled making “great music” with the star.
Marilyn posted a throwback picture of the pair on Instagram and captioned the image: “Scott Putesky and I made great music together. We had our differences over the years, but I will always remember the good times more. Everyone should listen to “Man That You Fear” in his honor. That was our favorite. (sic)”
The 48-year-old rocker also posted a link to the Marilyn Manson song ‘Man That You Fear’ from the group’s 1996 album ‘Antichrist Superstar’, which Daisy was halfway through completing when he left the band – which he co-founded – due to creative differences.
But the guitarist still has six song credits on the record.
US rockers Jack Off Jill – who Daisy joined in the late 90s – also paid tribute to the star.
They wrote on Facebook: “Saying good bye to Scott, friend, band mate, artist , hero.. RIP Scott – “always touched by your presence dear.” Daisy Berkowitz (sic)”
Daisy and Marilyn met in 1989 at a Fort Lauderdale club and later set up Marilyn Manson & The Spooky Kids, the original name of the ‘Nobodies’ hitmakers.
Daisy’s moniker was created by combining Daisy Duke from the ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ TV series and the serial killer David Berkowitz, much like the band’s frontman.
Marilyn’s name comes from supermodel Marilyn Monroe, while Manson is the last name of serial killer Charles Manson.

She wrote on Twitter: “It just dawned on me that next month I will have been in this industry for 15 years
“I’ve experienced the great the good the bad and the ugly! And I’m happy for it all.. I wouldn’t change a bit of it !

Liam Gallagher to play Finsbury Park

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has announced a one-off show in London’s Finsbury Park.
The former Oasis frontman has found immense success with his debut solo album ‘As You Were’ after its release earlier this month, and after selling out an extensive arena tour of the UK, he’s now announced he will headline a huge outdoor event at the London park in June 2018.
Liam, 45, will be the main event at the mini-festival, which will see a host of talent take to two stages throughout the day on June 29 next year.
As of the time of writing, no other acts have been announced for the one-day event, though a press release confirms the full line up will be revealed within the coming months.

Despite his success as a solo artist – which saw him sell over 100,000 tickets to his UK tour in a single morning – the ‘Wall of Glass’ hitmaker previously insisted he “never” wanted to pursue a solo career, and would much rather still be in a band, preferably Oasis, who split in 2009.
He said: “I never really wanted to go solo. I still find it all a bit peculiar, having my name above the door, even though that’s just the way it’s got to be.
“But going solo … I still find it a bit odd. I’d much prefer to be in a band. I’d much prefer being in Oasis. I liked having the lads around and having a laugh. But that’s not to be, so solo it is.
“To go back and start another band, we’ve done that with [former band] Beady Eye, and it’s always going to get compared to Oasis. I don’t fancy that. And at the time, going around trying to get guitarists and drummers, I just wasn’t in the headspace for it.”
Liam Gallagher’s UK tour dates:
October 2017
30th – Belfast, The SSE Arena
November 2017
1st – Newcastle, Metro Radio Arena
December 2017

Mark Ronson producing SZA’s new album

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Ronson is producing SZA’s new album.
The R&B singer has revealed she has been recording with the 42-year-old super-producer – who has collaborated with the likes of Bruno Mars, Adele and the late Amy Winehouse – and that fans can also expect to hear tunes she’s made with psychedelic rockers Tame Impala on the LP, the follow-up to her debut album ‘Ctrl’.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times newspaper, SZA – whose real name is Solána Imani Rowe – said: “I’m making an album with Tame Impala and Mark Ronson. When you try to label it, you remove the option for it to be limitless. It diminishes the music.”
The ‘Love Galore’ hitmaker has hit out at people trying to make her music fit a certain mold with how its described, and insisted she has a huge variety of influences that help inspire the songs she writes.
She added: “People grapple with labeling me as hip hop, R&B or pop, and it’s interesting to me. I’m just making music. I listen to Stevie Nicks. I love classical jazz. I love folk. I love rap. I love Modest Mouse.”
SZA, 26, is looking to the future after being surprised by the way her debut full-length record was received, and she is motivated by the goal of making the next LP even better.
Admitting she is nervous about continuing her success, she explained: “I worry so much. Like, ‘Damn, how can I be excellent?’ But it’s a journey. I have to decide what’s excellent to me. Because I’m so stressed out, I have so many words. The next album is going to be the best I ever made in my life.”
