Liam Gallagher slams Alex Turner’s American accent

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has slammed rival Alex Turner’s American drawl.
The 44-year-old rocker has a problem with people like the Arctic Monkeys frontman, who is originally from Sheffield in North England, but after moving across to Los Angeles speaks with an American/English accent.
The former Oasis frontman joked that the 31-year-old singer – whose biggest influence growing up was Oasis’ seminal 1995 LP ‘What’s The Story? (Morning Glory)’ – wouldn’t come home to his parents and calls his mother “mom”, and mocked the ‘R U Mine?’ hitmaker’s Elvis quiff and style.
When asked about singing in his accent by BBC Radio 1 presenter Greg James, Liam replied: “Yeah, the singing’s alright for me, you know what I mean?
“It’s when they do an interview and that later on down the line and they’ve been to America once and they come back and they start speaking American, you know what I mean?
“Like the geezer out of the Arctic Monkeys. He did it didn’t he? He started getting his hair in a quiff and biker leather jackets on, you know what I mean?
“It’s like when he goes back to his mam’s does he really walk in with that biker leather jacket on and go (puts on American accent): ‘Hey mom, can I have some tea?’
“She’s going to give him a clip isn’t she?”
Meanwhile, Liam’s brother and now bitter rival, Noel Gallagher, 50, previously slammed the band.
In 2015, the ‘Some Might Say’ songwriter said he’d “rather drink petrol from the nozzle” than listen to Arctic Monkeys’ songs.
However, in a later interview he said he was talking about their music and not Alex’s “persona”, but still said his interviews are “lacklustre”.
He said previously: “What is there to be offended about?
“I never say anything about their persona. I don’t diss anybody’s character. Alex Turner wouldn’t be offended by that, why should he be?
“I guess he could be by the headlines, because they’re like ‘Noel Calls Queen A ****’, but I was just talking about rock star interviews in general. Alex is a f***ing top dude in a f***ing top band, and a very attractive man. His interviews, on the other hand, are lacklustre.”

The Rolling Stones plan UK dates

OHMYGOSSIP — The Rolling Stones are planning UK gigs for next year.
British fans of the rock group – which includes Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts – were devastated to find out that the band had missed out the UK on their last tour, the No Filter European Tour, earlier this year but Mick has now revealed the group are “getting plans in place” to perform in the UK in 2018.
Mick told The Sun newspaper: “We were disappointed not to perform in the UK on our recent jaunt and we’re looking forward to getting plans in place to do so next year.”
The Rolling Stones’ last big gigs in the UK were back in 2013, when they performed two shows at London’s Hyde Park and also had one of the headline slots at the iconic Glastonbury Festival.
Ronnie made his return to stage for the first time since his battle with lung cancer on the first night of their European tour and said it was a “gift” to be back doing what he loves.
He said: “We’re all equally surprised at how great the vibe is, because we love to make people happy with our music, and it seems to work. It’s like a gift that can’t be bought. It’s an amazing feeling.”
And Keith has reassured fans that the band – who have been going strong for more than five decades – still have plenty of life in them yet.
He added: “We haven’t finished yet. It’s still too early for me to talk about the Stones’ legacy. There’s one thing that we haven’t yet achieved, and that’s to really find out how long you can do this. It’s still such a joy to play with this band that you can’t really let go of it. I’m more interested in learning how far this bunch can take it.”

Shakira postpones German concert after straining vocal cords

OHMYGOSSIP — Shakira has postponed the first night of her tour on “doctor’s orders” after “straining her vocal cords” in rehearsals.
The ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ hitmaker was due start her ‘El Dorado World Tour’ in Koln, Germany on Wednesday night (08.11.17), but has been forced to pull out of the opening night to avoid further damaging her voice.
The 40-year-old star is hoping to recover in time to perform in Paris on November 10, and whilst she is devastated that she had to cancel the show she wants to make sure she can give “everything she has got” at her shows for her fans.
Promoters Live Nation are working to reschedule the cancelled concert at the Lanxess Arena and Shakira is expected to return to the stage in Paris, should she get the “green light” from her doctors.
In a statement to her fans posted on Instagram, Shakria wrote: “To my German fans, during these last few days of rehearsals I have unfortunately strained my vocal cords and doctors have ordered me to go on vocal rest to avoid any greater damage that could keep me from performing.
I’m devastated to have to miss our first show on November 8th in Koln. I love my German fans so much and was looking forward to sharing my first show with you.
As much as it pains me, I know I need to heed the advice of my doctors and recover so I can give you all everything I’ve got once I’m on the road and not risk any further injury.
The Live Nation team is working hard to find a new date for me to come back and share this exciting show with you which I feel is going to be my best one yet.
I am focusing on recovering now to be able to kick off on November 10th in Paris, as soon as I get the green light from my doctors.
Thanks as always from the bottom of my heart for all the support and love you’ve shown me heading into this tour.
I hope to make it worth the wait and to see you all very soon!

Rick Allen was inspired by war veterans

OHMYGOSSIP — Def Leppard’s Rick Allen has launched a new art exhibition tour across the US to help war veterans.
The drummer – who lost his arm in a car crash in 1984 – has felt a connection to those who’ve suffered life changing injuries at war, and his tour ‘Rock Allen: Drums For Peace’ will support the Project Resiliency’s Warrior Resiliency Program.
Speaking to Billboard, he said: “I knew after my accident that something was different about me – good and bad. I never really realized what I was dealing with until I started getting involved with the military community.”
The 53-year-old rock legend visited the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and the “traumatic” experience inspired him to focus his and his wife Lauren Monroe’s efforts with their own Raven Drum Foundation.
He added: “[I was] seeing a lot of potential and a lot of healing. After my visit…I got back to my hotel and called my wife and said, ‘You know, we’ve got all this suffering going on right in front of us, and I’d love to be able to help,’ and we refocused Raven Drum Foundation to work with our wounded warriors.”
Rick began visiting Wounded Warriors support groups, and has explained how it helped him cope with his own battle with post-traumatic stress disorder stemming from his accident.
He said: “I have people I can call if I’m having sort of a crappy day – or a crappy week for that matter. There are people that I can call that I know are gonna give it to me straight and they’re going to talk me down off the ledge, as it were.”
The legendary musician also discussed his love for art, and revealed his passion came even before his love for rock ‘n’ roll.
He added: “I’m not trained but it’s something that I really enjoy doing simply because it takes me to the same place I go when I play music, sort of the mindless place where you’re just in the moment and there are no rules – almost a meditative state.”

Shania Twain plays guest character in video game

OHMYGOSSIP — Shania Twain will star as a guest character in a new mobile video game.
The ‘You’re Still The One’ singer has been confirmed as the first star to feature in the upcoming mobile app ‘Home Street’ by developers Supersolid, who have announced that the country music icon will be the franchise’s first celebrity to be transformed into a cartoon.
Ed Chin, CEO Supersolid, explained: “Shania Twain is an incredibly exciting guest star to launch our first partnership with.
“Her long list of awards and achievements reflect her extraordinary success and popularity across all countries and cultures globally.
“We are sure this will only continue to grow with her brilliant new album ‘Now’ and are delighted to have her as a part of our Home Street community.”
Shania’s appearance will let her virtually engage with fans as her character leads players through stories, while two music videos will also play on a billboard within the new, free home decoration and character simulation game.
The 52-year-old singer will even take part in a special Q&A for players, allowing fans to submit questions.
Meanwhile, Shania recently discussed her latest record ‘Now’ – her first in 15 years – and admitted writing the follow-up to 2002’s ‘Up!’ was therapeutic.
The ‘Man I Feel Like A Woman’ star been through major ups and downs, including being left devastated after she found out her ex-husband Robert Lange and her best friend had an affair, and she found out she had contracted bacterial infection Lyme disease, which nearly saw her lose her voice completely.
The 52-year-old singer explained: “There are a lot of songs that refer to that period so it is completely included. But it was never going to dominate the whole record.
“If I had focused on writing an album closer to that period it would have been way more about that. ‘Poor Me’ – that’s my dwelling song.
“As a songwriter I found that a very good experience. It was extremely therapeutic, it helped me a lot, it was basically my won diary. It helped me overcome so much, you know, pour me another.”

Biffy Clyro’s angry eighth album

OHMYGOSSIP — Biffy Clyro’s eighth album will be “infiltrated” by political anger.
The ‘Wolves of Winter’ rockers released their seventh venture ‘Ellipsis’ in 2016 and are now gearing up to head back into the studio once again, and frontman Simon Neil has said his anger toward the current political climate will no doubt make itself prominent in his writing, even if he doesn’t mean for it to be there at all.
When asked if there will be a political tone to their upcoming album, the 38-year-old musician said: “We won’t be addressing it directly but it will f***ing infiltrate.
“I have more anger in my belly than I’ve had for a while. Everything is being compromised and we need to stand for things so the valuable will be valuable, not fleetingly valuable like f***ing stock markets.
“That’s not going to save humanity.”
The ‘Mountains’ singer – who is joined in the band by brothers James and Ben Johnston – feels as though the world is “falling apart”, and thinks politics needs to “change” in order to make a difference.
He added: “It feels like the world is falling apart. I don’t f***ing get it. I think there is going to be an overhaul. Politics cannot exist the way it is going. It is a dead system. It needs to change.”
But Simon believes young people are the key to changing the world, as he says the internet has made them “more aware and enlightened” than ever before.
Speaking to the Metro newspaper, he said: “I feel really proud of the next generation. They are the first generation of people growing up that have always had the internet. They are going to have a conscience like we have never had. They are more aware and enlightened.”

Matt Cardle returns to Sony for fourth album

OHMYGOSSIP — Matt Cardle has inked a deal with Sony – five years after being dropped by Syco Music.
The 34-year-old singer won the 7th series of ‘The X Factor’ in 2010 and went on to sign with show boss Simon Cowell’s label Syco and Columbia Records, both divisions of Sony, before leaving in 2012.
After being dropped by the label, the ‘When We Collide’ hitmaker’s prescription drug addiction got out of control, and he admits he was in the “darkest” place before entering rehab and dealing with his emotions by channelling them into his new music.
Now, Matt is back with his third record – the follow-up to 2013’s ‘Porcelain’ – and is thrilled to back home at Sony.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper about his return, Matt said: “Signing this new deal with Sony is one of the proudest moments of my life.
“After the highs of ‘X Factor’ I sank to the darkest places I’ve ever been.
“But after overcoming addiction I finally found myself in a place where I was ready and able to create the album I have always wanted to.
“I then spent three years pouring blood, sweat and tears plus all my darkness and my hope into this album.
“I have come home to Sony but I’m in control this time.”
Matt previously said former Spice Girl Mel C saved his life after he battled with his addiction in 2013.
Speaking a year later, he said: “Lots of people picked me up from my lowest … that includes my family and Mel. I know where I went wrong and I know I’ll never go there again.”
The British star was just weeks away from death and only realised he needed to seek help for his problems when he collapsed in the street, began stripping on a train and nearly choked on his vomit.
Speaking at the time, he said: “I was so out of it – I was like a zombie. “The doctor said to me if I’d been left to my own devices for another three or four weeks I might not be here now.”
After four weeks in the rehab facility The Priory in 2014, Matt managed to curb his addiction and start focusing on his music career again.

Marilyn Manson dedicates songs to late relatives

OHMYGOSSIP — Marilyn Manson has dedicated songs on his new album ‘Heaven Upside Down’ to his late parents.
The 48-year-old singer – who formed his own band named after himself in 1989 – has revealed the single on his latest studio album of the same name is a tribute to his parent, Hugh Warner, who tragically passed away in 2014.
Speaking to Yahoo Music about his latest project, the gothic rocker said: “The record was just finished, for the most part, the day before I flew to see him. And I wasn’t expecting him to be as ill as he was. He died within an hour of me seeing him. I think he was waiting for me. I didn’t get to play him the record. I got to tell him I loved him and say goodbye. I dedicated this record to my father. And, sadly, I dedicated the last record to my mother, who was dying. So, it’s an in-between situation.”
The ‘Sweet Dream’s hitmaker has lost a number of of loved ones, including his mother Barbara Wyer and his “long-term best friend” his cat Lily White, and he believes his LP shows him “understanding loss”.
He explained: “The closest thing I could say I had to a long-term best friend or child, strange as it is, was my cat, Lily White, and she died.
“So I did get a sense of understanding loss between last album and this one, unfortunately, through reality.”
However, Marilyn believes hi father wouldn’t have wanted him to dwell on the tragedies and be “held back” by the deaths, but to become “stronger” because of what he has been through.
He said: “I just know that my father would have wanted me to move forward and to be stronger and not to be held back by it. That’s not ignoring it or not caring about it. It’s just mourning it in a different way — just embracing it as a part of what makes you who you are. And you know he would want to have passed on the good strengths to it.
“And it’s a better time than ever to remain who I am. I’m as real as it gets. I’m not trying to be someone I’m not. I wanted to be someone I wasn’t when I was younger. I became that. Now I am that. And now I have to live by that. And I like being that. And I want to be the best at it. So that’s a little bit different than trying to be something you’re not.”

Paul McCartney rocks out with Steven Van Zandt in London

OHMYGOSSIP — Steven Van Zandt performed with Sir Paul McCartney at his concert in London on Saturday night (04.11.17) to “finish some unfinished business” dating back to 2012.
The 66-year-old guitarist is a member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band and was on stage with the ‘Born To Run’ songwriter when he performed with McCartney at the Hard Rock Calling festival in London’s Hyde Park five years ago.
The unexpected coming together of the two music legends was cut short when the power to the stage was unexpectedly shut off due to the rockers’ breaking Westminster Council’s strict concert curfew, leaving 76,000 revellers and the artists bitterly disappointed.
Appearing at The Roundhouse at the weekend as part of his Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul European Tour – his first solo dates in Europe for 25 years – Steven announced to the audience that he wanted to “finish some unfinished business” and introduced his friend McCartney, 75, onto the stage.
They then performed The Beatles classic ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ to huge cheers from the fans in attendance.
Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul are also playing shows in Bristol, Leeds, Birmingham, Glasgow and Liverpool, before ending their UK dates in Newcastle on November 16.
The band then will perform in Germany, The Netherlands, Spain and Italy.

Ozzy Osbourne to headline Download 2018

OHMYGOSSIP — Ozzy Osbourne has been confirmed as the first headliner for Download Festival 2018.
The Black Sabbath frontman – who goes by the nickname The Prince of Darkness – will take to the stage without his bandmates at the annual heavy metal extravaganza held at Donington Park from June 8 to June 10, 2018, in Leicestershire, England.
Last year, the ‘War Pigs’ group – also comprised of Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi – played one of their final shows at the festival, and the 68-year-old rocker is showing no signs of wanting to retire anytime soon as he is set to carry on with his solo career.
Download promoter Andy Copping said: “We’re unbelievably excited to have Ozzy as one of the headliners next year. Already hailing from the midlands, Ozzy Osbourne is no stranger to Download, and after Black Sabbath closed the festival in 2016, how could I not ask The Prince Of Darkness to come back all on his own? The Download family are without a shadow of a doubt, in for a treat.”
The performance follows Ozzy’s final performance with the band in their hometown at Birmingham’s Genting Arena in February.
The ‘Paranoid’ singer previously insisted he won’t be quitting music, as he fears if he gives up he could drop dead.
After the band ended, he said: “They’ve retired but I haven’t. It’s like I’m jumping off one boat on to another.
“People forget, I was with Sabbath from 68 to 79, but I’ve been on my own from 79 until now.
“I’ve been on my own thing for a lot longer than when I was with Sabbath. I love what Sabbath did for me and I love what I did for Sabbath, but it’s not the be-all, end-all of my own whole career.
“People around my age go, ‘I’m 65 now. I’m retired.’ Then they f***ing die. My father got a bit of cash from the job he had, did the garden and died.
And I’m going, ‘That’s a bit of an anticlimax after working so many years in a factory.’
“I ain’t retiring. People still want to see me, so what’s there to retire from?”
Further acts are expected to be announced in the coming months.

Naughty Boy to reunite Jonas Brothers

OHMYGOSSIP — Naughty Boy is planning on reuniting the Jonas Brothers after working with Joe Jonas on his new single.
The 32-year-old producer has teamed up with the DNCE star on his solo song ‘One Chance To Dance’ and believes he’s got what it takes to get the sibling trio – also comprised of Nick and Kevin Jonas – to make a comeback after their split in 2013.
The ‘Runnin’ hitmaker – whose real name is Shahid Khan – said of the brothers’ strong bond: “I would love to bring them back as a band one day – do not rule that out.
“I know those brothers are close and support each other.
“I found out that they are really into MMA (mixed martial arts).
“I was surprised they are into that sport and quite active in it, maybe that’s the way it will happen.”
Speaking about his song with Joe, Naughty said: “It’s Joe’s first single as a solo artist. Although he’s been a Jonas Brother and has a big fan-base with DNCE, he’s so cool and has a great voice, and it makes sense for him to be making music with someone new.”
And he even hinted that he might ask Nick to feature on a remix of the track.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: “I’m a big fan of Nick too. We can get Nick on the remix.”
Joe, 27, said in 2015 that a reunion “could easily happen”.
The ‘Cake By The Ocean’ singer said at the time that he hasn’t ruled out reforming with Nick and Kevin and that they could easily record a new LP together in the future because they still “get along” well and there was no animosity when they split.
He said: “Seeing where things will lead us. It’s easy to say we’re done and that we’re never doing it again, but then we both look at each other and go, ‘We obviously get along.’ And who knows – years from now we could be like, ‘All right, let’s make a record.’ It could easily happen.”
The Jonas Brothers came to prominence after starring on the Disney Channel network with their 2008 movie ‘Camp Rock’ and its sequel, ‘Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.’
Both Nick and Joe have enjoyed solo careers, while Kevin – the eldest brother aged 30 – went on a mini five-month tour of the US with Joe in May 2014.

Eminem set for MTV EMAs performance?

OHMYGOSSIP — Eminem is reportedly set to perform at the MTV European Music Awards (EMAs) this Sunday (12.11.17).
The ‘Lose Yourself’ rapper is said to be planning on unleashing his ninth studio LP, which has the working title of ‘RƎVIVAL’, at the annual ceremony held at London’s The SSE Arena, Wembley this weekend.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “This is Eminem fully relaunching his career after a few years out and gathering his thoughts.
“It will be a massive performance.”
Speculation has been rife that Taylor Swift is to perform songs from her new record ‘Reputation’ at the bash, however, it is still said to be “up in the air” as to whether she’ll perform along with Miley Cyrus.
The insider added: “Organisers have held talks with Taylor and Miley , but things are still up in the air. All will be revealed on Sunday.”
The ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker has a history with MTV after Kanye West notoriously stormed the stage at the Video Music Awards in 2009 because he thought Beyonce deserved the Best Female Video prize over Taylor.
However, a source said previously she is tipped to debut new songs off the follow-up to 2014’s ‘1989’ on the night.
An insider said: “Taylor Swift is the number one target for the EMAs.
“She has a great relationship with MTV, despite all her previously Kanye West run-ins, and it would be a wonderful way to perform songs off the new album live.”
Liam Payne was the last star officially confirmed for this weekend.
The 24-year-old singer is preparing to release his debut solo album, and he will take to the stage next month as part of a star-studded line-up to celebrate the best of the music industry.
Hip hop trail blazer Travis Scott and French Montana are also on the line-up.
Clean Bandit will team up with collaborators Zara Larsson, Sean Paul, Anne-Marie and Julia Michaels for a very special moment.
They join previously announced artists Shawn Mendes, Demi Lovato, Camila Cabello, Kesha, The Killers and Stormzy.
This year’s EMAs’ host Rita Ora will also take to the stage for a performance.
While further announcements will be made in the lead-up to the big night, more presenters have been confirmed.
James Bay, David Guetta and will.i.am have all been added to the list, joining Natalie Dormer, Madison Beer and Sabrina Carpenter.
