Annie Lennox announces charity talk and concert

OHMYGOSSIP — Annie Lennox is to reflect on her 40-year career in the music business and perform her biggest hits at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London next March.
The former Eurythmics singer will entertain an intimate crowd of less than 2,000 people at the iconic venue, singing songs including 1983’s ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)’ and ‘Here Comes The Rain Again’ for ‘Annie Lennox – An Evening of Music and Conversation’.
All proceeds from the evening will be donated to The Circle, the charitable organisation she founded to help create transformative change in the lives of girls and women facing the challenges of disempowerment across the globe.
Speaking about getting the chance to reminisce on her younger days, Annie – who is also a political activist and philanthropist – told The Independent newspaper: “It’s very interesting reflecting at this point in my life,” says Lennox, now 62. “When I was younger I was looking ahead and never knew where I was heading.”
The 62-year-old singer – who was joined by David A. Stewart in the duo, who have reunited on-and-off since going on hiatus in 1990 – has admitted that she is unlikely to write new music because she doesn’t feel songs bring about change these days.
She said: “It’s a strange thing – writing songs was the main focus of my life but I don’t feel like I want to write songs anymore.
“Are there any songs that have actually inspired people into action?
“People write and sing about injustice. Music does shed a light on emotions and injustices, yet at the same time, when it comes to actual change, we must take more steps than just singing.”
Annie’s last track she penned was 2010’s ‘Universal Child’ , which she wrote for charity, from her LP ‘A Christmas Cornucopia’.
The evening is supported by Gucci, whose Chime for Change Campaign has been championing Girls’ and women’s empowerment since its inception in 2013.
Tickets for ‘Annie Lennox – An Evening of Music and Conversation’ will go on sale at 10am on November 10 2017. They will be available to purchase online at ticketmaster.co.uk/annielennox or by phoning the Sadler’s Theatre box office.

Liam Gallagher wants Skepta for Finsbury Park

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher wants Skepta to perform at his Finsbury Park concert.
The 45-year-old rocker will top the bill at his own one-day festival at the London landmark where he last performed with Oasis back in 2002, and he’s hoping it will be just as “dangerous”.
In an interview with Dave Berry before his secret Absolute Radio gig at London’s Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club, he said: “I loved that gig, man. It was really f**king dangerous and I liked it. So hopefully we’ll have a bit of the same.”
And letting slip who he’s looking to book for the gig, he said: “It can’t all be 90s stuff, man.
“We’ve got to mix it up a bit. I’d like to get Skepta playing, have something a bit different.”
The Britpop group’s frontman took his ‘bromance’ with the grime star to the next level by buying him a birthday present, in September.
And he also invited the ‘Shutdown’ rapper to join him on stage to perform “that natural mystic tune” – which could be referring to late reggae legend Bob Marley’s 1977 hit ‘Natural Mystic’, though it’s not sure which song Liam is referring too – when he goes out on the road in December.
The ‘For What It’s Worth’ singer celebrated his 45th birthday September 21, and Skepta reached out to the rocker to let him know he turned 35 just two days before him.
Much to Skepta’s surprise, Liam wrote back telling him he’s got him a gift and to “stay tuned”.
After Liam tweeted: “Life begins at 45 then as you were LFUKING x (sic)”
Skepta replied: “F**k. Your birthday is 2 days after mine, yeah that makes sense. Happy new year brother as you were – SK (sic)”
And Liam wrote back: “Yes Virgo bro when you coming round my way I got a bday present for ya stay tuned there’s a natural mystic blowing true the air as you were (sic)”
He continued: “I’m gonna do that natural mystic tune on my tour you up for getting up and down if your around LG x (sic)”
Skepta joked that he’ll need to step up his security because a Liam and Skepta performance won’t be “taken lightly”.
The Londoner replied: “Of course. Tell security to double up, LG and Skepta together is not something to be taken lightly as you were – SK x (sic)”
Declaring his love for the ‘That’s Not Me’ star, Liam previously said: “Man like Skepta keeping it real. Got to stand for something.”
Liam kicks off his UK tour in support of his debut solo LP ‘As You Were’ on December 1 at the First Direct Arena in Leeds.

Dannii Minogue returns with Sia-penned song Galaxy

OHMYGOSSIP — Dannii Minogue is releasing her Sia-penned comeback single on Friday (10.11.17).
The 44-year-old Australian singer – who is the young sister of pop princess Kylie Minogue – hasn’t released new music since 2015 single ‘Summer of Love’, but has unveiled her new song ‘Galaxy’ which she worked on with the ‘Cheap Thrills’ hitmaker.
Speaking about how nervous she was sharing her ideas for the track to Sia, Dannii said: “Sending my version of the song to Sia was nerve-wrecking but she really liked it.”
The ‘Put The Needle On It’ hitmaker might be back, but says she’s only going to be dropping music and touring “sporadically” as it’s just “fun” for her as she doesn’t want to be a “slave” to record labels or the charts.
She said: “Music is fun for me now.
“I’ve set it up so I can do fun things like tours and releasing music, yet do it sporadically, because I don’t want to be a slave to it.
“I need everything to revolve around me having a life.”
The brunette beauty hasn’t brought out a record since 2007’s ‘Club Disco’ LP, and since then she has been trying to adjust to how the music industry works now.
She said in 2015: “I’m trying to take it all on board and navigate everything that’s going on. I definitely have the bug again.”
Dannii has realised just how much the rise in digital music has transformed the way records are produced and promoted, but she believes one thing that hasn’t altered is that it still “comes down to making music you love”.
She said previously: “The music industry has changed beyond recognition since I last had a record out. It’s all downloads and online now. But it still comes down to making music you love.”
The ‘Perfection’ singer previously said that something was “holding her back” from returning to her pop music career, but now she is “settled” she is ready to start again.
She said: “I’ve been wanting to do music for ages but something was holding me back.
“Now I feel really settled. I feel like I’m in a personal space where I can do it and it’s going to be fun.”

Eminem teases new song Walk On Water?

OHMYGOSSIP — Eminem appears to be teasing a new song called ‘Walk on Water’.
The 45-year-old rapper took to Instagram on Wednesday night (08.11.17) to share a doctor’s note with the words written on it along with the advice of “take as needed”.
The note also has the phone number “1-833-2GET-REV” and the website www.askaboutrevival.com printed on it.
Those who click on the URL are taken to a fake drug website, which is all about conditions which the factious drug REVIVAL can treat.
Along with a video the homepage reads: “Are you ready for REVIVAL?
REVIVAL is proven to effectively treat people with Atrox Rithimus. If you’ve tried other treatments without getting the AR symptom relief you need, REVIVAL could be music to your ears.
“Hikers in video not actual AR sufferers/hikers. (sic)”
‘Walk on Water’ looks to be the lead single from the ‘Lose Yourself’ hitmaker’s forthcoming ninth studio LP, which just so happens to be titled ‘RƎVIVAL’.
Eminem is yet to explain the link between the medicine and his new music.
The song will be the rapper’s first new music since 2015’s ‘Kings Never Die’, which featured Gwen Stefani.
All signs appear to be alluding to ‘RƎVIVAL’ being part of a trilogy, following 2010’s ‘Recovery’ and 2009’s ‘Relapse’.
The single teaser comes after reports that the hip-hop icon – whose real name is Marshall Mathers – is in talks to perform at the MTV European Music Awards (EMAs) this Sunday (12.11.17) at London’s The SSE Arena, Wembley.
A source said recently: “This is Eminem fully relaunching his career after a few years out and gathering his thoughts.
“It will be a massive performance.”

Fergie: Making my new album was cathartic

OHMYGOSSIP — Fergie found making her new album to be a cathartic process.
The 42-year-old singer-songwriter’s latest release, ‘Double Dutchess’, was made in the midst of her much-discussed split from her ex-husband Josh Duhamel, and she’s confessed the experience proved to be “therapeutic” for her.
Reflecting on the album-making process, Fergie explained: “It’s therapeutic and I really want to feel something. Not just a little bit, I like to go big – go big or go home when it comes to emotion. Basically that goes into everything I do.”
Fergie also revealed that she has a number of go-to singers she likes to listen to when she’s experiencing personal troubles.
The American star, whose eight-year marriage ended earlier in 2017, told PEOPLE: “I have my go-to songs by Fiona Apple, Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige, Alanis Morissette.
“Those are the ones that I go to and I play over and over again if I’m going through a break-up or if I’m going through a hard time and I need those strong, powerful, intense emotions. I need to hear somebody sing those words of exactly how I’m feeling to get through them.”
And Fergie hopes she can perform the same role for other women around the world.
She shared: “If I can be that help to get anyone through the tough time they’re going through, that’s really the most that I can ask for as an artist. That to me is true success.
“For the rest of my life I will have touched somebody with that emotion, and that means so much to me.”

Liam Gallagher praises psychedelic potato peeler

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has praised the potato peeler at his London gig on Tuesday night (07.11.17) describing him as “truly psychedelic”.
Ahead of the show at Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club in London for Absolute Radio, the former Oasis frontman had called for a fan to sheer the skin off a spud during his performance, a double-edged joke at the expense of his estranged brother and former bandmate Noel.
The ‘Greedy Soul’ rocker often calls Noel a potato in his Twitter jibes and since the 50-year-old guitarist performed tracks from his upcoming third LP ‘Who Built The Moon? with the assistance of a woman playing a pair of scissors on UK music show ‘Later… With Jools Holland’, 45-year-old Liam has joked he is going to have equally odd DIY instruments accompany his band.
Addressing the frenzied potato peeling during his rendition of ‘Greedy Soul’, Liam tweeted: “To the peeler who peeled his little heart out last night you my friend are truly out there, psychedelic even, as you were King Parka Monkey x (sic)”
Footage has also now emerged of a male fan in the front row snipping a pair of scissors as Liam sings, leading his Twitter followers to ask for some praise for the guy who has been dubbed “Scissor Monkey”.
Liam’s decision to anoint himself “King Parka Monkey” is a reference to comments Noel made in a recent Q magazine interview in which the ‘Holy Mountain’ singer stated he didn’t care if the hardcore Oasis fans, who he dubbed “parka monkeys” in a reference to his brother’s Pretty Green clothing line which is popular with their following, liked his new album which he recorded with electronic music producer David Holmes.
Noel said: “Half are saying, ‘This is f***ing s**t. This can’t be the guy who wrote ‘Live Forever’ and the other half are saying ‘This is f***ing amazing’ and that’s not a place I’ve ever been.
“[Fans expect] the strumming of the guitar and the melancholy songs of lost love or lost youth, but with a hopeful chorus. But that’s not where I am now. I know that’s what people want, but f**k what they want.
“The parka monkeys are going to be like, ‘A f***ing French bird on a track? No mate, not having it. It’s not rock ‘n’ roll. Well no, it isn’t. Whose saying it is?”

Paris Hilton to release ‘techno-pop’ album

OHMYGOSSIP — Paris Hilton is eyeing up a return to music with a new album inspired by “deep house, techno-pop and electro-pop”.
The reality TV star and club DJ released her debut record ‘Paris’ in 2006, and it has been a long wait for a follow-up – but now it’s been revealed she has plans for her second LP.
Time magazine spent some time with Paris during a recent DJ set and she promised the publication that fans could expect a “whole new sound” from the new tracks.
The 36-year-old singer named the likes of Katy Perry, DJ Chuckie, Michael Jackson and Madonna amongst her biggest influences, and said the album would boast a “deep house, techno-pop and electro-pop” sound.
Paris – the great-granddaughter of hotel mogul Conrad Hilton – also took aim at her haters, and dismissed criticisms regarding her claim to fame.
She added: “Inventing getting paid to party – I’m sorry, people want to hate on that? I think it’s pretty awesome.”
The star was DJing at the Amnesia club in Ibiza when the magazine shadowed her, and she played “techno remixes” of classic hits like ‘Wonderwall’ by Oasis and Michael Jackson’s ‘P.Y.T.’
Reports of a new album suggest Paris has had a change of heart, after hinting over summer that stand-a-lone singles could be the way forward for her musical career.
She said at the time: “I’m mostly focused on just singles, I think that’s just how it is nowadays with the music industry. It’s not really about albums. So yeah I’ve been working on my second album forever, but I’m also running a huge business and doing a million other things.”

Liam Gallagher gets fan to peel a potato during gig

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher’s plea for a fan to peel a potato at his London gig this week was answered by a vegetable-wielding man on Tuesday night (07.11.17).
The former Oasis frontman made the unusual request as a double-edged joke dig at his estranged brother Noel’s expense, as potato is his favourite insult to hurl at his looks on Twitter.
His plea for a spud to be part of his band’s sound is also another swipe at his sibling’s scissor player who joined the High Flying Birds during his performance of ‘She Taught Me How To Fly’ – from his upcoming psychedelic album ‘Who Built The Moon?’ – on weekly UK music show ‘Later… With Jools Holland’.
Ahead of his show at London’s Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club on Tuesday (7.11.17), Liam tweeted: “I’m looking for somebody to peel some spuds live on stage tonight at this gig in Bethnal Green must have own peeler as you were LG x (sic)”
One fan stepped up to the plate for the Britpop legend – who recently topped the charts with debut solo album ‘As You Were’ – and was seen in the crowd skinning a spud as Liam rocked out at the gig, hosted by Absolute Radio.
It comes after Liam, 45, didn’t hold back when he was asked about his 50-year-old brother’s experimental moment.
A fan asked him on Twitter: “You got anyone on the scissors tonight?”
And Liam quipped: “Im afraid not but I do have somebody sharpening a pencil it sounds mega with a bit of reverb on it proper out there gear (sic)”
When asked the same question by another follower, he wrote: “I’m afraid not but I do have somebody sticking stickers in a book sounds mega a bit of reverb on we’ll out there gear (sic)”
He also responded to another follower: “I do have somebody peeling a banana on stage sounds mega with a bit of reverb proper out there gear (sic)”

Camila Cabello got pop advice from Taylor Swift

OHMYGOSSIP — Camila Cabello turned to Taylor Swift for advice while she was recording her upcoming debut solo album ‘The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving’.
The 20-year-old star quit Fifth Harmony in December 2016 to strike out on her own and when she was in the studio laying down tracks for her LP she played several tracks to the ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ singer to get some feedback from the pop queen.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, she revealed: “When I first went into the studio I showed her a bunch of my songs and she gave me advice and listened and said, ‘Oh this is really cool.’ ”
Camila hasn’t seen Taylor, 27, for a while but the pair are due to run into each other at the MTV European Music Awards which take place in London this weekend.
Camila will be performing at the prestigious ceremony, which is being held at The SSE Arena in Wembley, London, and she has told everyone to expect something special from her set.
She said: “Even though I haven’t done it yet I think it’s going to be my favourite performance of the whole year. It’s a really big stage.”
Meanwhile, Camila has also admitted to relying on her good friend Taylor for dating advice.
The brunette beauty revealed that she and the ‘Shake It Off’ star – who has previously dated the likes of Harry Styles, Calvin Harris and Tom Hiddleston – spend most of their time talking about boys and “stupid crushes”.
Camila explained: “I feel like we have something really cool where we can just be honest with each other, and we can just be girls, talking about stupid crushes. It’s the best.”

Harry Styles’ label boss wants more music

OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Styles’ record label boss wants him to emulate the likes of Sir Elton John and the late David Bowie by releasing albums on a regular basis.
Sony CEO Rob Stringer has admitted the industry has changed since the era of bands like The Clash – who released their self-titled debut, ‘Give ‘Em Enough Rope’ and ‘London Calling’ between 1977 and 1979 – but he doesn’t like the idea of a long wait between artist’s LPs.
Stringer thinks Harry should be thinking about his next release now, whilst he is touring his debut solo record.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper at the Music Industry Trust, he said: “I’d like Harry to make music regularly … As Bowie, Elton John and The Clash proved, they could put out records every 10 months.
“It’s harder to do that now because the business is more mature and the promotional process is longer.”
As part of One Direction, Harry released – and extensively toured – five albums over a five year span, with ‘Up All Night’ (2011), ‘Take Me Home’ (2012), ‘Midnight Memories’ (2013), ‘Four’ (2014) and ‘Made in the A.M.’ (2015).
In May 2017, the 23-year-old singer released his self-titled debut solo album, but admitted he came close to quitting music altogether when he suffered from writer’s block.
He said: “I’d done a couple of writing sessions and they hadn’t gone so well and I got in this hole of ‘I don’t wanna make music any more’ I just had this massive block, then went into a room with three guys I hadn’t met before. You want to be honest when you’re writing, but it’s hard to sit in a room and talk about stuff that’s happened and been honest about when you’ve made mistakes and stuff like that. When I felt comfortable with these guys straight away, that’s when I knew who I want to make the album with.”

Ashanti says RnB music has been marginalised

OHMYGOSSIP — Ashanti thinks RnB music has been marginalised on the radio.
The 37-year-old singer-songwriter released her self-titled debut album back in 2002, when the genre dominated the airwaves, but Ashanti now feels it’s increasingly difficult for RnB stars to achieve mainstream recognition.
The singer – whose new single, ‘Say Less’, features Ty Dolla $ign – explained: “When you’re listening to the radio, there’s not a lot of room for RnB. I think that it’s about finding that happy medium and having some merit in what you’re saying and creating a bop.”
Ashanti is poised to release her first album since 2014’s ‘Braveheart’, and she’s promised her loyal fans that it’ll ultimately prove to be worth the wait.
Speaking to Billboard, the American star shared: “I’ve been working on some incredible records. I’m excited for 2018!”
Meanwhile, Ashanti previously claimed that social media has transformed the music industry.
She said, too, that at the height of her popularity, she was probably working harder than the emerging artists of today.
Ashanti explained: “When my first album came out, we didn’t have Twitter or Instagram. If I had been able to tweet where I was, taking jets here and there, performing in Monaco, the clothes and the cars – it would have been very different. Technology changes and the sound changes.
“I feel like there was a lot more work we had to put in back then. When you were recording in the studio, you really had to record eight tracks to get harmonies.
“Now you can press a button. You couldn’t do that back then. But it depends on the artist. Your hunger and work ethic has to always remain the same.”

Taylor Swift reveals Reputation track list

OHMYGOSSIP — Taylor Swift has revealed the track listing for ‘Reputation’.
The 27-year-old singer’s sixth studio album is due to hit shelves in just three days time on Friday (10.11.17), and in honour of the rapidly approaching date, the star has taken to Instagram to share a picture of the record’s track listing.
Posting a picture of her face with the track names written across it, she simply wrote: “3 days until #reputation (sic)”
Most notably, the second track on the album, entitled ‘End Game’, is a collaborative track which will bring her back together with her best friend Ed Sheeran, as well as rapper Future.
Taylor and Ed, 26, previously worked together on 2012 track ‘Everything Has Changed’, and the flame-haired singer had previously hinted that the pair could reunite for another song.
When asked if he would ever collaborate with Taylor again in an interview in March this year, Ed simply teased: “Certainly in our lifetime.”
During the same interview, the ‘Castle on the Hill’ hitmaker accurately predicted Taylor would be releasing new music at the end of the year.
He added: “Taylor isn’t going to be releasing until probably the end of this year. Christmas is the smartest time to release because that’s when everyone buys records.”
‘Reputation’ also includes the four tracks Taylor has released to the public in recent weeks, ‘Look What You Made Me Do’, ‘…Ready For It?’, ‘Gorgeous’, and ‘Call It What You Want’.
The track listing picture also lists Taylor has the sole executive producer of the record, which is a first for one of her studio ventures.
It also lists her as a producer, alongside Jack Antonoff, Max Martin, and Shellback.
