Kim Wilde releasing metal anti-Christmas song

OHMYGOSSIP — Kim Wilde is releasing an anti-Christmas song with thrash metal group Lawnmower Deth.
In 1987, Kim and late comedian Mel Smith brought out a cover of Brenda Lee’s ‘Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree’ to raise money for Comic Relief, reaching number three in the UK Singles Chart and making her a permanent fixture of festive playlists.
But on Friday (01.12.17), 57-year-old Kim is unveiling the less than merry ‘F U Kristmas’ with the rockers in time for the holidays, following their appearance together at Donnington’s Download Festival in June 2016.
Kim described the performance as “a personal highlight” of her career, and has suggested a collaboration with Lawnmower Deth was always going to happen, and it so happened the group wanted to make an alternative Christmas tune.
She said: “Lawnmower Deth came up with the idea of us collaborating on a Christmas tune and I said yes immediately, feeling our worlds had become inextricably linked.”
In 1991, the band covered Kim’s huge hit ‘Kids In America’, sparking a genuine friendship and connection between the acts.
Lawnmother Deth frontman Pete Lee has described the upcoming anti-Christmas single as “the greatest project” the group have ever been involved in.
He said: “It wasn’t a polar leap to ask Kim to join us at Download Festival in 2016. Now, working on a Christmas single together, some would say it’s the most bizarre juxtaposition since KLF and Extreme Noise Terror at the BRITS, I prefer a bunch of lovable chancers married with pure pop royalty.”
Discussing the writing process, Kim explained: “We have an utterly preposterous Christmas single.”

Sarah Harding meets with producers in LA

OHMYGOSSIP — Sarah Harding has held meetings with music producers in the US as she looks to relaunch her solo career.
The former Girls Aloud star wants to get an album out, her first full release on her own since her 2015 EP ‘Threads’, and has been to Los Angeles to meet with various studio maestros about the possibility of working together.
Sarah has also met with some filmmakers to discuss potential acting opportunities, following her roles in films ‘St Trinian’s 2: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold’ and ‘Run for Your Wife’ and stint in UK soap ‘Coronation Street’ in 2015.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, she said: “Of course I’ve been singing. I’ve been to LA doing a little bit of work. I’ve been meeting up with producers and maybe some directors. And some bits and bobs.”
Girls Aloud – also comprised of Nadine Coyle, Cheryl Tweedy, Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts – split up back in 2013, and fans will be excited to hear what Sarah has been working on since the group came to an end.
After winning ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ in August, the 36-year-old singer jetted off to Los Angeles, and while moving home has stalled work on music and acting, she still has big plans.
She explained: “It’s been a stressful sort of month with the move and not knowing where any of my stuff is because I went to LA and by the time I came back from LA I was moved.”
Whilst her pop career has stalled Sarah – who recently split from ‘The Bachelor’ hunk Chad Johnson, who she met in the ‘CBB’ house – has seen some of her ex-bandmates go on to do well in charts.
Cheryl, 34, has released four well-received solo albums, with her last release coming in 2014 with ‘Only Human’.
Nadine, 32, brought her debut solo album ‘Insatiable’ out in 2010 before Girls Aloud broke up and after seven years away from the music business she returned this year with her single ‘Go to Work’.

First Prince merchandise released since his death

OHMYGOSSIP — Prince’s estate has released the first line of official merchandise since the singer’s death in April 2016.
The iconic ‘Purple Rain’ musician tragically passed away last year aged 57, and now the ‘Hit N Run’ pop up online store has been announced, running until Sunday (03.12.17).
The new collection includes a selection of T-shirts themed after albums like ‘1999’, ‘Parade’ and ‘Controversy’, while fans can also pick up hoodies – including a ‘Take Me With U’ zip-up – and a purple love symbol hat.
It comes after a touring exhibition ‘My Name Is Prince’ launched at The O2 arena in London last month, which will be at the venue until January 2018.
It follows similar attractions like ‘David Bowie Is’ and Pink Floyd’s show ‘Their Mortal Remains’, and houses a range of costumes, instruments and artefacts from across Prince’s storied career.
Prince’s impact on the music is still very much prevalent over a year after his death.
Last week, former Oasis rocker Liam Gallagher paid tribute to the pop legend when he performed ‘Live Forever’ during his concert at the First Avenue venue in Minneapolis, Prince’s home city.
Before playing his 1994 hit, Liam, 45, told the crowd: “I reckon you want ‘Live Forever’, yeah? This one’s for Prince, this is his gaff (home) and that so might as well dedicate to him, yeah.”

Liam Gallagher to receive Godlike Genius award

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher will receive the Godlike Genius award at the 2018 NME Awards.
The ‘Wall of Glass’ hitmaker will follow in the footsteps of the likes of Manic Street Preachers, Coldplay, Paul Weller, Dave Grohl, his own brother Noel Gallagher – who was given the honour in 2012 – and last year’s winners Pet Shop Boys in picking up the prestigious accolade at the annual ceremony at the O2 Academy in Brixton, south London, on February 14, and the former Oasis frontman thinks the prize has been a long time coming.
He said: “I wanna thank the NME for their Godlike Genius award. It’s about f**king time as far as I’m concerned.”
And NME bosses admit it was a “no brainer” to pass the award on to Liam this year.
Editor in Chief Mike Williams says: “Every once in a while you’re faced with a decision that you might call a total no-brainer. Giving Liam Gallagher the 2018 Godlike Genius award falls into that category.
“Through his history, the tunes, the swagger and the sense of humour, Liam is one of the most iconic rock stars of all time. He’s a frontman who knows the job description – look cool, belt it out, be totally Godlike – and I can’t wait to see him take his rightful place on the throne in Brixton in February”
As well as picking up his award at the VO5 NME Awards, Liam will also perform a number of his songs on the night.
Voting is currently open for the other categories at the awards, and fans can buy tickets for the event from Friday (01.12.17).

Black Eyed Peas to reform in VR form?

OHMYGOSSIP — will.i.am says Fergie could rejoin Black Eyed Peas – but only in Virtual Reality (VR) form.
The 32-year-old musician has no interest in going back to the past and releasing new music with his old bandmates, but he would be keen to do a futuristic VR experience for fans.
The producer and ‘The Voice UK’ coach said: “There are infinite possibilities for the world to create.
“We could create virtual Black Eyed Peas.
“You could go back to when we started the group in 1998 and experience that story, you could go back to when we first got signed in 1997 when we first got signed to Interscope.
“What we were thinking in 2003 when we put Fergie in the group, there’s so much you can do.”
However, he says it’s highly unlikely the real-life band will release new music because there is “no money” in it.
Speaking to Mirror Online, will said: “What you’re asking is, ‘Hey, are you going to make 14 songs the way you used to before, and put it on a streaming platform for no money?’ Probably not.
“Like, why? Why you going to go back to yesterday when you know the amount of money you made yesterday won’t be made doing it that way today?
“But, when you create worlds, hell yeah I’d like to build a world that Fergie’s a part of.”
The ‘Where is the Love?’ hitmaker isn’t interested in reliving the past, and would much rather create new ideas for the characters in their Marvel Comic, futurist B-Boy Zombie Thriller, ‘Black Eyed Peas Present: Masters of the Sun ― The Zombie Chronicles’.
He added: “I want to create worlds with new characters, so ‘Masters of the Sun’ isn’t just me, apl.de.ap and Taboo.
“We created new characters, new ideas, things that can live forever.
“There’s a limited shelf-life for what Fergie, me, Ap and Taboo do as creators but now you can create s**t that can live for a long-ass time.”
Black Eyed Peas haven’t released new music since 2010’s ‘The Beginning’ LP.

U2 announce one-off live Amazon Music experience

OHMYGOSSIP — U2 have announced a new live 24-hour programme with Amazon Music.
The Irish rock legends – Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. – will give fans the chance to look back at their history as one of the world’s biggest bands in the one-off show titled ‘The U2 Experience’, which airs tonight (29.11.17), and will feature exclusive interviews, behind the scenes commentary and live performances from the ‘With or Without’ you hitmakers.
Guitarist The Edge says he think the most “unique” aspect of ‘Songs of Experience’ – their 67th studio album – and the band in general, is that not many groups have made so much music with the original line-up intact.
Speaking about the record, he said: “I hope you don’t need to know anything about U2, or anything about the context, to enjoy [Songs of Experience].
“I think it’s an album of just classic songs, great melodies, great hooks, great lyrics.
“I think there’s very few bands in the history of rock and roll that have been around and made as many albums as we have with the same line-up … that perspective is unique, you know? On the last record [‘Songs of Innocence’] we wrote about where we came from.
“How this band came together, Dublin of the late 70s early 80s, and this new record is the companion album.
“But it’s from this current perspective now … So many years later, what have we learned?”
‘The U2 Experience’ will be available via Amazon Music for UK fans and listeners at 11pm today, to anyone who has an Amazon account at www.amazon.co.uk/theu2experience. Immediately following the 24-hour show, the U2’s new album, ‘Songs of Experience’, will be available to purchase on Amazon Music and stream for Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers.
Start Times for ‘The U2 Experience’:
UK: Wednesday, 29 November 23:00
US: Wednesday, 29 November 18:00 EST / 15:00 PST
Germany/Austria: Thursday, 30 November, 12:00am

Noel Gallagher forgives ex-Oasis members for joining Beady Eye

OHMYGOSSIP — Noel Gallagher has forgiven his former Oasis bandmates for joining his brother Liam’s old band Beady Eye on the “dark side”.
The Britpop band’s ex-guitarist and songwriter has taken almost a decade to let his pals off for choosing to join Liam in the ‘Face the Crowd’ group, which the ‘Wall of Glass’ singer formed after Oasis split in 2009, following a backstage bust-up at a festival performance in Paris, which ended with Liam swinging a guitar at his family member’s head.
However, it’s only because guitarist Gem Archer and drummer Chris Sharrock are now members of his High Flying Birds, and Noel insists the pair begged him to let them join him in his solo project as touring members.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: “Well, they came crawling back on their hands and knees.
“And they were saying, ‘Please forgive us for going to the dark side.’
“And I said, ‘You know what? I’m going to give you one f***king last change.'”
Gem joined the ‘Supersonic’ rockers in 1999 after original guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs’ quit, and is Noel’s touring group’s rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist.
Chris was only a part of Oasis for one year, as he started in 2008 after previous drummer Zak Starkey left the group, and has been in High Flying Birds since 2016.
Beady Eye, which came to end in 2014, also included Oasis’ ex-bassist Andy Bell and Liam’s now solo touring member Jay Mehler and Jeff Wootton, who in 2015 appeared in Noel’s music video for ‘Ballad of the Mighty I’.
Meanwhile, fans hoping to see all of the members back as one in the ‘Wonderwall’ group will be disappointed, as Noel recently admitted social media has scuppered the chances of an Oasis reunion.
The 50-year-old rocker recently said he will “never walk on stage” again Liam – who he has feuded with ever since the band broke up – because his wife Sara MacDonald and his children – 17-year-old daughter Anais, whom he has with ex-wife Meg Matthews, and sons Sonny, seven, and 10-year-old Donovan with Sara – are constantly subjected to “not very nice” comments about the band online.
He said recently: “My wife is on social media and my kids are on social media and people come after them on social media and it’s not very nice. It is ugly.
“My wife has shown me things that people have written about her and it’s disgraceful. My daughter has shown me things people have written about her in regards to Oasis. That’s disgraceful.
“It only heightens my resolve that I’ll never walk the stage with that band again. [used to not want to reform the band for] professional reasons, but now it’s personal.
“People are coming after my family, and one particular person [Liam] has legitimised it.
“And for that reason you’ve seen the last of Oasis.”

Brandon Flowers didn’t want to do solo albums

OHMYGOSSIP — Brandon Flowers wouldn’t have made his solo albums if his bandmates didn’t go on hiatus.
The Killers frontman insists that his two records, 2010’s ‘Flamingo’ and 2015’s ‘The Desired Effect’, were made simply because he had nothing else to do whilst Mark Stoermer and Dave Keuning went off on breaks between albums.
He confessed to the Daily Star newspaper: “It’s a little frustrating. I wouldn’t have made those solo records,
“I was doing it to give Mark and Dave a break.
“I wasn’t doing it for the vanity. I would prefer that I was talking about the eight Killers record.”
Dave, 41 – who has one child, 12-year-old son Kyler – announced he decided to step down from the ‘Run’ group’s recent shows in August to spend more time with his family, a decision fully supported by the rest of the band.
Brandon reassured fans at the time they will not be performing as a two-piece, himself and drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr., and that long-term touring members Jake Blanton and Ted Sablay had replaced Dave and bass player Mark, who quit in 2016, respectively.
In a statement on Twitter, they group said: “Despite conjecture, The Killers are the same four weirdos we’ve always been.
“And worry not, we will not be performing as a two piece. As our fans have seen, the live line-up has grown over the years. Both Ted and Jake have been in the mix for a very long time (since Sam’s Town and Battle Born). Hell, we even have 3 background singers now!
“As Dave announced to Q Magazine, he will be taking a break from touring to spend time with his family. We respect his decision, just as we respected Mark’s decision to go back to college. (sic)”
Mark decided to part ways with the band in order to focus on a degree in art history, but still records solo music.
Speaking about his decision to leave, he said previously: “I get joy out of making music with The Killers, but being on the road and in the studio was too much.”

Rita Ora wished she collaborated with Ed Sheeran ‘sooner’

OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Ora thinks she should have collaborated with Ed Sheeran “sooner”.
The 27-year-old artist teamed up with the 26-year-old singer and songwriter earlier this year to record ‘Your Song’, but the ‘Black Widow’ hitmaker felt it was inevitable the pair would work together because they have been friends for over 10 years, although Rita wished they had of joined forces earlier.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, she said: “No one really knows this, but I’ve known Ed since I was 16, and we stayed friends really. We met ages ago. It’s really great because we both really evolved in our own way, and no one really collided in our organic, authentic relationship. And so it was only a matter of time before we were going to work together.
“But we should have done it sooner.”
But the ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ actress is “very happy” the pair have finally created a single together.
She added: “I’m very happy that we got to really join our forces together.”
Rita has revealed the project was all arranged via email, and the track only took “two hours” to complete, which felt unusual for the star.
She explained: “It was all done through email and then we met in London. Did the song in two hours and it didn’t even feel like work. And, honestly, it just came out.
“And the streaming and the people online have been really supportive.”
The ‘Hot Right Now’ vocalist has praised the ‘Castle on the Hill’ hitmaker for his “funny” personality and for being down to earth.
Speaking about the red head, she said: “What I love about Ed, I think it’s just the fact that he’s so funny. He is proper funny and he’s like a normal person, is just a lad. He has a lot to say, and. And he’s really good with timing.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Stefflon Don, Jorja Smith and Mabel will battle it out to receive the BRITs 2018 Critics’ Choice Award.
The ‘Envy Us’ hitmaker – whose fans are called dons – came to prominence this year after collaborating with US pop star Demi Lovato and Jax Jones on ‘Instruction’ and the rapper said she was feeling “lit” about being shortlisted for the prestigious accolade previously handed to the likes of Ellie Goulding, James Bay and Adele.

She said: “It’s an honour to be recognised amongst such incredible emerging talent. 2017 was a very special year and there’s so much more to come from me in 2018!”

Marilyn Manson for Download 2018

OHMYGOSSIP — Marilyn Manson is set to take to the stage at Download Festival 2018.
The 48-year-old controversial rocker has been announced as one of the acts set to amaze crowds at the annual festival held in Donington Park in Leicestershire, England, over the weekend of June 8-10.
Marilyn’s addition to the line-up was made public on Tuesday (28.11.17), in an announcement which also included the likes of Bullet For My Valentine, Asking Alexandria, Parkway Drive, and Babymetal.
Also on the bill are bands including Black Veil Brides, The Hives, Rise Against, Mayday Parade, and Neck Deep.
The new additions will join the previously announced headliners, Avenged Sevenfold, Guns N’ Roses, and Ozzy Osbourne.
For Marilyn, the chance to perform at the rock music extravaganza comes after he recently released his critically acclaimed album ‘Heaven Upside Down’, and is keen to wow crowds with his renowned and energetic live show.
The ‘Beautiful People’ rocker will no doubt be hoping luck is on his side when he takes to the stage next year though, after he recently suffered a health scare when part of his staging fell on top of him during a performance at the Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City last month.
Marilyn – whose real name is Brian Warner – had to undergo surgery after being left with a broken fibula and minor bruising to his skull and ribs, and was also forced to axe a number of his shows following the incident, which left him annoyed.
He said previously: “[The prop] started to fall and I tried to push back and I didn’t get out the way in time. I’m not sure what I hit my head on, but it did fall onto my leg and break the fibula in two places. The pain was excruciating.
“It definitely could have crushed my skull and my ribs. I have some minor bruising in that area, but it took six guys to pull it off of me. It was like wrestling a giant iron monster.”

Anne-Marie’s album was ‘inspired by heartbreak’

OHMYGOSSIP — Anne-Marie’s new album was inspired by “a lot of heartbreak”.
The 26-year-old singer-songwriter has revealed how heartache helped her to pen her upcoming solo record, which is slated for release in 2018.
She explained: “When I’m happy and in a good mood, I just search for other things that maybe connect to me on another level.
“I talk to my friends and see how they’re feeling – see what’s going on in their lives. I search YouTube and look for speeches by activists. I’ve got a lot of songs on my album about what’s going on in the world, and how it is growing up as a female.”
The British star – who has previously collaborated with the likes of Clean Bandit and Sean Paul – also thinks that the sounds on her new album will come as a surprise to some of her fans.
Speaking to NME magazine, Anne-Marie shared: “I think some of the sounds will shock people, it depends what people might have heard before. There are some people that have heard my live set and they know what kind of person I am and what I want to talk about.
“I hope that every age range can really connect with it in some way. I hope there’s a song for every person because the goal really is to get everyone to like it, not just a specific age range of people or a gender, you know?”
Ed Sheeran makes a guest appearance on Anne-Marie’s new album, and she’s admitted to being inspired by his career success.
She said: “Every person I speak to is gobsmacked that it’s just one person and a guitar. It’s just him captivating the whole stadium, its just incredible to see.
“The thing is, he’s got great stage presence and he has great lyrics and that’s what people are connected to, so yeah I mean he doesn’t need anything.”

Noel Gallagher: Ed Sheeran is vastly overrated

OHMYGOSSIP — Noel Gallagher thinks Ed Sheeran has a “heart of gold” – but is “vastly overrated”.
The former Oasis star has been dishing out his opinions on some of the world’s biggest stars, and though the ‘Holy Mountain’ singer thinks the 26-year-old singer/songwriter is a nice person, he’s not as big a fan of his music.
The 50-year-old rocker also pointed out that the ‘Perfect’ hitmaker rakes it in when he’s on tours, because he doesn’t have any fancy productions costs as it’s simply him, his microphone and loop pedal on stage.
During website Pitchfork’s video series, ‘Over/Under’, Noel said of Ed: “The ginger fury, honestly. What are his f**king overheads? $200 a night? He’s got a guitar, a microphone, a f**king loop pedal and a tour manager. What does he want the big tour bus for?
“He’s a very nice guy, he’s got a heart of gold – he’s got a heart of ginger, actually, but I do think his music is vastly overrated.”
However, when it was the turn of Kanye West to be listed as overrated or underrated, Noel chose the latter.
He said: “I’d say he’s underrated. Without being a huge fan of his, I f**king love him. I guess there’s a bit of Kanye in all of us. You know what I mean?”
The ‘Some Might Say’ songwriter previously revealed that ‘Fort Knox’, the opening track on Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds album ‘Who Built The Moon?’, is influenced by Kanye’s track ‘Fade’.
The rocker had played his producer David Holmes the hip hop song – the final single from Kanye’s album ‘The Life of Pablo’ as an example of the type of music he’d been listening to.
Once the pair had completed psychedelic track ‘Fort Knox’ the pair considered sending it to Kanye but Noel ultimately decided to keep it for himself.
Noel made the revelation whilst speaking at a playback of his upcoming LP at Capitol Records studios in Los Angeles, saying: “I just realised it was too f***ing good, so I kept it.”
‘Fade’ features Kanye, Post Malone and Ty Dolla Sign and contains samples of several different songs including Chicago House classic ‘Mystery of Love’ by Mr. Fingers, ‘Deep Inside’ by Hardrive, ‘I Get Lifted’ by Barbara Tucker and ‘(I Know) I’m Losing You’ by Undisputed Truth.
