OHMYGOSSIP — Rizzle Kicks star Jordan Stephens is backing the NHS Blood and Transplant Date2Donate campaign.
The 25-year-old star – who is joined by Harley Alexander-Sule in the hip-hop duo – has helped create a series of videos sharing personal experiences of giving blood in order to encourage the nation to come together on a regular basis to make a difference through giving blood, in particular a new generation of donors.
On Monday (15.01.18), the first of a series of ‘Date2Donate’ clips, which will continue to be published throughout the year, went live, featuring TV and radio broadcaster, Yasmin Evans, Jordan and Remel London, Capital Xtra presenter and MOBO Awards Red Carpet host.
As part of the campaign ‘Mama Do The Hump’ hitmaker Jordan revealed that before he was famous, he worked in a fast food restaurant.
He said: “My last job was in a fast food kitchen at a greyhound stadium.
“My boss didn’t like me and I literally went up to him and went, ‘so I’m quitting’ and he went ‘why’ and I was like ‘I got a record deal’…I’ve never spoken to him since.”
Jordan says he’s thrilled to be able to potentially help keep someone alive by giving his blood, he said: “As much fun as I make out of it, it actually is good to contribute to saving lives.”
Over 900,000 people gave blood last year, but NHS Blood and Transplant need 200,000 new blood donors to ensure that patients in the future have access to the blood they need, when they need it.
Nadine Eaton from NHSBT said:”We are asking young people to make blood donation part of their regular routine, something that they have reoccurring in their diaries. Save a life by going about yours. Make a regular Date2Donate in 2018.”
“Less than a quarter (23.7%) of those who gave blood last year were younger than 30 years old, so we particularly hope these videos appeal to this age group. Giving blood only takes about an hour but can save three lives.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Halsey is still planning to see Arctic Monkeys at Firefly Music Festival in Delaware – despite bemoaning the lack of female performers.
The ‘Closer’ singer recently hit out at the fact American singer/songwriter SZA – whose real name Solána Imani Rowe – is the only woman listed to perform at the music extravaganza, which also sees the likes of Eminem and The Killers on the bill, so far.
However, she has asked her 8.35 million followers to “pretend” they have no idea who she is during Alex Turner and co’s set, so she can be an “embarrassing” mosher.
She wrote on Twitter: “I can’t wait to cancel all my plans to fly around the country to see Arctic Monkeys this year. If u see me in the pit pretend u don’t know me so I can be embarrassing without guilt pls. (sic)”
Halsey – who previously played the festival in 2015 – had fumed: “Damn guys come onnnnnn. Where the women at … This was one of my favourite festivals I’ve ever played and it’s a shame there’s not more females on the bill. With the exception of (the amazing) Sza, the first like 20 acts on the bill are men. It’s 2018, do better!!! (sic)”
One of the pop beauty’s followers suggested she should complain to the organisers of Firefly, and the 23-year-old star said that there are so many female artists killing it on the music scene, that they have no excuse.
When replying to a fan who has since deleted their tweet, Halsey replied: “Who am I supposed to ‘go off on’ haha. Festivals ASK artists to play. Artists don’t ASK festivals if they can come. I’m just raising a point! So many dope women in music right now! (sic)”
It seems there are issues across the board with diversity at music events, One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson recently hit out at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival for not including many bands in their line-up this year.
He wrote on Twitter: “Just seen the Coachella line up …. Where the f**k are all the bands !? It’s a festival !? (sic)”
A number of Louis’ fans agreed with him, with some suggesting 1D should be a part of the bill, and while he later insisted it was a “good line-up” for the genre, he was still frustrated about the lack of groups.
He added: “Good line up for that genre but defo not enough bands ! (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — will.i.am says hip-hop is the “new punk rock”.
The Black Eyed Peas star – who is known for his futuristic production – is certain that a band like The Clash, a group formed in London in 1976 as part of the original wave of British punk, are about to explode in rap form.
He told The Los Angeles Times newspaper: “Right now I look at hip-hop like punk rock – the Clash, Suicidal Tendencies,” will.i.am said. “Hip-hop is going through its own punk phase, and we’re going to have a new Clash come out of it.”
Black Eyed Peas recently returned with their first song without former singer Fergie.
The ‘My Humps’ hitmakers – also comprised of Apl.de.ap and Taboo – dropped political track ‘Street Livin’ which focuses on gun violence and other issues in the US, for their first single since 2016’s ‘#Wheresthelove’ remix “featuring The World”, a version of their hit song ‘Where is The Love?’.
Alongside a link to the music video, they wrote on Twitter: “We have the POWER to make change together.
Prison Industrial Complex. Immigration. Gun Violence. Police Brutality. These issues are critical for our families, friends, communities, and world. Stay Woke, Take Action Now. #BEPStreetLivin (sic)”
It comes after will previously said Fergie could rejoin the group in the future, if they decided to reunite in Virtual Reality (VR) form.
The producer and ‘The Voice UK’ coach said: “There are infinite possibilities for the world to create.
“We could create virtual Black Eyed Peas.
“You could go back to when we started the group in 1998 and experience that story, you could go back to when we first got signed in 1997 when we first got signed to Interscope.
“What we were thinking in 2003 when we put Fergie in the group, there’s so much you can do.”
It’s not yet known if ‘Street Livin’ is a one-off single or whether the band are in the studio preparing a follow-up to 2010’s ‘The Beginning’ LP.

The ‘All Goes Wrong’ hitmakers – who formed in 2003 – can’t wait to celebrate their milestone year by headlining the main stage at the music extravaganza on Sunday, August 26.
The drum and bass production house – comprised of Saul Milton and Will Kennard – said: “2018 represents 15 years of Chase and Status and we couldn’t think of a better place than our home town London and the legendary South West Four Festival to celebrate. This will be one of only a few live shows we are performing this year and will be one of our best yet!!!”
During their career, the pair have collaborated with the likes of Plan B, Cee Lo Green, Rihanna, Example and Tinie Tempah, released four studio albums and won countless awards, including Q magazine’s Best Video in 2010 for ‘End Credits’ with Plan B.
Joining Chase and Status on the Sunday are comeback king Craig David and TS5, house legend Andy C, rising rapper Stefflon Don, Disciples and many more.
Saturday, August 25, sees a diverse line-up featuring anonymous DJ Marshmello, with his UK festival exclusive Melloville, grime king Dizzee Rascal, ‘Perfect Strangers’ hitmaker Jonas Blue, Nadia Rose, Sigma.

OHMYGOSSIP — 30 Seconds to Mars have teased fans that their new album is on the way and they have a new single dropping “soon”.
Jared Leto and co have been hard at work preparing their follow-up to 2013’s ‘Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams’, and over the weekend the ‘Suicide Squad’ actor revealed their next song is just around the corner.
Jared shared a photograph of his bandmates in their spacious studio on his Instagram Story, with the caption: “The longer you work on a song the longer it takes to finish
“New album coming sooooooon! (sic)”
The 46-year-old rocker also posted two black and white photos of himself, and wrote: “Swipe to the see the frontal having a good Saturday? Almost done with the next single (sic)”
The US band’s last release was the single ‘Walk On Water’.
Jared previously revealed the record will be “surprising” as it is very futuristic.
He said: “The album is, I think, going to be very surprising to people. There’s quite a lot of different musical styles on the album, it’s a very modern album and a break from the past
– we are incredibly excited about it. It has a lot of energy and we’ve spent years working on it, exploring new ideas.”
And the model admits that they have “shattered expectations” by breaking a few rules.
Speaking about the process, he said: “It’s sometimes hard to talk about it when you are still doing it because you don’t have perspective and you need to look back on something like that, because as you are climbing mountains, you are so focused on securing a foothold or not falling off that it’s sometimes hard to speak eloquently about it.
On breaking away from their traditional sound, he added: “The new album is very different, we break a lot of rules – maybe that we didn’t have for us – but we shattered some expectations that other people may have had.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Little Mix are hard at work on their fifth album.
Britain’s hottest girl group – Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall – are fully focused on producing another hit record, according to pop star Raye, who has been penning tracks for the girls’ follow-up to 2016’s ‘Glory Days’.
The ‘Power’ hitmakers, who are up for British Single and Best Video for ‘Touch’ at the BRIT Awards, won’t let the fact they are not nominated for Best Group stop them in their tracks.
Speaking about their next studio effort and the lack of female-on-female collaborations, ‘Bet U Wish’ singer Raye told the Daily Star newspaper: “The Little Mix album, I’ve been writing for that.
“For every 10 guys there’s one girl, everywhere you go.
“It’s very overwhelming and I think it’s really important that girls have started to support each other more, all becoming friends like a little community.
“It’s so important. I think we need more female collaborations because it isn’t enough.
“It’s so frustrating that you get a female track with a male feature, why can’t it just be female and female?”
The girls jumped onto social media after hearing the news and urged their fans – known as Mixers – to get voting.
Reacting to their video nod on Twitter, the girls said: “This is insane! We’re only up for ‘British Video’ at the @Brits this year with #TOUCH!! This is incredible and we have you guys to thank You can vote ONCE every 24 hours by tweeting #BRITVIDLITTLEMIX….vote opens RIGHT NOW! Let’s get it! xx the girls xx (sic)”
Expressing their gratitude on the single nomination, they added: “So unreal!! OHMYGOSSIP — Paloma Faith isn’t impressed by the lack of female artists performing at the BRITs.
The ‘Crybaby’ singer will battle it out with Kate Tempest, Jessie Ware, Laura Marling and Dua Lipa to be crowned Best Female Solo Artist – a prize she previously won in 2015 – at the Mastercard-sponsored ceremony at London’s The O2 arena on February 21, but she thinks there should be much more women on the bill.
She said: “They keep telling us women are having a great year, but it looks like all men performing at the BRITS accept for one woman.”
The 36-year-old star – who recently welcomed her first child into the world with partner Leyman Lahcine – doesn’t think she will be victorious because her record, ‘The Architect’, which was released on November 17, hasn’t been out as long as her category contenders.
Paloma said previously: “I don’t think I will win because the album has only been released eight weeks. I don’t think it’s really my time.”
So far ‘IDGAF’ singer Dua is the only female confirmed to perform.
The ‘New Rules’ singer will be outnumbered by Rag’n’ Bone Man – last year’s Critics’ Choice winner – Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Stormzy and Foo Fighters who are also performing.
British comedian Jack Whitehall is set to host the event.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sam Smith has reassured fans that he’s still performing at the BRITs – despite not receiving a single nomination.
The ‘Too Good At Goodbyes’ hitmaker’s loyal following were left disappointed after the pop star’s biggest selling record, ‘The Thrill Of It All’ – which in its first week of release shifted 97,328 copies – failed to attract the voting panel for the annual ceremony, but he’s sent gratitude to those who made the shortlist.
The 25-year-old singer – who previously won three prizes at the awards show – will still attend and perform at the prestigious event held at London’s The O2 arena on February 21.
He wrote on Twitter: “Congratulations to all the Brit Nominees!! Can’t wait to perform on the night xx not long now xx (sic)”
Dua Lipa leads the BRITs nominations with five, while Ed Sheeran follows with nods in four categories.
Another artist who will likely be miffed not to receive a nod is former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher, whose brother and bitter rival Liam is up for British Male Solo Artist.
The 50-year-old rocker – who has been embroiled in a feud with his younger sibling since their band Oasis split in 2009 – released his third studio album ‘Who Built The Moon?’ in 2017, but was noticeably absent from all categories.
And it didn’t take long for Liam, 45, to chastise his sibling on Twitter, as he expressed his disappointment at not being able to “hurl abuse” at the ‘Holy Mountain’ hitmaker at the star-studded bash.
He wrote: “So the creepy 1 gets blanked at the Brits oh well was looking forward to hurling abuse at him and his poshos from across the room LG x (sic)”
Some fans were quick to slam the ‘Wall of Glass’ singer – who found success with his debut solo album ‘As You Were’ last year – for “bragging” about his nomination, but the star insisted he has already set himself up for disappointment, as he doesn’t think he’ll take home the gong.
He added in a second tweet: “Bragging not really i know I’m not gonna win just pointing out to the gobsh**e who said nobody gives a f***k what liam gallagher thinks LG x (sic)”
Liam faces tough competition from the likes of Ed Sheeran, Rag’n’Bone Man, Stormzy, and Loyle Carner.

OHMYGOSSIP — Disclosure are putting their Wild Life festival on hiatus this year while they work on their new record.
The electronic music duo have confirmed plans to embark on their third studio album and as a result they will not be putting on the music spectacle at Shoreham Airport, west Sussex, south east England, but plan to bring the event back in 2019.
They wrote on Facebook: “We embarked on a new journey three years ago by launching WILD LIFE Festival at Shoreham Airport with our close friends, Rudimental. We’d not long finished touring our asses off of debut album, Settle and that inaugural year of the festival in 2015 allowed us to embark on our next chapter with the release of second album, Caracal.
“Being able to curate your own festival with your mates and invite legends like NAS, Ice Cube and Chaka Khan to play alongside amazing new talent such as Stormzy, Kaytranada and AJ Tracey, stack them up against a host of flawless DJ’s like Annie Mac, Jackmaster and ARMAND VAN HELDEN and throw parties with elrow is literally a dream come true.
“However, with a busy recording schedule ahead as we embark on album number 3 we’re going to give the green grass of Shoreham Airport a break throughout 2018 and come back bigger and better in 2019. (sic)”
The brothers, Guy and Howard Lawrence, thanked fans who have attended the festival, admitting it has given them some of the “best times” as Disclosure.
They added: “Thanks to everyone who attended the festival these last three years and gave us some of the best times we’ve ever had as Disclosure, we’re hugely thankful for the opportunity to share that with you, see you all soon. (sic)”
Like Disclosure, Rudimental are also taking time off from the music spectacle to complete their third studio album.
In a series of messages, they wrote on Twitter: “3 years ago we started @WILD_LIFE_FEST in Brighton with our good friends @disclosure .
“It was a dream come true to curate our own festival and book some of our favourite artist’s and DJ’S that we grew up listening to as well as some of the best up and coming talent in the world.
“Artists like @BustaRhymes, @WuTangClan & @WeAreDeLaSoul inspired us growing up and helped mould the @Rudimental sound.
“However in 2018 we are heads down in the studio finishing our 3rd album so we have taken the decision to take a year out.
“.@WILD_LIFE_FEST will be coming back bigger and stronger in 2019 either to the same site at Brighton Airport or quite possibly a new chapter in a new location.
“Thanks to the 150,000 + fans and artists that joined us in an amazing 3 years in Brighton. Rudimental x (sic)”
Last year’s Wild Life festival featured performances from the likes of Fatboy Slim, Stormzy, Dizzee Rascal and Rag ‘n’ Bone Man.

OHMYGOSSIP — Eric Clapton would have been a bricklayer if he didn’t become a rock legend.
The ‘Tears in Heaven’ hitmaker got the chance to try his hand at the labouring job when he worked briefly with his grandfather as a youngster, and says his work ethic and “master” craftsmanship rubbed off on him.
Asked by Jools Holland at the UK premiere of his new movie ‘Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bar Blues’ what he’d have done instead of music – he said: “Bricklayer or plasterer. For a little while I worked for my grandfather. And he was very strict and very noble.
“He never took a raise. He worked for the same amount of money all his life.
“And he was a master craftsman. And that was very important for me to observe.
“That I could take that ethic anywhere.
“He worked me very hard. So, I always thought, Well, if music doesn’t work … ‘Cause I had the time of my life on that building site.”
The 72-year-old music legend teamed up with filmmaker and long-time friend Lili Fini Zanuck for new movie ‘Eric Clapton: Life In 12 Bar Blues’, which documents the rocker’s spiralling addiction to drugs and alcohol, finding out the woman he believed was his mother was actually his sister, being rejected by his real parent, and the tragic loss of his four-year-old son Connor, who fell to his death after falling out of a window in a New York City apartment.
A continuous theme to the ‘Layla’ hitmaker’s personality, which director Zanuck chose to pinpoint, was how Clapton would just start getting onto a good thing with each of his groups, including The Yardbirds, Cream and Derek And The Dominos, and then he’d move on to the next thing.
The ‘Layla’ songwriter – who has a net worth of around $250 million – also admitted to never being concerned with how much he’d earned or spent over the years, despite the movie showing a young Clapton making his first ever purchase, his impressive Hurtwood Edge mansion in Surrey, England.
He explained: “About the time [Derek And] The Dominos broke up [1971]. That thing of calling my band The Dominos was me trying to back out of everything. I still don’t know how much money I’ve got or how much I’ve spent. I deliberately avoid knowing, because I’m a working class boy. It seemed like my life, from the minute I started to listen to blues music … it was all about obscurity and mythology. I sabotaged everything I got involved with that started to look like it was going to be a success.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Hudson thinks living in Chicago keeps her grounded.
The ‘Voice’ coach – who has son David Jr., seven, with former fiancé David Otunga – believes it is important to keep her personal and professional lives separate but doesn’t think living in Los Angeles would allow her the “breathing room” to do that.
She told Britain’s Cosmopolitan magazine: “I can go incognito [in Chicago].
“I’m a thinker and sometimes in this business celebrities tend to lose it. A lot of that is down to putting all your eggs in one basket.
“So, if you live in LA, your whole life is there – your personal life and your work. Where is your breathing room? I like to separate the two.
“Going home to Chicago keeps me grounded, sane and balanced. LA is a bubble. There is another world outside that, so it’s intentional.”
The 36-year-old singer has a strong work ethic and thinks it’s just as important to understand the business side of her profession as it is to perform.
She said: “All I do is my job. I am a businesswoman.
“In this industry you need to have just as much business sense as talent to be able to exist. Not everyone gets that.
“Fortunately I do. I’m so grateful for that, along with having the talent to be able to do it…
“I don’t care if I sing for the pope or the local church, everything is just as precious.
“When I’m having my hair and make-up done for a job, people joke, ‘She’as really studying her stuff – who does that?’
“But it’s the nature of this business. Your work speaks for you and your next thing comes from your last thing.”
And having found success as both a singer and an actress, the ‘Dreamgirls’ star doesn’t take anything for granted.
She said: “It’s rare to be able to have a music or acting career, never mind both.
“So, I don’t take them lightly.
“Music is involved in everything I do.
“Even if I’m playing a character who has nothing to do with music, all of a sudden the character sings.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Celine Dion is “truly sorry” for cancelling three Las Vegas shows this week.
The ‘Think Twice’ hitmaker was upset at the thought of disappointing her fans when she had to axe her residency gig on Saturday (13.01.18) on medical advice, following previous cancellations on January 6 and 9.
The 49-year-old singer has been suffering from “throat irritation” due to a cold and though she had thought she was well enough to return to the stage on Friday (13.01.18), she found the performance a struggle.
She shared on social media: “I don’t know what to say, other than I’m truly sorry for having to cancel tonight’s show and the two shows from last week.
“Cancelling a show is the hardest thing I have to do, especially when I know that so many people have travelled far to see me in Las Vegas. This decision is not made lightly.
“When I’m not well, I always try to push through and I do everything I can to do my show. I really struggled to finish last night’s show and it took everything out of me.”
“I know that I’m disappointing you, the people who support me the most and it hurts me beyond words. I hope that you can forgive me.”
Celine’s cancellations came following a bizarre incident at one of her Caesars Palace shows earlier this month when she invited a female fan on stage during her performance, only for the supporter to wrap her leg around the star and start humping her.
Celine said afterwards: “Let me tell you something. I’m glad you came up onstage tonight.
“I’m glad that … I thought you just wanted to come closer to me. But you know what, I’m glad you came closer to me.”
She then started singing: “I love you, you love me.”
Security rushed to Celine’s aid but she asked them to stop and told the woman it was “OK” and that the guards were her “friends”.

OHMYGOSSIP — Rag ‘N’ Bone Man is set to perform at this year’s BRIT Awards.
The ‘Human’ hitmaker – who picked up the Critics’ Choice and British Breakthrough gong at last year’s ceremony – has been asked to hit the stage at the music extravaganza, held at The O2 Arena on February 21, for a killer performance.
Taking to his Twitter account on Saturday (13.01.18), he said: “Jheez! 2017 has flown by super quick. Its pretty mental to think that I bagged 2 awards at the @Brits last year and now I’m heading back to perform #brits (sic)”
The 32-year-old singer – whose real name is Rory Charles Graham – will join the likes of Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Stormzy and Foo Fighters who are also performing.
The ‘Skin’ hitmaker has had an exceptional 12 months as his debut album ‘Human’ went straight to No.1 upon release – achieving the fastest selling UK male debut of the decade – and has so far spent over 47 weeks in the UK charts.
BRITs Chairman & CEO and Chairman of Sony Music UK & Ireland Jason Iley said: “Rory epitomises how dreams can come true. He has had the most amazing 12 months and I’m so delighted to see him back where it all started.”
The Mastercard-sponsored ceremony will see British comedian Jack Whitehall host.

OHMYGOSSIP — Sting is working on a reggae album with Shaggy.
The British singer-songwriter has admitted on his website that he and the Jamaican-American rapper got together last year “to jam and create music that reflects their mutual love of Jamaica, its music, people and culture” and, as a result of their time in the studio, they’ve come up with some “Caribbean-flavoured songs.”
The pair’s first single ‘Don’t Make Me Wait’ is set for release on February 2 and, although fans may find it hard to envision their voices together, Sting – whose real name is Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner – is adamant they have “a lot in common.”
Speaking to the New York Post newspaper Page Six column, he said: “We have a lot in common. We’re both married to very strong women. We both come from small islands that used to belong to the queen. And we like each other. We like each other’s voices and music and vibe. We’re like kindred spirits.”
The duo debuted their new single in Jamaica last week at a Shaggy and Friends charity concert raising money for Bustamante Hospital for Children.
Meanwhile, the ‘Shape of My Heart’ hitmaker – who found fame with The Police in the 70s – still has so much work he wants to do before he dies.
He said: “There’s a child in all of us that looks at cultural icons and goes, ‘How could they die?’ Because we’ve invested this sort of godlike immortality to them. 50,000 is from the point of view of someone who’s been there watching his friends die and facing his mortality.
“Mortality is something that once accepted, it’s not morbid. If anything, it makes your life richer – at least, that’s the philosophy I’m developing as I speak to you. I’m not ready to die at all; I’ve still got work to do. But an acceptance of it for all of us is a useful thing, because that’s the reality.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Paramore are “still pinching themselves” that they are together.
The ‘Misery Business’ hitmakers may only be a trio now – Hayley Williams, Taylor York and Zac Farro – but they are more content in each other’s company than ever before, and consider themselves friends before bandmates.
Speaking about thoughts the band had about breaking up in the past to MusicFeeds, frontwoman Hayley admitted: “Well, we’re definitely breaking up (laughs). No, we’re good.
“We actually talk about it pretty often. I think we’re still pinching ourselves and it’s nice to be healthy and around friends.
“I think that’s just something we’ve been learning in the past 15 years being around each other, like the difference in being really, really honest and supporting each other and where we’re at and also helping pick each other up.
“You have to learn the balance of faith and support and we’re just really fortunate that we love being around each other.
I actually think we love being around each other more than we love playing music together right now, which is a first in a long time. But the cool thing is you get to do all of it at one time. So yeah, we’re thankful.”
Hayley previously admitted she wanted to disband Paramore – who released new album ‘After Laughter’ last year – two years ago.
The 28-year-old singer said the public criticisms and accusations of being controlling she faced on the departures of guitarist Josh Farro, her ex-boyfriend, and his brother, drummer Zac – who has since rejoined – in 2010 and bassist Jeremy Davis leaving in 2015, and launching a lawsuit against her and guitarist Taylor left her feeling drained and seeking a fresh start.
She admitted: “Two years ago I asked Taylor if we could start a new band. I was so sick of this c**p. I said we should just try something new, give it a new name.”
Taylor added: “I’ve wanted to quit this band so many times. Going through all this conflict and drama over the years … I was just like, ‘Man, I feel like we can keep going, but this is not worth it if we don’t want to be here.’ ”
And the pair are unsure as to why they have continued.
Hayley said: “Honestly, I don’t know. We, for some reason, kept showing up and kept writing and, little by little, the songs got better and we got a little more inspired to do it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Marcel Somerville has quit Blazin’ Squad.
The 32-year-old singer has decided to “take a break” from the ‘Crossroads’ hitmakers while he enjoys other work, but he’s adamant he’ll never leave the band for good.
Speaking to The Sun Online, he said: No, you can never leave the Blazin’ Squad.
“I’m just taking a sabbatical as I’m so busy with other work at the moment, so the other boys are doing the shows. I will be on stage with the boys at some point once my time has been freed up a bit.”
However, his decision to step away from the group for now shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise as he said over the summer last year that he wanted to make the most of the opportunities fired his way after he took part in Britain’s ‘Love Island’.
He said: “I haven’t agreed to anything yet but I probably will turn up. A few of the boys came to the airport when we arrived back from Majorca.
“They were like, ‘Marce, there’s so much stuff on the table man’. I was like, ‘Alright – let me see this stuff first and we will go from there.’ ”
The rapper – who was known as Rocky B Plat’num during the band’s heyday – was just 16 when he shot into the limelight with the group and he wanted to reform with them after the dating show because it was something the fans were asking for.
He explained: “I wanted to do something with the boys, because I came out of ‘Love Island’ and there was loads of love and a lot of the fans were supporting me in there.
“I wanted to do something for them.”
And Marcel believes one reason he never went off the rails when he shot into the limelight is because the band were surrounded by a good team.
