OHMYGOSSIP — Brian Wilson has finally had his high school music grade changed from an F to a more deserving A.
The Beach Boys icon has delighted fans with timeless classics like ‘Good Vibrations’, ‘Sloop John B’ and ‘California Girls’, but his teacher Fred Morgan wasn’t quite as impressed with a composition that would go on to be the band’s first single ‘Surfin”.
Brian flunked the class at Hawthorne High School, California, where he attended alongside brothers – and bandmates – Carl and Dennis Wilson, and Al Jardine.
Now, the current principal of the school Dr. Vanessa Landesfeind has amended his grade, and invited the legendary star to the campus to make the change official.
A picture was shared on Brian’s Twitter profile of the pair together and the musician holding his new certificate, with the post revealing: “Brian’s failing grade has now been changed to an A on this assignment by Dr. Landesfeind!”
The song was released as the Beach Boys’ debut US single in 1961 – and included on their first album ‘Surfin’ Safari’ the following year – and charted at 75.
Years after giving the early working of the song such a low grade, teacher Morgan admitted record sales could have proven him wrong.
According to Brian’s Twitter account, the educator later said: “Brian wrote a composition for me and it turned out to be ‘Surfin”. That composition got an F, but it made a million dollars.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Timberlake says his new album will have a “modern Americana” sound.
The 36-year-old singer-songwriter has given his fans an insight into his much-anticipated album ‘Man of the Woods’ via his Instagram account, revealing it will feature a number of tracks that have a “country melody”.
In a video clip, Justin tells the camera: “I think the album has a wide range of sonics to it. But I guess I would describe it as modern Americana with 808s.”
Justin hasn’t released an album since 2013’s ‘The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2’, and he’s recently been busily making movies, including the Woody Allen-directed ‘Wonder Wheel’ in 2017.
Prior to establishing himself as a credible actor, fans questioned whether Justin would be able to make the transition from music star into the movie business.
But Justin previously explained that he faced a similar challenge when he left NSYNC to become a solo performer.
Justin shared: “I faced the same feelings when I went solo.
“I had the same obstacles in music. I still do. But I feel like I should pose the question to everyone else: If you had this opportunity, what would you do with it?
“Entertaining is in my blood. I make no bones about the fact that I have always wanted to work in the forum of film.”
Despite this, Justin insisted his ambition was to become an “actor” rather than a “movie star”.
He explained: “I don’t know what a pop ‘career’ is. I just wanted to be in music.
“I don’t necessarily crave to be a movie star. I just want to be an actor. I don’t look at it as a career – I just feel lucky. That’s not to say I’m going to take every opportunity that comes up. But now I have more chance to plot out a path.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Andrew W.K. has offered to pay a fan’s speeding fine after he was caught driving too fast whilst listening to the rocker’s new song.
The ‘Party Hard’ hitmaker responded to a tweet by Luke Mitchell who said it was “worth” being slapped with ticket for £100 for exceeding the speed limit by Thames Valley Police, because he was rocking away to ‘Music is Worth Living For’.
Luke wrote on Twitter: “Casually driving down the M4 and @AndrewWK new single comes on @DanielPCarter @Radio1RockShow and now I have a speeding ticket. Totally worth it. (sic)”
Replying immediately, the 38-year-old musician wrote back: “the price of partying (sic)”
He then added: “LUKE – would like to pay this speeding ticket for you. I was responsible for the sonic party power that caused you to speed.
“I’ll Direct Message you now to get your information. Please let me do this for you (sic)”
However, Luke said he would much prefer the money to go towards a better cause, and after MyTicket reached out to offer him two tickets to his forthcoming concert at Portsmouth’s Wedgewood rooms in South England, he revealed Andrew had already put him on the guest list because his music contributed to the fine.
He added: “Thank you so much, but I’ve asked @AndrewWK to donate the money to a far more worth cause than myself.
“In return he has offered me the chance to see him at @WedgewoodRooms already (sic)”
Thames Valley Police also got involved, and advised the rockers to “party hard” safely in future.
They said: “You may ‘Want fun’ and to ‘Party hard’ but we want you to be safe. Drive safely dudes and party on (responsibly) (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — U2’s Bono has always supported Robbie Williams because they’ve both needed to keep their egos under control.
The Irish rocker and the ‘Let Me Entertain You’ hitmaker have kept a close eye on one another over the years as they’ve both battled with depression and addiction, in order to not let their self-admiration get the better of them.
When the ‘Get Out of Your Own Way’ singer’s bandmate The Edge said: “He used to take care of Robbie Williams so he didn’t do anything stupid”, Bono agreed: “I am Robbie Williams.”
Speaking about the lyric, ‘I lie for a living’ on U2’s song ‘The Showman’ from their latest record ‘Songs of Experience’, which is about how showmen can disguise feelings through humour, the group’s frontman said: “When you watch U2 shows in the 80s and especially in the 90s there was always a lot of humour.
“I think it is important to show the other side as well.
“But just because ‘The Showman’ is humorous does not mean it’s less meaningful.
“I’m talking about performers and how to be aware of them; they can pretend to do anything – cry, laugh, even have an orgasm.”
Asked if playing to Stadium-sized crowds – which they will tour on the ‘eXPERIENCE & iNNOCENCE Tour’ later this year – engages his ego, Bono told the Daily Star newspaper: “You would expect it to if you are standing in front of 70,000 people every night.
“But the exact opposite is the case.”
Guitarist The Edge – whose real name is David Evans – agreed: “The ego implodes.”
And Bono added: “My ego is smaller a the end of a U2 tour than at the beginning.”
On/off Take That star Robbie previously revealed at the height of his drug addiction, he took magic mushrooms at Bono’s house, and was so high he thought a window was “the best painting” he’d ever seen.
He recalled: “I remember a great psychedelic time – by psychedelic I mean mushrooms.
“I arrived at Bono’s house, let’s say I was already elsewhere.
“I was looking at the best painting in the world I had ever seen.
“My mouth dropped to the floor, thinking ‘Wow, Bono has the best painting I have ever seen…’
“Then Bono appeared. I told him, ‘Hey, you got the best painting I have ever seen, and Bono said: ‘Robbie, You’re looking at the window.'”

OHMYGOSSIP — Eminem and Thirty Seconds to Mars will headline intimate shows ahead of the Grammy Awards later this month.
The ‘Untouchable’ hitmaker will perform at New York’s Irving Plaza on January 26 during Grammy Week, while the Jared Leto-fronted band will kick off the Live Nation-supported Citi Sound Vault shows at the venue on January 24.
The National will headline a gig on January 25, with Childish Gambino (January 27) and Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds completing the line-up by taking to the stage at the 1,025 capacity venue on January 28.
The series will also hold The Roots Jam Sessions at the Gramercy Theater in New York from January 24-27.
The gigs are a tradition in Grammy week and see the band take to the stage with a series of guests.
Grammy Week is held between January 24 and 28 leading up to the star-studded ceremony at Madison Square Garden on January 28.
The ceremony will return to the Big Apple for the first time since 2003 after spending more than a decade in Los Angeles.
Jay-Z received a total of eight Grammy nods ahead of this year’s spectacle, meaning he has tied with Stevie Wonder as the third most-nominated artist in the ceremony’s history with a total of 74.
Kendrick Lamar and Bruno Mars are up for seven and six nominations respectively.
Jay, Kendrick and Bruno will go up against one another for the Album of the Year prize, but face competition from Childish Gambino and Lorde.
What’s more, the trio also have a nod in the Record of the Year category and will do battle with Childish and Luis Fonsi.

OHMYGOSSIP — Camila Cabello has admitted she’s desperate to work with The 1975.
The 20-year-old singer released her debut solo album ‘Camila’ on Friday (12.01.18) after having left Fifth Harmony in 2016, and she’s already thinking about what music she’d like to create next, as she admits she’d love to get into the studio with the ‘Chocolate’ rockers.
Speaking to Zane Lowe during an interview for Beats 1 Radio, she said: “Oh my god, I want to work with them so bad. I’m on a 1975 rollercoaster right now. I can’t stop listening to them. I wanna work with them so badly. I was listening to them in the car the other day and I was like, I just want to DM Matt Healy and be like ‘Hey, can we work together?'”
And a collaboration might not be completely off the cards, as the ‘Havana’ hitmaker can recall meeting frontman Matt Healy at previous concerts.
She added: “I think I’ve met him before because I’ve been to two 1975 concerts because I was obsessed with them. Yeah, I’m 100 percent down because I love them so much.”
During the interview, Zane even got his phone out to send a message to the ‘Somebody Else’ hitmaker, informing him of Camila’s collaboration dream.
He said: “I’m texting him right now.”
To which an excited Camila replied: “Oh my god, text him! Let’s make it happen.”
Elsewhere in the chat, Camila revealed she was determined to make sure her album featured a range of different songs, as she doesn’t want to become predictable.
She said: “I never want to do what people expect me to do. I feel like it’s uninteresting if I just came out with ‘Havana’ part two and part three and my album was just a bunch of different versions of ‘Havana.'”

OHMYGOSSIP — Editors’ new album explores “the need for human connection”.
The English rock band – comprised of frontman Tom Smith, Russell Leetch, Ed Lay, Justin Lockey, and Elliott Williams – are set to release their sixth studio album ‘Violence’ on March 9, and have said the songs on the record delve into themes of “intimacy”.
Tom Smith said: “There’s a thread on a lot of these songs – the need for human connection or coming together as people; an intimacy, with a loved one or a friend, as an escape from the outside world.”
The ‘Papillon’ hitmakers worked with electronic musician Blanck Mass for their record, and Tom believes they’ve managed to find the right balance between “melody and brutality”.
Speaking to Jo Whiley on UK radio station BBC Radio 2, he said: “We had a lot of help from a guy called Blanck Mass, who makes very brutal electronic music. So when it’s electronic, it’s very electronic. But then when it’s guitar-y, it’s very band driven. I think we’ve managed to find the balance of those two things better than we have done before.
“Over the years, we’ve gone from backwards between more band-orientated sounding records and more electronic records. I think there’s a balance here between melody and brutality that I don’t think we’ve managed to get before.”
On Monday (15.01.18) the group released ‘Magazine’, the lead single from the album, and premiered its video on Tuesday (16.01.18).
According to NME.com, who premiered the video, the band have described the song as “a pointed finger aimed at those in power … some corrupt politician or businessman … a character, and a tongue in cheek poke at the empty posturing and playing to the masses of the power hungry.”
‘Violence’ is set to hit shelves on March 9, and comes as Editors’ first record since 2015’s ‘Dream’.

OHMYGOSSIP — U2 are set to perform in nine different countries in Europe as part of their upcoming ‘ U2 eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE Tour’.
The Irish rockers’ extensive run is due to kick off in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 2, but the European leg will being in Berlin, Germany on August 31, and will see them perform in Cologne, Paris, madrid, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Amsterdam and Milan, before coming to the UK on October 19 for their Manchester Arena gig and London’s The O2 on October 23.
According to a press release by promoters Live Nation, Bono and co are currently plotting homecoming concerts in Dublin and Belfast,”details of which will be announced as soon as they are finalised”.
Last year, the ‘With or Without’ you hitmakers completed their ‘Joshua Tree Tour – in support of the seminal 1987 album of the same name – which hit stadiums around the world in support of their album ‘Songs of Experience’, the follow-up to 2015’s ‘Songs of Innocence’.
This time Bono and his bandmates – The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. – will be heading back indoors playing the biggest arenas.
Noel Gallagher had the chance of supporting U2 on their tour in 2017, but the opening acts are for this run are yet to be revealed.
The legendary band played Berlin just last year, and frontman Bono and guitarist The Edge surprised commuters with an impromptu set on the city’s U2 subway line.
The pair treated 120 lucky competition winners – who applied for tickets through local radio station Radioeins – to the treat of a life time as they boarded an underground train at Deutsche Oper in December, to perform acoustically for 15 minutes.
The set included ‘One’ and new track ‘Get Out of Your Own Way’ from their latest record, ‘Songs of Experience’.
The city no doubt holds special memories for the band as they recorded ‘Achtung Baby’ at Hansa Studios, which is located near to the Berlin Wall, there in 1990.
Tickets for the ‘U2 eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE European Tour’ will go on sale beginning January 26, and there will be a public ticket limit of 4 tickets per person.
U2.com subscribers will have the first opportunity to purchase tickets beginning Thursday (18.01.18) at 10.00am and running through Saturday (20.01.18) at 5.00pm.

OHMYGOSSIP — Migos have announced their new album ‘Culture II’ will be released next week.
The hip hop trio – comprised of Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff – have revealed their third studio album, the follow up to 2017’s ‘Culture’, will be released on January 26, after months of anticipation from their devoted fans.
The group made the announcement on their Twitter page late on Monday (15.01.18), when the shared a picture of the cover art for the album, which featured the words “January 26th 2018” at the bottom.
A simple caption accompanied the picture, which read: “C U L T U R E I I (sic)”
The rap trio – who released their debut album ‘Yung Rich Nation’ in 2015 – have already whet the appetites of their fans with early singles ‘MotorSport’, featuring Nicki Minaj and Offset’s fiancée Cardi B, and ‘Stir Fry’, and there’s not long to wait before the rest of the album is available.
Despite only releasing their ‘Culture’ album last year, the ‘Bad and Boujee’ hitmakers haven’t slowed down, as on top of curating their third studio album, they’ve also been working with a host of other talent.
Also in 2017, Quavo teamed up with One Direction star Liam Payne to record his debut solo single ‘Strip That Down’.
A source previously said of their collaboration: “Working with Migos is a big deal.
“They are one of the most highly regarded hip-hop groups in the world.
“The collaboration will help push his name out beyond 1D fans in the States.
“Liam wants his solo music to sound like a mix between Justin Bieber and Drake
“It’s definitely not going to be a hip-hop album. He has worked with so many different producers and artists.
“But what’s for sure is that his songs will sound very, very different to what Harry Styles has put out.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Kylie Minogue will make her comeback on Friday (19.01.18) with new song ‘Dancing’.
The Australian pop beauty has unveiled the lead single from her first album in over two years, ‘Golden’, which is slated for release in spring.
The 49-year-old star has completely switched up her sound for the new track, which she found “challenging”, but she hopes her fans will be happy to see she has still “stayed true” to her signature style.
Alongside a clip talking about the track posted on her Instagram Kylie wrote: “Lovers, the countdown begins … ‘Dancing’, the first single from my new album ‘Golden’ is released this Friday. When I go out, I wanna go out dancing!” (sic)”
In the video, she says: “I promised my fans that I would be putting my heart and soul into this record.
“I’ve stayed true to my word, I was able to do that.
“It’s been challenging and fun and rewarding and it has ended up with a different direction for sure, but essentially I would still say it’s still very much a Kylie record.”
Kylie split with her fiancé Joshua Sasse in February last year, and said previously that getting herself into the recording studio to start work on her 14th studio album was the “perfect” way to help her deal with her heartbreak.
She said: “It was cathartic. It was good. In the studio it’s a slightly weird concept to be spending seven, eight, nine hours in a room with people sometimes you don’t know. If you’re working with good people it’s the perfect place to deal with stuff.”
And the ‘Spinning Around’ hitmaker revealed there will be “a little bit of heartbreak” featured on the record, but insisted most of the album is “super positive and inspiring” as she’s “feeling great” now.
She added: “There’s a little bit of heartbreak, I would say. Mostly I try to reflect where I am. Definitely, in the last year, there’s been some of that but we bounce back. Most of it is super positive and inspiring, as a note to self as much as anything else. I’m feeling great right now.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessie Ware, Wolf Alice, Rag’n’Bone Man and more are set to perform charity concerts for War Child BRITs Week Together with O2.
Each year music’s biggest stars perform in the run up to the BRIT Awards – which takes place at London’s The O2 arena on February 21 – and 2018 sees the most diverse line-up to date, with alternative group Deaf Havana, The Vamps, Kygo, Laura Marling, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats and Alt-J also set to play at various venues in the British capital next month.
Liana Mellotte, Head of Music, Entertainment & Development at War Child said:
“This year War Child turns 25 and has helped hundreds of thousands of children cope with the devastating effects of war. Since our first music fundraiser, it’s amazing and very humbling for us to be working with some of the world’s best music talent a quarter of a century later. It’s testament to the musicians who generously donate their time and talent to stand up for the rights of children in the most horrendous circumstances. The money helps fund War Child’s vital work delivering solutions protecting and educating children in some of the world’s worst conflict areas, such as Afghanistan, Jordan, Iraq, Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Yemen.

OHMYGOSSIP — Dolores O’Riordan’s death has sparked a surge in sales of her music – with one album’s purchases up more than 900,000 per cent.
The Cranberries singer passed away unexpectedly on Monday (15.01.18) in London at the age of 46, and since news of her death broke fans have been flocking to buy and download her music, with the band’s latest album ‘Something Else’ increasing by 913,350 per cent in Amazon’s Movers & Shakers list.
The purchases moved the record – which dropped last April – from 36,538 in the sales rank to number four.
Dolores’ 2007 debut solo album ‘Are You Listening?’ was also popular, surging 147,552 per cent, and the group’s debut album ‘Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?’ was up by 107,520 per cent.
Cranberries hits ‘Linger’ and ‘Zombie’ also attracted plenty of sales with the former increasing by 36,686 per cent and the latter – from their second studio album ‘No Need to Argue’ – boosted by a further 5,414 per cent of sales.
Fergal Lawler, Noel and Mike Hogan paid tribute to their “friend” and bandmate following her passing yesterday, admitting they have been “devastated” by the news.
In a joint statement on Twitter, they wrote: “We are devastated on the passing of our friend Dolores. She was an extraordinary talent and we feel very privileged to have been part of her life from 1989 when we started the Cranberries. The world has lost a true artist today. Noel, Mike and Fergal.”
Details of Dolores’ death are not yet known but she was thought to be in London for a short recording session.

Fergal Lawler, Noel and Mike Hogan have paid tribute to their bandmate, who passed away on Monday (15.01.18) in London at the age of 46.
In a joint statement on Twitter, the trio wrote: “We are devastated on the passing of our friend Dolores. She was an extraordinary talent and we feel very privileged to have been part of her life from 1989 when we started the Cranberries. The world has lost a true artist today. Noel, Mike and Fergal.”
Dolores was in London for a short recording session, but at present, no other details are known about her sudden death.
A statement released by a spokesperson at her representatives Lindsey Holmes Publicity said: “Irish and international singer Dolores O’Riordan has died suddenly in London today. She was 46 years old. Whilst a statement on the band’s official social media channels added: “Family members are devastated to hear the breaking news and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”
And the Met Police have confirmed Dolores death is being treated as “unexplained” after she passed in a hotel in Park Lane.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police in Westminster are dealing with a sudden death. Officers were called at 9.05am on Monday to a hotel in Park Lane. A woman in her mid 40s was pronounced dead at the scene. At this early stage the death is being treated as unexplained. Enquiries continue.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Diplo and James Corden have led tributes to Dolores O’Riordan.
The ‘Lean On’ hitmaker has paid tribute to the lead singer of The Cranberries, who tragically passed away in London on Monday (15.01.18) at the age of 46.
He wrote on Twitter: “this is horrible news to wake up to. rest in peace dolores. (sic)”
Whilst James added on his own page: “I once met Delores O’Riordan when I was 15. She was kind and lovely, I got her autograph on my train ticket and it made my day. She had the most amazing voice and presence. So sorry to hear that she’s passed away today x (sic)”
Kodaline also took to social media to pay their respects to the ‘Zombie’ singer.
They wrote: “Absolutely shocked to hear about the passing of Dolores O’Riordan! @The_Cranberries gave us our first big support when we toured with them around France years ago! Thoughts are with her family and friends (sic)”
And ‘Take Me To Church’ hitmaker Hozier shared: “My first time hearing Dolores O’Riordan’s voice was unforgettable. It threw into question what a voice could sound like in that context of Rock. I’d never heard somebody use their instrument in that way. Shocked and saddened to hear of her passing, thoughts are with her family.”
Sharing a link to an article about Dolores’ passing, Josh Groban wrote: Nooooo!! Have always adored her songs and voice (sic)”

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police in Westminster are dealing with a sudden death. Officers were called at 9.05am on Monday to a hotel in Park Lane. A woman in her mid 40s was pronounced dead at the scene. At this early stage the death is being treated as unexplained. Enquiries continue.”
Dolores was in London for a short recording session, but at present no other details are known about her sudden death.

OHMYGOSSIP — The Cranberries frontwoman Dolores O’Riordan has died at the age of 46.
The singer passed away on Monday (15.01.18) whilst in London for a short recording session, but at present no other details are known about her death.
A statement released by a spokesperson at her representatives Lindsey Holmes Publicity said: “Irish and international singer Dolores O’Riordan has died suddenly in London today. She was 46 years old. The lead singer with the Irish band The Cranberries, was in London for a short recording session. No further details are available at this time.”
Dolores was born and raised in County Limerick and family friend Canon Liam McNamara has paid tribute to the musician in the wake of her passing and sent his condolences to her family.
The priest – who was a co-celebrant at Dolores’ wedding to her ex-husband Don Burton at Holycross Abbey in County Tipperary in 1994 – told The Limerick Leader newspaper: “My heart goes out to the family. Dolores was their pride and joy. We all loved her very, very much. She got on well all the way through her life. I was very disappointed to hear today that she has left us so early in life. Her family did so much for her and supported her all the way through.”
The Cranberries formed in the early 90s and their first big hit single ‘Linger’ – taken from their debut LP ‘Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?’ – brought them to the attention of British, American and European audiences in 1993.
The band’s second album ‘No Need To Argue’ was released in 1994 and became a global smash, containing the singles ‘Zombie’, ‘I Can’t Be With You’ and ‘Ode To My Family’.
The band followed that record up with five more albums with the most recent release being 2017’s ‘Something Else’, but the proposed tour to support the acoustic LP had to be cancelled due to Dolores’ health issues.
In recent years, Dolores also fronted a band called D.A.R.K. and was in working on an unknown project at the time of her death.
The ‘Salvation’ singer split from her husband Don – the former tour manager for Duran Duran – in 2014 after 20 years together. They have three children, Taylor, 20, Molly, 16, and Dakota, 12.
The rock artist was raised and remained a Catholic and she had the honour of meeting the late Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI and performed at the Vatican on several occasions.
