Lewis Capaldi announces UK arena tour and mental health initiative

OHMYGOSSIP — Lewis Capaldi has announced a UK arena tour alongside an initiative supporting fans suffering from mental health issues.
The 22-year-old singer-songwriter will embark on a run of concerts at major venues in March 2020 – including a night at London’s The SSE Arena, Wembley – making him one of the first artists in history to announce arena shows before the release of a debut album.
As well as his tour, the ‘Someone You Loved’ hitmaker has announced LIVELIVE, which aims to help those who experience any form of anxiety or emotional difficulties and have concerns about attending concerts.
The initiative will help fans by providing a team at each venue who are expertly trained and qualified in assisting with panic, anxiety or any other concerns they may have, and the ‘Bruises’ singer hopes the service will “support” and help them “feel comfortable” attending his gigs.
He said: “I always get tonnes of messages from people online who have said they want to come to my shows but can’t because they’re struggling massively with anxiety or are just generally afraid they will have a panic attack during the show.
“I really wanted to put something in place to help those people feel comfortable and offer them support to allow them to experience the shows.
“I hate to feel that anyone’s anxiety is making them miss out on anything they want to do and LIVELIVE is my attempt at helping make these shows enjoyable for as many of those people who have been supporting this journey for me!”
All proceeds from a compulsory 50p extra charge at checkout for each ticket sale goes solely towards the initiative and tickets go on general sale on April 26 at 9am at https://www.livenation.co.uk.
The ‘Grace’ hitmaker’s debut album ‘Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent’ is released on May 17.
Lewis’ tour dates are as follows:
March 2, Manchester, O2 Apollo
March 3, Manchester, O2 Apollo

Mabel announces debut album High Expectations

OHMYGOSSIP — Mabel has announced her debut album ‘High Expectations’ will be released on July 12.
The 23-year-old singer has released details of her hotly-anticipated record, which is available on pre-order now, and revealed how working on the songs allowed her to “gain so much confidence”.
In a statement, the ‘Don’t Call Me Up’ hitmaker said: “‘High Expectations’ the title says it all.
“It’s about the expectations I have of myself, other people’s expectations of me and vice versa, especially in relationships. The general topic of the project is the negatives and positives that come with that.
“I want to send a positive message to everyone that’s going to listen to it. I’ve gained so much confidence from writing this album and that’s what I want people to take from it.”
The twice-BRIT-nominated star has already sold over three million singles in the UK – two platinum, three gold, and two silver – surpassed a billion streams and sold out the likes of Brixton Academy.
The star previously revealed that she has the title of her “empowering, uplifting and disarmingly candid record” tattooed on her neck – and the album will tell the story of Mabel’s own extraordinary life-story as well as those who inspire her – such as Destiny’s Child and Lauryn Hill.
The singer previously said of ‘High Expectations’: “It’s not just a collection of songs, it has to tell a story and it has to have a thread and it has to have different nuances.
“But when I figured out what that story was, the rest poured out. I am gassed off the name. I’m actually going to get it tattooed!”

Speaking with Apple Beats 1 radio, Jungkook named the ‘Bad Guy’ hitmaker as one of the artists that they are hoping to collaborate with.
Opening up about Eilish’s record, Jungkook simply said: “Everyone should hear it.”
The K-Pop sensations – who released their album ‘Map of The Soul: Persona’ earlier this month – have previously worked the likes of Halsey – on their track ‘Boy With Luv’ – and Ed Sheeran on ‘Make It Right’.

“She’s the master of putting the perfect amount of thought into not overthinking, and that’s why her music connects so well.
“[She] makes anyone older feel young again and anyone young feel they can do anything. It’s so rare and so special. If there is one thing I want to achieve in my career and life, it’s that.’
Khalid – who was nominated for five Grammy Awards last year – recently went to No.1 on the Billboard 200 with his sophomore album, ‘Free Spirit’.

Missy Elliott has ‘finished’ a long project

OHMYGOSSIP — Missy Elliott has teased new music is on the way.
The excited ‘Lose Control’ hitmaker took to Instagram to share a video of her celebrating completing a “long project” by bopping along to British group Soul II Soul’s ‘Keep On Movin” on Wednesday (17.04.19), and also revealed she is “about to” unleash what she has been working on.

The 47-year-old rapper hasn’t released a studio album since 2005’s ‘The Cookbook.
However, she recently returned with a collaboration with star of the moment, Lizzo, in the form of ‘Tempo’.
Missy – who became the first female rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in January – surprised the ‘Juice’ hitmaker by sending a memoji of herself singing into her iPhone before sending over her verse for their duet using the fun messaging tool.
Lizzo recently said: “She sent me a memoji of herself singing her verse, that’s how I got the verse. I got a Memoji of Missy like smiling and then she just started rapping, and I was like, ‘OMG what the hell.’
“I had to hook it up to my speaker system but it wasn’t even the actual track, it was like her going along in her studio so … and then she finally [sent] the track over and this was insane she killed [it].”
Meanwhile, Missy recently took to social media to discuss her own legacy, suggesting her innovation in the rap genre has meant critics often don’t know how to describe her.
She said: “I don’t think many know what category to put me in (I think)”

Nick Cave suggests future of rock music ‘perhaps isn’t worth saving’

OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Cave has suggested the future of rock music “perhaps isn’t worth saving”.
The Bad Seeds frontman believes there is “little new and authentic” rock music anymore because it has become more “cautious and corporate” than ever.
In response to a fan on his Red Hand Files website – which sees the singer openly reply to questions and letters – about his opinion on the current state of the genre, the ‘Bring It On’ hitmaker said: “It is within the very nature of rock ‘n’ roll to mutate and to transform – to die so it can live again. This churning is what keeps the whole thing moving forward. As musicians we are always in danger of becoming obsolete and superseded by the next generation’s efforts, or by the world itself and its big ideas. It looks like the new big idea is moralism. Will rock music survive this one? We shall see.
“My feeling is that modern rock music, as we know it, has anyway been ailing for some time now. It has become afflicted with a kind of tiredness and confusion and faint-heartedness, and no longer has the stamina to fight the great battles that rock music has always fought.
“It seems to me there is little new or authentic, as it becomes safer, more nostalgic, more cautious and more corporate.
“As far as rock music goes, I think that the new moral zealotry that is descending upon our culture could actually be a good thing. Maybe, it is exactly what rock ‘n’ roll needs at this moment in time.
“Contemporary rock music no longer seems to have the fortitude to contend with these enemies of the imagination, these enemies of art – and in this present form perhaps rock music isn’t worth saving.”
The ‘Red Right Hand’ singer believes a big overhaul is needed, so a new “form” of the beloved genre can begin.
He added: “Perhaps a painful reckoning is needed – a great crushing of creativity that descends and lays its self-righteous ice across art – so that in time, a wild, dangerous and radical form of music can tear its way through the ice, teeth bared, and rock ‘n’ roll can get back to the business of transgression.”

I’ve toured my whole teenage life, and early 20s, I realised and as you guys probably saw I was unhappy last tour and I don’t deserve that and you don’t deserve that, you pay money to come and have a lively energetic fun light concert and I was unable emotionally to give you that near the end of the tour.

Metallica feel uncomfortable with lengthy album wait

OHMYGOSSIP — Metallica feel “uncomfortable” with how long their latest record is taking.
The ‘Enter Sandman’ rockers last released an album three years ago and are working on their next studio project, but guitarist Kirk Hammett has said that none of his band mates – including Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield, and Robert Trujillo – are happy with how long the process is taking, because they’re all used to bands putting out albums “every year”.
Speaking to Mixdown, Kirk said: “When I was 13-14 years old, bands put out albums every year. Seriously, KISS put out an album every eight months. None of this eight years between albums.
“None of us are very comfortable with the fact it’s been so long, because that is a long time. We’re hoping to avoid that this time around.
“We’re in our third year since ‘Hardwired’. Maybe we can get a bit more focus and go into the studio a bit sooner. I have a ton of material. I’ve over-compensated, so I’m ready to go anytime.”
The band last released music in 2016 when they dropped ‘Hardwired… To Self Destruct’, but previously had an eight year gap before that, with no new music between ‘Hardwired’ and 2008’s ‘Death Magnetic’.
Kirk’s comments come after bassist Robert previously assured fans their new record won’t be another eight years away.
He said: “It will come a lot sooner than the previous two did … this time around I think we’ll be able to jump on it a lot quicker and jump in the studio and start working.
“We’ve all vowed to get this one going sooner than later. Now, how soon? I don’t know. We’ve been touring non-stop. It’s been over two years now. At some point, sure, we’ll need to take a little bit of a break. It’s sort of the right thing for us to do because we’ve been going so hard.”

Twenty One Pilots: We need to prove ourselves

OHMYGOSSIP — Twenty One Pilots still feel the need to “prove” themselves.
The ‘Stressed Out’ duo – comprised of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun – have seen massive success with their most recent album ‘Trench’, but have said they’re not done conquering the music industry just yet, as they don’t believe they’ve “won everybody over”.
Tyler said: “Why not dream big? Why not have as many people hear us and our art as possible? It’s fun. It’s cool to continue to travel and play music and have that be our jobs.
“I don’t know if we’ll ever get to a point where we feel like we’ve won everybody over and it’s on cruise control. Everything we do is us still feeling like we need to prove ourselves, in a way.”
But despite not thinking they’ve proven themselves, the band are set to take on their first headline slot at this year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals in August, and have said they didn’t realise how “gigantic” things had gotten for them.
Speaking to Dork magazine, Tyler added: “It’s not until we look back on it that we realise what was happening. We kept our heads down and just kept grinding and playing every day. It’s like when you don’t see a nephew for a long time; you realise he grew up, and he got taller, but if you were to live with him and watch him grow a fraction of an inch every single day, it doesn’t feel that dramatic.
“We just didn’t feel how gigantic everything got for us doing that touring cycle. It’s not until we look back on it after having a little bit of a break that we realised how special it was.”
Meanwhile, earlier this year, Twenty One Pilots confirmed they’re already working on new material to follow up on the success of 2018’s ‘Trench’.

“I’d never heard rock music that sounded that fresh, even though that record was released in 1975. I’ve also always wanted to do that Phil Spector production and add a saxophone to it.
“I’d say it’s a nod to Bruce Springsteen, although my publisher says it’s a headbutt.”

A spokesman for Arcadia previously said: “Same field – new world! We are currently wrestling giant bits of machinery.

Co-organiser Emily Eavis – who is the youngest daughter of Michael – previously revealed that this year’s Glastonbury would see some “radical switches”.

French Montana teases Kanye West’s spiritual direction

OHMYGOSSIP — French Montana says Kanye West’s new music is inspired by his spiritual connection to the church.
The ‘Unforgettable’ rapper has teased fans can expect something “so crazy” and “outside the box” from the ‘Famous’ hitmaker’s next set of songs and revealed how running his popular Sunday church service in Los Angeles has influenced his “new direction”.
Speaking to Zane Lowe on his Apple Beats 1 radio show, French teased: “He’s working on something that’s so crazy. I think he’s working on something bigger than music.
“When I went to go see him, he showed me something that was so crazy. But, that’s what makes people like him stand out, because he always thinks outside the box — really outside the box. Shout out to Kanye.”
The 34-year-old star – who used to date Kanye’s sister-in-law Khloe Kardashian – says that the ‘FourFiveSeconds’ hitmaker wants to “change the world” with his art.
He continued: “I just see that [West is] trying to do something that’s going to change the world.
“Whether it’s something to help the people, or something like … I feel like he’s going to touch something that’s going to change everybody’s life.”
And commenting on his new direction, French added: “The whole time I’m with him, he’s telling me about the church and he’s telling me about what his direction with the music is going.
“The whole time he’s like, ‘I’m thinking about doing this. All right? You know. I’m in that spirit. You know?’
“So I play him a couple records.
“I played a record called ‘Wiggle It.’ When the record stopped, he said, ‘What you doing with that record?’ I said, ‘My God. I thought you was going towards Jesus.’ This is across the street right here.”
Kanye’s next project is ‘Yandhi’, which looks set to feature a collaboration with Nicki Minaj.
In a recent episode of ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’, Kanye suggested the collaboration during a studio session with his producer.
He said: “What do you all think about Nicki on ‘New Body’?”
When his producer replied to say he thinks it would be “dope”, Kanye replied: “Yeah, OK. Send it to her then … Wait a second. Kim, you want to send it to her? She asked you.”
His wife Kim Kardashian West then added: “She did ask me, ‘Can Kanye send me new music?'”
The reality star then promptly got Nicki on FaceTime and the rapper told her the collaboration was “gonna be fire”.
Taking to Twitter following the episode being aired, Kim wrote: “Nicki really is the goat! @NICKIMINAJ We FaceTimed her and within an hour she had written the song and it’s soooo [hot].”
It is believed the track will also feature Ty Dolla $ign.
Nicki isn’t the only female collaborator Kanye is looking to feature on his new album, as he has also reportedly set his sights on Dua Lipa.
A source said recently: “Kanye is super impressed with Dua’s voice and he knows she’s really hot property in the industry right now. He met her at the church service he holds in LA every Sunday and is now keen to get her on board. She’s already teamed up with Calvin Harris and he saw how well that song did commercially.
“He’s got a few songs he thinks Dua would be perfect for and is really eager to get her on his next album Yandhi.”
