Abz Love has changed his name to ‘Love’ by D-Poll

OHMYGOSSIP — Abz Love has changed his name to ‘Love’ by D-Poll to celebrate the re-launch of his music career.
The 39-year-old singer – who was formerly in the 90’s boyband 5IVE – has opened up about his new EP ‘Golden’, which he will be releasing next month on his birthday (29.06.19), and the star has revealed that he has changed his moniker to just his surname because he wanted to “reinvent himself” and has asked his fans to join him and do the same.
He said: “I’ve written an EP that I’m going to release on June 29, my birthday, just to say here are some songs that are sitting on my iTunes doing nothing.
“I have a song called Golden and it’s a song about just making something beautiful, having something gold. I’ve changed my name man, I’ve called myself Love. I was like, ‘What shall I call myself? I’m going to change my name and reinvent myself.’
“I want to be the family of Love, come join, I invite everyone to change their name by D-Poll, it’s like £15 man come join the family.”
And Abz – who was dropped by his former label Sony BMG in December 2003 as a result of his drug addiction – admitted that he started making music again to help his recovery and “well-being”.
However, not all the melodies he was making were good, and he had to delete a track about a chicken off of his YouTube channel.
He told The Sun Online: “I had been making music purely for my own well-being to get stuff out stuff that’s in my head, whether that’s rhymes, raps or melodies. It’s not all good, I’m not going to lie.
“Man, I was living in the wilderness, in the forest and I wrote a song about a chicken and I deleted that off my YouTube real quick because when I got back to London I realised that it’s not a cool thing to sing about and no one really cares. I’ve had my moments.”

New Avicii track Tough Love released from upcoming LP

OHMYGOSSIP — A new Avicii track has been released from the late DJ’s posthumous album.
The Swedish DJ – whose real name was Tim Bergling – tragically died by suspected suicide in Oman on April 10 last year, at the age of 28, and ‘Tough Love’ is the latest single to be unveiled from upcoming LP ‘Tim’.
The track was produced and written by Avicii alongside longtime collaborators Vincent Pontare and Salem Al Fakir from Vargas and Lagola.
It’s said the song has stayed “true to the infectious nature of Avicii’s previous work and his desire to discover new sounds”.
In his notes about ‘Tough Love’, the DJ wrote: “This one needs to be a duet. Coolest thing would be a real couple. Or a couple that have worked together enough to be almost considered a couple!”
The album as a whole – which will have 16 songs and is set to be release on June 6 – has been completed using email conversations and text messages about music he had left behind, as well as nearly finished songs.
A message from his representatives previously stated: “He left behind a collection of nearly finished songs, along with notes, email conversations and text messages about the music.
“The songwriters that Tim was collaborating with on this album have continued the process to get as close to his vision as possible.
“Since Tim’s passing, the family decided not to keep the music locked away – instead they wanted to share it with his fans all around the world.”
Net proceeds from the album will benefit the Tim Bergling Foundation, which was set up by his family to help those struggling with mental illness and also to support the prevention of suicide.
His family said in a statement: “Tim wanted to make a difference. Starting a foundation in his name is our way to honour his memory and continue to act in his spirit.”

Jorja Smith lost her way creatively ‘a little bit’ last year

OHMYGOSSIP — Jorja Smith lost her “creativity” last year.
The 22-year-old singer is hoping to take some time out this year to find the time to watch “cool films” to inspire her music because she was just too “busy” in 2018.
She said: “When I was busy last year, I lost a bit of my creativity.
“So I also want to get back into watching more cool films and getting references from them for songs or music videos.
“I really do love the new music I’ve released.
“Probably because it’s about the things I’m going through now, like being more open. I’m just learning more about myself.
“I overthink a lot and have battles with my own mind; it’s good to write about it.”
The ‘Blue Lights’ hitmaker is looking forward to the coming months because she’s got some exciting professional opportunities, as well as time off to do the things she loves.
She added to ELLE magazine: “This year is going to be really fun. I’ve felt a lot happier in my presence and in my energy.
“I’m going to South America to play some music festivals, but I’ve got time off too, so I’m going to explore a bit. I want to read so much more this year. I only read one book in 2018 and started about four. ”
Jorja can be hard on herself if she makes a mistake and though she doesn’t want to let her standards drop, she also wants to be “proud” of her achievements.
She admitted: “I’m really hard on myself. Without it, I wouldn’t be who I am.
“I push myself every morning to do a shoot or a video or to do a recording.
“But if I mess up in a show, then the whole show is s**t and I beat myself up.
“I used to cry a lot, when all the doors were closed, when I did stuff wrong. I just got really upset.
“It’s now about finding that balance of being hard on myself but knowing when enough is enough. And looking at what I’ve done and being proud.”

Burt Bacharach inspired by politics

OHMYGOSSIP — Politics inspire Burt Bacharach to keep writing music.
The singer/songwriter – who will turn 91 on Sunday (12.05.19) – says he is upset by the state of politics in his native USA and one of his latest songs ‘Live To See Another Day’ has been inspired by the gun violence in America.
He told The Guardian: “This is my form of resistance. I can’t stand what’s happening in this country – my country.”
“We have 20 Democrat candidates running for president – there’s never been anything like it, not in my lifetime. Twenty! We must pick somebody who’s capable of getting rid of this guy [Donald Trump]. I’m not sure he’ll leave even if he loses. They’ll have to drag him out – unless he starts a civil war.
“He’s very dangerous. Every subpoena sent to the White House he ignores. He’s guilty of so much obstruction of justice. The good guys – the Democrats – have to stand united. It’s almost like Trump is making it so we have no choice but to start impeachment. We don’t want to. [Speaker of the House of Representatives] Nancy Pelosi – thank God for her. She’s keeping us together. We have to pick the right person. Keep your fingers crossed.”
Another new song ‘With A Voice’ is also inspired by his opposition to Trump with Burt explaining its theme as “the anguish of living in a Trump land”.
Bacharach also insisted that he doesn’t take his legacy for granted.
He explained: “I’m still here, still walking, still writing, still touring. It’s gratitude, and it’s attitude. They go together.”

Roger Daltrey announces 50th anniversary Tommy Orchestral album

OHMYGOSSIP — Roger Daltrey has announced The Who’s ‘Tommy Orchestral’ album to mark its 50th anniversary.
The ‘My Generation’ hitmaker toured the iconic rock band’s seminal 1969 LP ‘Tommy’ in full with his band and local orchestras across America last summer, and now they are set to release the record featuring the timeless music of guitarist Pete Townshend.
The new orchestration featured on the classic record was directed by renowned composer and arranger David Campbell – who has worked with music royalty including Adele, Radiohead, Bob Dylan, Metallica, Carole King and his son Beck.
‘Tommy’ was recorded live between Bethel in upstate New York – the home of the first Woodstock Festival – and Budapest, five decades ago, and was produced by frontman Roger and Keith Levenson, who worked on the ‘Tommy Musical’.
Roger’s live band is comprised of Pete’s younger brother, guitarist-and-vocalist Simon Townshend, Frank Simes (guitar), Scott Devours (drums), Jon Button (bass), and Loren Gold (keys).
Roger has heaped praise on bandmate Pete’s music for standing the test of time and said the tracks – which include ‘Pinball Wizard’ and ‘Overture’ – are complimented greatly by the orchestra.
The 75-year-old music legend also revealed that every time he performs the songs – which Pete composed as a rock opera that tells the story about a “deaf, dumb and blind boy” – live, he does it as though “it’s the first time” he’s sung them.
He said: “Pete’s music is particularly suited to being embellished by the sounds that an orchestra can add to the band.
“‘Tommy’ can mean whatever you want it to mean, I use the characters in it as metaphors for parts of the human condition, so it’s a kind of a story of the human spirit. Even though it is 50 years on, I approach it as though I’m singing it for the first time.”
The ‘Baba O’Riley’ group had said that their Teenage Cancer Trust show at The Royal Albert Hall in 2017 would be the final full performance of ‘Tommy’, however, they will be playing parts of the opera at their ‘Moving On’ show at London’s Wembley Stadium on July 6, with a full symphony orchestra.
‘Roger Daltrey: Tommy Orchestral’ is released via Polydor on June 14. ‘Pinball Wizard’ is out now on all major streaming services.
The track-listing for ‘Roger Daltrey: Tommy Orchestral’ is:
1 ‘Overture’
2 ‘It’s A Boy’
3 ‘1921’
4 ‘Amazing Journey’
5 ‘Sparks’
6 ‘Eyesight To The Blind’
7 ‘Christmas’
8 ‘Cousin Kevin’
9 ‘The Acid Queen’
10 ‘Do You Think It’s Alright’
11 ‘Fiddle About’
12 ‘Pinball Wizard’
13 ‘There’s A Doctor’
14 ‘Go To The Mirror’
15 ‘Tommy, Can You Hear’
16 ‘Smash The Mirror’

Metallica’s Kirk Hammett takes a tumble on slippery guitar pedal

OHMYGOSSIP — Metallica’s Kirk Hammett took a tumble at the heavy metal band’s concert in Milan on Wednesday night (08.05.19).
The guitar legend was performing his epic ‘Moths to Flame’ solo at the outdoor Snai San Siro Hippodrome in the Italian city when he slipped on his guitar pedal, which was soaking wet from the heavy rain.
Kirk laughed off the fall and posted a video of the moment on Twitter.
He captioned the clip: “Ummm- I slipped on my wet wah pedal.
It rained so much I felt like I was playing guitar in the shower. #MetInMilan @Metallica (sic)”
The 56-year-old rocker can be seen really going for it with his playing, before landing on his his back with his legs flung in the air, before carrying on like a professional from the floor and getting back on his feet again.
The ‘Enter Sandman’ hitmakers are currently on their ‘WorldWired Tour’ and show no signs of slowing down and plan to keep going for at least 20 years.
The band – completed by James Hetfield and Robert Trujillo – have no desire to quit touring or making music like their peers Slayer and are feeling more “energised and rejuvenated” than ever before.
Despite wanting to keep the band active, drummer Lars Ulrich, 55, admitted he has “no idea” what Metallica will “sound or look like” further down the line.
The stickman said previously: “A lot of people are retiring, and we feel very energized and rejuvenated. I mean, we wanna go [a] long [time].
“We hope we can get another 20, 25 years out of Metallica. I don’t know what it’s gonna look like, I don’t know what it’s gonna sound like, but that’s in our heads.”
Insisting they are in it for the “long game”, he added: “We’re not sitting there thinking retirement or this or that; we’re sort of more the opposite. So I would say, for us, everything we do is kind of a long game.
“And back then, when you were 17, you only think of, like, the next five minutes. ‘Where is the next beer? Wooh!’ So that’s kind of different mentality nowadays.”
Metallica feel like they are in a new chapter of their career because they have a whole new younger fan base.
He said: “It’s crazy. It’s unbelievable. There’s more younger kids at our shows than I can ever remember.
“Half the audience is under 20. And it also feels more like it’s [a] 50-50 [split] between boys and girls now, which obviously [wasn’t the case] 20, 30 years ago.”

Mel C takes the lead with Spice Girls’ musical direction for tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Mel C is taking the lead when it comes to the Spice Girls’ musical direction for their upcoming tour.
The 45-year-old singer – who is known as Sporty Spice in the group – has made it her “priority” to ensure that she and her bandmates Geri Horner, Mel B and Emma Bunton’s vocals are in top shape for the shows by using the same musical director she worked alongside on her solo music.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “The tour is going to have amazing costumes and epic staging, but Mel is passionate about the music and is adamant that the vocals are as much of a priority.
“The girls each have a House of Spice theme complete with groups of dancers branded as Baby, Scary, Ginger and Sporty, which will certainly entertain.
“But Mel insisted she brought in a musical director she has worked closely with on her solo material to boost the vocal performances and make sure the music hits the right note.”
The extensive stadium run – which won’t feature Victoria Beckham – kicks off in Dublin on May 24 and it was recently reported that Geri, aka Ginger Spice, has hired her own singing coach.
The band, who have been working hard in rehearsals, haven’t performed on stage properly together since the 2012 London Olympic Games Closing Ceremony, and the ‘Bag It Up’ hitmaker is determined to make sure their fans’ get their money’s worth.
An insider said: “Geri is anxious to make sure she is up to standard when the girls get back together … so she has hired a singing instructor.
“She doesn’t want to be the one people point the finger at if it isn’t note perfect.”
Geri’s recruitment of a vocal instructor came after reports that Sporty ordered her bandmates to take singing lessons.
The Northerner was worried as the group have not sang together in years and she believes it is “crucial they take the performance side of the money-spinning return very seriously”.
Geri also insisted that they never came close to asking fashion designer Victoria, 45, to join them on the road, even though Mel B claimed she was poised to sign up.
She said: “No, there was never a point it was all five of us. Mel thought she could make it happen if she just kept on saying it. She’s clever, you’ve got to hand it to her.”

Led Zeppelin documentary in the works

OHMYGOSSIP — A documentary on Led Zeppelin is in the works.
The as-yet-untitled project is now in post production, and traces the journeys of the four members – Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and the late John Bonham – through the music scene of the 1960s, their meeting in the summer of 1968 for a rehearsal that will change the future of rock, and culminates in 1970 when their second album knocks The Beatles off the top of the charts.
The documentary has been directed by Bernard MacMahon – who helmed the 2017 music documentary ‘American Epic’ – and celebrates the ‘Stairway to Heaven’ hitmakers on their 50th anniversary.
Speaking in a press release about the movie, Jimmy Page said: “When I saw everything Bernard had done both visually and sonically on the remarkable achievement that is ‘American Epic’, I knew he would be qualified to tell our story.”
Whilst Robert Plant added: “Seeing Will Shade, and so many other important early American musicians, brought to life on the big screen in ‘American Epic’ inspired me to contribute to a very interesting and exciting story.”
And John Paul Jones said: “The time was right for us to tell our own story for the first time in our own words, and I think that this film will really bring that story to life.”
The documentary features brand new interviews of Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones, as well as rare archival interviews with the late John Bonham, and never before seen archive film and photographs.
The film will be the first Led Zeppelin story told through the words of the members themselves, and is the first and only time the band have participated in a documentary in their 50 year career.
As of the time of writing, the film is yet to have a firm release date.

Jonas Brothers add dates to US tour

OHMYGOSSIP — Jonas Brothers have added new dates to their US tour.
The ‘Sucker’ hitmakers – made up of brothers Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas – have been in high demand since they reunited this year for the first time in six years, and are set to hit the road for a mammoth three month tour of America, named the ‘Happiness Begins Tour’, later this year.
But demand has been so high for tickets to the shows, the group have had to add four more shows, in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City and Toronto.
The group will now perform August 24 in Toronto, August 30 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, September 20 in Chicago and October 21 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
Their tour kicks off on August 7 in Miami, Florida, and continues all the way through into October with the final show now being the newly added Los Angeles date.
For the ‘S.O.S’ singers, it marks the first tour they’ve been on as a band in almost a decade, and will support their fifth studio album ‘Happiness Begins’, which is set to be released on June 7.
The album comes six years after their live album ‘Live’ was released in November 2013 just before the group went on hiatus, and 10 years since their last studio album ‘Lines, Vines, and Trying Times’.
Meanwhile, the brothers recently said they didn’t have any “healthy” communication with each other before their recent reunion.
Joe said: “In 2013, we all wanted to create something on our own and were just trying to force it into what was going on. We were going through the motions, without the heart of it … The way we communicated to each other wasn’t healthy anymore.”
However, now they have ironed out their differences, Nick feels like the trio are finally getting the “second bite of the apple”.
Nick said: “It feels like the second bite of the apple is potentially going to be even bigger because we’re in a healthy place, we’re enjoying the ride. And I think the music is a reflection of that.”

Keith Flint’s death not ruled as suicide

OHMYGOSSIP — Keith Flint’s death has not been ruled a suicide because there is not enough evidence to categorically prove he intended to take his own life.
The body of The Prodigy frontman was discovered at his Essex home earlier this month and Chelmsford Coroner’s Court has now heard Flint died from hanging and had unspecified amounts of cocaine, alcohol and codeine in his system at the time.
Police attended the singer’s home at the time and found there were no suspicious circumstances and there was no third party involvement.
The senior coroner for Essex, Caroline Beasley-Murray, recorded an open conclusion, stating there was not enough evidence to rule the 49-year-old musician had intentionally took his own life.
Explaining how she reached her conclusion, she said in a statement: “We will never quite know what was going on in his mind on that date.
“I’ve considered suicide. To record that, I would have to have found that, on the balance of probabilities, Mr. Flint formed the idea and took a deliberate action knowing it would result in his death.
“Having regard to all the circumstances I don’t find that there’s enough evidence for that.”
The coroner added that there was inadequate evidence to record the singer’s death as an accident where he may have been “larking around and it all went horribly wrong”.
The coroner told the court Keith’s family and band manager did not wish to attend the inquest.
Beasley-Murray added that she’s been “touched” by the support Flint has received from fans.
She said: “He clearly was extremely popular, he was much-loved by so many fans. It’s been very touching to see that, and of course I’m aware of the funeral service that was held in Bocking.”

Christine and the Queens found Rihanna song rejection ‘validating’

OHMYGOSSIP — Christine and the Queens found it “validating” to have her song rejected by Rihanna.
The ‘Titled’ hitmaker has revealed she penned a track about “sending nudes” for the R&B pop superstar after her team got in contact with her management.
And, although she thinks Rihanna was “too fierce” for the “feeble love song”, she is “down with” being rejected if she is “not worthy”.
She told TimeOut London: “My team were like ‘Rihanna is searching for you.’
“I was like, ‘What?!’ Then I wrote something but of course she didn’t take it, because I think it was really sad and depressing!
“Actually I love the song but I think it was too weak for her, it’s transparent skin, weak, feeble love song.
“It was about sending nudes. I liked the song but I think she’s too fierce for it.
“It’s okay to be rejected by Rihanna, I’m down with that. It was validating in a way, I was like, ‘Yes, reject me – I’m not worthy!'”
Christine also applauded her idol Madonna, who she was spanked on stage by as a fan at one of her gigs and even went on to duet with the ‘Like A Virgin’ in 2016, for being the only female artist who has a “threatening” “godly” presence “but owns it”.
The 30-year-old singer – whose real name is Heloise Letissier – says that it’s “rare” to find a woman in the industry who is “smart and badass” and still “powerful” without being “cute”.
On performing with the Queen of Pop, who she was happy “surrendering” to, Christine said: “I didn’t even know if Madonna was human or in a godly form.
“I surrendered to her.
“When I was on stage with her what I noticed was the charisma. But it’s really a dominant thing – you have to submit. Also as a feminist I was fascinated, I was like oh my god she’s going to eat us all. We love it. She’s actually I think the only woman in this industry that is threatening but owns it and people love it.
“I think it’s quite rare to achieve as a woman because we’re often mean to feel sorry for it or be cute – be powerful but cute.
“And then I watched a lot of documentaries and interviews with her and she’s really smart and badass.”
The ‘Saint Claude’ hitmaker also admitted that she feels “depressed” that not much has changed in over 20 years, and that Madonna’s 1992 LP ‘Erotica’ would still be deemed “scandalous” now.
She continued: “For example, ‘Erotica’ today would still be scandalous.
“So it also makes me depressed because I’m like things are not changing. But it was quite … I don’t know I was surrendering to Madonna. It feels good. It feels amazing.”

Ariana Grande bonds with BTS’ Jungkook after show

OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande has thanked BTS member Jungkook after he attended her show in Los Angeles on Monday (06.05.19).
The 25-year-old ‘7 Rings’ hitmaker took to Instagram on Tuesday (07.05.19) to post a picture of herself with the K-pop star after she was left “screaming” in excitement when he attended her concert.
She wrote alongside the image of the pair: “screaming. thank u soooooo much for coming to my show, Jungkook. it meant so much. love u sm (sic)”
Ariana’s sweet message comes after Jungkook, 21, also shared his joy at being able to attend the concert, after he posted a picture of himself holding merchandise from the show.
He wrote in English alongside the picture: “I felt and learned a lot after seeing her stage. I am really challenged by her stage and will try harder! #ArianaGrande (sic)”
And fans have already begun to speculate that the new friendship between the pair could open up doors for a possible collaboration in the future, as BTS – comprised of Jungkook alongside RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, and V – have already enjoyed successful collaborative efforts with the likes of Halsey, Ed Sheeran, Steve Aoki, and Nicki Minaj.
Most recently, the group teamed up with Halsey for their chart-topping single ‘Boy With Luv’, and with Ed Sheeran on ‘Make It Right’, both of which appeared on their album ‘Map of the Soul: Persona’, which was released last month.
RM, the group’s leader, recently said they “knew” they wanted to work with Halsey ever since first meeting her at the Billboard Music Awards in 2017.
He said: “We met two years ago at the BBMAs backstage. She told us that she became a fan after she watched music videos. We knew Halsey from ‘Closer’ [with The Chainsmokers], biggest song of that year. So we met backstage and she came to Korea last year, and we met again. We talked about, like, ‘We should collaborate. We should work on something.’ We got this track for this album and thought that Halsey would be the best voice for this track. It happened. Boom. Here we are.”

Andy Rourke: The world needs colourful characters like Morrissey

OHMYGOSSIP — Andy Rourke says the world needs “colourful characters” like his old bandmate Morrissey.
The 55-year-old bassist co-founded The Smiths with frontman Morrissey in Manchester in 1982, and he has admitted the music industry would be “boring” without “controversial” people like the ‘Everyday Is Like Sunday’ singer – who is known for his forthright opinions on topics including politics and animal rights.
Andy also described Morrissey as a “unique individual and a real talent”.
Appearing on ‘Red Stripe Presents: This Feeling TV’ to promote his new band Blitz Vega – with bandmate KAV – Andy was asked by co-host Gordon Smart: “What’s the most common thing people ask you about in relation to The Smiths?”, and he replied: “What’s Morrissey like?”
Gordon then asked: “And what is the answer to that question, seeing as you brought it up”, to which he laughed: “That’s a leading question. A unique individual and a real talent … it was special working with him [Morrissey].”
New host Laura Whitmore then asked: “Do we need those controversial characters, if we didn’t have them then the music industry would be different?”
And the musician admitted: “I think you definitely need some colourful characters, you have got to love John Lydon people like that and Morrissey obviously – without that it would be a boring world.”
The Smiths – which were also comprised of guitarist Johnny Marr and drummer Mike Joyce – broke up in acrimonious circumstances in 1987.
Relations between the band members were poor when Andy and Mike successfully sued Morrissey and Johnny in 1989 to get more than 10 per cent of the group’s royalties.
However, Andy put the past behind him and even reunited with Johnny on stage at two of his shows in the US in 2013, to perform the group’s songs ‘How Soon Is Now?’ and ‘Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want’
When asked what his relationship with Johnny is like now, he insisted that “no matter what” they will always be close as they grew up together.
He said: “It’s great, obviously he is very busy … but whenever he is in New York we meet up. I always go to his shows.
“He’ll come to my apartment and we hang out, go for breakfast, stuff like that.
“He’s one of my oldest friends; we were at school together, known him since I was 14. No matter what happens we are always going to be friends.”
