OHMYGOSSIP — Ariana Grande has thanked BTS member Jungkook after he attended her show in Los Angeles on Monday (06.05.19).
The 25-year-old ‘7 Rings’ hitmaker took to Instagram on Tuesday (07.05.19) to post a picture of herself with the K-pop star after she was left “screaming” in excitement when he attended her concert.
She wrote alongside the image of the pair: “screaming. thank u soooooo much for coming to my show, Jungkook. it meant so much. love u sm (sic)”
Ariana’s sweet message comes after Jungkook, 21, also shared his joy at being able to attend the concert, after he posted a picture of himself holding merchandise from the show.
He wrote in English alongside the picture: “I felt and learned a lot after seeing her stage. I am really challenged by her stage and will try harder! #ArianaGrande (sic)”
And fans have already begun to speculate that the new friendship between the pair could open up doors for a possible collaboration in the future, as BTS – comprised of Jungkook alongside RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, and V – have already enjoyed successful collaborative efforts with the likes of Halsey, Ed Sheeran, Steve Aoki, and Nicki Minaj.
Most recently, the group teamed up with Halsey for their chart-topping single ‘Boy With Luv’, and with Ed Sheeran on ‘Make It Right’, both of which appeared on their album ‘Map of the Soul: Persona’, which was released last month.
RM, the group’s leader, recently said they “knew” they wanted to work with Halsey ever since first meeting her at the Billboard Music Awards in 2017.
He said: “We met two years ago at the BBMAs backstage. She told us that she became a fan after she watched music videos. We knew Halsey from ‘Closer’ [with The Chainsmokers], biggest song of that year. So we met backstage and she came to Korea last year, and we met again. We talked about, like, ‘We should collaborate. We should work on something.’ We got this track for this album and thought that Halsey would be the best voice for this track. It happened. Boom. Here we are.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Lambert has declared a “new era” with the announcement of his new single ‘New Eyes’.
The 37-year-old star took a break from his solo career four years ago to go on tour with Queen and made his comeback in February with the single ‘Feel Something’, which saw him address coming out of a “dark period” where he became “depressed”.
The 37-year-old singer had been struggling with pressure in his career to “compromise on [his] artistic vision” that led to him “second-guessing” himself and entering into a downward spiral.
However, now he has teased a whole new chapter, kicking off with ‘New Eyes’, which is released on May 15.
He tweeted: “A new era begins May 15th: My new single #NewEyes .”
When he announced ‘Feel Something’, Adam penned an open letter to fans which read: “Let me offer a most sincere thank you for your patience and continued faith in me. You’ve pushed me to keep going even when I felt discouraged.
“I love making and performing music, but there have been many times where I’ve had to compromise on my artistic vision, with executives making decisions based on money and not art.
“Don’t get me wrong–I’m VERY proud of my body of work. But I’m coming out of a dark period of second-guessing my own artistry and having my mental health suffer because of it. I started asking myself, ‘Is all this hustle really worth it?’
“I put all my focus on work and started to feel detached in my personal life. My self worth was suffering, I was lonely, and becoming depressed.”
The former ‘American Idol’ star found performing with Queen gave him a much-needed boost but he also sought “professional help”, as well as relying on the support of his loved ones.
He continued: “Luckily, I have also been touring with Queen which recharges me with tons of positive energy. The fans we perform for are so full of love, and Brian May and Roger Taylor are a joy to play music with and always remind me of my value.
“Together we have collaborated creatively on our tours and this helped me to reaffirm my confidence in my artistry.
“Working with Queen helped keep my head above water, and I am so grateful to the spirit of Freddie Mercury, who has always inspired me to push ahead boldly.
“With a bit of professional help, and the support of colleagues, friends and family, I pulled myself out of the darkness.”
Adam went on to explain how he had “reached out” to new writers and artists, changed his management team and signed with a different record company and is now feeling much better about himself and his work.
He concluded: “The tracks will chronicle the journey of taking responsibility for my own happiness and strength, and searching for intimacy. Since writing this song, I’ve found the joy I was missing and I’m back in my power. I can’t wait for you to hear more!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jorja Smith “never” writes lyrics first.
The 22-year-old singer admitted her tracks don’t “make sense” at first but she’s found a way of creating new material that works for her.
She said: “I never write the lyrics before. I just sing and then write along to the melodies. It won’t really make sense at first, but I might repeat certain phrases or words, and keep doing that.
“I always record it on voice note on my phone, then go back.”
Jorja’s first single, ‘Blue Lights’, was released before she had a record deal and though it did “very well” she admitted she didn’t realise how successful it had been because she didn’t know what was or wasn’t “normal”.
She said: “The first song I put out was ‘Blue Lights’. But it seems like forever ago. I wrote that one when I was still in Walsall.
“I put it out because somehow it reminded me of home. And it went a bit mad, but I’d never put a song out before, so I didn’t know what was normal and what wasn’t normal.
“It did very well, so I put out another song, and another, then just kept putting out songs and videos… And now we’re here.”
The ‘On Your Own’ singer – who is dating producer Joel Compass – thinks it’s important to use her lyrics to write about what she’s experiencing at that time.
Asked if she writes about what she’s going through, she said: “Yeah, totally. I wrote recently: ‘I’m constantly in awe of what you teach me’. Because I get really angry and my boyfriend is really good at being calm. So I said: ‘Teach me’.
“I want to stop getting so angry because I can shout and scream. I need to chill out, which I find so difficult.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Bruce Springsteen has confirmed plans for another E Street Band tour.
The ‘Dancing In The Dark’ rocker admitted while he was struggling to write anything for his iconic group of musicians, he had a sudden spark of creativity which has prompted him to put plans in place for another trip on the road.
Speaking to Martin Scorsese at an event at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood Sunday night promoting his ‘Springsteen on Broadway’ special to Emmy voters, he said: “I’ve spent about seven years not writing anything for the band. I couldn’t write anything for the band.
“And then about a month or so ago, I wrote almost an album’s worth of material for the band and it came out of just… I mean I know where it came from, but at the same time, it just came out of almost nowhere.
“I had almost two weeks of those daily visitations and it was so nice. It makes you so happy. You go, ‘Fine, I’m not f***ed.’ There’ll be another tour.”
The Boss also opened up on why he feel “darkness” is so appealing to artists, and revealed he still revisits his hometown of Long Branch, New Jersey to reflect.
He explained: “If you’re an artist, the darkness is always more interesting than the light. It’s nice when you let the light in at the end of something, but I was always interested in what were the things that didn’t go right.
“I had a habit — I would drive back to my hometown and I would do this over and over again and I used to ask myself, ‘what am I coming back here for?’ And I still do it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Cure’s first album in over 10 years “will be the last”.
The ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ group have been working in the studio on their upcoming as-yet-untitled 14th record – their first since 2008’s ‘4:13 Dream’ – and keyboardist Roger O’Donnell thinks it will most likely be their final release.
He told SiriusXM: “I personally think it will be the last Cure record. I know it’s been said a million times before, but at this stage in our lives… As far as I’m concerned, yeah, this is it,.
“But I’ve gone into every album thinking this is it, and not glibly. I actually think this is it.”
Roger added that he even told frontman Robert Cure that it was time to say goodbye to the band and make it the “saddest” and “most dramatic” collection possible.
He said: “It’s epic, I can say that about it. I mean, playing it and sitting there and listening back to it… everybody’s jaws were dropping.
“I said to Robert a couple of years ago, ‘We have to make one more record, and it has to be the saddest record that’s ever been made and the most dramatic’. And I think it will be.”
Meanwhile, with the group – made up of Roger, Robert and their bandmates Simon, Jason Cooper and Reeves Gabrels – set to headline Glastonbury in June with many other festival dates lined up over summer, and the musician hinted that they could preview some of the new material at the shows.
He teased: “We’re thinking about playing it live, whenever we get to do that [and] whenever it gets finished.”

OHMYGOSSIP — James Arthur says Simon Cowell apologised for dropping him from Syco.
The former ‘X Factor’ champion was signed to the music mogul’s record label in 2012 but he was dropped just two years later after controversy over a song featuring aggressive lyrics, but in 2016 he was welcomed back.
Speaking to Sarah-Jane Crawford backstage at Radio Hits Live, James said: “I re-signed to Syco and they asked me to perform on ‘The X Factor’ on the same day.
“[Simon] was very humble, he said: ‘Thank you very much for accepting us again, we made a mistake before, you’ve been A-listed on all the radio stations’. It felt like all my dreams have come true.”
Although the ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ hitmaker is in a much better place now, he admitted he was worried his career was over when he parted ways with Syco.
He added: “I’ll never forget the day it was two-and-half years ago and I was like: ‘I’m done, I’m on the scrapheap’.
“That was September 2016 and I’m sitting there in my flat about to release this song and no labels in the UK would take it, I was blacklisted as I’d been a naughty boy.”
Meanwhile, the 30-year-old musician has previously revealed his plans to explore an acting career.
Speaking late last year, he said: “I’ve taken a couple of acting lessons. I’ve had people reach out and ask me if I want to come to auditions… When people ask me what other goals I’ve got and what are the ambitions I’ve got, it’s definitely acting.”
The British star thinks his troubled past, which saw him struggle with suicidal thoughts after being dropped from, and his battle with a drug addiction, will allow him to take on a range of different roles.
He said previously: “I want to become a Hollywood film star. I genuinely would love to be in some movies. I am a massive film geek and I love movies.
“I have been through, and seen so many dramas and traumas, and been in so many situations that I can probably interpret a few different characters.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Ashcroft performed a version of Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ at his concert at the Olympia in London on Saturday night (04.05.19).
The 47-year-old singer/songwriter was playing his own track ‘This Is How It Feels’ – from his 2016 solo album ‘These People’ – when he included his tribute to the late pop legend changing the lyrics to the famous chorus.
Ashcroft is on tour in support of his most recent LP ‘Natural Rebel’ and the album provided some highlights, including ‘Surprised by the Joy’ and ‘Money Money’, as well as other solo songs such as ‘They Don’t Own Me’, ‘A Song For The Lovers’ and ‘Hold On’.
But it was undoubtedly the songs by his former band The Verve that prompted the biggest reaction from his adoring fans.
‘Sonnet’, ‘Velvet Morning’, ‘Space and Time’ and ‘Lucky Man’ all sparked a sea of camera phones to be held into the air to capture the British rock icon playing those beloved tracks from The Verve’s seminal 1997 LP ‘Urban Hymns’.
After briefly leaving the stage, Ashcroft returned for a three-track encore which began with ‘C’mon People (We’re Making It Now)’ – from his 2000 debut solo record ‘Alone with Everybody’ – and then an emotional rendition of number one single ‘The Drugs Don’t Work’, of which every word was sang back at him.
He closed his show with ‘Bittersweet Symphony’ and before launching into the anthem he thanked all his fans for continuing to support him.
He said: “I thank you all, you pay your heard earned money to come and see me and I appreciate it. This is ‘Bittersweet Symphony’.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Madonna is set to go on an intimate theatre tour.
The Queen of Pop will play a string of small theatre shows in support of her upcoming album ‘Madame X’, and announced the news via a short sketch uploaded to YouTube, which featured herself and DJ Diplo.
In the video – entitled ‘Madonna – A Madame X Tour Announcement’ – she told Diplo: “I’m going on a theatre tour. Have you experienced the magic of a theatre? The intimacy of a theatre? I want to have an intimate experience with my fans.”
Whilst Diplo in the sketch thought the idea was “terrible”, Madonna insisted the small shows would make for a great atmosphere.
She added: “Look at us, like me and you, together and like … talking. We’re just gonna vibe with each other. We’re gonna get close.”
And then speaking directly to the camera, the ‘Vogue’ hitmaker closed the sketch by saying: “Madame X is going on tour. A theatre tour.”
In the description for the video, it was then revealed that the tour will begin in September this year, and will include short residencies in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
Madonna will also tour in Europe – including dates at the London Palladium – in 2020, although exact dates for those shows have not yet been announced.
The description read: “The Madame X Tour will kick off September 12th at the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House in New York and will feature multiple nights of shows in each city including performances at the Chicago Theatre, The Wiltern in Los Angeles, the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, the Boch Center Wang Theatre in Boston, The Met Philadelphia and at the Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theatre in 2019. The Madame X Tour will then resume in early 2020 with performances at the Coliseum in Lisbon, the Palladium in London and at the Grand Rex in Paris.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran have shared lyrics and a preview to their new song, ‘IDC’, which is out on Friday (10.05.19).
The pair recently got back in the studio again after having a hit with ‘Love Yourself’ in 2015, and after teasing fans by posting the same photography studio snap with the word “10” in the caption, which now seemingly appears to be alluding to the release date, Justin shared a 10-second teaser of the track playing on his iTunes player on Instagram Stories.
He captioned the clip: “Friday @teddysphotos (sic)”
The 25-year-old pop superstar also shared the lyrics on his page, which read: “Care/My baby yeah/Things disappear/Making Me Feel/I am Somebody/ The bad nights/ My baby yeah.”
Ed also shared a verse on his profile, which goes: “Coz I don’t/ When I am with all the bad/And you/That Maybe/I can deal with/when I’m with.”
It was recently reported that the flame-haired star’s new album will feature songs with Justin and Beyonce, but it’s not known whether ‘IDC’ is for the project.
The 28-year-old singer is working on a new record, which is expected to be released later this year, and will be comprised entirely of duets with other artists.
Along with tracks with Justin, Beyonce and Andrea Bocelli, Ed is also set to feature collaborations with “lesser- known hip-hop artists”.
Beyonce featured on a version of Ed’s hit ‘Perfect’ from his latest LP ‘Divide’ and Italian star Andrea on the operatic version titled ‘Perfect Symphony’.
Justin – who recently made his music return on Lil Dicky’s song ‘Earth’ with Ed, Ariana Grande, DJ Khaled, Katy Perry, Halsey, Shawn Mendes and Adam Levine – told fans in March that he wouldn’t be rushing his return to music because he wanted to take the time to make something he could be proud of.
He wrote in a lengthy social media post: “So I read a lot of messages saying you want an album .. I’ve toured my whole teenage life, and early 20s, I realised and as you guys probably saw I was unhappy last tour and I don’t deserve that and you don’t deserve that, you pay money to come and have a lively energetic fun light concert and I was unable emotionally to give you that near the end of the tour.
“I will come with a kick ass album ASAP, my swag is undeniable and my drive is indescribable his love is supernatural his grace is that reliable…. the top is where I reside period whether I make music or not the king said so. but I will come with a vengeance believe that.. (grammar and punctuation will be terrible pretend it’s a text where u just don’t care). (sic)”
However, he broke his hiatus to duet with ‘Thank U, Next’ hitmaker Ariana on ‘Sorry’ at Coachella last month.
During his impromptu appearance, which came after Ariana sung ‘Break Free’, Justin – who is married to Hailey Bieber – told the California crowd: “I haven’t been on stage in like two years. I came out here, no idea I was gonna be on stage tonight.
“I wore this fly outfit not knowing I was gonna be on stage. I had to get my groove back, get my swag back.”
The ‘Baby’ singer – who shares manager Scooter with the ‘No Tears Left to Cry’ hitmaker – then said: “Thank you Coachella, thank you to Ariana Grande. She’s so amazing by the way, she’s so awesome.”
He also teased that his new album – his first since 2015’s ‘Purpose’ – is “coming soon”.

OHMYGOSSIP — Billie Eilish was “terrified” of Eminem growing up.
The 17-year-old pop phenomenon was asked to pick her favourite rapper out of the ‘Lose Yourself’ hitmaker, Drake and Childish Gambino during an interview with Noisey, and made the admission after picking the latter, who she gushed “created” her.
She replied: “I have to say Childish Gambino, one billion percent.
“I was scared of Eminem my whole life.
“Terrified That dude freaked the f*** out of me. Oh my god. But you know, Childish Gambino created me dude.
“I don’t even know, that’s crazy, that’s a god you can’t even put him in a list of other people.”
The ‘Bury Your Friend’ hitmaker was asked the same question for Jay-Z and the late The Notorious B.I.G aka Biggie and Tupac.
She said: “Honestly Biggie.
I feel like Tupac’s vibe is cooler. Biggie’s voice just feels like a big heavy warm blanket on you, which is probably what it feels like if he laid on top of you.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Bad Guy’ singer has revealed she is planning to get tattooed as soon as she turns 18 in December.
She said: “I am turning 18 this year and the tattoos are on the way.
“I don’t have any yet as I am too young but I would love tattoos and I do have a lot of ideas for them.”
Billie is set to play Glastonbury Festival this June, and she is so popular, the festival’s organisers – Michael Eavis and his daughter Emily Eavis – are moving her performance to a bigger stage.
The superstar – who only released her debut album ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ in March – will no longer be performing on the John Peel Stage as planned at Worthy Farm as she is “much too big” and is instead set to play The Other Stage.
Emily said: “We’re currently moving her – she’s on John Peel at the moment but she’s much too big, really, for the slot.
“It’s happened so quickly for Billie Eilish. It’s been such an amazing year. It really is going to be her summer.
“We are trying to give her a bigger stage where we can get a larger audience in there.
“So we are going to move her on to The Other Stage and we are just working out exactly where that’s going to be.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lewis Capaldi has added two extra dates to his major 2020 UK and Ireland tour due to demand.
The ‘Someone You Loved’ hitmaker will now play a second night at London’s The SSE Arena, Wembley on March 13, and TECA in Aberdeen on March 15.
The Scottish singer – who has also announced a US run in September and October, and a big outdoor show at Stadtpark in Hamburg, Germany, on August 6 – is “buzzing” for the gigs.
Announcing the new shows on Instagram, Lewis wrote: “NEW SHOWS UK America & Germany ! v excited to announce a load more shows (swipe left)… another date at Wembley Arena in London, a huge show at Aberdeen’s new Arena! + a massive tour of America at the end of the year + a massive outdoor show at Stadtpark in Hamburg!! The ‘Grace’ singer is one of few artists to play an arena tour before releasing a debut album.
Alongside his UK shows, the 22-year-old singer/songwriter is launching an initiative supporting fans suffering from mental health issues.
LIVELIVE aims to help those who experience any form of anxiety or emotional difficulties and have concerns about attending concerts.
The initiative will help fans by providing a team at each venue who are expertly trained and qualified in assisting with panic, anxiety or any other concerns they may have, and the ‘Bruises’ singer hopes the service will “support” and help them “feel comfortable” attending his gigs.
He said: “I always get tonnes of messages from people online who have said they want to come to my shows but can’t because they’re struggling massively with anxiety or are just generally afraid they will have a panic attack during the show.
“I really wanted to put something in place to help those people feel comfortable and offer them support to allow them to experience the shows.
“I hate to feel that anyone’s anxiety is making them miss out on anything they want to do and LIVELIVE is my attempt at helping make these shows enjoyable for as many of those people who have been supporting this journey for me!”
All proceeds from a compulsory 50p extra charge at checkout for each ticket sale goes solely towards the initiative.
Lewis’ debut album ‘Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent’ is released on May 17.

OHMYGOSSIP — Joy Division are launching a capsule collection with Goodhood to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their iconic 1979 album ‘Unknown Pleasures’.
The ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ hitmakers and East London fashion and lifestyle retailer have joined forces with renowned art director Peter Saville, who was the mastermind behind their world famous artwork based on an image of radio waves from pulsar CP 1919, from The Cambridge Encyclopaedia of Astronomy, which he reversed the image of from black-on-white to white-on-black and printed on textured card for the original version of the record.
Goodhood are working on a whole range of products designed by Peter from apparel, homeware, accessories to lifestyle goods, all featuring the same style motif.
They are also working with brands such as Universal Works, YMC, Stepney Workers Club, Tom Wood, Big Love Records and more, to produce limited edition items also celebrating Peter’s iconic design, which is one of the most famous album covers and graphic designs in popular culture.
Peter also designed album sleeves for New Order, which the surviving members of Joy Division – vocalist and guitarist Bernard Sumner, bassist Peter Hook and drummer Stephen Morris – formed after frontman Ian Curtis tragically took his own life in May 1980, aged just 23.
As well as the capsule, the record is getting a celebratory anniversary reissue on June 14.
A press release states that “The LP will be pressed on 180g ruby red vinyl with an alternative white sleeve resembling the original design idea.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Brian May wants to see another Live Aid-type concert put on to raise awareness for climate change.
The Queen guitar legend, astrophysicist and noted environmentalist has called on musicians to come together again and repeat 2007’s ‘Live Earth’ concerts, which featured more than 150 musical acts in 11 locations, including Madonna, Foo Fighters, Metallica, The Black Eyed Peas and Shakira, to gather public support for action against climate change.
According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, Brian said: “It probably would take the younger generation to take that bull by the horns.
“We’d help in any way we can but I think that’s what it would require.”
Although, the ‘We Are The Champions’ hitmaker admitted it’s “not quite as easy” as putting on a concert to raise awareness.
He said: “People have seen so many concerts since Live Aid purporting to be solving the problems of the world so it’s not quite as easy as it seems.”
Brian is an animal activist and previously pledged to challenge the UK government’s decision to press ahead with a badger cull, and has spoken with the UK’s Environment Secretary Michael Gove to discuss alternative options.
The 71-year-old musician said: “It takes courage to stand up for animals, you take a lot of abuse.”
Previously speaking about their work to block the plans, he said: “We’re fighting the government to stop them killing our badgers.
“They’re on scheduled to kill like 10,000 of them this year, which is just the most appalling tragedy because it’s not going to help the farmers and it’s just beyond belief that the government are clinging on to this idea that killing the badgers is going to cure the TB problem.
“Badgers are a terrible red-herring. We’re always aware that the government is liable to bring back fox hunting. I think David Cameron views animals as something that gets in the way of making money. Maybe I’m out on a limb now as usual but this nation has such a long way to go.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Noel Gallagher has given away his awards and gold discs.
The former Oasis rocker has topped the charts with every album he’s ever released – including seven with the ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ band and his three solo records to date with the High Flying Birds – and won numerous prizes over the years, but he admitted he doesn’t keep anything physical to remind him of his accolades.
Speaking on Absolute Radio’s ‘Dave Berry Breakfast Show’, he said: “No, out of all the things I’ve one, I’ve got one of the Ivor Novellos at home, and I think that’s it. The discs and all that, I think I’ve given them all to charity … The awards, I’ve only got an Ivor Novello.”
The star – who admitted he used to give the trophies to “girls from the office” rather than taking them home himself – has unveiled the title track from upcoming new EP ‘Black Star Dancing’.
The wide range of influences has impressed legendary producer Nile Rodgers, who heard it in the studio while he was working with Rebecca Ferguson and described it as “dope”.
Noel added: “That’s the only affirmation I need!”
Meanwhile, he admitted that even after such an illustrious career, the Britpop icon still gets “excited” about new releases.
He said: “I just make the music that I like … I get to do what I want which is great. But I do get excited. I think the day you stop getting excited about new music coming out is the time to pack it in.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Bobby Gillespie says being in Primal Scream was a “long process of self-discovery”.
The 56-year-old musician credits finding the alternative rock band – which he has been a part of since the 1980s – as helping him to realise he wouldn’t end up on the “industrial scrap heap”.
He said: “For me the whole point of being in a band was to escape the fate that had been decided for me by my school – the industrial scrap heap. Being around musicians, and eventually being in Primal Scream, was a long process of self-discovery. I found that I could be a creative person. That’s the most powerful thing for me: that I had potential that I never realised I had.”
Last month, Bobby claimed rock ‘n’ roll was “over” but he has now clarified his comments, revealing that he feels it doesn’t have as much of an impact “culturally” now as it did before.
Speaking to ES magazine, he added: “I think what I meant was that culturally it doesn’t have an impact any more. I don’t think it’s got any gravitas, not in the way it had in the 1950s, you know, or the cultural gravitas of the 1960s or 1970s, maybe even of the 1980s. I feel that the energy for young people is somewhere else.”
Bobby had previously claimed rock ‘n’ roll is “dead” because there are no “interesting characters” and he can understand why young people are more interested in grime music because it is much “sexier”.
He said: “[Rock ‘n’ roll] is dead. There’s no counterculture any more, nobody flash any more. There’s loads of records I like but there’s no interesting characters, no Johnny Thunders, the music’s a retread. It’s s***e. I’d much rather go to a talk by left-wing writers and philosophers than see bands.
“My kid said a few years ago, Christmas, granny was in the kitchen, ‘Gimme Shelter’ was on, she was singing along. He laughed and goes, ‘Dad, you can’t expect me to like the music my granny likes’ and I went, ‘Totally’. My kids like grime, drill, that’s where the edge is now, it’s sexier, more violent, more glamorous.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Justin Bieber has claimed that Eminem “doesn’t understand” the new generation of rap.
The ‘What Do You Mean’ hitmaker has seemingly criticised the legendary rapper, after he used his track ‘The Ringer’ to slam some of rap’s new stars including 21 Savage, Machine Gun Kelly, Iggy Azalea, Lil Pump and Lil Xan.
After posting ‘The Ringer’ to his Instagram story, Justin followed up with a note that read: “I just like Em’s flow but don’t like that he’s dissing new rappers. I like the new generation of rap, he just doesn’t understand it. (sic)”
Eminem had a particularly strong war of words with Machine Gun Kelly and previously revealed he dissed him a track because the young rapper accused him of hindering his career.
He explained: “The reason that I dissed him is because he got on – first he said, ‘I’m the greatest rapper alive since my favourite rapper banned me from ‘Shade 45,’ or whatever he said, right? Like I’m trying to hinder his career. I don’t give a f**k about your career. You think I actually f***in’ think about you? You know how many f***in’ rappers that are better than you? You’re not even in the f***in’ conversation.
“Now I’m in this f***in’ weird thing, because I’m like, ‘I gotta answer this motherf***er.’ And every time I do that, it makes that person – as ‘irrelevant’ as people say I am in hip-hop – I make them bigger by getting into this thing, where I’m like ‘I want to destroy him. But I also don’t want to make him bigger.’ You know what I’m saying? Because now you’re a f***ing enemy’ […] I’ll leave it at that. I’m not sure exactly what I’m going to do at this point right now.”
