OHMYGOSSIP — Billie Eilish disturbs her sleep whenever she gets an idea for a song.
The ‘Bury Your Friend’ hitmaker has opened up about her creative process for the hit single and explained that often her inspiration comes in the middle of the night when she is having a “crazy dream” or thoughts, and she always jumps out of bed and writes what is on her mind.
Speaking in a video interview for YouTube’s ‘Artist Spotlight Stories’, she said: “When I have a crazy dream or if I just have a thought in the middle of the night, I’ll sit up, whether the light is on or whether the light is off, I’ll sit up and i’ll just write whatever I’m thinking or whatever I just dreamt about.”
The 17-year-old pop phenomenon – who released her debut album ‘When We All For Asleep, Where Do We Go? in March to critical acclaim – takes every aspect of her art very seriously from the artwork to the music videos.
Showing the wall she has written and drawn designs on after being inspired, which features in the promo for ‘Bury Your Friend’, she said: “I just need people to know how important this s*** is to me.
“Everything goes together.”
Meanwhile, Billie recently admitted she is grateful for Ariana Grande’s advice.
The ‘Bad Guy’ singer feels blessed to have the ‘God is a Woman’ hitmaker as her friend to help her deal with the ins and outs of stardom.
She said: “Ariana is a f***ing king! Like a king. She is just so … God, man, and the s**t that she’s been through. I don’t know if I have respect for anyone like I have for her, honestly. You can just tell she knows what the f**k she’s doing, and even if she doesn’t realise it, she knows what the f**k she’s doing. And it’s really impressive. She just deals with it so well. It’s so impressive.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Ashcroft “definitely” plans to record music with his pal Liam Gallagher.
The former Verve frontman supported the ‘Wall of Glass’ hitmaker at a string of concerts around the globe last year – including making a surprise appearance at Liam’s mammoth gig in London’s Finsbury Park in June – and has now said they “100 percent intend” to make music together.
Speaking at the Ivor Novello Awards on Thursday (23.05.19) he said: “I know sometime in the future we definitely 100 percent intend to do songs together.
“I don’t believe any songs on this record but I’m excited about it, I’m excited for him, he’s a good friend of mine. We’re one of the few people that’s on that level as a frontman.”
Richard, 47, went on to insist that he has no plans to stop making music anytime soon as he “loves performing live” and said that it’s only when he isn’t “physically” able that he’ll stop putting on shows for his fans.
The ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’ hitmaker added: “It’s only physicality that will stop me adding that desire to explore music to my fans and enjoy this gift I’ve been given.
“I’m aware that just as many people who like me, don’t like me and once you’re comfortable with that you’re never going to please the whole world musically.
“That’s just the ying and yang and the balance of life. That’s a kick, to be negative gives people a kick now, from a younger person starting out, it’s much easier to get someone else’s work and say ‘I’ll sing that blame him!’
“There’s no one to blame so you take on that responsibility, you better believe you’re taking on all that.
“I love performing live. My voice is better, I have a much stronger voice now than I had, I sound like a child back then.”

OHMYGOSSIP — All Points East 2019 got off to a triumphant start on Friday (24.05.19) with a headlining set from The Chemical Brothers.
The iconic electronic duo – who recently released their ninth studio album ‘No Geography’ – headlined the East Stage at Victoria Park in Tower Hamlets, London, where they treated fans to an expansive multi-sensory performance, featuring 3D visuals, piercing lasers and even colossus robots on stage.
They started their set with several new tracks including ‘MAH’ and the acid-infected number ‘Free Yourself’, but also made sure to include some of their most famous songs.
The 1999 anthem ‘Hey Boy Hey Girl’ and classics ‘Saturate’and ‘Galvanize’ formed part of the career-spanning set.
Hot Chip, Kate Tempest, Róisín Murphy, Danny Brown and Little Simz were also on the bill, with Primal Scream taking over the North Stage.
Frontman Bobby Gillespie strolled out donning a striking pink suit before belting out a hit-filled set, culminating with a hat trick of ‘Loaded’, ‘Country Girl’ and ‘Get Your Rocks Off’. Kate Moss, Florence Welch and Sadie Frost were among the famous faces in attendance.
The opening day for the West Stage was closed by Jon Hopkins, whose hypnotic visuals captivated a full house. He included tracks from his recent album ‘Singularity’ along with his crossover 2013 album ‘Immunity’
On the North Stage, Kate Tempest opened her captivating set with 2015’s ‘Europe Is Lost’, before performing hits from her last record ‘Let Them Eat Chaos’. Six new tracks followed, all taken from her forthcoming album ‘The Book Of Traps And Lessons’, due out next month.
Upcoming performances at the festival, will include The Strokes’ first UK show in four years, as well as The Raconteurs’ first UK festival slot in over eight years.
Also featuring is Johnny Marr, Interpol, Parquet Courts and national treasure, Jarvis Cocker. Bring Me The Horizon, Mumford & Sons, Bon Iver, Run The Jewels, Dizzee Rascal and John Grant will also feature.
Christine & The Queens, headlining her first festival and biggest show to date, is on the bill for the closing weekend.
Meanwhile, a number of famous faces were spotted at the festival, with Jamie Dornan seen at the Ray-Ban installation, where he picked up a pair of new glasses, and joked with friends.
Jamie was joined by Gary Lineker, chef Gizzie Erskine, Sadie Frost and Renee Stewart.

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher has finished work on his second album.
The 46-year-old rocker – who enjoyed considerable success with his debut solo album, ‘As You Were’, in 2017 – has taken to Twitter to reveal he’s moved a significant step closer towards releasing his much-anticipated second solo record.
He wrote on the micro-blogging platform: “Album 2 in the bag Dya want some LG x (sic)”
‘As You Were’ was a critical and commercial success upon its release in October 2017, debuting at number one in the UK.
Earlier this month, meanwhile, filmmaker Charlie Lightening claimed that Liam’s second solo album will be his ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’ moment.
The director – who helmed Liam’s documentary ‘As It Was’ – said the outspoken star’s upcoming release could have the same impact as Oasis’ sophomore record.
Previewing the singer’s new material, Charlie shared: “It’s a continuation of ‘As You Were’. If you look at ‘Definitely Maybe’ and ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’, one’s the more punkier one and one’s the bigger one, you know what I mean?
“That’s progression. It’s someone in the prime of it all. People aren’t gonna be disappointed with it. I think it’s gonna blow people away.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Wiley considers Stormzy to be a “new inspiration”.
The 40-year-old rapper – who is widely known as the Godfather of Grime – has admitted to being inspired by the London-born MC, who is now one of the best-selling artists in the UK.
The veteran star said: “Stormzy is my new inspiration. He’s younger than me but he’s the one who’ll keep it going on. I’ve nothing but respect for him.
“Maybe there was a time when I put out a project and earned a bit of extra money because he was bigging me up. I wasn’t asking for that. It’s not about money, but the way that he showed respect really helped me to go on.”
Wiley also revealed he’s made a concerted effort to remain close to his roots, despite enjoying a lengthy and lucrative career in the music business.
He told NME: “To keep grounded, I remember that I’m a youth club kid.
“I came from there onto pirate radio. I didn’t go straight into the music industry and 17 and become a child star. I don’t know where they’ve all gone recently, but they were good for us. I don’t know how it goes with the youth club stuff for the generation today.
“The ones I went to might have shut down, but the people who run youth clubs are great. They just want the best for you, and they’re not your mum or dad. That’s amazing.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Charli XCX “really went all in” on her new album.
The 26-year-old singer dropping her new single ‘Blame It on Your Love’ featuring Lizzo earlier this month, which marked her first new solo material since her standalone collaboration with Troye Sivan, ‘1999’, which she released last year.
And after having teased her third full-length LP following the release of two mixtapes – ‘Number 1 Angel’ and ‘Pop 2’ – in 2017, Charli has revealed what fans can expect from the new music.
She said: “I didn’t go small on this, I really went all in. Maybe too in, so I really wanna prep people. Since the mixtapes, I’ve really wanted to push my sound and push pop as far as it can go. I feel really proud of the music that I’ve made, so I really want the songs to have as much of a moment individually as possible.”
The ‘Boys’ hitmaker admits there are plenty of “experimental moments” on her new record, as she teamed up with some “really great producers”.
She added: “There are definitely lots of more experimental moments. I’ve been working with some really great producers from A. G. Cook to Nomack, who is really incredible at sound design. There are a lot of harder moments on the record compared to really stripped-back things.”
And Charli says she didn’t take “a lot of time” on the new LP, because she believes she makes “better” music “under a time pressure”.
Speaking to NME magazine, she said: “The album [has] definitely been quite a [quick process]. I don’t really like taking a lot of time. I spent a little bit more time but it is very rapid fire – I like to be very spontaneous with the decisions I make around my music. So for me, if I’m under a time pressure the music’s better. First instinct only, always. I think that’s the best.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ellie Goulding has to have a drink before she goes on stage.
The ‘Love Me Like You Do’ hitmaker may have played gigs across the globe, but she’s still “too shy” to get up on stage without a little Dutch courage, as she says she almost always has a drink before her performances.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column, she said: “I generally have a drink or two before I go on stage – I’m too shy otherwise. I’ll have a vodka soda or something, nothing too heavy. I can’t drink whisky. White wine is not really my thing either. I like a gin and tonic.”
Ellie, 32, performed at the royal wedding reception of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank last year, after having previously played a medley of covers and her own tracks at the 2011 wedding of Prince William and Duchess Catherine.
And the singer admitted recently that the experience of performing in front of the royals put her in “nervous robot mode”.
She said: “I’m always nervous at the best of times, I’m just quite a nervous person but I try and use it to my advantage. I think with those two particular gigs I just thought, ‘God I have to have to be professional, just do the job, they want to hear the song, they want me to sing them well, and then go.’
“Sometimes I go into professional, robot mode and just got up there, perform the songs, do them as best I can and then go, and hope they had a good time. I’m good at doing that thank god.”
The ‘Close To Me’ hitmaker also previously explained that being on the road for long periods of time can be hard to “take on” by herself.
She added: “I realised I was the one on stage, and had my band, incredible team and my team around me, but really at the end of the day it was me up there, so it was hard to take on and a lot by myself. I signed my record deal when I was really young and then it was my life in my 20s.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Ashcroft has regained the rights to ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’, after Sir Mick Jagger and Keith Richards agreed to give up their shares in the song.
The 47-year-old singer and songwriter penned the famous track over 20 years ago for his band The Verve, which used a four second sample of an Andrew Loog Oldham orchestral cover of The Rolling Stones song ‘The Last Time’.
Whilst permission for the recording was obtained, permission for use of the song was not, and so at the time of its release in 1997, Richard was forced to give up all the rights to the iconic track, including the total lyrical content.
But after enduring the loss of his song for more than two decades, Richard has now finally regained the rights to the track, after his management appealed to Rolling Stones members Mick and Keith directly.
The pair have agreed to give Richard back the song to the extent it is within their power to do so, meaning all future royalties made from the track will go to Richard.
But more importantly, Mick and Keith have said they no longer require a writing credit for ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’, as they acknowledge that as far as they are concerned, the song belongs to Richard.
In a statement given after he received the Ivor Novello Award on Thursday (23.05.19) for his contributions to music, Richard said: “It gives me great pleasure to announce as of last month Mick Jagger and Keith Richards agreed to give me their share of the song Bitter Sweet Symphony. This remarkable and life affirming turn of events was made possible by a kind and magnanimous gesture from Mick and Keith, who have also agreed that they are happy for the writing credit to exclude their names and all their royalties derived from the song they will now pass to me.
“I would like to thank the main players in this, my management Steve Kutner and John Kennedy, the Stones manager Joyce Smyth and Jody Klein (for actually taking the call) lastly a huge unreserved heartfelt thanks and respect to Mick and Keith. Music is power.”
As proof of their newly formed bond, The Rolling Stones invited Richard to support them at their huge outdoor shows in Manchester and Edinburgh last year, making him the only artist to join them at more than one show during their 2018 European tour.

OHMYGOSSIP — Wiley says music “saved” him and his friends.
The 40-year-old grime star picked up The Ivors Inspiration Award at the 64th Ivor Novello Awards on Thursday (23.05.19) and is so grateful to his father for giving him “the gift of music” as he feels it saved his life.
Speaking to Sky News after he collected the gong at the ceremony in London, he said: “This means a lot because my dad gave me the gift of music and I went on and tried it with me and my friends … That’s what he was to me, that’s what I was to other people. There were people that was that to me also. To be inspire and to inspire is a good thing and I just think that sometimes when you’re in your life and you think you want one thing but that’s not the right thing and you chase it. Music has saved a lot of me and my friends because we thought we wanted to do something else but it wasn’t that and then we found this. This was the right thing.”
Meanwhile, Wiley’s journey to becoming the Godfather of Grime is set to be the subject of a new documentary, which will focus on the “highs and lows” of his life and career and document the “lost” musicians who have helped to bring grime music to the mainstream.
He said: “This is my life, my highs and lows, but it’s not really all about me. When I make music, help the scene or even do something like this, it’s like I’m not alone any more. It’s for people who grew up like me. I’m doing it to help people who are lost like me.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Bobby Gillespie has compared rock to “dying language” Latin.
The Primal Scream frontman has previously professed how there are no “interesting characters” left in the genre and he can understand why young people are more interested in grime music because it is much “sexier”.
And now he has expanded on his opinion and admitted that rock no longer has the “inventiveness, sex and danger” of rap.
He told The Daily Telegraph newspaper: “Rock is like Latin, it’s a dying language, it’s old, it’s finished, and it really has nothing more to say.”
Describing rap music, he added: “It’s like they’re talking an occult language, and that’s how it should be. It’s got irony, intelligence, inventiveness, sex and danger.”
The 56-year-old vocalist – whose band released their last album ‘Chaosmosis’ in 2016 – says a lack of a “sex symbol in white rock” hasn’t done the genre any favours.
He said: “You’ve got rappers on acid going mental on stage, skinny, covered in tattoos, crazy coloured hair, high fashion, some of them wear dresses. Guys in rock bands dress like they’ve come to fix your electrics.
“There’s not one sex symbol in white rock anymore, cause there nae sex in it.
“It’s very solipsistic, so inward looking, it’s all me, me, me. Rock is dead.”
Although he doesn’t hold out much hope for rock ‘n’ roll, Bobby says he is a “rocker till I die” and is “glad” the youth of today still play rock tunes.
On steering the ship as the lead singer, he said: “Primal Scream is a team effort, we’re all in it together, no one is bigger than anyone else.
“But the frontman is like the captain, you’re the centre forward, you’ve got to lead the charge.
“The band are setting you up, you’re in the six-yard box, just smash it in the back of the net.
“He added: It’s a paradox, I know. I love rock ‘n’ roll, it’s a great democratic art form, and I’m glad there’s still kids playing it. I’m a rocker ’til I die.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Spice Girls are reportedly set to pay tribute to Victoria Beckham at their upcoming reunion shows.
The 45-year-old singer – who was known as Posh Spice in the girl band – has decided not to join her bandmates Geri Horner, Mel B, Emma Bunton and Mel C on the extensive run, which kicks off at Dublin’s Croke Park on Friday night (24.05.19), but the ‘2 Become 1’ hitmakers are said to have included a “significant mention” to the fashion designer in their set.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “They’ve come up with a tribute to her and she’ll be getting a significant mention on stage in the most glowing terms, visually and verbally. They’ve decided it’s the right thing.”
There was talk of Victoria joining the girls on stage at one of their London shows, but she is only planning to come down to see the show.
Emma – who is nicknamed Baby Spice – previously said it was clear when they briefly got back together for the 2012 London Olympics Closing Ceremony – the last time they shared the stage together – that Victoria wanted to “move on” from her time in the band.
She said: “I think we kind of realised at the Olympics that maybe it was something that [Victoria] didn’t want to do all the time anymore and I think we were all nervous at the Olympics. But I think it showed with Victoria that maybe this was something she wanted to move on from.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Viva Forever’ hitmakers shared a series of photographs from rehearsals ahead of the start of their reunion tour earlier this week.
The ‘Wannabe’ hitmakers showed the impressive staging they’ll use, which comes complete with several strobe lights and a large ‘Spice World’ banner around a globe.
In a second snap, Mel C and Geri – Sporty Spice and Ginger Spice respectively – held hands and sang into their microphones, alongside the caption: “Friendship never ends #SpiceWorld2019
@gerihalliwell @melaniecmusic (sic)”
And a third picture showed a similar image of Emma and Mel B – Baby Spice and Scary Spice – holding hands.
That snap was captioned: “Take my hands and dance with me #SpiceWorld2019 @emmabunton @officialmelb (sic)”
The two captions reference lyrics from ‘Wannabe’ and ‘If You Can’t Dance’ respectively.

OHMYGOSSIP — Slipknot are keeping the identity of their mysterious new bandmate sealed.
The ‘Wait and Bleed’ hitmakers recently added a ninth band member, a
percussionist to replace Chris Fehn, who left the heavy metal group in March, and the band’s other percussion player Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan has refused to reveal to fans who it is.
He told Kerrang! magazine: “The position you may or may not be talking about is nobody’s f***ing business. The proof is in the pudding.”
Meanwhile, frontman Corey Taylor recently teased that Slipknot’s upcoming album ‘We Are Not Your Kind’ is the “darkest writing” he has done in six years.
The 45-year-old singer insisted it was vital for the outfit to make a “crazy” and “insane” sixth studio album, and told their fans – who are known as Maggots – to expect one of the band’s heaviest-ever records to date.
He said: “It’s very dark. It’s some of the darkest writing I’ve done in years.
“In the Slipknot index, this album would sit somewhere between [2001 second album] ‘Iowa’ and [2004 third album] ‘Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)’.
“Lyrically, it has the force of ‘Iowa’, but musically it has the heaviness but the experimentation as well.
“It was very important for us to go somewhere crazy and make something insane.”
The ‘Spit it Out’ rocker previously opened up about going through a bout of depression around the time of his divorce from second wife Stephanie Luby – who he was married to from 2009 to 2017 – and while part of the record deals with his feelings, he will not have to go through such pain when playing the songs live.
He added: “I was able to let that pain go. It means that I can kind of enjoy everything for what it is now.
“It’s night and day from where I was two and a half years ago, so now I can listen to the music and go, ‘Jesus Christ.’
“But, at the same time, it helps to know where I was. It’s one thing to record something heavy; it’s another to forget what inspired it. And, for me, that will never go away. My memory is long. I can tap into that, but that’s it.”
Last week, Slipknot confirmed the name for their hotly-anticipated record, which has been produced by Greg Fidelman, and revealed the album will drop on August 9th.
Guitarist Jim Root said: “This is the most time we’ve had to write a record, and work stuff out together.
“One of my inspirations this time around was those artists that recorded full length albums – not just songs. While the industry is moving toward singles, Slipknot wanted to make an album experience, front to back.”
Clown added: “These days the art we are making comes with the highest reward, because it’s taken the most time.
“Almost four years to create this emotion and temperature, and the reward now is nothing short of salvation.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ally Brooke channels her “sultry and flirty” side on new single ‘Lips Don’t Lie’.
The 25-year-old Fifth Harmony member has followed up her Tyga-featuring debut solo single ‘Low Key’ with the new track with US rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, which is about how kissing is the best way to determine if there is a “real connection” between the two people.
Ally said: “‘Lips Don’t Lie’ is the song I’ve been most excited for people to hear.
“It’s a different side of me – a little sultry and flirty – all about how a kiss can be the truest way to tell if a connection is real.”
The new single also follows her features on ‘Vámonos’ with Kris Kross Amsterdam & Messiah, ‘Perfect’ with Topic and ‘Look At Us Now’ with Lost Kings and ASAP Ferg.
The blonde beauty has also penned her debut tome, ‘Finding Your Harmony’, which will see Ally share her personal highs and lows throughout her music career.
Meanwhile, Ally previously revealed she had planned on pushing another single as her debut solo single instead of ‘Low Key’, but she just knew it was “the one”.
She recalled: “It was a pretty magical moment where I felt, ‘this is it, I found her. I found the one!
“I was prepared with another single, so we were almost ready to hit the go button on that but… we couldn’t get it perfect.”
The song was co-written by the likes of John Ryan, Teddy Geiger, and Julian Bunetta, and Ally was impressed from her first listen.
She said: “My manager calls me and he’s like, ‘Ally, oh my gosh, I found this record. I just listened to it and it’s incredible. All these amazing songwriters are a part of it. John Ryan, Julian Bunetta, Ian Kirkpatrick, Teddy Geiger. You need to hear it and if we can get it for you, it’s going to be your single.’
“I was like, ‘oh my gosh, that’s amazing, let me hear it.’ So he played it for me the next day and as soon as I got done with the first listen I was like, ‘wow.'”
And it was a relief for Ally as she had spent “months” in the studio trying to come up with the right song.
She added: “We all really just love (the song) and it feels like me, and that’s what matters.”

“One of my inspirations this time around was those artists that recorded full length albums – not just songs. While the industry is moving toward singles, Slipknot wanted to make an album experience, front to back.”
Percussionist Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan added: “These days the art we are making comes with the highest reward, because it’s taken the most time.
“Almost four years to create this emotion and temperature, and the reward now is nothing short of salvation.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Ronson was “nervous” about his divorce as inspiration for his new album.
The 43-year-old star split from Joséphine de La Baume in 2017 and was hesitant about channeling his heartbreak into ‘Late Night Feelings’ because he doesn’t usually write “very personal” songs.
He said: “I was nervous to confront what I needed to do, and I didn’t know what it would sound like, I don’t really write from a very personal place, my songs are usually unified by a sonic process or something conceptual.
“There are so many talented people in LA. I couldn’t have made this record anywhere else.”
And now Mark – who is now dating Rebecca Schwartz – believes the emotional album is the best record he’s ever made and he believes his divorce has made him a better artist.
He told the Evening Standard’s ES magazine: “If you are going to go through something devastating, then at least you are going to get something to improve your art by.
“I am not saying everyone should go through hell to get their s**t better. But the music I am drawn to is this kind of music.
“This record is so far and beyond the rest of my records, that if everyone said it sucked, it would still be okay.”
The producer recently teamed up with Miley Cyrus on ‘Nothing Breaks Like a Heart’ but he was “shocked” that she agreed to the collaboration so quickly.
He said: “I knew she was in the zone. I was like, ”Okay, maybe this is my chance.’ So I texted her this little idea I had and she wrote right back.
“I was shocked. She literally replied, ‘Are you guys in Shangri La? I’ll come on Tuesday.’ ”

OHMYGOSSIP — Carly Rae Jepsen doesn’t want her new song to mirror the success of ‘Call Me Maybe’.
The 33-year-old singer doesn’t want any of the tracks on her new LP ‘Dedicated’ to have the same success as her breakout hit as she didn’t like the fame that came with it.
She said: “I know what it’s like to feel like you can’t leave your house because of ‘Call Me Maybe’. I’m not looking for another ‘Call Me Maybe.'”
And Carly admits fame was “paralysing” when she first started out in the industry.
She added to People magazine: “I remember first coming to Los Angeles and going to a sushi restaurant, and there were paparazzi outside. I thought, ‘I’m never coming back to this place again!’ There is something kind of paralysing after that, like, ‘Where do I go from here?’ The idea of celebrity for celebrity’s sake doesn’t attract me. I want to be remembered for my songs – I could care less if you remember my name or my face.”
Carly had previously revealed she wrote 200 songs for her new album.
She said: “I rarely write a song and am like, ‘It’s done!’ It’s sort of my passion and obsession in a way: late at night being like, ‘I found the lyric!’ I envy writers that are like, ‘I just wrote this and put it on the album.’ I’m like, ‘How do you sleep at night?!’ ”
And the brunette beauty has revealed her album is inspired by love, both her break-up with her ex, photographer David Kalani Larkins, and her relationship with her current musician boyfriend.
She added: “When you get to the place where you know somebody, and they’ve seen your absolute embarrassing worst and love you still, there’s a rush and a high. I try to create that with the music that I make: a feeling of a moment being so intense that you’re present in it and you’re nowhere else.”
