OHMYGOSSIP — Jess Glynne says “writing music” is “like therapy” for her.
The 29-year-old singer says songwriting helps her process her feelings and emotions and when she expresses herself in words she finds the whole process a healing one.
In an interview on BBC Radio 2, she said: “The moment I got in the studio and started making music everything changed … The reason I write music, it’s kind of like a therapy for me, it’s my way of expressing myself.”
Jess also opened up on her song ‘Thursday’, which has an underlying message of self-love, and revealed that she was determined to release the track as a single because it had a massive “impact” on her own life.
She explained: “I think for me, it had a mad impact on me, genuinely, and my personal life when I wrote that song. It was so honest and so raw and the only reason I wrote it this song is that I really wanted it to resonate, and with girls especially, considering the amount of pressure they put on themselves through social media.”
The ‘All I Am’ hitmaker also insisted that she feels “reassured” that she is able to talk about her own “insecurities” through her songs because the music industry can affect your confidence and mental health.
She said: “The industry that I work in though, it gives you a lot of insecurities and self-doubt, and it’s quite reassuring to know that somebody like myself for others have definitely been able to talk about it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Keane singer Tom Chaplin says the band are back stronger than ever now he has beaten his addiction problems.
The group – also comprised of Tim Rice-Oxley, Richard Hughes and Jesse Quin – disbanded in 2013, a year after releasing their fourth studio LP ‘Strangeland’.
At the beginning of 2019, the group decided to reunite and frontman Tom insists they needed that time apart because he hadn’t fully overcome his addiction to cocaine, a problem he first went to rehab for in 2006.
Opening up on their split, Tom said: “It was probably mostly my fault. Back in 2012/13 I wanted to do something else with my life for a bit.
“I felt creatively I wanted to write and needed space and time to do that. The other thing was, unconsciously, I needed time to finish off my addictive behaviour.”
Keyboard player Tim also revealed that things were made even tougher during that dark period for the band by his separation from his wife Jayne in 2012 after seven years of marriage.
Tim told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “To suddenly have those two things at the same time disappearing I suppose made it a difficult few years.”
Keane will release their comeback album ‘Cause and Effect’ later this year and Tom insists this time round they are not going to be so self-deprecating about their talents as a band and be more confident about their place in the music business.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column, Tom said: “We live in a bubble of self-deprecation and over the years we probably haven’t done ourselves proud by slagging ourselves off.”
Drummer Richard jokingly interjected: “You’re doing it now Tom, you’re mentioning it, we said we weren’t going to talk about not talking about it. I made a fines box, there’s a quid in it.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Johnny Marr is “not worried” about the backlash against his former bandmate Morrissey’s political beliefs affecting the legacy of The Smiths.
Morrissey’s albums have been withdrawn from sale at Cardiff’s Spillers Records, the world’s oldest record shop, due to his support for the far-right political party For Britain and posters advertising his new solo LP ‘California Son’ were stopped from being displayed by British commuter train service Merseyrail.
The 60-year-old singer even performed on US TV on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ whilst wearing a badge with party’s trident logo sparking a huge wave of criticism of him.
Johnny, 55, has been watching the controversy unfold but he insists Morrissey’s actions will not stop people from listening to the incredible music they made together in The Smiths in the 1980s.
In an interview with NME, the guitarist said: “I don’t think you can change history. I’ve said that before. I’m not worried. It’s got nothing to do with my world or my life. The songs are out there for people to judge, relate to and hear. I think that’s all going to be forgotten in a few weeks, as these things inevitably are – for better or worse. It’s always been that way. I understand the issue, but I’m used to stuff coming and going. I don’t worry about people missing out on the culture. That would be like saying to a teenage me, ‘Are you worried about you and your mates missing out on The Velvet Underground?’ That was never going to happen. I know the way things go. Things come and go.”
Johnny isn’t focusing his past glories and has revealed that he will start work on his fourth studio album – the follow-up to 2018’s ‘Call the Comet’ – at the end of the year.
The ‘How Soon Is Now?’ hitmaker said: “I’ve got another single coming in about six weeks or so that I’ve finished. That’s a bit more psychedelic guitar. Then I’m going to finish off the touring and get into some new stuff at the end of the year which is pretty exciting. I’ve got a new solo album coming, and I’m also hoping to get in the studio with Maxine Peake again.”
Morrissey compared Merseyrail’s decision to remove posters promoting his new album following a customer complaint to akin to the “Third Reich”, the totalitarian state that Germany became under the control of the Nazis.
He said: “It’s very Third Reich, isn’t it? And it proves how only the feelings of the most narrow-minded can be considered within the British Arts. We are not free to debate, and this in itself is the ultimate rejection of diversity … I am afraid we are living through The Age of Stupid, and we must pray that it passes soon. I’m only surprised that Mary Whitehouse isn’t on the ten pound note. But, no, I’m not about to go into combat with Mersey Rail … could life get any more mediocre?”

OHMYGOSSIP — Miley Cyrus is promoting her latest release with branded condoms.
The 26-year-old star has just released her new EP, ‘She Is Coming’ and a purchase of one of her $20 branded condoms, includes a digital download of her new music.
The condoms come in a black wrapper with “She is coming” and “1-833-SHE-IS-MC” written on the outside in white.
“1-833-SHE-IS-MC” is also printed on T-shirts and sweatshirts on Miley’s website.
The new EP includes collaborations with Ghostface Killah and Swae Lee as well as ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ star RuPaul.
In the track ‘Mother’s Daughter’, Miley sings about the impact her mom Tish has had on her career, whilst in another song ‘D.R.E.A.M.’ – which stands for Drugs Rule Everything Around Me – she references her party lifestyle, as Wu Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah raps about drugs.
In ‘Unholy’, she claims people view her as “obscene”, singing: “You hate me, you love me, you just wanna touch me.”
Miley took to social media to announce the news, writing: “SHE IS COMING out everywhere now ! #SheIsComing (sic)”
And she later revealed this was the “first of three drops” as she promised there would be more music on the way.
She added: “This is the 1st of 3 drops! 6 songs , 3 EP’s ! SHE IS COMING / HERE / EVERYTHING all to make up 1 album #SHEISMILEYCYRUS next 2 drops to be announced ! (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Anderson .Paak wanted his wife to be proud of his new album.
The super producer, singer and rapper released his fourth LP ‘Ventura’ – which features Dr. Dre as an executive producer – in April, and he admitted while he didn’t set out with a theme in mind, he knew the record to make people feel “good”.
He told Music Week: “I wanted to do something that just feels so good, [something that’s] not rocket science. Naturally there’s going to be some saucy topics and stuff, but it’s going to be smooth sailings…
“I’ve been married for going on ten years now. And I wanted something that she can feel proud of, and that’s filled with dedication, you know – like a love letter.”
The 33-year-old multi instrumentalist – who plays guitar, bass, piano and drums – admitted his raw honesty on the album sometimes makes him “cringe inside”, but he’s happy with how relatable the collection is.
He added: “So this record kind of irks me and made me cringe inside, but I felt like, you know what, that’s what the last record [Oxnard] was too: it was me opening up and being like, okay, let’s try something different.
“Do something about like, what are you really going through? Saying, well s**t, I’m trying to make my relationship entertaining, you know?
“I’m trying to make it sexy. Well, f**k it: let’s do a song about that. And then realising, oh s**t, a lot of people can relate to that.”
Despite the record’s quick success – it was Paak’s first top 10 LP to date, peaking at number four in the US Billboard 200 – festival season means he hasn’t had a chance to let it sink in.
He said: “I haven’t even really gotten to reflect on [‘Ventura’] too much because I’ve been boggled with this Coachella madness, but I feel good. I feel a sense of peace. Uh, yeah – I feel peaceful.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Duetting with Taylor Swift “solidified” Alessia Cara’s belief that she was born to be a performer.
The 22-year-old singer was invited by Taylor, 29, to join her on stage for a duet of ‘Here’ during Taylor’s ‘1989 World Tour’ in 2015 and Alessia was thrilled to perform in front of 55,000 fans.
She told HotPress magazine: “It was the first time I’d been introduced to so many people in one place. If anything it solidified my belief that this is what I want to do with my life.”
Alessia also revealed that winning the Best New Artist gong at the 2018 Grammy Awards was “insane”.
She said: “It’s fairly insane to work for something and then have it happen very quickly and be confused about where you are at. I definitely did have my head screwed on, which I’m grateful for.”
Alessia released her album ‘The Pains Of Growing’ in 2018 and while the record is deeply personal, she tries to keep her private life out of the public eye.
She said: “I get very personal in my songs. I almost forget people are going to hear them. Then a few days before the album comes out, I’m like… ‘wait a minute!’. That said, I do keep part of myself to myself.”
Alessia is currently on tour with Shawn Mendes and she compared the touring experience to high school.
She said: “My best friend is travelling with me. Shawn is around my age, and so is his best friend. In a way it’s like a big school tour.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes broke down in tears as he thanked fans for “saving his life” during an epic career-spanning headline set at All Points East on Friday (31.05.19).
The Sheffield rockers – who had curated the high energy genre-hopping line-up, featuring the likes of Run The Jewels, Yonaka, Nothing But Thieves, While She Sleeps and Architects – took fans on an emotional ride through their 15-year career with a 20-song set at the festival at London’s Victoria Park.
Oli and co kicked off with ‘Mantra’, the Grammy-nominated single from their latest LP ‘amo’ – a complete departure from their heavier roots – as eerie masked performers blasted smoke into the crowd and the frontman invited fans to join them on a “spiritual journey”.
Five songs in, and it was time for the first special guest of the night, Cradle of Filth’s Dani Filth, who emerged in his signature horror goth make-up, pushing a supermarket trolley, before joining Oli to perform the album’s second single ‘wonderful life’.
Fans – who were given the chance to suggest their own setlist for the performance on social media – were then treated to a major throwback with ‘Diamonds Aren’t Forever’ from 2008’s ear-shattering ‘Suicide Season’, which, from the first lyric, set off multiple circle pits, as the band paid homage to their beginnings with the deafening anthem.
The set also saw BMTH dust off ‘The Sadness Will Never End’ to honour Architects’ Tom Searle – who sadly passed away in 2016 – with the metalcore titans’ frontman Sam Carter joining Bring Me The Horizon for the first performance of the screamo classic since September 2016.
The five-piece then performed a crowd-led acoustic version of ‘Sleepwalking’ – which was penned after Oli spent time in rehab for Ketamine addiction for 2013’s mellower ‘Sempiternal’ – and the 32-year-old rocker opened up to the audience about how hearing how they have been helped by their music is “the most addictive feeling in the world”.
He shared: “I was going through the hardest s*** in my life and I had all these people coming up to me going, ‘I know exactly how you feel, I feel exactly the same way. And what you are saying on those songs, it helps me.’
“And that is the most addictive feeling in the fucking world, I’ll tell you that.”
The ‘Drown’ hitmaker said that he wants to make as many people “feel OK” through their music as possible, if only in that very “minute”, and admitted their fans don’t “realise” just how much they have saved him.
He said: “I don’t want to be the biggest band in The f***ing world, I couldn’t give a f***. But I want to make as many people in this world feel OK, even if it’s just for a f***ing minute.”
He also vowed to always “tell the truth” through their lyrics; no matter how “humiliating or cheesy” they come across.
Oli continued: “We are always going to tell you the truth. We are always going to do our own thing no matter how humiliating, no matter how f***ing cheesy.
“We appreciate it so f***ing much, you don’t realise how much it helps our band and how f***ing much you saved my life.”
The emotional singer – who had bloodshot contact lenses in – struggled to hold back his tears as he introduced ‘Sleepwalking’.
He declared: “This second song is a song that wrote itself, it’s called ‘Sleepwalking.'”
Earlier in the day, Oli surprised festival-goers as he jumped on stage with fellow Sheffield outfit While She Sleeps to perform his line from their collaboration ‘Silence Speaks’ in a blink-and-you-miss-it moment.
All Points East continues with Mumford and Sons and Bon Iver headlining on Saturday (01.06.19) and Sunday (02.06.19) respectively.

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher thinks social media “warps you”.
The 46-year-old singer is known for making outspoken comments on Twitter – but Liam has admitted that the platform can be detrimental to “your head”.
Speaking to Q Magazine, Liam – who has kids Molly, 22, Lennon, 19, Gene, 17, and Gemma, six – explained: “Social media is really bad for your head.
“I know it sounds harsh, but I’d ban young kids from using it. It warps you. They’ll all reject it anyway in the future and it’ll just be us silly old ***** on it.”
Liam – who released his debut solo album, ‘As You Were’, in 2017 – is currently preparing for the release of his second album.
And Charlie Lightening – who helmed Liam’s ‘Chinatown’ video and worked with his former group Beady Eye – recently teased details of his new material, revealing the upcoming release could have the same impact as Oasis’ sophomore record, ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’.
He said: “It’s a continuation of ‘As You Were’. If you look at ‘Definitely Maybe’ and ‘(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?’, one’s the more punkier one and one’s the bigger one, you know what I mean?
“That’s progression. It’s someone in the prime of it all. People aren’t gonna be disappointed with it. I think it’s gonna blow people away.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lopez regrets taking herself so seriously during her younger years.
The 49-year-old star – who released her debut album, ‘On the 6’, in 1999 – has revealed that if she had the chance to advise her younger self, she’d urge her to adopt a more relaxed approach to her career.
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, Jennifer shared: “When you’re young, you’re just so, like, you think you know everything.
“When my first album came out … I just thought that I had it all figured out.”
But the chart-topping star – who has balanced her music career with acting – says she’s become wiser as time has passed by.
Jennifer reflected: “You don’t realise until you’re in your 30s that you know nothing.
“Then in your 40s, you start kind of figuring it all out. And then when you’re 50, you’re just like, ‘I’m just me and it’s good.’ It’s great.”
The singer is set to embark on her It’s My Party tour later this month and she’s teased what fans can expect from the upcoming shows.
She said: “I want to create a different atmosphere than normal.
“I want it to be interactive, I want to share this moment [with fans]. We’ve been talking a lot about what this tour should be – what it means and how special it is, and how special this time in my life is.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Payne credits One Direction’s success to “dumb luck”.
The 25-year-old star shot to fame in 2010 after the band – comprised of Liam, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson – was formed on Simon Cowell’s TV show ‘The X Factor’ and Liam says their achievements can never be recreated.
He told Men’s Health Australia: “It literally was the perfect storm. There were so many scenarios that had to fall into line for that to happen. It’s not something that can easily be recreated or probably ever will be because of the way the Internet was kicking off, the way ‘The X Factor’ kicked off. I just think it was just dumb luck.”
Liam recently admitted that the music industry has vastly changed since One Direction went on an indefinite hiatus in 2016 so that the members could focus on their solo careers.
He told Esquire Middle East: “The way that the industry kind of works now is kind of a difficult one because of the way albums are and the introduction of Spotify. When I was in the band, Spotify wasn’t really a thing for us, we didn’t really care. We used to sell a lot of albums and physical copies, so it was different for us. As I got more into the solo stuff it was a kind of, like, a bit f**king confusing.”
And he admitted that One Direction’s music is “not something that I would listen to”.
He said: “When we did the band stuff it was very–not exactly scripted–but let’s just say you kind of knew your audience very well. We’d usually sell a tour out before we’d even done an album. And then they [the record producers] would go: ‘Right, you’re doing stadiums’. And then you’d go: ‘Okay, so we need longer choruses–the kind of songs that people can chant in a stadium’. You had to kind of write around the tour.”
“It’s a very backwards way to do it, obviously people don’t really tend to write like that. But we just had no time, so it was like: ‘Quick! We need another hit and another and another!’ It was actually easier to write in that scenario because there were so many hoops you had to jump through. It wouldn’t necessarily be my choice of music now–it wasn’t something that I would listen to–but I just knew how to make it, if that makes sense?”

OHMYGOSSIP — Lindsay Lohan is “hard at work” on new music.
The ‘Mean Girls’ actress hasn’t released a song since her 2008 single ‘Bossy’ but she’s now told fans she’s preparing to return to her singing career and has been busy in the recording studio.
On Friday (31.05.19), the 32-year-old star shared a photo of herself in a dimly lit studio booth and simply captioned the Instagram post with a headphones emoji.
The following day, she shared another post, seemingly from the same studio, in which she was singing into a mic.
This one was again captioned with emojis but this time of music notes and a microphone.
Lindsay then confirmed she was busy recording new songs by sharing a news report featuring the studio speculation on her Twitter account and commenting: “Hard At Work (sic)”.
A few months ago, the ‘Freaky Friday’ star – who previously released two albums, ‘Speak’ and ‘A Little More Personal (Raw)’, in 2004 and 2005 respectively – admitted she was hoping to work with her younger sister Aliana Lohan on new music, if her MTV show ‘Lindsay’s Lohan Beach Club’, which saw her revive ‘Bossy’, gets a second season.
She: “My sister is coming out with her record and I want to support her in that.
“We’ve talked about writing together and maybe doing something together if we have season two (of ‘Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club’), or just in general.”
Lindsay previously said she would consider moving back to New York if she ever took up music again.
Asked if she’d move back to the Big Apple, she said: “For music, maybe.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Bring Me The Horizon hope their All Points East headline show will make music festivals more diverse.
The ‘Drown’ rockers curated the lineup for their performance at the top of the bill on Friday night (31.05.19) at London’s Victoria Park, and they deliberately included a host of female artists like Girli, Tillie and Alice Glass in a bid to break down barriers in the industry.
Frontman Oli Sykes told the Daily Star newspaper: “For me it’s about bringing people together, and not conforming to a scene, we just want to be for people that like live music.
“There’s not many female acts in that ‘rock band’ world, they don’t allow that, so we want to do something important, something that will mean more than being just another sick line-up.”
The group also made a point of representing a range of genres on the lineup, and they are hoping it will convince other promoters and festivals to explore new sounds.
Oli said: “Getting groups like Run The Jewels is cool as we want people to say: ‘That is such a sick lineup’ instead of getting bands we think sound like us.”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Jonas Brothers want to survive in the modern music industry.
The group – made up of siblings Joe, 29, Kevin, 31, and 26-year-old Nick – reunited this year after going on hiatus in 2013, and they have stressed the importance of updating their process and sound, rather than shying away from the way the business has changed since releasing their last album ‘Lines, Vines and Trying Times’ in 2009.
Nick told The Guardian: “[We needed to reflect] the ever-changing landscape of the way music is released and how people consume it.
“We were conscious that there would always be a new wave of entertainers you can feel you’re in competition with but rather than be frustrated with how quickly things change, we’ve chosen to lean into it.”
The ‘Sucker’ band are set to release their fifth record ‘Happiness Begins’ next week, and the trio were delighted to get to work with the likes of producer Greg Kurstin (Adele, Sir Paul McCartney) and songwriter Max Martin (Backstreet Boys, Katy Perry) after worrying that such big, credible names wouldn’t want to collaborate.
Joe said: “Before, when it was slowing down, we were nervous to reach out to big producers and writers, thinking they would say no to working with us.”
Meanwhile, the star also admitted he wanted to prove he could succeed without his brothers when he released his debut solo album ‘Fastlife’ in 2011.
He explained: “I wanted to at least get that personal win of being able to do something on my own, which I carried for many years, just thinking: ‘I can’t do anything without these guys.’ ”

OHMYGOSSIP — The Strokes and Charli XCX’s Governors Ball sets were cancelled due to thunderstorms.
The severe weather forecast meant the final day of the festival in New York was postponed until 6.30pm local time on Sunday (02.06.19), and although music did eventually get under way, the storms hit the site and the event was cancelled at around 9.30pm with punters told to leave immediately by the nearest exits.
It meant the ‘Late Nite’ hitmakers weren’t able to perform, while fellow headliner SZA also couldn’t play her set at the top of the bill.
Charli was impacted earlier in the day, when the delayed star meant the ‘Break The Rules’ hitmaker – along with the likes of SOB X RBE and Soccer Mommy – wasn’t able to play.
However, the 26-year-old star treated her fans to a last minute performance at Le Poisson Rouge, and the intimate club show immediately sold out after the announcement on Twitter.
Charli wrote: “My Gov Ball performance got cancelled due to potential storms so I’m putting on a last minute show tonight in Manhattan.”
When a fan suggested the event – which cost $15 a ticket – should have been free to Governor Ball punters, the musician agreed but said it couldn’t be done.
She replied: “I tried to make it that way but got told it wasn’t possible.”
Organisers have confirmed refunds within 21 days for all fans affected by the cancellation, which means customers with Sunday day tickets will get all their money back, while those with a three-day weekend pass will likely get a third back.
In a statement, the festival reps said: “After close consultation with NYC officials and law enforcement, it was deemed necessary to evacuate the site and cancel the Sunday evening of Gov Ball 2019 for the safety of our festival goers, artists, and crew. The safety of everyone always comes first.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Bon Iver debuted two massive new songs on the final night of All Points East.
The ‘Blood Bank’ band’s frontman Justin Vernon performed a headline set on Sunday night (02.06.19) at London’s Victoria Park, and he treated fans to an eclectic journey through his back catalogue from experimental electronic sounds to soothing folk.
After a set featuring old favourites like ‘Woods’, ‘Skinny Love’ and final song ‘Holocene’, the 38-year-old musician also premiered two brand new music videos featuring a pair of tracks – ‘Hey Ma’ and ‘U’ – from Bon Iver’s upcoming fourth album.
The LP will be the group’s first since 2016’s ’22, A Million’, which debuted at number two in the charts in both the UK and US.
The previously unseen visuals were illustrated by long-time collaborator Eric Carson and featured vocals by Moses Sumney.
During the set, Vernon urged the crowd to “make sure you spread love everywhere you can”.
Elsewhere on the final day, John Grand took to the East Stage just before the final act, as he performed a career-spanning theatrical set which concluded with the title track from his debut album ‘Queen of Denmark’.
Earlier in the day, singer songwriter Charlie Cunningham kicked off proceedings as he played some tunes from his upcoming record ‘Permanent Way’.
He told the audience: “Thanks! It’s definitely intimidating knowing the artists that are going to be on this stage after us.”
Over the two weekends of the festival, the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Bring Me The Horizon, Mumford & Sons, The Strokes and Christine & The Queens also played headline sets in the event’s successful second year.

OHMYGOSSIP — Lionel Richie will release ‘Hello From Las Vegas’ on August 23.
The iconic singer is set to take fans on a journey through his stunning five decades’s as a musician with the new live album recorded in Sin City at the Zappos Theatre at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, and it is available now to pre-order.
The diverse and exciting set list will span the 69-year-old star’s career to date, including his solo hits – ‘All Night Long’, ‘Hello’ and ‘Dancing On The Ceiling’ – alongside tunes like ‘Three Times A Lady’ and ‘Easy’ from his time with The Commodores.
Also featured on the live LP is a soulful rendition of his 1985 charity single ‘We Are the World’, which he co-wrote with Michael Jackson for USA For Africa.
As well as his upcoming North American tour – which kicked off on May 28 at Smart Financial Centre in Sugar Land, Texas – Lionel will also be heading to the UK this summer.
He will join ‘Isn’t She Lovely’ legend Stevie Wonder as his very special guest at British Summer Time in London’s Hyde Park on July 6.
Meanwhile, Lionel recently revealed his glittering career could have taken a very different turn as he considered becoming an Episcopal priest before he found fame with The Commodores.
He previously said: “I left my mom and dad’s house to go to university, and I met my Commodore friends there. At the time I was seriously considering being an Episcopal priest.”
However, his plan to become a man of the cloth soon became a distant dream when he heard the girls screaming for him in his first show with the group.
He added: “[But] the first time I played with the Commodores, a group of girls screamed. Up until that moment no one, no girl, had ever screamed at me. I didn’t play basketball, football, baseball. I played on the tennis team, and no girl ever screamed at the tennis court. It was right after those girls screamed, I remembered saying to myself, ‘I don’t think I’m gonna be priest material.’ ”
