OHMYGOSSIP — Radiohead are releasing previously unheard music recorded during the making of their album ‘OK Computer’ after hackers gained access to the material and demanded a ransom.
The British rock band are putting out 18 hours of “not very interesting” music created when they were making their seminal 1997 LP on their Bandcamp page after frontman Thom Yorke’s MiniDisc archive was hacked and he was held to ransom for $150,000 (£118,000).
The group have given fans the chance to buy the music for $18 or £18 for the next 18 days to find out whether they “should have paid that ransom” and are giving all proceeds to climate change campaign group Extinction Rebellion.
In a statement, guitarist Jonny Greenwood said: “We got hacked last week – someone stole Thom’s minidisk archive from around the time of ‘OK Computer’, and reportedly demanded $150,000 on threat of releasing it.
“So instead of complaining – much – or ignoring it, we’re releasing all 18 hours on Bandcamp in aid of Extinction Rebellion.
“Just for the next 18 days. So for £18 you can find out if we should have paid that ransom.
“Never intended for public consumption (though some clips did reach the cassette in the ‘OK Computer’ reissue) it’s only tangentially interesting. And very, very long. Not a phone download.”
A message from Yorke on Radiohead’s Bandcamp page said: “We’ve been hacked. My archived mini discs from 1995-1998(?). It’s not v interesting, there’s a lot of it. If you want it, you can buy the whole lot here. 18 minidisks for £18. The proceeds will go to Extinction Rebellion. As it’s out there, it may as well be out there. Until we all get bored and move on.”
‘OK Computer’ contained the acclaimed singles ‘No Surprises’, ‘Karma Police’ and ‘Paranoid Android’ and went on to win the Best Alternative Music Album Grammy Award in 1998.

OHMYGOSSIP — Superproducer Greg Kurstin is set to record a Van Halen covers album with his act The Bird & The Bee.
The indie pop duo – which also consists of Inara George – has announced the release of their new record ‘Interpreting the Masters Volume 2: A Tribute to Van Halen’ set for release on August 2 alongside a 15-date North American tour.
The new album will feature the biggest hits from 1974 until 1985 – when Van Halen consisted of Eddie Van Halen, Eddie’s brother, drummer Alex Van Halen, vocalist David Lee Roth and bassist Michael Anthony.
The duo have also debuted a re-imagining of 1987 hit ‘Ain’t Talking ‘Bout Love’ which appears on the rockers’ self-titled album.
The 2019 trek will kick off at the John Anson Ford Amphitheater in Los Angeles on August 2 with a special one-off performance featuring Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl on drums and Beck guitarist Justin Meldal-Johnsen on bass.
In a statement, Kurstin said: “When I want to listen to hard rock music there’s still nothing that hits me like. Every time I hear them it takes me back to when I first found them on the radio, and it felt so dangerous to me – like they were from a whole other world.
“It would be so great if people who would never usually listen to Van Halen heard this record, and then ended up falling in love with them too.”
George added of the band: “I remember being 10 years old and seeing their videos and feeling both excited and totally terrified – I responded to them in this very visceral way.”
Kurstin has just finished working with Liam Gallagher on his second solo LP ‘Why Me? Why Now?’ and he has previously worked with artists such as Adele, Sir Paul McCartney, Pink, Sia and Years and Years.

OHMYGOSSIP — Katy Perry and Taylor Swift have sparked speculation they are set to release a collaboration.
The ‘Chained to the Rhythm’ hitmaker famously fell out with her fellow pop star over their dancers and touring crew a number of years ago, but they have since buried the hatchet, and Taylor recently added Katy’s new track, ‘Never Really Over’, to her ‘ME!’ Apple Playlist.
Now KatyCats and Swifties – their respective fanbases – are predicting that the famous pair are plotting a duet, as Katy posted a plate of cookies with ‘Peace At Last’ iced around the plate with Taylor tagged on Instagram.
The 34-year-old singer captioned the snap of the baked goods: “feels good @taylorswift (sic).”
She also set her location as “Let’s Be Friends”, a potential song title, and Taylor, 29, commented with 13 pink love heart emojis, her lucky number.
Back in 2018, Katy sent Taylor an actual olive branch as a call to end their long running feud.
The duo had been at loggerheads since 2014 when Taylor accused Katy of sabotaging her ‘Red Tour’ by stealing three of her backing dancers.
In the video posted to her social media account, Taylor could be heard off-camera saying: “So I just got to my dressing room and found this actual olive branch. This means so much to me.”
Katy had previously insisted she has a lot of love for the singer.
She said: “I mean, I love her, I always have. We’ve had our differences but I just continue to say, ‘God bless her on her journey.’ … I’m ready to let it go. Absolutely, 100 percent. I forgive her, and I’m sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her, and I think it’s actually … I think it’s time … I love her and I want the best for her, and I think she’s a fantastic songwriter. I think that if we both, her and I, can be representatives of strong women that come together despite their differences, I think the whole world is going to go, like, ‘Yeah, we can do this.'”

OHMYGOSSIP — Adam Lambert has “learned a lot” from fronting Queen.
The 37-year-old star has spent eight years leading the legendary rock band – in place of legendary late singer Freddie Mercury – and he revealed his time with the group has helped inspire his own work as a solo artist as he’s been working on new album ‘Velvet’.
He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “It does give me a perspective of what a good song is and why it works. I’ve learned a lot from singing those Queen songs for audiences.
“You go, ‘OK, this is a good chorus, this is a good hook, this is a good message’. I suppose that’s one of the things that inspired a lot of my new songs.”
Adam released his latest single ‘New Eyes’ last month, and he added he hopes Freddie – who died in 1991 from bronchial pneumonia resulting from AIDS at the age of 45 – would have been a fan of his music.
He said: “I would hope that he would like some of it. I feel like one of my new songs, ‘Super Power’, is like a second cousin to ‘Another One Bites The Dust’, it has a little bit of the same DNA.
“I didn’t set out to emulate any of Queen’s songs specifically, but I thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be nice to have an album of music that a Queen fan can wrap their ears around.’ ”
Meanwhile, the band’s drummer Roger Taylor previously said Adam joining the group was like “fate unfolding”.
He explained: “We thought it was all over. And I think [Brian May] and I, well we kinda thought that was the end of that chapter. And everything that’s happened, especially since we met Adam has just been fate unfolding.”

The 60-year-old superstar shared a “portrait of a lady” which displays a woman’s breasts with a rose through one nipple on Instagram on Tuesday (11.06.19), just days before she releases her new record on Friday (14.06.19).
Alongside the nude artwork, the singer wrote: “Portrait of A Lady……………Madame X. Album drops June 14th #madamex (sic)”
Madonna also shared another picture of herself in a colourful designer gown, fishnets and her signature ‘X’ eye patch, and wrote: “Mother of dragons………….. Madame X Album drops June 14th X #madamex (sic)”
Meanwhile, the ‘Like a Virgin’ hitmaker is set to appear at a iHeartRadio ICONS event to discuss the record.
The Queen of Pop will celebrate her hotly-anticipated follow-up to 2015’s ‘Rebel Heart’ on June 20 at an event in New York, where she will walk her fans through the songs at a special playback with radio stars Paul ‘Cubby’ Bryant and Christine Nagy.
The event will be live-streamed on LiveXLive from 6.30pm (ET) and 11pm (BST).
‘Madame X’ features recently released singles ‘Medellin’, ‘I Rise’, ‘Crave’ with Swae Lee, ‘Future’ with Quavo and ‘Dark Ballet’.
Madonna – who will kick off her extensive ‘Madame X’ world tour in September – recently explained that ‘I Rise’ was written for “all marginalised people” as she was announced as a performer at Pride Island as part of World Pride in New York City on June 30.
She said: “I wrote ‘I Rise’ as a way of giving a voice to all marginalised people who feel they don’t have the opportunity to speak their mind.
“This year is the 50th anniversary of Pride and I hope this song encourages all individuals to be who they are, to speak their minds and to love themselves.”
The ‘Material Girl’ singer was recently honoured with the Advocate for Change award at the 2019 GLAAD Media Awards.
She said in her speech: “Fighting for all marginalised people was a duty and an honour I could not turn my back on, nor will I ever.”

The 51-year-old country music superstar – who is married to Nicole Kidman – took to Twitter to congratulate the 26-year-old pop star on her extremely catchy new song.
Referencing the chorus, he wrote: “Back up back up back up

In the track, Miley sings about the impact her mom Tish has had on her career, whilst in another song ‘D.R.E.A.M.’ – which stands for Drugs Rule Everything Around Me – she references her party lifestyle, as Wu Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah raps about drugs.
In ‘Unholy’, she claims people view her as “obscene”, singing: “You hate me, you love me, you just wanna touch me.”
Elsewhere, ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ star RuPaul features on ‘Cattitude’ and ‘Party Up the Street’ has Swae Lee and Mike WiLL Made-It on it.
The ‘Younger Now’ hitmaker – who is married to actor Liam Hemsworth – previously revealed the mini-album is the “first of three drops” as she promised there would be more music on the way.

OHMYGOSSIP — Maren Morris feels women in country music are too often “stereotyped” as innocent and “virginal”.
The Grammy-winner – who is married to fellow country star Ryan Hurd – thinks it’s naive that artists in the genre are often put into “religious” or “virginal conservative” boxes and she has called on her peers to join her in releasing “sexy” songs to prove they can be just as “sexual” as pop stars.
She said: “The stereotype is you’ve either got to be this religious, virginal conservative, or the wronged woman burning the house down.
“People in pop and R&B are confident and sexy and sexual, and they’re celebrating it – so why don’t we, in country, write these songs?”
The ‘The Middle’ hitmaker’s recent single ‘Make Out With Me’ is about making love to her husband.
She smiled: “It’s just a really fun, sexy song about wanting to jump someone’s bones.
“Real life stuff!”
The feminist star also opened up about the lack of “popular” female artists getting airplay on the radio and how she named her album ‘GIRL’ to make a stand.
She added to the BBC: “As a woman in this industry, I wish that radio would come into this century and honour the the songs that are actually popular.
“I was looking at the country radio chart in the US and, for the first time in 20 years, there were no women in the top 30.
“Then I took a closer look at all the dudes and the titles of their songs, and the word ‘girl’ was used in more songs than there were actual girls on the chart.
“So I was like, ‘I’m gonna name this album, ‘GIRL’; and [the song] ‘GIRL’ is going to be my first single.’ “Just to put a middle finger up to that statistic.
“And ironically, in the States, on the country chart, ‘GIRL’ has been my fastest-rising single.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher thinks his brother Noel Gallagher needs to take more breaks so his fans don’t get fed up with him.
The 46-year-old rocker – who recently released the documentary ‘As It Was’ about his comeback and launch of his solo career with his 2017 debut solo LP ‘As You Were’ – feels it’s important to give fans a gap so he can be “missed” and so they don’t get bored of him.
And Liam, who will take some time off before working on anymore new material, admitted he thinks that is where his 52-year-old sibling is going wrong.
Speaking on the Dave Berry Breakfast Show on Absolute Radio, he said: “I think you’ve got to keep dipping in and dipping out haven’t you.
“Otherwise people are going to get very sick of you very quickly. It don’t matter who you are.
“Not like Radiohead do where they go away for 10 years and stuff. Maybe like a year or something and get out of people’s faces.”
He added: “You’ve got to go away and be missed.
“I think that’s what our kid’s problem is.
“And I’m not trying to slag Noel off.
“He just seems to be always there.
“I think he needs to go away for a little bit and come back and he’d make more of an impact.”
Whilst he wasn’t knocking his sibling’s success with his High Flying Birds, Liam – who will release his second album ‘Why Me? Why Not’ in September – backtracked a little, and threw a little dig at the Britpop group’s former guitarist – who Liam has been at loggerheads ever since a backstage fight between the pair at their show in Paris in 2009, which led to the demise of the ‘Wonderwall’ hitmakers – as he admitted it could be a “dangerous” move for him to go away as he’s got a “forgettable” face.
The ‘Live Forever’ singer – who often compares Noel to a potato – added: “Not that he’s not doing well, I just think … then again he’s one of them faces, he’s forgettable, you know what I mean? So it could be dangerous for him.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Bold’ rocker admitted that he can be “overcritical” of this vocal abilities.
He said: “I’m kind, hard-working. When I get into it I do like to do my graft, if you can call it a graft … I can be a little overcritical. I do give myself a hard time sometimes, especially on the singing front.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Dr. John completed a final album before his death.
The six-time Grammy Award-winning musician – who was born Malcolm John Rebennack – died of a heart attack aged 77 earlier this month, and guitarist Shane Theriot, who worked on the record with his pal, who he calls Mac, admits the late star knew “towards the end” it would be his last-ever album.
He said: “Towards the beginning, I don’t think Mac realised it would probably be his last record, but towards the end, I think he knew.
“It would break my heart because he would come to my house, and I knew he wasn’t feeling great, and Mac’s work ethic, he was old school; he grew up doing five sets a night.
“And so he told me on several occasions, he would say, ‘Whatever we gotta do, we gotta do it. We gotta get it done, Sha-zane. Whatever, we gotta do to finish this motherf***er, we gotta finish it.’ ”
After completing the album, Dr. John told Shane – who he nicknamed Sha-zane – he had “made the right choice”.
Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine, Shane added: “We sat and listened to everything twice.
“He was singing along and had a big grin on his face. Then he walked me out to my car, stared at me and said, ‘I’m glad. I made the right choice.’
“And then he hugged and kissed me on the cheek.”
The title and release date of the record are not yet known, but it is expected to include a mix of originals as well as some of his reworked classics.
Among the songs are ‘Old Time Religion’, a duet with Willie Nelson, as well as tunes with Aaron Neville and Rickie Lee Jones.
Shane added: “Mac got to hear it and live with it and make suggestions. This was one of his creations.”
Following his death, a tweet posted on the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame inductee’s official account read: “Towards the break of day June 6, iconic music legend Malcolm John Rebennack, Jr., known as Dr. John, passed away of a heart attack. The family thanks all whom shared his unique musical journey & requests privacy at this time. Memorial arrangements will be announced in due course. (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Mac Miller’s first posthumous music has been released.
The late rapper – who died from an overdose last September, aged just 26 – recorded a verse for The Free Nationals’ song ‘Time’, which also features the vocals of Kali Uchis.
In the song, Mac raps about the difficulties of being in an imperfect relationship and the lies couples tell one another.
At one point, he raps: “But don’t leave me, don’t leave me/ Because it feel too good to be easy (Yeah)/ It’s been a while, and I’m even different now.”
The Free Nationals – who are best known as Anderson .Paak’s backing band – appeared at a memorial concert in honour of the rapper last October.
Stars from the music world came out to honour the late rapper by performing covers of his much-loved songs at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, backed by The Free Nationals.
The ‘A Celebration of Life’ benefit, which also saw the likes of Donald Glover and Pharrell Williams pay tribute to the hip-hop star, was reported to have made around $350,000 for The Mac Miller Circles Fund – which was setup in memory of the ‘Come Back To Earth’ rapper to provide funding and resources to underprivileged youths desperate to explore the arts in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Speaking previously of the achievements of the organisation, Mac’s mother Karen Meyers said: “The support we’ve experienced is evident in this amazing lineup and is a testament to Malcolm’s incredible life.
“He was a caring, loving human with a smile that could light up the sky and a soul that was out to make the world a kinder place and the MMCF will continue to do just that.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Tove Lo thought her career was over when she had vocal surgery.
The 31-year-old singer had to have cysts removed from her vocal cords while he was the middle of releasing her second album ‘Lady Wood’ in 2016, and she admitted it was “a lot to go through”.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: “The doctor sat me down and asked me to hum to see if I still had a voice.
“If that couldn’t have happened I wouldn’t have had a voice, that was terrifying. It was frustrating and scary, a lot to go through in the middle of your career.”
However, the ‘Habits’ hitmaker has gone from strength to strength, and she is excited for the release of her upcoming fourth album ‘Sunshine Kitty’.
She added: “It’s a muscle and it takes time to build up, it’s been a very long process and journey back.
“But I feel in control of it now, and I feel very happy.”
Meanwhile, Tove is in a better place romantically at the moment, as she’s been with her New Zealander beau for two years now – but there are no plans for a family just yet.
The Swedish star told the Metro newspaper: “I’m not ready to settle down. I guess I’ve found the person, and he is the same age as me, but I feel we are children ourselves so we just can’t.
“Half of my friends have babies and mortgages, and the other half are too drunk to find their phones, and that’s kind of my friend group right now.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Steve Davis is set for Glastonbury Festival this year.
The snooker legend is set to release his first ever album in September after forming The Utopia Strong with Kavus Torabi and Coil’s Michael J York, and the trio will be performing at the iconic musical extravaganza later this month.
He’s quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: “The personal journey I’ve been on… with Kavus and Mike has been surreal.
“Probably more so than even the path that unfolded for me in snooker. That was pretty far out but this seems otherworldly.”
The 61-year-old star started his seemingly unlikely career as a DJ in 1996 when he front a weekly local radio show seven years after claiming his sixth world snooker title.
Steve and his bandmates unveiled debut single ‘Brainsurgeons 3’ – which clocks in at 10 minutes long – this week, ahead of their full LP later this year.
He said: “The band evolved from having had so much fun together and also sharing similar musical tastes.
“Mike was living in Glastonbury where Kavus and I DJ’d in 2017. We all hung out together during the festival and the Utopia Strong was born. “The name came later and I suppose reflects the fact that – once we’d jammed together and listened back to the improvising – the music felt pretty euphoric and otherworldly. It was very psychedelic but also strangely wonky.”
As well as playing the Crows Nest at Glastonbury on Jue 30, the trio will be at Supernormal Festival on August 2 and Hastings Blackmarket Bar on August 24.
A week before their self titled album comes out, The Utopia Strong will play at London Oslo on September 5.

OHMYGOSSIP — Siobhan Fahey was disappointed with Bananarama’s reunion.
The singer reunited with former bandmates Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward in 2017 – 29 years after first leaving the group – but she has claimed she wasn’t told the whole story about plans for their comeback.
She told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “I didn’t want to do it just for a British tour and I went back on the understanding that we were going to take it around the world and maybe do a new single.
“But it transpires that’s not what they wanted. They just wanted the British tour.”
Although the group released a new album ‘In Stereo’ back in April, Siobhan – who added that she “doubts” she’ll ever return again – admitted she wasn’t involved in the record.
She explained: “No. They had that in the can before we did the tour.”
Last month, Siobhan reunited with ex Shakespears Sister bandmate Marcella Detroit after reportedly settling their differences, leading to a UK tour and new single ‘All the Queen’s Horses’.
An insider said at the time: “It’s taken years to broker this truce and reunion between Siobhan and Marcella.
“They’re both such strong-willed women but they know they make some of their best music when working together. The rumours have been circulating for a while and finally they’re true.”
The pair’s 1992 hit ‘Stay’ remained at number one in the UK for eight consecutive weeks, but Siobhan – who founded the group in 1988 – axed Marcella from the band in 1993.
Marcella found out she had been booted out of the duo when Siobhan’s publisher read out an acceptance speech at the 1993 Ivor Novello Awards ceremony after Shakespears Sister’s second studio album ‘Hormonally Yours’ had won Best Contemporary Collection of Songs.

OHMYGOSSIP — Elvis Costello has mixed feelings about being awarded an OBE.
The 64-year-old musician was recently named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for his services to music, but he’s admitted to being surprised to have been handed the accolade.
Costello – who has previously been critical of British imperialism – wrote on his website: “I began my call by telling my Mam that the Prime Minister, Mrs. May, had put my name forward for an O.B.E.
“‘But she’s rubbish,’ Lillian cut in before I could complete the news. Well, that aside, I said, ‘Of course, I won’t be accepting the award’. I didn’t get much further with that statement either.
“I listened carefully to my mother’s argument that if something is deserved then one must be gracious in acceptance. So, as a good lad, who likes to do what will make his Mam most proud, I knew that I must put old doubts and enmities aside and muster what little grace I possess. (sic)”
Costello jokingly claimed that the honour proves that “nobody really listens to the words in songs”.
He shared: “It would be a lie to pretend that I was brought up to have a great sense of loyalty to the Crown, let alone notions of Empire. I used to think a change might come but when one considers the kind of mediocre entrepreneur who might be foisted upon us as a President, it’s enough to make the most hard-hearted ‘Republican’ long for an ermine stole, a sceptre and an orb.
“To be honest, I’m pretty tickled to receive this acknowledgement for my ‘Services To Music’, as it confirms my long held suspicion nobody really listens to the words in songs or the outcome might have been somewhat different. (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Courtney Love doubts she could launch a successful music career in the 21st century.
The 54-year-old singer – who was married to Kurt Cobain, who was the frontman of Nirvana before his death in 1994 – has admitted she’d struggle to establish herself in the current music landscape.
She confessed: “I don’t know that I could do it now. I don’t feel like the reward for being in a rock band is quite enough.”
Courtney said that without doing the “Ariana Grande thing”, she would find it tough to prosper in the modern-day music business.
Speaking to Interview Magazine, she recalled: “I remember once I was in the car with Kurt and I was like, ‘If it was 1968, what would you do for a living?’ He was like, ‘I’d be in a Sonics-like punk band’ – which made sense. I think I’d have opened a bar because I don’t think, in 1968, it would have made sense for a woman to be in a Sonics-like punk band.

OHMYGOSSIP — Liam Gallagher debuted his new song ‘Shockwave’ at an intimate gig at London’s Hackney Round Chapel on Wednesday night (05.06.19).
The former Oasis frontman – who had a banner with his signature saying “biblical” erected outside the church – treated fans to the first live performance of the lead single from his hotly-anticipated second solo album ‘Why Me? Why Not’ – the follow-up to 2017’s ‘As You Were’ – which is released on Friday (07.06.19).
The ‘Wall of Glass’ hitmaker belted out: “All your darkness has come back to you in time/Brace yourself well, it’s about to blow your mind.”
The 46-year-old rocker also sung Oasis song ‘Lyla’ from their sixth studio album ‘Don’t Believe the Truth’ for the first time since the band’s performance at V Festival in 2009.
Liam’s former bandmate and bitter sibling Noel Gallagher, 51, wasn’t very fond of the track, which he penned during the sessions for their 2002 LP ‘Heathen Chemistry’, at first, stating that it “isn’t even the fifth best track on the album”, but later confessed that he “didn’t realise how good it was until [we] played it live”.
Later on in the set, the ‘For What It’s Worth’ hitmaker dusted off the Britpop group’s song ‘Columbia’ from seminal LP ‘Definitely Maybe’, which was last performed by Liam with Beady Eye – the band he formed after Oasis split in 2009 after a backstage fight between the warring brothers, which led to Noel quitting the ‘Wonderwall’ band – at The Royal Albert Hall in 2013 for a tribute concert for late Charlatans drummer Jon Brookes.
The show marked the first time Oasis guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs had shared a stage with Liam since he quit the group in 1999.
Meanwhile, this evening (06.06.19) sees the premiere of Liam’s documentary ‘As It Was’, with a special performance being broadcast in cinemas across the UK and Ireland live from the Alexandra Palace Theatre in London.
The movie has been directed by Charlie Lightening – who helmed Liam’s ‘Chinatown’ video and worked with his former group Beady Eye – and will focus on Liam’s journey from “boredom, booze and legal battles” to major solo star with the release of his debut solo LP and subsequent sold-out global concerts.
According the film’s official synopsis ‘As It Was’ “tells the honest and emotional story of how one of the most electrifying rock ‘n’ roll frontmen went from the dizzying heights of his champagne supernova years in Oasis to living on the edge, ostracised and lost in the musical wilderness of booze, notoriety and bitter legal battles. Starting again alone, stripped bare and with nowhere to hide, Liam risks everything to make the greatest comeback of all time.”
‘As It Was’ will be released on June 7 via Altitude Film Distribution.
