OHMYGOSSIP — Bastille are working on a secret “cinematic” project as “a whole other band”.
Frontman Dan Smith’s first love was film and he has continued to drop references to his favourite flicks in their music over the years.
In 2017, the ‘Pompeii’ hitmakers contributed ‘World Gone Mad’ to the soundtrack of Netflix’s ‘Bright’ by ‘Suicide Squad’ helmer David Ayer, and there looks to be more film-related work in the pipeline for the British five-piece.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column, Dan said: “We have another project we are involved with, a whole other band, it’s very cinematic.”
The ‘Joy’ singer also revealed their aspiration to team up with a director for a big screen project in the future.
He added: “We are waiting for the right thing to come along.
“We would love to work with a director on something.
“But for now keep your eyes open for the other project.”
Speaking on realising his dream of combining his music and movie passion with ‘World Gone Mad’, Dan said “The idea of doing film and music together is an absolute dream.”
The 33-year-old star loved it because it was hassle-free and “one of the most satisfying experiences” of his career.
He added: “Often when you hand something in or send something off there’s a delay, and as a creative person it can be crushing if you don’t hear something back even within a day.
“And literally 10 minutes later, I got a call back and everyone was really into it and wanted it to be a single. It was one of the most satisfying experiences like that I’ve ever had.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Brian May has hailed Adam Lambert as a “true phenomenon” and slammed anyone who has suggested Queen should tour with a Freddie Mercury impersonator.
The former ‘American Idol’ star, Brian and drummer Roger Taylor are currently on ‘The Rhapsody Tour’ in North America, and the 71-year-old guitar legend has heaped praise on the 37-year-old singer, who he called a “modern marvel”, and admitted they wouldn’t be able to perform and carry on the legacy of Queen without him.
Alongside a concert snap of Adam before their San Jose concert on Monday (15.07.19), Brian wrote on Instagram: “And here is the Modern Marvel without whom, for sure, Queen would not be out here delivering at the top level. ADAM LAMBERT is only now beginning to be recognised by the greater public as the true phenomenon that he is. Gifted with a voice in a billion, for himself he is a passionate and unyielding perfectionist. Gifted to us, he is the reason that we are still alive as a functioning rock band. And still able to take on new challenges.
“Plus … he’s nice. That’s a big deal when you’re a touring family. Freddie would approve, big time. (sic)”
Responding to the “few people” who have said they’d be better performing with a tribute frontman in the place of the late great Freddie – who died 1991 aged 45 due to complications from AIDS – the ‘We Will Rock You’ hitmaker concluded: “(TONITE !!! Also, and I will say this only once, for the benefit of just a few people who haven’t stopped to think clearly. OHMYGOSSIP — Geezer Butler was “nearly blinded” when a Black Sabbath fan threw a giant cross on stage.
The Heavy Metal group are the subject of an exhibition in their home city of Birmingham, ‘Black Sabbath: 50 Years’ and the 69-year-old bassist revealed some of the more memorable gifts from fans that they’ve received over the years are on display.
He told Uncut magazine: “I’ll never forget that. I think it was in San Francisco. Somebody threw this massive bloody brass cross at us, about 18 inches.
“It hit me in the eye. Nearly blinded me. But I kept it.
“There’s also a painting someone gave us in Russia, with us as Samurai warriors. Gloriously hideous. We look like four versions of Ken Dodd.
“They found the jacket I ore on our ‘Vol. 4’ album sleeve. And my silver six-inch platform boots, with red crosses up the sides. God knows how I wore them.”
The exhibition is taking place at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and the ‘Paranoid’ rocker used to visit the building as a child.
He said: “I’d go there almost every other week.
“I remember the big statue of Satan and I loved the Burne-Jones paintings.”
Geezer’s bandmate Tony Iommi is “proud” to have been embraced by his home city.
The guitarist said: “It’s fantastic. All these things are going on in Birmingham for the band. We have our own Black Sabbath bench and bridge. And now this exhibition. It’s amazing…
“[Growing up, Birmingham] was so conservative. But Birmingham is now proud of us and we’re proud to be from Birmingham.
“Black Sabbath put Birmingham on the map, all over the world.
“It’s become maybe an equivalent of Liverpool and the Beatles.
“There’s a lot of stuff in this exhibition – guitars that I use on stage, old amplifier cabinets, outfits too – white, massive sleeves.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Jennifer Lopez prematurely ended her concert at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night (13.07.19) due to a power outage in New York City.
The 49-year-old star was in the midst of her latest gig at the iconic venue when the outage occurred, meaning she was forced to call off her concert early.
In a video clip subsequently posted on Twitter, Jennifer explained: “They just told me to get off stage. I was waiting there. Obviously all the power went out in the city and obviously here at Madison Square Garden.
“They’re asking everybody to evacuate, very slowly and calmly.
“I am obviously heartbroken and devastated … I love you. I’m so sorry this happened in the middle of our moment.”
In a second video, Jennifer promised fans that she’d eventually finish the gig she’d started at Madison Square Garden, though she didn’t know when the concert would be rescheduled for.
She said: “I just don’t even know what to say … I just want you guys to know that you’re gonna get your money’s worth, that we are going to come back and we’re gonna do an amazing show for you.
“I am so sorry that this happened. Obviously it was beyond all of our control. The building handled it very well. They did the smartest thing for everybody’s safety.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Peter Andre thinks being groped during gigs is just “harmless fun”.
The ‘Mysterious Girl’ hitmaker recently performed a private concert and found a number of drunk guests grabbed him in a “certain place” while he sang – but he insisted he didn’t mind.
He said: “Last week I did a private gig in Cheshire for Dr. Nyla Raja, a cosmetic dermatology GP who is a good friend. It was an amazing night.
“There were a few familiar faces such as Amber Turner and Danielle Fogarty, who shared some great clips of me dancing on a table while singing ‘Mysterious Girl’. What can I say? It’s the Greek in me, ha ha.
“A few of the ladies – and even one guys – got a bit drunk and grabbed me in a certain place during the performance, but I just see it as them having a bit of harmless fun.”
After his performance, the 46-year-old singer – who has children Junior 14, and Princess, 12, with ex-wife Katie Price, and Amelia, five, and Theo, two, with spouse Emily – shunned joining in with the festivities in favour of going back to his hotel to catch up on his favourite TV show, ‘Love Island’.
He wrote in his column for new! magazine: “My set finishes around 12am but instead of staying I went back to my hotel room to watch the post-Casa Amor recoupling on ‘Love Island’.
“It was possibly the saddest thing I’ve ever done but equally the best episode I’ve seen so far. I’m hooked!”

OHMYGOSSIP — Common’s new album is inspired by his own memoir.
The 47-year-old rapper – who has also enjoyed success as an actor – has revealed his latest release has drawn inspiration from the memoir he published earlier this year.
He explained: “This album is inspired by the book, ‘Let Love Have The Last Word’, which gave me a path to write about things I had never written about before.
“It forced me to go deeper and because I opened up about so many things in the book, I was charged to go to raw, personal and spiritual places in the music.
“Production-wise, I knew that the music had to have depth, soul and dimension to it. I wanted the musicianship and the spirit of what live music brings but it also had to have something raw and basement about it.”
Common – who released his debut album, ‘Can I Borrow a Dollar?’, in 1992 – said his team also played an influential role with the record.
He shared: “When my team said, ‘You should do some music revolving around the book,’ I just took that energy and went running into my artistry without focusing on anything else.
“So this album is the culmination of this journey, this passion and this Divine Love that I have for one of God’s greatest gifts – music.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Florence Welch admitted to being “overwhelmed” as she played Barclaycard presents British Summer Time in Hyde Park on Saturday (13.07.19).
The 32-year-old star – who is the lead vocalist of her band, Florence + the Machine – told the crowd in London that she couldn’t believe how far she’s come over the last decade.
She confessed: “I’m so overwhelmed by this.
“To come from playing the Old Blue Last and Camden every week …. so I cannot believe that, 10 years later, we are still here.
“The thing that has been so beautiful is the community that has built up around these shows.”
She added: “This will be our last London show for … a little bit.”
Florence also dedicated a song to Arya Stark, a fictional character from the HBO fantasy series ‘Game of Thrones’.
Prior to performing ‘Jenny of Oldstones’ – which features on the ‘Game of Thrones’ soundtrack – she told the crowd: “I would like to dedicate this song to Arya Stark.”
Florence and her band – who headlined the show in Hyde Park – also performed a string of other hits, including ‘June’, ‘Hunger’ and ‘Kiss With A Fist’.
Elsewhere, The National also entertained the crowd in central London, as they were joined on stage by the likes of Gail Anne Dorsey, Lisa Hannigan and Pauline de Lassus.
Other acts earlier in the day included Connie Constance, CC Honeymoon and Roses Gabor.

OHMYGOSSIP — A posthumous Lil Peep album is to be released.
The US rapper – whose real name was Gustav Ahr – died of an accidental overdose in November 2017 aged 21, and his mum has now helped put together a number of his unreleased tracks to make up a new record.
A message on his Instagram account read: “Who wants a new album with amazing unreleased Lil Peep music put together by Gus’s mom and the songs’ original collaborators? You have been asking for this, and I can’t wait to get it to you! (sic)”
Gus died just three months after dropping his debut album, ‘Come Over When You’re Sober, Pt. 1’, and a year after his death his team released posthumous album ‘Come Over When You’re Sober, Pt. 2’.
The star’s producer Smokeasac previously hinted there was more unreleased music to come.
Asked if there was more material which could be released following the second record, he said: “There’s material for sure.
“I have a decent amount of songs with him and then he has music with other producers like Harry Fraud, Diplo, and then there’s an album with iLoveMakonnen. I’m glad to be a part of that. I produced, I think, like six of the songs on the Makonnen album.
“That’s something people can be excited about, too. It was a big change, I guess, in his energy.
“‘Come Over When You’re Sober Pt.2’ – ‘Come Over When You’re Sober’ in general, really – and the Makonnen record is some of his best work. He really put his all into those projects.
“When the time is right we’ll release the stuff with Makonnen.
“I speak to Peep’s mom all the time and I want to make sure that she approves of everything.
“It’s a similar thing, in demo form. It’s a finished album vocals-wise but me and Makonnen will go back into the studio and finish everything off.”
Diplo and Bella Thorne were among the stars to pay tribute to Gus following his death.
The DJ tweeted: “peep had so much more to do man he was constantly inspiring me. I dont feel good man (sic)”
Bella wrote: “F**k I don’t know what to say
“Peep you deserved more out of life. Life didn’t do your greatness justice. (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Ringo Starr hosted a mini Beatles reunion at the former’s Los Angeles show on Saturday (13.07.19).
The 77-year-old music legend surprised fans at his ‘Freshen Up Tour’ concert at the Dodger Stadium when he introduced the iconic Liverpool band’s former drummer on stage with him for the first time since the pair performed at the Grammys in 2014.
After performing the group’s 1968 hit ‘Birthday’, McCartney announced: “We’ve got a surprise for us, a surprise for you, a surprise for everyone.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the one and only, Ringo Starr.”
The pair then shared a hug, whilst McCartney gushed: “I love you, man.”
After setting up his drum kit, they treated fans to renditions of 1978 classic ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)’, the version which sees Starr start the track by playing the drum part unaccompanied for four bars, followed by a brief bass glissando from McCartney.
They then rocked out to heavy number, ‘Helter Skelter’ – which McCartney was “put off” performing for years because of the song’s association with the late cult leader Charles Manson, who was responsible for the murder of model Sharon Tate and four others at the Los Angeles home she shared with Roman Polanski in August 1969.
At the end of the performance, Starr threw his drum sticks into the crowd and then jokingly pretended to offer McCartney’s bass to the sold-out stadium.
If that wasn’t enough, the Los Angeles crowd also witnessed a special guest slot from The Eagles’ Joe Walsh for ‘Carry The Weight’ and ‘The End’ from 1969’s ‘Abbey Road’ LP, which features the last recording sessions featuring all four members of The Fab Four – which also included the late frontman John Lennon and guitarist George Harrison.
‘Let it Be’ hitmaker McCartney ended the epic 38-song set by telling his US fans it won’t be the last time they will see him.
He vowed: “Farewell to you guys. Farewell to America. Only one thing left to be said: We’ll see you next time!”
After the concert, the ‘Egypt Station’ singer posted a picture of him and Starr from the gig, and wrote on Instagram: “Reunited with my favorite Starr #FreshenUpTour @ringostarrmusic (sic)”

OHMYGOSSIP — Ed Sheeran feels inspired by Bruno Mars.
The 28-year-old pop star has joined forces with Bruno, 33, for his latest album, ‘No.6 Collaborations Project’ – which features a number of the world’s best-known musicians – and Ed has admitted to being a long-time fan of the ‘Finesse’ hitmaker.
Speaking on his own YouTube channel, Ed explained: “He’s just a talented writer. And he’s so musically talented, he’s played every instrument on that [track, ‘Blow’].
“Played the drums, played the bass, played the guitar. He’s like, different level in the studio.”
Ed also admitted that the song’s rock vibe came about because of the influence of country singer Chris Stapleton.
He said: “It was purely by accident with having Chris Stapleton, and he just seemed the most interesting.
“Chris was there and he played us the riff … and then we were like ‘Oh, let’s write a song about that.'”
Similarly, Ed relished working with Cardi B on the track ‘South of the Border’, which also features Camila Cabello.
Speaking about Cardi, he shared: “I love how unfiltered she is.
“She’s so media trained not to be media trained. Like her whole shtick is she goes on and says whatever she wants and that is what works for her.
“She’s successful because she is who she is; there’s no one else that could be Cardi B.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Doves are “working towards” new music.
The ‘Black and White Town’ trio – comprising Andy and Jez Williams and Jimi Goodwin – returned to live performing earlier this year after a hiatus of nearly 10 years and they have now confirmed fans will get to hear some fresh songs from them, though they warned it could take some time.
Jez said: “We’re working towards new music.
“It’s impossible to say when, but we have started on that long and winding road.”
The trio are enjoying performing live again and thinks they’ve got the “subtlety” of their sound back.
Jimi told Uncut magazine: “We’ve got all the subtlety back [on stage]. We’d become quite bombastic but now the feel is right again. It’s a real joy.”
Although it’s been 17 years since the group released their biggest hit, ‘There Goes the Fear’, they still love to perform it, much to their relief.
Jez said: “It’s always been fun to play. We’re like vampires, we feed off the crowd’s enthusiasm and the reaction and feedback is always great. That’s why it never gets boring.”
Jimi added: “It would be horrible if we didn’t enjoy playing it, having to get up and do it with a grin on your face.
“Every band has got a track that kind of defines them and I guess this is the one that represents us. I’m cool with that. It’s a great tune.”
But the band didn’t expect the song to be so big at the time it was recorded.
Jez said: “We were proud of the track, we loved it, but we never had an idea of ‘oh God people are going to love this.’
“We had done that before and we were always wrong.
“But a guy who worked for EMI had this brilliant idea of putting 50,000 copies out and just deleting it the same day. Cool.
“It’s a bit elitist, thinking about it now, but it went mental then.
“People were talking about it, radio were playing it, you could sense this general atmosphere around the track. Definitely a lot of love.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Madonna thinks awards are “overrated”.
The 60-year-old singer doesn’t care about having accolades bestowed on her in recognition of her career and doesn’t pay much attention to them.
Asked if she felt it was about time when she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008, she said: “No. No. I don’t know about awards and things like that. They’re overrated.”
However, the ‘Medlin’ singer admitted it was “an honour” to induct her idol David Bowie – who died of cancer in 2016 – into the hall in 1996.
Reflecting on the moment, she said “To be connected with him in any way is an honour.
“I watched his documentary recently, just to be reminded of what a genius he was.
“So brilliant, so amazing. So fearless. He tried on so many things.
“He just went down so many roads and tried so many different genres of music too. And he really went for it and was fearless. He didn’t care what people thought. I love that about him.”
Madonna thinks the ‘Life on Mars’ singer “changed [her] life” and she was blown away the first time she saw him perform when she was just 15.
She gushed to MOJO magazine: “He changed my life. It was the first concert I ever went to. I remember just being frozen. Rigid.
“Staring up at this creature thinking, Oh my God, he’s everything. He’s male and female and beautiful and elegant and poetic and funny and ironic and other-worldly.
“And I recognised myself in him somehow and he gave me license to dream a different future for myself.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Neil Young and Bob Dylan both wowed 65,000 fans as they shared headline billing in Hyde Park on Friday night (12.07.19).
The two music legends came together for an historic night in London which saw them play a host of their classic tracks for the capacity crowd.
First on stage was Young who joked that he had “never played in daylight before” in reference to the fact he had to go on before Dylan and the Canadian musician was in good spirits as he added “it’s great to see everybody”.
Backed by his band The Promise of the Real, which features Willie Nelson’s son Lukas, the 73-year-old rocker opened with ‘Mansion on the Hill, ‘Over and Over’ and ‘Country Home’ from his Crazy Horse period before playing ‘Alabama’ – which features on his acclaimed 1972 album ‘Harvest’ – to huge cheers from the crowd.
Those cheers only got louder when Young strapped on his acoustic guitar and harmonica for beloved classic ‘Heart of Gold’, also taken from ‘Harvest’.
Appreciating the crowd’s response to the song, he followed it up with ‘From Hank to Hendrix’ and then acknowledging his fans’ love of his folk material he said with smile whilst pointing to his guitar “Do you want another one on this one?”
The huge cheers gave way to a rendition of ‘Old Man’ which sparked the biggest singalong of his set.
Young – whose stage was adorned with a Love sign and a bird flying above the band with a peace sign as an eye – also delivered an impassioned version of ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ showing his political passions still burn as brightly as ever.
He and the band returned for an encore of fan favourite ‘Like A Hurricane’ and ‘Piece of Crap’ – from his 1994 album ‘Sleeps with Angels’.
It was then Dylan’s turn to take to the stage and he walked out unannounced and sat down at his piano with a wide grin before opening with ‘Ballad of a Thin Man’ from his seminal 1965 album ‘Highway 61 Revisited’.
Unlike Young, Dylan likes to be playful with his most famous songs often changing the key, the melodies and the arrangements and it seemed to take the capacity crowd a minute to spot that his next song was a piano-led version of his 1964 track ‘It Ain’t Me, Babe’.
The 78-year-old icon did play a faithful version of his song ‘Make You Feel My Love’ – which featured on his 1997 LP ‘Time Out of Mind’ and became a huge hit for Adele when she covered the track – and when he played ‘Like A Rolling Stone’ the crowd joined in to provide backing vocals raising a smile from their hero.
Other highlights included blues numbers ‘Thunder on the Mountain’ and ‘Gotta Serve Somebody’ and ballads ‘Simple Twist of Fate’ and ‘Girl from the North Country’.
Dylan’s encore was comprised of an intriguing rendition of ‘Blowin’ in the Wind’ and ‘It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry’ before he and his band took a bow in front of their adoring audience.
Both Young and Dylan were watched by a host of famous fans including actor Luke Wilson, former Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker and Jake Bugg.

OHMYGOSSIP — Cardi B wants people to support female rappers.
The 26-year-old rap star took to social media to call for the support of female MCs who are rapping about topics other than sex, after Jermaine Dupri recently slammed hip-hop for being filled with “strippers rapping”, and said artists were all “rapping about the same things”.
Cardi highlighted the likes of Rapsody, Tierra Whack, Kamaiyah, and Chika as a few lyrical rappers that deserve more recognition in an Instagram video on Thursday (11.07.19).
The ‘I Like It’ hitmaker said: “There’s a lot of female rappers who be rapping they ass off and don’t be talking about their p***y and don’t be talking about getting down on dirty and y’all don’t be supporting them. So don’t blame that s**t on us, when y’all not the ones supporting them.”
But Cardi – who has 12-month-old daughter Kulture with her husband Offset – also believes the rappers who do talk about sex are the ones who are getting the best response from audiences.
She added: “It seems that’s what people want to hear. When I did ‘Be Careful,’ people we’re talking mad shit in the beginning. If that’s what people ain’t trying to hear, then alright, I’m gonna go rap about my p***y again.”
The ‘Bodak Yellow’ rapper’s comments come after she was named Songwriter of the Year at the ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards last month, and used her acceptance speech to call for people to stop pitting female rappers against one another.
She said on stage at the event: “I just want to say I’m very grateful. Sometimes I feel like I’m not doing too much because when it comes to female rappers, it’s like you’re never doing too much or they’re always pitting you against another female rapper.
“People on my team are like, ‘Cardi, you’re crazy. You won a Grammy. Cardi, all your songs are charting.’ [With] everybody saying I’m not this or that, sometimes I gotta see it and feel it for myself because it’s hard. Everybody always wants to say I made it because of this or made it because of that. I made it because I worked my ass off … Thank you very much, ASCAP. This is an honour for me.”

OHMYGOSSIP — Damon Albarn thinks his Africa Express initiative can be “very powerful” and is what the world “needs”.
The Blur frontman founded the collective – which brings together African, Middle Eastern and Western musicians for recording projects and live shows – in 2006 and admitted the project has been a “dream” because everyone involved has had a “positive” experience.
He said: “It’s a dream of a place that people find comfortable, safe and positive.
“Communicating with people and making emotional connections is what we need right now.
“Without sounding like too much of a hippie, it’s why Africa Express can be very powerful.
“[And] we get to have fantastic adventures and do amazing things.”
The 51-year-old star has recently been working in Johannesburg with various musicians, including Super Furry Animals’ frontman Gruff Rhys, Bombay Bicycle Club’s Jack Steadman, and singer Georgia and the 18-track album they’ve made, ‘EGOLI’, features songs in Xhosa, Zulu, Sesotho, and Acholi, as well as English and Welsh, but Damon insisted language isn’t a barrier to recognising a good song.
He told The Sun newspaper: “In places like Mali, I immediately connected with their sense of melody.
“They love minor chords which is very similar to our folk tradition. Then, of course, blues and rock and roll emanated from Africa.”
One particular Africa Express highlight for Damon was the 2012 London Olympics when Sir Paul McCartney was joined on stage by Guinea’s Ba Cissoko.
He recalled: “He’s playing next to them and they’ve got no idea who is. But because they’re all musicians, they’re connected.
“It was hilarious watching him but it was nice for him as well. What a joy to just be the musician. After all, that’s what he is in essence, isn’t he?”
The Gorillaz star is now keen to take some of the African musicians to America.
He said: “It’s got to be handled diplomatically because you can’t just turn up on someone’s doorstep and go, ‘Hey guys’.
“But our dream is to take an old paddle steamer up the Mississippi.”

OHMYGOSSIP — KISS say the Manchester Arena bombing “broke their hearts”.
The legendary rock band were due to perform at the venue just eight days after a terror attack at Ariana Grande’s concert killed 22 people two years ago, and bassist Gene Simmons has opened up about how “heartbreaking” the horrific tragedy was.
He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Manchester broke our hearts. It’s the children, the innocent young people who have nothing to do with politics or foreign policy. It’s heartbreaking. We stepped up to do anything we could.”
Although the ‘Detroit Rock City’ band weren’t able to play a proposed benefit show at a different venue due to security concerns, they raised £300,000 by auctioning branded, UK-themed guitars they planned to use at the cancelled show.
The money raised went towards an MRI scanner at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, where victims were treated following the 2017 attack.
Now, as KISS prepare to play at the arena on Friday night (12.07.19) they have planned another fundraiser to boost the tally even further.
They have commissioned two more guitars – each in the team colours of Manchester United and Manchester City – which will be signed by the band, both current squads of players and team legends before being auctioned on September 21.
Gene added: “I hope the players put in bids as we’re sort of a big deal. They’ll pay.”
Meanwhile, the 69-year-old musician also opened up on live as a rock ‘n’ roll icon, and insisted his long hair is a vital part of the image.
He said: “If you’re in Coldplay it doesn’t matter. But it’s part of the culture of the music we do. I have a lot more on my back. I wake up in the morning a new hair has grown in my nose. It’s like God has a sense of humour.”
